Excellent Thai food place. We were looking for an Asian food restaurant in and around Vernon hills. Most that came up seemed ok. But this one in Libertyville seemed like a good one from reviews and ratings. Also the place is a house converted to a restaurant in Libertyville downtown.
The service was excellent and the server was really helpful giving us details on the spice levels as well as good options for broth. The food was very fresh and tasted excellent. We liked the wanton soup as well as the satays for starters. The main course was also excellent basil fried rice and drunken noodles. Overall it was very good food. We would surely go there again.

Had this twice. Nothing special for Thai food. If you are at Condell and craving Thai, it might hit spot but it will disappoint you. First time I got green curry and it was meh. Next time I did Pad Se Ew. It was also meh. Thai tea is all ice. Boba is too sweet. Feel like you’re drinking sugar. And they also for the order wrong and forgot to add a dish when we called to place order.

All in all, find another go to Thai food place in Libertyville - this one is a disappointment even if it gets the job done.

Diner Review №7

I judge a Thai place by their Pad See Ew and this place does not disappoint. The portions are pretty generous too!

Diner Review №8

Cute little hidden germ for some delicious authentic Thai food. They have parking on the rear side of the building as well.

Diner Review №9

I decided to give this spot a try and was very pleased with the food. The flavors and the portions are great. Something that caught my eye was the constant number of carry out orders that kept coming in and out throughout my visit, which tells me it is a local favorite. Will definitely be back!

Diner Review №10

Fantastic Thai cuisine. Can choose your spice level (based on easy to understand comparisons).
Service was great, courteous, and quick.
Free Parking behind the restaurant, but it is small and tight. Drive way from RT 21 is narrow.

Diner Review №11

Thai Noodles Cafe has authentic food with a great staff. It’s our go-to Thai food in the suburbs.

Diner Review №12

This place is my favorite Thai restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with the amazing aroma of jasmine rice.

Last time I visited, I didn't order takeaway ahead of time, but I was happy to wait the 10ish minutes for my order. The server/host their offered me some hot tea while I waited. It was such a pleasant experience not to mention the food was wonderful as always!

Diner Review №13

Sadly, very disappointed. I have frequented this establishment many times, as I am a local. My Doordash order arrived missing a key part of the meal "Rice". I contacted the restaurant, and they agreed 100% that the error was on their part. I appreciate the honesty, however they have absolutely zero ability to fix "Their error", and I was told to contact Doordash for a credit, and reorder the rice. All the while the food's getting colder. I live 10 minutes from this place, and someone could have just run the rice over. Instead I, who am not at fault here, am inconvenienced a second time by having to file for a credit with Doordash (who also was in no way at fault here). My beef here isn't about a $4 box of rice, but rather at Thai Noodles Cafe's lack of customer service to make the situation right. Doordash takes the order, and processes the payment, but ultimately it was Thai Noodles Cafe error. Credits aren't very filling. Oh well there's always Green Basil in Vernon Hills for Thai

When I was looking around for an early dinner stop, I liked the idea of the first floor of an old house turned into a restaurant. Sounded kind of cozy. Unfortunately, its like every other takeout place nowadays. Out of place music on the speakers, a young man (family member I assume) slouched at a table with his headphones on, loudly foot tapping away to whatever he's lost in his phone with.

The food is fine, but its really no different than any other Thai takeout place I've tried around here.

Amazing

Diner Review №21

This restaurant is in what looks like a former house, so is a cute environment. The staff are friendly, and the food tastes good. I highly recommend the Massaman Curry. The mango boba tea is also delicious.

Diner Review №22

Hands down my favorite thai food in the area. Highly recommend.

Diner Review №23

Small and quiet little place with awesome food! You can choose how spicy you want your food too, so there's something for everyone in your group.
I'll absolutely return. 😃😃

Diner Review №25

We ate there before and didn't care for the food. Good friends of ours eat there and enjoy so we thought we caught them on a bad night, ordered the wrong thing, there were good reviews, so we went back. This time, it was even worse. Admittedly we did take out but live 12 minutes away. The pot stickers were pretty good but our main dishes were gloppy. It tasted old, tired, and soggy. I love supporting small businesses but this one is on it's own as far as we're concerned. The parking lot is a bit treacherous as well.

Diner Review №26

Addicting. Best Thai I've ever had, and the family that owns/runs the place are great people.
Edit/Update: 10 Years later and my 5-star review still stands. The niece of the owner has taken over, and she has kept everything excellent.

Diner Review №27

Diner Review №28

I just wish they made the food spicier

Diner Review №29

Good food, polite staff. Tried fried rice with chicken.

