Thai nook earns buzz for its classic cuisine served in a welcoming atmosphere with cultural artwork.
My husband and I just finished eating our take-out and WOW! Thank you to everyone who is working on 12/27/24 at 6:30pm. We order from this place probably once a month and the food is consistently good, but tonight we think this is the best pad thai and drunken noodle we've ever had! 10/10, 5 stars, will purchase again and again forever trying to eat this meal.
Don't Bother going if it is anywhere near 8pm. Their door hours say open til 8:30pm, however, I've stopped twice on my way home from work, and they have refused both to seat me, or to get a take out. Has turned me off completely, lost my business. The least they can do is post their true hours, maybe it's 7pm for true close?? When I dined in a couple times, the food was very good, and it's a cute atmosphere. I've just never seen so many restaurants closing at very early times in the evening, and they don't even care if they miss out sales. (The other goofy thing is restaurants charging the 3-4% fee to use the cc; why would customers be paying for the restaurant's cost of doing business? And why are we seeing recommendations for 23%, 25% tips when often plates not cleared, we pack our own food, and cash ourselves out?)
Tried to sub 2 items on a carry out dish. They added $3 to the order on one for one substitutions. The employees would not correct it. Ridiculous. When I got the food home they poorly packed the meal and the sauce was all in the bottom of the bag and it ran all over. Over priced -I won't be back.
Got take out the food was Okay, not bad but nothing special. defintly not worth the price. They had one price online a $3 higher price written in on the menue when i got there, i understood they may not have printed new menues and that food prices go up i was fine with that, but then was charged $4 over what was written in the menue. If i would have knowen ahead of time would have ordered some place else. Way too much for what you get and average food.
I ordered pad Thai with shrimp, paid for extra shrimp. This was easily the worst pad Thai I've ever had. The shrimp was severely overcooked and rubbery. The noodles were over cooked as well, the were presented in a dry clump , I attempted to mix them thoroughly but there was little to no sauce, only the bottom noodles slightly had sauce. This was quite disappointing and underwhelming. I definitely don't plan to visit here again. The only positive, is that the order came very quickly via Door Dash.
The worst Thai food. Sorry to leave this bad review because the lad who took our order was the nicest. The chicken satay was a big hunk of chicken with brown lettuce the peanut sauce was thin and not creamy. The drunken noodles had a weird flavor. Fried rice was fine Pad Ped okay too.
I visited this place again last week. Wow! Hands down One of the best places to get thai food. The complementary soup was decent the staff is very good and approachable. I will go again to this place. The Chief special fried rice and pineapple fried rice are the best. If you are around Farmington hills its a must try. Make sure you know your spice level while ordering.
WOWIIIEE! I have tried many many many Thai spots in Wayne county & Oakland county. Many places that I enjoyed long ago just don’t taste the same anymore. So, I ordered take out from here for the first time- I tried laarb guy & tom yum (in spice level hot) and WOOOW!!! The flavor, the spice level, the moistness of the chicken in the laarb was simply phenomenal. I have a high spice tolerance and that Tom Yum had me breaking a little sweat but it was extremely delicious and enjoyed. Sooo happy I found this spot, I’ll be ordering more for the second time today just to share it with my sister :-). I just had 2 share my experience with those two dishes because it’s not easy to find staple ethnic spots.

Food was good, spice level was hot and still bore flavor worthy of a 5 star review. Will eat again, !
Delicious food!
food is amazing and authentic!!! the new management is wonderful
Food is pretty good. Spicy level seems off sometimes. I ordered hot and my husband ordered Thai hot. Mine was spicier than his.
Menu pricing does not match what we were billed for. They say they did not update the menu yet. Would not adjust price. This happened last time too. That was a month ago. Watch your billing prices if you go here.
Chicken satay made with thigh meat dry and chewy. Pad Thai was ALL noodles, 8 miniscule rubbery (obviously frozen) shrimp
They need to save more money, cuz they’re going to go out of business. Have made far superior Thai food myself
Another local restaurant that has nice food.
