Diner Review №1

I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai and pork Pad Se Ew today. I am Thai & can say that the taste of these 2 dishes are legit for Thai food. The place is clean & welcoming and the staff is friendly. I will definitely come back and try more items in the menu.

Family of 5:
- Fried spicy dumpling
• Very crispy with a solid flavors. Spice elevates the dish
- Pork egg roll
• the only thing we ordered that was mid. But don't get me wrong it's better than over 50% of egg rolls out there.
- Shrimp tempura
• as fluffy and crispy as you'd want in a fried shrimp. Solid seasoning.

Entrees

- Drunken noodles w/ Beef (Thai spicy)
Authentic Thai levels of spice. Would highly recommend if you're chasing heat and Thai food is what you crave. The combination of sauce and rice noodles was perfect with the only recommendation is ask for extra noodles/meat if you want a larger portion. Only feedback is "more char on the noodle/meat" but that could be preference.

- Pad Thai Beef (Thai spicy)
I know this dish is traditionally not spicy so I don't hold it against this dish for not being as spicy as the drunken noodles, but it was still at a comfortable level of spice while maintaining the flavors of pad thai. Fantastic comfort dish if this is what you're looking for. Would ask for an extra lime for the noodles.

- Red curry (Hot)
This was "too spicy" for my wife and sister in law, but was a comforting warm for my Brother in law and I (we enjoy Thai levels of spicy). So take that what you will if you're looking for heat. The curry itself was the perfect balance of creamy and flavorful without being too overpowering. Definitely something for a rainy day or when you just need a pick me up.

- Tom Kha (Mild)
I am biased in that I do not prefer this dish normally, however it is prepared as authentically as I can gather. The galangal and lemongrass was fresh tasting while also being cooked to tenderness. Where you might find other Tom Kha's have almost "Woody" aromatics, theirs is how you'd almost expect your late grandmother to have served it. It can taste more like home with more spice but that's just me.

Atmosphere/Area

Depending on your background this place is a hole in the wall. There is a security guard that patrols and the area is low-key sketch. But if you look past that then this restaurant is the diamond in the ruff you've been searching for when it comes to Thai food. Centralized in the southern Houston area enough to fill the gap that "Thai Jasmine" left if you went there circa 2012-2018

I went here with my boyfriend and this is the best experience I ever had here!! The vibe feels cozy and their food is so comforting and delicious to where I wanted more. Not to mention, the lady who served us was so sweet and lovely! I had their yellow curry and my boyfriend had the mango chicken, highly recommend if anyone is down for comfort food. 🥰

This place has pretty good Thai food and good service.

However...I was immediately let down after we saw a roach walking across the couch where we were sitting at.

The owner working there said that's the first time she's seen it and it probably came from the vents or something.

I'm not sure, but I was grossed out.

This is the best Thai food I’ve had in Houston. Highly recommend the pad thai and the pad kee mow (drunken noodles). Spice levels are slightly above average, I would go with mild or no spice if you don’t like spicy food.

I do not recommend. Staff was unfriendly and not very welcoming. I'm in the area a lot and will definitely not be going back.

Diner Review №12

As I sit here eating my delicious leftovers, I felt compelled to write a review for this wonderful Thai restaurant.

The staff were very attentive, friendly, and prompt. The restaurant itself is quaint and incredibly clean.

I had three dishes: Tom Kha soup, Pad See Ew, and the sticky rice with mango. I received everything in a timely manner. The food was so fresh and flavorful. The spicy level on my soup and entree was perfect. I am thrilled to have a Thai restaurant so close to home that offers delightful, authentic dishes.

If you want to challenge some real Thai spices— come to Tuk Tuk!

I would recommend their Pad Kee Mao, green curry, papaya salad, and phat kaphrao. Their dishes are very comforting and authentic. Don’t forget to grab a Thai iced tea as well to cool down the spicy dishes 🌶️ 🥵

This place gives me delight for adding variety to medical center food scene. We checked it out for dinner, and we ordered Tom Yum chicken, spring rolls, chicken satay, hot basil, Thai tea and sticky rice with mango for dessert. All dishes contain fresh spices, and the ingredients tasted fresh. Tom Yum offered a sweet, sourish, spicy hot taste that was delightful for this cold weather. The spring rolls come out fresh off the wok, and it was crispy and flavorful with their dipping sauce. Chicken satay was tender and juicy and tasted great with their peanut sauce that cames with it. It is definitely a great variety of flavor for new food experience. Will comeback!

