Soho Sushi: Grand Rapids' top spot for Asian cuisine, serving Chinese and Japanese classics. Favorites include sesame chicken and Tiffany roll. Enjoy a full bar, family-friendly atmosphere, outdoor seating, and catering for large parties.
The value is there.
It's not bad, but it's not great and the General Tsao Chicken was disappointing. Soggy outside, with the same weird watery taste a lot of buffets have, and subpar chicken quality.
However, the *Gyoza was decent, and the* Crab Rangoon surprised me. Easily the top 3 for what I'm assuming is imitation crab.
*Sushi has good presentation, but you could easily guess the quality you're getting.
*Chicken Tempura Sushi I got last time wasn't good either.
I guess just don't get chicken from here.
I ordered a tuna and salmon roll but the person helping me suggested that I get the Maki Combo instead. The Maki Combo was a tuna, salmon, and California roll with Miso soup and a salad and it was only $2 more than just a tuna and salmon roll so shout out to the employee for telling about this even better deal! Everything was very solid. All three rolls were good and the sides were too. Whenever I go to a new sushi place, my test is just to order a salmon and tuna roll to get a good feel for how the sushi is. The food was solid but the service was absolutely impeccable!
My husband and I visited just before the dinner rush, but it still took 10 minutes to get water at our table. The food was good, I liked the variety of rolls and ingredients to choose from. There were some pretty unique rolls. The service and atmosphere could use some work. If I were to go back, I'd probably get it to-go.
Very nice little place, usually very quiet, and with wonderful sushi as well. Can't say anything about their other dishes (considering my partner and I are sushi-fiends), but for what we've had, they've got some very flavorful choices. Great deals on rolls for the weekdays as well.

This is one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to. All the rolls are made fresh and the specialty rolls are pretty decent in size.
All you can eat sushi will leave you feeling full after 3 rolls. The staff and the waitresses are super helpful and provide great hospitality.
Don’t believe others when they complain about the long wait times. If you want something quick and fast then go to McDonald’s. Sushi making is an art and takes time. Even though at times they may seem short staffed, they still put maximum effort to make sure each roll is made with love. Would come here again with my family.
The pad Thai is my death row meal. I get it at LEAST three times a month. I dream about their pad thai. Nobody else compares. They’re consistent, portions are incredible, and the variety on the menu is amazing. Nowhere else can I get the world’s best pad thai with a side of good sushi, miso soup AND shumai.

Big 5 stars all the way around today. There was just nothing to complain about. Yippee 🙌🏽
Hard to beat $25 all you can eat sushi. And it's it's above average sushi as well
Disgusting.
I’ve never really been a sushi person but this was really tasty! Also the staff was great and very patient with our table with children/babies at it. 10/10 would recommend
I always got delivery here but man the chinese was good. I always get beef and broccoli. The eggrolls are great. Definitely worth going here for some chinese
Ran in and out quickly to pick up a carryout. Was unable to notice the restaurant or anything else.
The best sushi in grand rapids hands down !
We get sushi often and mostly from this place. Straightforward and fresh rolls are the best- we enjoy the Philly, Alaska, Tuna Avocado Cucumber, and Yellowtail Jalapeño. Thanks, SoHo!
Hands down the best I’ve ever had I live in Detroit and will drive 2hrs for their food!!
Very nice laid back atmosphere, and fantastic sushi. A great choice for a date night.
Excelente todos los platos😃👏🏻 Regresaré pronto 👌🏻👏🏻
All you can eat sushi? You bet, very delicious!
Pretty decent especially for AYCE. Mostly Americanized sushi roll options so I was a bit disappointed by that. Overall not a bad spot

Everything about this place is right.
Great staff, great drinks! Good food, and menu options/specials every week.
This is a go-to place for evening AND lunch.
Always the first stop during the GFS food show.
I feel like when I hear “all you can eat” I kind of expect buffet quality food. Absolutely not the case here. This was some of the best Japanese food I’ve ever had. Literally everything we ordered was so high quality, and everything was made fresh to order. The service was fantastic and the wait was really not bad at all considering how busy they were. Highly recommend.
Food and atmosphere were great but....
