Their buddah beer is also nice, and if you're like me, and like to collect interested items, keep the bottle, you won't regret it.

Was there on a Friday night. The musician was great (pleasant background music) and we absolutely loved our server “Bonita”. She gave us great recommendations on the sushi and described the taste of one the drinks in great detail and was dead on. I always appreciate a server that knows the menu and has an opinion on the dishes. Ask for Bonita, review the menu, then have her guide you through your order.

Very disappointed with my order. Ordered ahead of time for Super Bowl Sunday and called in an order of Crab fried rice around 1pm. They asked for how many people and we said “6”. Didn’t give a price or anything, just said ok, it’ll be ready in 35 mins.

Picked it up and took the food home and had to run some errands before the game. Finally once the game started we were eating and realized they gave us Chicken fried rice. Called the restaurant a few times and no one answered. Then finally after the 5th time someone answered and said they were closed. I told them we have a platter of chicken fried rice when we ordered Crab fried rice. She said they entered it in as chicken fried rice and it was only $50. That’s unacceptable as I didn’t order this and “only $50” for chicken fried rice sounds crazy. There was no solution and she just said the girl that took my order is already gone. She just said sorry, but was not trying to help.

Edit: it was never about the price. We would’ve paid whatever it was. We’ve had ordered the crab fried rice before and it was $20ish dollars for a to go box.

Always good sushi

The food & service was very good. Menu was extensive with many options. My only negative was the salad, it was primarily spinach & the ginger dressing was too bitter. The restaurant was nice, clean & nicely decorated. There was a woman playing pleasant music throughout the evening, it was nice, not intrusive.

Food is always excellent! If you go for dinner and catch the live music, you'll enjoy. Service workers always seem a little down. My heart goes out to them, don't know what that's about. Other than that we truly enjoy our visits!

We used to enjoy eating at their other branches, so we decided to give this one a try. I’m honestly shocked that this is the same place I used to recommend to everyone. The food was a complete disappointment—everything tasted absolutely terrible, and the sushi didn’t seem fresh at all. The service was also terrible. Because of this experience at this branch, I won’t be visiting any of their other locations again for a long time.

I’m a certified sushi expert. The food is excellent. Fresh. Prepared well. My only issue is it takes a little longer for the food to be delivered to the table. It’s worth the wait however.

IMy job takes me many places and as an avid lover of oriental cuisine I can say that the Sushi Yama in Canyon town center is one nicest I ve had the pleasure of enjoying. Outstanding everything, especially the food.

Absolutely love this place! Sushi Yama in Boynton Beach never disappoints. The sushi is always super fresh, and the variety on the menu is amazing. The vibe is relaxed, and the staff are super friendly, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re grabbing lunch or having a chill dinner, it’s always a good time. Authentic Japanese Excellence

Dining at Sushi Yama was an incredible experience. The sashimi was unbelievably fresh, and the sushi offered the perfect balance of flavor and texture. The cozy, authentic atmosphere and attentive service added to the experience.

This is the worst restaurant I've been to in a long time. I ordered the Pad Thai lunch special To Go. The salad that came with it was very small, but the biggest problem was my pad thai had rotten bean sprouts on top and some other ingredient was also bad. I took one bite, spit it out, and didn't eat lunch today. Thanks, Sushi Yama. I will NEVER return. Do yourself a favor and don't find out for yourself. I will give them one star because at least it was ready quickly. It would have been nice to have been able to eat it as well. This was my third and final experience with this restaurant. The other two experiences were slightly better in that I was at least able to eat my food, but still unimpressive.

Update: I called the restaurant and told them what happened and requested a refund. The manager wasn't there and never called me back, so I posted my negative review, as promised.

Back to say I recently tried this place again. Still not good sadly.

My beautiful wife and I enjoyed 2 (two) excellent sashimi plates, and 2 (two) additional Green Dragon Rolls) (including tuna and eel), all of which were fantastic. Absolutely FRESH, and definitely delicioso!! This was a 4pm dinner on Memorial Day.. A great dining experience, in a beautiful dining room!!

This is our go-to Asian restaurant. I usually have Tom Yum soup and the beef salad. Some times I have Tempura Shrimp or other sushi roll. My husband loves their duck pad Thai. The food is delicious and service excellent. The restaurant has mostly booths which are very comfortable and some tables perfect for larger groups. They also have ample outdoor seating.we usually go on Monday when they have lovely soft jazz and Bossa Nova music playing in the background.

