First time there, food was great! Ordered the crispy chicken, hot. Actually had some heat to it unlike most places. Ordered the Thai sweet tea also, which was really good. Next time I plan to add the milk to it. The lunch menu is very reasonably but go early, they get busy by noon.
I work nearby and some days I have time to enjoy my lunch outside when the sun is shining. Some of my favorites are the yellow curry (mild) , the crispy chicken, pad Thai fried rice (mild ), the ginger soup that comes with lunch special is yummy too and the wontons. I’ve also tried the glass noodles they weren’t bad, very thin. Service is always good. The Food is ALWAYS GREAT.
We got the spicy basil with fried rice (up charge) and the drunken noodles, both medium spicy. The food was so good! The place was quite busy, the wait staff was doing a good job considering, but the spicy basil was brought out without any rice because the fried rice was still being made. The dish was incomplete without rice and too spicy to enjoy. So we ended up sharing one dish until the rice came (10 or more minutes later). Definitely would recommend but maybe be prepared for a longer wait.
Its such a gem of a place! Phaya Thai has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious, fresh, and came out quickly. The staff is friendly and seemed very local "ma & pa" type vibe. I enjoyed dinner so much, that I just had to have some dessert... I highly recommend the coffee flavored Thai ice cream! I can't wait to come back and try more items from their menu!
Food is absolutely delicious and customer service is superb. I'm a picky eater and I even find myself eating things I never would have tried just because of how wonderful everything taste and the flavors are just out of this world. Love Phaya Thai and the people that work there. You guys are giving top tier unique food with excellent customer service to match ! ~ signed a forever loyal customer :)
I remember when they opened and it’s STILL Phaya Thai!!!
Lots of flavor! Good food! The only thing is aren’t there supposed to be eggs in Pad Thai noodles?
Moved to the area from Chicago recently and so far it’s the best Thai experience I’ve had and I absolutely love Thai food
Would eat here again
I appreciate the variety of plant-based foods that can be had while dining with family and friends, or ordering online. Yum!
Excellent food. Got the crispy chicken while my fiancée got the garlic pork. Both were great

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. Sooooooooo goooood! The service is fantastic as well.
AMAZING!
Decent flavor. A bit less meat than I expected. Thai Hot is what I would call medium - but that is subjective.
Simplemente me encanta
Hands down the best Thai food in Indy.
The food: fried rice, drunken noodle, salad rolls with spicy sauce, every curry, crab rangoon, spring rolls, all amazing flavors that just dance happily in my mouth. The taste is authentic and addictive.
The owners are sincere and genuine good people, they make you feel welcome and seen.
My loyalty is here and yours will be too!
Lots of flavors and just great food
The lemongrass soup is delicious!!! The Thai rice bowl with chicken was delicious too, I am definitely returning again.
The place is a must. I have been there the last 2 days. The Basil Fried rice is the truth.
BEST PLACE FOR A LUNCH DATE IN INDY. The lunch is an absolutely amazing savings. The dinner is worth it as well. This is the best Thai place in Indiana. They have vegan options with tofu as a protein substitute if you want. Even though I am not vegan I get the tofu here almost every single time. They are the only place I know that even cooks tofu right in Indianapolis. I love the place and it's the best place to take a date. The atmosphere is light and uplifting. They are extremely clean in the kitchen as well as in every area you can go as a customer. The owners are extremely friendly and very helpful. I told everyone I know about this place. Everyone who has gone has absolutely loved it. There is nothing better then finding a place like this. The lunch comes with a soup and a drink. It's all delicious seriously. If you want spicy 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ask for your food to be Thai spicy... If you don't like spice say so and they will make it that way. Seriously my friend who thinks black pepper is spicy loves this food just as much as my friend who laughs when you say you can't eat ghost peppers. If you want something around the same price as burger king and tastes like fine dining then go here. If you want a place with a nice atmosphere then go here. You will love it, absolutely love it. If you don't I'm almost willing to pay for your food because there can't be more than 20 people in the world who wouldn't live this food. I'm not paid for this review because they would be able to pay me anything besides food from there.
I gave 3 stars due to my food falling out of the containers upon receiving from delivery driver. The sauce from my 3 meals was at the bottom of the bag which caused the cardboard containers to fall apart. Not sure why the food would be sent in cardboard.
