The food is good, especially their veggie stir fry meal.

The service is not that good, because the cashier who waited on us spoke very bad English. It was so frustrating explaining things to her. Those cashiers need to learn better English.

The atmosphere is okay, especially with all the Christmas lights and decorations they have.

Their location is excellent - about a mile from us.

Good food at good prices, and very personable service.

Diner Review №4

The only Thai place I eat at in Ann Arbor anymore!

The servers are very kind to all their customers, and the food here is simply delicious and full of flavor. I’ve never had a bad meal here! They also decorate the restaurant throughout the year and have a good array of drinks.

My favorite thing to get is the panang curry, and it is always well seasoned, has great flavor, and has just the right amount of spice. I come here now at least several times a month because the food is that good.

Diner Review №5

Just went in for sweet-and-sour soup and a crab Rangoon both are very delicious and very satisfying

Diner Review №6

I ordered the Tom Yum soup with shrimp and the sweet chili shrimp. Between the two dishes there were not even 10 shrimp. 3 in the soup, 4-5 in the actual dish. The sweet chili shrimp was mostly breading. Gross. Won’t be back.

I dined in at this location on 3/15/24. There weren't any salt or pepper shakers anywhere to be seen, so I requested salt and pepper after receiving my food. But in response, the employee at the counter stated that they didn't have any!!! Excuse me, but what restaurant doesn't have salt and pepper available at all??!!!!

I was at the same restaurant location two days before this, and a different employee was working at the counter. She cheerfully provided me with a side container of salt and pepper, no problem. But on the visit on 3/15, after I informed the employee at the counter of this, she spoke to another employee in a language that I didn't understand. She then stated that she'd provide me with salt and pepper THIS TIME, but that IT WASN"T HER JOB TO DO SO!!!!!!!!!! Then who's job is it? Was I supposed to go behind the counter and into the kitchen to find the salt and pepper myself or something??!!!! Completely and astoundingly unbelievable!!!!!!

How about putting salt and pepper shakers on the tables instead? Problem solved then!!!

I guess if I dine in here in the future (and that's a *big* IF), I'll have to bring my own salt and pepper, just in case this same employee is working at the counter again when I place my order. RIDICULOUS!!!

Diner Review №9

Super fast service great food friendly lady working counter

Diner Review №10

Horrible. Long wait, waited for over an hour to pick up my order. Walked in was told it would be 10 more minutes and waited an hour!!

Diner Review №11

Great food, friendly staff!

Diner Review №12

I'm basing my rating on the food, since I don't want to criticize this place for being something it isn't. It's got seating but seems to be (at least at dinner time) mostly a take-out. But there is a lot of room and it's clean. Also, the trash is cleverly hidden behind a counter with some stuff on it so patrons don't have to look at it. Good call!

I had a soup and entree. I really liked the spice spectrum they had posted. I picked "Medium Plus." For the soup, this was very nice and spicy. For the entree, it seemed more like less-than-medium but I wasn't disappointed because A) the flavor was so good and B) the portion was very generous.

I'll definitely be back!

Small family restaurant. No atmosphere, and no service, but the food was delicious. I would go back if I was in the area.

TOOK AN HOUR TO GET OUT FOOD

Diner Review №18

Clean restaurant, friendly staff and excellent foods. We make it a point to stop by when we're in the neighborhood.

Diner Review №19

Great Thai food! Their pad Thai and drunken noodles are delicious

Diner Review №20

Please please please change from using Styrofoam containers, especially for hot items! The food is literally melting through the containers. I ordered their chicken wing app tonight and when I got home the wings were poking out of the container in multiple places due to the hot grease from frying. I will not order this item again until the to go containers are changed because it's literally poisoning the food.

With that being said though the other items I order come in reusable plastic containers and are great portions for the price. I do however wish that the add on options for toppings weren't $2 each for everything as that gets to be very expensive. 50 to 75 cents is way more reasonable for the small portion of additional toppings being added despite paying $2 for it.

I've tried the wings, spring rolls, pineapple fried rice, green curry, pad see ew*, and the Thai tea - all have been delicious. Only been twice and got take out each time.

We have been ordering takeout from Thai Spoon for four years. Food is delicious and ready in minutes of placing the order. Perfect for our lazy weekday evening dinners. Over the years they have kept their prices low making it a great value.

