A little girl sat at the sushi counter making origami animals. So cute and she offered them for tips.

Ordered take out for dinner - HUGE portion of sweet and sour chicken/fried chicken rice (Didn't get photo before kids and hubs dug in - all 3 shared and still had leftovers.) I ordered chicken+shrimp pad thai. Lots of sauce, which I love, not a lot of BS, which I also love. Had a sweeter taste to it. Closest I've had to my favorite Thailand Express which went out of business a few years ago.

Tai Pan restaurant has a wide range of Thai food and sushi options. There is a sushi chef on site to make fresh sushi rolls. It is easy to place a phone order for pickup. The sizes of the entries are made for sharing. This place is hidden in a small strip mall and might be easy to miss.

Tai Pan provides a very intimate experience during which you can interact directly with the chef/owner from any seat in the small dining room. When it comes to sushi restaurants, I'm particularly diligent about the quality and freshness of the ingredients and Tai Pan doesn't disappoint. Because the restaurant has very limited seating (less than 20 seats total) it won't work for a large group. However, they do offer catering and their takeout is perfection on a plate. If you are a sushi lover, you definitely want to make Tai Pan a destination for dining in 2019.

It's not the greatest LOOKING place and not really meant for dine-in. With that said, the food is 🔥 House lo mein is enough to feed 3 of us and it's absolutely delicious every time.

We ordered two Sesame Chicken Combos, does not come with egg rolls! We asked for extra sauce, to which she agreed, but got not even a tablespoon! The egg rolls had several huge chunks of cabbage in them, as well as barely enough sauce, which was yellow and watery, for them either, The “so called” fried rice was white rice with yellow coloring in it…what? The chicken was absolutely awesome, tender and tasty, and enough to feed two people three times…looking forward to leftovers with our own extra sauce, disappointed about the rest😉

Best sushi in the area and the Chinese food is good too! Only complaint is the almond chicken sauce is not the gravy I’m used to and i think they should have stuck with traditional BUT the chicken itself was big portions and cooked to perfection. A lot of other places it can be chewy but theirs was great. Their egg rolls are HUGE and delicious. I’d go there for those alone.

I’m so sad. Tai Pan used to be my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant, but I feel like within the last 3 years they’ve changed. I used to rave over how good their general tsaos chicken was, but now I’m turned off by it. Their crab Rangoon has also changed which breaks my heart. The service is always great, and my orders always been right. I’m just sad over the food changing 😭

My family and I all met here and ordered a lot of different items on the menu and all shared. Everything was delicious. We thought it was a full restaurant but they have to tables and a bar were we sat and ate comfortably. We all loved the food

This is one of our favorite restaurants for sushi/tai food.

I don't know how they got a 4 star review. We ordered ahead and it is obvious they made the food right away and let it sit. The beans were cold, the spring rolls were mushy. The salmon spring rolls, the wonton soup, and the General Tso chickens were cold and tasteless. They forgot the pad thai noodles altogether. So I spent $85 and the only thing edible was the egg roll. My husband picked up the order and said the hostess was rude. It would have been better to drive the extra mile to go to China Jades.

We ordered lettuce wraps and the lettuce was put in with the hot food which made the lettuce hot, nasty and unable to eat. The lettuce should be wrapped separately. So it stays cold and crispy.

The portions given here are huge! A single order of General Taos Chicken easily feeds me for two days.

They do know how to make their own house recipe spicy tuna. Never had similar one else where. I would go back sometime.

We got takeout from Tai Pan with a variety of dishes, the wife got sushi, I got General Tao chicken and a friend got Curry and it was all good! I recommend it but am adding the sushi rolls menu via photos so others can look it up.

The walnut shrimp was ridiculously sweet. I can barely eat it. The same goes for whichever of the 4 different "crab wontons" I ordered. Which is really ridiculous because the 4 options had 4 different prices listed, but the same quantity and description. I'm hoping I didn't get ripped off. Nothing is spelled correctly on the menu so I won't hold my breath.

Our first time trying this little gem and we thought the food was very good. The beef in the pepper steak was very tender and delicious. The egg rolls are huge and tasty. A new favorite! Also, Lee, the lady that took my order, was pleasant and patient.

Great miso soup, sushi and some unique main dishes. Nice selection for vegetarians. The counter girl was great. I forgot to specify spicy heat level for one dish and because i ordered no spice on another dish, she was smart enough to put it on the side.

1st time here, food was really good, service was very attentive and we got an extra sushi roll because they made a minor mistake I would have never known. Highly recommend can't wait to go back!

Sushi seemed like it would have been good if it wasn't bagged with the hot food for the ride home. Pad thai needs some work. I think they use egg noodles instead of rice noodles and I don't think pad thai is supposed to be greasy. With all the great reviews I was a bit disappointed.

Been years since I have been able to find a good Tai place well this excellent. Tai sushi appetizers every thing was amazing. Small place but super big on quality quantity and service and tast. My soul is happy that's how amazing the food was. love the people and chief 110% understood the assignment and brought the a game. Go try it . A favorite for sure.

