Unfussy, brick-clad venue offering traditional Thai eats such as curries, stir-fries & noodles.
I used to go to this restaurant over a decade ago when it was on South Monroe, and had a buffet, and the food has always been delicious and amazing.
Ever since it moved into this new location, I’ve been wanting to stop by to give it a try and I finally did.
The service was great, the food was amazing and the portion size was awesome!
I ordered vegetable spring rolls which the presentation was beautiful, they had a little bit of a texture inside of them that reminded me of potato that sort of threw it off a little bit for me, and the duck sauce was amazingly delicious, but it was cold and I have a thing with temperatures so that wasn’t exactly my favorite either. But that’s personal preference because I prefer
My duck sauce, warm or room temperature. However, the fact that it is cold tells me that it is made with fresh ingredients and needs to be refrigerated.
The pad Thai was out of this world amazing. The portion size was huge and it was just insanely delicious. I was able to get enough for two meals. Could’ve almost been three meals. Definitely the best pad tie that I have had anywhere in town.
We liked everything. Sea food tom yum soup was delicious, Bahn house salad very fresh and fresh ginger curry was so good! All the veggies are crunchy and perfectly cooked. Our waiter’s name was Book. Such a nice name and such a nice and polite service. Thanks. We will be back.
This restaurant has some of the best flavored crab Rangoons and really flavorful chicken fried rice. It was $22.58. I ate about 1/3 of rice because they gave me so much. Definitely 2 meals for a regular female. I will be getting 3 meals out of this. If you're a man, probably only 1. Nonetheless I was very impressed. Seems like an older restaurant but was very clean. I really enjoyed the food and the waitress and waiter was very nice too.
This is hands down, some of the best Thai food my coworker and I have ever had.
We arrived a bit early for dinner (around 6pm), and were informed it would take quite a long time for food. I had looked at other reviews prior to us going and saw this was the norm, and we had no issue waiting. The food started coming out around 645, but was WELL worth the wait.
We split the spring rolls, I had the tom kha soup and chicken fried rice, and my coworker had the shrimp green curry. Everything tasted extremely fresh, flavorful, and incredible! Seriously the best of everything we have had before! presentation was beyond expectations for them being so short staffed too.
The restaurant was also clean, quiet, and relaxing, and our server was amazing and very transparent about the wait, what to order, etc.
We will 100% be coming back in the future, and highly recommend this place (if you are lucky and can get in before they start turning people away due to capacity)
Food were good in general. We ordered 3 dishes. Two of them were very good. The third was OK to me even though my kids like it. Thai tea drink was very good. Arrived around 8 Friday night. There was only one server. She informed it would be 40 minutes wait for food if we decide to stay. Not in the mood for other type of food, so we stayed. Appetizer came within 20 minutes, and main courses came 10 minutes later. So, it was quicker than expected. I felt bad for the server. She seemed having trouble with walking and had to serve 6 tables with food, drink, take order, and clean up.
Fantastic Tom kha and massaman curry!!
The food was excellent and my server was so attractive🥵. I believe his name was Justin! Definitely will be back for the food and men😍.
Place was amazing and i can’t stand coming now! The food is amazing but the service nothing short of sucks!! If you order drinks they come after 10-15mins or after the food comes, don’t expect a refill on ur drinks and just overall very disappointed with what it’s become. I miss the older guy who would serve he was extremely nice and always on top of things :(
Incredible food, authentic and made fresh from scratch. Drunken Noodles is world-class, get there early for the handmade noodles because they run out! Chicken Wonton soup was delicious and fresh, and if you like spice get the Thai Hot - it’s hot for real!

The food here is not to be missed. I will say that it’s best to not come here if you are ravenous or in a hurry, as it often can take a little while to get your food due to how busy they are and/or staffing issues. That aside, the service and food are both phenomenal enough that I can’t bring myself to give anything less than 5 stars across the board. Beautiful presentation of every plate of food and the staff are very kind and friendly.