I specifically asked for very very spicy in my food. They actually did make my food searingly spicy. Thank you. So many restaurants do not do it, but you listen to the customer. The food was awesome, spicy and incredible. Would definitely recommend.

Diner Review №32

Friendly staff and great food

Diner Review №33

please note this was my first time trying Thai food - food was really good and served fresh. it was a bit spicy (i ordered medium like I do when I order Chinese. next time I will go with mild or maybe even no spice). the flavor was good though and it was enough that I managed to get three meals out of it.y husband regularly gets sent to saline for work and we will definitely eat here again.

Diner Review №34

Found meat in a vegetarian dish; otherwise no complaints in ~5 years. It’s a go-to comfort food option, this is the first issue we’ve had.

Diner Review №35

Diner Review №36

I work about 5 minutes away, so I've been ordering here 1-2 a week for about 2 years. Over the past year, they have upped their prices twice. The food is still good and has only slightly dropped in quality, but it's no longer fairly priced. I used to be able to get a soup and entree for $ 14. That same meal is now $22+ for food of lesser quality. I get that inflation has taken its toll on everyone, but $8 for a wonton soup is just ridiculous.

*edit. Now, they're charging a "support local fee" of $1.49. Thought I was supporting local by buying your food..? I'll support another local business from now on.

Diner Review №37

Diner Review №38

I usually give 5 stars even if there is minor issues in food or services however in this restaurant my overall experience was not very good. The staff who was taking order was extremely rude and wasn't friendly at all. We were asking for spice level and she behaved like she is doing some favor by giving info.
Food was good and it deserves 4 ⭐ price is also reasonable but service & attitude is below average.

I would go there again because of food.

Diner Review №39

Very Disappointed in my meal. I ordered NO SPICE, and it was extremely HOT.

Diner Review №40

New menu with much higher prices. Check out menu pics before you place your order. I paid almost double what I expected. Food was good. But small portions for the price.

Diner Review №41

First time here and let me tell you this is far from worth it. Don't even suggest to come here to spend your hard earned money. I got a take out and the box was filled of oil to the brim. I LITERALLY got a scoop of broccoli and beef. This place is a joke to try to finess people out of money trying to save a buck. This place needs to do better and stop scamming people.

Diner Review №42

I typically don’t like writing bad reviews, and this is not necessarily about my food not being good or palatable, as I think the portions are okay and food generally is flavorful enough to satisfy me when actually ordering lunch out, something I don’t often do as it’s already expensive and generally not healthy. With that being said, they have raised their prices far beyond anything acceptable. $2 for every added topping is insane. A whole bag of carrots at the store is $2, celery $2, onions $2. If you add these said topping to say a fried rice, and maybe a couple others you are now charging me $26! I know what inflation is, and I also know what losing business is, and from the other recent reviews I see you are receiving, you are doing a great job at just that. I won’t suggest we get Thai Spoon at the office until the prices come down. Pictured is standard chicken Pad Thai I get often, it’s okay, nothing special.
I have gotten many items from this location(and their sister location in Plymouth) shrimp spring rolls are good but those also went up in price, possibly doubled.

Diner Review №43

Worst DoorDash order ever. My “Tom yum” soup was actually just broth, the “fresh rolls” tasted old and the “sauce” was simple white vinegar, the salad didn’t have taste and the “peanut sauce” was a synthetic disgusting mix. Horrendous. Fortunately DoorDash reimbursed me.
Avoid this place until they are willing to be professional.

Diner Review №44

Seemingly the quality has gone down or maybe just different people on shift. Not sure, but I've been here multiple times and could count on a good meal. Now prices have increased and the food quality has gone down. The last time I visited the beef was tough and not flavorful, paid extra for shrimp and barely received any, and the noodles did not taste fresh. On top of this I paid extra for the larger size and my container was not full.

Diner Review №45

Got take out a week ago, it was very good. Today repeated some items and got some different ones. The food was barely edible. We threw out most of it. What a waste of money.

