great service and great flavors. we went here for lunch on our anniversary. they offer a daily menu, and we asked if any of the dishes were vegetarian. the waitress said they weren’t, but they were happy to provide an off-menu vegetarian option. it ended up being a tasty tofu stir fry. we now understand why one of our friends drives an hour just to eat here!
Pookies Thai is fantastic! They are a family restaurant, so it's a good idea to look on their Facebook page if they'll be open or not. But we really loved the curry and fried rice, and my 4 yr old devoured the stir fry!
The place is tiny and busy. It only seats maybe 25 people, the atmosphere is alright and welcoming but certainly bland. The food on the other hand is the best Asian cuisine I've had in the tri state area. The flavors are rich and unique. The cooks definitely feel authentic and knowledgeable. I highly recommend trying pookies and just ask for the cooks suggestion.
This was my first time there tonight. I got my meals to go. It was packed with so many people. I mean body to body and I think that says a lot! I am from a melting pot state which is Illinois. They have soooo many Thai restaurants there. But this place is a diamond in the rough. The Pad Thai (veggie) Reminds me of home. It is very delicious, sweet with plenty of flavor just made to perfection. The crab Rangoon's are light and flakey and fried with a beautiful Tan color. I also ordered the Beef Pad Sei Ew. Beef is so tender with a burst of garlic chips in the meal. I mean you will not be disappointed and that is why I gave them five stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Staff is always friendly and the food can't be beat. It is one of the best places in Burlington to eat.

Excellent Thai food
Everything was good
Very good food and service
The food is great here, if you haven't been, remedy that quickly!
This place is amazing never had a meal here I didn't love
Food was good. I like the fact that they have the ingredients on the table to add you own level of heat to your dish. Service was questionable. My wife question our server about the difference in tea, and ordered hot tea as did I. The server misunderstood ( the place was extremely noisy)and brought thai ice tea. When we explained the error.....server got very defensive and started lecturing my wife, who by this time, was getting very upset. I gave my wife my hot tea, and I took the thai ice tea just to calm the situation. From that point on, server never came back . However, the other server stepped up and took care of our needs.
The place was small, crowded, and noisy, but we were ok with all that, as long as the service and food was good. I would go again, but I would have to go alone because my wife refuses to step back through their door.
I rate it 7 out of 10. Service is key!
The food is TO DIE FOR wonderful!!!
Perfect place for a veg in Burlington! Was excited to try it, it may have been the only place in town for tofu
Really cozy place, good prices, serving sizes, the waiter was really friendly 👌🏻
Will visit again
Everything I've tried is amazing. Probably the best Hawaiian fried rice and crab rangoons I've ever had.
Delicious. I like the simple menu
Great food that i can be honest but had me on hold for 15 mins smh
Very good food. Pookie is so friendly if you want to chat.
Went as a party of 5 for a birthday dinner. Staff was very accommodating. Food was very good.
Love love love it
My wife and I walked in and sat down on 6:15 on a Saturday night. The waitress did not acknowledge our presence until 6:35. A table that walked in after us was helped before us. We left without food at 7:15. There was a total of 6 tables across 2 servers. Coming from 2 individuals with experience in customer service, we understand a short staff reasoning but this was unacceptable. We will not be coming back.
Well acquainted with Pookie's. Friendly restaurant with good steady service. And the food is wonderful, tasty; try all of it...
I started eating pookies pho back when they were at diggers rest, with growing popularity the quality of the food has gone down and so has the serving size. would like to see a little bit better atmosphere.
Was ok,
Wonderful Thai food! Small dining area.
This place is a gem. I thought my first visit might have just been an amazing fluke. I returned today with my 80yr old mother who has never had Thai. She was so impressed. This simple, quaint atmosphere is perfect for conversation. The service is outstanding. And the food is delicious.
We had the fresh brewed peach ice tea. Crab rangoons. (Crisp, thin and tasty).
I had the teriyaki chicken and mom had the eggplant and tofu stir fry. I hope this place is around for years to come.
Bring your friends and family when they come to visit. They won’t be disappointed.
New to Burlington, I swiftly needed to find the local Thai restaurant, as it is one of my favored cuisine. Since trying it once, my wife and I have made this our "once a week" outing, as the food is simply brilliant.
My favorite food of all time is Pho, which they "have". I used quotes, as it's not the style of Pho I am used to, as their is an obvious Thai take on it, but it's still really darn good, so it will be my normal order come winter!
What really shines, food wise, is the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle. They have a solid spice to them, but more important, especially with the Drunken Noodle, TONS of veggies! This place gives you the food your body needs, aka broccoli, mushroom, bean sprout, carrot, etc. Asian foods excel with Veg, and they do not skimp!
We have also tried their Rice Ball appetizer and it's wonderful.
At the time of this writing, I have tried a total of 9 items on their menu, with the goal of trying everything once. Their food is so good that I know I can trust basically anything they cook up!
