Indulge yourself in the classic Thai cuisine we offer, and the misconception that Thai food is "too spicy" will change forever.
I would definitely come back here. Delicious food, great drinks, and the best sticky rice Ive had in a while, my experience here was great. I decided to dine in, this restaurant seems big on take out but I was in the area and wanted to watch the Olympic games, they had it playing so this place was a win win. The lychee martini was so smooth and very satisfying. The fried calamari wasn’t too flavored but the dipping sauce made up for it. The red curry veggies were spot on and flavorful. I was impressed. The sticky rice with mango dessert was the best. Warm in all the right places, very ripe mango and was so good it made my heart dance. The service was efficient and nothing to complain about. Whenever we needed anything, we got it. I would recommend others try this place as well. This thai food spot is a win.
We got Take Out here this evening and noticed fried wontons in our bag when we didn’t order (or pay) for them. I assume they were added to our order just to be kind, it was very sweet of them. Thank you, they were delicious.
Love this place. Tom Kha is great and so is the Pad Thai. If you don't like spice make sure you check out the images of their physical menu online because that has all of the listed meals with spices on it. For example the Drunken Noodles, very good but the sauce is made spicy so you'll be setting yourself up for a hot meal 🔥
This was cute restaurant to visit at Eastern Market. The crispy salmon was the highlight of my experience! I forgot to take a picture, but it comes with broccoli and I chose the Thai Basil Chili sauce. The mango and sticky rice were also delicious. I suppose I was expecting more flavor with the shrimp bikini, but it was crispy and the sauce helped make up for it. The tempura veggies were a nice addition to my appetizer. The wings weren't anything special. Overall, the service was good!
The Panang Curry was good! Everything else we had, broccoli ew, drunken noodle, and the Thai fried rice were bad.

We enjoyed the Bankok Sunrise drink, crispy spring rolls, thai fried rice, and pad see ew. We thought the pad see ew noodle were a bit to soft to our liking. Overall, we had a good experience.
The Tom Kha soup is the absolute best I have ever had anywhere. Delivery was prompt, courteous and accurate.
Worst restaurant in Eastern Market and the worst experience. I ordered a pad thai and came with an egg shell in it, it was so disgusting and when we showed the egg shell to the waitress and complained about it, she just told me they would let the chef know and immediately came with the bill…(?). Also the pad thai my husband ordered smelled like a dead dog, he couldn’t finish his plate, I thought he was exaggerating and then I believed him when I found the eggshell in my plate… It was the worst experience and also I'm pregnant and now I'm afraid of catching something. I would never go back and I would not recommend it to anyone -1000/10
Love Sanphan. Everything is delicious and the staff are helpful and friendly.
Had the duck. Delicious. The wontons and spring rolls were yummy as well. The curry was flavorful. Great dining in experience.
I’ve had lunch here four times in the last four weeks, and the food is phenomenal and reasonably priced. I have to restrain myself from going back every day. It’s also convenient to Metro with Eastern Market station just a short walk east on the same block.
Great spot, delicious food. Convenient location to 8th St shopping and entertainment. Service was attentive and friendly.
I love this place. I love all food there and the people there are excellent. I always bring big groups, leave excellent tips, and that is because it is really good
Great staff. Food much improved. Am a regular here.
The food was very mediocre
Awesome food - period
I was racially profiled. I placed an order, paid for it. I came to pick it up and they refused to give it me, even after I showed them my receipt. I will never patronize this restaurant ever again!

I ordered the yellow curry shrimp via Uber Eats. The flavors were great, but the portion size wasn’t worth the price. I even requested more potatoes and was given 2 pieces of potatoes, 2 pieces of carrots and about 5 shrimp with a lot of sauce
It wasn't terrible but I'm sure there are better thai places in this neighborhood. They are close enough to the metro that I think they can get away with not being super great. They weren't very busy and no one checked on us for a while which was a bit annoying.
