Best Thai Food, Dessert, and Bubble Tea in Town
The ambience and service at this restaurant was great. It was very busy on a Sunday afternoon but still the seating didn’t take too long and the food came quick. We tried the padthai, healthy rolls, honey shrimp, chicken curry’s and mango sticky rice. Most of was pretty good other than the honey shrimp which had no taste other than straight up honey.
We arrived on a Thursday night and it was super crowded with a twenty minute wait. It was well worth the wait. The pineapple fried rice was delicious and seasoned to perfection. My best friend had the lamb of two seasons which was also very tasty. The drinks were strong and good.
The surprise star of the show was the mango sticky rice, OMG! It was buttery sweet and the perfect finale to a great meal. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. Ask for Earth (that's right, our waiter's name was Earth) and he took amazing care of us. He was very knowledgeable, attentive and his service was top tier.
The restaurant looked very pretty and vibe was quite nice. However, the food was not authentic Thai. Everything tasted very sweet so I m a bit disappointed. We got the healthy rolls , k spicy wings and gyoza for starters. Then I got the pad kra pao with chicken which tasted very sweet even though I asked for highest Thai spicy . My husband ordered The lamb coconut milk based soup which was nice but again very sweet. They only dish that we liked was the lemon grass chicken soup.
Our service was also not great. Our server kept forgetting stuff.
The chairs are very light. My daughter fell down twice and another kid on the next table also fell down while we were there.
The dessert was nice. We got the chocolate mousse.
All the dishes prices are on the higher side.
100/10 would definitely recommend. My mom on I went on an early dinner date tonight and we were blown away by both the dishes and every drink. Our server was Earth, pretty cool name and he was so awesome! He recommended all of his favorite dishes (which we went with) he took really good care of us. Cindy is the manager and she was walking around checking in on tables and stopped to recommend the Love Youzu since I don't drink alcohol very much. It is now MY FAVORITE DRINK. It wad so tasty and fleshing!
The place is decorated with a holiday theme, it’s gorgeous inside. I could not stop taking photos. Literally from the time you walk in the door, the entire restaurant is beautifully decorated.
Crab Fried Rice
Branzino
Kapaw (chicken)
Spicy Eggplant (pork) I would never order this but my mom wanted to try it -- 10/10 easy. It's delicious
Dump cake
Chocolate lava
Dump cake -- flavor was so unique and I couldn't stop eating it!!
Everything we ordered was hit and tasted so fresh! I cannot wait to check out some other menu items! They have a forever customer in me!!
Amazing Thai Food Experience – A Must-Visit!
This place offers the best Thai food in the area, hands down! The atmosphere is perfect, and the service is both attentive and efficient. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, their desserts took it to another level—simply to die for!
This has officially become my go-to spot for Thai food, and it never disappoints. Even after multiple visits, I’m still amazed by the consistency and deliciousness of everything. Highly recommended!
Dok Khao is a beautiful restaurant with great food. It's one of those restaurants you would like to take your guests to, in Columbia/EC area. Merriweather District where it is located is also very vibrant and happening.
Their vegetarian fare is fresh and tasty. Service can be better though.
Absolutely wonderful Thai food. I had the Fried Calamari and the Lychee Duck Curry. The Calamari, although a bit rubbery had great flavor, was battered well and was very good with the sweet sauce. The Lychee Duck Curry was fantastic. Very flavorful, with the perfect blend of spice, sweetness and savory. Excellent service and lively atmosphere.
Great service! Our server was very helpful with recommendations as we were first timers. The food was delicious. We had Dok Khao Pad Thai and Seafood Drunken Noodle. The desert was especially nice! We both had the Mango Sticky Rice but get the one with Ice Cream they give you riper mango there. That’s a pro tip
Will definitely recommend to others
Hostile greeter, dangerous fire, poor food, and terrible service.
The greeter’s attitude was unpleasant from the moment we arrived. Instead of offering to seat us, she immediately suggested takeout. When we opted to dine in, she awkwardly placed us at a cramped, makeshift table in a corner.
Things quickly worsened when a fire broke out due to safety hazards in the overhead decor, caused by a birthday candle. It took 7-8 staff members to put out the fire, and smoke filled the entire restaurant, prompting many patrons to leave.
Despite the chaos, our food arrived quickly but was a letdown. The drunken noodles tasted like reheated leftovers—overcooked and lacking vegetables and tofu.
We were a couple of bites in, when the greeter began aggressively moving our table, adding more tables to ours without asking. When we asked to move to an empty table, she became hostile and insisted we return to the original spot after initially agreeing.
I calmly explained we were uncomfortable and just wanted a similar space, but she rudely dismissed me, telling me to sit down, growing increasingly angry as the conversation went on and treated me very badly.