Now for Service:
We have had the pleasure of being served by Morgan all but 1 time we have come here. She is kind and efficient, easy to talk to, makes great recommendations, and even makes an effort to remember bits and bobs about us due to our attendance frequency.
Pookies is quickly becoming our "Cheers", where we simply feel welcome to be there and know that we will enjoy our stay.
Thank you for being wonderful, as a staff, and making amazing food!
Pookie is the most loving chef, and she is a great member of our community. When she cooks for you it's like your own mother is serving you up some high quality Thai cuisine. You can't miss this place and say สวัสดีเพื่อนของฉัน (hello my friend) to Pookie for me.
What a wonderful find! Comfortable, clean place with kind people. Family owned. Food was delicious. I ordered my usual Green Curry, that I’ve ordered in so many Thai restaurants around the world. Pookies’ version came on a plate, but was so flavorful and delicious, I ate every bite. Loved the basil and delicious eggplant.
I called multiple times trying to order take out. No one answered the phone. Got to the restaurant and was told " we are short staffed and can not do carryout at this moment, you should have called it in." Rating will improve if I ever eat here
I just recently relocated to Burlington and I was asking my coworkers if there was great Thai food...they suggested "the mall" 😳😬🥴
I Googled it and found Pookies Thai and it was everything I was craving & more! Right in the heart of W. Burlingtons old downtown.....so much to do just walking around Pookies. Loved it!
This place is soo good! Wandered down here after the farmers market to try it out and I was soo impressed! I got the green curry and it was so good, sweet and spicy with really amazing flavors!
The Beef Pho is my favorite!
Love this place! My family and coworkers all love their food.
Authentic and unique, will be coming back
I've tried just about everything on the menu and have never been left wanting. Portions are always generous. Come hungry
The curry here is awesome. I haven't had anything else but the curry they have is definitely worth going for. I recommend, out of all the curries, to get the yellow curry
When they say it hot...they Mean it
Very good, but be careful if you ask for spicy! Thai has a different scale. Just a little spicy and you will be drinking lots of ice water. No alcohol served.
Fried rice combo not at all good.
Pick whatever sounds good that day, you will probably like it!
Yummy
Cute little place and the stored fried rice was great!
Delicious food and great staff!
Pookie’s was an amazing experience. The restaurant was very neat and warm, and the food was delicious. A must-stop in Burlington!
Always the best food in town! I can't get enough of their home-style Thai cooking.
Awesome food! Great tea. Not very expensive at all.
The food was incredible. The hospitality of the staff made trying new menu items fun. It's super cozy, and clean. We can't wait to come back. Try the Thai Sausage.
Great food & service
A clean, smaller dining establishment that was very welcoming when we arrived. The menu offered a selection of Thai items, including traditional crab rangoon, spring rolls, Pho, and curry dishes. Ended up with the fried rice, which was excellent and had a slightly sweet flavor (to me). No alcohol available here, but that's OK. Service was good, and prices were reasonable for the large amounts of food you get. Would recommend this place and plan on going back again.
Always great! One of our favorite places to eat in town
Yum! Awesome food!
Excellent food. Wait staff could be more attentive
Excellent food
Excellent Thai Curry and Crab Rangoon. Will become a regular stopping spot in Burlington.
Very flavorful food. Everything tasted great. The yellow curry was spicier than I expected it to be, but I had a nice cold thai tea to get me through it.
Great good, great service! Our new favorite in downtown Burlington!
Best Thai place in South East Iowa hands down!!!
Yum! Yellow curry rocked!
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. If you're in the area stop by and give it a try, you won't regret it.
Some of the best Pho I've ever had. Good portions and homestyle cooking. You can tell this establishment really cares about the whole experience.
It's our first Time there and we got The Rice Ball awesome, crab Rangoon awesome, Shanghai egg rolls awesome,Massaman chicken for me not spicy is excellent! Pad kai mao beef spicy excellent,Pad Thia chicken excellent and Sweet & sour chicken is excellent! We ordered 4 meals 4 ppl and we took home plenty of leftovers. 100% recommended. The owner came over to speak with us she was very nice and have a little chat with my Pilipina wife.
Food excellent.
This is the best Thai in the region for me, hands-down. The egg rolls are a must, and the pho has layers of flavor, but everything is delicious. You'll know you're in the right place from a block away, when you smell the lemongrass and frying onions. Pookie's is cute and cozy, with a relaxed atmosphere, the staff are friendly and the service is great. I can't stop in without getting an iced tea - they honestly have some of the best in the area.
I was hoping to try their green curry but they have a limited lunch menu. My vege stir fry was tasty but not super great. It's a simple place and the prices are excellent and I do recommend.
AMAZING food!! Very tasty and the wait wasn't very long
We had never been here before, and my wife was skeptical. After trying the food, she was won over big time. Everything we had was fantastic, and so fresh!!! We had a couple minor issues with our orders. 3 mama chicken stir-fries came out 2 chicken and 1 pork. I asked for tea and got water. We are definitely going back in the evening when they have their full menu. If you haven't heard of this before like us, you don't know what you are misding.
