This feels just like the Isan region. It took me a long time to make it out to the city from the burbs, but this place is worth it. The varieties of salads were fantastic. I went for the pork neck salad, which is just perfect for me. The meat was tender and flavored well by the spices. This restaurant can make it as hot as you want, but I toned it down as I don’t want to sweat.
I really enjoyed the traditional Isan region music and the decor that makes it feel like any shop you could see in Thailand. Even though I didn’t dine during lunch but 2 hours after, the place was packed. That was a good sign.
I ended the meal with a traditional coconut pudding, it really tastes so home-like. The restaurant does carry many Thai staples, but for sure try of the Isan regional favorites. You won’t regret it.
We have wanted to check out this place for a while and we went there a couple weeks ago. It was a disappointment because the food was not good. We had the Tum Tuk Tuk salad. The salted crab in it has a really strong fishy earthy unpleasant taste in it, which basically ruined the whole salad made it uneatable. I have had marinated raw crab many times and many places, non of them tasted like this. Then the Talay Pad Pong Karee, which is the seafood curry. The flavor was pretty good, but the shrimps in it was not fresh. Every single piece tasted really mushy like them have been frozen and unfrozen many times. The Kai Yang grilled chicken was not good quality meat and have been marinated too long that tasted not fresh also. The only good dish was the mango stick rice which was very milky and coconuty, it would be a great dish if instead of 13 dollars, it’s something around 8 dollars.
I recently tried out Tuk Tuk Thai Isan in Chicago, and it was a pretty enjoyable experience. The restaurant has a casual, welcoming atmosphere, which made it a nice spot for a relaxed meal. The menu focuses on Isan-style Thai cuisine, which offers a nice change from the more common Thai dishes you see around the city.
The food was flavorful, with bold spices and fresh ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the papaya salad and the grilled meats—they were packed with authentic flavors. However, the spice level is on the higher side, so if you're not a fan of heat, you might want to ask for a milder version.
Service was generally good, though the restaurant can get busy, which might mean a bit of a wait. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.
Overall, Tuk Tuk Thai Isan is a great place to try if you’re in the mood for something different from the usual Thai fare. The food is tasty and authentic, and the casual vibe makes it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal.
If you're craving authentic Thai flavors with a vibrant twist, this spot should be at the top of your list! Stepping inside feels like a mini escape to the streets of Isan, with neon lights and lively decor that bring a street-food vibe into a cozy setting. The energy is welcoming and warm, and the staff only adds to the experience with service that’s prompt and genuinely friendly.
A must-try is the ka prow moo krob. This stir-fried pork belly dish is out of this world! The pork belly has the perfect balance of crispy skin and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness—an addictive combination that packs incredible flavor in each bite. Another standout is the Tiger Cry appetizer, featuring tender, marinated rib-eye steak slices. The tangy lime sauce on the side adds a zesty kick that complements the savory flavors perfectly.
Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, capturing the essence of Thai street food with authenticity and flair. This place definitely earns a spot on my must-visit list whenever I'm in the area. Whether you’re a Thai food enthusiast or just looking for an unforgettable meal, this spot delivers on all fronts.
Another night of Thai delivery. They don’t mess around with spice here. The panang curry was very simple but delicious. Plenty of chicken and the level four spice was felt. Only thing I wish was that there were some vegetables in it to add more variety. The other dish I got was the pad kee mao. Great balance of spice and savory. Noodles were soft and veggies provided some crunch. Chicken, again, was cooked well and lots of it. Also, got level four spice and I was feeling it. These dishes were simple but incredibly flavorful and exactly what I expect when ordering Thai.
Very tasty Thai street food, liked the atmosphere too!
Great experience overall! Very niche space with eclectic decoration! The food was great! One thing about the food was that my fiance ordered a 1 for spice and it still turned out kind of spicy.
Worst dining experience in America in 25 years. Three meals for table of 8 delivered were wrong - very clearly not ordered. One meal was delivered one hour and a half after we placed our orders. No apologies, no explanations and a 20% large group surcharge was on the check. Food was mediocre to poor Thai at best and small portions. We did not pay the surcharge. Don't go. Much better in many places nearby.
We really enjoy getting take out from here. Kind people and great service.
Food is very good. But the restaurant is very packed and when it's busy they seemed short staffed
A spiritual experience. Absolutely delicious and just the right level of curated and beautiful inside.
