We are a family owned Thai Restaurant. Lanna is a region of Thailand in the North which includes Chiang Mai, where our family is from. We are serving authentic Thai dishes full of flavors and aromas, such as Pad Thai, curries, chicken Satay, and Tom Yum soup, as well as desserts like mango sticky rice and a Thai favorite drink, Thai iced tea. Moreover, you can chose between chicken, beef, pork, tofu, vegetables and seafood along with keeping the spice level just the way you like it. Check out our menu for a complete list of delicious food! We are located in Lenexa Plaza at 77th and Quivira.
Our first time here and the food was excellent! The Crab Rangoon is the best I have ever had. The chicken fried rice was unique (hint of onion flavor) and fresh. The kids ate it without soy sauce, which they never do. I had the Cashew Chicken stir fry (hot) and it had good amount of spice and great flavor. My wife got the drunken noodles and shared with the kids after they destroyed the fried rice. Great food and would recommend. In and out in less than an hour.
Located in a plaza that hosts a variety of cuisine, Lanna is a cozy little spot that is welcoming and clean.
The service was a little hit and miss. Great on the start up but at the end when we were ready and waiting for the bill it took a while. That's really the only issue I had.
The meals we got were at medium heat and holy smokes did it deliver. Definitely medium but the heat built up through the meal. No complaints, just a heads up.
I ordered the yellow curry fried rice, combo. However, I only got chicken in the meal. My lady friend loved the yellow curry with tofu, and my buddy absolutely loved the stir fry.
Definitely recommend this spot! It's a do not miss.

Food was amazing. It was my first time here with my mom and it did not disappoint. Their food was hot and fresh and amazingly seasoned. If you want a bit more spice to your food, get medium. Otherwise stick with mild if you don’t. The service was very attentive and the atmosphere was great. We went in at 5PM and there was no wait and no people! Though a lot of carry-out orders. We got the green curry, gaprow fried rice, lanna sampler, and papaya salad!
Lanna is the best Thai food experience in KC. The atmosphere is intimate and tasteful. Warm decor and spot on jazzy music that is soothing while you eat. Huge thumbs up on service - April and Ole are two of the nicest people you could meet. Eager to get your order correct, share suggestions and they remember your likes/edits the next time you visit. Nobody does this anymore! They are incredible.
Food is excellent start to finish. Best crab Rangoon and spring rolls we've had. Light, flaky and cooled just right on the Rangoon. A must order. Entrees are flavored perfectly, portion sizes are substantial without being sloppy and the taste is consistently fantastic.
Do yourself a favor and support this restaurant! They are lovely people with outstanding food.
This is such a gem of a restaurant! Everything was fantastic - atmosphere, service, food! The restaurant is small, but elegant. Its obvious they want their patrons to have a pleasant experience.
I had the Basil Fried Fish (mild). The presentation was colorful and appetizing and the flavors were balanced, but not overwhelming.
The unexpected treat was the Mango Sticky Rice! We all were pleasantly surprised at how good it was - like sweet rice pudding with a side of mango.
I definitely recommend this restaurant!
Had a great lunch at Lanna Thai. The Chicken Gaprow was really good—plenty of flavor and a solid portion. The lunch special is a good deal, making it a great spot for a quick and satisfying meal. The staff was friendly and made the experience easy and enjoyable. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, which made for a nice break in the day. Definitely a place I’d come back to.
Service was outstanding, very clean inside! Lots of different curry and rice options. You can also pick how hot you want your food. The options are Mild, Medium, Hot and Thai Hot. As a lover of spicy things, please be careful with yourself if you can't handle the heat. The hot option is very spicy but for spicy lovers like myself you will understand how much fun it is to eat here. I will have to come back another day and try the Thai Hot which is the hottest level that they have.
I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken and it was fabulous! Each chunk of cashews and chicken along with the pineapple chunks made the spiciness an adventure. I also ordered Thai Iced Coffee. It was a little sweet for my tastes, I was more focused on my water because of the spiciness of my food, but it was still nice to sip on. Bonus points for my server, she asked if I wanted a to-go cup because I couldn't finish it.
