I’m usually a google review lurker, but this place is so amazing I had to share. I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 5 years and walked by this place many times but have never dined until yesterday. In a city with so many trendy restaurants, it is easy to overlook this place at first, but don’t be fooled. My partner and I decided stopped in to check this place out and had an EXCEPTIONAL meal! We sat on the patio which has the loveliest energy and is decorated in a way where you can really tell someone put some love into opening this place. We had a Thai tea and iced coffee, a seaweed salad, a squid steak, crab fried rice, and the garlic shrimp. Everything was delicious, but the squid steak and crab rice were out of this world. Super fresh and generous portions. Everything is priced so reasonably! Our food was a little slow coming out, but there was just one waitress and we weren’t in a rush so we actually enjoyed being able to relax outside and just enjoy the atmosphere. This place has a lot of heart and soul in the food and location, and was a lovely departure from some of the heavier dishes/cuisines NOLA is known for. Will definitely be coming back!
I much enjoy Thai food. They have a lot going for them here; as the name suggests, it is an extremely chill environment. The location amid a quiet neighborhood is quite pleasant, and enhanced by the calm Thai-pop music playing in the background.
The service was great, no complaints there.
In terms of the food, I have a few comments: the vegetable egg rolls tasted familiar to me. That’s because I’ve cooked my own exactly like them using spring roll sheets I bought at the store, hand rolling them and deep frying them. So, they’re definitely rolled in-house, but I never quite enjoyed the taste of the fried wraps. There’s a certain…papery-ness to them.
The main dish, the pad Thai, (which I got with no peanuts), was overseasoned. Too much flavor. I think, dial back a tad on the seasoning, and the dish is perfect.
Room for improvement, but great potential. Thanks for the lunch!
I enjoyed my visit to Chill Out Cafe! I had a bowl of their Tom Kha and I enjoyed it. I had never seen tomatoes or carrots in this dish from any other Thai restaurant before, but I enjoyed the flavors of this addition. The calamari was deliciously crunchy. Our whole table ordered bubble tea but unfortunately they did not have enough boba left, as it was the end of the day. The thai tea and coffee was delicious regardless. I would come here again, and I hope to try their breakfast soon!
Free street parking in a quiet, adorable neighborhood. The service was quick and friendly. The kitchen was accommodating when I asked for my pad woon sen to be cooked with less salt (medical reasons).
The restaurant itself was clean and also had multiple indoor and outdoor table options. I thought the wrap around porch was really adorable for outdoor seating.
This neighborhood was a welcome break from the busyness of the rest of New Orleans.
Very solid Thai cooking, on a lovely porch in thoughtfully designed environment.
Great place for watching people in this relaxed and pleasant neighborhood. Take the St. Charles streetcar out here and walk over, then appreciate the original Thai artwork on the bright blue walls.
Relax your eyes on the copious trees, think curry, close with a wonderful creamy mango sticky rice.
Tucked away house restaurant that makes me feel right at home when walking in. I’ve been there 3 times in 2 weeks. I love their thick massamun curry and their vegetarian fried spring rolls are amazing!!! There is an ingredient I have yet to put my finger on that really separates their rolls from others but it is indeed a pleasant one. A great place to go out on a neighborhood date day or night. Make sure you ask for Pat!!!
The lady at the phone directly hung up on me and I had to drive here to order a pickup in person. And another lady at the counter gave me cold face for no reason. This type of attitude needs to be fixed and they need to apologize.
New: they intentionally added extremely hot spices in my food and refused to refund.
This was my favorite restaurant in the area until today. Anytime I am close I make my way to eat here but today I asked for extra vegetables and I was served spoiled yellow-ish broccoli that had a sour taste.
Although not a huge deal, I put it to the side, and my meal besides this was great, I brought it up to the chef and when I checked out I had a charge on my bill for $3.50 for the broccoli and told that it wouldn't be taken off because it was fine.
Unfortunately I won't be back. I'm sure this won't be a recurring issue in the future but wanted to voice my experience nonetheless.
Loved the Chicken with yellow curry sauce. Soup and salad with the lunch special were appreciated. Good value.