Have ordered food to go here multiple times since it's always very crowded inside. The panang curry is probably one of the best meals I have ever had. Can't recommend this place enough
Great atmosphere, huge portions, fresh tasting food, and quick service!!
Awesome Mango Sticky Rice!!!!
So far the best Thai food I had in Chicago compared to Thailand. Fast service, food is delicious.
got the pad see ew and it was super yum! the level 4 spice almost killed me but delicious none the less. interior is super cute and service is exceptional :).
Pad kee mao with tofu (vegetarian) was flavorful, esp the smokiness of wok.
Would like better if it was bit less oily

The green curry here is excellent! Very rich and thick with wonderful flavor and spices!
order for the delivery . Missing item no fork no spoon no napkin. Ask no spicy for one of the dish it come out very Spicy. really disappointed.
Ein kleiner, sehr feiner Laden lädt Euch ein mit sehr gutem Essen und einem sehr gutem Service. Es gibt auch schöne Varianten für Vegetarier!
Absolutely delicious Thai food!! Worth every penny!
My pad Thai fell out the bottom of the takeout paper bag, and I called them and told them and they remade it for me with no hesitation and it was ready in 15 minutes. Could not believe how great the service is and everyone who works there is lovely!! And the food is delicious always!!! Will definitely be back again and again!!
Had dinner at this place the other night. I’m still feeling sick two days later. Extremely unsanitary environment! Would never go back! Suggest you stay away if you value your health! Staff was making inappropriate jokes about my friend who has a disability and is wheelchair dependent.
Not impressed, expected much better, flavors flat, service uninspired. Not going back.
I would never eat at this place again. Everything was dirty. And to respond to your ridiculous passive aggressive assertion. Reading your other reviews I'm definitely not the only 1 who had this experience. They must all have been at wrong restaurant also. Or it's true. I can see why u picked option a. As ludicrous as it is
Extremely disappointed, from the food and especially the cleanliness of this place!
I recently had the chance to try Tuk Tuk Thai, and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I expected. As a fan of Thai cuisine, I was excited to sample their offerings, but I left feeling disappointed.
First off, the service was lackluster. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, which led to long wait times for my order. I understand that street food can get busy, but a little efficiency would go a long way.
When my food finally arrived, I was shocked at the portion sizes. For the price I paid, I expected more than what was served. The Pad Thai was underwhelming—bland and lacking in the vibrant flavors typically associated with this dish. I could barely taste the tamarind, and the vegetables were overcooked and mushy.
To make matters worse, the cleanliness of the restaurant left much to be desired. I noticed some debris on the counter and the utensils looked like they hadn’t been properly washed. That’s a huge red flag for me. Don't get me started about the quality of the bathroom.
Overall, I had high hopes for Tuk Tuk Thai, but the combination of poor service, lackluster food, and questionable cleanliness made it a disappointing experience. I won’t be returning anytime soon and would recommend looking elsewhere for authentic Thai street food.
Went in for lunch - 10000/10. Signature Pad Thai was awesome. The Tom Kha was delicious. Everything was flavorful and seasoned just right. A little pricey but totally worth it. Can't wait to come back.
Wonderful local place where You're served by Thai people. I feel like I am transported back to Thailand and they offer authentic food.
The Thai food here is delicious and quite spicy! They also have milder selections too. I only give 4 stars for food because the chicken was undercooked. Slightly bloody, even though it says the wings are “fried hard” but their recommended dishes are good! I would go back.

The search for the best Tai restaurant is over! This is it! Can’t wait to come back.
Omg they are busy. So good.

Authentic Thai
Great quality and very tasty. But holy fook it’s spicy
We ordered Tom Yum soup with tofu and Pad Thai noodles with tofu for a vegetarian friend. We found chicken pieces in the food, and the taste was disappointing. We won’t be returning!
Just got back from Thailand, wanted to have my friend try some Thai food… he says it’s delicious, but taste like Satan made it himself. I guess a bit too spicy for the farang 😂😂
10/10 would recommend this restaurant!!!!!!!!
Great little spot for a date with amazing food.
Best Thai in town, a hidden gem. The food and flavors are excellent and keep me coming back for more.
The Ka Prow was super tasty and the perfect amount of spice. Service was great and the servers all were very friendly. Coming back to edit that this place has yet to disappoint. It’s definitely on the pricier side but it’s normal in this area and the servers are always so kind.