This was my second time. A hidden GEM. I promise they have the cleanest, freshest, and tastiest fried rice in Tallahassee. I never had freshly made crab rangoon and they were delicious. They made their food with love and FRESH! Youu can taste it. The food will take longer because of this however it is worth the wait and the wait isn't as bad as it may seem or sound. The crab rangoon, chicken teriyaki, and chicken fried rice is what we had. Since they cook to order and have fresh ingredients I recommend calling prior to see if they are out of whatever you want to order if you are a very picky eater and will not adjust. Other than that, I definitely recommend.
The food was amazing and the 2 servers were awesome! I would highly recommend for anyone! They also had a lot of take out orders so i’m sure that’s good too.
Service was extraordinary slow! I ordered the noodle bowl with chicken what I got was a bowl of chicken broth with few noodles and chicken. $14 for a watered down bowl of chicken noodle soup. What I expected was a bowl of noodles with light sauce and chicken as described in menu. Wish I had taken pictures scooped out what noodles and chicken I could and left the big bowl of chicken broth behind. Yuk!! Won’t be going back
Pad Thai is very good and great service
I just had an excellent dinner at Bahn Thai Restaurant. Specifically - I ordered the mixed vegetables with fried tofu in a Thai sauce. It was so flavorful and the veggies were fresh and plentiful and perfectly cooked. My spouse had eggplant stir fry and was equally as pleased. We are staying at The Tru Hotel, which is across the street, and we were able to walk there in 5 minutes. This restaurant is worth seeking out.🙂
Place still looks like a Village Inn and they haven't done much in the way of remodeling or refurbishing. Booth seats still covered with repair tape. Ordered drinks and asked for Gyoza to start. He brought the drinks and said Gyoza takes 14 minutes, you should have Spring Rolls. So we had spring rolls. Not my favorite thing.
When he brought the food he said to me that I must eat all the food or I would not be allowed to leave. Haha bad joke, not funny. He said this twice more throughout the meal. Still not funny.
Hubby eats fast and I still had a bowl full of food when he brought the check and said that he was going off duty so we need to take care of the bill now. Then he came back with a box for the rice and a bowl for the Curry and told me I could not sleep there. Ok well we were planning to have dessert but now we're being told to leave before finishing our meal.
So can I have ice tea to go?
"We don't do to go." (note my disappointment). "But I will find something."
And eventually comes out with the 16 oz styrofoam cup. So where did he get the cup if they "don't do to go"?
In the meantime a family had come in, mom with boy and girl probably 8 - 10. Before they even sat down he was joking with the kids do you have money? If you don't have money you can't eat. Hahaha. Unfortunately every time he walked through the dining area he had to stop by their table and repeat that. Like six times, I mean that's a bit overboard and kind of creepy.
Authentic Thai restaurant. Taste of Thailand here in Tallahassee. Food came out quickly and it was very enjoyable.
It's a great, inexpensive place to eat with outstanding food.
Waited 10 minutes to get our waters after placing order. Out of multiple items (3-4) on menu and this was Friday @ 7pm. Never got waters. Walked out with zero confidence in establishment.
the food was very tasty. service was good. it just needs to be updated a bit. I wouldn't hesitate recommend it
Food is awesome if you can wait 60 minutes and no hurry to help
The food is amazing. I don’t give good reviews often. The wait is horrible but the food is well worth it. The line should be out the door. The best Thai I have had since I was in Thailand.
Fresh and flavorful. Family owned with wife and husband cooking. Big wait but worth it. Few servers and slow but best Thai food in town.
Food was so good need more restaurant like this...
Shrimp definitely overcooked. But the flavors were pretty good on most of what we tried.
I was disappointed when my order finally made it home. The wait time was very long and the prices high So I was expecting quality deliciousness. I ordered the panang curry, the texture was like water, thinner than the Tom Kah soup. Spring rolls were burnt. The panang was so thin not like a curry at all which was sad the shrimp was over cooked and very tough to chew. Rice was harder than usual as well. Crab Rangoon was good
Nothing I ordered off the menu was available. Finally settled on a salmon dish. That would take 45 minutes. The appetizer we ordered first never arrived and when we asked that would take 45 minutes. The server was very nice and I felt sorry for him.
