So, we went with his recommendations. We ordered some apps and drinks, before our entrees. Ben made the most delicious drinks! I wanted to try some of the hand-crafted cocktails on the menu and he nailed every one! We ordered a cheese roll, La Moon wings, Crab fried rice, and the Ginger Fish. *Mind blown* the food was SOOO good!! Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Ben’s recommendations did not disappoint!

Loved La Moon! A great spot in the Virginia Highland neighborhood, and made the perfect lunch spot on a cold day. We enjoyed the Gyoza, Garlic Green Beans (our fav!), Shaken Beef, and Thai Basil Chicken. Atmosphere is warm and inviting and service was nice and attentive.

My friend and I arrived at the restaurant around 8:15-8:30 pm on Friday night. We were informed that the restaurant was short-staffed, so we should expect a bit of a wait. Despite that, every staff member we encountered was incredibly friendly, polite, and offered great recommendations.

We waited about five minutes before our server came by to take our drink and appetizer orders. Everything arrived quickly, fresh, and hot! The main entrees were absolutely delicious, and we loved the cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. The staff really went above and beyond, making our experience enjoyable.

For all the food we had, the prices were great—our total bill for two came out to about $80. We’ll definitely be coming back!

I had dinner with my daughter on Christmas Eve, the service was very polite and delightful! Definitely recommend for anyone. I had the shrimp clay pot and my daughter had fried rice. Our server was Devin and he was very nice and amazing!

Finding nearby free street parking was surprisingly easy for a Saturday afternoon in VaHi. The huge garage style window was open and the people watching were great. The dumplings were amazing, and our entrees (shaken beef and coconut shrimp) were perfect. The food was very flavorful. It wasn’t as spicy as I typically prefer, but the intense flavors made up for it — and I bet they would have had no problem making me cry if I had asked. 😏

We went before a show at Horizon Theater in L5P so timing was a concern - but they got us in and out in 90 minutes on a busy Saturday afternoon.

Highly recommended. My mother lives 80 miles away and she already plans on coming back down just to go there for dinner.

Prices are much lower than average for VaHi, and portions won’t leave you hungry.

I like this place a whole lot; it’s the first restaurant I stopped by after a long flight from Los Angeles. The manager and staff are kind, attentive, and friendly. Their food was so good. We ordered sashimi, calamari, Pad Thai, and the best shrimp noodle cooked in the clay pot is out of this world. The décor is nice in and outside; the manager said the paintings of the temples were hand-painted. They also have nice seating on the back patio; maybe we sit there when it's cooler next time.

Came to Mai’s new concept La moon which seems to be an Asian fusion now. The vibes were great with jazz and the interior design is well put together . Cute restaurant. However, if you are looking for AUTHENTIC, REAL Thai food, do not come here. We were told that the owners (who are Thai) had to 'cut back' on the flavors and seasonings due to their community. The gyozas were decent. We also ordered the Beef salad, Thom Yum, and Drunken noodles. For these, the flavor was off and the food was very salty overall. The waitress we had was kind. The Thom Yum was missing the lemongrass flavor, and when we asked for more of the soup mix, we were given a chili oil. The Drunken noodles tasted like lo mein from your regular Chinese restaurant, and used thin spaghetti type noodles. We were hoping to have great Thai food and experience, but was left disappointed.

The food was so good! I’m mad they didn’t have bok Choy but the garlic string beans whew! 10 outta 10. The chicken gyoza was great and the shaking beef?! They give you lime , salt and pepper to mix. I love lime I use it everyday so I got two! I’m going back today 😂

Elevated food and atmosphere. Inside it felt more like a Vietnamese restaurant you'd find in Singapore than in Vietnam. The Pho might seem like a boring choice when looking at the full menu, but Get The Pho at least once. The broth is homemade and perfect.

Everything, I mean everything is so good here. This Vietnamese restaurant is definitely one of a kind. The chef here did a splendid job with Vietnamese style wings. The lemongrass King oyster mushrooms, and the garlic noodles with beef. Mad shout out to our waitress Kathy who took very good care of us. We will be coming back soon!

This was my 1st time at a Vietnamese restaurant and the 1st time having Pho....what have I been waiting for!? I loved the restaurant and the Pho was absolutely delicious! My friend had the shaken salmon and said it was great, also. Our server, Aubrhi, was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

I had the Mang-Tee I believe cocktail, not spicy. Vietnamese chicken wings, and egg fried rice to go. The atmosphere, food, and service were amazing. I'll definitely be back to try the Salmon entree.

Delicious food, everything we had was amazing. We sat out on the patio in the back and it was adorable. Food was so good that my 2 year started dancing in his seat.

I came here a Friday afternoon and traffic busy but parking was not hard to find. I parked on the residential street and walked one block to the venue. I know there is parking for the shops and restaurants that were closer but I took the first spot I saw.

I did like that the restrooms were gender neutral. Both were single stall so it makes it easier to pull off but I know this means a great deal to many people.

The inside of the bar has soft lighting and simple decor. The bar upfront is a nice touch. The tables on the inside are ideal for dates but can easily be put together for larger parties.

The outdoor patio is a sight to behold. The outdoor patio can be enclosed in plastic for bad weather. The patio has plenty of plants. The outdoor patio seems to be set up for larger parties. This makes sense since large parties can be pretty loud and having them outside will not bother the inside guests.

The first thing I ordered was the Egg Noodles with Chicken and Beef. It is a very tasty meal and quite filling. I was pleasantly surprised by all the vegetables that put in the dish.