BEST MEATBALLS EVER
THESE WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT MEATBALLS
I’ve never been a meatball enthusiast but HOLY COW MAN
Consider me a believer
(Note: these are the laab mootod)
Vibrant, flavorful, street food style Thai food celebrating the Isan region. The decor transports you to a different culture. Menu is elaborate with many options. Definitely will try to go again soon.
Papaya salad was outstanding.
Spicy level adjustable. BYOB.
May take some wait time. Plan accordingly.
Edit: the morning after I was violently sick from both ends, after bad gas the night of eating.
The food does not match the price, in any conceivable way. Flavors clashed in the soup (tomatoes taste cheap?). The portions are small for the cost, especially considering the ingredients used. Especially considering it's a "street food" theme. I'm not sure what's going on here.
My friend recommended me this place for grabbing some Thai food. I’m fully blown away by their food choices. I enjoy every single item that we ordered. Especially the soup is great mixed well with white rice. Yummy!!
Authentic Thai street food! Have been there many times and never disappointed
Veggie Tom Kha, broth was delicious. Butterfly pea lime juice was refreshing.
Stellar Thai food and service from the team at Tuk Tuk! Had several of their offerings such as the papaya salad, BBQ pork, Tom Yum soup and Pad See Ew, all were top tier. We will definitely be back in the near future. Keep rocking it Tuk Tuk!
Super cute, BYOB, great atmosphere, very nice staff, but wish the food lived up to the hype. Signature dishes meh, standard pad see eew.
Would come here more for the vibe. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Appreciate the BYOB option.
Fast, tasty and great atmosphere. PS It’s BYOB if that’s you’re kind of thing.
Absolutely one of the very best Thai places I've ever eaten at in any US state so far. The service was great! Our server had a lovely smile and made genuinely great reccomendations. We tried a few different items and all of them were fantastic! 10/10 will return next time I'm in Chicago. Don't forget the dessert, the Mango sticky rice is perfection!
Go to Thai place. Food is delicious and the vibes are unmatched.
Best Thai food I found in Chicago thus far!
Nothing we ate was mediocre - it was all phenomenal!

Best Thai food in the city! The green curry was so authentic and the service was great!
I haven’t tried much Thai or Isan food in Chicago, but this restaurant stands out as the most authentic Thai experience I’ve had so far. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was served quickly. The flavors were exceptional, perfectly balancing sweet, salty, tangy, and umami notes. I will definitely return and highly recommend this place.
Technically would give it 4.5/5.
I had heard about it the good reviews of this place over social media so had to check it out. In a Monday night for one person had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated as the place is quite small. Then waited another 20 after ordering. It seems they have a lot of deliveries being placed backing up the kitchen compared to the number of tables they have.
Food was actually really delicious and the flavor was great. Portion size was generous and I was stuffed for sure.
Only thing is the service could be a bit better. Definitely some awkward moments with the server who is quite dead pan and matter of fact. But she did say thanks for coming in which I appreciate!
We had been recommended this place by someone that was from Thailand and I LOVED it.
Although I haven't been to Thailand, I have had the pleasure of eating authentic Thai food growing up thanks to a friend's mom from there.
Both dishes we got were delicious and the decor was so nice. The vibe was very casual but authentic.
The menu was a little hard to navigate as a vegetarian but I'm a little "looser" these days so I could find something to eat.
I was too full to try dessert but the mango sticky rice that the table next to us got looked amazing and my mouth was watering. I'd go back to at least try that and some other offerings on the menu. Definitely a hidden gem in the area.
its alright :( not wow
As someone with Thai heritage, and an avid lover of Thai restaurants in Chicago, Tuk Tuk became one of my favorite restaurants when I found it. I love the Tom Yum soup, it is delicious. Everything is beautiful.
Added this to one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Everything we ordered was amazing.
We had the Crab Rangoon as appetizer, Pad Kee Mao (Seafood), Kao Pad Krapow (Pork), and thai iced tea! My favorite is the Pad Kee Mao, would love it to be spicy tho! The squid and shrimp matches so well with the noodles. The servings were huge too, good for sharing.
Will definitely come back to try more.
Small restaurant serving a good variety of dishes. It’s a bit loud for my taste but the stream of customers waiting for tables tells you that the food is seasoned well.