Her behavior was uncalled for, and at that point, I lost my appetite. We left without eating, but the greeter followed us outside the restaurant, continuing to argue and demand we pay. I refused, and after a brief description of events with the owner, we were told to leave. There was no apology from anyone, and we left feeling disrespected, hungry, and frustrated.
Food and drinks were delicious. Got the street noodles I think it was. Very cool drink selection. The designs were amazing.
Worst attitudes ever! Could give 0 if possible!!!!! Never dine in here anymore.
If you are a Thai food lover, don’t skip this place!! I’m always on a search for some pad thai and this place did not disappoint. Between the food, drinks, scenery, and service I have to say this is my favorite Thai spot in Maryland so far.
They keep us eat our food faster. We have not finished eating first and the server got our food without asking us if we are finished .
My favorite Thai place so far that I've found in Maryland. Everything is very tasty.
The ambience and service at this restaurant was great. It was very busy on a Sunday afternoon but still the seating didn’t take too long and the food came quick. Incredible Thai food and the best service and staff! We come here at least once a month and are always impressed with everything! So glad to have a great Thai restaurant in Columbia!
I usually get the Pad Thai or Pad Si Ew when I eat here. One of the better restaurants in the area. You get quite a lot of food for the price.
It is always an enchanting experience. From the food, service, and ambiance, old and new customers are equally delighted.
This was my first visit, and I will surely be back. Such a great space, quick service, and the food was amazing!!
Loved the food. Hot and perfect spicy level. Didn't like that we were sitting in between two other tables with their backs to our food table.
I love the ambience here at Dok Khao Thai! It is aesthetically pleasing and IG worthy pics. It's a cute date place for couples and friends, or even brunch for co-workers. My go-to is their crab rangoon and pork fried rice. I also like their Blue Hawaiian Sparkler (non-alcoholic). They also celebrate birthdays wherein you can order a dessert and they'll play a "Happy Birthday" song, bring a candle sparkler, and hold an LED "Happy Birthday" sign. The servers and manager are really friendly too. Definitely recommend going there!
I've eaten here three times, and it has been excellent each time.
Wow. This was an amazing date night experience. The food was absolutely delicious. Left very happy.
It was pretty good, but I wanted get 100% authentic Thai food.
Atmosphere and service was good, I order shrimp pad Thai and it tasted weird. Not sure if it was spoiled or not, but spend the next morning feeling sick and throwing up. A few other people who order the shrimp had stomach pain to
Delicious food every single time!!!
The restaurant looked very pretty and vibe was quite nice. However, the food was not authentic Thai. Everything tasted very sweet so I m a bit disappointed. A bunch of us came here for lunch. We were mostly couples but we kind of scattered a bit and sat a lot of men on one side and women on the other as we had not seen each other in awhile and wanted to catch up. That was the first mistake.
You see, most of the women were quite familiar with this place while most of the men had never been here. When they say we can’t take them anywhere, they mean they won’t take us anywhere. Anyway, my side struggled to order our dishes while the women’s side knew the exact game plan, which my wife shared with me only on our way home. She and my daughter spoke about how good this and that was and I felt missed out and hungry! The pictures below are some of the dishes our side had. Can’t even imagine how good the women’s side were. As soon as they sat down, the ring leader said, alright we are ordering family style and then they all spouted out what they wanted. We kind of did the same, but it wasn’t as nearly organized or coordinated.
Every dish was exquisite! The flavor and texture were extraordinary. Me, being a pho guy, ordered one of the soup dishes and had 3 small bowls to share with friends. But I have to say, it was good but I still prefer the Vietnamese pho much better. In fact, it was probably the least flavorful dish at the table.
Even with all the great dishes, couple stood out. The drunken noodles and the tilapia dish. I could have eaten both of them all day, every day.
You can never go wrong with Thai food but this stood out for the fun and flavorful gathering we had. Or we men just need to go out and eat more.
On other note, there were like 20 of us and he engaged and educated us about the dishes and when we placed our orders, he didn’t write a single item down. And he got every single order perfectly. It came out to each individual. That blew my mind! Either that or they have some communication system with an assistant waiter hovering nearby and writing it down. However they did it, it was flawless and impressive.
Do I recommend this place? Absolutely. Just don’t wait to be invited out.
Service was impeccable and food was superb. Our waitor was fully invested in creating a great dining experience. Can only say, thank you, and we will be back!!!
We had a blast! Food was amazing.
We ate spring rolls and healthy rolls to start the meal. Wonton soup, sticky rice, yellow curry for our main meals.
Every single thing was AMAZING! The staff was kind, friendly, and never had us waiting for anything.
The bathroom was very clean and well stocked.
During the winter, Colorburst Park turns into an ice skating rink. During the summer, the space is open for play with the whole family.
We love going to Merriweather and Colorburst Park and finding a new space to eat.
Grab yourself some delicious Thai food!!
