9 Bangkok Thai and Sushi has one of only 3 “Destination” sushi rolls which I have not seen anywhere else. “The St. Pete Roll” is amazing. Don’t try to bite a piece in half. Put the whole piece in your mouth and let it wash over you. My pics can’t do it justice. I am posting pics of the menu because it’s not available online unless you open a delivery service app.

I was craving Thai while in DTSP. I got out my google maps and looked up Thai by me. Google maps gave me restaurants 20 minutes away and I almost missed this restaurant that was ONE block away!
We started with a delicious soup and opted for a pot to share. I loved the presentation with a lit soup bowl. I got my usual, Panama Curry Chicken with medium spice, it was pretty spicy. My hubs got pad Thai. Both were delicious. The service was great and the restaurant is cute and authentic feeling. They also have a sushi bar.

Bangkok Thai on Central Ave is a full sensory experience. First, let’s address the ambiance—it might smell like Fabuloso when you walk in, but that just means this place is clean enough to eat off the floor (not that I tried, but it’s good to know). The decor is a delightful mix of Thai and Japanese influences, leaving me wonderfully confused about where I was. Is it Thai? Is it Japanese? Who cares? It’s delicious.

Now, the food. The Hawaiian Fried Rice absolutely slaps. Pineapple chunks, shrimp, and that magical blend of flavors that had me thinking I was on a tropical vacation—this dish is straight fire. Pair it with a side of Duck Panang, and you’ll be wondering why you ever wasted calories on boring takeout.

And don’t sleep on the Mango Sticky Rice. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you want to write poetry. The mango is perfectly ripe, the sticky rice is sweet and creamy, and together, they’re like a culinary hug for your soul.

The service? Spot on. The staff is friendly and happy to answer all your questions, like “Is this Thai or Japanese?” (Answer: yes). The vibe? Casual but classy enough for a date night. My only regret is not ordering the Volcano Shrimp—guess I’ll just have to go back.

If you’re looking for a place that’s got flavor, personality, and a faint whiff of Fabuloso, Bangkok Thai is your spot. 10/10 would recommend (and probably will smell like pineapple and curry for a week).

(Edit) removed one star from food and service categories. I returned again, and the experience was not the same, food was inconsistent. I was not offered a side of soup toppings or hot sauces and was made to feel a little unwelcome when I suggested that my experience wasn’t as consistent. Even had to pull up this review with my photo to show them that they had indeed served me a plate of soup toppings. I’m not sure I will go back after this second visit.

Food is good but as soon as you get served immediately the lady comes and give you the check. I understand some do this to shorten your stay so they can sit more people but twice they have missed me from ordering more. Please allow people to eat peacefully and be free to order more. Don't assume

We enjoyed dining here. The food is good. They have a great lunch menu and a friendly waitstaff. Location is good as it’s on Central Avenue in Saint Pete but parking can be difficult at times. We received complimentary egg rolls and sauce that was very tasty. We will visit again.

The basil chicken entree is so savory it’s hard to articulate. My hubs loves the panang currry. The service is great and the ambiance is lovely. It’s a must try.

Went for dinner and I regretted it. I had shrimp drunken noodles and a spring roll appetizer. The shrimp were undercooked and the noodles were chewy, and not in a good way. It lacked true Thai flavor and was very disappointing. Maybe their sushi is what they are known for, but I will not bother to find out.

I'm here almost every Saturday getting the sushi lunch special. I think I've tried almost every roll on the sushi lunch menu. The lemonade is house made and delicious and the chicken soup that comes with it is soo good.

The soup and egg rolls they give you for lunch is fantastic. We have eaten here multiple times each last two years on our vacation. Highly recommend eating here.

A must try! It's my second time at this restaurant. The food is amazing. I love the old school vibes, it was just what I needed for comfort food. The service is super friendly too! We got spring rolls, sate (grilled chicken), sushi and yellow curry with chicken.

Tasty Thai food in DTSP

I was visiting from New York City. I was tired of eating burgers and fries, so I decided to get something different. I ordered the basil fried rice with chicken. The vegetables used were frozen and nasty. They barely gave any chicken with the rice. I would never return to this restaurant.