So I rated this place on Doordash and on day 2 attempting to eat the leftovers I needed to add another review becuase the leftovers are inedible and the flavor is zero and the fried rice is so dry and stale and hard heated up it’s gross. The drunken noodles which were decent but already arrived too mushy later became an utter jello puddle, both with undercooked large chunks of bland veggies that tasted frozen then steamed and remained undercooked despite reheating - gross. I swear it feels like the most carelessly prepared fried rice and noodles ever, the chunks of vegetables are essential not cut at all - they literally appear to be large chunks of frozen veggies poured into a wok and unseasoned and added to rice and noodles. Full length green beans (not many, spares) very large carrot chunks (too large) and huge broccoli florets that require cutting which is ridiculous which were supper undercooked given how big they are compared to the other veggies. So hard huge broccoli chunks was the majority of my veggie Thai fried rice which is unusual for Thai food anyhow. The tofu chunks were equally too large and need to be cut in half, not bite sized the way it should be for drunken noodles or rice, very annoying to eat and no flavor to the rice, tofu or veggies, the noodles sauce was decent but not as good as others I’ve had. Worst was none of the veggies or tofu were seasoned and just added on top/way at the end unfortunately, very lazy. It’s almost criminal how much this place charges - especially for takeout!! This place went downhill. Ate here in person one time 2+ years ago, I recall it was good and no major complaints, but depends on what you order, one person wasn’t happy with theirs, and the atmosphere is a bit off. it feels like a restaurant that gets more takeout business than sit down so lots of door dash drivers in and out which is a bit disruptive. And it was super annoying because it was winter so was letting cold air blast in it by the door every other minute. Don’t recommend this place for dine in or takeout whatsoever. There has to be better and more flavorful Thai food around DC…this place is NOT it. Not even edible leftovers for after drinking alcohol, I’m serious. I could prepare something 10x better easily if I just hadn’t come back from a trip to an empty fridge that evening. Lesson learned.
Very low key with great food
We had a wonderful dinner here! The food was delicious. We had the Crispy Spring rolls and Fried Wonton small plates and shared the Pineapple Fried Rice. The service was great!
This place never misses. The food is always fresh and flavorful. Deserves to have a line wrapped around Eastern Market .
My wife and I get carry-out from here a minimum of once per week. It is the ultimate neighborhood Thai spot, incredibly dependable and I might move if they ever shut down.
Great Thai food, I strongly strongly recommend the massaman curry
I ordered through Uber Eats and it took nearly 3 hours to get the food. The Uber driver was kind enough to wait the ridiculously long time for preparation. When I finally received the food, it was cold and flavorless. I asked for my cold salad to be packed separately from the warm food and it was not. So the salad wilted and was warm, while the rest of the food had lost all of the heat. We ordered a couple of fried items (wings and spring rolls), which must be served warm. They were terrible cold. The Thai specialty dishes were all spicy but no flavor of herbs or seasoning. Worst Uber Eats experience EVER.
We have been eating here for years!!
Always very friendly service and the best takeout on the Hill! Reliably delicious.
Excellent food and tremendous staff. They were extremely helpful and friendly to my kids ages 8 and 10 with ordering their food! Thank you, our experience was lovely!
Good food. Friendly staff.
Food is good. Service is good. This is one of the restaurants on the Hill where parents seem to think it's OK to allow their children to be loud and unruly. It's sad and not the fault of the restuarant.
I ordered takeout on a Friday night the customer service was great. The interior had a lot of the dining room area blocked off with tables similar to something you would see during covid restrictions so there's limited seating. But the place was fairly busy. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and promptly given my food that I ordered. The problem that I had was that the Thai chicken fried rice should really be called Thai onion and chicken fried rice. I had the biggest slices of onion in my Thai chicken fried rice! I have never had that much onion! Thick long pieces of onion throughout my dish. Some of my carrots were crunchy. I picked out most of the onions and ate the dish. That was the only con. One of the pros is that I got three spring rolls! I was really happy with that as I've never received three spring rolls and really appreciate that because I love them. If I try this place again I think I might try one of the curry dishes and of course order the spring rolls again. Over all 4 stars.
A friend recommended that I grab takeout here — clearly, they hate me. I ordered online, and pre-paid a tip—another mistake. When I went to retrieve my order, I was ignored by a server who had just handed someone else their takeout order. Ok. I waited to be acknowledged by someone else, got my order, and left. Once I got home, I opened my food only to see an order of Jasmine rice that was burned (like brown and crunchy). I called to request a refund for this portion of my order as I was now forced to make rice for myself. I was put on hold and then told I could get a free order of rice on my next visit. Nope, not acceptable. I won’t be back since I don’t want crunchy and brown Jasmine rice with my curry. Completely over it.
You've gotta try their Papaya Salad. It's delicious.
Great thai on the hill. We were reluctant to go because of some bad reviews from about 2 years ago. But it was delicious.
