Easygoing Thai joint offering a large menu of noodle dishes & curries in a bright, simple space.
Fantastic meal! The food was very good. Great portion size. It’s always great as leftovers! And the Spicy Chili Sauce is so good!
Just seems like they’re always closed. I don’t live nearby anymore but when I’m passing by I always try and stop to get takeout, but just seems like they’re always closed.
I understand holidays and what not, but there’s been so many times I’ve swung by within their listed hours and they’re closed, it’s a bit frustrating. It’s been like this since they’ve changed their name / owner.
Other than that food is great and service is good.
From a Pavilion (Sala) to Home (Bahn).
"It'll be at least a 45-minute wait" said the hostess at a nearby steakhouse from the Down Unda.
"Oh look, the dining room at the Thai restaurant is open now."
Knew nothing about Bahn Thai (Formerly Sala Thai), no expectation was set as it has been mostly misses than hit for Thai restaurant exploration.
It was cold that evening, two soups kicked off the experience.
Tom Jued Woon Sen Gai- clear, savory broth with clear mungbean noodle is certain to thaw your soul.
Tom Yam Gai- clear (sometimes reddish) savory and sour broth with a spicy kick and hint of lemongrass/citrus to surely set your senses run wild.
Pla Pad Khing- Gingerly overloaded with crispy fried fish bedding under assortment of veggies, covered with deep flavored sauce.
Gaeng Panang Nuea- Beefy Curry Creamy Tasty. No other curry dishes at other Thai restaurants so far is this flavorful. The correct cut of beef was used and sliced properly.
Bahn Thai (formerly Sala Thai) prepares the most AUTHENTIC Thai dishes in Greater Louisville, so far. The dishes are rich in flavor and character.
Superb service.
Though the ownership and the name have changed, the same family still runs the show.
Skip Pad Thai and Basil Chicken (and no doubt they're delicious here), but try different dish at every visit.
Highly Recommended.
Just had the sampler and it was amazing. I loved that they give you 3 different sauces, all amazing, especially the brown one for your chicken. I will be back soon to try more stuff. 2nd visit: Well I finally came back and tried the drunken noodles with beef and the cashew chicken, and let me tell you they were both absolutely amazing. I loved all the vegetables in the cashew chicken, and the sauce for both meals tasted fantastic. It looks like they are allowing dining in again, almost every table was taken.
BAHN Thai is amazing. Hands down the best in Louisville. Waay better than the other. Super fast & wonderful flavor!! Loved it
I order takeout here all the time, by far my favorite Thai spot in town. Always consistent and service is friendly.

Great Thai food! I haven't ordered anything here that I haven't liked
The garlic beef is very good, highly recommend this spot for authentic Thai cuisine.
I live over an hour from here with my dad and sister. I must say it's always worth the drive. The people are always greeting, and the food always knocks it out the park. I love this place and I recommend for everyone!
😁👌

Nestled in the heart of Fern Creek, this Thai restaurant has become a cherished spot for my family. Its proximity to our home makes it a convenient culinary escape, offering a taste of Thailand right in our backyard.
My wife, son, and I are aficionados of Asian cuisines, and this place has consistently impressed us with its authentic and diverse Thai offerings. We've embarked on a gastronomic adventure through their menu, from the rich and aromatic seafood soups to the perfectly balanced curries. Each dish is a testament to the chef’s expertise in blending traditional flavors with a touch of modern flair.
What strikes me most is the consistent quality of their food. Whether it’s the subtle spice of their soups or the robust depth of one of their curries, every meal has been a delightful experience. Their attention to detail, from the selection of fresh ingredients to the presentation of the dishes, elevates the dining experience.
This Thai restaurant is more than just a place to eat; it’s a journey through the flavors of Thailand, lovingly prepared and served with a warm smile. For anyone in Fern Creek or the surrounding areas, it’s a culinary destination that shouldn’t be missed. Highly recommended for a family dinner or a casual outing. It’s a five-star experience that keeps us coming back for more.
Incredible food. I recommend the chicken pad Thai or the garlic beef. The appetizer sampler they have is perfect for two and should not be missed.
This is a nice place for Thai food. They have a small dining area. They seem to do mostly carry out. I like their food so I try and visit regularly.
I love the vegetable thai with tofu. I always ask for medium heat. It is the best.
Best Thai curry I have had and always friendly.
I’ve ordered takeout here twice this past month and both times it has been amazing! The service is fast, the staff is extremely welcoming, and the food has been hot and delicious. This has become one of my favorites!
Pretty good satay. Will go again.