Went to pick up food. Restaurant was busy with lot of waiting. The attitude of the lady in the front was absolutely unpleasant. Working in a Thai restaurant, thai culture is to respect guest / visitors which was missing in this place. Food tasted good but unfortunately can't say the same about the attitude.

Well I search for a place that was serving rice noodles near the area I was in which is Columbia. When I got there I ordered the Dok Khao Pad Thai. Krispy spring rolls, Thai Tea and the sticky rice mango. When leaving out I asked for soy sauce and some duck sauce. The lady at the door seemed like she had an attitude with me and only gave me two packs of small soy sauce. Then I asked her for duck sauce she tells me no and I said no she said we don't have. And I asked her again can I have duck sauce and she said we don't have duck sauce. I said no duck sauce at all? She said no. I have never been to a Asian restaurant that didn't have duck sauce even homemade duck sauce. When I ordered my meal It said that it came in different spice levels. I never told her the level of spiciness that I wanted so I assumed it wouldn't come very spicy at all. When I got home my food was so spicy I couldn't even eat it, a waste of over $40.
The place was very nice looking on the inside and my food at good flavor minus the over spiciness of the dish. I was so angry because I couldn't eat all the food that I had ordered except for the sticky rice and the spring rolls. Their staff should be trained on asking people if they want their food extra spicy or not spicy at all. They also need to be trained on customer service because she was very short with me and I didn't appreciate that at all because I was nothing but polite with her.
I wasn't giving any napkins or offered any utensils. When I looked inside my bag I asked her for utensils she points to the front of the door. So don't expect anything extra but the food, no napkins, no utensils, no sauces
This place was our beacon of hope in a snowstorm tonight! We had driven 20ish minutes to go to Whole Foods and get hot bar before grocery shopping but they were CLOSED before 6pm! So we scrambled to find a restaurant nearby that was open and this was the only one. We were SO HAPPY and surprised to find such a charming place with such great food! I was too hungry and frazzled to truly look the menu over before ordering my standby/favorite Thai dish - Pad Thai with fried tofu and vegetables - but a. The menu had a lot of dishes that look interesting and worth exploring b. The Pad Thai was SO Good! Which was so wonderful after recently having some pretty sub-par Pad Thai elsewhere.
I was also excited about their fruit punch being made with actual fruit and came topped with a ton of fruit - so delicious and a sweet but not guilty treat. My Only complaint is that the staff forgot about the fruit punch for the longest time, even after I reminded the person who delivered our food.
Aside from this one downfall, we were very happy with the service, food, noise level, and esthetic/ambiance. I look forward to going again when it’s not our only option in a snow storm!
Amazing food, amazing ambience, AMAZING server (Chu!!) best experience ever:)
If you’re looking for an authentic Thai dining experience with a touch of modern flair, Dok Khao Thai Eatery is a true gem. I ordered a few of the lamb dishes and the Massaman chicken
This restaurant combines traditional Thai flavors with a contemporary ambiance, making it a standout spot for anyone craving bold, delicious, and well-crafted dishes.

For those who love curry, the Panang Curry is rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The Mango Sticky Rice dessert is the ideal way to end your meal, with its perfectly ripe mango and sweet, slightly salty coconut-infused sticky rice.
2. Presentation

It’s great for both casual lunches and special occasions.

6. Highlights

• Beverage Selection: The Thai iced tea is a classic favorite, and they also offer a curated selection of wines and craft cocktails that pair well with the menu.
7. Room for Improvement
The only minor drawback is that the restaurant can get quite busy during peak hours, so reservations are highly recommended. Occasionally, the
Five stars for the food and five-plus for the service. Three, at best, for the value proposition for lunch.
We love Thai food and we seek it out often. For Americans, we think we have a somewhat refined palate for this cuisine and we can recognize food as an art form when we encounter it. Dok Khao is all that and more. Our Lamb Massaman Curry and Beef See Ew lunch entrees were both outstanding.
Thai food can easily be inadequately or overly spiced. The kitchen at Dok Khao employes the perfect touch of heat-with-moderation. We recognized the cuisine in the spices without having our doors blown off.
As we visited between Christmas and New Years (and during Chanukah!), the restaurant was decorated beautifully - extremely festively - for the holidays (see pics). Service was beyond prompt and super polite - we were in, seated, ordered, fed, finished and out in perhaps 35 minutes. Without feeling rushed.
On a Friday for lunch, the restaurant was completely full by Noon. Now perhaps this was the holiday season, or perhaps this is customary. We do not know, but a word to the wise would be to make a reservation or come early.
Those two entrees and one diet coke set us back $61, with tax and a 20% tip. This is way too much for lunch IMO. Hopelly Dok Khao develops lunch specials. Otherwise, on economics it would be dinner only here for us.