The waitress (won't say her name) we had basically scammed us. We got Sushi that is supposed to come with either salad or soup, and we chose salad. She tried to be sneaky by asking if it was okay that it was large, and we said sure (like who wouldn't want a free large salad?). She made it seem as if it was free, yet we were charged for a large salad. We did not know until she came to give us the check and she was like (I'm paraphrasing) " Yea, so you ordered a large salad, but I forgot to ask you if you wanted a soup or salad to go with your meal." And we were confused because she literally said that the salad came with the meal. But we were not going to start problems there, so we just decided to leave after paying for the supposed free salad...
We go there for lunch and have not been dissatisfied after several visits. I've had both the Orange Chicken & Sweet & Sour Chicken and both were good.
Place was empty - we should have left. We had to waive down service whenever needed - they never visited. Served Sweet Sour Chicken - ordered General Tsos chicken. Did not ask if we wanted any drink but water. I went to bar and asked for silverware... server didn't understand why I wanted it. Rename your dish to Mongolian Onions, not Mongolian Beef
College Brats
Great food and very clean restaurant
The restaurant was less than half full on a Sunday night so I had tempered my expectations — but the food was great! Lots of variety on the “all you can eat” menu, including some great appetizers and grill options, and the sushi rolls are full size. We only ordered specialty rolls but all were delicious. It is super underpriced for AYCE sushi. Food was out pretty quickly, although again it was not too busy at the time.
ordered through uber delivered a little late but the salmon didn't seem right and the spicy bundle turned out to be the same thing for all of it not what was advertised. HALF AN HOUR TO 45 MIN after eating it, i had to race to the bathroom for the next 30 min will not order from there ever that bad
We will be back! The food was magnificent 😋 Trevor was GREAT! Just make sure you read everything for no surprises. 😉
It was honestly very good for my first time. I wish the roles were a touch bigger in size and maybe add another item to the salmon roll. But actually it all tasted very fresh or good definitely ordering more.
We like the waitress today. She is caring and thoughtful. She came to our table many times to check if we have enough drinks. She was able to introduce the meal when we had concerns. Highly recommend this pace with terrific service!
Best all you can eat sushi in town.
Two moments spent in this restaurant, was enough to make a proper review.
Initially, I left this establishment with a sour taste in my mouth for the unaddressed misunderstanding. But, after my second time there, my perspective has changed.
The atmosphere is roomie. There is rarely too many people there to make things claustrophobic. Even in its busiest hour, the tables are perfectly spaced to make sure there is ample breathing and walking room. The interior design mimics the bold exterior, with a primary red as it's leading color and black and gold as its accent. They offer booth and chair for seating and a variety of sized tables.
The staff was very kind and frequent with their check-ins. They didn't hover, but they ensured that we were taken care of. The only hiccup we had was that our wait time was a little longer than expected, but the server continued to give us constant updates to make it know that we were not forgotten.
The food is where we need to get descriptive; The food is outrageously underpriced for what you are receiving. They offer week day lunch specials and weekend dinner specials that are "all-you-can-eat". The price varies on age, but they're extremely reasonable (Lunch: 14.99, Dinner: 25.99 EST). Compared to their regular menu and its prices, it's an absolute steal to take them up on their special.
I had a Special Salmon Roll and a Green Dragon, and both were to my liking. Their portions were in good size, and their taste was just as well off. They offer a sizeable amount of options to include ramen bowls, Deep-fried sushi, fries, stir-fry, and more. I am a huge fan of sashimi, and ended up ordering 16 pieces in total of everything they had to offer; I was not disappointed.
I highly recommend this place if you're from out of town or local. With the pricing, staff, and atmosphere, you will not leave let down.
All you can eat lunch special is a great deal $14.99/ $24.99 or sushi, rice, thai, good attentive service
If you haven't experienced this place you are missing out. Service all you can eat. Seriously some of the best sushi 🍣 I've ever tasted. And the rest of the menu was delicious too.
We ordered delivery and ordered 50$ Worth of Chinese food, and yes delivery was amazing, all the food was overwhelming filled with oil, grease, old vegetables, jelly like meat which not only made me sick but my family as well for more than a day in the bathroom!!! I would not recommend what we ordered and we are now scared to ever order again!!!!! 😩😩😩😩🤢🤢🤢🤢
Horrible service & attitude they are racists i was racially profiled and they are deceitful!