Diner Review №30

I ordered a Pad Thai with beef, and the beef smelled and tasted off. When I called the manager to share my negative experience and request a refund, he refused and insisted I bring the food back to the restaurant to get a refund. This was highly inconvenient and disappointing. I am very dissatisfied with the service and will not be ordering from here again.

Diner Review №31

Big menu, many changeable options and good prices. Got carry out Pad Thai, the container felt like 2 lbs of food and there was plenty of leftovers. Parking is down a narrow driveway in the back. Will go back again 😊

Diner Review №34

I went there on Saturday with my friend and the food was terrible; worst Thai food we ever had. Way overpriced for poor quality and my shrimp curry barely had shrimp in it. The service was fine and the atmosphere was as well...but the food could use some improvement especially if they charge as much as they do.

Enjoyed the panang curry with tofu. The flavor was deep with tiny peanut bits. The Tom kha was flavorful, and so was the Khao soy. The people were cordial and attentive. And the prices were reasonable.

1/5/24
Funny enjoyed the deep flavor of the ground chicken special over rice.

6/14/24
Got the shrimp curry with pineapple. That was great. Got the Tom Kha soup, which was excellent. The flavor had delightful paths to explore.

Delicious Thai food for over 20 years!

Diner Review №44

Best Thai restaurant. We love the Wonton soup, Potstickers and Crab Rangoon. Great service.

Diner Review №45

Best Thai restaurant in town. Our go-to dishes are lard nar, green curry, shrimp spring rolls, crab rangoon, pad Thai, shrimps in a blanket, we usually pickup to go. If the parking lot is full, there's a decent chance the restaurant might be full. If they have mango with sticky rice, get it. They've been here for decades. Decor is from the 80s and not a large seating space.

Diner Review №46

Diner Review №47

Green curry was terrible, rice was old and it was just not good. Having lived overseas and traveled the US- I have never had peas in my curry! When I say terrible I mean Terrible! Also when we told the owner/ manager she made excuses and didn’t offer to give discount. We did not finish or complete our meal. Bad management! Customer should leave feeling you heard them. Offering more food is Not a good idea seeing we think your Thai food is terrible!

Sadly- would not recommend.
Way over priced !

Diner Review №48

If you want Thai food - run! Terrible tasting and high priced. I should have gone and had tacos. We didnt even finish our meal.

Always a fan of Thai food 👌🏼 Garlic chicken is my favorite but sometimes I go with the Pad Thai

My girl friend and me so disappointed. We was so so hungry that she ordered three meals We so disappointed all of them after taste. Taste and service not good.

Diner Review №58

I ordered online and had it delivered. That part went well. The food was dry chicken was over cooked. no sauce and all the raw cabbage was even more dry. I was disappointed. Pad thai is usually my fav.
I've had better Thai ice tea.

Diner Review №59

Fantastic little spot. Pad Thai was delicious but the pineapple fried rice was out of this world!

A hidden gem

Diner Review №62

Diner Review №63

First visit to this gem. Wanted something a bit different from pizza, burgers, beefs. Browsed their menu, saw one of my favorites - the basil chicken, and knew that was what I needed. Ordered it spice level 2 (of 3?). Also ordered the drunken noodles (combo meats) - spice level 1. Both dishes were fabulous - this place will be my go to in the area, no doubt. Ordered through the web, but order was ready on time, and staff was very friendly. Total cost was $35 w/tax.

Diner Review №70

Lots to pick from on the menu for every taste. The best Thai dishes around. The dining area is small, but worth it.

Diner Review №71

Food used to be excellent! Visited again a couple of weeks ago and food was not good. Both dinners we ordered were bland and flavorless. Salt and soy sauce didn't even help.

Diner Review №80

Two years ago I stated, “Speedy service, amazing food, kind staff. Quality is consistent every visit. Orders are quick to be completed. Parking in rear!! Support local!!” I still stand by my statement.

Diner Review №81

The food was legitimately good!! The appetizers were homemade, the fried rice had actual flavor - but the green curry with chicken was outstanding. It’s rare when we declare our intention to return to a restaurant while sitting there, but we’ll be back. Highly recommended when you need tasty Thai food.

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №83

The Cafe is small but clean and the food is amazing .

Diner Review №84

Thai noodle is the best! Very consistently excellent food and friendly staff.

Diner Review №85

Chicken in Pad Thai dry and flavorless. Noodles were good.