Poor experience … We weren’t greeted when we came in… so we sat ourselves and grabbed our own menu. The server wasn’t friendly. On top of that, the pad seew was dry and flavorless. :(

I have frequented Chill Out Cafe for years and I’m here to say that Chill Out Cafe has exquisite food! They’re a very small operation- one person to perform all front house duties and as far as I’m aware, only one person in the kitchen, but when they aren’t super busy, wait times are not an issue. The front-house manager is super sweet. Always courteous and helpful. Everything is so fresh and delicious. I literally order shrimp
tom kha every time I go because it’s the best tom kha I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The ambiance is wonderful also. Highly recommend!
always delicious & wonderful! love their lunch special. my favourite dish is the tom kha soup!

I’ve never been disappointed with a meal from chill out, nice portions and the best chicken fried rice! the staff is always so friendly too 😊
I really liked my experience in the restaurant, the food was very good. the service also cleans its own tables too. the only thing I didn't like was the orange juice 3 months out of date served to my father

The food here is great! The servers are always so kind and efficient!!
Friendly service and good food at this cute little neighborhood cafe
This is the best Thai food I've had in the city. Super low key lunch spot. The red curry tofu is absolutely the best.
Nice little restaurant with great food!
Their Pad thai was great.
Chill Out is a super unassuming and authentic Thai place in this small NOLA neighborhood. We had some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had here, so you can’t go wrong with the pad thai or pad ped curry.
Their calamari is also by far the best I’ve ever eaten, we couldn’t stop eating it!
And if you make a stop, you really have to order their thai iced tea, it’s unbelievable.
We had a fantastic lunch here. Friendly service and delish food. Don't miss the fresh rolls!
Food was great! I had the Thai Chicken wings and combination rice!! Superb!!
Always good and always relaxed and I love coming here - lately the word is out and it becomes less chill as the crowds realized it’s better than all the rest
Great food and service. Nice relaxed neighborhood vibe
The food here had a good taste but lacked sauce that I think of when we have Thai food. The sauce I had was a little watery as well. I had the Beef Oyster with Rice. The rice managed to soak up most of the sauce leaving the beef a little on the dry side. Also be weary of price creap; a couple meals, a couple appetizers and a couple drinks ran over 60$. The server was friendly, and the food was delivered relatively quickly after ordering.
BEWARE of bad service and extremely long wait times. I used to love Chill Out Cafe, however recently, the service has been absolutely abysmal. I sat down for lunch at approximately 1:20 PM today (Thursday), and it took them about 30 minutes just to bring our waters/drinks. At 2:40 PM (over an hour later) our food was STILL not ready. **Important note: they were not very busy. There were probably only 2-3 other tables occupied at the same time.**
This was a very frustrating experience, and it just felt like they forgot we were there. We ended up having to take our food to go. The waitress did not warn us of the extremely long wait time, check in with us, or apologize. This has happened on other occasions when I have ordered takeout from them (1.5 to 2+ hour wait times, even when they initially say it will take 30-40 minutes).
The food is good, but it's not worth it to wait this long! I have eaten at Chill Out Cafe for years, but I will not be back until they drastically improve their service.
Vegetarians and vegans beware - all dishes have fish or oyster sauce in their base, even if they appear to be veg.
Love the waitress, Pad Thai, and Curry.
Great food and fair prices! The only strange part that keeps me from leaving 5 stars is that they add a 20% tip and then tax you on the tip as well. They also do not do split checks which can be difficult with larger parties
So so so so so good. Best Thai food I've ever tasted, homely comfy atmosphere with pleasant music and a kind waitress. Highly recommend.
Service and atmosphere were delightful, I liked the peaceful music and decor. The food is AMAZING, the best Thai food in the entire South, hands down. Even fancy Houston Thai restaurants can't compare.
I WAS SAYING WOW WITH EVERY BITE -
The most amazing delicious scrumptious Thai food I have ever tasted, kind employees, cute ambience, I wish I could give this place a 6/5, omg it was too good.
