One of the better options for Asian food in the neighborhood; we liked the bamee noodle and Bangkok chicken.

However, their website has one of the most poorly designed online ordering systems I’ve ever encountered. It feels like I’ve been teleported back to 2010. You have to jump through a half dozen hoops to make an order - they require you to register a new account, pick a password without special characters, confirm their email, manually fill out all your credit card information without Apple Pay integration, etc. Oh, and the account registration didn’t work the first time because the ordering system just cut off my password after 10 characters…

Hope they eventually just switch to using Toast or something for their ordering system instead!

my friend wanted thai afterwork. order a veggie fried rice. there were so many veggies and hardly any rice. taste is ok. the store needs to upgrade there style. the owner takes credit card numbers over the phone with speaker on. that's a security breach and someone can gather that info.

If you are looking for Good Thai food this is the place a little older but clean and quiet

We got lucky and must have hit right between rushes cause when we arrived there were only one other table there. The Host and waiter were both friendly and gracious and stayed on top of our needs without hovering. The best part was the food. We had ordered the chicken satay, pot stickers, and shumai for appetizers which were not only delicious but seemed to come out just as the Order hit the kitchen. Our entrees consisted of 2 orders of pad wa se, the drunken noodles, and an order of the bamee. Not 5 minutes after finishing our appetizers did we have our food in front of us. Everything was delicious and piping hot. Needless to say I can't wait to go back and would recommend that if your looking for good Thai cuisine, this is the kind of place to look for.

I searched for Thai food in Chicago and Snail is near my home & gym. However, when I arrived there )approximately 3:10 pm on Thursday). The exterior door was unlocked BUT the. interior door was locked and the place was empty despite the hours posted on their door. Bad omen for my Bday.

Diner Review №11

Service was great and fast. The food there was amazing and very filling. I had a great experience overall.

Diner Review №12

Diner Review №13

My favorite Thai spot! I tried something new tonight. Pineapple curry. I loved it along with old favorites golden bags and lemon chicken.

Diner Review №14

Not bad, not amazing. Slightly above average. We ordered drunken noodles and Thai basil chicken. Probably wouldn’t come back but good for a try from picky Thai eaters 😀

Love it. 🤗 My prayers n blessings for Snail restaurant. ❤️

Diner Review №17

I’ve been coming here for years. I love this place. If I’m in hyde park I always try and stop by for. I’ve never dined in but the take out is always on point

Diner Review №18

I ordered the khao soi. It tasted good but curry is a little too thick to enjoy the khao soi with noodles. Also wished they had the option for fried chicken instead. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the food here!

Diner Review №19

Very good food and very nice servers. Had the lemon grass soup and duck curry, both were excellent. Food came out quickly despite a small crowd , so the service was excellent . Will be coming back for sure ..

Diner Review №20

The best potstickers in the city.

Diner Review №21

Had the red curry, was very good, would highly recommend!

Diner Review №22

They make the best Thai food I've ever had and are super friendly. Their curry is delicious with the perfect amount of spice, and everything is always cooked thoroughly. Never had any issues.

Diner Review №23

Diner Review №24

The food was DELICIOUS, also the staff were really kind almost like we made a friend

Diner Review №25

The workers here are very nice

Diner Review №30

Wonderful local Thai restaurant that I regularly order delivery from. The food is delicious, the service is warm and friendly. My favorite apps are chicken satay (great side salad too), chive dumplings, duck egg rolls, and golden bag, plus panang and massaman curries.

Diner Review №31

Excellent food, quick service, good prices
My favourites are drunken noodles, cashew vegetable, taste good noodles.
They have lots of vegetarian options

Diner Review №32

We love the Snail and order take out from them regularly. I also use them frequently for catering orders for my work at the university and the food is always delicious and the service is fantastic. The owner always remembers us and small details about our family which is very thoughtful.

Diner Review №33

Everything that we ordered was really flavorful and delicious. We ordered Pad Mee, Snail Noodles, Red Curry, and one of the chicken menu from the appetizer. Can't wait to go for another visit.

Diner Review №34

Amazing Food, Amazing Service, Server is the funniest and sweetest! He will always make sure if you can handle spicy or not lol

Diner Review №35

Very disappointed - food comes in super tiny portion and not well seasoned.