Good spicy Thai food, nice staff. Had the pork Pud Ped, very tasty. Will be back soon!
Of the many Thai restaurants around Indianapolis, this one is the very best one. The best crab rangoons in Indianapolis can be found here. Eat them right away, because they are the large triangle variety and won't stay crispy for long! The ladies who run the place are absolute sweethearts. It's the perfect place for a date - the service is wonderful and the interior decorations are so cute and distinct.
I ordered my food just to wait over a half an hour just to get a order with onions when I said no onions and the chicken tasted funny. Then next thing I know I was sick with food poisoning!! I waited all that time for old food! Slow service with old food is ridiculous!
Oh my! The explosion of flavors was amazing. Heat (I ordered medium) was right on target. So often the heat masks the flavor. Not here. The flavors shine. Try the drunken noodles. You won't regret.
Ordered the crab fried rice and it was the best fried rice I’ve ever had. Took a while to make but only because it’s all freshly cooked to order
Everything was excellent.
I am addicted to the hot Pad Thai! ..place is cozy, clean and friendly
Great place to check out. Had a massamo curry. I think that's the correct spelling. I had that with the hot level added. Along with I think it shrimp bang roll thing. Def going back here.

April 2024: My husband and I have been coming to Phaya to eat since they opened many years ago. I remember the first thing I ever ordered was a papaya (OR WAS IT MANGO) salad. Since then we have our favorite table where we try to sit as often as possible. It is always wonderful to see the owners and their kiddos working the restaurant. The wait-staff is in the realm of award-winning. In all the years we have been coming here to eat the food was always so delicious and the service exceptional.
This place is the winner of my favorite, handsdown, place to eat in Lawrence, Indiana. Nothing on the menu is anything short of miraculously delicious. Bring a dart and throw it at the menu, it will be delicious, whatever it lands on. It will be brought to you by a truly caring and kind individual and it will be reasonably priced. The quality is something that all restaurants should strive for.
They have a new menu recently as well with tons of vegetarian options too. If you like noodles the pad se ewe is exceptional. if you want a light lunch get salad rolls ( that peanut pause is to die for) and a cup of lemongrass soup. My husband is just about addicted to the fried chicken curry and the sticky rice is such a lovely treat!
In my opinion, this is what a small family restaurant should strive to be. We are so so lucky that this place is in our neighborhood.

Original Review: Hands down amazing. Pad Se Ewe is the best thing I ever put in my face!
Phaya Thai is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant in Indy. Not only is their food exceptional, but the staff makes every dining experience one to remember. Could not recommend enough, you won’t be disappointed!
Over priced
They have the best pad thai ever! It's delicious, even when you bring the leftover home and reheat it! You get big portions and prices are good. Service is always friendly.
This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Indianapolis.
Best restaurant in general for all of Indianapolis.
The food is delicious, the employees are top notch, and pretty fast.
They have some of the best main dishes such as Pad Thai, Crispy Chicken, and not to forget the crab Rangoon is out of this world. (Real crab meat and the best homemade sweet and sour dipping sauce.)
I hope this helps someone searching for a new go to food experience.
The most authentic Thai place I've been too in the city. Love how they offer the pork curry!
This is one of my favorite Thai places. The food is very authentic, it’s really nice quality, the taste is always incredible, and the staff is very nice. I’ve had a few mixups here and there with the cook adding too much spice, but I’ve never had a bad experience. Even when the meal has been too spicy for my liking it’s always still tasted amazing. 10/10 recommend.
Food was incredible! Thank you for your hard work making such delicious goodness! Had my favorites Tom Yum, green curry, crab rice, and papaya salad. I must go back and get more!
The food is great! Staff is really friendly and fast.
Excellent food and service.
This place is the Trifecta of restaurants. I order the Shrimp Fried Rice and Pad Thai. There is such beautifully balanced flavor in each meal. They service is always friendly and fast. The atmosphere is cozy and vibrant with great photos of food for reference.
I bought the pepper steak and drunken noodles with pork med spicey. Noodles were pretty good and med spicey is pretty spicey. The pepper steak was good but I was disappointed that it was basically 20$ for a small container of rice, and an equally small container of pepper steak. I really felt like they gave me the wrong size lol. Id get the noodles again but There’s no justification for the pepper steak quantity
The food is delicious and well presented. The heat on each dish is exactly as you request. Spicy does mean hot here. Thai hot reminds you that you are alive and silliness has consequences. LOL
Menu is extensive.
