Very crowded. Good Thai food and pleasant service.

Diner Review №2

Good tasting food, very unique, cozy ambience. Been there a few times. Loved the food. However, their portion size has shrunk. I would say by 20 -25%. Probably due to inflation.

Over 40+ years, I may have eaten more Thai food than any other style. In Wheaton, there were 5 Thai places within a mile of each other. Sisters Thai is consistenly the best I've had across the country and abroad. Take measure of signature dishes like Panang chicken, Tom Yum, the curries, crispy fish, chicken cashew, et al. But, Sisters has many dishes you'll not find at any other Thai restaurant. The menu is quite creative and extensive. Even a simple dish like the Wonton soup is not to be skipped. The dessert menu is another highlight, one of the biggest and best dessert selections you'll find anywhere in the area. Worth coming here just for dessert and a cocktail. The decor is like a little village of rooms with books and curious toys. There are 2 bars as well as many outside patio tables under canopy or umbrella. I could and should eat here 2 or 3 times a week.

I thought I should write this review. I’ve been to this place a number of times because their food hit the spot. On one fine summer afternoon, I was 8 months pregnant, craved for something sweet. I ordered take out 2 desserts from here. I came and picked up the dessert I ordered, paid for it. I, then asked if we (my husband and I +2 kids) can be seated because I was craving for more food (again, pregnant). They had maybe 6-7 other tables dining. We were seated, I opened my dessert at the table, asked for menus and utensils. We were ignored for a good amount of time. Again, pregnant with children, summer sitting outside) They brought utensils out and threw it on the table. We asked for the menus again, wasn’t brought to us for a while. We ordered MORE food, they all came and still had no water, the kids were thirsty while they’re eating. Like why am I being treated like a criminal. Ohhhh you guys have to keep reading. All said and done, we ate all our food and the dessert, cravings were satisfied for the moment. Asked for the check and one of the girls brought us the check and said “Next time, don’t do that again”. Like mom, what did I do? Ordered carry out, paid for it but wanted to eat more? I’ve seen rude staff here before but not this rude! Was I being discredited against because I was pregnant? That ruined the taste in my mouth and my husband’s. The girl was visibly rude, pretentious and served with ugly attitudes. Like have a heart, be respectful, love your job. If you hate being there so much, then go work somewhere else. But like learn how to be kind first, won’t costs you a penny. Maybe it’ll earn you more tips!!! I’ll take my money and my cravings to Bangkok Garden, they have bomb drinks and desserts!

I eat a lot of Thai food. I've been to almost every Thai place in this area. Few have been as expensive as this one. And I simply can not understand why an entree costs 18 dollars. I ordered a noodle dish that was overcooked to my taste and the serving was shockingly small. It wasn't bad, it's just not even close to being worth 18 dollars. It should be at LEAST 5 dollars cheaper. But it's certainly gorgeous in the restaurant. You're paying for the atmosphere more than anything, kinda like everything else in the Cabin John Shopping center admittedly. So no, I wouldn't go here unless you love how the interior looks. I would instead recommend Kiin Imm on Rockville Pike. I hope this place improves and gives us some more bang for our buck though!

My parents really wanted to try the Sisters chain after seeing them on a Thai YouTube channel. So we went to the closest location to us which is this one.

My husband and I have tried this place once before when they first opened and thought it was meh. It's been several years now so we thought they would improve but they did not.

Food was mediocre and it just baffles me as to why since the Sisters in Fairfax (old town & mosaic) is so much better.

Also the staff couldn't even be bothered with us (4 adults and 2 young kids). I guess it's because we took up the 6 top without a reservation... but we went right when they opened so we can be in and out. By the time we left, the place wasn't even packed. I felt like the staff were pretentious and in a way tried to rush us out because they automatically included gratuity when it wasn't listed anywhere on the menu for parties of a certain size.

Anyways, definitely won't be back to a place that doesn't even want us there.

Diner Review №11

The place in general was pretty good. The service and atmosphere was lovely but the food wasn’t particularly good (we were most disappointed in the duck, which was quite dry), but otherwise it was a good place!

Diner Review №12

Flavor is amazing!! Super tasty and delicious!

Downside is that the portions are very small. And the waitress was not friendly. She needs to work on her manners.

Diner Review №13

Very good service and food. My friend and I ordered the crispy spring rolls, yellow curry with chicken and Pik Khing with pork. I also had the Aun-Chun lemonade and my friend had a glass of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Can’t wait to come back.

