Thailand is internationally recognized as the Land of Smiles. At Kinnaree Thai Kitchen, we're passionate about delivering this experience to our patrons. We are dedicated to serving traditional Thai flavors.
Ordered takeout here and wanted to try this place for the first time.
First red flag was a long delay (30+ mins) during our pickup even though the restaurant wasn't busy, they didn't appear to start making our order till we arrived for pickup.
We ordered very standard items: pad thai, pad see ew, and khao soy. While the food portions were ok, it did not taste like typical Thai food.. for example the pad see ew noodles were very bland and didn't have the normal sweet soy sauce flavor.
Overall was disappointed in the quality and lack of authenticity in their flavor, and my wife's stomach hurt afterwards as well. We unfortunately don't plan to order from here again as there are many other Thai options in the city.
Had a very enjoyable dinner at Kinnaree. It was our first time trying the restaurant so we came with another couple to make sure we can order a variety of food. All the food tasted great, full of flavour and spice level was good. We like the portion to price. Portions are not enourmous but neither is the price. This made it reasonable to order a variety. Our party of four ordered 3 appetisers and 4 entrees 👍 and one dessert. Family run business, which are like. Service was a bit slow but they get alot of carry out/delivery business so the kitchen gets very busy.
Unfortunately this restaurant is terrible. Let me explain….
1.) Don’t trust the raving reviews… they’re either outdated or fake
2.) We ordered online, and the food was ready in the 30 minutes quoted (The 1 star).
3.) I arrived at the location to pick-up my order, and when I entered the door a huge door bell ring went off (Assuming to notify them that a new customer has entered the building). To my surprise no one greeted me, and the restaurant was empty. After a few minutes of waiting and not hearing any movement, I decided to give a slightly louder then normal hello, to which I heard scurrying in the kitchen. After a few minutes a woman dressed in a hoodie and jeans came out and awkwardly looked at me as if she was waiting for me to state why I was there… I was about to explain that I was there for a pick-up order, before she chimed in and said To-go order/handed me a bag of food.
4.) My girlfriend and I, ordered the Pad Thai, Panang Curry, and Shumai dumplings.
The pan fried dumplings were wrapped in foil, so they weren’t crispy anymore. They tasted like bland pre-made meatballs comprised of chicken, and the outer dumpling shell was very oily. The sauce that came with them was bland.
The Panang Curry was very watery like instead of coconut milk, they used plain water. Also there wasn’t that peanut butter taste. The chicken was plentiful, but it had zero flavor. Overall it felt like there was no care or effort put into the food, and we could have easily followed any recipe on the internet to create something better tasting.
The Pad Thai. It’s a staple Thai dish, but this just had zero flavor besides the noodles that tasted overly sweet. No sauce on noodles, the chicken again had zero flavor, very dry crumbled egg bits, and I had to throw a bunch of siracha on it to make it taste decent. Not to mention that my first bite was a piece of Tofu that didn’t belong in our dish….
Overall this place just felt like a money grab… We paid $43 including tip. Check the low rated reviews, and take a look at those photos!
Kinnaree is our favorite Thai restaurant in the city! It's family owned and run, and it's clear that they take great pride in providing the highest quality service and food. I would highly recommend the kow pad fried rice, any of their curries, and all of their appetizers. Their iced coffee is also to die for!
I've come here often and it's always amazing, good service, great food, lovely earthy and comfortable atmosphere with the wood decor and plants, the food is always amazing. I've tried most things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Would heartily recommend coming if you're in Chicago and like Thai food!
I was craving some nice Pad Thai for a while and tried this restaurant out as it's close to my place. Safe to say that it didn't disappoint. Will surely be going back to try the other dishes
Bobby& lovely wife run a cozy, comfortable central Thai focused eatery in west Lincoln Pk. One of most delectable spiced ground chicken SPICY BASIL DISH in Chicago w fried egg on top w/ fragrant jasmine rice, huge portion $13.95. HUGE appetizer menu & great, tasty, shrimp chicken eggs rolls for $8. Til 10pm niely & BYOB, NO CORKAGE FEE. WORTH A VISIT!