The best Thai food in Howard county and surrounding areas. Be prepared for a long wait on the weekend evenings because the place is always packed because of how amazing/fresh the food is. Super authentic Thai cuisine coming from someone that has tasted the food in Thailand. Highly recommend. The street noodles is our favorite dish along with the Tom Kha Gai soup 🤤
We went when they just opened on a Friday and were seated immediately. The atmosphere was very festive for Christmas. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was 10/10. We had the curry puffs, the cry baby noodles, and the lamb massaman curry. I don’t usually eat lamb, but the way they braised the lamb made it practically melt in my mouth. Will be coming back again to try more!
Best Thai food i have ever tried. Highly recommend “crispy whole flounder”.
Wonderful food, great ambiance, and fantastic service. A must try when in the area!

I ordered Ka Pow Fried rice - less spicey. It was okay . I wouldn't order it again, though. It wasn't flavorful and lacked the usual kick of sauce that I've had before at other Thai restaurants . I would definitely go back again to try something else . I'm not giving up on this place yet 🙂. I'll review another dish on my next try .
This place was incredible! The server was kind and attentive. The food came out impressively quick and was delicious! We ordered the egg nog shots, the steamed dumplings, lamb curry noodles and mango sticky rice. Everything was a 10/10. Adding this restaurant to my list of favs.
The food was terrible, very over cooked and sweet, which was weird because it was shrimp fried rice. This was take out. If I had ate in I would have sent it back, to far to go back. We had to throw it out. Such a waste !!! Total 50.00.
Excellent service. Really enjoyed the food.
The food is good but the service was awful. We went there and we ordered with our server. He never came back to our table despite being nearby, never checked on us, never refilled our drinks and I had to ask someone who was clearing tables for our bill. It’s sad, we really like the food but prices are too high to be ignored.
Very disappointing lunch. Chicken lettuce wrap had old reheated Chicken. Chicken was dry with no flavor and had a very off taste. Tasted like old microwaved chicken. Had to send it Back. Chicken Satay was good but only had 4 tiny pieces that cost $12.95. Food took at least 20 minutes to arrive and service was not great. Restaurant does have a nice atmosphere but food and service is well below average. Restrooms were clean.
Great food, great service! Never disappoints.
Everything about this place was amazing. Food. Service. Atmosphere. 10/10
I went here after a coworker recommended it. I felt sick after eating here. Food here is not authentic; it is the most un-Thai food I have ever eaten. Even my classic mojito was terrible, it was sooooo sour! Everything was either too sour or sugary, and salty all at once and no other spices.
My first instincts were right - there is not a single southern eastern Asian person dining here and mostly any other races - this says not authentic food. Either that or Howard county is so in need of better restaurants. If you want better Thai food, come to Fairfax county in VA; we have so many, you might even move there so that you get more options in terms of real ethnic foods.
Great place to eat! Ordering for take out is great too! Just don’t forget to ask for utensils. 😊
Great food and one of the best Thai food in DMV area. The service is great and fast and the atmosphere is pretty, cozy and welcoming.
This place is very stylish and modern. The food was perfecto in terms of freshness and quality ingredients. Thai rice, noodles were perfectly cooked. They were sticky the right way - not too dry or not too soft. The lamb curry noodles was an interesting combination I never had. It was so fresh and went well with the white rice and rice noodles.
I'd definitely be coming back for sure.
The food is excellent and the service friendly I was with a table of 6. My food was a little behind in coming out but the Lychee Duck Curry was delicious. All of the people at the table loved what they got. Beware they do birthdays up big! And one drawback is it is so loud. We’ve been back twice more for that duck curry. The desserts are amazing too
I had the sesame ginger beef for lunch and my wife had the green curry with chicken. Mine was good, but that curry was so delicious. The place was packed so we sat at the bar.
Very very good food, the staff usually is in a rush but that’s because it’s busy so can’t blame them and if you don’t like crowded places maybe not for you but the food is crazy good
The food is fantastic! However- the acoustics are challenging. Next time we will do carryout because the restaurant was extremely LOUD last Saturday night.
That said-thumbs up in dishes and service. Waitstaff were hopping!
We had fried Bronzino with a spicy garlic sauce, Pad Thai, and Jungle Love
(which we… loved!). Spices were spot on.
I'll try to keep this brief but everyone who isn't palm colored should know precisely what they are getting when they come here.
Context: I should have raised a red flag for them not taking reservations. Most (bad) restaurants do not understand this is as much about accessibility and telegraphing accommodations as it is convenience. But I was hopeful as I had attended a friends privately hosted/catered doljanchi at this restaurant and I remembered the food was good when I suggested my elderly parents and my family celebrate a birthday here. (again this was lowkey we didn't need accommodations other than soft seating for my elderly mother who is partially disabled.)