It was my first time having Thai food. Yo!!!!! Great service, delicious food, great portions! Which is what I look for most of the time I eat out. 'No Cap!' Lol. Their red curry with chicken, bamboo shoots, veggies with white steam rice! Crazy good and flavorful. You can choose the spice level! I'll definitely comeback here. Service was great!
Be careful. The manager charges for items you don’t receive. They charged for a noodle soup missing more than half the ingredients and refused to compensate. Instead of telling me they were out of stuff, they served it and expected me not to notice. Didn’t ask for substitution. Or if I want anything else. When I pointed out the mistake, the owner got mad and threatened police if I didn’t pay full price. They sent help from Bon Chan to threaten me. And wouldn’t give me any other option except 10 percent off next order. But considering the price of the noodle soup and what was missing, 10 percent doesn’t cover an almost 20 dollar soup missing almost everything except for imitation crab. I asked if I could sub and thats when they threatened the police. The last owner was so nice and treated me and my family like best friends. She always did the right thing. And this owner is so greedy and expecting you not to notice the lack of quality or what you order. They just want you to pay for what you didn’t get and won’t make it right. He was rude and yelling at his waitress about it. They aren’t friendly and greedy. They charged an extra 2 dollar for a refill on a soda I didn’t even get and told me I was a lie when all we had were waters on the table. This owner is terrible. I will support any business but this.
The Pad Thai was not good at all. Noddles weren’t fully covered in sauce, and everything had this weird aftertaste. I wanted to like it, oh well. Staff was friendly. Won’t be returning.
You must try Fried Rice at this restaurant. I ordered FR3, the basil fried rice, and it was simply awesome.
We had a great time wonderful staff, excellent food it was delicious, beautiful well appointed ,clean lovely restaurant will definitely be going again and recommended it to everyone.
Something changed. We’ve ordered from here for years and suddenly it’s just super spicy. No other flavor to it than spice. I ordered mine mild and it is not edible. Just very dry and spicy. It was the pad Thai with chicken for reference. Super disappointing since this was our go to.
Called to complain that they gave me hardly any vegetables and tofu it was all sauce for two dinners at $28.00. She said I already ate the food. I explained to her that this is what they gave me, it’s all liquid and hardly any vegetables and tofu. The owner offered me 20% off my next order. I let the owner know, they just lost a longtime customer and they can keep their 20% off. Very disappointed.
Food was delicious. Clean place. Service was wonderful. Prices fair
Arguably the best Thai restaurant in Farmington hills.
New owners overpriced
Great Thai food, service is really good. One of our favs
Great food and nice people also clean
Prepared quickly, good portions and pricing but very bland fried rice. Im sure other dishes aren’t as bland! More sauce would go a long way
Great coconut broth !!
High quality Thai food at a reasonable price with excellent service. I will certainly be back.
Best Thai in the area at this price.
Edit: Something changed. All the old servers are gone. Service is less than stellar. Food quality has taken a hit as well. Tried twice since the change and I do not think I will be back. There is better Thai around in the area now.
Never again, they can’t even afford to give you forks or sauce.
Affordable and delicious!
This was our favorite Thai food for years - but no more! They just recently changed ownership - all staff including chef are new. Refused to honor punch/reward card, was empty at dinnertime, and our carryout order was awful - inedible! Asked for mild spice and both entrees were so hot and spicy we could not eat them - even with a glass of milk handy. Unfortunate we will no longer be ordering food here, on the hunt for good Thai food once again 😒
Food is amazing!! Can’t stay out of this place 😋
They messed up my order and wasn't willing to compensate
I have been looking for a Thai restaurant to replace Thai Palace in Dearborn which closed several years ago. I stumbled across Bangkok Sala while on my way to visit my son.
Staff is very pleasant and accommodating, cafe is small but very clean and neat. My favorite Thai dish is Pad Num Mun Hoy with scallops and Shrimp Fried Rice, both hot/spicy. Yesterday, when I got home and opened the container of Num Mun Hoy, I noticed it felt VERY light. Upon opening it, I discovered MOSTLY broth/liquid, small scallops about the size of a dime and some green onions. And it had a sweeter taste to it than before which I thought was odd/different. And I paid $14 for it 😳 Now, I have had this dish from them before and it was MUCH better so, maybe yesterday was an 'off' day 🤷🏽 But, I believe that a restaurant's food should be consistently prepared.