Food was very good, but honestly, the best part was that the hospitality was great! We sat in there as a group of 5 for a birthday and they accommodated us so well and served us as though it were a sit down restaurant.

Found this place after going to Canterbury Village. The woman who took our order was super nice to us and their sushi was absolutely delicious! If ever in the area again definitely will be back!

Thai Pan Was good but it but it left a little to be desired. They do give a lot of food. It is worth going there just for that reason. The staff is very good and friendly. I ordered szechuan chicken. Like I said it was good, I will go back And try something different. I do hope that you will give it a chance. They have sushi And other Asian dishes. Please check out their menu online And you will see what I mean.

I came in in the middle of the after noon and got a great meal. The order was takeout although there are a couple of tables to dine in. The person at the counter was very helpful and made sure the order was correct. This is not too close to my home but I will return often.

The BEST Miso Soup in Michigan!

The dish was lacking several items that would typically go into a pad thai mostly all noodles

The first time we ordered here everything was delicious.
However, tonight everything we ordered was either wrong or tasted off. My spicy tuna roll had crab instead of tuna. The fried rice had a funky taste, and the hot and sour soup not only looked wrong but tasted wrong as well.

Huge disappointment! Will not be back due to inconsistency

Stopped in this evening for a carryout and the sweet and sour chicken was yummy! It was $13 for the chicken and fried rice, there was plenty of chicken. I felt that there could’ve been more rice in the dish, but everything was tasty. Definitely recommend trying it out!

I am going for my third helping of Yesterdays take out, Massaman curry adding pineapple and carrots. He charged an extra $4 for the two different vegetable additions but def worth it, it could probably feed 3 adults…it was so fresh that it was better the next day!! We had a Philadelphia roll while we waited for our 3 dinners (which were all huge and equally as fresh) That $50 could feed 8 adults solid! This was my first time there and I am so excited to of found it 😁

Best sushi around. I go here often to get their sushi, and it is mouth watering. I usually order 2 rolls(12 sushi pieces) and 1 piece of nigiri which comes out to $15 even, so maybe a little bit pricey, but it is most definitely worth it.

I put 5 based on reviews. This is hilarous. I've tried unsuccessfully to get takeout from this restaurant 3 times. One time they were closed for some reason. One time it was on a Wednesday and my favorite pizza place was closed so I thought I would try them and dis covered Tai Pan was too! Today on 3rd try they are closed because of a food tour! Guess I'll keep trying! Sounds like great takeout from what I read.

Very consistent, delicious food and at a fair price.

Great for at a great price. I order the spicy salmon roll and the schezwan shrimp and, it did not disappoint. The food had the right amount of spice. Not too, not too mild but right in the middle to enjoy. The portions were large and enough to enjoy the next day. I'll definitely be visiting again!

I love this place!

My wife used to work at a Thai and sushi House in Florida and it was one of the best places. Out of the dozens and dozens of restaurants we have been to since she worked at that one, none of them have compared.

Tai Pan is the first one that has the same style of Thai and Sushi.

Tai Pan is the best food around! As a vegetarian, I love the tofu pad thai, miso soup, and veggie sushi roll. The spring rolls are great too! The prices are very affordable especially when you see how large the portions are. 💕

Excellent food, I really enjoyed the fried rice and the massaman curry. The only caution I would give is for people who don't like spicy food. My wife and daughter like things really mild and out was too hot for them. I think we'll try asking for no heat next time.

We are avid sushi lovers. My husband lived in Japan and knows the real deal. This place is hands down the best sushi and pad Thai I have had in Michigan. Decided to try Tai Pan Restaurant for my New Years Eve dinner , I’m only sorry I didn’t try it sooner . Had sweet and sour chicken, chicken lo mein and Szechuan chicken , portions were very large and everything was very fresh , and at a very affordable price. The staff was very very friendly and very fast , I got there early and the food was ready to go . Can’t say enough good things about this place ....I will be a regular customer .

I have been looking for a good sushi place for a year now. I decided to try this place out based on the reviews here on google. I am very happy I did. I ordered shrimp tempura roll and crunchy crab roll. The shrimp tempura roll was good, but the crunchy crab roll was my absolute favorite. Lots of flavor. The staff were very polite as well. I will definitely visit there again. I can't wait to try other items from the menu.

The pad thai was great also, although slightly different than I am used to from thai places. A little too much sauce and noodles were slightly on the soft side. I got the pad thai medium and it was perfect for spice. I appreciate how they put the peanuts on the side.

I looked up Thai food places near me. When I found out they have sushi as well I got excited and scared. The last place I tried that was that ocean inn or w/e it is on sashabaw rd in the plaza with the dollar store. It was disgusting the food I threw away. But I gave this place a shot.. Thia fai is amazing!! Even after not being able to eat it almost a hr later the flavor was incredible!!! This place is a half hidden gem in Waterford. I will recommend it to everyone I know who like thai food and sushi. I will for sure be a repeat customer! ♥️