Diner Review №14

Yellow Curry (chicken and shrimp) was great, full of flavor. Highly recommended.
The server left us unattended for too long. We have to wait long to place an extra order, desert, or to ask for our check.

Diner Review №15

Absolutely horrible service. It really takes some nerve to automatically include gratuity to a table of four people, after providing such awful service.

Diner Review №17

I always order the drunken noodles with chicken , the BEST drunken noodles in the DMV area. Whenever I order from other places I get very dissapointmented and feel that I wasted my money. I love the taste and the ratio of vegetables and noodles (other places load a lot of noodles and dont Get the taste right) also I can tell time and effort was placed into this dish. 100% recommend Sisters Thai for drunken noodles!

Diner Review №18

I’ve visited Sisters Thai a few times in the past and generally thought the food was good. Unfortunately, after today’s experience, I don’t see myself returning.

I ordered the Crying Tiger, a dish that’s typically known for its bold flavor and spice, but it fell short in both areas. The beef was cooked without attention to preference, arriving well-done instead of having any degree of tenderness or juiciness. My girlfriend tried the Chicken Festival, which was also disappointing. The chicken lacked flavor, and the “grilled” aspect promised on the menu was nonexistent—there was no char or grilled taste at all. The vegetables were unseasoned and plain, making for an overall lackluster dish. At $25 per plate, we expected something with authentic Thai flavors, but what we got felt very basic and underwhelming.

Adding to the letdown, the restaurant doesn’t offer draft beer, yet charges $9 per bottle, which feels excessive given the lack of draft options.

The service itself was adequate but not remarkable, which made the suggested tip range of 20-30% surprising, especially as it was calculated on the total with tax. This seemed like a push for a higher tip without the experience to back it up.

It’s disappointing to feel this way, as I used to enjoy the food and atmosphere at Sisters Thai. The prices have risen, but the quality of food and service no longer match the cost. Sadly, I’ll be looking elsewhere for my next Thai meal.

Diner Review №24

First of all, the service was great. We were quickly seated by the waitress. It was around 7pm, but the restaurant wasn't very full.

The food came out in 15-20 minutes. I think the sisters fried rice was my favorite. I wouldn't say it was the best fried rice I have ever had but it was still above average. The curry dish was very delicious. My only concern was with the beef dish. The meat was pretty chewy and bland.

I would still return next time and order the friend rice and the curry only.

Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

This is a solid choice if you are craving Thai flavors, which I was last week. I happened to be in the area and looked across the gigantic parking lot and saw this place. Lo and behold, I made a B-line over there and put in a family takeout order, as well as a dine-in order of crispy spring rolls.

It was not busy on the weekday afternoon that we arrived, but we sat outside in the heat because it was too cold inside for us two gals.

The spring rolls came out lightning fast. But they were just ok. No discernible trace of Thai flavors, they reminded more of Filipino lumpia. Just cabbage, carrot, and mung bean noodle inside, with some sweet and sour sauce on the side, they could have come out of a frozen meal pack from the store, I would not be able to tell the difference.

The entrees were better, not the best Thai food I've ever had though, but solid takeout. Portions were small in my opinion and the crispy eggplant was not great either, the sauce tasted sort of chemically.

I got the green curry as my main and it was the best for sure. Would recommend. The drunken noodle was also good, not super authentic Thai flavors but it did the job and we enjoyed a nice movie night at home.

Diner Review №39

Food lacked full flavor and ingredients. Mine had a lot of tofu but not enough of the other vegetables. The other plates on our table also lacked the Thai flavor. And too expensive (about $35 per person) for the quality of the food we received.

Diner Review №43

We were able to be seated immediately around noon on a Sunday. The food came quickly after we placed the order.

The entrees were decent, but not special. The appetizers we ordered (Tofu Tod, chicken satay, and Roti green curry) were pretty good.

The staff were friendly and patient.

Diner Review №44

I came to this place since it opened. the dishes were pretty authentic Thai at first, now it's like nothing special. last month, the sticky rice were all dried and hard to chew. time to stop going.

Diner Review №45

Diner Review №46

Good food. Good service.

Diner Review №47

Management needs to wake up!!! The wait staff is terrible. Ordered an appetizer but it never came out. The waitress brushed my concerned aside and said she would remove it from our bill. Also, we never got our utensils/napkins. We had to eat with the spoon that came with the stir-fry. Worst dining experience in a while. Please fix!

Update: The service has gotten much better!