Always fantastic. My daughter had yellow curry with chicken. I had ginger beef. We both drank Thai iced tea.
For a long time this was the only Thai place in Tally. Went on tons of dates here as well as meet up with friends. This is not the same place. The Thailand home cooking is mostly gone and the cozy air of the old South Monroe location and now feels more like the Village Inn building it lives in.
As hard as it is for me to say this, there are better Thai options in Tallahassee.
Food was hot and fresh. Chicken Pad Thai is super sweet! Not what I expected. I didn't enjoy sweet stir fry.
Awesome diner experience with amazing Thai. A hidden gem for sure, make sure to try the Crab Rangoons, they’re incredible. Service is always friendly and prices are very fair. 5/5
Green curry vegetable. Crab rangoon.
The BEST restaurant, hands down! Authentic, freshly made, and delicious! I don't have many repeat restaurants but this is definitely one of them. I've tried tons of different dishes here. My go-tos are Bangkok chicken, drunken noodles, Panang duck curry, Pad Thai Double Shrimp 🤤 But the Pad Thai is the best I've ever had at any Thai restaurant I've been to. And you have to get the Tom Kha Chicken soup 🥥 The only thing that wasn't delicious was the Summer rolls, I don't recommend. But this hole in the wall Thai restaurant is a must try in Tally!
Used to love this place but it has gone downhill. Extremely rude service. Their Thai spicy is impossibly spicy to the point of being inedible. I have had Thai spicy before but not to the point of actual pain. Avoid.
This place has great food. I had the Mango shrimp salad. Hands down best salad in town. My only criticism is the decor. Still looks like the village inn that used to be there. Needs alittle more Thai ambiance.
Bare takeover of the former Village Inn but inside the cooking is great.
Food warms the soul. Just be patient during busy hours because their team is small.
What a terrible experience! We had loose bowels after eating and they showed indifferent attitude. I’m never coming back!
We ordered five panayang curries what we received was five watered down mediocre curries
We go to many Thai restaurants and this food was one of worst
Only good thing was the portions were large
They were like buttery vegetables and not 5 vegan's curry like we ordered
May be chef was not in a good mood
I would never go here again
The food was awesome!
Came to have a lunch to celebrate a birthday, and this restaurant is closed.
This place may not have any significant connection to the original Monroe Street restaurant by the same name but I would suggest it is even better.
I really like any of the dishes they serve that use the flat noodles. These are not dry from a bag but made fresh on site from a dough. This makes a huge difference with the mouth feel and bite.
I would challenge anyone to find better Drunken Noodles.
I have also tried the Pad See Ew and red curry. Also both great.
Their food is delicious it’s my first time eating thai and everything I tried was uniquely tasty.
Pad Thai was best I’ve had in town
Went for lunch at 2:30pm. We were seated right away. The server was attentive and happily answered all of our questions. We ordered the fried shrimp and mango salad, Penang curry and eggplant with basil. The food arrived within 15 minutes and it was beautifully presented and aromatic. The Penang curry had an amazing coconut broth with floral notes from the kefir lime and lots of fresh vegetables. The eggplant with basil was so flavorful with just the right amount of heat. The salad was so beautiful and fresh. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. The restaurant was clean but nothing fancy. It has a diner look and the outside looks like a Waffle House but the food makes up for that 100 times over.
The best Thai restaurant I have ever had. We go every time we are in Tallahassee.
If you like 5 star Thai food this is the place to try, high quality food for a fair price. The pananag chicken curry thai is 🔥 and make sure tip your servers well.