Got this for a group of coworkers and probably the worst experience as the store was not even open on time. The soup is very watered down and did not have good flavor. Also got the curry and the potatoes were not even fully cooked. Turkey disappointed with this meal and unlikely to go there again.

Chicken satay, fresh rolls, pineapple fried rice, and everything 👍

A little heavenly nook where you’ll find delicious lunch specials. Great value and friendly service.
I had the pumpkin yellow curry and it was delicious. Also got a few appetizers that were great

Fantastic food and great prices. Will come again. ☺️❤️
The place is awesome, the food is delicious!!
It's a small family business. The food was great. The service was wonderful. All in all I would go back again. I had the chicken pad Thai and my daughter had a lemon soup (can't remember the full name of it). It's a small place but u can order take out.
I go to this restaurant for take out religiously atleast once a week. These guys know how to make spicy basil fried rice. 10:10
Very cozy place and good food.
Family run great place. The people are so nice & food is amazing & fresh with great flavor. It’s not located in any Main strip so a lot of people may not know about it, but its worth the stop. very quiet zen atmosphere with great food. Love supporting them, highly recommend.
Place is small but damn, it’s now one of my favorite Thai restaurants and I’ve been searching for a couple of years now since Trike closed in Logan.
I love that they chatter to vegetarian appetizers, I haven’t seen a place have so many options, esp. the veggie dumplings!
Wasn't thrilled by the food, to be honest, except the veggie egg rolls. Those were soooo good! Had the pad see yew and crab rangoons, too.
This is our favorite Thai food place in the city of Chicago. The people are so nice. It is family owned. They are always very timely and always make modifications to accommodate my allergy. Their food is delicious. We go here at least once a week!
I got takeout and was excited to try as everything looked very fresh. However, the pad Thai tasted extremely chemically possibly from the plastic container?? Or just whatever oil they used was exposed to chemicals. Either way did not taste good and was concerning. Portion size was extremely small. Spring rolls were soggy and had basically no filling. They were essentially just fried wanton wrappers. Overall not worth the money and will not be eating here again.

Big W. Very good food and service. We had the Pad Thai w/ Duck, Chicken Skewers w/ Peanut Sauce, Tom Yum soup w/ Tofu, and Crab Rangoon.
Nice ambience and staff. I enjoyed the appetizers more than the main dishes.
Amazing Bucktown Thai food!!
This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Chicago. I wish I lived closer. The food is so good and so authentic tasting. Having been to Thailand, it’s hard to find authentic tasting food, but Kinnaree does a great job! It’s just a warm and inviting atmosphere too with great staff :)

The best pad Thai in Chicago and excellent service
Excellent, fresh tasting Thai. Generous portions, and the best satay ever. A new favorite.
Try their green curry and mango rice! The Papaya salad was also phenomenal!
Great meal from Kinnaree! Highly recommend!
Arrived around 7:00 p.m., waited 20 minutes and received no service.
Ridiculous.
I love Thai food. It’s probably my second favorite cuisine, and I always have to try a place’s Panang curry. Naturally, Kinnaree’s was delicious. Additionally, we got some potstickers as an appetizer and those were tasty too.
Kinnaree is a very small restaurant with like 7 tables. It’s not super intimate because of how close you are to other tables but that is honestly part of the charm. When we went there, there was one man doing it all. He cooked, her served the food, and he cleaned up afterwards. He was polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you live nearby.
Ordered the pad thai & kow pad pineapple and both were great! We were happy with both the flavors and portions. Staff were efficient and friendly. Will definitely be going back!
I LOVE the tofu soup it is so delicious, and I order it every time I come here. Especially perfect for a cold day. The portion sizes are great, and the food is always tasty. The dessert is also the best. This place has become one of my favorite restaurants! The atmosphere is very quiet and cozy.
Customer service is great but their red curry is not! Haven’t tried their other food items though
Great food and fair prices. Family owed and operated. Will be back.