Diner Review №48

Authentic and tasty Thai food. Nice and polite server, the rest of the staff may need a little more coaching but all in all a good place for Thai food lovers who wish to eat authentic Thai food.

Diner Review №50

In my 40years in the USA, I have never experienced such a lousy restaurant. We ordered a Som Tum salad and a Som Tum Set for lunch at 3pm. The Som Tum salad had been made for a long time ago, so vegetables were too dry. And the rice in the Som Tum Set to have been made a long time ago and refrigerated and served thawed in a plastic bag. I never thought there could be such a lousy restaurant in this area. Overall it sucks.

Diner Review №51

The food quality has gone downhill since a year ago. We went to the Potomac location today and it is getting worse: the salad had a weird smell, the sticky rice was as hard as rock, the tofu was also very hard. The service was almost not there: no water until we asked and no checking with us about the food until very late. After we told them the food issue, they only asked if we wanted to order something new. The only nice thing is the decoration. Sisters should slow down their new store openings and pay attention to their food quality and service.

Diner Review №52

Strongly recommend with hot spicy ka prow chicken and authentic Thai flavor

Diner Review №53

If you value a lively atmosphere with homely decorations, a better than usual variety of offerings from the menu and robotic service, then this location and among many others in area is probably your spot. As far as ambiance, the bar has an open feel and I can imagine that on Fri nights would be where you want to park and enjoy a cocktail; however, the dining area where we sat for Sun lunch felt a bit cramped. The litmus test for any Thai restaurant for me at least is the Pad Thai and it was mid. We also ordered the papaya salad which was not only fresh but also flavorful. Khao Soi had a nice yellow curry broth that wasn’t too spicy. Overall though, I get too big to fail vibes with I would say adequate service, inflated prices and a check with the lowest suggested tip amount of 20% to boot at the end of it all. Are you really going to make me do math on my phone to tip you 18% 🤔?

Diner Review №56

Wow, so this is the first time I've had Thai food that really doesn't taste like Thai food. I ordered takeout pad thai and ka pow (basil) fried rice. The pad Thai just tasted like wet, salty noodles. Basil fried rice oddly tasted like Italian food. Neither were great - greasy, low on flavor. I've eaten here almost two years ago and it was great then. This was a disappointing visit. There's much better thai in Rockville and more affordable prices.

I was not able to get my drink with Ukrainian passport. That’s ridiculous. Manager mentioned “some State law”, but didn’t provide to me any documents as a proof. I assume they have no issues with someone with Russian ID. Just think about ethic component of your service.

Diner Review №64

Great Thai food. The phuket surprise was delicious as was the mango salad, and the mango sticky rice was great. The chicken green curry was good (I've had better). Atmosphere is very nice - but very crowded and can get loud. Definitely worth going to

Diner Review №65

The service was HORRIBLE! My friend and I had dinner there on Thursday night, wanting to catch up after haven’t seen each other for more than a year. Our waitress M and another waitress started asking if we were done with our food 40 minutes after we sat down which was less than 20 minutes after we got our food, and kept asking every three minutes or so, I feel obligated to finish quickly, and then she took away my plates and all utensils. I was afraid to ask for refill of water. My friend told the waitress that she was not done with her food and ask them not to keep rushing us. The waitress was not apologetic and argued that it was part of their service to ask if we are done with our food or not. My friend told her that she will let them know when she is done with her food, and the waitress came back and asked AGAIN in 5 minutes! We talked to the manager and ask what is the time limit for dinner and she said 90 minutes. We were there less than 60 minutes and got interrupted 10 times to the point we didn’t know how to continue our conversation. I understand their business is good and they want to turn the table as many times as possible, but rushing customers to finish dinner in 40 to 60 minutes is unreasonable.

Diner Review №66

Very lovely decor and atmosphere. Tried the duck, beef and pink soup dishes and they were very delicious. The ruby lychee drink was yummy and was not too sweet. The mango sticky rice was very good. We sat in the back area where it was less loud and less crowded compared to the front area. We definitely preferred sitting in the back of the restaurant. It almost felt like we were in a library. The restroom has a wall covered with flowers, perfect for a photo. :) the menu looks like a newspaper.

Parking wasn’t so bad when we arrived but we were lucky to find a spot right away.

The staff told us that the wait would be 20 minutes, took down my phone number, and said they’d call me when a table was ready. We went across the parking lot to CVS to buy some necessities and a table was ready in 10 minutes. It was very quick.