Such great food and service. The panang curry was so delicious 10 outta 10. I will always go to sushi yama when I want the best of the best.

Very tasty rolls! The portions were plentiful and the service was great! The atmosphere is very pleasant and quiet. Would recommend and would return. I really enjoyed their tuna tower specialty roll, as well as their green dragon. I also had their unagi temaki hand roll (forgot to get a picture of that), but it was excellent as well. Everything tasted very fresh and delicious.

Fast turn around for a quick 30 min lunch

Arrived for lunch at 12:30, stood at the host desk for 8 minutes, and was greeted late. Despite only 5 guests, attention was focused solely on others. Unsure if my treatment was influenced by my skin color. Won't return.

Congratulations on your new opening, so far it is the best fried rice that I have had the opportunity to enjoy in a long time. Flavor and freshness of all the ingredients make it superior and unique. I hope its quality is maintained and like to enjoy other dishes on its menu in the future.

Delicious fresh sushi and crispy hot appetizers. This place has an incredible fancy vibe to it and surprisingly had live music on the Saturday night I went. Tried new sushi and left impressed. I definitely recommend!

A really beautiful Asian restaurant that is part of a small local chain. located in the Canyon lakes shopping center. Really nice and extensive Asian menu.

I chose the Deluxe Sashimi, combination of fresh raw fish with conch and octopus with a choice of soup or salad Fresh and very good.

The service was horrible!!! Took them over 30in to approach us. Served food We had no utensils. Waitress ran away never came back. By the time girls came food was cold. They automatically included tip, which was an undeserving 20%. Do not go there!!!!! It IS HORRIBLE.

Have been here multiple times and loved it. Food is really good, drinks are good (although the sake is overpriced).

Just DO NOT come here when they are really busy. Food/service/atmosphere is 4/5 stars normally, but drops to 2/3 when they are busy. Waited a very long time for appetizers/dishes and didn’t get everything we ordered. Felt bad for the staff, they were running around trying to take care of everyone.

My wife and I have eaten here many times. The food is excellent. The problem is we take out a lot. The last two times we were given a time to pick up the food. Both times, after arriving on time, I waited over thirty minutes for my order. Once can be a mistake but twice is disappointing. The second time they didn’t even have my order. We will eat there again, but I doubt we will ever take out again.

I had a piece of plastic in my sushi roll. When I called they told me 'it was probably a piece of the plastic gloves they use' like that makes it somehow better? But it wasn't, pretty large shard of plastic.

Our neighborhood sushi joint has remained consistent and open for close to a decade. Prices are on the higher end, unfortunately.

The life music was amazing last Saturday on October 21: such a soft classic live music mixed with modern music in a classic way. We all three, including our girl, were sitting across of musician and enjoying lovely musical atmosphere!

I brought one sushi roll and paid one price and they charged my credit more money when I looked at statement!!!. The manager didn't apologize or had any explanation for it. Very cold and poor customer service. After calling the store several times with no success and visiting the location I finally got the difference back. Beware and pay attention to your statement if you are paying with a card for any over charges. Will not be dining here again.

Clean big place. Read the other reviews. Kid friendly so Lots of screaming children . Staff is not rude but just not trained. My waitress could not show where sashimi was listed in the menu and she could not tell me what was in my sushi. It was big roll but it was mostly rice. Sashimi was mostly passable but the tuna was off. 9 pcs $15. Mostly the size of a quarter or two and cut into chunks. Cooked food may be better but doubt I'll be back.

Our waitress deserted us! First of all, our orders were very slow to arrive and didn't come out together. Then my request for soy sauce created another long wait while my food got cold. Finally, we waited and waited for the check until in the end I got up and went inside to find some help, and a very kind guy helped me, had the check out to us in minutes. We never saw our original server again! Very strange treatment from a place that came so highly recommended to us.

The food was just average, certainly not worth the bad treatment. Will not eat here again.