It is a nice, cozy, and quiet, interior. Not overly bright or dark. The staff is warm and friendly.
Musical swings are right next door. Nice date spot.
We visit every couple weeks.
Great Thai stir-fry.
The chefs banged on the woks very loudly. I could barely hear my family's conversations. But the food was amazing, so don't let the noise stop you.
Best thai food I have found in indy! The staff are always very friendly and the food is always good. Love the pepper steak and my family also like the crispy chicken and fried chicken curry. I will recommend this place
Crab Rangoon and Tom yum gong soup is exceptional.
Great lunch specials. Nice people.
Some of the best Thai food we have had. Nice restaurant with great service.
Great food & customer satisfaction driven!!
We got the spicy basil with fried rice (up charge) and the drunken noodles, both medium spicy. The food was so good! This is the best Thai food in the Indianapolis area, hands down. I was pleasantly surprised. To top it off, their prices are reasonable, too. In the past month I've gone twice and I'm looking forward to many returns in the future.
5+ starts! So good food!
Excellent Thai food! Original and delicious food style. Excellent service in place! I've gone several times and I'll never stop going if I can!
Excelente comida tailandesa! Estilo de comida original y delicioso. Excelente servicio en en lugar! He ido varias veces y nunca dejaré de ir si puedo!
Stick with medium spice! 🔥 🥵 but good!
The Food is absolutely amazing and the environment is very upscale.
Very nice people; lovely good. Nice outdoor eating - loved the beautiful flowers they have growing outside
Very good Thai food. My husband had the spicy basil and really enjoyed it. Ginger chicken was great. The satay chicken was a great app. The rsgoons were good (I have a soft spot for a particular restaurants crab ragoons so they weren't the best I've ever had but I hold a biased opinion- these were delicious thou). Nice service and pretty quite space.
The best thai food around as far as I'm concerned!
Good for quick Thai food.
Edit: the food is still good but they are now slow as can be. They fill All to-go orders before dine in.....you wait about 30 minutes to get food
Major GO !
Great place for a quick lunch, the food is delicious and made to order. Service is fast
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the fact the dishes have not been "ketchuped". The food looked and tasted so authentic. The thai basil, cilantro, everything is fresh. There is a TV screen but rather than "junk" it was playing pictures of the street /neighbourhood the restaurant is named for. I enjoyed listening to the staff speaking in thai and the waitress could tell me the ingredients in sauces I particularly liked. An absolute ripper!
Always amazing
❤️ LOVE ❤️ SPICY PAD THAI
I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop here for lunch. I am glad I did. The food was great.
We tried three dishes and the flavor is excellent on all three. Now I see why someone told me this food is better than Chinese food. Excellent!
UPDATE: We keep coming back here because it is awesome every time! You can't go wrong ordering one of the curry dishes! Excellent taste and quality food! I would rather eat this than Chinese food any day!
The food was quite good, the pork belly bowl was good though a bit sweet. The prices are a bit high but the food was overall good quality. Also as a note they do not do their lunch specials on weekends just as a heads up.
I ate here 2 times during my stay in Indy with my friend. The restaurant is family run, and the food was fantastic.
Our servers were excellent too and the owners were gracious.
Highly Recommend!
This food is beyond good it's DELICIOUS
My wife and I love this place, very cute on the inside, great service and lots of great options. The even have a small bar.
I loved it here! The pad thai makes you want to sell your kidney, and the staff is super friendly and nice!! 11/10 would recommend
Was driving through the area and decided to stop here for takeout. Was pleasantly surprised by both the flavor and freshness.
Ordered Chicken wings, Pad Thai and of course Crab Rangoon. All three were very flavorful and tasted super fresh.
The Crab Rangoon was the best I've ever had and as shown in my picture was super packed.
I'm a huge Curry fan and they have some of the best I've ever had. Nice heat levels to choose from, definitely a top Indy Thai spot. 👌🏻
Great flavors. Try the spicy catfish. Tom Yum is also great. The lady running it is a sweet heart. Food just keeps getting better and better.
Love the Thai Tea, crab rangoon, and curry! So good
Best Thai food pad Thai was amazing.