The servers were very kind and attentive. They answered questions about the menu with patience and a smile and even provided recommendations that were very good.

Diner Review №67

Nice atmosphere but you will probably want to make reservations if going for dinner, as space is limited. Our server was very pleasant and happily answered any questions we had about the menu. The food was delicious! I would recommend (if your taste buds are a bit wimpy) that you order “mild,” as opposed to “medium.” Medium was a bit too spicy for some in our group. 😉😂 I highly recommend this restaurant.

Diner Review №68

a friend recommended it to us. two of the dishes we ordered were disappointments: crispy duck, the crust smell and taste stale, either the breading or the oil used to fry it was not fresh; the somtum salad suffered from the same freshness issue, the salad sauce (vinegar or fish sauce) was not fresh. otherwise,
it is not bad and may not be totally fault of this location as a lot of dishes are semi pre-prepared centrally. the atmosphere and service were good.

Diner Review №69

I stopped here on a whim and am glad I did. The ambiance of the restaurant is very cute, everything on the menu looked amazing and did I mention that the menu itself is a decoration. The food came out quickly and was just so good. The food was really satisfying and I've been craving it ever since. I also got their lychee drink, which may have been the best cocktail I've ever had. I haven't found a better Thai restaurant since and am planning on coming back very soon.

Frequent patron of the Old Town location and after a recent move decided to try the Sister location in Potomac. Disappointing when compared to Old Town location when comes to taste and value. Then on top of that had to beg for an oz of soy sauce for my meals. If an oz of soy sauce is going to break your business then idk what to tell you.

Diner Review №73

Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had today. My wife ordered lunch takeout for us and asked for “spicy Thai fried rice” and specifically said “I don’t know what it’s called” because there are two menu items that sound very similar (kapow vs kaprow). The ‘manager’ (I use that title very loosely) on the phone taking the order, Patty, specifically said “ kaprow fried rice, yes.” When we got home with the order, we saw it was the wrong order—literally just a fried rice that she modified on the ticket as “spicy.” Not a big deal right? Just call, let them know, and get the food you ordered, especially when you spent $45 on just two lunch dishes. Typically the restaurant and store will want to make it right for the customer. Not so at Sisters Thai in Cabin John. Patty argued with me over the phone and blamed us for ordering the wrong item. When I tried to explain what happened, she very rudely and arrogantly raised her voice and started talking over me. She insisted that she put the order in the way we ordered it and that there was no possible way she could have made an error. So much for “the customer is always right.” We live nearby and frequently order from Sisters in Potomac/Cabin John. I just brought the food back to Patty, got a refund, and went over to Chopt where my business is more appreciated. Personally, my family and I will never patron Sisters again. Judging from the other reviews, it looks like my experience with rude and impolite staff was not unique. I don’t recommend Sisters Thai. Check out one of the many other food options instead, like Colada.

Diner Review №74

The food itself here was very good, 5/5. I especially liked the khao soi and the crispy filet fish. However I think the price for many dishes was maybe 20+% more than other very good Thai restaurants in the area, so don't think it was worth the price. On top of that, something that irked me was on the receipt, the premade choices for tip amount were 20, 25 or 30% (never seen a restaurant without a 15 or 18 option and certainly never seen a 30). Not only that, but the recommended tip amounts were calculated on the post tax total, so to me this just seemed rather greedy and disingenuous. Despite the good taste of the food, this left me with a bad impression of the restaurant as a whole.

I am a huge fan of the chain and so happy they've been expanding. New Tysons location coming soon! My friend and I stopped in recently on a busy week night. I made reservations in advance. We ordered the green curry, fried fish, chicken pad see ew, and the mango coconut milk with sticky rice for dessert. Everything was delicious. The fish is a must order as there were no bones, had great Thai basil flavor and it was fried perfectly. The service and food here is as consistent as the other locations.

The staff was really attentive and our food came out quickly. The decorations are similar to the other locations. The noise level here can be a bit loud and I found myself talking over other people. Seating area is a bit tight so if you have a party over 6 there maybe some wait time. Definitely save some time for dessert as their signature Magnolia desserts are delicious. Prices are reasonable for Potomac and its a great place to dine for some authentic Thai food.

I am not well-versed in Thai cuisine. So I had no expectations as to what lunch was about to be on the Thursday I trekked over to Sisters in Cabin John Shopping Center.

Let the record state: the food- all fresh and phenomenal. I had a vegetable stir fry that was more than plentiful and simply superb.