We got:
- Panang Curry extra spicy w chicken
- Pad Thai chicken
Great neighborhood spot.
Great neighborhood Thai spot. Everything on the menu is solid. Service is consistent and pleasant. Prices are reasonable. What more can you ask for? We’ve come back many times, never disappointed.
Recommend the Fresh Spring Rolls, Ka Pow, and the Chu-Chee Shrimp. The Mango Sticky Rice is also a solid, can’t miss dessert.
Only complaint: The Pad Thai is very fishy. But, I can’t mark them down for that, as it’s a preference issue. Just isn’t my cup of tea.
i hate giving less than a five star review, but i just left a smidge disappointed in the food. perhaps it was just the dishes i ordered (thai fried rice with tofu, drunken noodles with tofu) but i just didn’t think the price was worth what I got. however, i’d go back and try something else. the take out order process is very easy and quick though and i appreciate that.
Shoot, I think I might have to drop Sanphan from my (10+ year) takeout/delivery rotation. Today I received my order and two out of three things were amateur level untasty. I always get the papaya salad which has tasted the same without fail. Today it tasted like warm socks. All the veggies seemed old and waterlogged except for the lettuce garnish. The drunken noodle also had almost no flavor which is very hard to do when it is flavored with soy. I often get food from here and sometimes the drunken noodles are a little burnt or super spicy but today was the first time that I barely had anything to eat except for one dish (cashew chicken).
Best spring rolls & Thai Rice
Food was delicious but a can soda cost $2,25 other than that food was great
The Duck Curry was absolutely incredible!! Their was a depth to the flavor I'm not used to getting even with some of the better Thai places.
19ish $ for that level of cooking, was an absolute steal.
My order of noodles turned out to be an order of rice. I was disappointed when I got home.
Take away or eating there Sanphan is reliably good and comfortable.
Not good at all. Everything was too salty and underwhelmed. Not authentic. The Tom yum broth was super salty with cheap fish sauce. My Mama Tom yum instant ramen broth tastes better than that.
Love the pad woon sen!
This place is hit or miss for me. I go because it's in the neighborhood. The beef in all the dishes I've had is tough and the wings were oddly shaped with way too much breading. Most of the traditional Thai dishes are decent with chicken. Fried rice was too sweet for my taste.
I'm sorry, but I have yet to enjoy the food I've had here. I tried the drunken noodles, plain noodles, chicken pad thai, and fried wings, and rice. All have been blah. Uh, yuck!
My go-to for take out. Love the chicken satay, pad Thai, and curries. Much cheaper to order from them for delivery than thru Uber eats or grub hub, but we walk over to pick up 99% of the time. Have never eaten inside but the staff is always nice when we go to pick up our take out orders.
i ordered their food on uber eats, it was soooo good. great portion, they followed directions, shrimp were big and tasty. definitely worth it.
A solid option for Thai cuisine near Eastern mArket. Conveniently located next to the metro station, this is one of my go-to spots for meeting up with people over lunch. Their lunch specials menu has something for everyone, all at an affordable price, with a spring roll thrown in.
Best Thai food I've had and I have traveled the world.
Just tried this place today for the first time and the shrimp fried rice is the best I had in dc 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Delicious food, fast and friendly service!
We came around 6pm, right when peak dinner service was starting- be prepared for tons of Uber/delivery drivers to be coming in. Servers were kind and quick, the panang curry was creamy and delightful. Portions were good and everything was reasonably priced.
Flavorful
Delicious! Nice portions. Reasonably priced.
Excellent pad see eeuw and mango with sticky rice. Not sure where they find such flavorful mango in the middle of winter! The only place I have ever seen with grilled eggplant-minced chicken-shrimp salad. Great vegetarian options!
A very nice sleek Thai place with a great selection... The duck option with veggies is my go to and is worth it every time
This is seriously some of the best Thai food I’ve had in a while. The red curry was so perfectly creamy and spicy. The basil fried rice and drunken noodles were also so delicious. What makes me love this place even more is the great price point and big portions. I will definitely be back.
The food is great for the dishes I had.....this is the place to go if you like really hot and spicy cuisine
Food was amazing! Service was great!
Very, very busy with take outs so service was a bit slow
This restaurant is the perfect place to lounge with friends after a night of drinking or after a long day of work. The food was reliable and what makes this place exceptional is the service and ambience. Truly kind people!
Friendly staff. The sauce was very thin but the flavor was good
Small restaurant that packs a big wallop in selections selections that are tasty and and fulfilling. True to the heritage of Thailand.