Hey this is best in Boynton beach. Waiter Chefs Owner are both great and hard workers. Don’t hate the place because there will be time when businesses are short staff. Love sushi rolls and dessert

I don’t ever write reviews but felt this needs to be done to save anyone else the experience. Can’t rate the food or service since I never got it! Place wasn’t busy, ordered drinks and food, almost an hour later I had to ask the waitress only to find out they didn’t start making the food yet. Never a word from anyone they were running behind, just let us sit there waiting. Told her to cancel the order, asked for my check, paid for the drinks and left. No apologies from a manager, just let us walk out. Not a way to run a restaurant!

food is always excellent. sushi is super fresh. the shrimp soup is one of my favorites. they had a musician playing who was excellent. not overpowering so having conversation was easy. asian man who played pop tunes and sang. really enjoyed that on a weekend night. made our date night . my only 2 issues as i try to be real in my reviews were the service was terribly slow and our server disappeared for long stretches, other servers had to be flagged down. and the glass of wine was miniscule pour. 6 Oz. sorry but that was a definite minus. I actually watched the server use a measuring cup. really? this was for basically house wine. mistake. pour a nice glass . otherwise rock solid and we will go back it's a go to for Sushi .

Hiden gem. I’ve been coming here’s for about a year. I usually sit by the sushi bar. I love to watch the chef work his magic. He is super attentive. The service is quick and he answers my every question. It doesn’t matter if you come with your partner or by yourself, it usually entertaining and delicious. Highly recommend the Nori Lover, my favorite dish. No rice, just crispy seaweed and perfectly marinated and dressed fresh tuna 🍣 and salmon.

However, tonight I sat at one of the tables. They restaurant was fairly full, but the service was quick and warm. Trinity was her name, so nice! Her recommendation we’re on point and sincere. I appreciate that. Always ask the server. They know. Anywho! I went for the Katsu chicken, sauce on the side this time (this is key, you don’t want soggy panko). I was quite pleased. The Panko was crispy and the meat juicy. Yum. It’s a very simple and in my opinion quite understated dish that I quite enjoy. And of course the Nori lover 😜💙🍣

Do not sell shrimp if you will not have the time to properly cleaned it. For most people is disgusting. Plus, do not take more customers if you are busy. We wait like 30 min for our appetizer and 20 more for our entry.

Like most restaurants are extremely hard for them to employ servers. And there's a sign outside that says so.

Sushi is average, nothing to blow you away as amazing. The pork dish I got was tough. The pork should have been razor thin sliced because it has no fat, so it gets chewy when thick. The guitar player is a nice touch. They are constantly under staffed in wait staff. Very nice people, just not enough of them.

The Food is great, but there doesn't seem to be any management or direction. We've been here many times and every time the food is great, but the service is frustrating regardless of how busy it is. You have to almost beg for your check at the end, the name of the game in the service industry is to turn the tables around efficiently so you can maximize your tips.

Food was good, service was mediocre at best. One person requested a fork, which did not get delivered until we flagged down another waiter. Ordered a drink which also did not get delivered until I asked a 2nd time. 3 of 4 meals were delivered (after a lengthy wait). 4th meal did not come until several minutes later (while I watched the waitress bring items to other tables)

Good pad Thai

Food is excellent but the service is ridiculously slow. If you dine in be prepared to wait, and if you order to go don’t leave your house until it’s supposed to be ready.. and you’ll probably still wait.

Ordered pad si ew and instead got pad si ew soup… not sure if the sauce is a way to cover up the minimal food..and it didn’t even taste like pad si ew the cook must have thrown a bucket of sugar into the soup sauce 😩

If I could give a zero,I will.Sitting there for 40 mins and nobody even showed up to ask for drinks.I called the front desk ,she said she was going to check then never came back,10 mins later,someone came to tell me they were busy.Then we ordered everything tigther abd told them tgey can brung whatever out to let the kids eat first(which is plaint udon noddles)45 mins later,they still didn't start cooking yet,we left because we were there more then one and a half hour but didn't eat anything

My wife and I have been here a couple of times and liked it. Nothing out of the ordinary, just good sushi.

*A recent edit: 1/16/23. My wife and I went here for our anniversary last week and we loved the food, but on our last visit we had an unfortunate experience. It seemed to us that our waitress tried to pad our check. We charged for 3 extra drinks and one of our dishes was up-charged from a shrimp tempura appetizer to a more expensive shrimp tempura roll. Luckily we caught the drinks but missed the appetizer. So I posted our experience on Yelp. The owner got back to me and tried to tell me that it was only 2 drinks that we were overcharged for, and was kind of snarky about it. I'd like to make this clear. This was not a debate on what we had ordered and what she tried to charge us, I was merely stating for a fact that this is what happened to us. There is no debate. Let the buyer beware.