I ordered pick up through their website and it was ready very quickly. When I arrived, I was greeted promptly with kindness and friendliness. I got the pad see ew, steamed vegetables and mango sticky rice. The food was fresh and delicious and good portions. I’m new to Thai food and would definitely like to come back to try some of their other dishes :)

Diner Review №44

I tried the tuk tuk rice hot and baby.. it was better than Benny can’t wait to try the crab rice

Diner Review №45

My friend and I ordered the fried tofu, tom yom soup, green curry and pad see ew and it was all delicious and super flavorful. The fried tofu was a standout because the tofu was fried to perfection (crispy but soft). Everything was fresh and came out steaming hot. I would definitely go back to try more of their dishes

Diner Review №46

I make it a point to try out different Thai places, and this was the best I’ve had in a while. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

Diner Review №47

Really loved the ambience . Food felt super fresh. Highly recommend to visit if you live nearby.

Diner Review №48

The food was amazing, but the people (female “waitress” and male “cook”, sure he was the owner) were so kind, personable and flexible. They were willing to change the menu to your liking. The lady was so funny

Diner Review №49

The food was very authentic. Had a Thai amount of spice. Please don’t order it spicy if you haven’t tried authentic Thai food yet.

A few more smiles from the land of smiles could improve service.

Good atmosphere, a little smaller.

SPECIFIC DISHES:
Pineapple curry:
The pineapple was a little chewy but everything else tasted great. I would rather get yellow curry.

Diner Review №50

Delicous and authentic food that was done quickly; very friendly staff; very clean restaurant and great atmosphere! Highly recommend!!

Diner Review №51

Lovely little place run by real Thai people, big smiles and all! Don’t expect fancy cuisine, just simple super fresh dishes, with well balanced spices. Yellow curry was super, and the Thai tea delicious 😋. Recommended for a quick satisfying bite!

Diner Review №52

Diner Review №53

I work very close by and I've trying something different each week for lunch. I've had the fried fish rice bowl, shrimp fried rice, chicken wings, teriyaki chicken rice bowl, fried tofu, and yellow curry with chicken. Everything has been delicious and the staff is very friendly.

Diner Review №57

New restaurant located in this square. Food was tasty. The lunch special is worth it! There is a diverse set of options for the lunch special, and its quite affordable for 10$. I went with my friend and he enjoyed the lunch special as well. We tried the drunken noodles and pad Thai We also tried the cream puff appetizers. I was so tempted to get an extra for lunch tomorrow! I am defiantly coming back here again, and would recommend even getting a pick up order at that time for the next day if you are busy at work.

Diner Review №58

Visiting Houston and looked for a Thai restaurant near the Med Center - this place popped up. They've only been open about 3 weeks. Staff were super friendly. Place is clean and cute inside. Food was good - flavorful, it arrived streaming hot, and it was at the spice level we requested. We only ordered Pad See Ew (pork) and Tom Ka (chicken) soup. Both were nicely done. We couldn't finish either dish, but we sure tried! They don't serve any alcohol. We'll be back when we visit Houston again. We wish this restaurant much success.

Diner Review №59

Had the green curry and pad kee mow both hot, and Whoooooweeeeee, Think I saw a mountain thai chili peppers in the curry. Left my mouth numb for 15 minutes after eating it all 10/10 would get again. Both were absolutely delicious, and reasonably priced. Will be coming back again for sure.

Diner Review №60

Please go and support this local business! The owners were super nice and welcoming. The food was freshly made and tasty. I got the chicken rice bowl and Thai tea and recommend both. I found out they opened right before the hurricane, and they had to close for a week due to the power outage. I’m looking forward to having a solid option for Thai food in the area and to try more of their dishes.

Diner Review №61

Everything was so yummy! You gotta try the crab fried rice! And definitely get the Thai ice tea, you won't be disappointed!