Drinks executed to absolute perfection. The decor and the ambiance- I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be (if that makes sense- there was a comfort to it). I highly recommend you venture out to Sisters.

Whether you live for Thai or are a “first Thaimer” like myself, there is something to be enjoyed and appreciated by all!

Diner Review №105

Very good food but pricy for the portions

Diner Review №106

We have tried your restaurant more than twice!
Staff were gathered around the bar, only concerned about their loud conversation ( not very professional). We mentioned to the hostess that we were waiting for a couples ( we sat in the back). Since she was more interested to join the others staff to continue their conversation, she did not tell us that the couples was waiting on the other side!
And unfortunately for us the food that we have ordered each time is not up to par. Yesterday after a simple fried rice and noddles dishes, there was no taste to it.
Plus, I like to know what kind of préservatifs (MSG) you are using ? This morning it is a violent migraine and stomach issues!!( no wine, just one simple noddles dish!).
That will be our last time .

Diner Review №107

This could have been good though tonight, our very rude waitress refused to provide one of the space heaters despite my child and I being cold. She outright said it wasn’t cold enough and wouldn’t turn it on for us. Unfortunately, the service is just terrible due to poor management and poor training.

We ordered appetizers and entrees—all of which arrived at the exact same time outside—so our entrees were cold by the time we finished our appetizers. Really unpleasant experience—oh and she gave herself a 20% automatic gratuity.

Diner Review №108

I ordered panang curry for take out and got it at medium spice level. I found all these chilis in my curry and was way spicer then I have gotten at other Thai restaurants. No flavor at all in any of our dishes.

Diner Review №111

Tried this branch twice, hoping the second time would be the charm. Nope. Different hostess each time, but both were equally rude and weirdly aggressive. Simple things like asking for water or a box felt like we were pulling teeth. And here's the thing – no matter how good the food might be, if the service is poor and outright terrible, it completely ruins the whole dining experience. All we wanted was a laid-back dinner, but the unwelcoming vibe and subpar service left us upset on both occasions. Can't see myself coming back unless there's a big change in management or staff training. A hard pass for now.

Loved the atmosphere! The decor is well thought out. The ladies room is super cute. The food was pretty good. I had the Num Tok salad and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The seasoning and portion size were great. However, some of the beef was tough to chew. My husband had the Pad Tai. He said that it was flavorful with ample shrimp of a good size. The service was good- not exceptional, but good. I live in the south- so I’m accustomed to southern hospitality. Southern Hospitality is a real thing and I always have to be mindful of when we travel.

Our favorite Thai place in the area. Especially good are the duck dishes, pad see ew, satay, and the ginger perfect (we get it with pork) is pure perfection. We have been consistently pleased. If there’s someone who wants a honest review on this restaurant, here it is. Don’t waste your money here at all!! My husband and I love eating Thai food everywhere in the DMV. We haven’t had one problem in any restaurant but this one! We came in today and got the worst attitude by ALL the female staff. They humiliated and embarrassed me in front of everyone, just for asking for a more comfortable seat because we were going to order lots of plates. We usually don’t speak up on that but I decided to today, & it went the worst way ever! They proceeded to laugh in my face and pretend they didn’t understand what I was asking them. They started talking to each-other as a staff and proceeded to talk in their native language. They ignored me completely!! To add to all this, they gave us tap water from their sink 🤮 Their food is highly overpriced and they give you small baby portions. YALL SAVE YOUR COINS & YOUR DIGNITY!!!!

Diner Review №130

I’ve brought my family here half a dozen times and each time the service was less than friendly. Food is good. At first I just overlooked but today I’be concludes it’s just probably poor training on the managements part as the server literally threw the check and my credit card on my table without even a word. Could be that their business model is just get ‘em in get ‘em out. Compare to say Cheesecake Factory where they’re happy to have you vs seeing u as just another check.

Diner Review №131

The food is good and the service was fine BUT are too aggressive with the tipping aspect and its a total turn off. Waitress made a point of physically pointing out the total after cash was used to pay half of the check total (like "make sure you tip on THIS total") and you should never recommend tipping that starts out at 20%. Tips are just that and what the wait staff makes is between the wait staff and the business owners, not the customers.

Delicious Thai fried rice. And we always loved the Magnolia desserts!

Diner Review №133

Great service. Spacing between other tables and patrons is a tad bit close. Can hear their conversation during my dine-in experience. Food was a 7/10. There’s no kids menu but, was grateful for the waiter offering Icecream to my daughter as we celebrated her great grades and art gallery exhibit that night! Thank you guys!

