I came here for dinner with a group of friends based on all the recommendations and we really enjoyed it! The place is unassuning on the outside, and basic but cute on the inside. Service was decently fast and everyone was friendly. The egg rolls were delicious and super crispy on the outside. My boyfriend and I both ordered sushi and, wow, the presentation was just gorgeous! It wasn’t the BEST sushi I have ever eaten, but it certainly satisfied the craving and was still delicious. We got the sweet potato, sexy vegan, and spicy tuna rolls.

We were initially guilted about not wanting to sit at the bar which has never happened to us elsewhere. We just ordered sushi and it took over a half hour. The quality is what I usually find in the desert. Low quality, striations in the fish, and tasted old for florida. The sauce on top of my three dummies added 0 flavor to the roll. To boot, we just had a terrible waitress. Forgot everything, intentionally avoided us during long waits, could not be flagged down. A rough experience overall. Will not be back

They have a great white board waiting list system right outside their door, with chairs so the inside does not get crowded… as the crowds are very heavy here. We waited about 15 min for a table for two. We stuck with the sushi menu and went a little crazy ordering as everything looked incredible. They also give you a marker and you can write on the menu which items you like. The quality is excellent. We truly enjoyed our experience here. I highly recommend it!

Dining at The Star Thai Sushi in Venice this past Friday was an unforgettable experience. Despite the bustling crowd due to Good Friday, the restaurant managed to deliver exceptional service. The dinner presentation was simply stunning, almost too beautiful to devour, but the freshness and flavor were irresistible. Breaking away from our usual sushi routine, we ventured into new territory with the Crazy Roll, Venice Roll, and an old favorite, the Bucc-n-Roll. We also indulged in some fresh scallop, hamachi, white tuna, and mackerel sashimi, all of which were incredibly fresh and delicious. However, the Crazy Roll's perfect level of spiciness and the exquisite taste of the Venice Roll, along with its beauty, truly stood out. The evening was complemented by delightful drinks including sangria and wine, followed by soothing green tea. Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, champagne and a delectable dessert arrived. The fried cheesecake paired with Thai donuts was an indulgent treat, leaving us thoroughly satisfied. I've had the pleasure of dining at Star Thai Sushi in Venice on numerous occasions over the past two years, and I must say, the restaurant has truly upped its game. The changes in their cuisine, presentation, and service are unmistakable.

One consistent highlight has been the freshness of their dishes. However, during my recent visit, I was pleasantly surprised by a significant upgrade in their presentation.
The food wasn't just delectable; it was also artfully presented . This attention to detail extended beyond my table and seemed to be the standard throughout the bustling restaurant.

What trulv impressed me was the exceptional service. Star Thai Sushi has come a long way from my initial visit, which didn't leave a strong impression. In fact, on my second visit, I didn't even recall having been there before.
But this recent experience had me exclaiming "wow!" The staff was attentive, well-informed, and added to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.

In summary, the food at Sta Thai Sushi in Venice has consistently been fresh, but the notable enhancements in presentation and service are excellent. If you've been hesitant to return, I highly recommend giving it another shot. Prepare for a delightful and beautifully presented meal, accompanied by attentive service that will undoubtedly leave you impressed.

I must tell you just how picky I am with the food I eat so the following review will help give you an insight as to just how good the service and food was at Star Thai & Sushi. It was my wife and I's first time dining here. Our server was Jacob. He was very kind and attentive to our needs and excellent at doing his job as a server. As appetizers, we had edamame and crab rangoons, which were both great, especially the crab rangoons. My wife had a volcano lava roll, and the presentation was phenomenal. The fish was fresh, and the dish tasted amazing. I had my choice of nigiri, which were 4 eel nigiri, 4 tuna nigiri, and 4 salmon nigiri with eel sauce to complement the dish. I found the fish to be delicious and fresh as if it were just caught. For desert, we had mango sticky rice and thai donuts. They were delicious! We will be returning for our next date night soon. Thank you very much for the impeccable service, Jacob! < give him a raise!

My husband and I have visited many restraunts and very rarely will the word delicious, wow, and that is so good come out of our mouths......man oh man everything was just so good! We had crab ragoons best we've had! The sangria was wonderful. I had the Volcano Lava Roll and just wow!! My husband had his favorite Nigiri , salmon, tuna, and eel. He was a really happy camper. We had date night for the first time in a looooong time and we chose the right place. I also love how our waiter Jacob was, polite, personable, fast, and friendly. We really loved his whole demeanor and that made everything even more enjoyable.