Try the red curry and the Lad Na!!!!!! It's too good oml
Best Lad Na I’ve ever had, Himalayan chicken was also rly good. 10/10
The place has amazing Thai food. The spice level is generally low to suit the palate of local people but you can ask them to spice it up. Their Tom Yum soup with shrimp is amazing and a must try. In their noodle dishes I really enjoy the Pad see ew. When getting spicy dishes don't forget to order a Thai iced tea, its very refreshing. The place is popular among students and it can get really busy, so ordering ahead is preferable.
Stumbled upon this cute spot today and thoroughly enjoyed lunch! Can’t wait to get back!!!!
Delicious, fresh, and high-quality. Excellent staff.
Tom Yum soup is pretty good and a nice sized portion for the price. Yaki Udon was very enjoyable as well.
as spicy as I want it to be and I like it crazy , papaya salad as competitive as budsi
better prices than budsi, great lunch value
Food was so good- amazing flavor in each item we had! Service was great as well! Cannot wait to go back and try more dishes.
The location is very nice, and service great! I needed a bit more flavor from the Pad Thai...but I will be back!
Good food friendly staff
Warning, the service is slow. I think they have very little staffing, possibly just the cook and the server/hostess and maybe a dishwasher.
The food was delightful, our server was friendly. Everything was fresh. We got the shrimp green curry and they did not skimp on the shrimp!
ALSO, this is a big deal for me: I asked for very mild curry and they did not disappoint. They made it mild. There was an almost imperceptible amount of heat. Thanks!!
I like the music, the laid-back atmosphere. We sat outside on the porch. It's a great way to spend an evening.
great service and quick too!!
It's so good. I should have asked for something to make it spicy though but wow was it good, Even my 1 and a half year old liked her Vegetable fried rice with tofu

9/11.
Never forget.
Tie iced tea was too cold.
This place was outstanding. From calamari to different soups (especially Tom Yum) to a couple of curries to Pad See Ew every single component has an excellent flavor - nuanced vs overpowering, and everything about it was fresh. Service was excellent. This place is worth your time - we’ll be going back during our visit to New Orleans.
One of the better Thai fried rices in the city besides the fancier Thai restaurants. Pad Thai had WAY too much fish sauce. The curry wasn't great either. Not sure if I'll go back use to love this place.
Nice outdoor seating on the wrap around porch. Delightful neighborhood. Food was good. Service was slightly slow but due to lots of pickup orders. I recommend it!
Fantastic food at a reasonable price. Awesome thai tea 💓👍
Staff is always so kind and friendly, food is great, and the atmosphere is very chill.
Awesome well-priced food, friendly and very hospitable service. Comfortable outdoor seating!
When I first heard about this place I was intrigued by the combo of American breakfast and Thai cuisine, so I had to give it a try. I've come to adore this place! The food is to die for, the servers are polite and timely, and the location is so cozy. (My favourite is the red curry with chicken and add some pineapple, they also have the best Thai tea in town IMO) The restaurant is run out of a renovated house so it blends in well with the rest of the neighbourhood aesthetic. There's a lovely outdoor seating area on the wraparound porch where I love to bring friends to dine on some amazing Thai food and enjoy the breeze while looking out on the beautiful houses. I cannot recommend this place enough!!!
Very nice..good food..good service
A wonderful restaurant to sit down and relax, and the best part is you can bring your own bottle of wine to enjoy. I have gone here twice in the last three weeks, the Thai food is sport on since she is originally from the homeland. Would highly recommend.
We have been here to many times to count! We have also been to many Thai restaurants around the country and nobody can beat their Tom ka chicken soup, pork fried egg rolls, or their shumai ! I love everything about this place! Highly recommended...
Love the outdoor seating. Nice staff. Food was so delicious but the mangoes were out of season.
Fantastic selection, delicious food and great service. Even amidst the pandemic you will be treated with respect and receive wonderful accommodations whether you dine in or takeout
Great service, excellent food.
Amazing food and service. The mango sticky rice is to die for!
The food is always fantastic but the service is the absolute worst. I started only ordering take out here and an hour in advance at that because the service is ridiculous.
I waited 35 minutes for a tea and water. Boiling water wouldn't have taken that long.
Wonderful wrap around porch, good food and kind wait staff. Highly recommend!
