Again food was amazing 10/10 to the cooks and also 10/10 to Stella the server for great and very quick service. Great at explaining the menu and breaking things down for me and my wife. So overall this is me and my wife’s favorite spot from now on. It was my first time but not anymore. My first time there I tried the amazing veggie fried dumplings, fried shrimp and zucchini tempura, spicy a chicken sushi roll, calamari fried sushi roll, and a few other dishes but all great and delicious. 10/10🙌

Ru Sans is one of those restaurants that’s always consistent- no matter if you go to Kennesaw or Buckhead.

We ordered our usual tempura crab sticks - we literally had 8 orders sooo goood.

The house rice was really good as well it included shrimp , beef , chicken & veggies.

On Sunday 2/9/25 I took my friend to Rusan’s for lunch. I used to come all the time years ago when I lived in Atlanta and it was always fabulous but my service from my server Kevin was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!! He was rude and when I asked him if he was alright because he acted as if we were a total inconvenience he replied He was just tired. This is inexcusable. Then I get the bill and noticed for a party of 2 he charged a $6.57 tip. I will never come back to this restaurant again. My advise to management is to retrain your servers on proper etiquette and leave the attitude at the door or just stay home when you’re tired.

Food was great, my server Sheliagh was amazing. The hosts were super friendly as soon as I walked through the door too. I recommend the Flying Kamikaze roll I usually don’t eat raw fish due to the texture but this roll was super good. They just started a Happy Hour so I will be back :)

I typically patron the Buckhead location, however I recently relocated & this is around the corner. I was very pleased with the experience. It’s much more lowkey than the buckhead location. I wasn’t able to sit at the bar so I took a booth in the corner. The menu looks a bit different but I was able to find my favorites on there. Was very pleased with my rolls. I feel like they’ve had the same prices since I start coming to Ru San’s back in 2015.
I got the Katsu Salmon roll & 2 crispy Calamari maki rolls. They very quite filling as well to be sushi!
I’ll be back soon enough!

The atmosphere could be more comforting and nice but it works just fine - it does look clean. The sushi Cooks are very enjoyable to watch, open kitchen with partial view. You’re only allowed to sit at the bar when ordering take out. The drinks are good, the food is good, only downside when you don’t get what you pay for (they missed one item complete of a 110$ value order). No pics since the food was gone before I thought about it. Plus for the taste

Food was awful. Sushi was not fresh and not kept adequately cold . Miso soup wasn't hot enough. Big disappointment this restaurant has really gone down hill.

OMG...This is my favorite spot (East Atlanta) to get Sushi anywhere in the city. They have the best sushi for your $$$. Also the lunch sushi buffet is awesome sauce. Ru San's customer service 10 stars. I ride 30 miles to get my sushi and they know me there.

Your servers are comfortable being rude to customers because 18% tip is included On ALL tickets - not just parties. Kevin, our server was very impatient and kept checking his watch and verbally rushing us. Only redeemable thing that happened was he didn’t let us eat the Pork Gyoza he mistakenly served a table of vegetarians. Have fond memories of this place, and food is reasonably priced, but the service is abysmal.

Love Ru Sans! Whether it's this location or other location, I know I'll find something to eat. They have a variety of food from raw sushi to cook ones, to ramen, udon, rolls, yakitori etc!!! Their calamari is one of my fave dishes. And I get their dollar sushi like spicy chicken, salmon etc...the spicy yakiudon is probably my new fave... That's what's in the pic, which is customizable!

This is a quick and cheap place to eat. The entrees are consistent and the sushi is good. This is not the best place but I am happy with the variety I can order and not break the bank.

Don’t go to this restaurant, Yesterday I went with my wife and order something “delicious from the menu” based on the picture, when received it was something completely different. I asked them and all she said was “that’s only a picture” and ruined the whole dinner I couldn’t eat because it tasted terrible and still got charge.

They never provided exceptional service or nothing like that.