To give a Thai restaurant a 5 star grade depends highly on how delicious the Tom Kha soup is. At Kinnaree, they did not disappoint me! I enjoyed the mango chicken rice dish, too; that was different, and I highly recommend it. Speedy service, nice working staff, and the restaurant is small, but perfect if you're alone or on a date.
Yummy duck soup. Dumplings were cool.
Very nice food and a reasonable price

Best thai food in Chicago, hands down
You can taste the love
Exceptionally fresh and tasty food. The best Tom Kha we ever had. Became our go to place for lunch. Never disappointed!
We ordered panang curry with vegetables, pad sew with chicken, and the fresh rolls (ie spring rolls). All delicious. We'll be back to try other items on the menu.
Got this for a group of coworkers and probably the worst experience as the store was not even open on time. The soup is very watered down and did not have good flavor. Also got the curry and the potatoes were not even fully cooked. Turkey disappointed with this meal and unlikely to go there again.
Loved this little spot, can't wait to come back and explore more of their menu. Excellent Tom Yum
Wasn't going to leave a bad review because the restaurant refunded immediately when i called, but the continued developments warrant it now. As we were digging into our fried rice delivery (that was ~20 mins late), I bite into a nice piece of steel wool (apparently from washing the wok) mixed into my rice. Call the restaurant, they refend us (w/ suspicious ability to immediately identify the source of the mystery metal in my meal), think it's resolved. Proceed to continue eating the fried rice warily, to be met with actual HUGE eggshell piece.l in the rice as well. Officially throwing the rest of the order out now.
Ordered my favorite Thai dishes to be delivered. Not sure I can finish it. Too many odd tastes, Perhaps the ingredients aren't fresh. Even if that's not the case, the preparation and quality is very low. Recommend against.
The food was really disappointing compared some other Thai places we've had. The curry was super watery and bland. The chicken was dry and bland. The papaya Salad was not fresh and not spicy at all. The pad see ew was dry and bland as well.
Everything was bland and tasted like it was missing something
The Beef Stew Noodle Soup is incredibly flavorful in broth, great noodles, good beef. It felt hearty and loved it a ton.
Always delicious. I normally order to go but the location is also cute.
Great lunch special!!!
Such a super cozy and relaxing place! Amazing food, friendly staff, and great atmosphere!! I come back here every other weekend with my friends and it's a great place to relax and unwind over food!
Love this place, always great
Wonderful service and the food is delicious. Will be back again.
Wonderful Thai food that can be made gluten free upon request. A few items we haven’t seen elsewhere in chicagoland, so we will definitely be going back to try some more.
The red curry was great and the prices are very reasonable. I am so glad I have found a good Thai place nearby!
absolutely fantastic thai food, so tasty :)
Super average. Not bad, not great… dont try the dumplings
This is our second time here. The food is delicious, portions decent and price reasonable. Service is polite but not too warm and friendly.
Ambiance and decor could be better.
Great food and service!
Their pad thai tastes absolutely amazing and all their ingredients are very fresh! The spring rolls were also fried to perfection
Great atmosphere, friendly serve, and amazing food!!! Loved it!!!
Ordered at 655…told 730 for pickup. It's 750 and nothing is happening. No other pickups...no one sitting in the restaurant...just me waiting for food. Either have a system or don't quote a time.
Kinnaree is my favorite restaurant! Everything is delicious and fresh. The veggies are always perfectly crunchy, and the proteins are tender and well seasoned. The family who runs it is so kind, and I love bringing people there for their first time. Last night we had mango chicken, bamee noodles, and basil fried rice with veggies. None of us could pick a favorite dish!
The food is fresh and amazing!
Always great tasting food! Every time we enter there, customers leaving the restaurant say how wonderful the food is there as well!
Came here with my friend after having two negative experiences looking for vegan food, and this place was awesome. We had the restaurant to ourselves, they gave us bottled water, and the food was tasty! The chive dumplings were awesome as well as the mango tofu dish. Would come here again!