Anyways we pull up to the restaurant , explain we are a party of six and ask what the wait time would be for our table (assuming our entire party would have to arrive before we're seated). She waved us off an insisted we all be there prior. She then seated an incomplete party of seven ahead of us. (red flag two)
When my parents arrived again due to my differently abled parent I requested to see what table they were going to seat us and it was all hard solid wooden chairs. Of course this was an issue that I flagged and I requested we would wait longer for a booth to more comfortably accommodate our party. They told us to wait at the bar and proceeded to denigrate us (again you really shouldn't assume all black people are monolingual this is like basic). Red flag number three.
We were awkwardly perched at that bar for thirty additional minutes while no one would update us , the host glared at us and multiple pairings of diners with concluded meals (all nonblack) sat there and chatted post meal. Again not a problem other than the fact both pairings were on four tops/joined tables and it would have taken NOTHING for the staff to request one of the tables , join them at the adjacent booth and seat us. They told us they wouldn't (at this point I wanted to leave) so one of my party himself requested the table of the guests and only then did they bother to clean the table we would ultimate be seated at , join them and seat us.
I wanted to leave , but my elderly parents , and nephew were hungry after the wait so against my own instinct we sat and had our meal. the ONLY positive is that the food itself was as good as I remembered it. I'm so soured by the experience that I won't be heaping any more praises on it than that. The entire duration UP until the manager/owner came to collect our bill was pure attitude and disdain from the staff. That might have had everything to do with the (expected) included gratuity for the party.
Again because I was raised to be non-confrontational I let so much slide but two essential facts for future diners , particularly disabled or black ones is that
a.) This restaurant is completely hostile for diners with the most basic of accommodations and only Columbia townies who have not experienced better treatment would be blind to just how bad the accessibility is at the restaurant.
b.) The service is absolutely appallingly atrocious. I have been treated less cavalierly by window bulletproof glass carryout spots and gas station mom and pop restaurants from NYC to LA.
You'd have to be okay making these concessions to eat here but I for one would absolutely never spend my own money at such a grotesquely hostile restuarant. We are spoiled for Thai food in the DMV and I have *still* arguably had better , even though this is good.
Favorite Thai place in VA and MD hands down! Love everything about Dok Khao from the food to the atmosphere.
I brought my family here for my Sons bday dinner celebration. Ambience was beautiful, food was 10/10, our server Ben was so awesome. He was attentive, polite and smiling throughout. I will definitely be back here. Thank you Ben for making today special for my family ❤️
Friendly staff, amazing Thai food, the drunken noodle and beef noodle soup was so flavorful and they were able to accommodate our requests for extra basil and garlic. Had such a lovely dinner and great service from our server Chu. So glad I live close by coz I’m making this my go to Thai spot!
This is our new go-to for Thai food. Everything about this place was awesome. We've been 3 times and will definitely return. If I lived closer, I probably wouldn't even cook anymore. I would just eat here
We arrived on a Thursday night and it was super crowded with a twenty minute wait.
Great food, good service. Lots of energy I'm the atmosphere. Located in a very nice area. Everything I've tried so far (over 4 visits) has been great. My daughter lives locally and this has also become her favourite takeout option.
Great food!
Nice Thai spot in Columbia, food was pretty nice, ambience & vibes were nice… will definitely be going back.. prices was decent
After shopping at the mall, this place was highly recommended by wife’s coworker whom lives near by. Well… it didn’t disappoint at all. We had the chicken lettuce wrap and tofu wings as appetizers. Chicken lettuce wrap was delicious with three different sauces. Tofu wings were just deep fried tofu with sweet and sour sauce. The main courses were really delicious! The most standout was the roti chicken massaman curry! Their massaman curry was exceptionally flavorful, out of so many Thai restaurants we have tried it was probably the best we ever had. Just the right taste in all flavors profile. Also their “Cry baby noodles” from the Netflix Hunger film was excellent, the sauce was tasty and unique. My son loved that dish too. I had the lamb cooked two ways from chef specialties. It was pretty decent. We also had the Doh Khao Pad Thai, which was pretty good too. We finished with Thai cream brûlée which was creative in their taste! We will definitely be back again to try other dishes we didn’t order.
The food and drinks were really good. The ambiance of the restaurant was very chic and modern. Unfortunately I took one star away for the service that was received. Not the best and for some could be a major turn off. It's also possible it was just my server. I would still recommend this restaurant to family or friends.
TLDR version is. Great service, great food. Their drinks are amazing. The ambiance is also amazing.
Longer version is: It was a busy Friday night and I thought it would take a long time to get in. They said it would be 45 minutes but we were seated in 15 minutes. Halloween theme and the place was decorated nicely. We had a large group and sampled a lot of different items on the menu, and everything was delicious. Their drinks are really well made.
We were there few weeks ago to celebrate a friend and mine birthday and we had a wonderful time. Service was top notch, drinks were amazing and pretty which is always a plus, love how quick the food arrived and desserts were absolutely delicious.
Something you don’t want to miss.