Came in at 9:50 on a Friday, was seated and thought everything would go well. Felt rushed to order and eat. Was told they closed at 10:30, we did not plan to eat much so we thought the online stated closing time of 11 PM would give us enough time. Apparently it didn't. Appetizer (garlic sesame tofu?) had vegetables barely cooked, tofu was hot but all vegetables were hardly browned and carrots were nearly uncooked. Having worked foodservice for many years I could tell this was a rush job and it was transparent that we were not welcome.

had an absolutely awful experience. the sushi is just fine, the service was the worst. the drinks may as well been syrup. all of this would have been overlooked had our server not treated my friend and i like a nuisance. we ordered two margaritas on special. we didn’t love them but we didn’t want to send them back and inconvenience anyone. so we asked the server if we could get two extra shots. he looks at us- nose turned up, and said “we don’t have tequila” and damn near ran away. okay, then what’s in my margarita? it was all very weird and because of the final sale/no exchange policy we had to pay for two glasses of syrup we didn’t drink. lesson learned though. but tip (besides the mandatory gratuity) to the server: just because you have unnecessary disdain for your guests, doesn’t mean you can’t hide it for a couple hours. terrible energy

Always loved Rusans as an affordable sushi option in Atlanta. This location has changed a little bit. I was coming here in the OG days way before Covid and you can tell they changed the decor and restaurant around to kind of cater to the millennial eclectic crowd although the little five points area is eclectic in general.

Plenty of sushi options and variations to choose from. They offer different sakes, beers and cocktails to complement your meal. I normally order something basic but one of my favorite things to do is get the tempura which you can order by piece. So off the menu I can choose to have tempura mushrooms, clams, mussels, onion, shrimp…. Just different items to choose from for like 1.99 or so, which comes two pieces to each. Don’t quote me on the prices since the price menu has changed but this is place that so affordable to me I don’t look at prices, I order what I like. Yet pay attention as they do automatically add gratuity to your bill. You can also opt to give more if you like but it is added to your bill already.

Fried rice is very delicious and they do give you a healthy portion. You can easily have plenty to take home for a snack or a meal later on. Weekends are usually packed so plan accordingly and they do have outdoor seating options. Overall this is my Sushi go too!

What a great sushi place right there in town with good prices and fast service. We really enjoyed it and we will be going back soon

I came in with my best friend to celebrate our birthdays and had a truly wonderful time. The atmosphere was great, really good vibe in the place.

All of that is secondary to the phenomenal food. Everything that they brought us was delicious. The sushi was excellent, the ramen was fantastic! everything they brought us was delicious!

I felt like I had to try more stuff or I was missing out, since they hadn't brought us anything bad yet😭

The service was really good too, I don't remember the server's name but he had our back. Made sure my water stayed full (I'm freakishly thirsty. Prolly drank like 6 cups), checked on us once in awhile, made sure my friend had everything she needed. Brought the Wi-Fi password (THEY HAVE WIFI🔥)

That sake is hittin', too! We were in there tipsy on pina coladas 🤣

I'm definitely going to be back to Ru San's as soon as possible, I recommend giving them a shot👍🏾

So I haven’t been to Rusan in a while. I decided to order online which I will advise not to do because it can be misleading. I ordered the scallop maki which does state it comes with 3 pieces. There is a lot of options However all their other roll do not say how many pieces you get. So come to my surprise the rising sun sushi only came with five pieces for 1395. I called and the lady did say mu roll only come with five piece. I asked her why isn’t the amount of sushi is not stated online because that is very misleading. Her response was yeah that’s why we don’t suggest ordering online but calling instead. (How was i supposed to know) So the only thing she offered was for me to return my food and get the money back , which I debated. But I asked her which roll comes with more pieces and she basically stated that most rollls come with 5 to 6 pieces. Basically the prices have went up but sushi portions are small. So heads up call in and ask :/

I love Ru San's! This is the first place that made sushi affordable enough to experience for the first time. The menu is pretty decent with lot's of delicious Japanese options. Great service and interesting cocktails. Great place for a date or to bring the whole family.

We've always find found this to be a reliable moderately priced sushi place. But some time back, I'm not sure when, this Ru Sans made some changes all to the better. The menu choices haven't changed much, but the food quality, portion sizes and presentation have all improved considerably. Kudos to whoever made the improvements.

Amazing place. Definitely "Top Tier". If your in the Edgewood area of GA please stop by you won't be disappointed. Just updated the menu so they have alot of new sushi choices to choose from. I have no particular recommendations because pretty much everything on the menu is Amazing.

I was visiting from Miami, and my family invited me to this establishment. They have good, friendly, professional service and delicious food; I will definitely be back. I recommend it if you pass through the area.