Diner Review №46

This is usually my go to Thai food spot so I was at shock when I was dealt with such rude service. I placed an order and call back within two minutes after I was told it would take 20 to be done and asked if I could get no peanuts due to a peanut allergy, they told me no and that I would have to buy another order on top of the order I placed. Told him I am highly allergic to peanuts it result in a hospital trip with a response to. That’s not their problem by another order. So I am no longer a customer very rude

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №65

Crazy, over the top sweet. Green curry that was 85% cloyingly sweet liquid and drunken noodles that were 97% sickly sweet noodle. Fried shrimp and chicken rolls were quite good but served with a sauce that is seemingly a clear, flavorless sugar water. I half wonder if patrons are being pranked. Heat spice levels were quite high. Otherwise food was reasonably well prepared. Nothing was burnt. Nothing was undercooked. I'd just take the six-year-old "make everything taste like candy" recipes and toss those out. This whole review is based on only 3 dishes in one visit, but the fact that two were ridiculously sweet and the third came with an otherwise flavorless, thin pure sugar syrup (maybe there was some vinegar in there) makes me think this restaurant is run by somebody who can only taste sugar at 1/100th of the average person.

The service was fine. The dining room is nice enough. The food seems to have been carefully prepared. The value was poor in my opinion. $11 each for entrees that were either 85% sauce or 97% noodle with only 3 small shrimp and what seems like less than one egg worth of scrambled egg just seems like a bad deal to me.

I think the biggest issue for me is the recipes. I do not fault them for doing things poorly. I got my order correctly and they clearly were careful with the food. I just didn't like how it tasted.

Diner Review №66

Very good food!

Diner Review №67

I had drunken noodles with beef. It was delicious and I ordered mine king size for $15. Other places I've ordered from on Uber Eats charge $20 and you get it as a regular size entree, not king size.

Diner Review №81

I ordered a Pad Se-ew no spicy. However, my food was full of soy sauce, and it was super salty. I just ate a third part of my food before my tongue got hurt for the salt. I had to throw it away (I don't like to do that) but it was really impossible to eat. If you like super salty food, it would be your place.

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №86

We ordered 6 lunches on 4/4/23 and they were delivered by GrubHub. I had a question about my order which was Fried Garlic Black Pepper Beef Stir Fry ($11.09) with added broccoli ($1 for 3 tiny pieces), added white onion ($1 for 6 slivers), and extra beef ($2 for a total of 6 pieces). It came in a big round container which had a 1/4" of liquid, 4 water chestnut slices, and some scallions.
My question was if the portions are always so small (much less than 1/4 of the container had food) or did the driver help themselves to my lunch? The top of the container was smashed in.
I didn't have a chance to call yesterday so I called today and tried to explain my dissatisfaction. The man I spoke to asked a number of questions about the order then said I should have called yesterday and blew me off. So I told him that was not a good way to handle a complaint and said I would air it on Yelp instead. He was silent so I did.
I paid way too much for what I got or the GrubHub driver also had lunch on me.
Either way, the man at Thai Spoon should have at least offered some sort of explanation - not the lame "you should have called yesterday". They won't get anymore of my money unless he responds with a satisfactory answer. BTW, he understood everything I said so he can't hide behind his accent. Very disappointing!

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №88

The absolute worst Thai restaurant experience. The drunken noodles were completely black which I’ve never seen before. They tasted like someone burnt them and then dumped a ton of soy sauce in them to try to hide the color. Super salty and completely inedible.

Diner Review №90

My new favorite Thai restaurant in Ann Arbor! First impressions were great! Clean parking lot, clean store, and a friendly employee. I got home with my Curry Pad Thai, and it was amazing! Portions were way more than I expected for $10. The Chicken Satay was awesome too!

Diner Review №91

Diner Review №92

Delicious but, the medium was way spicy!! I thought I was playing it safe but no, it was too spicy for me.

Diner Review №93

Diner Review №96

Diner Review №97

I was excited to have another Thai option in town, but we won't be ordering from Thai Spoon again. One dish was ordered with extra shrimp for $4 additional, and there were very few shrimp in the dish at all. All of the dishes were much too salty, one intolerably so. Although the flavor was good, this stir fry was soupy and the overly salty sauce had to be drained out. We made extra rice to make this dish tolerable even though the dish came with rice. The pad see ewe was reported to be a dish of noodles and broccoli, but there were four small pieces of broccoli in the dish, just enough to be a garnish.

