Both the cheapest and most delicious and satisfying Pad Thai I have ever had by far.
The only caviat is cash only, so if you weren't prepared you'll need to deal with ATM fees. But that being said running a cash business in today's world is completely understandable.

Super friendly owners, took the time to help us choose. Each dish was very flavorful and you can ask for more spice. Even the presentation looked nice on every dish. They are takeout only, parking is in the back.

But of all the places I have lived, this is by FAR the worst I have ever had. Noodles taste stale, sauce (what little there is) lacks any real flavor, and why the heck do they give you plain white rice when you order a noodle dish???

I've been eating at the Rice Paddy for 20 years up until I moved away. Tonight was my first time eating there since Aoy sold it. I read about the disappointments others felt and was apprehensive about giving it a try. I love Aoy, she catered my wedding forever ago. I was afraid my nostalgia would get in the way or that the food wouldn't be as good as it used to be.

My fears were entirely unfounded. I absolutely loved my dinner. I got Pork Pad See Eew, a shrimp egg roll and a bowl of hot and sour soup.

The Pad See Eew isn't like any other Pad See Eew out there and it never has been. I ordered it perfectly in the middle of the spiciness levels and it was perfect. I loved every bite.

The egg roll was huge, fat, packed, greasy, hand rolled and just awesome. It was one of the best egg rolls I've ever had.

The Hot and Sour Soup. It was one of the best tasting things I've ever eaten. Aoy's Hot and Sour Soup was my favorite food for years. Now this is. It's so awesomely good. It's really spicy, tangy, packed full of cabbage and tofu. It was as good as it gets.

Nang's isn't Aoy's. It's Nang's and it's really, really good. I wish I still lived here. I'd eat this every week.

I had the thai green curry with tofu. The flavors for the curry were pretty decent, but not outstanding. Here's a warning for all the vegans, vegetarians, and tofu lovers though; the tofu is served raw! I have never had raw tofu in a dish at any Thai restaurant anywhere else in the state, so this was quite a surprise. On the plus side, the prices are amazing and the staff are very kind.

With our travels around the world we've discovered it's often the little places off the beaten path that have the best food. So when we drove by the Rice Paddy, I said "We are eating there!" It did not disappoint. Most may not be adventurous enough to go through it's doors. Some not patient enough for the time that it takes to make your food fresh in a little kitchen. But for those who are, you are rewarded with an experience. The place is tiny with only rail sitting, so closed due to Rona. But I still got to meet the dynamic duo that run this place while I waited for last minute preparation of my take out. Great characters making amazing food. This place has got to be a college kid's dream. Affordable prices, huge portions and amazing flavor. We actually got three meals out of our order because it was so big. As soon as my daughter saw the wontons she was like, "Oh yeah, these are going to be good. Each one is unique in size and shape. Some love went into those." She loved the coconut soup. We also got the green curry that we ate the next day. The Almond Spring rolls is what surprised me the most. These things were huge!!! And only $1.75 🤪🤪

I worked at a Thai Restaurant through highschool so I have to try a new Pad Thai everytime I see one. Theirs is great!

Food was absolutely horrible. Me and my girlfriend were absolutely shocked by the food we have been served. In comparison with Thau House this place needs to work on the presentation of their food and the overall quality!

We had been to this place on our recent trip, our experience here has been beyond expectations, ITS A MUST GO PLACE!!!
It's a family run business, the owner is really amazing person, you must try their green curry, we also liked their other curries too. They have literally gave us one of the authentic Thai flavors, it's the only Thai restaurant we liked, since then we didn't eat at any other place.
Please remember to carry cash as they only accept cash.
Eager to visit them again :)

Not sure how this has such high reviews. The pad Thai is as unauthentic as it gets. No tamarind, no fish sauce, no bean sprouts, no egg, NO PEANUTS. Tasted like all sugar with some spice to cover it up. The meatball dish was just over cooked beef in sugar sauce. If you’ve ever had real Thai food before do not go here!