This is my go to any time I'm visiting Atlanta. I drive 3 hours for this salmon rice. My friend loves their sushi and all the different varieties. Our waitress even brought me a birthday slice! She is always so sweet and great service no matter how busy !

I would have gave it 5 stars ,if they didn't help all the other ppl before me and I was there for like 20 mins being patient. Guess it is because I of my skin color or religious beliefs.

I take deliveries from here and the staff is super nice. Also I ate here before the pandemic and the food was amazing.

Rusons Sushi in Edgewood never fails to impress! We revisited after years, and it was like coming home to culinary perfection. The maki combo with tuna, salmon, and California nigiri rolls showcased their commitment to freshness and flavor. The Crunchy Crab Roll had just the right crunch, and the Misu soup remains unrivaled - truly the best we've ever tasted! The Godzilla Maki and Firecracker Maki added an explosion of taste to our meal. Freshness, flavor, and fantastic service make Rusons a must-visit spot in Atlanta. Highly recommended for any sushi lover!

This was the first time in years that we’ve eaten at this location. The sushi was delicious and the service from hostess to the server was the best. Alecia was our server and she made our dining experience special by adding a sense of care that, honestly I hadn’t experienced before. She went above and beyond. We left smiling and in good spirits. I’ve been coming here for years and never had a bad experience until now. The food was rushed. The waiter kept reaching over people’s food! Ordered fried rice it was bland no seasoning on the meats and barely no veggies. Decided to skip to dessert where I ordered fried ice cream and it wasn’t fried. I asked the server if it could be remade. She reaches over the families food to grab the plate and take it to the hostess stand, for a guy to bring it back to the table after they talked over it and said they won’t remake it and that they would only take 15% off the dessert and asked if I still wanted it. “NO”!! Did you literally take my plate to the front door talk over it and bring it back!! I’m Flabbergasted. What is the world coming to?! This used to be such a great place to eat and enjoy company. Crossing this place off the list!

The food was good & they have good lunch specials but they gratuity me on 30$ bill lmao and then my friend paid cash and tip on the card and they charged him an extra 2$ gratuity for the card charge.. when hes alreaady been charged gratuity. Overall the place is located on the second floor, place is not that big and not that small customer service was okay , the food for the price we pay was okay I had better. The bathroom smell good as soon as I walked in, has soap and paper towels wich for me is very important, I also order a piña colada with sake and it was good I also recommend it.

Went there and ordered Protein Powder ball. When I toke a bite and saw they left a LITERAL PAPER in the ball! I showed it to server who immediately took it back and asked if I want another I said no I lost my appetite. When we got the bill all they did was took 20% off. When I told them I didn’t think it was right to pay for something they made a mistake on they stated since we ordered it we pay for it. Would not recommend this place

We came as a party of 5 and found the food to be pretty disappointing. The service was fine, though it seemed a bit out of hand to have a tip included in the bill. There’s no kids menu or particularly good options for kids. The spicy sushi rolls were different than what you’d typically get - pieces of sushi with teriyaki sauce on top. I prefer the type I can get from the grocery store.

Ordered a couple sushi rolls and some miso soup for takeout from their online menu. One of the rolls didn't have all of the ingredients that were in the description. The other roll had an actual picture next to the menu item and what I received looked nothing like the picture and again, the actual ingredients of the roll didn't quite match. Aside from this, neither of the rolls tasted any good! And, weirdly, their miso soup had noodles but no tofu in it. Just odd. We won't be back.

Great service! This has become an after school spot for me and my daughter. We order a bunch of apps and small dishes and the waitress knows our order at this point. Tons of sushi choices and other Japanese entrees for folks who may want more than sushi. Recommend the chicken katsu skewers and shrimp tempura for starters, the hamachi w a side of rice for a light dish, and don't forget dessert! My daughter is a fan of the fried cream puffs with chocolate and raspberry sauces.

I’m from Asia. The ingredients and style of the sushis here are much authentic to Japanese Sushi. Most of the sushi restaurants here are American style Sushi :/ I’m just glad I found a place that I can really enjoy sushi. Nonetheless the price here are much affordable, the size of sushi is so big. I’m happy here.

It's ok. Just ok. There was a kindness of the cooking staff that was not matched by the wait staff, who wanted to go home and was fast to close out a bill an hour before kitchen close time. So many people work hard to make this great food it's just the front of house staff that sadly needs to leave that distracts from it.