The rice had some hard bits and had no flavor at all, And I didn't like the soy sauce.The price was a little high $14.99 for a 8- 9 piece roll.California/ Rainbow roll.Very few sesame seeds and the seaweed was barley detectable.I tried another place "Sushi Bang Bang" and it was delicious! and the soy sauce was tasty!
So, I don't know... maybe I'll try it again, Maybe.

Ate at the Boca location years ago (delicious) so I thought that I'd try this location.
Sushi roll to go. Very good service on the phone for "to go" and at the register.
However, the roll was not the one that I ordered, even though it said the correct one on the receipt. It was small for $15, came with no ginger, and was stuffed into a small container (basically dumped into it).

Every time we order from Sushi Yama, there’s always an issue. Either they got our order wrong, the order is never ready on time, or the food is sub par. This time, not only did we have to wait 10 extra minutes for our take out, but there was a long hair in the rice, and the “orange chicken” is nothing but fried dough with some watery sauce on the side. This is the LAST time we order from here.

We got the boat for 4 and our son got the teriyaki steak dinner. The boat had both sushi and sashimi and there were over 100 pieces total. Came with w miso soup or house salad with ginger sauce. Everything was delicious, few pieces of sushi fell apart too easily when picked in with chopsticks. The fish was fresh and there were additional sauces for dipping. We had calamari for appetizer and the pieces were large and well prepared.

Purchased wahoo and maguro sushi today, the wahoo was great however the maguro wasn't maguro which is disappointing. Instead I was given "escolar" aka white tuna as if I wouldn't know the difference. Fairly dissapointing. Will not return as i defintely feel i was taken advantage of with a good old bait and switch.

It was Friday evening - quite crowded so I understand a bit slow pace of serving. But seriously it took more than half an hour to see our server and place orders. It took even longer to get our food after we placed orders.
NO wonder why it took so long to have our server. There were only 2 servers at the restaurant. I felt sorry for them.

About food qualities, it would be much better to buy frozen food from grocery store. Green tea came cold, Udon was too salty, batter of tempura had weird texture, very floury and lukewarm. It was like sitting in the kitchen for a while. Sauce on the roll was super sweet. chicken katsu was not crunch, soaked in oil. All the food my group ordered were far below my expectation, not worth of money.

Last, one out of two ladies toilet was out of order.

Having meal at this restaurant was waste of my time and money. Ruined my Friday dinner. Period.

I ordered food with a dietary restriction they completely ignored. I didn't notice until I had eaten a fair amount of the food. I spent my Valentines day evening sick and puking. The establishment doesn't even want to refund my purchase.

Service was lacking too, we were there early along with only a few customers and it took us a while to place our orders, get out food and even a long time to pay. The live music was nice and maybe it's a good restaurant if you don't have dietary restrictions and are very very patient with their slow service.

Good sushi, prices are very reasonable. That's why we return.

So I will start off by say the place is filthy. I ordered takeout picked it up and went to my car. As I open my order I realized after a bite or two it was incorrect three rolls that were totally wrong. I went back into the restaurant to tell the manager that I received the wrong order. I could not believe my eyes what I witnessed next. The woman told me the order was for another lady waiting for takeout she took the box in the back and threw the curtain I can see her rearranging all the sushi pushing the food back into the sushi rolls and padding all the rice down with her bare hands to make everything look brand-new she proceeded then to close the box and take it out front and was actually going to serve that to the next customer. I could not help myself I called her out on it and told her it was absolutely unsanitary and disgusting to be doing that with your bare hands and then to try and serve it to somebody else. after she was busted red-handed she told me she was going to take it home for herself an absolute lie. Please do not eat here there are no sanitary guidelines and Serious cross contamination. I am even thinking of calling the health department

Food came cold and down the road right here
My eggplant appetizer would have been great if hot even warm and the miso sauce didn’t spill open all over and a lot of it making eggplant cold nasty soggy sitting before it got to my home. The chicken spring rolls are always a favorite of mine. Unfortunately also cold not even warm. The final sushi was two cut rolls that not only when opened had a strange odor but tasted not so good. It is something we order at other unrelated sushi places without incident.
When I called ’the woman on other end of phone did apologize more than once. Offered to credit or
Send another order of my two items. The sushi didn’t offer anything in return and all she said more than once “maybe you don’t like the fish” I explained we eat this other places. Moral of the story never going back and not a decision I wanted or like to make. Especially local business. I have a generous cash for food and tip. tip $13.00 $56.00 bill. This is only one persons opinion and others can make their own.