Staff was a bit short with me, i said what I wanted for my appetizer and before i could continue she put her hand up towards my face, said "Ok" and walked away.
Everyone else was friendly enough but thought that was rude.. not to mention it was my birthday 🫠
The Tum Thai Papaya Salad was delicious! Great place!
Being from St. Louis, we're so glad our Thai friends suggested Tuk Tuk Thai Isan Street Food during our visit to Chicago. N'Aun, our server was incredibly patient and accommodating with my picky eating habits, making our dining experience absolutely delightful. The friendly staff and authentic Thai dishes create an unforgettable atmosphere. If you're in Chicago and craving delicious Thai food, definitely hit up Tuk Tuk Thai—you won't regret it! 💯
So good
The Thai food is the best in the city right now. The location is also about ten minutes walking from The Neighborhood Hotel. We ate the crab fried rice, the pad thai and the green curry. I am excited to go back soon.
The noodles at this place are horrendous. Honestly, some of the worst Thai food I've gotten in Chicago. You see all the good photos of their mains, but it doesn't pass on to their other dishes. Literally no taste. I can make better Thai food at home. Pass, if you're doing takeout. The Thai iced tea was OK, but tasted like it was from a packet. And, yes, I'm one of the few people who has been to Thailand (Bangkok).
Sooo good!!! Signature pad thai and panang curry!!
The food was great and came out very quickly. Our server, Por was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back and recommending to my friends
Excellent Thai food!! Will def go back
Excellent, authentic Thai food. Colorful ambience, efficient service. Felt like I was in Thailand!! 🐘
Awesome Thai place in Lakeview. The food seems super authentic and I love the decor inside the restaurant. It is vibrant and fun and it seems to be fairly busy. The presentation was amazing and it tasted great. I loved the pad see eiw. The Panang curry was good as well.
很推荐
The food here was so delicious, we didn’t even get a chance to take a picture of the curry before we absolutely housed the entire bowl. Flavors were robust and distinctive- the papaya salad we had was the best I’ve had in my entire life. We weren’t huge fan of the drunken noodles, they were very sweet, but still enjoyable. Super affordable, especially if you’re eating family style! Super friendly service, BYOB, highly recommend ♥️
It was busy and we came with very high expectations about the taste. We saw the reviews and many people recommendation. We all 10 of us and got so disappointed because everything is too sweet. We order so many dishes and we all are agreed that they are all sweet. Papaya salad is blend and too sweet that We need to ask them to make it more spicy and add lime. Too sweet to be authentic thai. Sorry.
Service is ok. Parking is a bit tough.
Lots of flavor in the food and lots of options. The interior is on the small side and pretty cute. I’ve tried various dishes across many categories and they’re all pretty great. The desserts are good, but tame: the portion sizes are on the smaller end and they aren’t super sweet, so depends on what you’re looking for. BYOB is nice, but they do charge a corkage fee. Service is straightforward and timely.
Way too spicy - ordered level 1 and my whole mouth was burning for an hour after, could not even taste the papaya salad. Service was nice, but not great, atmosphere was okay, music was a tad too loud to have a conversation at a normal volume, which had everyone shouting again. Felt it was also overpriced.
Tuk Tuk is genuinely special. I have come back again and again, its delicious every time, and just feels so unique. I genuinely feel like I can't get the food I eat here anywhere else. I know other people feel the same way because I never come and it's not been full or nearly full- expect to wait in line. The vibe inside is vibrant and can be loud.
But the food- oh the food. My recommendations (should be pictures for all):
Laab Moo Tod- This is probably my favorite dish in the world right now. They are these small, extremely crispy meatballs. The flavor is out of this world, so intense. They are pretty spicy, but it's part of the experience- you need to try them.
Ka Prow Moo Krob- This is my go to entree. It's super crispy pork belly in a delicious sauce with basil and onions, so good. If you want it hot, they can make it hot (trust me). But honestly I would eat this one with zero spice, the flavor is just so good on its own. Also good with a fried egg.
Talay Pad Pong Karee- I genuinely don’t know how to describe this dish. They bring you out this huge plate of seafood with some sauce on it- but it is delicious. The shrimp and squid are really good and the sauce is so good, quite sweet, not spicy (unless you want it to).