My husband ordered the Chicken Peanut Salad and the first thing he said was that he never thought he would say a salad smelled so good. He devoured the whole thing in one sitting.
Definitely coming back! I love a good authentic Thai Restaurant!
Friendly, skilled and efficient.
Take out is just as good as eating in the restaurant. You don't miss out on any quality by ordering to-go.
I always leave them a huge tip just to show how much i appreciate them standing out from the other places
Quiet lunch spot. Yellow curry fried rice was on point!!!!!
Do yourself a favor. Don’t order through grubhub. Call up here directly and order. I’ve been waiting over an hour and a half.

We recently made reservations for a private corporate event. Our team enjoyed the atmosphere and both food and service were great! Thank you!
The food is so good. This place is a hidden gem. Huge fan of the Panang Curry and drunken noodles. Service is friendly and fast.

I don’t write reviews very often but having tried a bunch of Thai restaurants around town, Lanna Thai is so much better. We always get carry out so I can’t speak to the dining area but as far as the food, I don’t think you can do any better.
Seriously so good. Pretty and tasty food with very attentive staff. Highly recommend!

Super delicious😋
Food and service were amazing. Restaurant was extremely clean. Some of the best Thai food I have ever had.
Atmosphere is probably average (ok let's say "above" average--as background music is very nice), but the food is the BEST---my family collectively agreeds---between the local Thai restaurants. And the waiter is also remarkably nice. We love coming here. The fish choo chee curry and any of the other curries (i also get red curry beef a lot, and the fam likes yellow/massan curries with tofu), and the noodles are superb. 👌
Service was wonderful and prompt. Food was ready on time and hot. Unfortunately the food itself had a lot of issues.
The soup was well spiced, but the broth was very thin. The chicken was stringy and tough. The vegetables were mushy and had inedible pieces of unpeeled ginger. It feels like the soup had been boiling with the ingredients for a really long time.
The green curry had the same problem. It was thin like a soup and the ingredients were mushy and way overcooked.
The fried rice was also extremely mushy. Very unappetizing.
I suppose maybe it was an off day for the kitchen, but can't be for sure. It was our first time ordering from this place and probably our last. Pretty disappointing as the service was very good.
*****Customer service problem*****
I ordered the papaya salad for lunch, and the waiter asked if I wanted the Thai or Lao version. He explained that the Lao version has more fish sauce, but I didn’t fully understand him at the time. If I had, I definitely would have chosen the Thai version. Unfortunately, they brought me the Lao version, and when I asked to switch, they refused, saying I had been told the difference when I ordered. Despite my frustration, they still charged me for the Lao dish. This left me feeling quite disappointed with the service.

No question this is the best Thai food around. The vegetables are noticeably fresh and the food is great quality. This is now my go to spot.
Great food. I had the coconut soup. Yummy.
Thai well done. You get what you pay for. One thing I love is the big chunky veggies . Meaty bites full of flavor. I usually get the many curries but I've never had a bad dish of anything here.
Excellent! Some of the best crab Rangoon I've ever had and my chicken pad Thai was also excellent. The wait staff was very attentive, great service! The was my first visit, but it will not be my last!
This is the spot!
It was my first order from here. I had so high expectations from this restaurant but they really disappointed me by adding those foul smelling stinky vegetables in my pad sen me. And they were telling me that it wasn’t their fault. So I think this is my fault to order from them.
Always so fresh and flavorful! Kid friendly too 😊
We have only done takeout, it was really good, it's a little high priced for the amt of food you get, but I feel like a lot of Thai restaurants are that way, even though they're the same ingredients as Chinese food and two times more expensive. But we will definitely be back.