Sushi is awesome

Delicious fresh ingredients. attentive to detail great varied menu.

As an Australian chinese living in Venice, I often struggle find asian food I really like—too often, places use the wrong ingredients or fall short in execution. This place is a welcome exception.

The dishes here are prepared properly, with attention to detail and authentic ingredients, which is something you rarely see in Florida. The flavors are clean, balanced, and true to their origins, whether it’s a comforting Thai curry or well-made sushi or fried rice with enough 'wok hei'. It’s refreshing to find a place that respects both the cuisine and the craft.

If you're craving solid Thai or Japanese food done right, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Superb! We spent a month in Thailand last January. We haven’t had good Thai in a year. The chicken green curry tasted just like I had in country. Absolutely delicious! I will make this a regular stop next time I’m in the area. My husband had panang curry and he said the same about his dish.

Sashimi was very good, and fresh. Miso soup was perfect (not too watery and not too concentrated). We had another spot we usually go to regularly but we were recently served infected fish so we are looking for a new place. I think we found it!

Ordered a $100+ plate for part of 4-5 or whatever they advertise for. The rolls were very lackluster. Wish I had just bought a LA carte sushi rolls. It would have been cheaper, would have had better sushi / sashimi.

We were in from out of town in between hurricane Helene and Milton. One of the fellas in our party wanted Thai food!! Perfection! I am 64 years old and have ate plenty of Thai food. This is the absolute best I've ever experienced. We were even a late arrival. BEST service and fast food!

Note FOR the manager: Yes the women with glasses that pretends to be nice that is normally in charge looking over the servers. Their is no reason to put on an act, it just makes you look silly. Most people can see, you are not a happy person. If you are putting on an act, I would try to be like the others, you are the only one that seems off. You come off rude and fake unfortunately, I assume most people see this but never confront you. Hope this can be a learning opportunity for you and can be constructive.

So pleasantly surprised by this place. We ordered the Drunken Noodles, Basil Fried Rice and Fresh Rolls. They all weee exceptional. I ended up coming back twice in the week I was here. I would highly recommend this place for Thai food.

So I should preface this review by saying I've had both sushi and Thai food across the country. Even in Michelin star sushi restraunts with $100+ per person prices I am yet to find better sushi. The atmosphere is inviting and modern, leaving nothing to be desired. The sushi is immaculate, perfectly seasoned with high quality fish and inventive rolls. The Thai food as well is fantastic. One of my favorite restraunts.

Disappointed with the duck salad. Small portion for a main dish. Shredded/sliced duck meat was dry. Salad base was iceberg lettuce. The menu photo does not resemble what you get at all.

This is absolutely amazing… the food is fresh, the service is amazing, and I even like the wine selection. Get the Mexican roll and the egg rolls. Also the pad tai and the curry are amazing!! Mike the Chef continues to make this my favorite spot!

I purchased green curry chicken on this visit. It was the best food I've had in months. So very delicious.

The food is fresh. It is really tasty. The service is great. The servers are quite attentive. good food and good service....you can't go wrong.

This place is AMAZING! I went to order food to-go and sat at the sushi bar for a glass of wine. I ordered Pad see ew, curry puffs, sushi, and Tom kha soup. It was seriously the best Pad see ew and Tom Kha soup I've had since moving here. The sushi was delicious too, and so was the appetizer. I forgot to take pics before devouring almost ALL of that by myself. The dining room was small and VERY busy-for good reason! So good! Will probably order from here once a week now!

This was our first time eating dinner here. The hostess/owner assistant was incredibly rude and the sushi was average at best. I would look around there are better options in the area.

Didn’t even get in the door. Waited outside for 15 minutes before being informed we had to “sign in” the. Waited another :30 minutes to have a large party seated before us after they had arrived :20 minutes after we did. Disappointed.

There is always a long line outside, but they move people in and out so fast because they get to your table right away and your food gets to your table right away. It is so fresh and so delicious that the only negative thing I have to say is the sauce that they serve with the gyoza and the soy sauce on the table is horrific. I deducted one star for this. I don't understand it, but it's like somebody took a jar and filled it with seawater. Salty salty salty beyond salty, and I like salt.

This could happen to you, if I could give zero stars I would. Sat down, six party table, placed our order, appetizers arrived and one entree. We watched a fleet of boat sushi leave the harbor and enjoyed watching everyone else’s ship come in. An hour and a half later, two people got their entrees, while the remaining three people drooled. After asking, the rest got their food. The tide came in before we got refills on our drinks. At 3am one lucky member of our party was revisited by the ghost of dinner. I wish we had photos…

We order here almost every weekend for work. Definitely my favorite thing about working weekends is getting to eat here.