Overall a big disappointment.

Diner Review №99

Diner Review №100

Great food at a great price!

Diner Review №101

This is a carry out restaurant with table where you can eat. The food was average. I would prefer to have table service.

Diner Review №102

Food quality was reasonable, prices where reasonable, portion size was reasonable. We ordered online and went immediately to collect it and then drove home. By the time we got it served it was COLD, disappointing to say the least.
Wish Washtenaw County required health reports to be posted, I checked online and they have had a lot of potentially serious violations.

Diner Review №104

I ordered pickup and she gave me a free drink because my order was late because of a problem in their system. Great service!

Diner Review №105

Ordered the lunch box and my spring roll that should be crispy is swimming in excess juice, which is sadly normal. It's more a curry than a stir fry.

Diner Review №106

Best thai in Ann arbor

Diner Review №107

I don't think you should ask for tips, when I come in place an order wait pay and leave. McDonald's doesn't

Diner Review №108

Terrible ... Simply terrible.

Since arriving in SE Michigan, I have been searching for good Thai food. When I saw the rating for Thai Spoon, I thought I might have found it. Unfortunately, it was not very good.

My first impression entering the restaurant was it is a bit of a hole in the wall. Worse was that it was terribly cold in the restaurant. The thermostat on wall showed 59F. Seriously? When the temperature on the street is 38F, you need to turn on the heat!

Second, we ordered at the counter 5 items. Total cost was just under $30. They call you to pick up your order at the counter. The food was prepared pretty quickly in under 10 minutes. Now to the food ...

Soup Tom Yum with chicken had no vegatables and although the broth tasted okay, the soup was COLD. I guess when the restaurant is like a refrigerator, it's hard to expect hot soup?

The Basil stir fry had very little basil and was very very salty. Additionally, it had lots of liquid that even the side of "al dente" rice provided could not soak up.

For the Thai salad we were given just chopped vegetables with tofu that looked like it was fried yesterday … I can do that myself at home! And no sauce/dressing? I double check menu description and yes, it is supposed to have peanut sauce. I ask for sauce at the counter and they gave me a thick, dark brown sauce that didn’t taste like peanuts. It is so thick that it is more like a paste and not easy to add and mix with the salad. Disappointing.

Shrimp fresh rolls were okay with the sweet vinegar dipping sauce, but nothing that was so good that you would remember this the next time you craved Thai food.

The only good thing was the Thai Iced Tea. It was very tasty.

I have tried eaten real Thai food in Thailand and have found some good Thai restaurants in my travels (see my other reviews). Unfortunately, this restaurant is not good. I cannot recommend this restaurant. In fact, I strongly suggest avoiding it.

As a Doordasher I deliver for this restaurant alot so it must be good. The guy forgot something in an order one night and called me back to get it but was kind enough to provide a delicious treat for me for my inconvenience. Great staff, apparently great food. I will be trying them on a day off.

Diner Review №113

I love their pad thai and thai tea. They are always super fast.

Diner Review №114

It is a good place - not every dishes are amazing but they are all good.
The spice level is fair to intense so be aware.

Service is super fast and kind. Portion are generous and the price is fair.

Location is extremely clean and this makes for a simple - yet - very good experience.

The Pad Thai is really delicious.

Diner Review №115

Diner Review №117

First time back in over 2 years. I believe the food quality went downhill. (My family used to order a few times for takeout before the pandemic, and we were satisfied.) Current review a couple days ago - Service was quick, and staff was friendly. But the food was way too salty. My brother ordered many variety of dishes for our large group. All were soaking in excessive sauce with each plastic take-out tray only about 1/2 to 2/3 full of food. This is one of the worse experience eating Thai food in the Ann Arbor - Detroit area. Almost every dish was very salty although we ask for lower sodium if possible. Also not a fan of using so many disposable plastic containers, plasticware, styrofoam cups, .. while dining in. I hope Thai Spoon improves quickly, . .otherwise will not be returning back. Take care and good luck!