This place is criminally underrated. Go eat there immediately. I should be having a much harder time getting a table for lunch. We had a working lunch for four. The food came out faster than I could have imagined, the quality was over the top, and still somehow the prices were completely reasonable. You're not supposed to be able to find two in one restaurant, much less all three. Go out of your way to sample the food just as soon as you can.
a great little spot for lunch or dinner. the Thai sweet tea was great! I got the sweet and sour chicken with mild slice and it was the perfect combo of spicy and sweet for me as a weak American haha. I love their attention to a clean and inviting atmosphere and they play relaxing music. I think this place deserves more attention! great food. I hope to see them catch on more as I love coming here
Amazing Thai food and great for lunch.
Loved it!
Food bursting with flavor and prepared correctly!
Used to order here all the time, but stopped because a noticeable cut in portion sizes. I've been getting a lot less sauce with my orders, about 1/4th less. When I brought it to management's attention, they denied it. Last time I called I asked for my chicken on the side, which they normally do, they won't do it anymore. Fine by me, time to find a new thai place to eat.
This is one of my go to Thai places. Try the Massaman Curry.
Food looks good..tasted ok... i got the mint beef salad and it's pretty pricey for it not being an appetizers... it's an appetizer portion
Ordered red curry, green curry and vegetable stir fry. Curries were delicious but veggies not very flavorful at all. Could use some spicing up.
By far the best Thai food in the area
Wow, best pineapple fried rice I've ever had.
Since my wife and I found Lanna Thai last year, we will now always choose them. Firstly, because the quality of food is really good. But secondly, I have an egg allergy and their service is amazing as they always make sure to take extra care when making our order and specifically writing on the boxes. They do a fantastic job.
My new go-to spot for Pad See Eaw. So good!
Really good! Awesome Pad See Ew.
Absolutely love it here!
This place will soon be packed! The food was cooked quickly, delivered to the table steaming hot, and was well prepared. This was our first time and we all agreed it was great, it is at least as good as our favorite Thai restaurant, and after a few more visits may take first place. We ordered Pad Thai, Tom Yum fried rice, and Crab Rangoon. Delicious! The Tom yum had galangal and kaffir lime leaves and had such a unique and outstanding flavor. This will definitely be a go to for our family. We loved it!
First time, very good! Tasted very fresh and made to order for sure! We will be going back!
BEST egg rolls (and sauce) and Pad Thai!
The food is world especially the noodles.
I had the green curry and spring roles. The food was fresh, crisp, and flavorful. I would definitely go back.
Everything I've had from Lanna Thai has been spectacular. I'm particularly fond of Garpow when I eat Thai, and Lanna has the best in the city. Tiger Cry Beef (an appetizer) has a nice flavor even without the sauce. Pad Thai and the crispy street wings are also great options.
Everything always tastes fresh and delicious. Although I wish the atmosphere was a bit more homey, it's bright and sparkling clean, so I can't complain. Service is always great, too.
EDIT: Lanna has the best Tom Kha Gai soup I’ve ever had. Best!! Only thing I’d change is the inclusion of the inedible lemongrass shards. Yes, it’s an essential ingredient, but there are ways to cook with it WITHOUT leaving it in for the diner to have to pick out. Otherwise, it is absolute perfection when it comes to flavor.
A bit pricy for the portion size but very good.
This has become our GO TO Thai Restaurant in KC metro… we are pretty discerning and fell in love with this place.
This place doesn’t look like much, but the food is exceptional. Best Thai in KC area
The food was good. We placed our order and it came right away. It's the customer service that needs work. It's like the employee's are so serious they don't smile at you. We went for a company lunch and one of our peer ordered a medium heat dish not knowing it may be a little hotter than medium. We asked the waitress if we could swap it out and she just kept saying you want another order? Well yes we want another order. But one that will replace this one. She only tried a spoon of it. The waitress ended up charging two of the same dishes. I hope going forward Lanna Thai will do better with their customers. Keep in mind this was a very special person we brought to lunch and we chose this restaurant.