Diner Review №135

Terrible service and subpar food. Would not come back to this place, muny much better That restaurants in the area.

Diner Review №136

Food is good, but service is terrible! CHECK YOUR BILL!!! They add things to your bill that you did not order, like an extra drink. That happened to us more than once.

Diner Review №137

The location, food, and service are excellent. All the dishes I have tried are savory, aromatic, and a delight to my taste buds. I live close by and this is by far my favorite Thai Restaurant. Unfortunately, there is a lady at the bar who answers the phone for reservations and take out who is extremely rude. Not sure why she is dealing with customers when she always seems unhappy and unpleasant.

Diner Review №138

The food and dessert are fine, but the tips are calculated after tax and the lowest option is 20% while there is basically no service at all

Diner Review №139

Had the crispy wontons and drunk kapow !! Amazing 👏 service was quick as well.

Notice a trail of bad reviews complaining about service? Well, here's another one.

My wife placed a dessert take out order for herself. We planned on grabbing donuts from Dunkin for the kids, but they ran out of donuts. No problem, we'll take everyone to Sisters Thai for dessert instead. Boy, was that a mistake.

We enter the restaurant and ask if it's okay to only order dessert. The hostess says yes and we also let them know we placed a take out order. We sit at our table and order 2 more desserts. Everything is normal up to this point.

Next, our take out bag gets dropped off at our table. No utensils in the bag so we wait about 10 minutes. A waitress comes by and drops off utensils. My wife asks for waters and the waitress scowls and grunts to give her a minute. The same waitress comes back with water and says "don't do this again" like we're some little children who have done something bad. Not sure if she was referring to only ordering desserts or about the take out order, but my wife explains what happened. The waitress isn't in the mood for chit-chat and walks off as soon she's done dropping off the water. The same waitress was very good at dropping off the check the microsecond we were done eating. The check was dropped off not in a friendly way, but more of a get out of here way.

I certainly will not "do this again" and eat at Sisters Thai.

I want to the restaurant to place an order the lady works at the bar is the one I tried to put my order on from the beginning she showed me very nasty attitude I tried to calm my self down and focus to order but for every question I asked she really respond to me very unfriendly or unprofessional way I called the supervisor on the floor and explain to her everything but I don’t think they take customer seriously I don’t recommend no one to that restaurant I’m so disappointed.

My Unsisterly Dining Experience at Sisters Thai in Potomac, MD

On March 16, I had dinner at Sisters Thai with a girlfriend. It was my third time dining at the restaurant, and perhaps her fifth in 2023. I love Thai cuisine! I had a cocktail. We shared the garden spring rolls. I ordered the Pottery Shrimp. She had Sisters Fried Rice. Our dinner was delicious.

Near the end of the meal, one of the servers encouraged us to complete our order because the restaurant was closing early. I ordered a desert waffle. It came promptly. A few minutes later, the bartender/server brought the check folder. She placed it between water glasses on the small circular table. We continued to talk since there were three tables of patrons finishing their meals. They had been seated after us.

It was at this point our restaurant experience took a turn for the worst. The bartender returned. She reached over us, picked up the check folder and slapped it down so hard it made a noise. She, then opened it, glanced down at us impatiently and scurried away.

Perplexed, we stared at each other nervously, wondering why she was being so rude. Minutes later she came back, snatched up the folder and stormed away to the register. When she realized it did not contain payment, she hurried back to our table and insisted a payment form be provided.

I informed her I would be using Apple Pay. She barked at me to follow her, walking briskly to the register, approximately twenty feet away. In consideration of my safe space, I chose not to follow due to the deterioration of her demeanor. I thought it best to keep my distance. Unfortunately, she stood at the register, glaring at me.

I raised my hand to signal another restaurant employee, who was walking by our table. I informed her of the bartender’s ill-treatment, which was seemingly focused on rushing our departure, while others around us continued to dine. She apologized and summoned the bartender over to do the same. Candidly, the apology seemed halfhearted and insincere, as it was a direct result of being prompted.

I was requested to “please” go to the register. I followed. Unfortunately, an accommodation to the check was not offered in consideration of a very unpleasant and most unsisterly dining experience. I quickly paid the bill and left. I did not leave a tip.

I am a 68 year old African American woman who dines out often. Luckily, I have never been treated with such discourtesy and disrespect before by a restaurant server. I will not forget my experience at Sisters Thai Potomac.