Diner Review №118

Best thai food in the Ann Arbor area. I order from here on a weekly basis

Diner Review №119

Through grubhub they tried to charge me 2 extra dollars for a 'special requests when all I added was we have an allergy. Also paid extra for extra additions like peanuts and potatoes at a dollar each and both were missing. Drunken noodles and pad se ewe noodles taste the exact same or they gave me the 2 of the same of one.

Diner Review №120

Not the best pad thai. The shrimp was undercooked and the broccoli was unbearable to chew. Couldn’t event finish it. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Diner Review №121

Service is usually quick and the food is good, but even the mild spice level is really spicy compared to other Thai restaurants. I usually order medium or hot from other restaurants, but here I find even the mild is too spicy for me sometimes. If you like very spicy food you'll like this place, but if you're sensitive to spice I would avoid it.

Diner Review №122

This is my first time being here and it was delicious! The spices and flavor was radiant. Was not bland at all! Highly recommend

Diner Review №123

Diner Review №163

Diner Review №164

I highly recommend Thai Spoon. It's great for work lunches or meeting up with friends. Be careful when ordering spice level because hot is HOT. I would recommend medium unless you know you can handle the spice. I always appreciate restaurants with true heat levels!

Diner Review №167

I have come here many many times and have never had a negative encounter. However, today the woman at the window was very rude! I simply asked if garlic could be added to my meal. She didn’t say anything to the cook regarding the request. So, after the food was presented I repeated the request politely. She grabbed the food and added the garlic (I hope it was garlic) I haven’t started eating yet. She says the next time I would need to pay extra. I told her that I would have no problem paying. I asked if there was a problem, why are you being rude (actions and tone were horrible)? She say they (referring to the cooks) are busy. NO EXCUSE to be rude to a customer. I told her that being rude would cause her to lose customers!

Diner Review №174

When called about the mistake with their scallop pad see eww they tried to tell me the order was correct . The lady tried to doop me into thinking that was the “ correct” noodle as said on the menu . NO WAY this is pad see eww . I eat Thai food on a regular and this was a huge disappointment . Afterwards I asked if you could just correct the issue by making it right and she declined saying that’s what they use . Don’t waste your money because they are robbing you . Real pad see eww photo is what you’re supposed to get . This place is garbage . I won’t be back . That noodle is used for pad THAI .

Diner Review №180

Good food. Lot's of spice level to choose. Food was ready in short time. Parking available. Good for takeout.

Diner Review №181

Completely unseasoned pad Thai! Inedible, just the taste of plain noodles and salt. Been eating pad Thai here for 5 or more years. Last few orders in the last 6 months have been horribly inconsistent with spice level/portion/flavor. I will not return-this was the last straw.

Diner Review №182

Diner Review №183

My first time trying drunken noodles from here and they were not the best in my opinion. They were really dark as if marinated for weeks in soy sauce. I also paid $1 extra for broccoli and I maybe had 3 pieces of broccoli in the whole thing. If I return here I will definitely go with something else on the menu.

Diner Review №184

not impressed with the pad thai. was very watery and pale. maybe I will try something else and edit this. but for now, not worth 9$ + tip.

Quick pickup. hot when we arrived.. Tasty only tried 2 dishes both were good. Pad thai and red curry. Woth the trip.

There was chicken and egg in a dish that doesn't normally have egg and I ordered tofu. The bites I ate prior to discovering the error were really salty. Siam Square may look shady but is far superior in taste and quality.

Different name, still great food.

Not the greatest experience. Food was bland, soupy and one dimensional. We won't be back.

Pretty bummed about this. The menu selection vs reality we’re super different. Who wants just a plate of minced chicken... the menu gives the impression there are veggies and noodles included, not that it’s a ‘build your own.’ Flavor was good though....

Consistently delicious.

Got the masaman curry, crispy rolls, and a passion fruit smoothie. Curry was AMAZING, lightly sweet from the coconut milk and the onion played really well with that. Crispy rolls were denser than expected but had great flavor and the sauce and texture were awesome. Smoothie tasted great, bubbles were undercooked but overall lovely eating experience

The food here varies in quality; hit or miss. Can't say anything else. The thai manager is very rude - she can't listen to a customer. The others who have answered the phone are nice to speak to. She once missed my extra that I paid for and refused to compensate. Overall, a bad experience.
The previous management (Bangkok Cuisine) was great; loved their flavors and service.