This is the BEST Thai restaurant in DC and I’m obsessed with Thai food. If you like drunken noodles, then get the Sanphan Kee Mao- trust me on this one. I would not get the Pad See Ew here, DC Noodles on Ustreet has that dish on lock. However, the fried rice is bomb here as well as the green curry.
I absolutely loved this place. I love spice, and this is one of the only Thai restaurants in the area I've tried that offers Thai hot! The panang was fantastic.
Large portions and good prices. I think the quality has dropped a little in the last year or so, but I could just be going on “off” days.
Horrible, horrible food!!!! super salty to the point that one bite hurts my throat. I even rinse the food under water, but still too salty to be edible. I have no choice but to throw everything out. Such a waste of money!! Will never order from here again. If I could give a zero, I would!!!!
Service, selection, price and location are always great. This is by far the best Thai in town. By the way the hour price and times cannot be beat.
Great food and service. Prices were not high. A bit of a distance from downtown.
Panang curry was excellent!
Relative scale 5 star. Not anything to write home about, but easily the best Thai food in the area. Would recommend it to anyone living in the vicinity.
loved the tofu
Love this little eatery. Laid back atmosphere with speedy service. I recommend the Thai iced coffee and egg rolls. If you like spicy, there are many options for you.
Decent Thai food, but nothing particularly special. Beware - as others have said, their "Medium" is extremely spicy, at least for their Drunken Noodles. Would recommend sticking to Mild for sure.
Staff is very pleasant. The food was great.
This was the best drunken noodle I have ever had! It was the perfect amount of spice and the flavor was excellent! I had the red curry, great flavor but could use some spice. Pricing was great and it was cute inside!
Ordered the green curry chicken and brown rice dish (via GrubHub). Tasted good but my system rejected it just 4 hrs later. I suspect it's a case of food poisoning. Too bad I had this experience.
Ordered panang and crispy wontons. While the panang was sweeter than I’m used to, it was still very good and super fresh. The crispy wontons were probably the best I’ve eaten. They were crispy and weren’t greasy, I’m a fan. I’ll definitely be back.
Looking for a decent Thai food place nea Reagan International Airport. Picked this place via online search to eat before catching my flight. Enjoyed the taste. The food was flavorful and very fresh. Highly recommend.
Restaurante familiar comida abundante, recién preparada y muy rica.
Honestly can't believe I haven't reviewed this place so far. This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Washington DC. I think they have 1 of the best drunken noodles and the best spicy basil fried rice!!
I'm always recommending to friends and family and go there at least once a month. Not to mention their lunch specials that are very cost effective and come with the side of Spring roll.
Ka Pow Fried rice is dangerous! Honestly, I'm addicted to it lol 😆 I love fried rice and spicy food. Ka Pow fried rice is a perfect combination of the two! It's really spicy so be careful!
Love love love the food!
Great Thai food. We order carry out, delivery, and have dined in. Great, friendly service and confidently good food. Love the kra pow and pad Thai.
Went here 2x during our week in DC. Both time's well satisfied for their veggie menu Liked the Thai Tea & Coffee. Would definitely stop again when visiting the DC area.
Yummo
The worst Pad Thai I've ever had. It was flavorless and the noodles were sticky and mushy. The spring rolls were fried to the point that the filling, which was also mushy and flavorless, was nonexistent. On top of it all the prices are high. When I called the restaurant I was told to call Uber Eats. Stay away from this place!
Pickup was seamless and well executed. The food was just OK. I didn't particularly like the curry. The Pad Thai was better but not anything special.
Went on a nice vacation with my family and my wife and kids wanted some Thai food so we got this off Google map took us there within 15 minutes good food a little spicy but it was good
Good quality food and great service!
Fast delivery - good? Idk? 15 min after I hung up.
Please explain why both dishes are very dry and does not taste fresh. Cellophane noodles are dry and with a lot celery, not a fan.
Pad thai was good, should have split the order it was large portion.
This place is fantastic- favorites are pad see ew and red curry. I would be embarrassed to admit how regularly we eat here :)
This place is always impressively on point. Even with delivery it is always fresh and tasty. The Chu Chee Shrimp is one of our family’s favorites and the portion is big enough to share. I can’t say we have had anything from here we didn’t like though.