Diner Review №36

Very small portion and very basic food. Only seasoning is sweet and sour. Fake Thai food very disappointed. For those who want to try real Thai food, lakeview has good one. Do not recommend anyone try this, to some point I even want my money back.

Diner Review №37

I have never had better chicken satay in my entire life (and I order it often)

Diner Review №40

Best Thai food in Hyde Park! Had a different array of items all of them were delicious!

Diner Review №41

It was a small restaurant with good quality of food. Took fried rice, ramen and garlic chicken as entree. Fried squid and soup for starters. Each food had their own charisma. Loved it

Diner Review №42

By far, my favorite Thai restaurant in Hyde Park

Diner Review №43

Best Thai food in Chicago and absolutely the best workers. The friendliest people you’ll ever meet in a restaurant setting, even when they are busy. All the curry’s are delicious, and don’t forget the amazing Thai iced tea. Just go here, you won’t regret it

Diner Review №56

The Crab Rangoon, the soups, and panang Curry were delicious. The Pad Thai was a little on the mushy side, but overall it had good flavor. The service was excellent! Nice place to meet a group of friends or for couples. Noise level was low, eventhough there were many conversations going on. Definitely recommend.

Diner Review №57

So much love for this place, and run by the coolest people

Diner Review №61

Diner Review №62

The duck curry and the mango sticky rice are good. Service was quick. We went on off hours, but as it got closer to dinner time on a Sunday it started filling up. Take it would be good from here.

My new favorite restaurant. Friendly & personable staff, cute snail decor. Loved the Spicy Snail Noodles & Pad Thai. Will try more next time. Very cozy & perfect for date night!

Diner Review №67

Diner Review №68

Service was really nice and the ambience as well. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, few dishes are available which could be modified based on your preferences.

Diner Review №69

Excellent food and vibe

Diner Review №70

A charming little restaurant, and I got to gaze at this gorgeous stained glass while lunching! Many vegetarian options. I had a bowl of tom yum that was replete with colorful veggies, and the spring rolls were true (not fried). The staff are attentive and so polite.

Diner Review №71

DELICIOUS!

My friend and I were looking for a restaurant close to the Museum of Science and Industry and this gem popped up on the map. It was less than a 10 minute walk from the museum.

We stopped in close to 2:30pm and it was empty. But by the time we left around 3:15pm, the tables were getting filled up on one side.

I tried the Bangkok and Snail noodle dishes. My friend also had the Bangkok noodles and a mango bubble smoothie. All of it was incredible! I would order everything again. The snail noodle was a bit more vinegary than I expected, but I’d still eat it again. My only regret was not getting a bubble smoothie myself.

Service was fast and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I hope to come back. 😀

Diner Review №72

Great little Thai place! I had the green duck curry and it was amazing. The spices were wonderful and the dish had a bit of spice as well. Washed it all down with a delicious Thai tea.

The staff was friendly and the food came relatively fast.

If you love Thai food, or if you are looking for something new, I would highly recommend this place.

Diner Review №73

Duck eggrolls were tasty but not enough dipping sauce. Tom Yum soup was mediocre. Service could be more attentive. Have had worse experiences but also have had better.

Update: upgrading to 4 stars. Returned and both the service and food were much better. Get the pad woo sen.

Diner Review №74

Diner Review №75

kind waiter, smiled a lot. the red curry & bangkok chicken were delicious

Diner Review №76

Food never disappoints! I love the Pad Thai and the yellow curry (I get it with tofu). Superior food, friendly service, reasonable proces.

Diner Review №77

5’s all around. Owner (or family member) waited us and they were really kind and attentive. Food is amazing. Red curry was delicious and we asked for it spicy. Fried rice used a different type of rice than most thai restaurants but tastes good. The tofu tom kha was flavorful, unique and well-liked. Also have a few more authentic thai items on the menu than usual. Thai iced tea was good and quite sweet.

Diner Review №78

I wanted to taste Thai cuisine. My daughter brought me to this lovely family restaurant. I have never regretted.

Diner Review №79

Diner Review №80

Diner Review №84

Delightful solo experience at Snail Thai. It is a charming little neighborhood restaurant. Although everything sounded delicious on the menu I just ended up just getting a couple of apps. I planned to walk all day, so I didn't want anything too heavy. I absolutley loved the food, exquistite flavors and just the right amount to satistify my appetite. I plan to visit the area again with my mother and I know she'll love this place too!