Short-staffing was such an issue that it completely ruined our experience. Servers were also doubling as chefs. Waited at our table for approximately 50 minutes before we were able to give our food order. Food then took about 50 minutes more before the dishes were served. Food was mediocre. Unfortunately we will never go here again after such a disappointing experience.

The service is awful. We all finished eating our food ,and they never brought out my daughter's (a child) food. We never ended up receiving her sushi after an hour of waiting and ended up paying & leaving without ever receiving her food.

Not as good as the other locations. My order took a long time. Ordered a seafood ramen. It was served extremely hot and ramen was overcooked.

The food was good. Our waiter, while very nice, did not bring us the correct food. I ordered a tuna roll with spicy mayo on the side. What I received was a spicy tuna roll and nothing else. When I told him what I had really ordered, he smiled politely and left. I just assumed he was going back to the kitchen to get me the right roll. Nope! He returned with the spicy mayo on the side.
At that point my lunch companion was halfway through with his meal so I didn't bother to return the wrong roll.
Not sure I'd go back as there are so many sushi places to choose from.
Again, food was good but not what I wanted.

Everything was excellent, from the sushi, to the pork noodle dish, and the salad. Definitely will be back !

Nice touch with guitar player. Service was slower but that seems to be a continuing problem at many places. That said food was delicious. Both the pad Thai and crunchy salmon roll had a very nice flavor.

Just moved to the area and tried Sushi Yama. So yummy and delicious, we ordered 3 nights in a row. LOL. So happy they are so close by.

Food was greasy and sour... ordered 3 rolls and it took over an hour. Felt nauseous while eating the fish here, definitely subpar. I would recommend Yellow Tail which is not too far away. Much better choice!

Horrible experience! Fish was sour and greasy. I got so sick after eating here I almost had to go to the ER... never eat here, or you might just get sick!

Very reasonable pricing, and great service. They have excellent live music from a very talented local musician. If you come here you should order the tempura fried cheesecake. You will like it I garentee it.

I'm from Seattle where sushi is known to be one of the best in the nation. I happened to stop by Sushi Yama in Boyton Beach and they are on point! Where to start:
- The service is amazing! Down to Earth folks who truly want you to have the best experience.
- Balanced seasoning of the rice with sushi vinegar is perfect.
- Excellent quality of fresh ingredients.
- Great vibes and family friendly atmosphere.
- Live music on the weekends.
- The Asian fusion works well beyond what I'm used to.
- Abide by COVID rules and I felt completely safe dining in.

The only downside? I'm visiting and this restaurant does not exist in Seattle. Truly awesome restaurant!

Great experience sitting at the sushi bar watching our food being made. Sushi was fantastic, great drinks and service.

I go to sushi yama all the time and never had an experience like I had last night, last night I ordered 2 sushi rolls and 1 boba tea drink and it took almost an hour for my food to get done. The sushi looked sloppy and rushed and my boba tea drink was extremely sweet and had some type of powder in the bottom. The “boba” or the tapioca pearls were extremely rubbery and had a weird flavor. When I asked the lady at the register how much longer it would be she said “5 minutes” and I still sat there for another 20 minutes. The restaurant was not that full so there’s no reason it took almost an hour for my food to get to me. I won’t be going back anytime soon.

Worst and rude manager I ordered shumai last night to for my work today saw hair on my 2 pieces of shumai disappointing and the lady was like I m being rude oh well I have to find another place for my thai food now sadly I don't make stories up called them right away when I saw what will I get by lying but they lost a customer plus I ordered food at 6:30 and they told me it will be 30 mins as they were busy I went at 7:25 and they made me wait 15 min more just for 3 things so thats why giving them 2 stars.

Pretty decent service, but there was no other customers. The rice was dry.