We Love this place in Glenmary! Sala Thai has wonderful Pad Thai, dumplings, satay, noodles, curry chicken rice, spring rolls, rangoon & egg rolls.
Amazing home cooked authentic food. Full of flavor. We travel an hour to eat here. Try the dumplings and mango rice!
I appreciate the accommodations the staff provided to be Gluten Free. Not that Thai food is difficult to make GF but I appreciated all the same. Having said that, I don’t think the number of people calling this food authentic Thai know what authentic is. This was the equivalent of a fast food Chinese takeout and not authentic.
Best ever chicken pad Thai, and excellent service!
Eat here often can't find better Thai food anywhere. Everything on the menu is great.
First time eating their food (I got carry-out), and I am now officially obsessed! Green curry was delicious and authentic. My little ones ate the fried rice and loved it. I also tried the vegetable steamed dumplings, and the chili soy sauce was amazing! There was a little left over so I tried it on the fried rice - I could eat that every day and twice on Sunday!! I just need to convince them to sell me a bottle of that stuff…
Our favorite Thai in Louisville (and we have been to them all).
Appetizers are all delicious; especially the chicken satay. Shrimp and lettuse rolls (served cold in rice paper with hoisin sauce) are not on menu, but are worth asking for.
The spicy shrimp soup is excellent.
My favorite entrees are the Jalapeno Beef, Drunken Noodle Beef, and Sweet and Sour Chicken, but the currys are also really good. My wife usually goes with chicken with vegetables, medium spice. Run by a nice family, they will make each order to the spice level requested. I am SO glad they finally re-opened their little dining room after the Covid lockdown. Modest atmosphere, always clean, the prices are very fair for food of this great quality.
Excelente food ,excelente service.
Amazing food and service
Had the Red Curry with Chicken and was really good. If you like Thai food it's worth checking out.
Best Thai food I’ve ever had and I try Thai food all over the country. I drive almost an hour for this food. The chef really knows good flavor and is consistent.
Their restaurant is ALWAYS clean, the food is amazing. I wish I had a photo to show. I usually get the drunkin noodle chicken. My husband and daughter usually get basil fried rice pork/chicken. Their chicken spring rolls are amazing.

Sala Thai is back open to dining in. Place looks great. Food here is terrific.
Excellent! Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles are our favorites!
Open for dine in as of January 8 2022
My first time trying the food. It was the best. The guy helped and explained everything to me. Helped me order. The was so much food. It was really good. Will be coming back.
Favorite Thai food in the city. Hands down
Just had the sampler and it was amazing. I loved that they give you 3 different sauces, all amazing, especially the brown one for your chicken. I like spice... but
I had curry here, and I cried... like uncontrollably. It wasn't even a cry because it hurt, I cried because it felt like that evil drop of hot sauce from spongebob just hit my tongue, and my eyes were just trying to hydrate my mouth. The human body is a beautiful thing.
That being said, the food was pretty tasty. I'd go here again. I'll never eat anything with a chili pepper icon near it again though... lol
Not the most authentic. Definitely mild in spice. However, flavor is good in it's own right. Want to enjoy Thai food despite being sensitive to spice? Worth a shop.
It was GREAT ! I guarantee I will return multiple times .
The service takes a long time just to acknowledge you are there. The flavor of the food is not good at all. I love thai food but for the first time in my life, I don't. The spring rolls where burn also. Never again will I be back.
Awesome Thai and great service. One of the best I’ve had
Customer service, 6 out of 5 stars. Food is 11 out of 10. If your in this area and pass this place up, your seriously missing out on a one of a kind experience. The food is fresh, hot, and delicious. Another restaurant that makes Louisvilles restaurant scene so uniquely remarkable. For refrence,
Try the Green Curry.
The food here always awesome. I've tried several items and all are good. We visit at least twice. Month. Recommend Drunken Noodles and chicken pad thi to get you started.
Absolutely amazing food. I've eaten here at least 50 times, maybe closer to 100. If you consider the quality and taste relative to the price you pay, I'd say this is easily the best restaurant value in Louisville.
My favorite dish is the Jalapeno Beef, with the Penang Beef Curry a close second. It is family run, and they are wonderful people.
Carry out only now! Good food and friendly staff. The fried rice was spot on!
My favorite Thai place in town. The staff is super friendly. They always make sure I'm 100% satisfied! Check them out!
We ordered Pad Thai it was so delicious and great flavor. Thank you! We will definitely come back again to eat 😋.
Best Thai food around! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. Have not had a bad thing from here! Highly recommend egg rolls, Mung bean noodle soup, Thai fried rice, drunken noodles... okay the list goes on...