Diner Review №86

Very poor customer service experience. Incorrect order delivered and the staff would not refund the cost for either food or delivery. Had to drive to the restaurant to try and correct the order only to find the same food re-boxed that I was trying to return. Wasted fuel, over thirty dollars in cost, time, and discarded the order entirely. Unfortunately will not be ordering from this restaurant in the future.

Diner Review №87

Diner Review №103

I was so disappointed. This was my go to place for many years. Had a very difficult time communicating with the waitress. Pot stickers greasy, sauce had way more vinegar than in the past. Main dish was just soso. Chicken rubbery. They may just have been having an off day. May try again, maybe.

Diner Review №104

For over 20 years, we have been visiting the Thai Noodle Cafe in Libertyville. Tucked away in a charming two-story house off the bustling Milwaukee Ave, this restaurant holds a special place in our hearts.

The first thing you notice upon entering is the warm and inviting atmosphere. With the dining room situated on the first floor of the little house, it exudes a cozy, homey feel. It's a delightful escape from the outside world, transporting you to a place of comfort and relaxation.

Throughout the years, our favorite dishes have remained consistent. The chicken satay is always a must-order for us, with its perfectly grilled skewers of tender chicken and rich peanut sauce. The Tom Yum soup is another staple that never disappoints, with its aromatic and spicy broth packed with flavorful herbs and fried tofu.

When it comes to main courses, our favorites are the Thai curry and spicy basil chicken. The Thai curry is a delightful medley of flavors, with its creamy and fragrant sauce complemented by tender meat and fresh vegetables. The basil chicken, on the other hand, is a savory and aromatic dish that always hits the spot.

Despite not visiting for a few years, our recent visit to Thai Noodle Cafe was a comforting reminder of why we love this place. Everything tasted just as familiar and delicious as we remembered, and we truly appreciated the consistent quality and taste. It's evident that this is a clean, well-maintained, and family-owned restaurant that takes pride in serving their customers with care.

Generous serving. Taste has improved much compared to pre-pandemic. Fast service

Diner Review №107

Diner Review №108

Had dinner there with my daughter last night. The WORST Thai food I’ve ever had. The basil & shrimp spring rolls had no basil. The curry Panang was peanut sauce with a few pieces of chicken in it and no veggies (or curry). The tom yum noodle soup had some noodles and a few pieces of chicken and again, no veggies. I love Thai food and was hopeful that this would be my new go to place since moving to the area, but definitely not. Expensive and very disappointing.

Diner Review №109

I didn’t want to rate this place as high as I did. But I didn’t want to rate it lower than a 4.7. This place is a hidden gem. The rice is unbelievable soft and hard all in the same bite. The buns and skewers I had were cooked with love. I didn’t get to try everything on their menu but I definitely will be back to do so. The workers there are kind and extremely helpful. If you’re looking to try new things. This is definitely a great first stop.

Diner Review №142

The food here is so great! Much of it can be vegan with tofu because they said they don’t use fish sauce. They’re always very kind and help confirm what I can order with my dietary restrictions. I typically get the spicy basil fried rice and it’s always so flavorful.

Coming back to this cafe. Ordered the chicken satay, the green curry, pad Thai, beef fried rice, miso soup and a couple of boba teas.

I'm glad to see that they have remained consistent from when I was last here in 2017.
The pad Thai has a unique taste that I have not tasted in any other thai place, (must be a family recipe), the beef fried rice is ok so it's the satay, get the green curry... It is good.

Come here when you are really hungry. It's a cafe. This is still the best Thai place in this place. I can't wait for the casino to get finished.

Diner Review №151

Great service. Reasonable portion sizes. Thank you!

What was ordered: NS1 Noodle Tum Yum Soup $11.99; #43 Ginger Chicken $12.99; #44 Combo Veggies & Pineapples $14.99

Diner Review №152

Have been sick with covid, and their food was “JUST” the thing I needed! The food was well priced, filling(still have leftovers), delicious, and the delivery was very quick! I loved how their chicken noodle soup was not overdone with spices, and reminded me of my mother’s soup in a Thai version :)! I definitely will be ordering again soon! Also you have “GOT” to try their; spring rolls, Pad Thai, Thai Coffee, and sweet buns! They are also very tasty ;)!

Diner Review №153

This place never disappoints! Best Thai food in the Libertyville area.

Diner Review №154

Always great food.

Diner Review №155

It was okay. The meat seemed like it was cooked and seasoned separately from the dishes and just thrown in.

Diner Review №156

We r not Thai food lover. But the people are nice and food is fresh..

