I do not have a single bad word to say about this restaurant. I found them by chance on doordash and have ordered from them to the hospital I work at every single week for over a month now. The food comes piping hot and fresh every time. It is so delicious and helps me get through a long nursing shift in the ICU. I've never left a review before but this place absolutely deserves it. So impressive. I get the ground basil chicken and a different appetizer every time I order. So much flavor packed into everything they prepare.

Everything we ate was spectacular! You must try the shrimp in a blanket. The pho, ramen, Chinese fried rice, egg rolls, pot stickers, and teriyaki chicken were also pretty amazing. This place is small and there was only person working, but were very well attended.

Still the best Pa-nang currie in the area! If you've never tried it you must, your brain won't know what to do with this much flavor! 😅🤣

I was very disappointed with the quality of food, especially based on the reviews. I ordered the octopus and it was greasy, hard and oddly gooey in some parts. The taste made me sick to my stomach and I'm an octopus fan. I probably should have known better to order it from an establishment that may not have fresh seafood. The spring rolls were greasy in the inside and didn't taste fresh. The orange chicken was decent, but due to the other items, I couldn't eat anymore. Possibly it was the day, or a one of situation, but it's very disappointing when the quality of food makes you queasy.

They got rid of the literal best thing on their menu, the corn croquette. Paired with no dine in and it’s not even worth going anymore. Shame cause I was craving those croquettes.

Delicious… their pad Thai, massaman curry & pad see ew are our go to… I enjoy the fresh rolls a lot as well, and we get some basil fried rice to share

We regularly pick up from here and they never disappoint. Menu has plenty of choices, food is consistently good, and prices aren't too bad.

The teriyaki chicken is amazing 👌🏻

Went there today even after reading the reading the reviews, thought i would give take out a try. When I got home and opened the bag, I was shocked to see a very small entre of Rama, they left out the rice (on the receipt is says no rice) WRONG, was supposed to leave out carrots and the peanut stuff, which they did. the. cucumber salad, well, let's just leave as cucumber only, no salad, the fried meat (beef) grossly over cooked and dry, I thru that away as it was inedible, The only part that was good were the broccoli and fresh Thai rolls. For that SAD and SORRY dinner cost me $ 24 bucks, was not worth even 5. Eat in the portions are bigger, DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT.

Clean establishment, an authentic dining experience, great service and amazing food selection. Their Pho Bo and pad Thai satisfy my craving in so many ways as if they were home-made! Which is rare. Their Ramen is great as well.

Food Is good. Not overfilling. Great flavor. I just hate that they close so early. Like most of us work. Plus no matter what time u check them out on door dash uber eats etc....it says they are closed.

I love Thai food and I ordered lunch there today I was very disappointed the flavor was not there it was not good at all!!. It wasn't cheap and the quality definitely wasn't there I will not eat there again it just did not taste right. It didn't taste like Thai food the noodles was stuck not good at all. We travel for business on average of once a month and we depend on reviews a lot!! So I have been trying to leave reviews. We ordered red and yellow curry chicken and spring rolls. Everything was DELICIOUS!! We had an issue with doordash but everything got worked out on our end. I would highly recommend this place. It was a little pricey, but we figure if it's good it's worth it.

I've been eating here since they first opened because I live in the area, and this is without a doubt some of the best food, and hands down the best thai food I have ever had. 10/10 Highly recommend!!!

This was my first time trying Som Za. Portions are very generous. Phenomenal service. I ordered: Pho bo, fried rice, vegetable dumplings, egg rolls, and vegetable pad see ew and everything was fresh and very flavorful. Will definitely be returning in the future.

Great Thai Food experience!

I do not know how more people do not know about this place! The food is so flavorful and fresh-service is amazing and everyone is so nice there. I personally am new to Thai cuisine but found everything I order is unlike any food I’ve ever had. The pineapple chicken fried rice and orange chicken is the best!

Great gluten free options

I really wanted to like this place , but this is the second time I tried their take out and I wont be ordering from here again . I went here when they first openend and loved it ! I was so excited because it was in my neighborhood, never had an issue until I ordered take out. Portions are soo small and this last time all of my rice dishes were not cooked through all the way , talk about crunchy rice , yuck !

I am writting this review so that they are aware and they can correct things before its to late . I now drive an extra 15 minutes to buy my thai food when this place is 5 minutes away , its really disappointing!

We tried Som Za soon after the tragic loss of the chef and owner of the previous Thai incarnation at this location. We found it MAJORLY lacking in flavor and service. It was not bad, just largely flavorless (which I guess sort of defines a key element of "bad" for food). It was at least a year until we tried them again. We just needed Thai! It was late enough that we did not want to cook it at home! So we tried Som Za again. THIS is why we always try places twice. We just regret that we waited this long. We got three entrees and two appetizers and ALL were wonderful! HUGE flavor, skillful preparation, authentic ingredients. There was even detectable spice in one of the two main dishes!!! This is something that we NEVER get as white people from Asian restaurants, generally for good reason (people complaining about things being too spicy when they asked for it to be spicy...we ACTUALLY like spice). It is SO great to have another restaurant in the Joliet area at which we will happily eat. It's even better that it is a local, independent shop. WE LOVE Som Za and will go back again and again!

This is our go to spot for pad thai. I get the combo pad thai and my fiancee gets the veggie. Its delicious each time. We order here at least once or twice a month.

Good food, the only thing that affects this place is that tall man with a small beard and oriental features, who is very unkind and with sour treatment for customers, apparently he bothers to serve customers because they interrupt his session of chat since he is always glued to the cell phone, he forgets that it is the customers who pay the income to this place and I think that he should stop to think about this and make more commitment to good service and customer service, although they do not speak the same language ... he is a pedantic and unpleasant type ... what if this place honors is the good seasoning of the kitchen.