The Owner (David) is a good guy. He stopped by to make sure I was enjoying myself and liked the food. I asked him for recommendations and he mentioned the Salt Pepper Wings. Staff is really nice as well. The waitress ordered me some hot sauce on the side and that cup of sauce is packed with heat and flavor. I even poured some sauce on the noodles.

Everything tasted great. I want to return when they have live music.

Nothing bad to say at all about this place! Food was great the atmosphere was nice and service was top notch. Something to note they have a 3% service charge if you use anything other than cash and classic Virginia Highlands, parking was very hard to find .

Everything was very good!!! Seated quickly, GREAT servers! Ordered spring rolls, Pho, Fried Rice, and a noodle dish. But almost $100 for a relatively light lunch for 3? That was not great!!

A superb Vietnamese restaurant in Va-Hi. The young staff was very nice, as they as the chef. I had Salt and Pepper Shrimp on salad greens. Excellent.

Kitchen closes at 8:30 pm on a sunday, advised who I’m was assuming the bartender they can update this on google so customers will know, she mentioned she only works here, so I’ll assume this issue is going to continue moving forward. While waiting 2 other set of customer went in to come back out. Additionally, the Restaurant signs with opening and closing times at the front contradict each other, and are apparently both wrong (see pictures below). Didn’t eat here 1 star is for bad customer experience (multiple customers) and management missing this time discrepancy.

Best pho in town !!!

We just came from here for a late lunch and just like the last time we were here the service is just HORRIBLE!! We ordered a drink and spring rolls to start and sat there for 45 mins and only got water! So we ended up leaving with nothing. We won’t be wasting our time here again.

Amazing. A gem! We got the shaken beef, chicken coconut curry, oyster mushrooms and pepper wings. Everything was exceptional. Drinks were also great. Great for dates but also for a more chill evening dinner. Will be back for sure. Bravo!

I came to Mai Kitchen on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. To start off the service was pretty good. I believe her name was Lexi, was very nice. It was only my table and another while we were there. We order some drinks upon entering, Vietnamese iced coffee and the expresso martini. I believe the iced coffee may have been the highlight of the meal for me. It was delicious. Also the martini was pretty good. To start We ordered a couple of the small plates and word of caution they are definitely SMALL. We ordered the highland hot wings for $14. I ordered them based off the picture on their website which shows a small plate of around 10 wings. Which $14 for 10 wings is reasonable. I received 5 very small wings. Very misleading practice to show one thing on your website and serve another. I would definitely stay away from any of the wing small plates at that price point. The second was the crispy imperial rolls. Again looks nothing like what they have on their website and also overpriced at $14 for the portion. They were very tough to chew and very bland. We'll just say bland was the theme for this lunch outside of the wings. Next was the special fried rice. Very bland. It was screaming for some salt or just anything to give it some flavor. I ended up adding salt and pepper and that made it a little more palatable. Price point was on par for the portion of this dish. We also ordered the Pho Dac Biet Soup. This dish was actually pretty good and had a nice flavor but the garnish we received on the side (bean sprouts, jalapeno, etc) was frozen. Price point was on par for the portion size of this dish as well. All in all service was good. Food Price point to portion size definitely needs some adjustment if customer is going to receive something different than was is pictured on the website. And I would definitely add a little more seasoning to a few of the dishes. I also ordered a bottle of sparkling water. Just a word of caution it's $8 for the smaller bottle. Not the large one most restaurants serve for the same price point.

Every dish was delicious. My wife was very happy. The baked lobster dish was special. We sat on the back patio.

Inviting interior and great service. Server was very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend the Gai Ga (Salad) appetizer which was flavorful as well as the shaken yellow tuna main dish. I was disappointed in the Imperial Roll appetizer. The meat roll itself was bland and the portion quite small. The accompanying sauce, however, offered some flavor.

Loved the vibe here. The tempura matcha cheesecake was amazing. Wasn’t busy when I went (around 430 pm). Imperial rolls were yummy but very small portion. The fried shrimp was pretty filling. Very attentive and kind service.

Mai Kitchen is one of our new favorite restaurants!! We have been here twice now and loved it both times. The Vietnamese chicken wings are incredible, as is the chicken fried rice and lemongrass tofu (got this based on our server’s recommendation and it did not disappoint!) The ambiance is super charming and the staff is amazing! We have also tried about a third of their cocktail menu and truly all of them are delicious. The restaurant does get busy on fridays and the weekends but it is well worth the wait!

I don't know if we came on an off day since I see all these 5 star reviews, but our experience was not great. Arrived at 6:40pm on Friday, was seated right away on the patio which is above a parking lot with dumpsters so every so often you could smell faint wafts of trash.

The wait for food was too long. 30 mins into the wait, after a couple that came after us already got their food, the staff told us they needed to use different noodles for one of our dishes. 45 mins after we had ordered the food finally arrived.

The food: seafood birds nest was alright (but with unanticipated random bursts of spicy) and the calamari was great! The curry was terribly bland - lacked salt and any flavor other than lemongrass.

Our check was mixed up and the kitchen generally seemed disorganized and understaffed. They seemed to be short on ingredients and more than one menu item was missing.

I ordered from DoorDash and perhaps the food is better actually dining in but it’s questionable. For starters, for those that may be uncultured, but pho broth should not be greasy!!!! My broth was nothing but grease, flavor wasn’t that great and they placed my meat into the plastic container instead of on the side like most pho places. I also ordered wings, which were ok in flavor, overpowered by sauces used but you couldn’t really taste the flavor. Again this place may be good for those looking for mediocre flavors