The food here was quite subpar. It is actually the worst Thai food I have ever had. The noodle dish I had with shrimp and ground chicken was oily and non eventful and the small 4-5 piece chicken wing appetizer were basically Costco frozen store wingettes fried and served with a strange tangy sauce. The whole production was cheap and at $20 for lunch was a total waste.
Avoid this place at all cost. There are certainly better Thai establishments in the area!
Hot, fast and good!
EDIT 03/2021 ⭐ My follow-up experience has changed my entire opinion of this establishment. My fiancé ordered food to be delivered and after 90 minutes without updates, we called for more information. We were told the order was cancelled b/c we were outside their delivery zone. We live 1.8 miles (an 8 minute drive) away, in DC proper. We received no notification of this prior to the call, and the woman we spoke to asked if we'd rather pick-up. I voted to take our business elsewhere, but my fiancé agreed to proceed with the order as a carry-out. When he asked if there would be a discount applied in lieu of the egregious lack of communication, the woman on the phone insisted there would not. She offered to compliment us one of two appetizer options, but refused to gratis the appetizer that was already on our order. Had they taken the time to notify us that we were not in their delivery zone, we would have gladly picked up. Sanphan's obvious disregard for basic customer service is unfortunate and severely disappointing. We will be taking our business elsewhere in the future.
06/2020 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ordered on-line through postmates for carry-out. That was seamless and efficient. They were almost empty when I arrived so I was in and out. I loved that. It was evident that they were following social distancing and sanitation guidelines. I ordered the Hoi Jor and Kanom Jeeb appetizers. The Kanom Jeeb was delicious but the Hoi Jor was disappointing. The description sounds delicious, but the dish itself didn't deliver. It was bland, and I couldn't tell that it had any of the listed ingredients. It reminded me of the inside of a McDonald's chicken nugget. The sauce it's served with is delicious, however so I did eat them. I will definitely be back to try more.
Clean and consistent. Good food, reasonably priced. Covid-19 friendly. Not 2 Miles away from US Capital
Great quality food and generous portions for dining-in or takeaway!
Ordered through Iber Eats. For the seafood quantity in the curry, it was very minimum. There was only two shrimps, a lot of broccoli which is okay I love broccoli but the seafood vegetable ratio was a tad off. All in all the food taste great!
Didn't like the service. Employees are super slow and disrespectful.
Great Thai food, love their Calamari and appetizers. Goof visit, order and enjoy.
No 1.Being a very familiar with Thai food before Thai Restaurants. This is not authentic Thai food .However overlooking that at least make sure the food order is correct all the. I paid $50 for flounder with Black Sauce only to get home to find it Garlic and Ginger I quess It definitely wad not Black Bean sauce . If you don't really know what thai food is suppose to taste like I quess it's alright however if you really love and know Thai food DON'T GO TO SAMPHAM you'll be very disappointed. 3rd comlaint . Neighborhood business tried to give them a chance.
.
This place is very solid, but you should update your website. Closed at 9, but it says online it never closes before 10.
This place is the best Thai food I’ve ever had!! Recommend by the toy store right down the street by an employee and we had to go back and thank him!
Ordering from them was easy. Food was hot, delicious and savory! Definitely will order/dine with them again 😁 thank you
Clean , food is great
Always reliably great tasting food. Welcoming staff. Great neighborhood favorite.
Eat in, takeout or delivery in surrounding area. They never disappoint.
Stopped in for a quick dinner before going next door to play board games at Labyrinth. The food was tasty and generous, and the place had a nice atmosphere. We couldn't get the soup without fish sauce, so not truly vegetarian. Two papaya salads, two soups and an order of fresh spring rolls cost almost $40 though - more expensive than I would expect for such a meal.
Enak tomyangnya
Ordered three dishes and they were all great. Have had a lot of Thai in the DC area and it may be the best I've had. Glad we ran into it while hitting some museums on MLK day
The Ginger Stir Fry is a thing of myths!!!! Awesome!!!
Great location. Wonderful food.
Everything was very bland and curry was watery. I wouldn’t go back.
Good food, good service. Wait staff very accomodating!
Great food but the service was a little slow
Dropped in for lunch on Wed. We had the larb & massaman curry, very tasty and good service.
Decent food if you don't have dietary restrictions. They do offer gluten free soy sauce, but question every ingredient if you have a restriction. I had to send back my spring rolls because they used wheat vermicelli in them (they didn't charge me). A colleague with other restrictions also had to send their dish back because they only sort of honored their request.
