Vong’s Thai Kitchen (VTK), an early 2000’s favorite from Lettuce Entertain You, is bringing back their classic dishes for a limited time only for carryout and delivery.
Executive Chef Arnulfo Tellez of Shaw’s Crab House studied under famed New York chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten at Vong. VTK, a more casual tribute to Vong, was open from 2001 – 2009 in River North, with a menu focused on accessible Thai and Asian flavors.
VTK is available for delivery and curbside pick up at 21 E. Hubbard St. (Shaw’s Crab House – Chicago).
Red curry chicken - Top dish in my picture. Tasted ok. Didn't look like much but was surprisingly filling.
Chicken pad thai - Pretty disappointing. The chicken didn't really look like chicken, it was very confusing to eat.
Fast service. Only took 10-15 min to make for take out.
We loved VTK back in the day and have been a loyal Leye customer for years. We ordered two red curry and a garlic noodle dish. The two dishes were not red curry, no pineapple , no lemon. It tasted almost like a panang curry. It had peanuts in it which is not even in description of red curry. We have pictures. We drove from the burbs to pick it up and are extremly dissappointed. The person that picked up the phone said thank you for your feedback and hung up. No resolution. What a waste of time and money . Horrible service for loyal customers
Update: Manger called back same day and apologized and took care of the entire bill as well. Hope we get to try the correct Red Curry Dish when back in the city. The Garlic Noodle's are quite delicious, so willing to give the 5 stars for a prompt resolution and quality food of LEYE that I am used to. Thank you
I’m a huge LEYE fan but this restaurant has disappointed me for a second time now. I ordered the Shrimp Curry and received an order that contained Chicken Curry. Besides that the other entree that My boyfriend ordered, Chicken Miso, was an appallingly small portion size. Besides this the precious time I ordered the Shrimp scurry was wrong and had giant noodles in it which is not what I ordered. Needless to say I’ll never be ordering from this place again, and will think twice when ordering from another LEYE restaurant in the future.
No vegetarian option at all if you do not want fish sauce, . Not seafood allergy friendly.
Staff are very nice on the phone hence two stars. I do enjoy Thai food that has no fish sauce option.
Great Chili Crab! Spicy and fun to eat, I would also recommend the rocket rolls, they are ridiculously good!