Some of the best, most flavorful Thai food I've had -- and I've eaten Thai food at fine restaurants in L.A. and N.Y.C. The fresh spring rolls always have avocados at their perfect ripeness. We like the vegan (or close-to-vegan) fried tofu with Garlic Pepper, the Fresh Ginger, and Pad Cashew Nut (with pineapple!); they are packed with flavor and generous amounts of veggies. Masamam curry is wonderful too. We get takeout from Bahn Thai often and are glad to support this locally-owned family business.

Great Thai food prepared fresh!
It’s my first visit to their but it has horrible and rude service. They don’t want to listen what you want and also we just want take out but the person we don’t allow take out . It’s so horrible. Bad experience.
Service was great, very knowledgeable and kind. The food was excellent, fresh made to order. They had 5 groups come in simultaneously on a Friday nigh with very minimal staff so don’t be in a hurry. It was well worth the wait for authentic Thai!
This restaurant is a place everyone needs to try at least once! The menu selection is amazing. Everything tastes fresh. I may warn you that they may sell out of certain dishes or service may take longer than usual. They put much care and effort with all their dishes. My to-go is Krab Rangoon as the appetizer, Chicken Wonton Soup, Thai Iced Tea as my drink, and for my main course I love the Chicken Teriyaki or Garlic Pepper. Bangkok Chicken is also a great dish. Please trust the server’s recommendations as well. Everyone is very kind here.
They didn't have dietary options. Gluten free, lactose, vegetarian.
They desperately need a better website
The food is delicious. I want to give 5 stars, but lately it seems like they don't have a lot of the menu options available. I had to request 3 different options, but ended up settling on an appetizer for my meal, chicken wonton soup, because everything else was unavailable. This was also within the guidelines that they were out of seafood options. This was at 5 p.m. so they were not ready for dinner. The food is so delicious! I cannot stress that enough. The service is slow because there is only one person cooking and we have been turned away before because they were not going to be able to prepare our dinner within 1.5 hours. They said we would be lucky to have an appetizer within an hour. They just need to get their ordering/preparations under control, and help in the kitchen.
Extremely bad attitude and service. Do not care about Mom and young baby.
The food is outstanding! Service is polite, efficient, and helpful. The yellow and green curry dishes were so flavorful and fresh. Portions are very generous.
Excellent!
Has a menu of items, but doesn't allow you to order virtually ANYTHING to go.
Most polite owner I have ever met, remembers the people who visit. He cares about the presentation of everything. Very Kind and respectful.
Food is Fresh and very tasty! They adjusted the spice levels to your preference. Nice presentations.
We didn't expect this authentic Thai cuisine here in Tallahassee!
The staff and chef are Thai so they are really good at making delicious Thai dishes. We went to Thailand many many times so I can tell the quality of our food.
It's a little different but definitely out of expectations
Yummy! This was my first time here, and it won't be my last. I had the Yellow Curry with medium spice, and it was to die for! I wouldn't even say it was spicy, though others told me it was pretty spicy. My friend had the garlic something ( says it's the specialty of Bahn Thai). He loved it, though it was "super spicy," he ordered mild. I did not find it spicy at all. Everything was plated so well that it looked and smelled absolutely amazing.
Ordered Tom Yum with chicken and Yellow curry and it was delicious. The food had an abundance of flavor in every bite. If you are looking for some authentic Thai cuisine this is the place to go.
Best Thai food in Tallahassee.
Highly recommend. Great thai food. We went 2 nights in a row.
Bad only order 3 plate and it took 1 full hours to get the food
Did take out- amazing portions and flavor.
Our food and service was wonderful.
It was as if the original owner was back in the kitchen. Delicious!
The outside looks like it is a small hole in the wall place...but then you step inside. The place has such a nice ambiance, the plates, the doilies, the cloth napkins sitting neatly on the table...then you order.
The Tom Kha is the best I have yet to have. I highly recommend it. We had the chicken spring rolls and while my husband enjoyed the Pad Thai I had the vegetable teriyaki with chicken. Make sure you come hungry or get a to go plate. Excellent food for a reasonable price. We will be going again. Highly recommend
Do not come during the times most people plan to have meals. You will wait for hours for your food. It's worth it if you want decent Thai in Tallahassee but you may be able to drive to Atlanta during the wait time.