This was my first time eating here since the change of ownership. My walk in order only took about 5 minutes. The tofu soup was so delicious and comforting, I'll definitely be ordering it the next time I'm sick. The egg rolls are HUGE and so good. I was happy to see that the new owner is as welcoming and kind as Aoy. The Rice Paddy is still a great Marquette staple.

All good things must come to an end 😩 this restaurant apparently changed ownership😮‍💨 with the change in ownership came the change in amazing food 😵‍💫 no more water chestnuts in the wontons mediocre pad Thai and noodles that taste like they've been cut from a tire🛞 this "was" One of our favorite places to eat when we lived here a couple of years ago but not so much anymore 😩 if you're accustomed to the original owner the f yeah we open lady You're going to be disappointed 😞

Wonderful people, terrible food. If you've ever had Thai food anywhere else before, you'll be disappointed. The pad thai is overly sweet, showered with raw cabbage, missing most ingredients you'd expect (no eggs, green onions, of bean sprouts), and served with rice (???). I'm honestly baffled how this place has such positive reviews.

Visitor passing thru - picked up 4 dishes last night and 3 of the 4 were awesome (egg rolls were mediocre). Very friendly & switched on owner (?); good quality food; good size portions. If they were in my town it’d be my “go to place”.

I have been back a few times since new ownership. Food is still good, just not the same. The cream cheese wontons were hardly filled, a few were just the fried dough. I'm going to try a third time, but if it misses no more Rice Paddy for me.

I've been here many times and every time I've enjoyed the experience thoroughly. The people are really nice, the prices are fantastic, and above all, the food is excellent. I can't recommend enough the moo goo gai pan and the pad Thai are my favs.

Good place to have Thai food, staff is friendly and welcoming! Make sure you call in early and pre order as the wait times are usually long depending on time/day (25 to 40 minutes). Also, they're Cash only place. Open on weekdays only! We ordered Orang Chicken but the gravy/sauce was really sweet.

I just tried the rice paddy chicken eggrolls today and they were the best eggrolls I’ve ever had. I also ordered chicken pad Thai and the chicken fried rice which were both excellent. But next time I will get at least three eggrolls they were fresh and crispy the chicken was fantastic. Kudos to the cook.

Very genuine family owned and operated business that definitely deserves more than 5stars! Outstanding service, quick and knows how to make a PROPER PAD THAI! definitely will be coming here more often and gave my whole family a bite when we got home and they will soon be there too! This place is a National Treasure. Food is always delicious and in large portions for the price. Best orange chicken in the US.

I think the quality of food here depends on one’s expectation. If you are looking for tasty food, it is not bad. But if you are looking for authentic Thai or Asian food, you may be disappointed. I grew up in Asia and have travelled a bit to Asian countries and believe my expectations for authentic Asian foods are realistic.

This said, it is impressive to have only one person cooking for all orders. Definitely plan ahead and call in for pickups.

We had high hopes based on the reviews, but it was the worst Thai food we've ever eaten. Fried rice was soggy and tasteless. Unseasoned chicken. And what's up with the giant chunks of raw veggies?? I don't usually leave reviews unless a place was really good or really bad... The people were very nice and I really wanted to like the place, but we will never eat there again.

We came on a Monday based on local recommendation, 1.5hrs wait time. The place was messy and building dilapidated. It looks like a man and woman operation. The woman was doing most of the work. The name of the place seemed awkward on the way out.

I just ordered the curry rice with chicken and extra hot. And I must say it's definitely five stars excellence! The new owners are carrying on the grand tradition that was started by the original founder of rice paddy. Nung is a woman from Thailand who has taken it over, and her husband Keith works there too so it is a family business. And they are carrying on all the traditions that Aoy started! Enjoy!!

The best (take out only) place in Marquette!

When I was in college I would go here at least once a month. I would get the chicken pad thai and a chicken egg roll and maybe its nostalgia, but almost ten years after I last set foot on campus, I have not had as good of Thai food since. The portions were huge and always tasty. Plus it was made with the greatest amount of love possible. To me there is nothing that compares to it. Also Aoy donated her tips to Thailand every year and I was always happy to give a good tip even though Aoy would always say it was too much if I tried to give her enough to make up what the food was actually worth IMO.