I hate to write negative reviews. I am a fan of people running their businesses and doing the best they can. I root for them! However, when something doesn’t taste right it is what it is. My wife got free dinner on her company. We wanted Thai and decided to try a new place. This was the highest rated Thai restaurant in my area. The gentleman at the front desk, who took our order, was VERY nice. He listened, took notes, gave advice and put in our order in, telling us it would be 30 minutes for pick-up. We ordered Shumai Dumplings, with Fresh Rolls, Pad Thai noodles with shrimp and Basil with shrimp.
Shumai was good but it was given with the orange duck sauce, which in our household is a red flag, maybe not so much for everyone else. The fresh rolls were also good, however instead of the usual thick peanut sauce we got some other dipping sauce. Still not bad at all… it was the main dishes. The Pad Thai was overwhelmingly sweet. It’s traditionally a sweet dish but this was too much! The Basil Shrimp was also fairly underwhelming with spice and flavor.
I am always willing to give an establishment a second chance that gave us good customer service, but maybe order something different next time.
Everything was delicious! I can’t wait to try more. 🔥
Went on a date with girlfriend and just had to say we loved their service, so kind, caring and professional. The food was 10/10 and can tell time and love is put into it. We loved everything. Thank you!
Why is Thai food so bad in this city? After a long search, finally found the best Thai food in Chicago.
Had a Ton Kha soup that was delicious, the spicy catfish dish that was fairly spicy and the deep fry crust on the fish stayed crunchy throughout, and a masaman curry was very good.
Cute place, family owned.
Their spicy catfish dish was AMAZING. It’s the best I’ve ever had! Chicago is not a good city for great Thai food but this restaurant is definitely an exception. From good service to the food, I would 10/10 recommend this place to everyone.
The Foods Have Flavors That Are Fantastic... Must Try!
Great affordable Thai Spot! The dumplings were delicious as was the Pad Thai!
We ordered a spread of 7 different dishes and every one was phenomenal. Easily the best Thai food I've ever had!
So so happy with this Thai restaurant! The other reviewers aren’t kidding…. BEST THAI FOOD in Chicagoland! Chive dumplings steamed (WOW) Penang Curry is incredible…. DON’T MISS THE MANGO STICKY RICE!!!! Thank you for being open until 10pm on a Tuesday!!!!
Best Thai food in Chicago!! Absolutely amazing! You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Such a hidden gem! Must try papaya salad, chive dumplings, curries, mango sticky rice, and basically EVERYTHING!!!
Delicioso !!!
Best Thai food in Chicago hands down. Please do yourself a favor and order the chive dumplings. They are like heaven and melt in your mouth. Their pad Thai is the best in the city. Their vegetable rolls in rice paper are delicious. Love the pad see ew also but the pad Thai is truly exceptional if you can only order one. Good, clean, healthy food that caters well to vegetarians.
The BEST Thai food in Lincoln Park, no one else compares. Always consistent and professional.
Amazing. Gave us free veggie rolls. In love. Will be back.
The best Thai food in city hands down! A place that delivers on quality and quantity as well as a warm, welcoming atmosphere to enjoy your meal. I’m sad I haven’t been able to dine in for over a year now, but am very much looking forward to when I can again.
absolutely amazing!!!!
WOW!!!!! This place is amazing! The vegetable mix in their curry goes hard. Great price. Big portions. Flavorful. Discount off my first order direct through their website... I’m an instant regular. Would give them more stars if I could. Only thing I wish they had on the menu is pumpkin curry (not a complaint, though).
And worth noting: many Thai places bring that hot hot heat, even if you order “medium spicy”; this joint kind of actually has a normal spice scale—keep that in mind when specifying.
Thank you Kinnaree ♡
Great food. When they say spicy it is spicy do not underestimate. The down side was it’s was little bit too oily and they could add more veggies and chicken.
My FAVORITE Thai food spot in the entire Lincoln Park area. I've tried a range of items here and they're always consistent, delicious, and spot on authentic! Another plus are the portion sizes - I truly feel that my buck goes a long way with the flavor and size.
I'm a huge fan of the panang and green curry with chicken. Packed with a healthy amount of vegetables & protein. My partner and I also enjoy their beef pad see ew, chicken satay, coconut soup and pad thai. We always receive extremely friendly service - and lately, super yummy, crispy eggrolls on the house! We were surprised to find these little treats and will find ourselves ordering more from this amazing spot in the future.