My dinner was awesome!
Large portions and delicious food!
I've eaten my share of yellow curry over the years, but I've eaten the best I've ever had here. I regret not coming here sooner. Also, the garlic-based wonton soup was a very pleasant surprise.
Love this place. I usually get the red curry with chicken and Thai tea. My family ordered the pad see-ew and volcano shrimp with crab rangoon. Everything was delicious! The presentation of the food is so beautiful. The staff is always so nice and helpful when I have questions about the menu. The food does take a bit longer to come out, but I have overheard the owner say it's just him and his wife in the back cooking, so that's understandable. It's always worth the wait!
FYI- They do temporarily stop doing takeout when the inside of the restaurant is full. They are short staffed.
And at times some items on the menu aren't available. I'm guessing that may have something to do with staffing too, but I've never asked. Just be ready with a backup option.
It looked empty and closed when we arrived. Staff is limited. Food may take a while but when it comes it does not disappoint. Delicious flavors came bursting out of the dishes and the presentation was stellar. Like fine dining. I highly recommend this restaurant
Amazing food!! I have lived in a major international city for many years and this food is as good as or better than similar spots I’ve been to that charge twice as much. Will definitely be back!
Love this place! The new location is much larger and more accessible. Food is always delicious, fast, and of superior quality!
I mean, if you don't like this place it's because you've never had good Thai food. They nail it every time. I also appreciate that when they are busy they don't do to go orders. It prioritizes the dine in customer. I'll admit I've been burned on this a few times, but all the more reason to go in.
The Crab Rangoon were very good. The Stir-Fry Eggplant Basil was very good. The Bangkok Chicken was good, although it was fried instead being sautéed ( as described on the menu). I would preferred it sautéed if possible. The chicken was a little tough when fried.
I'm so glad that Tallahassee still has a Bahn Thai restaurant. I believe that they were the original Thai restaurant in Tallahassee, and used to be located on South Monroe st.
So, after a several year hiatus, they reemerged on the Appalachee Prkw. From my first experience with the "new" Bahn Thai, I have been nothing but delighted.
The staff is friendly, there's plenty of parking, and the food is excellent, and each order is cooked fresh. If you're in a rush, please be patient. It's worth it. I recommend the Pad Cashew Nut, it's amazing.
So, if you're in the mood for some great Thai food, please check them out. Bahn Thai, a Tallahassee original.
Amazing food and quality service. We went earlier around 4/5 and there was no one there.
I tried several Thai restaurant in Tallahasse but this one is the Best for me. Now my goto Thai place is this one!! Best Fried rice I have ever had. We had Fried rice, green curry, panag curry, crab rangoon on different days. Loved the flavours of each. And the dish presentation... 👌
I would of liked it better if it had rice instead of noodles
I came to give them a try, keep in mind I passed up on other Thai restaurants to try them. Once I was greeted and asked how many people I told the older gentleman behind the counter that I would like to place an order to go. He waved his hand and told me that they’re not doing that right now. I will not be back to give them another chance.
We waited a bit for our meal but if you have the patience, you won't be disappointed. Land and Sea, Seafood Fried Rice, Double Shrimp Pad Thai were just a couple of our experiences. Get there and support them.
The food is fresh and plentiful. Lots if choices!
To be fair, the food is delicious. If you are eating in you are in for a real treat. That said, their carry out options and service are the worst in the city. And I know. I am single and eat out every meal so I have tried nearly every restaurant in Tallahassee. I mostly do carry out. Many of the best items on the menu are not available for carry out. I asked why. I was told they have a limited amount of some dishes and they save those for dine in patrons. What happened to first come first served? Am I not important too? Also, if they have several dine in customers on a given night, they just refuse to do carry out. I can’t see how they can stay in business if they continue this strategy. They certainly have lost me as a take out customer!