Diner Review №146

Fun, fresh, and the sisters have it going on!

Diner Review №147

Very good food. Fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked and right balance of spices exactly as ordered. Decent selections for vegetarians. Cozy atmosphere was icing on the cake. Garden rolls, cashew stir fry, red curry and purple potato latte were all yummy.

Diner Review №148

Diner Review №149

Loud, loud, loud. Service briskly efficient but not very friendly. Excellent Thai food. Tables too close for comfort. Blood orange margaritas gets 5 stars.

Diner Review №151

I loved the ambience, very modern and the service was great. The food did not 'wow' me but I can say it was really good.

Diner Review №152

Food was delicious and the service was good. I found the seating to be a little to close to other parties, and I found myself hearing more of the conversation from the party next to us than our own. I would definitely return.

Diner Review №153

Simple review, I think the food sucks. Go somewhere else if food not sucking is what you're looking for.

Diner Review №154

Very expensive, but good.

Diner Review №155

Food was amazing , so fresh and fast. The environment was a vibe, I would expect a better serving experience for the delicious food and the beautiful restaurant set up, so one star drop for that reason.

Diner Review №156

분위기도 좋고 맛있음

Diner Review №157

Worst dining experience ever. Let me ask you all this. The food is good, and location is good but very busy. Does this mean the servers are allowed to be very rude to the customers? The lady servers were showing attitude the whole time and it bothered all of us during the entire time at the restaurant. They even charged 20% tip without my authorization and included in the bill. Does this sound like a place you would come back? Food is not everything. If you are treated good from servers, food will taste better. If you are treated unequally and bad from the servers, regardeless how the food is good, it will become piece of garbage.

This place in Potomac, the lady servers, who totally misunderstanding about themselves that they are good, were the WORST SERVERS. The discriminate, they never smile, they are playing boss on us.

I do not care about the taste of the food. If anyone who reads this review thinks food taste comes first and server attitude is second, go on and keep having bad experince and let them enjoy playing boss to the customers.

If you think dining experince and having friendly server experience as the first, I difinitely DO NOT recommend this restaurant.

To the Servers who happen to read this review: BE FRIENDLY! BE F.R.I.E.N.D.L.Y. I am sure you know what this word means. DO NOT PLAY BOSS TO THE CUSTOMERS. CUSTOMERS ARE THE ONES WHO GIVES YOU MONEY. Remember this or you will lose more and more customers and will end up closing down the business. Remember this.

BE COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY TO THE CUSTOMERS. YOU GUYS ARE NOT THE BOSS.

Diner Review №158

I just had dinner (5pm)with my friends here, and had very bad service from servers/waitresses( not only one, all female servers were so rude), they were very very rude, unfriendly. I was very upset but since I invited my friend I am trying to calm down for them. It was my third visit, and always not pleasant experience. I won’t come this Sister tai restaurant never never never again.

Really adorable setting- very comfortable, quiet, and picturesque. Had the lunch special and ordered crispy wontons and green curry with chicken. Only $13! Wontons were superb and curry was the perfect lunch portion size. Very flavorful with the eggplant and peppers. Service was also pretty good. Will be returning!

Diner Review №162

Loved the vegetarian options they have. I ordered Crispy Eggplant. The flavors were excellent and was spicy as well.

Tonight 12/20/2022 @~5:00 pm I a 100% disabled vet who was ordering a meal for my wife suffering from 3rd day of Covid tried to place a phone order so I could leave her side for the shortest time. The Sisters phone was off the hook. I drove 20 minutes in rush traffic to the Sisters and placed the order in person. I informed the young man at the register that the phone is off the hook. He denied it was and chose to argue. I dialed the number for him to listen to the circuits busy. He then hung up the phone and took my order. We are regular customers and TIPP well in cash. Ii asked for the Owner/Manager. The bartender said she was out buying supplies. It is tragic that this normally well run restaurant with excellent food and good service is in decline. I expected a thank you for informing the cashier that the phone was off the hook at their busiest time. I got a rude argumentative denial.

Diner Review №175

Having dinner with my friend to celebrate my birthday here. I love Thai food and I wanted something light for dinner. This place has perfect portion for all the dishes. The portion is small so we could try several dishes and still have some leftover to take home. The price is very reasonable considering it’s in nice Potomac area. The pottery shrimp is highly recommended. I definitely will go back here to try other Thai street food.