Food used to be good but now I think since they’re getting popular, they’ve become arrogant. Food quality has degraded considerably especially for takeout. We ordered Pad Kee Mao with extra vegetables which costs extra but when we opened the box there was only a piece of onion, red pepper and two broccolis. Their Garlic tofu stir fry only had tofu in it. They’re really trying to cut corners when it comes to carry out sacrificing the quality. I think it’s better to eat at Taco Bell or subway than here. At least you get what you pay for.
Welcoming lady at the restaurant should be fired or replaced. She's not really cooperative or welcoming. Never going there again.
The food was way too salty with average service.
Little pricy with small portions.. But great quality food and atmosphere
Excellent food and service!! Can't wait to return soon!!!!
Street noodles are amazing. Would definitely recommend, and I tried their soft shell crab curry Autumn special. Splendid work, and their decorations go above and beyond
We visited on a holiday Monday for lunch, it was quite busy in the restaurant about 1pm. There were chairs available at the bar, but I hate stools, I need back support so we opted to wait for a table. The host staff were welcoming and placed me right on the wait-list. Our wait was a little less 10 minutes. We were then led to a table in the back, close to the restroom with one side being a booth seat.
Our waiter immediately greeted us very friendly and eager to assist. We first order drinks and asked for assistance in narrowing down our selection for an appetizer and we settled on the fried scallion cake. While waiting on the appetizer we looked through the menu with all the great offerings from chef recommendations to chef specials and the regular menu, there are a lot of options. While trying to narrow down our entrees we were able to take in the Halloween decor in the restaurant, very tastefully done! We settled on fried bronzino and whole fried flounder.
Every single thing we had was delightfully delicious The chili tamarind sauce was to die for!!! I promise I made a sound with every bite of my food, it was that good. Everything was fresh and clearly cooked to order. If I had to complain about anything it would be the mai tai I had was a little too sweet for my liking and I'm used to a stronger, less sweet mai tai. Outside of that I am definitely excited to get back to taste their other offerings, something tells me that I won't be disappointed no matter what I choose. Please note the whole fried flounder is market price and we paid about $70, it was 3lbs.
Fun fun place to visit. Beautiful inside and the birthday celebrations you can't help but to join in and celebrate a complete stranger. Can't wait to visit again!
UPDATE: After several visits.
Good atmosphere and decor. Service is also very attentive. The food is very salty across the board. Suggested gratuities on the bill continues to be calculated AFTER tax - this may not be illegal but is disingenuous and says something about the character of ownership.
We went here after one of my daughters took her third-degree black belt test. The food was excellent. The atmosphere was fantastic and the server was exemplary. I highly recommend this restaurant!
I had a thai iced tea and pad thai with steak, both very good. I was surprised by the atmosphere, it does not seem like a thai restaurant, what sells it is the fountain in the middle and the halloween decorations. I was very impressed by my server Chu, he memorized the whole order of our table of 7 people, amazing.
The chicken and tofu were too deep fried dry and hard to chew. The front desk was good but the actual service is left lacking. Very impolite and made us feel unwelcome.
The rating mislead us to select this restaurant. I would have had better food and service at regular neighborhood restaurant.
The duck curry was amazing, all the food was really good?
Had to edit my review the Volcano Thai Cake is literally the best desert I've ever had!
OMG! Everything was wonderful! The ambiance, the food, the service all exceptional. I look forward to going back there soon 👏👍
This restaurant has replaced our favorite Thai food location. We would happily drive the distance to enjoy their authentic, well portioned meals. Their Fried Banana with Coconut Ice Cream is the BEST I’ve ever had.
Fried rice was not as amazing as the other dishes, was missing flavor, quite bland. Was like eating plain greased rice. We tried a variety to include: 2 wonton soups, crab ragoon, a panang curry, 1 pad Thai and the drunken noodles. Everything tasted good but by the end of the evening had the runs. Great atmosphere with trendy decor and dim lighting. The place was very busy so that speaks for itself. I would eat here again but probably dial down on the spice and oily noodles.
It was just amazing! And their drinks were amazing as well
Best pad Thai and boba I've had!
I’ve been coming here since they opened and I order the same thing every time - the shrimp pad Thai. It is the perfect combination of peanuts; bean sprouts, egg, pasta, etc. Usually service is exceptional but my latest interaction was extremely poor. I had ordered my regular shrimp pad Thai but when I arrived it was an order of chicken soup. My friend is Muslim and cannot eat meat that is not halal. It was also an 80 degree day. I explained this to the lady and that there must be a misunderstanding because that wasn’t what we had ordered. She insisted that it was already made and I should just take it. We continued going back and forth between me explaining that we couldn’t eat that food. Ultimately I asked to speak to a manager. I explained that regardless of what happened, I just wanted to pay and order my shrimp pad Thai. Finally the problem was remedied and it was quickly brought out, but I feel that the customer service could definitely have been a lot better.