Five stars doesn't seem like enough to describe Bahn Thai. The service is exceptional and the food is absolutely incredible. The owner is really nice as well. I can't recommend it enough. This is my favorite Tallahassee restaurant by far.
5 star experience. Food especially, was fresh. They get their vegetables fresh every day and it shows. Owner has an amazing personality and passion for his restaurant. They currently need more staff, and if they were fully staffed, they have potential to serve 2-4x the clientele. I witnessed 5+ groups turned away due to lack of staff. So much potential! Please work here, come here, eat here. (I'm a first time guest from Colorado, not asked to write this)
Best Red Curry I’ve had in Tallahassee and service made you feel like home.
Excellent food and service.
I went to eat here not too long ago and I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. From a Thai restaurant, I was expecting their spice levels to be pretty high, but I ordered Hot and it wasn't spicy. The Pad Thai was also super sweet and felt like I had dessert. I have had a lot of Thai food and this is the sweetest Pad Thai I have ever had. I'd consider changing up the recipe. The portions were really good, I just don't think I would order that Pad Thai again.
Amazing fresh food. There is a wait but it is worth it to wait. Good prices too.
Visit this place July 13.23 last Thursday before 8pm..we came here bcoz ppl gave good reviews and its near where we stayed .. The service was slow.. we order few minutes within when we arrived ..The owner as well as the waiter ..he disrespect my toddler by trying to be funny ticklish her i dont like that. Then the appetizer came out around 25 mnts.. We checked with the Owner a.k.a our waiter where is our food as the restaurant will be close 9pm and the food not come out at 8.40 .
We are the last table there and around 8.30pm a white guy came they make his food came out FIRST and FAST. then thank him for coming as well as asking about his food .
when we asked hi again where is our food for the 2nd time bcause i told hi my little daughter need time to eat her food.. he yelled at us saying that Chicken teriyaki is not ready ok!! i bring out when its done !! .. So disrespectful rather than appologies for the SLOWWW SERVICE he talked back and yelled.
When the food came out its 8.45 and i lost my appetite..after give my daughter food few bites we decided to bring back to the hotel rather then they will yelled at us again for stay there past 9pm.. he also said if you can not finish by 9pm you can stay until 9.15 ok!! NO THANK YOU!!
As i noticed the way the owner talk is respect and nicer to American people only ..thats where ALL of these good Google reviews came from .
why the person came AFTER us GOT his food FIRST !!! SLOW SERVICE AND YELLED BACK IS NOT A GOOD RESTAURANT !! STAY AWAY !!
both appetizer and food came out very slow.. rude owner .after us then came one white guy ..they make his food first. will never come back!!
Our best Thai food experience till date! The restaurant staff is extremely hospitable and gives special attention to your taste and dietary restrictions. The ambience is great with cosy and comfortable booths. The food is amazing and the customized soup was the star ⭐ dish. Special thank you for that. The curries are perfectly spiced and give you a warm tingly feeling after you finish eating it :) The serving portion is perfect for the prices without compromising on taste. Will go again soon without a doubt and highly recommend this restaurant if you want to feel extra happy after a lovely meal.
Friendly owners. Good authentic Thai food for a reasonable price. This restaurant will make my list to frequent.
Nice Thai restaurant with great service
Everything was incredible! Food was very reasonably priced and it was the best meal my boyfriend and I've eaten in a while. One of the hidden gems of Tallahassee for sure.
Very friendly and have great customer services . The Pad Thai was great. Will definitely return
This is legit the best Thai place in town!
Great food. Great service. Affordable. Worth every amazing, taste bud popping bite.
Very old booths in dining area. This was a breakfast dinner prior. We only do take out cause food is pretty good
I can’t not give it 5 stars because the food and service were AMAZING. So what that it is in an old village inn restaurant!
My go-to Thai dish is Red Curry. Bahn Thai Restaurant has a nice curry with beautifully bright vegetables. I like my curry so hot my eyes sweat, but this was my first time at this restaurant, and the server suggested medium. He told me if it wasn't spicy enough, he could bring me extra chili. Medium definitely did not hit it for me. If you like it hot get hot. I added an additional 3 full scoops of chili. I wasn't sweating, but the curry had some heat and a nice flavor.