My son and I ate there for lunch today. We had the Chicken Pad Thai and fried spring rolls. The food was fantastic and we can't wait to go back again. If you like Thai food or want to try it, Sala Thai is great. You won't be disappointed.
Delicious 😋
I have eaten at many Thai restaurants around the country and even around the world. Sala Thai is by far the best Thai food that I have had hands down, the owners are extremely pleasant and punctual when it comes to making your orders. I would whole heartedly recommend this Thai place to anybody who enjoys great food.
Delicious peanut 🥜 butter sauce !!! Recommend ❤️
Absolutely love this place. Friendly staff. Great authentic food. Highly recommend.
Get food all the time there with my friend. Their pad thai gai and Tom yum gai are fantastic.
Best Thai food in town.
My Dad loves this place!
Amazing pad thai
Always amazing !
My favorite thai restaurant hands down. The pork dumplings are unbelievable
Always delicious!
This is the BEST Thai in Louisville! Friendly service and the food is FABULOUS! They are well worth every penny! Call ahead to order and don’t get discouraged if it’s busy... I promise that you’ll be hooked!
Excellent Thai food that doesn't require a 30 minute drive (or longer) for those of us in the south end of the county. I always get chicken pad thai and vegetable spring rolls. If you want nose-running, tongue flaming spicy, you might have to do some begging though. They're only open for take-out and touchless handovers of food, and a sign advises they won't open for dine-in until 100% seating is allowed. Good idea, since it's a tiny space. When it was dine-in, I always got the Thai iced tea too. It's very good.
Just DELICIOUS! Large portions, fresh, and everything is good. We love the beef drunken noodles, red curry, and chicken pad thai.
Just eat here. Do yourself the favor. Get chicken/vegetable spring rolls without question. Penang curry beef with noodles instead of rice (this is a must) is excellent. Beef fried rice is top tier. Pad thai, pad kee mao, bean thread noodle all excellent. Ginger stir fry pork excellent (pick out the orange strips). Man I love this place and they always get the order correct.
I love this place! Fantastic food and service.
The food was wonderful. We got a number of dishes and everything was great - cashew chicken, red curry, tofu soup, spring rolls... Additionally we were visiting from out of town and they provided us utensils and napkins. While they didnt have any paper plates, they did provide us disposable tins. Really appreciated the extra thoughtfulness.
the best of the best
Great food. Me and my boyfriend get the pad Thai. Also they are following all procedures due to covid.
Awesome selection of vegetarian / vegan options.
Yummy
The absolute best Thai food I’ve ever had. So fresh and packed with flavor. I eat here 1-3 times a week on average, for almost two years now!
Food was okay, but of all the Thai places in Louisville, this one was my least favorite so far. Did takeout order and it was ready when I got there. Got pineapple curry and chicken fried rice.
The best Thai food ever. This is a small, wonderful, family run business. Everyone there is awesome and the food is absolutely incredible. The coconut soup and curries are particularly amazing.
Best spring rolls. Pad thai is so fresh and the pineapple chicken curry is fantastic!
What a hidden gem. Had the spring rolls, beef noodle soup, and chicken pineapple fried rice. So good. Heat was not bad. If you like it spicy ask em to step it up. Really good food. Will be on my go to stop in Fern Creek, Mt. Washington area. It's been awhile since have eaten here, and this family owned restaurant lived up to its reputation. The drinks.food. and service were excellent. The most expensive item of the menu was a modest 13.00. So if you are looking for something different for lunch or supper, then spend some quality time at this restaurant. You won't regret it.
The food and service is always great!!
Great food
Love the food. Amazing spring rolls.
Great food and service
Not a very fancy place kind of low-key but good service and the food is very very good
Delicious Pad Thai, unfortunately no much for costumer service
I really love this place. The food is great. Everything is fresh, beautifully prepared, and served up quickly. Prices are quite reasonable. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The Tom Kha Gai is simply amazing.
I've been to this place 3 times. The food tastes great, but they always forget my add-on items. The portion size is average, not much to save for later. Prices are fair. The older guy that takes orders could smile a bit more.
friendly staff and amazing food!
My favorite Thai restaurant!
Best Thai food!
Excellent curries loaded with veg. Would be my favorite if the heat level was higher.
Exquisite thai spice mixture! Very comfortable.
I was in the mood for noodles and they came thru. Terrific service.
Great tasting food and excellent customer service! Highly recommend the Yellow Curry Chicken!
Great place, amazing atmosphere, great Food
Wonderful service great Thai food
Not what I was expecting, good service, bland taste.
This is an Awesome place to eat.
I love the food and the service is great as well as the atmosphere!