My wife and I have been here twice and it was great both times. We live over on the Missouri side and don't mind driving out to Lenexa for their great northern Thai cuisine, even though there are several other Thai restaurants closer to us. Lanna Thai's is the best we have had in Kansas City!
I really liked this place. Parking is easy without any hills or stairs to get to the door. We were greeted immediately and seated within moments of entering even though it was almost completely full. The dining area was clean and efficiently arranged. We were brought our drinks almost immediately despite the Saturday night crowd and our food came very soon after that. My wife ordered the spicy green beans and chicken stir fry and I had the chicken and garlic with broccoli. We both loved our food and the choice of spices to try on it. We finished with the cream brulee cheesecake. I don't know how they did it, but it was fantastic. I highly recommend trying this small venue if you get the chance.
The food here is sooo good! I don't know if I'd call it authentic, but it's one of the best Thai food I've had around here. The staff is always friendly and great. We go there often!
Friendly staff, calming music, and really delicious food. It was my first time having chicken Khai Soi, and I loved it!
I’ve tried 10-12 Thai restaurants since moving to Kansas and couldn’t find anything as flavorful as my favorite Thai restaurant back home. I gave Lanna Thai a try yesterday and couldn’t believe I finally found something this good again! Definitely my new favorite Thai place to go to in Kansas and not sure I will want to ever go anywhere else!
Great food! Loved the crispy duck. The atmosphere, music and cleanliness, ambiance. Are waiter Vee was also very helpful and gracious!
本格的なタイ料理が楽しめます。
If you haven’t, do so ASAP!!!!! The service good, the food….. SUPERB!!!!!! I am not normally a huge fan of Thai but, great music, good service, and the flavor explosion that was the tamarind beef i had as well as the noodle dish my wife ordered was nothing short of amazing. Also try the thai sausage and tiger cry beef. Best crab rangoon every. We have eaten so many places and tried so much, yet we are fortunate to have the best Thai place in hundreds if not thousands of miles. Lana Thai = perfection
AMAZING.
From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be great. The cleanliness and order of the restaurant as a whole was through the roof.
The service was outstanding. Very friendly and understanding towards new customers.
The food was just delectable. I myself got the pad thai and it was definitely the right choice.
I am so glad I came to Lanna Thai Restaurant. Please choose this place for its authentic, delicious, Thai cuisine. I loved it.
A new favorite! There is a large selection of meals to choose from, including many vegetarian options. I got the steamed veggie dumplings and pineapple fried rice, and honestly the dumplings might be one of the best things I've ever eaten. I could subsist entirely off of Lanna Thai's veggie dumplings and I would be perfectly content. The fried rice was great too; I got medium spice, which was the perfect amount of spicy for me, and it perfectly balanced out the sweetness of the pineapples and raisins. This was my first time ordering from here and I will definitely be adding it to my normal restaurant rotation whenever I order delivery or go out!
Good Thai food. We enjoyed lunch for two (2 dishes and one order of gyozas) and spent $47.
Great portions and tasty food. The place is a bit smaller than other restaurants but I enjoyed their food every time. Highly recommend either Lanna fried rice or pad thai
I took a take out today . I found few hair strands in the food. Felt nauseous. Very rude response by the hotel management. They made me travel 10 miles again . I will never go there again
A hidden gem for Thai in KC! Gaprow 🤤 Curry 🤤. I go here on a monthly basis. Service is always great. Another must try for Thai lovers.
The tom yum soup and panang curry tasted alright. The chicken peanut salad was good and the pad thai was just ok.
Everything is very clean. Service was great. Food is amazing. Not that I’m an expert but I travel quite extensively and this place may be my new favorite for Thai. Better than anything I have had in LA’s Thai town.
Best pad tai I’ve had in Kansas City area. Get the mild if you don’t like spicy because even the medium has quite a kick!