Food amazing!! Close to wicker and logan!
This place absolutely slaps. Would be my go to Thai spot living in this neighborhood.
Delicious Thai, very fresh and lean. Amazing customer service.
The food and staff were great, it's a really nice and calm atmosphere inside, really nice place to unwind after a long day, or have a nice date with your significant other!
Excellent food, service, an staff. This place is so intimate an personal. First date kind of place that would be a start to a wonderful relationship kind of place. I'll be back.
The food is incredible, the panang curry is insanely good. And the service is great.
Fast service
Crab ragoons were bomb
Charming and cozy Thai restaurant. Yellow Curry and Pad Thai were delicious. Loved the mangoes and melon served after our meal. Our tourist from CA gave his noodle dish a thumbs-up.
Had pad Thai which was the best I've had ever!
There were multiple hairs in my food. Very grossed out. Will never order from them again.
Had a fantastic experience here with my son. The food arrived fast and the service is just excellent. Prices are affordable.
Family run business that offers Thai food. The dishes I tried were all good. It was quiet for a Friday night but saw a lot of deliveries being taken out
Good for small groups as well as large.
Awesome!
Cute mom and pop restaurant with delicious Thai food!
Delicious Thai food for great prices! The staff is also incredibly welcoming
Delicious Thai food. Highly recommend it!
Great pad Thai and loved the yelp check-in discount!
This place is a gem. The service was very amicable. The cooking was amazing, you can tell that everything is made in house. The peanut sauce, curry and broth were all made and the flavours improves because of that. Massaman curry was amazingly sweet and light. The beef noodle soup was amazing, noodles cooked perfectly and the meatballs were perfectly made. Will be coming again.
I get the yellow curry and tofu soup every time-best Thai food I've ever had!
Delicious! Great prices! Good service & a cozy feeling. Definitely a must stop!
THE BEST THAI FOOD IN THE CITY. And the burbs. Hands down.
I have insatiable cravings for Thai at least twice a week. For almost the entire 2 years that I have lived in the area, I try a different restaurant every time, searching for that perfectly tangy and savory Pad Thai/Tom kha/etc.
No place ever truly hit the spot until my friend and I stumbled upon Kinnaree. I happily drive 30 miles from the suburbs to eat here, any chance I get.
Keep doing what you do!! The service is also excellent. So happy I found this place.
Excellent dishes
Been to Thailand many times and this is better than most places in Thailand you can't beat it ..In my opinion the best Thai food in Chicago.
I like it.
Some of the best curry I've ever had.
Very good Thai food ever,we went to our party and the owner of Kinnaree Thai was taking care of us nice and friendly, and reasonable price, thanks again.
Yummy
Great food. Great prices. Awesome atmosphere!!! I highly recommend trying this place out!!!!!
Great service, great prices, melon at the end of the meal. The spicy beef wide noodles are terrific. Rangoons made from scratch, light and crispy with a great fill.
Fantastic curry and noodle dishes. Finished off with a complementary melon bowl. Awesome place!
Had a great tom yum soup and pad thai. Comfortable place and definitely satisfies a Thai fix.
I really love this place. The food is amazing with a vegetarian friendly menu. The atmosphere is very warm, cozy, and comfortable. I come here often and receive great customer service every time. This is the perfect place to go for quality Thai food and a good time.
The food is wonderful, I was blown away with each bite. I have eaten most of the items on the menu, each dish never ceases to impress me. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with Thai music playing softly in the back. I will definitely be returning here for more!
great fried rice
It's such a cozy place! and I love the food!
Vegetarian Lover!!!!!
Small clean restaurant. I did not dine in, but did carryout.. I had ordered Tofu pad see wu with veggies and basil... Loved the flavors.. The only issue, portion was small. I had more veggies than noodles... I still will definitely order again.
Always good food beef noodle soup is so good
Very happy with the quality and price. Would order again in a heartbeat!
Amazing food, have tried most items on menu and always pleased! Also great company of the owner!!