Diner Review №157

Amazing restaurant with awesome customer service :)
The yellow curry with tofu is the best! I’m obsessed with it - I have ordered it several times now and it’s always soooo good!! Can not recommend enough!

Diner Review №158

The food quality has gone down hill. I used to come here all the time when I lived up in the area. The prices were reasonable and the food was great. I ordered the Tom Kar soup and it was literally all coconut juice, chicken, and basic mushrooms. They don't use lemon grass and those roots anymore. 12 bucks for a quart of that? massive rip off. The prices have gone up as well, but hey, that's inflation. Pad woon sen, pad thai, and tom kar soup $40. No thanks.

Our favorite Thai take-out place. We only recently discovered this place after living in Libertyville for 10 years. My only regret is not finding out about this place earlier so we could have enjoyed more over the years. We like to get the Pad Thai and love that you can select your spiciness level. I'm also a fan of the egg rolls, but our house is divided since they are a bit unique. The dipping sauce is homemade and tastes great!

Diner Review №175

Diner Review №177

Trying to go through the entire menu. So far; panang is a big hit, pad thai as well, fried tofu is great too. Stay away from the crab rangoons, not that great for how much they cost. Overall, food is authentic and will be coming back and referring family and friends here.

Diner Review №178

The Pad Thai here is very bland in taste. It was pink in color. Never had pink noodles. The chicken was also cut badly. The crab Rangoon barely had any filling in it. Staff was nice however, so 3 Stars. But to be honest, it's 2.5/5. The food didn't have the flavor that I have come to expect from Thai restaurants.

Diner Review №179

Diner Review №180

Fantastic Pad Thai. Very friendly service staff.

Diner Review №181

This is the closest thing to authentic Thai cuisine. Though the restaurant is modest, their service is efficient, their menu items were fresh and very flavorful. I had the beef salad and the steak was cooked to perfection. I never had a bad meal at this restaurant.

Diner Review №182

Great as always. Had wonton soup and Tom yum soup, both were excellent.

Diner Review №183

Best curry I’ve had in Chicagoland in 4 years.

Diner Review №184

Good authenticate Thai food. Reasonable price for very delicious food.

Diner Review №185

Really disappointed, second time ordering they
seem to be really cutting corners on there portion sizes. Crab Rangoon light on the filling. Mostly wrapper with a dash of filling. Same goes for the Pad Thai. All noodle with barely anything else.

First time ordering the food was great, a little light on the protein especially since they up charge.

Order a second time added each meat to the order. They definitely did not add the extra meat.

Just really disappointed ratio of food is off.

Hopefully they figure it out.

Diner Review №186

The staff was very nice and accommodating and the place is nice as well. We ordered several dishes. The beef noodle soup (pho) took extreme extra flavoring to get it to not taste like plain warm water. The curry was okay. The rest of the food was very bland.

Diner Review №187

They were really attentive and the food came out quick. Very delicious!

Diner Review №188

Not a fancy restaurant, but just the thing for a relaxed and affordable dinner. I grew up in SE Asia and visited Thailand regularly; the food and decor here really transported me back. Friendly staff. The space is quite small, but quaint.
Note this is a review after one visit, so I'm not sure about consistency of the service. My visit was great, however.

Diner Review №189

Great taste and affordable prices. I have order at least 5 times from here in last 4months. Never disappointed by the food.

Diner Review №190

Diner Review №192

I have been coming here for years! Their food is always made fresh and served to fill your belly. They are a local favorite and I can see why! Gavin and Alyssa are amazing owners. You can tell they put pride and passion into what they established

Diner Review №193

This was good Thai food. Nothing fancy. If you like it spicy definitely go for the highest number.

Diner Review №194

We used to go there in the late nineties, early 2000's, weekly! Mrs. Lee was a wonderful hostess and doted on our daughters. She even brought them presents from Thailand when she visited. We moved back to Texas and have missed Thai Noodles ever since. Spicy Beef Crazy Noodles was my go to. Can taste it right now. Love you Mrs. Lee and Thai Noodles, miss you all the time! Hope you and the staff are well!

Diner Review №195

Family-owned restaurant. Friendly service, clean bathroom and very reasonable price. Better to do family style because all the dishes we ordered had large portions. The Pad Thai is on the sweet side but I loved it. My husband liked the Tom Yum noodle soup. We tried the shrimp spring rolls, fish cakes and shrimps in the blankets. All delicious, especially with the sauces that come with each dish. We would definitely love to come back!

Diner Review №196

Oh my god, the food is very delicious here. I've tried many items on their menu and they are all above expectations. Very authentic Thai cuisine and a very rare find in the area. 5/5 stars!