Food is nice. Overall, nice place to dine-in. The service is just very sub-par. Servers were very quick to get us out the door. But not once did she ask how our food was, or if we needed anything. I also ordered dumplings but did not receive them. There was no charge, so I assume she may not have heard that request? Still tipped fyi😉
Cozy, clean attentive servers and great food. Eat here often
Lanna's is my favorite. They have the freshest ingredients and everything tastes good. All the staff are wonderful and the food appears minutes after you order. I cannot praise this place enough!
For the love of God, by a dimmer switch! You need sunglasses when you walk in from a dark evening into this place. I asked and they have no ability to dim the lights.
I like lunch This restaurant beautiful place Lanna Thai Restaurant beautiful
Horribly slow, waste your time, online order 30 minutes late even though they aren’t even busy.
Excellent food!!
Very delicious food. The food came out quickly. And the staff was all very friendly. Lovely Thai spot.

This is a really good restaurant. On one hand, I kind of want to keep it a secret. On another, I want to make sure it stays in business.
It’s a smaller restaurant and we were greeted and seated immediately. It smells wonderful inside.
We ordered soft spring rolls. They were delicious. Thai iced tea is on point. I had the Tom yum fried rice - hot. My wife had the drunken noodles - medium. They were able to give me a good amount of spice without ruining the flavor of the dish. My wife’s noodles were probably the best drunken noodles I’ve had.
The service was excellent and the prices are very good. We will be back.
It was good. I had vegetables and rice. Had lots of flavor. Crab ragoon was crispy and delicious. Husband had Chicken Pad thai. He really liked it. I would recommend.
Great place for Thai food. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly. I really enjoy their Tom Yum, Pad Se Ew and their different stir fried offerings.
Phenomenal chicken pad thai
Tried a new place with my wife. It was delicious and the staff was great. Would highly recommend it, and we will definitely be back.
Tried a new place tonight. It had really good reviews. It did not disappoint. Food was amazing and staff was courteous. Will definitely be back.
I love Thai food, and Lanna Thai is the best Thai Restaurant I've had here in the KC area. Their Pad Thai and Panang Curry are my go to options and you've got to try the Tiger Cry beef. This is the only Thai place I ever recommend. I always order my food Thai Hot and Lanna Thai definitely delivers! 🔥🔥🔥
Food here is just amazing. Everything here is just soooo tasty & wonderful.
Our server was super nice, helpful, & efficient!
Really great Thai food. Small restaurant with minimal atmosphere but who cares! 😆 The food is really good! Worth a visit.
If you’re looking for great, authentic Thai food that won’t break your wallet, this is the place to go. Good atmosphere, fantastic service, and perfect flavors all come together to create an awesome Thai dining experience. I will be returning soon!
I'm a diehard Thai Place person, but this place gives them a run for their money. I ordered Rangoon, tiger cry beef and a side of egg fried rice to go. The staff was very nice and the restaurant smelled as clean as it looked. I ordered at the restaurant and it was ready in under 15 minutes. It was a very tasty meal. I will definitely be back.
Dumplings were good, the grapow was not my favorite. It was spicy (which is fine) but not in a normal, "Thai" way where the spice seems layered with the flavors. If that makes sense?
It was a good experience. Will definitely come back !
Amazing food and service! You should 100% dine in, the experience is much better.
Tonight was our first time coming here & needless to say, we will be back, often! The staff was all very friendly, the food was amazing, spice levels were great, and the restaurant is very clean and tidy. 10/10 recommend coming here! My husband & I have tried many different Thai places in the KC area & both agreed this is our new favorite! Thanks for the great food & service Lanna Thai!
AMAZING! I LOVE thai food. After reading other reviews tried my first serving of steamed pork dumplings. Finger licking good. The Pad See Ew was perfect. Got it togo, was well packaged, traveled well and hot. The mango cheesecake was Rich and bursting with flavour.
Amazing.
Well priced.
Fast.