My favorite thai place. Food is amazing
Stopped in for dinner as we have heard good things about this restaurant. I will say the food is absolutely fantastic. I had the drunken noodles and beef and my wife has the rice and chicken (without curry) and she absolutely loves it. It was her first Thai experience and has been begging me to take her back ever since.
The food was really good the attention was great really friendly and fast! And the restroom was clean!
Loved it, it was sooooo good♡
Great Thai food! Shared the yellow Curry and Pad Thai. The Curry was warm with sweetness of the coconut milk in perfect balance. The Pad Thai has the comfort food richness that is expected and textures were right on. Highly recommend this place!!!
This is my favorite Thai restaurant hands down. I just wish they were open 7 days a week because they're always closed when I crave them but this is definitely worth the wait and checking out. They've always been quick to get food out during the lunch rush which is nice.
Quaint, no-nonsense atmosphere, wonderful, attentive and friendly staff, and absolutely stunningly delicious food. An unexpected gem with authentic Thai food that will not disappoint.
Fast, friendly service. Our lunch was hot and fresh tasting. Tofu Pad Thai was delicious. I loved the amount of veggies in my portion. However, being a spicy food lover extra spicy was barely so. My husband got Thai spicy and was similarly disappointed. I suppose for some people who don't enjoy spicy it would be, but as someone who enjoys spicy food, thai is usually famous for it. Despite being underwhelmed by spice I would still highly recommend their food, as spicy or not it was delicious. Spring rolls were fresh, homemade tasting and delicious as well. Definitely didn't taste like it came out of the box.
Magnificent little gem. Food is delicious, service is friendly and quick. My favorite thai place. Worth the extra little drive it is for us.
By far the best Thai curry in Louisville!
The food there was pretty good. Had a quick dinner with three others.Everybody enjoyed their meal and it was quickly prepared. It is a fairly small place but the atmosphere is still inviting.
What set this place above many others was the quality of service. The older lady that was there was our server. My daughter says she's there every time she goes in. anyhow my son who can be challenging to get food for was not happy there was onions in most of the food. Well he was complaining under his breath but she caught on and heard it and said hey we can do no onions. Which made him a bit happier. After we received the meal it was not what he expected. He has high-functioning autism and sometimes if it's not his expectation it doesn't exactly work out for him.
well our server caught on to that somehow and noticed he was not necessarily enjoying his meal. So she brought him a small thing of fruit snacks. Not sure where she got them from or if they're on the menu. But it certainly brighten his evening as well as ours. It just shows that she was paying attention to us the whole time. Not a lot of places you can say that about.
Will be back
Love this place
We love Sala Thai! Delicious food and friendly people.
One of my favorite places to eat.
Delicious food but a little pricey.
Great food and service!
Great service and wonderful food
People here need to work on their attitudes, esp the main waitress. Don't just be nice to "men" specifically.
Great neighborhood place. Delicious food, friendly service.
I was looking for spicy authentic Thai food, and I think my search is over. It is my favorite restaurant and we keep coming here every time we crave for Thai.
Always wonferful
The Thai tea was phenomenal! We loved the pad thai and the drunken noodles. The service was excellent and all of the ladies working were very friendly. Happy to have found such a great restaurant so close to our house! We will definitely be back for more.
This place has ruined Chinese take out for me, forever....everything Is so darn good
Great food and service egg rolls to die for!!!!!
The food and service were both amazing. Definitely recommend for trying out Thai cusine. You will definitely have good experience. Njoy the food👍
Food is good but a little over priced. I used to frequent their old location and seemed to get more food in their portions. Portions are very small for the price.
Love there Pad Keemow Nuea " drunken noodle beef". Got it Thai Hot, excellent. Service is always quick and friendly
I only got take out so I can't write a very extensive review but... the lunch specials were well priced and you can do a salad or egg roll for a dollar extra. I ordered the pad Thai, beef fried rice, and pan noodles with veggies and tofu. The flavors are underwhelming and the dishes weren't really special. The food was fresh and hot and I wouldn't mind going back and trying again because of the cheap lunch specials. They also have daily lunch curries available which I would try in the future!
Taste was good...service getting worst..may be due to crowded... Changing my rating from 5 to 1
I rate based on service...now a days service is not satisfactory. I change my rating from 5 star to 1 star. It is expensive for this location.
no fuss, authentic Thai food. Mango with sticky rice dessert was the best. Portion sizes could be smaller for entrees.
What an amazing gem in Fern Creek, just north of Mt. Washington. Family owned, pretty sure the matriarch is back there working the wok. Really amazing food at a great value.
Delicious food, friendly people, great service. What more is there to say?
Very fresh
Very good
Food was ok,service was good