Also a little side note that has nothing to do with the food, but was too cute and wholesome not to mention -
As I was dining solo I sat near the window at a small table, but since the dining area is so small, it was hard not to overhear the family dining behind me, but I gathered from their conversation with the server (owner?) that they were returning guests that used to be regulars who were visiting the neighborhood with their young children and reminising about the past. The server was so adorable chatting and fawning over the family with their babies (who were so well behaved). You could tell it was a happy moment for everyone. Based solely on that interaction alone I'd probably go back because you don't experience those wholesome moments often anymore, but the food was amazing and obviously the service is outstanding so...Snail Thai is definitely worth a visit!

Diner Review №85

Hidden gem. Extremely tasty selections. For a flavorful experience, great selection. Many selections have cashews. Cannot eat if you have a peanut allergy.

Snail Thai is my FAVORITE restaurant in Hyde Park!! The food is incredible, priced very reasonably, and the owner is just a joy to be around. I’d highly recommend to anyone in the area!!

Diner Review №92

The absolute best Thai restaurant in America! I have known the owner and been dining here for over 25 years, and it has never ONCE disappointed. The Snail exudes charm and character. The food is incredible. It epitomizes everything that is wonderful about Chicago neighborhood small-restaurant dining. This place is legendary amongst the University of Chicago and Hyde Park communities. If you are visiting the area, perhaps to see the nearby Museum of Science and Industry, The Snail is a must!

Diner Review №105

I bought a pad thai with tofu and a pad thai with chicken and both were very bad. The tofu felt like rubber and the chicken felt old, dry, very rubbery. Food terrible!

Diner Review №106

Very nice food. Warm, friendly service.

Diner Review №107

This is a decent Thai restaurant at Hyde Park. Food items were quite simple for the price you pay. Pad Thai is a good call.

Diner Review №108

Diner Review №109

Everyone was very kind and the food was sooooo yummy!!!!

Diner Review №110

Wanted some good Thai food, bus was mislead by the reviews raving about the food. First the good, the tilapia curry was good, the seafood vegetable was good they had good flavors. The salads paired with the appetizers were good. Now the bad, the beef tom yum ramen was awful the broth had a weird taste, cold and had no good aromatic, spiciness flavor that tom yum is known for. The fish cakes were small and dry , and the chicken satay was was the same, the chicken was overcooked. Overall, was below average, I could've spend $120 on something better.

Diner Review №111

Very kind staff and great food. A staple!

Diner Review №112

Good food, nice service

Diner Review №113

Food was very good! The Pad Thai is one of the best I have ever had. Great service!

Diner Review №114

Service was amazing, the server was phenomenal and answered all of our questions. We asked for the dessert to come last and as soon as we were done, it came right away. Boba was not too sweet and food was amazing, better than other Thai places I’ve eaten at before. Great place :)

Diner Review №123

I love the Snail. The owner is super sweet, the food is good. I'm vegetarian but friends like that duck is a standard option for protein. I can't wait until we can eat in the dining room again

Diner Review №124

Food I ordered was really bad so I dunno how they gat these stars , trick me

Diner Review №125

Great food and the friendliest staff in Chicago.

Diner Review №126

False advertisement was mislead by the online menu . Ordered shumai at 7 pieces was delivered 2 boxes and when they arrived there were 4. When I called they told me they changed the menu. The rest of the food was okay. Just ok
Disappointed

Diner Review №127

The rice soup was disgusting however the duck spring rolls were delicious. I should have gone to another restaurant and purchased pho.

Diner Review №128

Delicious going back again soon

Diner Review №129

Restaurant is very homey. Food tastes homemade, hot and delicious! Loved my Pad Thai dish

Diner Review №130

Used to be hands down my favorite restaurant on the south side of Chicago. I’ve tried half the menu and everything used to be excellent! The staff, too, was so welcoming and friendly!! Sadly, this place has gone steadily downhill over the past 4-5 years, seemingly exacerbated by the pandemic in the last year. During the entire year or so of the worst of the pandemic, I tried very hard to support as many local establishments as possible. I kept getting takeout here even when we had a few meals back to back that were atrocious. Finally, one of them was so bad that I went back in to ask the employee to make us some thing else. He refused, saying “ this is how we always make it.“ well, no, I’ve been coming here for 15 years and this is not how you make it. And anyway, that is not how you treat a customer whether they are a regular, like I was, or a first time visitor to your restaurant. If a customer tells you the meal is in edible, you make them something else.It breaks my heart to consider this now one of the Worst restaurants around rather than my absolute favorite spot.