Good chinese food
The food is alright the service was slower. Took awhile to get our food and to order. I would come back but just for takeout
Selling you all you can eat and then you wait 20min every time for your order! Definitely a place to avoid in Grand Rapis! Don’t waste your money and time there!
Excellent food, great service, nice atmosphere
Sushi was great and very happy with the new all you can eat option as it has both more options and is also closer than Nagoya. I had to wait 20-30 minutes for my sushi because they forgot to make it and also received it even after the second roll that I ordered. I did come a bit later so I felt rushed to eat enough to feel full. Next time I'll come earlier to be able to enjoy it more.
I came here with my girlfriend on a whim and got some of the better food I've had since I moved to Grand Rapids. We did the all you can eat option and sampled a good spread of the menu and had no flops along the way. I am blanking our servers name but she had blue in her hair. She was very nice and even had a little chit chat with us about what was our personal highlights and it really felt home-ee for that.
The Eel here is also something I'd firmly recommend.
Soho sushi went above and beyond to make sure I had my full order when I ordered from Uber eats and the delivery driver did not grab the whole order. I don’t have a car atm so I truly appreciate them making sure we had our meal that evening. I am so grateful for their kindness!!
Sushi was great and tasted fresh, but the Chinese food was very subpar. I don’t know if it’s because of the AYCE that they only have three shrimps per Chinese shrimp dish and made the sauce and seasonings taste overcooked or if it’s always like this, but I for sure will not be coming back or at least not back for the Chinese food. Also the service was also very subpar. The server kept forgetting our orders and making annoyed expressions when talking to us despite being very polite to her and always thanking her. I also forgot to add this, but the server never took away our finished dishes away like other AYCE restaurants. I don’t know if it was just for us or for everyone, but it was very awkward that we just had to stack the dishes together (we didn’t even order that much - only like four plates and two soups). We just excused it on her maybe having a bad day cause the restaurant wasn’t that busy. I hope the restaurant takes note that finished dishes shouldn’t stay on the table. Also, they will not be adding, removing, or switching out any ingredients in your sushi (or at least that’s what the server told me) so don’t expect them to be accommodating in that respect. This gave a sour experience since this was our first visit to this restaurant.
Very nice sushi restaurant in downtown. Food was fairly priced and was very good. Staff was so friendly, nice and very patient with our two year old.
Service was okay. Food was good, sushi was good. My main dish was the Pad Thai and it was well made. My friend got the ramen and enjoyed it. Very romantic atmosphere.
My husband and I went for all you can eat lunch. The food was as fresh and the service was quick for an all you can eat. There was a ton of cucumber in my rolls which is okay for sushi but more than I would have liked. The cucumber was also SUPER crunchy and not like other sushi I’ve had before. Over all great place to eat!
Very nice place for lunchtime meal
Great food and service
Very attentive, very detailed! All you can eat is amazing for just $24 but definitely come back
They have a nice selection of sushi and good prices with great customer service.
We’ve came here a few times now for the all you can eat menu, which has a great selection for anyone. Our go to place for sushi now and we come from 45 minutes away
Foods consistent & friendly staff that always goes above & beyond.
FAMILY FRIENDLY! When you’re in the city with kids, it can be hard finding a place with some space and comfort to relax and eat. AND, my boys loved the All You Can Eat sushi lunch. Service was slow, my only complaint, but we weren’t in a hurry.
Great location.
Great sushi.
Great price.
Worth a visit.
I love this place. It's high quality Chinese food, at ghetto take-out prices.
The vibe in in there is a little weird, meaning it feels a little fancy for me, when it's really not.
The quality (and price) of the food really makes up for it, though.
Waaaay better than most Chinese in GR, but a super fair price-point.
I would have given them a 5/5 for service, but the last time we were in there, the server was kinda lacking.
We've had that same server before, though, and she was totally cool. Maybe she was having a bad night. I work in the service industry so I get it. All love.
I had dinner there with my friends over the weekend, did not know they had all you can eat sushi at an amazing price with all of my favorite rolls! I have shell fish allergy, and I told my lovely server and she was able to accommodate to my issue. I walked up to the sushi bar and actually watched the chef to prepare my order, they changed gloves and cleaned their knifes and were making my sushi on a plate instead of the cutting board, which I assume it was because of my allergy. I always loved the experience and services and especially the food at Soho!