I LOVE this place! I order here all the time. My favorite things to order are the Shumai, Thai Spring Rolls and Shrimp in Blanket. The Shumai here is the best I have tried at any other Thai restaurant. I'm on a Shumai trying mission lol. I have also had the Pad King and that was oh so good too. The Thai Iced Tea is a must also.

Absolutely delicious! I had extra-spicy yellow curry and white rice delivered via Uber Eats. The flavors instantly took me back to when I was living in Khon Kaen province as a Buddhist monk.

I have never had much Tai food, until a co-worker turned me on to Somza. Every dish we have had is simply amazing, George is an excellent chef! We eat here at least a couple times a month. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food choices. I usually get Tom Yum soup, but I have had the Jungle soup the last two times that I went. Jungle soup is seasoned the same way Tom Yum would be seasoned if ordered Thai Style. Really liked it!

So, so good! The shrimp shumai was am excellent starter, and the Ba mee q was an amazing pork and dumpling soup. Suzanne, our server, was great and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!!

We had an excellent experience at Som Za Thai Cuisine!!! The service was perfect! The food was amazing and the portions are abundant. The prices are more than fair and we were both able to have lunch the next day with the leftovers. The egg rolls, crab rangoons and corn croquettes were absolutely fantastic and fresh!! The Priew Wan and Plik Pow entrees were fabulous!! We got our food at the perfect temperature enjoyed our meal very much!! Cannot wait to go back! Don't forget the Thai iced tea - excellent!

Som Za is the best. 5 stars only because I couldn't give them 6. Pineapple fried rice with shrimp and Thai tea.

Incredible Thai food. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Joliet. They have the best Tom ka soup I’ve ever tried. After discovering this restaurant a year ago my wife and I have come about 50 times. We even ordered this for pickup twice when we were stuck in the hospital following my second daughters birth. I highly recommend trying it if you haven’t.

Long wait

Ordered take out from here. The teriyaki chicken. Found what I can only guess was a paper doily all throughout my food. Of course the food is covered in teriyaki so it wasn't immediately apparent something was wrong. What's up with that Som Za?

See this place had good reviews so figured we would try it. Everything we had was good. Got pad Thai and pad see-u, both very good. Egg rolls were excellent too. Definitely would go again if In that area

Everything I've eaten here has been so good. The Tom Yum soup is my most favorite item on the menu.

The crispy tofu was excellent, the papaya salad was tasty, it was strange with the crab. I wish the salad would have had the traditional dressing though, while the dressing that was on it tasted good, it's just so much better with the traditional spicy stuff. Service was good and fast. Great menu selection for the food, drink options - water, coke, diet and sprite....no tea....

Just walked out of this one horse establishment
I sat for 5 minutes watching this numbscull behind the counter jack around with his adding machine tape not even acknowleging us and so I had to get up walk to the counter and ask for a menu only to be told "hold on one second". Then he brings over the menus and leaves without even greeting us. Then drops 2 glasses of water and leaves before I could request a thia iced tea. He then goes and does a vanishing act into the back kitchen. Needless to say we got up and left. First and last time this place sees us.

This a great, out of the way kind of place. It's really small, maybe 30 people. The food is fresh and superb service. A large enough menu to fit anyone's needs. Go there at least once you will not be disappointed.

I've had worse... But Nothing special here. The veggies are way undercooked. I like crispy veggies but even the cabbage is crunchy. The sauce on the pad Thai is too sweet for me and tastes like straight MSG. The veggie dumplings(goyoza) are full of mush and have no flavor and I swear I bit into meat. Honestly I've had better frozen Thai food. $25 to get pad Thai and veggie dumplings... 90% noodles 10% toppings... Never order from here again. Low quality Ingredients

Great food and service. My wife and I dined tonight and it was awesome. I had the spicy chicken salad and vegetable tom yum and she had the papaya salad and fried octopus balls. The octopus balls are some of the best I've ever had. everything was wonderful and we will definitely be back!

The food was pretty good. Crab Rangoon could be better but their spring rolls are the best I’ve had in a long time. It’s a small shop and handling large orders backs everything up. However, my experience was ok at best. I placed an order for pick up and my order took 40 minutes longer on a weekday. Also, the portion size for the price was not worth it. I hope they figure this out because they have potential to be great.

The funny thing about Pad Thai is every Thai restaurant makes it with mostly the same ingredients yet it tastes different. Theirs is very good and I will be back again. I washed it down with a couple of Thai iced coffees.

My wife had the spicy chicken salad which was very good and would have made for an excellent lettuce wrap. She also had beef with broccoli and I loved that as well.

I also had fish cakes (forgot the name) as an appetizer, they were somewhat chewy and I enjoyed them but my wife did not.

They have limited seating, and seem to be more orientated towards take out but the atmosphere is pleasant and the overall dining experience is enjoyable.

Pricing is also quite reasonable making it a good lunch option should you live or work in the area.

Food was great. Service was lousy. My entire meal didn't come out at the same time and no explanation was offered. Tables were greasy. The whole place looked a bit grimy. Condomints were on some tables, not on ours, not offered. The condomint rack themselves looked greasy.

Honestly gross. We ordered the corn croquettes and gyoza as apps. The croquettes were just wet bread with a couple corn pieces and the the gyoza was labeled vegetarian on the menu, but I bit into them and found pork. The waiter said, "it's not meat, but honestly I don't know what it is." NOT REASSURING. Not to mention they were cold and soggy. I ordered the Kee Moa with tofu and it was soooooo oily I couldn't eat it. Along with my partner's entree it ended up being close to $50 and we didn't even order drinks. All in all, I'm very disappointed and my stomach hurts.