I also recommend getting the Thai iced tea. You deserve it!
This was a nice gem to find. Food was great. Loved the presentation and the service was great too! Our server was very personable.
The tofu is so good
Bahn Thai is excellent, full stop. They get Thai Hot right, which is rare, and I’ve never eaten anything that I didn’t really like. Spicy Fresh Basil W/Chicken (Thai Hot) is/should be a favorite.
The food was delicious and came out plated beautifully! I had the Pad Thai with chicken and medium hot. All I can say was wow was this good.
Food was delicious. I had the pad sew and my husband had pad Thai. Our friend has chicken teriyaki. It was all beautifully prepared. I also had the thom ka shrimp soup. The building is old and the decor is a bit dated and sparse. Some things are in disrepair. They also were out of most of their appetizers. But all in all it was a good experience and I will come back if I'm in the area
this place is SO good. like, no joke. this place has the best thai food i’ve had in the city and probably ever from what i can last recall. as of the time of this review, the only issue is that they take a LONG time to cook the food, but thats due to them having, i think, only 2 chefs back there who they only trust with the recipes or something like that. everytime i have gone its been an hour long wait and yes, thats pretty long, but oh my god when i eat that food, it is completely worth it every time. please try this place and if you do, what i usually get is drunken noodles with beef and whatever spice level i think i can handle that day, and a thai tea. seriously, 5/5 ⭐️
Excellent taste at a reasonable price. $19.99 for Pat Thai Shrimp with 9 big ones. This will be my best one in Tallahassee.
This place serves quality authentic Thai. Chella was an excellent server as well, don’t come here unless your going to tip her 20%+
Food were good in general.
Outdated. You have a woman answering calls who can’t even understand the numbers of my phone number, I have to repeat it 5 times. And then she tells me I need to give her my credit card information to place an order instead of just paying when I get there? Don’t care if you’ve had issues in the past, I’m a hungry customer looking for convenience, not nonsense. Get with the times or be left in the dust.
Food: 5 stars
Service: "now hiring two servers."
tl;dr: Do order it. Order take out if you want it quick.
We stopped by at the end of a long day with travel. We ordered two Pad Thai Chicken, a Sweet and Sour chicken and the Avocado Spring roll, also Thai iced tea, and the Chicken Gyoza. The food was delicious and please note Thai style spring roll and sweet and sour are very different from the Chinese dishes. The spring roll wrapper is translucent and pliable, and the dish more akin to a wrap than a fried appetizer. Sorry about no pics, I was beat and ate then went to bed.
Unfortunately they only had one server working and she informed us that there would be a long wait time for the foods, something like 45 minutes. This was too long for our travel weary kids, so we converted the order to a pick-up/take out and came back after checking into our hotel. Not the server or the business' fault. They are advertising for two full time server positions.
I do recommend Baan Thai for their delicious dishes. If you want an extended dining experience, go in for sit down service. As I tell my kids: if you have to wait for your food, that means they are making it fresh. If you are interested in a quicker situation, order
My father who was raised partially in Thailand told me that an authentic Thai joint will have a picture of the king in it, as opposed to some ppl of another nationality peddling Thai food. As you can see from my pics, both the current and former kings are given prominent places.
The building has good parking, is located along a main drag, and the structure is a few decades old so it has that cool funky layout. The corner booth is a big circular deal with huge windows so a great view.
If you come here looking for a taste of authentic Thai food you will receive it. I would definitely eat here again.
We had a great dinner here this week! Our server, Ethan, was so incredibly friendly and pleasant the entire way through. We watched him handle all the tables, calls and take out orders with a smile on his face and such genuine care for his patrons. The food was delicious!! Well worth the wait, which was by no means long, but maybe a few minutes longer than any other casual sit down restaurant. Great prices, food and service!