Last thoughts: they ARE very difficult to catch open.
I appreciate getting my food piping hot and made properly. Thank you, Bankok Sala Cafe. I will be returning.
Very good food and service!
Delicious food, quick service, reasonable price. We ordered chefs special fried rice with chicken, Pad Vonsen with chicken and crispy rolls. Lip smacking and tasty food. Crispy rolls are much recommended. It’s a unique appetizer which e can’t find in other Thai restaurants. Our daughter who never liked chicken loved the appetizer. Fried rice was perfect just the correct ratio for chicken and veggies. Usually restaurants mess up fried rice either adding too much soy sauce or few chicken pieces or lot of veggies. But they had it perfect here. Pad Vonsen tasted delicious as well. Perfect blend of thin glass noodles with right amount of spice. The complimentary tofu soup at the beginning was a warm welcome on a cold windy evening. Price was reasonable. $38 for a small family of 3. 1 appetizer 2 entrees and 1 side of steamed veggies. Made our one of go to Thai restaurant around Farmington hills Southfield Novi region.
Overall 4.5 out of 5
Great Pad Thai!!!!! Service was excellent.
Very good food have yet to have any problems with what I’ve gotten, definitely a good quick lunch spot or take out. Love the pad Thai, and the chefs special fried rice although everything I have had is very good.
Very good service so far
I wanted Thai food at work, so ordered delivery. Splurged on Cashew chicken for $27.50 with delivery. Awful. The sauce was not sauce, just brown liquid. Only a few cashews and a little chicken. LOTS of bamboo shoots which i don't really like. Never again.
Great food. Service was fast and friendly.
We love good Thai food and they had good food. We got takeout and so the service was great in that they had it ready and boxed up quickly. They had a table of napkins, chopsticks, utensils, sauce packets, and straws near the door which was a nice touch.
Decent Thai restaurant. Nothing special. Spice level less than requested. Food tasted good. Lunch portion seemed small, even though I'm not a big eater. Good, friendly service.
Food is great, waiting time is not too bad. Staffs are attentive. Price is some what reasonable.
I can’t remember the last time I left a bad review but it needs to be said…1). No Papaya Salad - whoever knows Thai know every Thai restaurant has this iconic Thai meal…2). The quality of food was if an American saw one Youtube video and now says “I know how to make Thai food”…..no you don’t….not authentic in any sense (honestly, I do not think these folks are Thai)….3). When asked for more Thai chiller peppers to spice up my dish more, the lady actually brought me cut up FROZEN PEPPERS…saying that they keep them frozen so they dont go bad…and seemed completely oblivious to the idea of putting “ice” in my already very watered down sauce that was in my meal….worst Thai I have ever had in 20 years.
My go-to takeout Thai. And always a pleasant smile!
Really disappointed with the food. I ordered HOT and food was mild. When I asked the waiter about it, the response was to add chili flakes. Really rude response n lame.
They are usually better than this.
The pad Thai here is very solid
Really good pad thai. A vegetarian family member said that the vegetable pad thai was really good, with lots of vegetables. The chicken pad thai was also yummy. I ordered mild plus and felt that the spice level was very good for that request. Good for takeout, and they also have a dining room. Reasonable prices.
I don't live close to here and I've only been once but it is great from that experience. (I can't speak to the consistency or other menu items because of that).
Friendly staff with good quick service. Prices are reasonable and Thai food is good.
I have no idea what's going on but the food was not good. I couldn't even taste the garlic and the sauce was watery.
Also, there was stuff missing from my order. I usually check my takeout before I leave a place but I didn't this time. Mistake.
Quick pickup of takeout order. Solid Thai dishes. Friendly staff.
Great food. Fast service at lunch time.
Great Thai food. Prices are decent as well compared to other places who has taken advantage of inflation/recession fears
Not a fan of thai food but their fried rice was great!
Great Fried rice
Second time eating here, unfortunately both were mediocre at best. You guys forgot to add the flavour! $13 for bland Gang Gai? Unfortunately I won't be eating here again. Shame because it's so close!