Pros: decor, food, portion size, drinks, atmosphere
Cons: customer service,
The dining experience at Dok Khao Thai Eatery was truly marvelous! When I first stepped in, I was charmed by its warmth—lovely decorations inspired by Thailand, dim lights, and intimate seating. Their service was outstanding as well; the staff were friendly and had extensive knowledge about their food while making perfect recommendations. I tried out their signature Pad Thai and Green Curry, which were both filled with real flavors. With a perfect balance of taste, Pad Thai had different textures that delighted along with a sourish sauce. Made using coconut milk as its base, the green curry, however, possessed just the proper amount of heat packed with fresh produce and succulent chicken pieces. I also savored the mango sticky rice for dessert because it formed the ideal conclusion to a delicious dinner. It felt like we were taken on a gastronomic tour through Thailand itself! Therefore, courtesy of my experience at Show Khao Thai eatery, I would recommend any interested party in search of the most the most amazing Thai dining experience ever!
Went to order take out and was told they didn’t take debit card (even after my Apple Pay debit card had already gone through). And When few days prior I’d eaten with my entire family, a $300+ dinner and paid with my debit card. Why can’t I pay with my debit card for take out? They better have canceled my charge!
My favorite restaurant by far!!!
The ambience is just amazing here and food too.
An excellent Thai rest featuring authentic Thai dishes . This is my first time dining here. Despite the place being packed the service was quick and the food well prepared. The decor is on point with pastel shades and flowers . The location is ideal to catch a bite before a concert at Merryweather.
The crab fried rice at Dok Khao Thai Eatery is the BEST anyone could hope to find at any restaurant. The large lumps of crabmeat along with the other ingredients and the delicious rice will make you return as I always do when visiting from Florida. If you haven't tried this dish, you are depriving yourself of a great meal. The Crab Rangoon is also very tasty.
I love Thai food so I was excited to try Dok Khao finally. The restaurant was busy with guests dining in and take out orders but my party of 2 was seated quickly. One thing you might notice is the bright and vibrant decor and the gold flatware on the table. All of the staff was polite. We ordered Bangkok wings as an appetizer and for entrees seafood garden delight, with a side of fried rice, and chicken pad Thai. Our wings were good but were not served hot. I really enjoyed my pad Thai. The scallops in the garden delight were cooked perfectly. The fried rice was a disappointment compared to fried rice I get at another Thai restaurant that I frequent. If I had space in my belly I would've ordered mango sticky rice or fried banana for dessert but maybe next time. Overall I would say the food is good, they just have some kinks to work out.
People always post photos of their food.. I'm posting empty plates because we didn't have time to take nice photos- the good food distracted us LOL. I think everyone already knows how good this place is. I could eat their pad thai everyday... I've tried the regular pad thai and the chef made pad thai- both are really good. I cant even remember the names of the things we ordered but I've been here 3x already- I try to order something different each time and it's always a hit!!! This place is also always packed, especially on weekends.. So prepare to come in a bit early than the usual lunch/ dinner time or be patient enough to wait in line... and I promise it is worth the wait!!! Also, the service is top notch. You can see all the servers rushing to get everyone's food (I see the manager/ supervisor putting in the work too) and they know when you've been waiting a while for your food-- they come over to your table to apologize and reassure you. When the food finally comes to your table, it is piping hot and it is freshly cooked!!! I love loooove this place!!!
First time customer, everything about this Thai restaurant is very American .
No Thai vibe, food was so so.
Won't come back
I should’ve taken photos! I loved the inside and the yellow curry and the pad Thai was so yummy.
Also get the curry puffs!!
Fairly authentic Thai food.
Enjoyed the Pad See Ew. I prefer it a little spicy.
This is a beautiful restaurant with unique and delicious food. We loved the lychee duck curry and the sakura seafood. They also have a really amazing selection of desserts and non alcoholic drinks. Our waiter Chu was awesome, super welcoming and excellent service. Make sure you come early and/or make a reservation, this place is hopping even on weekdays.
The food was amazing. Nice atmosphere. They have a great variety of deserts, coffees and drinks. Great place to meet with friends.
I’m sitting in the restaurant right now and I’m so cold. The air conditioning is literally making my napkin blow in the wind. If you want some Americanized Thai food and to eat in a frozen tundra then this is the place for you.
Terrible experience, service was poor, bad or worst. She rushed us like anything, we went there around 8:20 and restaurant is closing at 10, kitchen closes at 9:30.
She rushed us for everything drinks then appetizers then main course then she even bought togo boxes and check while eating. She even asked the credit card, sign the check and last but not least asked for TIP.
We weren’t able to enjoy the dinner at all. Bad experience. At the end entire staff is so weird, they almost asked us to get-out. So that they can close register.
Good food, beautiful place 😍
Excellent atención, delicious food
The food quality is good, but I am very unhappy with two things. First, I specifically requested no meat, eggs, or fish sauce, yet one of my dishes included eggs. Additionally, the Red Curry, which typically comes with three vegetables, contained only tofu and no other vegetables.