Ordered from here today for the first time, they have a lunch special for 10.90, we arrive there for them to tell us it is now 14.90 and just changed it last week but never updated the prices online nor confirmed with us over the phone the total. Very disappointed that they would also not honor the price since it is their mistake and it was only a recent change and we are new customers. It seems also too much to now suddenly increase almost 40% in price. We are not coming back.

When we first arrived at the restaurant the server greeted us horribly. When we sat down we waited about 5 minutes until someone actually took our order, it wasn’t even busy and when we finally got our food everything didn’t have any flavor WHATSOEVER it was very bland!!! I recommend not to go here.

This spot is a local classic that has been downtown for many years - Bangkok is THE BEST Thai restaurant in the Burg. St. Pete continues to grow and more restaurants keep popping up - nothing has the charm and the most delicious curries like Bangkok. Not only is the food all fresh and delicious, you will be pleasantly greeted at the door with smiling faces. My boyfriend and I love the red duck curry special, pictured here. It features crispy duck, fresh, savory veggies and a touch of sweetness from the pineapple and grapes. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! A MUST visit if you’re new to town or visiting and a weekly staple if you’re lucky enough to be a local. :)

Worst Thai I've ever had. Chicken was dry. I wouldn't be surprised if the vegetables were re-heated from a bag. Spring rolls were smaller than my pinky and half-filled, worse than store bought. And barely any flavor in any of the dishes. Worth $3, not $12 a dish. Their service got the extra star.

They advertise being open until 2:30. Showed up at 2:10 and was told i can’t dine in because their kitchen is closed. The guy was very snippy about it.

The Thai tea was good. The shrimp pad Thai was sweet which was unexpected. I had ordered without peanuts but the server brought with peanuts then got it changed quickly. My portion size was fine but my friend had ordered a different noodle dish and the portion size was like a kid's meal. I'll probably not go there again.

We went over because we where starving. Surprisingly the restaurant was very good. The sushi is not cheep but that’s fine for the quality you get. We had red curry and a noodle dish. Both dishes where great! As appetizer we had one sort of sushi and that was fantastic.

Fantastic food and service! The spring rolls and crab rangoons were sooo good, perfect actually. The lunch menu is great. You get 2 types of sushi rolls for $11.95, about 8 rolls each which is a great price and they are really good. I highly recommend this place for lunch. You won't be disappointed trust me.

This place is a gem. While it may not look fancy on the outside, take a look inside. It is a small beautiful location! The sushi is great and happens to be one of the first locations where sushi taste: so fresh it doesn’t have even a hint of a fishy smell.

It’s not all that hyped for a 4.5 star , the food was just ok , spring rolls were good , Chicken satay was just ok had better Tom yum gai soup was watery , Server was polite , did forget to give us menus had to ask for it , took about 6 -7 minutes before we were greeted, orders green tofu curry and beef with ginger sauce it was again just ok , the curry and the ginger sauce were diluted with water , so when the bill came there was a 18% gratuity added for party of three total , which is not a problem ,but the menu says parties of 5 or more gratuity is included, so I ask host or another server , there response was we add gratuity to the parties who they believe doesn’t tip , “Wow “ ! Had discrimination written all over that response, really no BS !! Betty or whoever the owner is please pay attention to your employees ! But Menu says different
Attention all guests please pay attention to your receipts when paying , they add gratuity to parties of 2 or more , also look at your to go or carry out receipts! Not sure if you all need to visit that place

This place was one of few sushi/Thai restaurants open for lunch on a Monday. Soon after we sat down, they brought out chicken soap and a vegetable roll to the table. I don’t eat meat so I sent the soup back. We ordered from the limited lunch menu they handed us. I ordered green curry with vegetables and tofu. No one asked about spice level, which is a typical thing to ask with Thai curries. They bring out a bowl with food which is filled with runny, tasteless “green curry.” The curry was bland and thin (not enough coconut cream). The frozen Thai meals at Publix taste much better. We sent it back. Asked for pad Thai instead, which came out ok. This is not Thai food by any normal standards. It looks like prison or nursing home food. Too bad other restaurants were closed for lunch on Monday. Will obviously not be back.

The food was ok but I’m giving high praise to our server. I don’t know her name but she was a young lady with glasses. They were crazy busy and she was sweet, polite, and patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. She checked on us several times and provided great service. I didn’t feel rushed or pressured to order like I have with other busy restaurants in the past. I appreciate patience.