My favorite is the shrimp Fu soup and garlic shrimp fried rice. Yummy!
My Favorite Thai Restaurant In Burlington. Love The Pho Soup & Everything Else They Serve. Delicious!
Thank goodness for Thai food in Burlington
My husband and I visited for the first time today. We got the chicken pho, and we had decided to split it, and I asked how big the bowls were because we were going to share, and she brought an extra bowl with the order without me asking, and I appreciated that. They were super nice, and the food was amazing. The visit was worth every penny, and we'll definitely be back.
Great little restaurant!
This place is truly amazing. The food and service is incredible. Upon entering, everyone working is so kind and helpful. The food we ordered was so good, however the egg rolls may be the single greatest food I have ever consumed. Most egg rolls are the same, wherever you go. Not this place. The crust is made out of something from heaven. If you think you want to try them, double your order, you won't regret it.
I like Pookies, food is good, I like the building it's in, sever was very pleasant, will definitely go back
Delicious food great service. Flavors are amazing!!
Really good Thai food, and friendly service too!
Great little restaurant atmosphere with a friendly staff and owners. Always wanted to try Thai cuisine glad this is the place I finally did.
Pookie's is a small Thai eatery. A hole in the wall unicorn that has great service and friendly owners. What they lack in menu options they make up with extreme flavor. The plates look small but don't be deceived, it's more than enough to fill you up. Pookie's is definitely a place to stop by and try if you want a change of pace from the everyday eateries.
Authentic. Delicious.
Food is excellent, and the staff courteous and attentive!
Phenomenal food and great service!
Delicious. The Hawaii fried rice was so flavorful.
Good food, friendly staff.
One of my favorites. Has the best Asian cuisine in town. Pho is wonderful!
Great food, great location prices aren't bad. Been there several times with family!
It’s incredible - best Thai food we’ve ever had. Fast, friendly service too. Highly recommended.
Was Great, new favorite place!
Out of several items on the menu. Not as good as it was when they first opened
Very limited lunch menu people at next table must have had a better menu, much more food?????
Limited menu, but good quality
Amazing food wonderful people. Highly recommend to anyone.
Probably the most amazing Thai food I've ever had!! Highly recommend! Such friendly staff and service! Just what burlington needs
Great food must try
They accidentally switched the spice levels on our orders. I ended up eating my wife's meal and she ate mine. Still tasted ok.
Easily the best Thai food in southeast Iowa, if not the entire Midwest. The egg rolls are tied for the best I’ve ever eaten, along with some I had at a food market in Bangkok.
So what I’m saying is...Pookie’s is legit. Highly recommend.
I really love this place, food is awesome to go or in house and the people are always giving good customer service.10 out of 10, would recommend
Lunch menu is EXTREMELY limited and doesn’t even have pad Thai as an option. Got some bland mushy pineapple fried rice that had more bland meat in it. Waited forever as well. When I reported my displeasure to the waitress she had nothing to say and did nothing to help the situation. It was all bad. Just don’t open for lunch if you’re not able to staff your restaurant sufficiently.
Excellent food! We'll definitely be back for more!!
Good food, good service, and reasonably priced.
The food and service were excellent.
Great food! Hawaiian fried rice was extremely delicious.
Awesome service, atmosphere, and staff. The food is incredible and so many vegetarian options.
Best phoking pho I've ever had in my life. Raegan was an incredibly accommodating server as well. I will certainly be returning.
Good food, good people, good vibes.
Great meal great service. I had the chicken pad thai and would definitely get that again. For an appetizer I got the Thai beef jerky and it was also awesome. Small dinning area but the service was top notch.
Amazing every trip
Delightful
Place is not open when advertised. I never got to try the food. Was really excited to taste it. What a let down.
Absolutely amazing food! Wonderful staff and wonderful owners! The Pho is amazing!
Best curry I've ever had. Pho is great, and drunken noodles were also very good. Great experience. Thanks!
Excellent food ..

Had the beef and chicken pho soup after long day working with census bureau. Took chance since it of town and was delicious. Pookie is a sweet lady and took the time to make sure everything was good. Staff very friendly and sweet little tables, located in old beautiful part of town. You won't be disappointed was worth 2 hour drive here!
We love the friendly family atmosphere and the food is amazing! Our favorite restaurant in town. Very authentic thai food. If you don't know what to get the pho never disappoints
Food was great and waitress was polite and friendly as well as very informative on the menu. This was our first time going to Pookie's and we were very pleased with everything and plan to go again in the near future!
My nephew and I have been there 3 times and each time has been amazing. Each time we go we try something different and have not been disappointed. The portion sizes are perfect, the staff are incredibly friendly and the prices are very friendly for your wallet.
We've been there twice now, both times have been AMAZING! I highly recommend eating here! 🍤🍜