Folks with dietary issues and allergies beware! Not all ingredients in their dishes are listed on the menu. There are sushi rolls on the menu that come with various sauces that are not listed, and their spicy tuna contains tempura...again, not listed. I've tried this location several times, and nearly every time I have to return a dish because I can't eat it.
Just... Fix your menu. I can't be the only one who's complained about this.
This is my favorite place for Kung pao Chicken!!! Always fresh and delicious
5* but you have to understand the deal you're getting. It was $25 for all you can eat sushi of an extensive menu.
The actual food isn't the highest quality but you're not getting all you can eat sushi for cheaper.
Really tasty rolls and dumplings. They probably need some help with all the takeout orders, but that speaks to the quality of the food.
This is one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to. All the rolls are made fresh and the specialty rolls are pretty decent in size.
All you can eat sushi will leave you feeling full after 3 rolls. The staff and the waitresses are super helpful and provide great hospitality.

Even though at times they may seem short staffed, they still put maximum effort to make sure each roll is made with love. Would come here again with my family.
Went to pick up my togo order and waited 30 minutes after it was supposed to be ready to actually get my food. I got a coupon in the mail (only reason I ordered food from here) for 10% off my order and staff tried to tell me they don't have coupons. First experience was horrible, won't be going back.
Was told 15 min for takeout, I showed up 5 mins late and still waited 15 mins standing at the front door waiting for someone to give me my takeout order
Food was outstanding! We got sushi and some of the Chinese offerings, including the Philadelphia roll and eel avocado as well as the beef and broccoli with fried rice.
Everything was delicious and fresh and hot, and arrived promptly with no spillage.
Meh
One of the best places to get Chinese food hands down!!!! Always delicious every time we have gotten take out.
I've only ever had their sushi from Door Dash, but having tried a half of dozen other Japanese/sushi restaurants, I can honestly say that Soho Sushi has the highest quality ingredients and the best tasting sushi. I love this place.
I honestly feel robbed. $20 for wrapped nothing
We ordered delivery and everything was amazing from the sushi to the hibachi, the appetizers. Highly recommended
Good enough to come back 2 days later
It’s really great if you have an hour to wait in the lobby for your food
Very nice little place, usually very quiet, and with wonderful sushi as well. Can't say anything about their other dishes (considering my partner and I are sushi-fiends), but for what we've had, they've got some very flavorful choices. Great deals on rolls for the weekdays as well.
The decor and atmosphere is very charming and calming, nothing crazy but it's not trying to be over the top. Staff is very friendly, service is great, and taking into account all other sushi places I've gone to, Soho still gets 5-stars from me.
favorite sushi place in GR! Ramen and fried sushi are a must!
Every time I've eaten there I've had a great experience. Very inexpensive for the quality and is very conveniently located in the downtown area. Was even able to take a friend who has accommodations due to allergy (gluten allergy) and had great service/communication. I bring friends here all the time, especially for it being their first time trying sushi! Definitely worth checking out for sure! A gem of Grand Rapids!
Great Hot and Sour Soup and a beautiful restaurant, Keith Scott
Top-notch sushi, from top-notch chefs. Had a chance to talk to Chef Danny who was especially friendly and very helpful. He said he'd be making our dinner personally and that we wouldn't be disappointed. He was funny and made us tourists feel very welcomed and appreciated. Food was indeed, fantastic and delicious. Very satisfied customers and highly recommended Soho Sushi.
Chef Danny Nguyen is a staple. Amazing service and food.
I’ve been happy with the food and service each time!
For the quality the prices are really good. Place looks way nicer than what the prices reflect.
Great staff. Got there right before closing. Didn't make us feel like they were closing. Sushi was excellent.
Nothing standout about this place one way or the other. Standard offering of rolls and sashimi. Presentation was ok but not impressive. Taste was only ok. Their half price rolls seem like a good deal but they didn’t taste great. The scallop nigiri was pretty good, though.
My bf and I usually choose this place for sushi. But it appears that the quality has gone down and prices up (it’s seriously too expensive) The crab ragoons were even square shaped with very little filling today. Highly recommend the sesame chicken as it’s a good portion & tasty. Amazing service and alcoholic beverages at least.