Diner Review №131

I have been eating at The Snail Thai food for over 20 years. The food is so delish.
I could eat there everyday.
Everything is super fresh
Try the Ginger chicken its to die for or fabulous Gitaan Kai soup. No ground chicken used only slices of chicken breast.
No soggy veggies everything crisp & fresh. The cucumber salad is sooo delicious
I could go on and on. The pot stickers ooh wee Just try the snail
You will go back again & again.
Its healthy, fresh & delicious and
oh so unforgettable. 10/10 stars

Diner Review №132

I ordered a dish I've never had here, or before: Yum Nua Beet Salad. It's so good! It's also a nice alternative if you are avoiding carbs as I am. I also got the Green Tea Bubble Tea for old times sake

The food is the type that just warms your soul! Ordered takeout and the man who took our order was extremely friendly. If you’re looking for a small business to support right now, I highly recommend doing takeout from here. Portions are pretty hefty and a reasonable price (did the red curry and pad Thai).

Diner Review №160

This is the best Thai restaurant in Hyde Park. It's easy to confuse it with another on the same block but don't go there! Snail Thai is fresh and well prepared food. The quality ingredients shine through. It's reliable fast carryout with just the right amount of seasoning and heat.

Diner Review №161

Its just okay. Rice was overlooked and chicken was tough, but curry sauce tasted pretty good

Diner Review №162

My experience with Snail Thai Cuisine, was great! When I walked in the lady said my name (they were waiting on me. It was closing time).

There were two waiting, a lady and a gentleman. Both were very, very nice and accommodating. I ordered the Singapore noodles with chicken. It was plentiful and delicious! I will definitely return.

Diner Review №165

My family loves this place and is willing to drive across the city for it. They love the drunken noodles. Very kind staff too.

Diner Review №166

We ordered takeout from Snail and it was amazing.
The Pad Thai was perfectly flavored and the Sweet & Sour Pork tasted great. We also order Ginger Chicken and it was delicious. The portions were large and we will definitely order again. Once lockdown ends we will be eating here for sure.

Diner Review №167

My husband and I absolutely adore this place. The owners are so sweet, the food is delicious and the ambiance is quaint. A true little gem of Chicago!

Diner Review №169

Delicious, I eat here often!!

Diner Review №170

Diner Review №171

If you were to somehow personify hospitality, I'm certain that those avatars would look a lot like the guys at Snail Thai. I've been visiting this restaurant for about two years now, and each time I go I am greeted with warm recognition. It feels like returning to old friends.

The food is always freshly prepared and delicious. I always go with the fried shrimp and the pot stickers for appetizers. Then, I follow that up with the ginger chicken, the bird's nest noodles, or the fried rice (because I like a good cliché every now and then).

There are two other Thai food places located along Garfield Blvd, I'm told, but as far as I'm concerned Snail Thai is the only one that exists.

Diner Review №192

Diner Review №193

The place is very nicely decorated and the staff is VERY friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and was awesome! I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Diner Review №194

I pass this place often and the woman was very nice but the food made me sick for the night. That was disappointing

Diner Review №195

Service was slow eventhough it wasn't crowded. My usual staples of Tom kha (too salty), Spring Rolls (too soggy, lackluster sauce) and Panang curry was plain and soupy. How can you mess up Brown rice when you're charging an extra $2? It was overcooked and mushy. My daughter's green curry was too salty. Snail has fallen from it's glory days. Too bad. I can safely say worse Thai food in along time, grossly overpriced for what we received.

Diner Review №196

The thai masaman curry was nice. They added a few veggies to the curry on our request at extra one dollar. The appetizer and thai ice tea was also good.

Diner Review №197

Diner Review №198

Crab rangoon is very fishy. masaman curry was good but could have used more flavour and more potatoes (only 3 pieces in the whole order). Overall very average.

Diner Review №199

One of our all-time favorites in Hyde Park.