Worst curry fried rice I have ever had
Amazing food and service - ambience is nice, ordered tofu Todd, crispy Siam rolls, coconut Tom kha soup, pad vonsen and sala fried rice - delicious food, great care in serving the food and wait time is much less here- to wrap up this review, food here is of great value and portion size is big
Food is decent!
Drunken noodles are the best, and the hostess is the best.
Great food and friendly staff. Their crispy rolls are HUGE and I love them.
Our go-to Thai place in the area. Friendly service, tasty entrees
This restaurant makes good Drunken Noodles, if you like spicy, go for the "Thai Hot" it's has a good peppery flavor and satisfying heat. Otherwise start at medium, great food all around though 😋
I eat here frequently and have NEVER been disappointed. Great food and friendly, responsible staff and ownership. Recommended!
So its 5:32 and this is the seco d thai pla e that says they are open but are not..The door says current hours , mon-fri 11-8..next to that is a note that they are closed today..&How hard is it to change goolge my business..wont beback ever again..have spent 75 minutes driving around teyi g to eat dinner.
Eaten at several Thai restaurants, this is by far and away the best Thai available. Chicken pad Thai is amazing
The best Thai place I have ever gone too. The sauces look the same but the flavors are way different. Food wasn't too hot. U also got the medium spice. But man fresh and just flavorful. If I am craving Thai food and I am around it will be a no Brainer to go back. The price is about 11 to 13 dollars per antree
Food was pretty good though I did find two pieces of chicken gristle in my stir fry. Service was terrible. They were very busy but they didn’t give me my ordered tea until later in the meal so I was unable to drink much of it. Also it took a long time for the order to come out.
Delicious and great portion for lunch. Average lunch portion is $10. Actually can't wait to eat there again. I asked for extra spicey... And hot dang they produced...I won't lie, I handle hot/spicey very well and this lunch may or may not have caused some grief later that day hahaha. Hat off to you guys! I won't order it that hot again but will get it HOT... Just keep the words extra spicey above hot away from your order unless you want to be using a paper towel on your whole head while you manage to eat half the meal...
.What a great thai restaurant. Not the largest, but that shouldn't dictate how good a restaurant is or isn't. Their food is delicious, portions are very fair. I haven't had a disappointing meal yet, recommend anything from the general thai food to their unique entrees. I typically come for lunch and their house fried rice is one of my favorites.
I’m so glad this place is here.
Good selection, friendly staff, good portions, well priced.
I've been coming to Bangkok Sala Cafe for years and even when I moved out of the area I keep coming back anytime I can. The service is always prompt and friendly and the food has always been delicious the quality has never let me down.
First time going to a Thai restaurant.. I have nothing to compare it to.. will I go back? No.. I ordered a sweet and sour chicken that was soggy by the time I got home. But it was still very hot.. also ordered Drunken Noodle with seafood combo.. it was good.. also Vegetable Delight with curry. My Son liked it, 5 out of 10 stars.. lastly Chefs special Fried rice with shrimp.. On a good note . Staff was great.. we went in to order and they gave use drinks to wait . But I have to say, I'm only giving it a 3 star because of the soggy chicken in the sweet sour chicken..
Had a group of 10 for a birthday lunch and everything was superb. The waitress was super friendly the food was amazing and the atmosphere cozy and quaint. We'll definitely go back. Especially for such a large group everything came out Timely and with a smile.
P20 peanut curry with mix of meats this is and always will be what I love about Bangkok Sala Cafe. Wonderful hot and sour soup.
Great food!
Great food. Great service. Great price. Great experience!!! Thank you!
Shrimp fried rice is amazing! Very friendly service and good food.
Great food.
This place is FAR AND AWAY the BEST Thai in the Farmington Hills area. Perfect amount of spice and the Hot and Sour soup is so addictive!
Great food, great service
Good food.
The owner staff is great. Some other staff can be slow sometimes.
The food is better eating in, than in takeout.
My favorite is N4. Pad Thai curry.
Staff is very friendly, Informative of the menu if you have any questions. Food was very delicious 😋. I will revisit
Amazing service and food
Excellent food and service at a great price.