I absolutely LOVE Ru San's! This is a good choice for a family outing or a date night. I love their sushi. The only issue was I ordered an alcoholic drink that tasted like it didn't have ANY alcohol in it. Not even the slightest buzz. I understand they're made with Sake so I guess that's why. Do yourself a favor and throw a shot or 2 of liquor in your purse, then order a soda and spike it. Don't tell nobody I told you that though 🤫😂

Ru Sans Edgewood is one of our go-to restaurants if we’re out and about and want something good and quick. The sushi and noodle dishes are consistently good, and the prices are reasonable. I also appreciate that they have many vegetarian and plant-based options. The staff are nice and attentive, probably because they all make a decent wage from the included gratuity policy.

Best fried rice in the city

Today I came here with my sister after having a long day of travel, we decided to come to one of our favorite restaurants, but after today I’ll never come back, the waiter rushed us soooo much to the point she forgot our sake, we had our entree before our appetizer, we got our sake at the end of our meal when we would of prefer it before, then she just came off super condescending to the point I just felt uneasy, she charge me for sauces she didn’t mention she would, I just hope Devyn understand no one wants to be rushed when their sitting for service, especially ones who has been coming to rusans for over 9 years… never judge a book by its cover.. sad to say that when she seem like a woman of color. We never gave her attitude we just told her thank you, we know being a server can be hard

I understand restaurants are down bad financially but the fact that the manager attempted to call the police on me for not wanting to pay for 15$ flash-frozen shrimp fried rice is out of hand. I took three bites and realized the food wasn’t freshly prepared or of suitable quality. The photo above is what I did not eat and what I left in the restaurant.

I have been coming here for 17 yrs though old owners to the new owners it's ashame that they add 18% because I always tip more but if the service sucks I tip 18 but if service is good I tip more.

I don’t go anywhere else, Ru San’s is my..(everybody move, man why are y’all driving so slow, why is there traffic, hurry up and turn, light would change on me) type of vibe! The food is awesome and very versatile. Best sushi and great variety of Chinese food!!! I find this place as a get-a-way and soothing when I’m hungry but also want a peace of mind! The drinks are also bomb! I wouldn’t even worry about a price because I’m like, “oh that’s it, we’ll add these other 3 items” 🤣🤣

We used to eat at Ru San's regularly, primarily the lunchtime sushi buffet. It was never gourmet cuisine, but it was good quality, delicious, and the buffet was a great value.
Today we ate there for the first time since the start of the pandemic, and the death of the restaurant's founder. Unfortunately, the sushi buffet is gone and the entrees we ate from the menu were so mediocre, it was like eating Japanese food at Cracker Barrel or something.
The beef teriyaki didn't taste at all like teriyaki, and the sauce clearly relied on corn starch for body. Completely boring.
My partner's fried rice was equally boring, but also tasted of propane or something that I assume was used to grill the meat. Not good.
I do wish I had tried the sushi, which is mostly what kept us coming back in the past, but after our experience with the entrees today, we'll go elsewhere for Japanese food.

We had Jason and he was new. We were not impressed with him and the language barrier didn’t help any. The food was good but the lady at the front wasn’t very friendly but the chef was very nice. Don’t think we will return to this location. He didn’t work for the %18 they forced us to pay in tip. Never again!!!

Crab Rangoons were not good. Sushi and Chicken Fried Rice were excellent.

This place is amazing. Their sushi is delicious. Service is awesome and employees are excellent. It’s a great place for a date or a family meal! Definitely check it out✊🏻

Unfortunately the new owners have raised the prices through the stratosphere !! What used to cost 35.00 dollars is now doubled !!!! I ate here for years . Definitely not worth the cost for what you order , plus they add gratuity to the bill no matter the size of your party. I will go to the Buckhead location from now on. They lost my business for good.

We have ordered here quite a bit over the years. The last couple times it’s gotten worse and worse. Today was almost inedible. We won’t be coming again.

Was very relaxing and everyone was very friendly. The food was delicious. We had miso soup and some sushi. Then for dessert we had some tempura fried cheesecake. Very yummy 😋

I have been coming to this place for years! All of the servers are nice and the food and drinks are the best bang for your buck.