Great food and service! Our waitress was new and she was amazing. Food was wonderful. Six of us and everyone was happy. Thank you and gracias to our wonderful Waitress from Cuba! Good job!!
Great thai food Had yellow curry and pad Thai, both we're excellent. Ordered carry out but looks really nice inside
Yummy green, red, and Panang curries full of fresh mixed vegetables and plenty of sauce. The food from Bahn Thai Restaurant has been consistently fresh and flavorful (and yes, I've been to Thailand). I drive past other Thai restaurants to get to this local Tally gem. Good prices, friendly service, clean dining room, plenty of parking.
This is the best thai place at Tallahassee. The food is really good and the staff are great! Thanks for the service!
This was my first time visiting Bahn Thai, yet it certainly won't be my last. I truly enjoyed the food, and the taste was so delicious. The service was great but wasn't too pleased with receiving the appetizer after the meal. The portions are very generous and worth the price. I will visit again, and recommend you try this place for authentic Thai food.
Overly expensive for Thai but it was good
Lots of people think they’ve closed. Nope! In a new location on Apalachee Parkway, Bhan Thai is still yummy food for a good price.
I give the food (Pad Thai with tofu and medium spice) a real thumbs up. Delicious! The staff were sweet and attentive. I really appreciated them and their attention. My dining partner and I were only disappointed when, 30 minutes after we ordered, the kitchen was finally started our meals. So, it took about 40 minutes to be served. We were hungry!!
The atmosphere was warm and nice. The place was good and clean. The prices were darned good.
Food and service was great just takes a while to get your food but that's expected.
don’t even bother trying to come here to dine in or take out. They will turn you away because they cannot handle operating a restaurant. very sad. this used to be a great place to go.
Delicious chicken pad tai, crab rangoons, and Thai iced tea. Great portion sizes and presentation. Best Thai food in Tallahassee.
Got take out from here on the recommendation of friends who said this place had the best Thai in Tallahassee. We both love Thai but we’re disappointed with our order. The curry, Pad Thai, and summer rolls just weren’t good to me. It’s a nice family owned place but I didn’t enjoy the food as much as other Thai places I’ve been to.
Wonderful food. Panang curry is amazing.
Best Thai food in town. Some of the worst take out service in town. Good luck trying to get someone on the phone to take an order. No online ordering either.
This place really needs to hire more people to take orders and answer the phone.
The food was delicious!!! Our server was the only one working the front of the house on a Friday night and she was doing the best she could and very friendly. We felt so bad for her. Not sure why the restaurant is so big, but under utilized...maybe staffing issues? If you're patient, it's worth the wait.
Best Fried Rice Evvverrr!!
Some of the best Thai around.
The food is outstanding 👍 and the staff is very helpful. The only problem is you can't order to take out but you can get boxes to take home what you can't finish at the restaurant. The Won Ton soup and the spring rolls are fantastic and filling. Great local place to go!!
Best Thai food in Tallahassee. Trust me. If you haven't, try the 4 hour Massaman curry braised beef. It's a hidden treasure and the best item on the menu I've ever had. Chicken panang is always staple and delicious. Avocado spring rolls and chicken gyoza are amazing appetizers 😋. Enjoy!
The building and decor are a bit dated, but the excellent food and service MORE than make up for any minor setting concerns. We think we have found our favorite Tallahassee Thai restaurant!
Excellent food & service!
The food quality was really good - from the Gyoza, to the crab rangoons, to the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. The presentation was great! The interior has a nice, cozy aesthetic and the food will not disappoint. I like food that’s really spicy, and the hot didn’t seem very hot to me - don’t be scared of the Thai Hot based on my meal yesterday!
Everything about this place is so good -- customer service, atmosphere, and flavor! I loved every bit of my experience. The staff were so nice accommodating. The food was hot, fresh, delicious and plated beautifully. It felt like a fine dining experience. Definitely will be back!
Stopped by on a Friday at 6pm for dinner and was told they are not taking orders. No reason was given Why run a restaurant if you are not going to serve customers during your started business hours?