Pla Rad Prik- Tried this one for the first time tonight and was very satisfied. It's the most expensive item on the menu but stands up to the price. A full snapper, skin scored for maximum crispiness, deep fried then covered in an insanely delicious sauce. Usually ordering whole fish is not the best experience, but I had no issue getting all of the meat off of the bones. It was insanely crispy and so flavorful.
I love it here so much, please try it out.
Amazing Food!
The pad Thai is amazing! I order every other day, but the food is always better in the evening. The morning/ afternoon cook, not so good.
Didn’t have a good experience with takeout here. First time trying it. Pad kee mao is supposed to be spicy, and it was very sweet tasting. Pad see ew had small egg shells pieces in it. Paid $3 extra for shrimp and the quality of the shrimp was not good at all. Prices are kind of high for the quality of food.
This is the most authentic Thai (Isan) place ever. All the food I have ordered are just so delicious and the flavors are on point.
Small but excellent place for authentic Thai food.
Very friendly staff
Great ambiance great for waiting 30 min+ for my salad. Chef forgot about my order. Rest of the food was ok. Smaller than usual portions. Servers look overwhelmed. If you look at the 1 star ratings, it’s true. I gave 3 stars cos wait times were not as bad as expected and the place was nicely decorated.
Good was delicious!! We are in town for the weekend and planned to come here for the last month.
This will be one of my rare reviews where I don’t mention the food. There was no hospitality shown by the restaurant’s staff. It’s just that simple. We were given a 30 min wait time and ended up waiting 80 min. No apology given, no “thank you for waiting”. We had barely started our mains when one of the waitresses came to our table to tell us it was the “last call” to order food even though the restaurant was still more than half full. The check was practically thrown at us. Obviously nothing comped (let’s just say that that part didn’t take me at all by surprise). Again no thank you after paying/getting ready to leave, which is pretty much a first in my experience. Ok, I’ll mention the food. It wasn’t nearly good enough to make up for such terrible hospitality and I’m of the very low maintenance patron variety. Simply inexcusable. A restaurant to be avoided.
The food is authentic and the service is good. This is one of the go to places. Only wish is a less salty option.
Yuck 😝. They literally put hotdogs in the wantons and tired to fool us calling the protein “chicken sausage”.
I hate hotdogs and don’t appreciate the deception.
Food was absolutely phenomenal! Great service, balanced flavors, authentic taste. Can’t beat it 💯
Maybe we’re ordering the wrong dishes because everyone raves about this place or the takeout just isn’t close to the dine in but the dishes were all just fine from what we’ve tried. It is definitely super spicy so if that’s not your thing don’t go above the 1 chili scale
Bad shrimp quality. Feel sick after eating it.
Great Restaurant.
Phenomenal service, amazing food
Get the coconut pudding. Tiny. Dairy free. Delicious.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Everything is good. Can’t go wrong.
food: 4
service: 4.5
ambiance: 4
fun atmosphere, lovely service. had some really tasty bites (laad moo tod) and then ordered the whole fried snapper which was very good.
sadly the tom kha soup, and actually everything in general, came out either all at once or at weird moments during our dinner. the soup came out almost after we had finished with everything. and it wasn’t my fav tom kha soup i’ve had in the city.
Very nice place with very good food. Unfortunately no alcohol is served. That is the only downside.
Ok, this now is my new best authentic Thai food place 😋. We were a larger group, so we got to try almost everything on the menu, and each item was 5 stars. Great job. 👍
Very good food, and great service! It’s also BYOB which is an added treat when enjoying your meal.
One of the best Thai food in Chicago! Waitress is super friendly too!
Great vibe but the noodles all taste like pancakes. Seriously. Tastes like maple syrup. Left feeling legit inflamed throughout my entire body from the amount of sugar. Seriously, I know they added like a bottle of maple syrup. Good service tho!
Great atmosphere, great food. Tried a variety of dishes and couldn't go wrong with any of them. Had several seafood dishes. It is typically difficult to get seafood at restaurants that is both fresh and not overcooked. Tuk Tuk checked both of those boxes. I can't wait to go back and try additional dishes.
Adorable restaurant with very kind staff. Food was great too!
Excellent food and ambience!
Had Pork Belly entree. Crispy and spicy! Good size serving. Other person had curry-creamy and spicy. So good. Everyone nice. Good atmosphere
תאילנד בשיקגו.
האוכל פשוט וטעים.
מומלץ ברמות!!