Diner Review №176

Nice restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and the staff are kind. Was lovely to sit outside and enjoy a meal.

Diner Review №179

We were quite disappointed with our visit to this place. The food lacked Thai flavours and spices and by spices I don't mean just chillies. Originality was missing and when I questioned the lack of Thai taste I was told that they were catering to American taste. 🫤. When we requested for things to be spiced up the food was brought back to the table with the chef probably adding all the chillies he could find making the dish almost impossible to eat. Therefore unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant as a good Thai food place.

Diner Review №180

Came here for lunch Saturday, overall the food was good! Top favorites were the Crispy Duck Curry and Pottery Shrimp—big portions for lunch, and both dishes were well flavored and delicious. Tried the Som Tum (green papaya salad)—that was okay. For drinks, the Ruby Lychee smoothie was pretty tasty, a bit too sweet though.

Diner Review №182

I’ve been to Sisters Thai in Fairfax multiple times and this was my first visit to the one in Potomac. I’m happy to report the quality is just as great as the other locations. I had the passionfruit sparkling drink, which was very refreshing and the right balance of sweet and tart. I also had the fried chive dumplings and the drunken noodles with chicken, which is always a classic order for me. The food was hot temperature wise which I always appreciate and the flavors were spot on. Definitely recommend this place.

Diner Review №183

This is my second time eat this restaurant. I went in to order the pad Thai. The staff was so Rude, sound like she may be a manager or something which less of a reason for her to have that attitude for costumer service. No welcome smile, no “thank you” only attitude gesture. Need improvement. The food was ok. I will not be back.

Diner Review №184

They do not value customers and make us feel like we are not welcomed. They kept bringing the check and did not value our experience

Diner Review №185

This is my first time leaving a bad review but things has to be said. We ordered appetizers, main course, salads, cocktails and even though we ordered another set of cocktails they brought us the check without asking if we are continuing to order. Me and my friends ignored it and enjoyed our drinks but they kept sending a server to touch/adjust the check's position on the table and our server told us to leave because we spend more than 2 hours. Then, the manager came and told us to leave again despite the empty tables. 1- There is no sign or indicator that there is a 2 hour limit. 2- We were continuing to order and enjoying our drinks. Disrespectful staff& manager& this is not the first time this has happened. We are paying customers, and respect a server's and restaurants time but when we are actively ordering and spending a good amount of money it is not a good customer service technique to constantly visit the table/ ask us to leave. Never visiting again.

Diner Review №186

1st experience food and service was excellent. Waited 20 minutes Saturday @6pm for anyone to take our order after being seated. Felt like we were in a Dr's office. Decided to go elsewhere to be served.

Diner Review №187

Best of the Best Thai cousins in Town. Very warm and charming places. Service was Pleasant and Friendly.

Diner Review №188

Great customer service, nice design features, and good food.

Diner Review №189

The atmosphere is great and cozy, the service is needed to be more friendly they needs to focus on creating great experiences at every touch point, not just at the dinner table. That was no greeting enthusiastically as soon as we enter the restaurant, it was no friendliness as we got seated at the table. Small gestures like these can show us that the staff cares about providing a positive dining experience but that wasn't the case. The food was ok but wasn't something that I will come back for, the curry was more like a shrimp soup than a curry sauce it was very watery not enough vegetables only 3 pieces of eggplant but this could be a reference I like my curry sauce reduced and thick, the steak the flavor was good but the steak was overcooked.

Diner Review №191

I’ve been to with friends and family more than a few times. The service is fast. The food didn’t disappoint especially the drunken noodles with beef and the Thai tea. However, we stayed over a bit longer to chit chat after paying the check and although there was no one waiting, we got a few stink eyes from the service staff🙂

Diner Review №192

Absolutely horrible service. This is my third time here, and every time without fail there seems to be an issue with accommodating me because of my child. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but three times is enough. Go somewhere else if you have children.

Diner Review №193

We were here with a child and were not accommodated. It seemed like they did not want families with children to dine there at all. My husband gave his number and they agreed to an outside table for us. They said they would call him and never did. Moreover, the outside table was open. When we came there, we pointed to the open table and they said they couldn’t put us there as we would be in the way. The attitudes of the team were not friendly and the service was so poor. It’s not easy to go out dining with a child to begin with, and the attitude of this restaurant was neither empathetic nor helpful.

Diner Review №194

Refused service for a table of 4 with two children. Extremely poor service and not accommodating for families.