The shrimp teriyaki was so good! It was also nice and hit when they broughtght it out. The server was very attentive and nice.

If you are picky about sushi but genuinely love good traditional maki, this is a good spot for you. Good quality, well made, very very yummy. You won't walk away disappointed.

Never really disappointed here. Great sushi, fresh fish, really interesting and different roles, wide selection, and pretty moderate prices.

Pictures are misleading on the menu. Food isn’t worth the price. They literally charge you for everything to run the 18% gratuity up, down to the hot sauce. Our waitress had an attitude, never checked on us after the food came out and never refill our soda which was shocking being they get guaranteed tip.

Where I'm from, good food with spices, proper ingredients and quality is essential. I decided to wait until my 2nd visit before creating a review for this spot. Since being in Georgia I've realized that the first time that I taste something here and it appears to be good it could be maybe because it was like a new dating relationship....its exciting. But once I go back the nostalgia and excitement has worn off and it wasn't good after all and normally I don't go back.

The first time at this place I ordered chicken teriyaki. At the first bite the chicken was rubbery and too dry. I spoke with the manager and told him the texture caused me to assume that it was either overcooked or sat but he said no the chicken (breast) is made to order.

So I decided to order the teriyaki steak medium well because maybe it will hold its juices, flavor and texture…yes it was much better and tender. On my 2nd trip the medium steak was good but each time the essence of true flavor and spices were lacking. The teriyaki sauce is extremely sweet which blocks out the other ingredients that make this a dish delicious.

Michael at Best Buy in the Plaza recommended this place but he said get the fried rice which I noticed was the favorite of many in the restaurant or sushi. I'll follow his lead on this one during my stop in the area.

On another note I noticed this lately with some restaurants. I understand waiters/waitresses need to be paid but to add the tip into the bill automatically these days regardless of the service is interesting to me. I love that this place is in a beautiful Plaza with several retail and restaurants to choose from and the with covered parking is an added touch.

Great sushi as always!!

Been eating there ever since high school. It’s cheap and tasty. Don’t go looking for an authentic Japanese experience. Don’t do the sushi buffet no matter how tempting it may sound. Order off the menu.

My favorite sushi place in Atlanta (and possibly the world)!! Tim, the owner, and the sushi chefs are wonderful and take excellent care of you! Lunch buffet is a steal! California Sunset and Tokyo Rose are amazing! Love, love love!

Update in Summer 2023: Still great sushi, but it is now under new ownership and trying to be fancier, which was not the vibe before. Thankfully many of the original sushi chefs remain, so the food remains good. They do have some lunch specials now, since the buffet went away during covid and is probably never coming back.

Good experience

I absolutely love this place. I’ve been to multiple locations and they are all great. I especially love the dollar menu. Good is good and affordable.

The waitress wasn't helpful considering it was my 1st time visiting. She never came back to check on us. I actually like RA SUSHI restaurant much better. I don't think I will return.

Amazing food and good service

Beautiful new makeover. Space got a face lift and it very modern and inviting now.

The service was less than good. I have eating here for years, even decades. For whatever reason our waitress took our order and literally did not come back. We had to ask for more silverware, plates, napkins etc. Things that should have just been provide simply were not and she appeared to be just drawing up by the register or something. After waiting patiently for at lest 15 to 20 minutes we finally had to flag her down to request those items.

The sushi was fresh and great. Those were some of the largest and most delicious rolls I have had in a while. 🥰

The seafood fried rice was not good at all because of the unthawed (frozen) peas and carrots. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Yes, we were served frozen vegetables in our popping hot friend rice. I am thinking it is always a "challenge" at this location because as we told her something is wrong with the peas she told us about them being frozen. We literally could not even break them nor fork them. We did have the rice remade with no vegetables however it was still not good.

Hopefully, my next visit will be much better. Oh and the tip was automatically included which we did not mind.

Despite the recent bad reviews, we risked it and ate there. Everything was clean and the food was great, as usual, and we didn't get sick! Huzzah!!

New updated tables and light fixtures are very nice. Good is still very good.

This place has definitely lost its touch. Overpriced and bland to say the least.

They sushi is good, but it's starting to get more and more expensive without anything (quality or atmosphere) changing. 2 of us ordered two rolls each and a side salad, and it ended up being over $70, which I feel like is steep. But, we keep going back, so it's not too steep. Yet.