Finding this location made me smile! Pad Thai is freakin' amazing. I mean it. I am not vegetarian, but LOVE tofu. So I got the tofu one. The crab rangoons too. Everyone greeted me with a friendly smile! I will be back to this location when I am back in the area for work. :)
I went with a group of 8 total. Our food took well over an hour to come out, and the orders were relatively simple dishes. Chicken + rice, drunken noodles.
Not to mention, there was a very nasty creepy crawly bug running around under our table. Won't say what kind, but mgmt, you know you have them. Deal with them, please.
Seriously, I had the best fried chicken curry ever in my life. Equally enjoyed a great atmosphere sitting outside one summer evening. I'll definitely be back despite being 3hrs away.
Delicious shrimp pad Thai! The portion was large enough to split. Service was efficient and friendly! The patio seating was great on a sunny day.
Amazing food
This food is unreal. The flavors are unmatched and taste so authentic in every dish. They give you just the right amount of heat in their medium level but do yourself a favor and don’t leave without ordering the crab fried rice, Thai rice soup with chicken and the papaya salad.
Got there I sit down and the server asked me to move to a different table, no one assigned me a siting area no host or anything but she just told me to move to a different and uncomfortable sitting area. I will never be back.
Y'ALL COME GET THIS FOOD, THIS IS THE GREATEST PAD THAI OF MY LIFE, NO LIES. IT'S VERY AFFORDABLE AND MONEY WELL SPENT AND THE WORKERS ARE EXCELLENT !! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ TYSM "PHAYA THAI Street Food" THIS IS THE SPOT.
Phaya Thai is always amazing
Absolutely delicious
Awesome food
Best restaurant in town! Good vibes! Come check out!!
My favorite place for Thai! Very friendly and accommodating staff and the food is always outstanding.
Food and service was excellent! The garlic pork and chicken pad Thai was delicious! One of the best Thai places in Indy.
This is my second time ordering from here within a week. I tried the pepper steak today. My portion was really small for $19. I thought they may have given me a lunch plate by mistake. But it was so delicious. I would have given it a 5 star.
i would eat here every single day for every single meal if i could :) great food great service lol
I love their drunken chicken.
This place is wonderful, foods legit and service was perfect! I’ll def be back next time I pass through Indy!
Having eaten here only once so far, I am looking forward to many more meals here based on my first experience and the feedback from a colleague who lived in Thailand!
The best!
Wasn’t impressed
Great food, particularly the spring rolls.
Good service.
The drunken noodles are amazing!! I got medium for level spice!!❤️
I love their food. I have major allergies yet I can eat here with no problems. Our favorites are pad thai, drunken noodle with pork and the pineapple fried rice. We keep thinking we'll order something different but these are so good we order this over and over.
I called in a pickup order. They said 20-30 minutes and took exactly about that. When I went in the place was very nice. Staff was extremely friendly. Easy ordering and pickup. Got home and food was very fresh and delicious. Great place and I will definitely return.
Great neighborhood joint.
Good, but can be pretty inconsistent. We get take out quite a bit. One in three times is pretty underwhelming. The timing for take out is all over the place as well. 30 minutes could mean 20 or it would be an hour.
Love this place. Food fresh and tasty. Friendly staff and excellent service.
I love their food!
This is my favorite restaurant on the far east side. It is behind CVS drug store on 56th my family has tasted almost everything on the menu and it's all very good. Expect to spend 13-15 dollars for an entree a nice portion. Excellent service as well.
I can’t say enough positive things about this restaurant. The food was fantastic. Clean, fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned. The staff was super friendly. The atmosphere is nice and is very clean. Will be returning again and again and again.
Crisy chicken is fantastic.
One of the best Thai spots in the city. I recommend them to everyone and have been eating here for years.
My only complaint is the inconsistencies in spice levels. You have an option of no spice to Thai hot. No spice and Thai hot are the only consistent levels. The three in between mild, medium, and hot are up to the cooks I guess.
Can be frustrating to order something hot and recieve no spice at all, like I ordered yesterday. Or order something Medium and too much spice, like ordered for a friend before.
But the flavors and deliciousness are there. Just know your spice levels may be left up to the cooks preference.
Attached is a pic of my most recent order. Two pineapple fried rices, Hot spice levels. The one on the left had no spice at all. The one on the right had plenty of spice.
Awesome... Listen I Love This Restaurant..You Can NEVER Go Wrong Ordering the Curry 😋..