Small and quaint. Very tradional and wonderful hospitality. Sat at sushi counter and asked chef to create what ever he wanted. Best flavor experience. Will be back again and again.

Ahi Tuna appetizer was all dried out and over cooked. The Dragon roll was not fresh. I called and spoke to Cindy the manager and she was totally unprofessional and passed me to the waiter.

I love Star Thai & Sushi! I don't like sushi, but what they serve here is art. The presentation is phenomenal, and the customers that I spoke with were really enjoying the taste. My go-to is the Star Fried Rice. I did not take a picture of it this time as I took it to go, but even then, it was nicely presented in the container. The dish consists of rice, chicken, shrimp, pineapple, and cashews, nicely seasoned with yellow curry. There was enough to share. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back.

I only got take-out and didn't stay for the full experience but the ambiance here was very nice. The gentleman who helped me was quick and friendly. The food was still piping hot when I got home and was delicious. You should try their Phad Thai. Mmmm.

Amazing sushi restaurant. The staff is so friendly and quick to come up to take your order. The food comes out pretty quickly after ordering and of course the quality and taste of the food is AMAZING.
So hooked on their sushi haven’t had the chance to try something else yet but I’ve heard everything else is amazing as well.

The basil stir fry is good, not great. Ordered the sushi which was good, but it was room temp rather than cold. Raw fish should never be room temp. Pn another occasion I had the duck salad- it was good but the duck could have been cooked more

The food is good, the service as well. I was very disappointed with the dessert, I ordered the mango sticky rice and it was not made with sticky rice. It was a mango sweet rice. What makes the mango sticky rice so delicious, is the chewy texture of the sticky rice. Pity! I know now not to order it in this restaurant. But everything else was very good.

Ate here with excellent service and very accommodating for our party with a child. Noodles, hamachi, and sashimi were great - very flavorful. Little gem in Venice.

The food was delicious! My parents had never tried sushi before and they loved it. The service was really great too, everyone was so friendly.

We just had the most wonderful evening celebrating our dear friends birthday. The staff was so accommodating and helpful especially with those who were not familiar with the cuisine. Not only was the food delicious but the presentation was excellent. A big thank you to Chef Mike and his crew for providing an amazing experience.

Pad Thai was gross and inedible. It was dry, smelled like vomit, and the chicken was gamey and tasted off, metallic. There were also no veggies, 3 bean sprouts and 1 slice of red pepper. Not worth the money even if it was edible. I threw away my entire meal 👎

Have never had a bad experience here..wide variety of food choices. You can keep it routine or experiment. Regular stop for us

I’m gonna start by saying that I do not like to leave a negative review, this was just so terrible that I have no choice.

The first time we came to this restaurant, we only had sushi, which was good, but extremely overpriced, I’ve had way better sushi for way less than what I paid for in this place.

This time we wanted to try something else, I’ve ordered seafood salad, a duck soup, and a Tom Yum soup. I can describe that in few words - terrible, unsatisfying, overpriced.

The seafood salad was priced as a main entry, I would say it’s more like a starter before an appetizer. It was tiny.The lettuce was not fresh. There was 3 shrimps and 3 other pieces of seafood.
The duck soup was about 5% duck and 95% of noodle. I will never go back to this place again. Ever. I left hungry, we had to go to a different place to eat and I do not recommend this restaurant.

Thom Kha soup was really good but the tempura shrimp sushi & egg rolls lacked inner content. The egg rolls were mainly dough & very little veggies inside. The sushi had a lot of rice & not enough ingredients inside. They charge extra for eel & yellow sauce. The only sauce for your sushi that's free is soy..

The sushi was phenomenal! The ingredients were fresh and the rolls were spot on. This is one of the best sushi spots in all of Sarasota county.

Recommended by a friend and now I see why- great sushi and the best Tom Yumm soup I ever had. It's a little sweeter and that's why I loved it!

I came with my friend and had the miso soup, egg rolls, beef garlic basil stir fri, and yellow curry. All thr food was amazing the atmosphere was very inviting and the service was fast, friendly, and seemed to genuinely cared about the customer's experience. I will definitely add this to my short list of restaurants I'll visit.

Thai Tea was great! Everything else was the same plate with different toppings. We did not tied the Sushi. But the service discourages us from going back.