I love the lunch specials! Sitting on their deck when the weather is nice provides plenty of good vibes. I have tasted the Pad See Ew, the Red Curry with seafood, and Thai Basil with seafood. If you get a lunch special with seafood it includes shrimp, octopus, and squid. I would get all of those dishes again! I will be back.
Food was decent. But the service was terrible.
Wonderful and friendly service, great prices and their food is not just delicious but is presented beautifully. I'd eat there again and often.
I’ve been to this place twice. The first time, I had the Thai Basil lunch special. It was delicious and somewhat spicy. Not too spicy, but enough to make you sweat and not want to put the fork down. The second time, I had the Thai Ginger lunch special. It was good and not spicy. Not as good as the Thai Basil dish that I had the first time. I look forward to trying another dish there. Overall, I had great experiences there. I look forward to dining there again. Keep up the good work!
First time here and I'll definitely be coming back. Great food and environment
Best pad Thai in the city!

Nice laid back
Great Food
I don't remember walking past this establishment, but it must have been good.
Food was delicious.
From the name you wouldn't even know it's a Thai place, but it is. Staff was very nice. Place was cute. Loved the amazing spring rolls! Id come back for that alone. My friend's dish looked like it didn't have any spice to it at first, but it was there! Very good. I was hoping my pad Thai was the same way, but it was not. Not spice at all. That needs some work, but definitely will be back again. I saw people ordering the Thai tea like crazy so I'll have to try that next time. Over all we super enjoyed it.
Great clean food and great service
Hidden, but worth finding. First time, but I will return. Highly recommend this little gem. Vegeterian/vegan friendly in small, friendly restaurant.
Really good food, great selection to choose from. Their luncheon specials extend through the weekend and breakfast is available until 3 pm for those of you who are just heading home after a long evening. More importantly, they had plenty of outdoor seating so that gorgeous days like today can be enjoyed to their fullest.
Tofu pad thai, thai tea and fried cheese cake. All great
Super friendly staff, excellent food, and great prices!
Yummy L1
Great service, and the food was delicious. We went for lunch and got the steak with broccoli and a spring roll. I would definitely recommend
Wonderful cafe with great tasting food and welcoming staff. Make it your next stop if you find yourself in uptown.
They have a great selection of food and the ones I've tried were so good! I would definitely come back here again.
Love the porch and eating outside. The food is always good too!
Love their burgers, but their chili cheese fries, are the ticket!!!!!
Authentic thai food. Tastes very good and the ambience is very nice
Old favorite of mine when I visit New Orleans, thanks to friend and classmate Grace for the tip! Fresh, tasty, well-presented with good service. Great variety of beautiful fresh vegetables in the veggie dishes! Lovely neighborhood restaurant - wish had more like these in my home area of Shreveport. Hope Chill Out Cafe keeps going strong!!
Great fresh food at great prices!
I ordered the seafood sweet and sour stir fry. Every single ingredient from the seafood to the vegetables is fresh and cooked to complete perfection. The texture and flavour of every individual part is perfect, and although you can taste the individual ingredients, it still has fully integrated flavour. Everything good about a professionally made meal with everything good about a home cooked one. Cheap and friendly service.
Friendly staff!
I loved the tom yum soup and papaya salad it was amazing
Great Thai Food. Cool neighbor spot!
Best pad thai in New Orleans!
Long wait, understaffed but our waitress was working very hard. Good thai food, but the steak in the steak and eggs was a bit small. Good prices and great coffee
They have the BEST fresh spring rolls in town!!
Awesome food and off the beaten path, totally worth the walk.
Good food nice atmosphere helpful service
Best thia food in town and priced well and great service
Absolutely awesome dining experience! Food is delicious and the staff are very nice!
Waitress has an attitude. Very rude. Spoke to us like we were peasants. Didn’t mind the wait all though we had to wait for more than 30 minutes for a table not including the wait to be seen or to get our food. I would give them no stars if it was an option. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Amazing spot, beautiful inside, friendly staff, affordable and delicious!
If your thing is waiting 50 minutes for an omelette then this place is for you!
Dull atmosphere but the thai amazing!