Told us 15mins turned to almost an hour, really good sushi tho..
Me gustó mucho
Agradablemente silencioso
❤️✨☺️
Pretty good, food is very typical so nothing too crazy, just your average sushi restaurant. My waitress was really nice! The atmosphere is also basic as well, only thing was that it was incredibly hard to find parking haha
Really nice experience. Super cool to get to pick the sake that sounded the most appealing to my taste rather than there just being only one option, really enjoyed all the food.
This place is great!! I never write reviews but this deserved it. Our sushi and entree was SO good. The atmosphere and server was very pleasant.
Our server was extremely sweet and attentive to me and my boyfriend. The sushi was good but definitely not the best that I’ve tried. In my opinion for the quality received, it was slightly overpriced.
This place continues to amaze. I have dined in once, and ordered delivery numerous times now and have been blown away every time. Hibachi is fantastic, sushi is great, and they don’t cheat on portions.
The food was great and it felt good authentic asian food. Waitress was kind and prices are good in comparison with the food quality.
Super friendly staff. Really tasty sushi!
Great sushi. Everything we ordered was great! I highly recommend
Food and service was gr8, can't say so much for the price of 80 bucks for 3 meals tho! I think they gone up wayyyy too high, it's worth it tho-but now.... Idk, for that price I can go to Hunan for the same at half the price.
However, one meal is a serving size well enough to feed two adults or possibly four children, possibly 3. You do get your money's worth it's just their prices have gone up dramatically!
Good food, good sushi, dine in is laid back and the servers here are very nice!
Very nice
Octopus sashimi were 2 very thick cuts that should have been sliced much thinner.
Steak hibachi was very tough even though I ordered medium rare. The rice was hard and bland so I put their yum yum sauce on it, which was very sour.
The ginger salad that came with the hibachi had very little flavor.
Egg drop and miso soup were normal.
The beef in the yaki udon felt like they put a lot of corn starch on it but tasted fine.
We ordered 4 sushi rolls (surf and turf, Grand Rapids, crazy boy, and MI). The rolls all fell apart really easily and were not tightly wrapped. Flavor wise, none of them really stood out.
There are lots of better sushi options in GR - even along Monroe Center. I would probably avoid this one.
One Favorite spot downtown for sushi
My son says this Chicken Lomein was...Delicious!!! He liked the chicken most.
Will preface and say didn’t get any raw sushi so I can’t comment on that, did get three vegetarian rolls and shrimp tempura roll and they were nice but the rice wasn’t sticky enough and all the rolls would fall apart as you pick them up. Again didn’t try any raw fish rolls so I can’t comment on those.
Service was great, they had gluten-free soy sauce which was awesome, sushi rolls were very good and presented very nicely, miso soup was so-so.
This place is amazing. The best Chinese food we have found in the area. Insanely large portions and just so good.
Food and tea was really tasty. Presentation was amazing too.
We had a great first meal here. Everything tested fresh. Prices were typical for the area. Our server was very friendly. Overall I was quite happy with the sushi here.
so good. amazing. and super low prices. i got the shumai and i was so happy to eat it that I forgot to take a picture.
Had my birthday dinner here with friends. I called ahead to make sure they could seat all of us. The staff were all so wonderful. They even played a birthday song that everyone in the restaurant clapped along to, which was so sweet and unexpected. And of course, the sushi was both beautiful & delicious !
Wonderful sushi!
Had the pad Thai and sweet and sour chicken both came with fried rice.
It was all terrible. Fried rice was AWFUL, pad Thai was awful, sweet and sour chicken was a 3/10. All for $40.. maybe it’s a better for take out lunch. Good luck if you order from here.
Salmon was questionable and the restaurant itself should probably be condemned, bugs around the light fixtures. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant when there are so mamy other sushi joints in town!
Fast, easy, great bang for your buck!
This is my go-to establishment. I’ll be biased here and say the General Tso is hands down the best thing you can order off the menu.
Although this is not my usual GT order (pictured), we grabbed some sweet & sour along with sesame chicken and it never lets me down. Highly recommended if you’re in the downtown area. Their delivery service is prompt and food is consistent. Mix your food palette preference up a bit and stop in. No regrets will be referenced because it’s a flavor profile you will crave and craze in the future. Enjoy!