Great service
10/10
Best Thai spot in KC
My wife and I ate at Lanna Thai Restaurant yesterday, August 14, 2022. We had a wonderful experience. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. The service was excellent. The food was fabulous. We had the Pad Thai noodles, my wife with shrimp and a mild level of spiciness, and myself with chicken with a medium level of spiciness. I like spicy food and am fairly tolerant of spicy food and the medium spiciness level was just about right. We shared mango sticky rice for desert which was a real treat. We will definitely be going back.
First time here and the pad thai was excellent. Staff was very nice and fast. Looking forward to coming here again
Small portion for 30 bucks looked like a kids meal?? The food was ok and the hostess was not very pleasant seemed put off by my menu questions.
Ordered takeout from here. The Pad Thai stands up to the other spots KC and we enjoyed the Crab Rangoon as well.
A cute space with great service and delicious food! The panang curry was life changing 😋
Incredible food! Everything from the appetizers to the drinks to the entrees. Best crab Rangoon and green chicken curry and Thai iced tea ive ever had.
Incredible neighborhood Thai joint. Inside is no-frills but the food is fantastic.
Gaprow stir fry is a must try, delicious! The dishes run on the sweet and mild side so I recommend choosing hot or Thai hot for your spice level.
Ate lunch with my parents here. Delicious pad Thai and cashew shrimp! I think it's my favorite pad Thai I've ever had. Restaurant was very accommodating to my 15 month old daughter. Will eat here again and again!
I've eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants. This place deserves 5 stars.
I love everything about this place , food . Everything is clean . And food taste delicious and Kao soi is really yummy
Best Thai food in KC. Very clean place and great service.
Horrible service and witnessed them touching and handeling my food with no gloves on in the kitchen
Noodle dishes were okay. It sat out too long when I picked it up. The noodles dried up. The tum yum was okay. The spring roll was a disappointment. It was my fault for not reading the ingredients on the menu, but it was just lettuce some carrots and bean sprout and one shrimp sliced in half for $10. Usually spring rolls has noodles in it but this one didn't. I rated a 3 because it was my first time eating here because my usual thai restaurant is closed Mondays. I couldn't eat the spring roll because it was torn up.
The place looks nice and clean, and the food is excellent.
My 1st experience with Thai food. It was delicious. I will be back.
Nice staff and good food
Delicious, prompt and accurate service, very clean with an upscale dining feel, and for the price you can't beat it! 5 stars all day long!
First trip here, I had the beef and rice noodles (pho). It was pretty good, seasoned with jalapeno. Service was excellent. Very clean. I will be back to try more.
The food was among the best. The drunken noodles was to die for. Tom yum noodle soup was delicious. Stir fried veggies were great. Papaya salad was good but not the best. We will be back.
We however felt rushed out as they seemed to have made up their mind to get people out at 9 pm on a Friday night.
Absolutely amazing, without a doubt the best Thai food I've found in the KC area, honestly maybe the best I've found anywhere hands down, this was my first visit so I'll have to try a few more options but I literally can't wait to come back for more. Very nice cozy dine in spot, with top notch service,, do yourself a favor and stop in here, you deserve it.
Excellent fried tofu and Cab Rangoon.
Excellent food - pad Thai and curry
This is incredible Thai cuisine at a great price and with equally great service. Their chicken pad thai is especially delightful.
Great food that is fresh and flavorful. Very clean restaurant and very friendly service.
This place rocks! The food was fresh and delicious.
It was quite delicious!!
Good prices, great service and food. Plan to return soon to try out some more items.
One of the best Thai restaurants we found in Kansas City area. They have very tasty food, not expensive, and the portions are perfect in size - not too small and not too big that you end up over eating or wasting. They also are good about accommodating vegetations/vegans, and the ambience is also nice, clean and quiet.
Incredible Thai food! Might be the new best in town. Loved how many fresh veggies they had in their dishes.
Yuuumm. We loved everything we ate here. Cute little restaurant with a great vibe. So close to our house so we will for sure be coming here regularly!
Clean, modern and delicious.
Great food, great service.