Diner Review №62

We ordered Pad Thai for carry out, and the food was ready quickly. The restaurant seemed clean. Unfortunately, the food was very bland, and we did not enjoy our meal. My husband ordered Thai Hot and said it had virtually no flavor, and neither did my mild. We won’t be returning.

Diner Review №63

Great food with a great price 😋

Diner Review №64

Diner Review №66

We really enjoyed this restaurant and are happy to see a Thai place in our neighborhood. Everything tasted quite fresh and was packed with flavor. The som tam and Tom yum were our favorite dishes. When we arrived, the owners greeted us warmly and made sure we had a comfortable place to sit. They made sure to check in on us throughout the meal too. Overall it was a great experience and we will be coming back to get their lunch specials 😋.

Diner Review №67

First and foremost, the owners were very hospitable. My husband and I went to see their menu in person and order for take out. We had great conversations while waiting for our food and the place is decently laid out.

We ordered the red curry with beef, which came with rice, tom ka soup with chicken, and spring rolls. We asked for very mild. Boy was it still spicy so beware with the spice level of the curries. All in all, the flavors were very tasty and we will definitely come back to try other items on their menu. So happy that the food was good since this is one of our favorite cuisines.

Diner Review №68

Couldn't wait to try this new spot and it didn't disappoint. Got the pad see ew with tofu mild and it was very good with a little spice. Would've been perfect with a bit more char on the noodles, but i would definitely get it again. Steamed chicken dumplings were perfect texture and good flavor. I liked the wings, but if you like saucy wings they are not for you. Friendly service and nice, clean space. Will be back to eat here for sure!

Diner Review №69

Enjoyed my meal very much. Best Thai Tea around. If wanting Thai food in Medical Center would definitely recommend 😋

Diner Review №72

My family and I tried this newly opened Thai restaurant in Houston near the Medical Center. This is my honest review on the following items, etc.,

Inside: the restaurant was very clean, not overly decorated, very open and has plenty of light coming in from the outside, and have plenty of sitting.

Outside: there is ample of parking spots and easy to find.

Service: owners were very friendly and welcoming and answered questions we had.

Food: we ordered a couple of entrees, appetizers, and Thai tea and water. Most of our entrees we ordered with medium spice level.

Chicken egg roll and pork egg roll - we had requested for the egg rolls to be extra crispy and they came out perfection. Both eggrolls were filled with meat, no fillers. I do prefer the chicken egg rolls.
Chicken satay - came in 4 skewers, chicken came in the traditional skewer and was moist and tender, and I absolutely loved the peanut sauce that came with the satay.. probably one of my favorite highlights.
Moo ping - came in 4 skewers as well, it was charred beautifully and was tender, and it came with its own sauce, but I didn’t get to try it since I preferred the peanut sauce from the chicken satay.
Shrimp Tom Yum Soup - my heart was so happy to see a lot of mushrooms and fresh shrimp (cooked of course) included with the soup. The broth was like a warm hug, but I would say I would like the temperature to be a little hotter. Spice level tasted mild to me but my spice tolerance is pretty high.
Pag See Ew Beef - if I knew that we could add more noodles for an extra charge I would have. This noodle dish is one of my favorite and go-to Thai dishes whenever I go to one, so I will be very critical on this one. It was delicious for sure, but I was looking for the smokey taste that was missing on this one. Spice level on this one tasted mild as well.
Pad Thai - it was a solid choice, you can never go wrong on this one. It had plenty of noodles and chicken. We also requested for the noodles to be put to the side and they honored this. Spice level on this one tasted mild as well.
Crabmeat Fried Rice - I actually really enjoyed this one. I wish I was able to eat more of this, solid choice for sure. Spice level on this one tasted mild as well.
Panang Curry Pork - (not pictured), another dish I wished I ate more of, it was another solid choice. I really enjoyed this one, creamy, and the spices were all there.
Mango Sticky Rice - it was warm and not too sweet. It was a perfect dessert to have after all the food and the heat. It’s soothing and like a warm hug.
Thai Tea - it was so good! You have to try it.

Definitely recommend and would love to come back to try the other items on the menu.