I love the sushi and sashimi combo. It testes fresh which I love.
Best Hot & sour soup we’ve ever had after every place we’ve been too. Great packaging kept everything nice and hot for delivery!!!! Everything was A1 !!! Definitely Ordering again! This is the Go to place every Sunday !!
ANOTHER UPDATE (3-16-22)
Tried the Beautiful Life Roll & it is my new favorite! Sushi is always fresh, perfect temp, and delicious. I wish they would offer some sort of rewards program bc I've ordered at least twice a week for idk how long!! That would make this spot PERFECT! Thanks Soho!
Update: Soho has become my favorite sushi spot in the city. Not only is the food delicious and hot, it is also very reasonably priced. Tonight I ordered egg drop soup for the 1st time cup for the 1st time, because I am sick and craving egg drop soup. Soho did not disappoint. The soup was delicious and creamy in texture, with that sesame seed flavor and that eggy greatness. I also ordered the spider roll and the yellow tail tuna roll and both were amazing. And don't forget the thai iced tea to top off a great meal. Completely satisfied
Great food, great service and fast delivery! Cannot complain. Thank you so much!
Good food, very vegan friendly
I refuse to give this place my business. I walked in 30 minutes before they closed and tried to place a small takeout order but they refused. Update your hours or honor them. Terrible business ethics.
Bad service, mediocre food, so many other choices, won’t be making the mistake of coming back here
As far any most sushi places go, this is about what you would expect. Slightly pricy, but sizable portions make up for it. It's also worth noting that you have Chinese food options as well if you don't want just sushi. Overall great quality!
The sushi was mushy. Sushi rice is over cooked, and the nori was anything but crisp. When you took a bite it seemed the nori just wouldn't chew, and got extremely stringy. Beyond that the rolls are extremely small. I would go and spend my money at one of the other sushi restaurants around.
The food here is not safe don’t eat it.
Waitress misheard me and thought i had ordered the steak and shrimp. I hate shrimp, so i told her that I had ordered the steak and chicken. She then proceeded to talk to me in a condescending tone about how i ordered shrimp. Usually not a Karen, but I wouldn’t order something I hate & this could have been easily resolved.
My fiancé and I ordered from here tonight and it was some of the worst Asian food we’ve ever had (my fiancé is Chinese btw). The salads that came with the hibachi had an inedible dressing and unfortunately we didn’t taste it before we put it all over the salad. I ordered the salmon and it is very clearly frozen salmon. It was probably the most dry salmon I’ve ever eaten. My fiancé ordered scallops as an appetizer and they were very small and there was only a few. His steak hibachi was supposed to be medium well and it was medium rare. Sucks to try a new place and have the food be this bad. Not worth the price at all.
Excellent customer service. They can get a bit busy but worth the wait. If haven’t seen my photo, they are take out only right now. They’re pretty on top of having orders done in a timely fashion for delivery & takeout
Delish! And service was fast and friendly!
always fast and friendly service the food was delicious and I got extra seaweed for my miso soup you got to ask for it on the side don't tell him I told you LOL yeah I know they see this and I see my face everyday because I also deliver so if y'all need some food delivered with Uber eats do that I'll probably be there
Good service, decent food, reasonable price. Gen Tso was not the good, but I enjoyed the fried rice.
Ordered Chinese and the sauce was so watered down it was obvious they added water to a cheap bottle of sauce to the point there was barely any flavor. Bad business practice and they will not be getting my business again.
Was still pretty shut down because of covid. But you could order tour food to go, they offer outside seating.
Ordered 2 Appetizers and a main course. The appetizers were alright.
For the main course, I had ordered Thai Basil Fried rice with steamed tofu and vegetables. I repeated my order atleast a good 3-4 times and the one who took my order also repeated my order back to me. After all of this jazz, guess what! They just gave me a bland rice with some basil leaves and fried tofu. No where close to any Thai fried rice entree.
I would recommend this place only if you are in a hurry and need to eat something to keep yourself going. If you are looking for a good eat out and enjoy kinda meal, this is definitely not the place.
Great sushi, great place to sit outside and enjoy food and some sun.
It is best sushi restaurants in the grand rapid! Everything are very fresh, and delicious!