My favorite Thai food restaurant. Pad kow pode is my Jam. Their brown sauce dishes are the best around imo
Always solid Thai food on all my favorite orders. Best one for miles, and it keeps me coming back for work linch and the occasional pick-up on the way home
Great food and very friendly staff! Just ordered food tonight and everything was perfect. 5 stars for sure!
Pad Thai lacked flavor ☹️
P19 was legitimately bad. Just partly cooked vegetables in a bland sauce.
Great food and great service.
Always great food and friendly service
Bangkok Sala is a great little Thai spot. It's near my work so I go for lunch occasionally. They have great lunch specials (big enough for leftovers the next day), some of the best hot and sour soup I've ever had, and I've always had friendly service.
sadly, got severe runs after going here. not sure as to why though. scared to come back after that...
Large portion and serve is fast and friendly.
Love their food. I have never had a bad entree, but more than a few times I've called to place an order and they were inexplicably closed. One time I called on a Thursday during their normal business hours and got their voicemail stating they were going to be closed Friday thru Sunday. Huh? So you just never know.
Favorite Thai place, I won't go anywhere else!
Best Thai food ever!! I love it here. Very friendly and helpful staff and very well kept. Traveling over an hour for take out for my daughters birthday because it's the best.
The food was delicious and well-priced. The service was friendly and top-notch. We brought a group of ten and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend this place.
Good. But got card declined
Friendly staff! Wonderful choices for vegans.
Always great food.
Best in Detroit. At lunch you always get shrimp chips, hot&sour soup, plenty of rice, and the entrees are perfectly spiced
Food was horrible and it gave me instant diarrhea
Very good food
We are from Toronto and have been here MULTIPLE times... BEST! Thai food ever
Nice place, quality food and great service.
Incredibly flavorful and delicious food, plus their staff was so nice and helpful! I ordered the Panang curry and the Pad Pak, both with chicken, and they were amazing. Thai food is my favorite cuisine and this restaurant definitely did not disappoint. Highly suggest eating here.
Fresh friendly always a pleasure to walk in
This is the best Thai food! I've been eating here for almost 20 years and still go out of my way to stop here. Service is quick and the food is consistently delicious!
Excellent 👍 food.
Great food, great staff! Make sure you get their loyalty card.
Very good food & friendly, fast service
Delicious service was fair to
Don’t give you enough meat
Tasty food and good service.
Good food
Good, lunch dine in is excellent
Excellent customer service food was great
Great food, eat there weekly
Ok food at an ok price.
I got tom kha for my starter and stir fried veggies with bamboo for my entree. The food tasted good actually and authentic, I ate almost all of it. However the next day I woke up with food poisoning. Wish it was different.
The lunch prices are very reasonable, the Pad Cashew with mixed seafood was tasty and just the right spice level for me at least. The service was prompt and friendly. Will visit the restaurant again 👍
First time trying thai food. I liked it.
First time customer. Ordered Pad Thai, Curry Pad Thai, and Crab Wontons, all of which were absolutely delicious! Plus, service was friendly, professional, and fast. Having tried several thai places around Farmington, I was very pleasantly surprised by this one.
Nice restaurant. Service quick, price reasonable.
I've eaten here 3 times and ordered out once. Every time, I've really enjoyed this restaurant.
ATMOSPHERE: Booths lining the wall and tables in the middle. You will always be aware of the other customers because the place is pretty small. Decoration is not unlike most other Thai restaurants I've been to in the area. Good place to share a meal with a friend or small group.
STAFF: Incredibly kind people. I always get smiles from the staff that I see working. Also incredibly speedy. There is no delay in getting the menus and food out. Not all that talkative.
FOOD: Very generous portions both for takeout and dine-in. The food is great. Not so good re-heated. You also get a bowl of soup with most of the dishes. When I went with my friend they also threw in some shrimp chips on the house which was a nice bonus :)
Good ole thai food 🤤
Best Thai around. Been coming here for years and are never disappointed.
The place is just filthy, smells of dirt, almost evey booth has a tear in it that rips your clothes apart.
Love the Bangkok Sala fried rice!
Had the apple salad it was very light, refreshing and filling for a great lunch.
My fav is N4. I recommend it.