I had heard a lot about this place, but my experience with the service was very disappointing.
Shu was our waiter. Amazing service and recommendations. He is very hardworking. Thank you!!
I’ve been to this place many times since they opened. Recently I had a business meeting and brought my wife and toddlers and was directed to seating area. Since I had a business meeting and wanted to have a quiet conversation and can be distracting with another couple 1 foot away, I asked the hostess if we could have a seat in the back. She gave a huff and threw the silverware on the table. We just walked out. Never will we visit this place again.
I got take out and just be prepared to pay at least $30 per person. Decent food but it seems that the portions are smaller when you order to go.
Just too busy, which hurt the service because it was hard to hear and the atmosphere was loud and hot with all the peoples, but the food was delicious.
I love everything about Dok Khao. I was well taken care of by Earth and Nattaya. Food was great too. I will most definitely be there again. I had red curry with rice, fried calamari and Thai latte.
A Taste of Thai
I really love the foods that we ordered! I was in awe when I tasted the Cry Baby Noodle! The authentic taste of noodle that’s cooked in wok over hot fire really hits the spot!
The service is ok. It’s a busy dinner night so I guess that’s why everyone is rushing. Since it’s a busy night, the place was crowded and a little loud.
None-the-less, this is a great place to eat. Looking forward to coming back soon! I wanna try the other dishes on the menu but will definitely order the cry baby noodle again ❤️
I was eating lunch today at 3 o clock great food and great wine a glass of Pino … I asked for the desert menu …. I wanted to order Crème brûlée desert and a espresso… I waited for 25 minutes nobody noticed me … then finally somebody asked me if I wanted another glass of of wine I said no thank you after a 25 minutes wait … i was to disappointed to eat desert.. so I paid and left .. they all watched soccer on television… not busy at all … 🥲
The prices for condiments are exorbitant. The sudden price hike is not justified. This is clearly a case of exploitation. I only gave 4 stars because of the significant price increase.
This is my go to Thai restaurant in Columbia. They give a good portion for the price and the food never disappoints. The pad Thai and the duck fried rice are so good. You can add whatever you want in to it. Very nice atmosphere also. Go here if you haven’t.
Food was good I don’t like nuts but it was alright service was a little slow but good service
Holy bananacakes the food (I got the Red Curry, he got the Panang Curry) was SOOO good! 😍🤤 It's such a cute place (love the rubber duckies and dino on the fountain! 🤣 ) with great atmosphere, and the service was great, too! 🙃
Highly recommend, will 💯 return!
This thai restaurant is definitely one of the best in Maryland with exquisite food and amazing customer service. Pad thai and lamb curry noodles were delicious.
We came with a large group and they were very accommodating. The food was amazing (fried branzino is a must try) and the drinks were delicious. Will definitely be back!
Authentic. Delicious. Tasty thai food. The seasonings are out of this world. There are MANY MANY Thai restaurants in the DMV, and I've gone to probably 25, but this spot just made it my top 3! Deeeeeelicious!! Only place for improvement is in the number of restrooms. There are only two individual stalls (1 male, 1 female) & the restaurant is huge - definitely could use more. Our server was fantastic! We loved this place. Will definitely be back😋😋❤️😁😁
Food Poisoning: Got the red curry salmon to go. It had a weird smell when opening and very fishy. It was cooked but based on how I’m feeling now fish must have been old. Ended up throwing up. Too expensive for the quality of the food.
The food is really good, but I wish the spice level was more consistent. Level 1 doesn’t seem much different from level 3 and my husband who can handle quite a bit of spice was sweating from levels 2-3.
The dinner was served so so quickly. We were eating our appetizers when dinner was served. The food was salty and too much oil. The service felt like they wanted to serve as many people as they could. Disappointed
The cocktail Wanderlust is amazing, not too sweet
You just lost a customer today. We called to check wait time for a large group of 8 and it seemed to have pissed off the lady who took my call. She said it was an hour wait rudely and hung up on me. We call the restaurant next door and the experience was stellar. She took our name down and assessed the wait time and we are headed there now. No matter, what treat your customers with patience. We chose you today and you disappointed us. With all the competition you have out there good customer service goes a long way!
This is one of the best Thai food I've had in a long time.
Best Thai I’ve ever had!
They serve old shrimp and a mussel I was served was left with its hair. Not the best place to eat. Mediocre Thai food at best.
Incredibly fast service with amazing duck fried rice.
I ordered 5 dishes and even though i asked for a little bit of spice 3 out of 5 of the orders was too spicy to eat…smh…. I spent over $100 and my food was to spicy smh… i recommend ask for the spice on the side or they will ruin your food like they did mine…and this is the second time this happened to me here the first time i said regular spice and that was way too hot
