Rated Ocha Thai at 4 stars (even) from my initial visit. It was a pleasant, uniquely charming atmosphere in its own way. The service was friendly, and I’d say adequately checked upon to make sure everything was satisfactory. The food; for a first time visit I was surprisingly impressed. It was fresh, flavorful, and enjoyable in comparison to many other sushi/Asian restaurants I’ve been too. They do offer a beer selection in addition to their regular beverage selection which I think pairs great when having sushi. Your orders served in a timely manner, no lengthy waiting even as it’s made fresh in your presence. Parking however can be a bit tricky as it’s located in Downtown Stamford, but will definitely revisit in wanting to try other dishes/specials considering they have both Thai and Japanese cuisine and their selection of rolls offered is pretty unique as well-which I will surely share those encounters even though they don’t offer an “All you can eat” experience to have dabble in various combinations.

This place is a family staple. We have never had a bad meal and the family works super hard and are crazy for their clients. Hopefully this place is open forever and is handed down from generation to generation.

Everything is delicious! Lunch specials are really affordable.
Service is outstanding. They truly care about every customer. I asked for hot source the first time I dined there, and every time there after, they bring me hot source without me needing to ask.
TIP: Ask for their secret Chinese menu if you like traditional Chinese food (not American Chinese food).

Let me start by saying how amazing the staff is! My wife and I are moving into the building next door. She was painting all day as I was working and we wanted to try this place. Grab something to go. We walked in 30 minutes before closing and were greeted like we were regulars. Every staff member had a smile and were extremely helpful. We asked if they had menus we could look at and take home and the sushi chef came around to the front to help us.
After browsing the menu (everything looked good so it was a hard decision) we placed our order. Not once did we feel rushed or felt the staff was annoyed because it was so close to closing. That happens in other establishments.
As we waited for our order we looked around and chatted with the staff.
As we left they all welcomed us to the neighborhood.
Here is where they go above and beyond...
There was an item missing from our order. We didn't notice until we got home. My wife called and the woman on the phone (who took our order) apologized and said she would DELIVER the missing item! Are you kidding me? That's top-notch customer service! We were blown away by this. Especially since we weren't next door yet. We didn't live too far away but everywhere else would tell you to come back to get the missing item. I told my wife "They just got customers for life!"
The food was fresh and delicious. We can't wait to go back and sit down in the restaurant and enjoy our meal. We will definitely become regulars!

Where do I start? This restaurant has become my absolute favorite. My wife and I ordered here a few weeks ago and we had to come back and eat again. Food was amazing! The owners are the most sweet and genuine people I’ve ever met! I have been looking for a Thai and Japanese restaurant with really really good food and this restaurant has set the bar very high. I highly recommend this sushi restaurant in Stamford. I’ve been coming to this place for +10 years and I’ve tried most sushi restaurants in Stamford. Every time I bring someone new to the restaurant they become fans and visit often.

I typically order sashimi and speciality rolls. I only trust this place for raw fish. The sakura roll is my favorite.

Brought 2 friends here for lunch last week and the food, service, ambiance and fish quality were top notch. We ordered and share the 3-roll lunch special, pad see ew, sashimi plate and papaya salad. All fresh and delicious and it was plenty for the 3 of us. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back to try more of the Thai dishes.

Have had about every sushi place in Stamford, and this is the best sushi restaurant that I have been to. It's a hidden gem, thats for sure. Not one thing to complain about. Its fast, fresh, and everyone is kind.

I get takeout from Ocha at least once a week, sometimes twice. I’ve tried several other sushi location in Stamford and absolutely nothing compares. They get my order right every time and it never lacks in quality. Not too expensive and never a long wait!

Lovely Thai restaurant in a quite corner just off Stamford's busy downtown. Owners put a lot of thought into creating an authentic ambiance inside through decor. Both Tom Yum and pad thai were decent.

It took me around five visits to write this review, and every time we came we just had and amazing dinner. It is very important for my family to find our asian restaurant, specially a fusion Japanese/Thai; and this restaurant does it fantastic! The price is right, the atmosphere is great, it is a family operation, so it makes the experience even more special. Every roll is unique, the sushi is prepared to perfection. You won’t regret coming to this place.

Great atmosphere and a parking lot close to Downtown Stamford which is great. Unfortunately the food quality has gone downhill. Their sushi rolls are only 6 tiny pieces for the price, and the hot entrees (basil fried rice, teriyaki) were monotonous in flavor.

This is the best Thai in Stamford, and their sushi is also of surprisingly good quality, with fresh ingredients and well-made maki rolls. It has become our go-to for takeout, but the restaurant serves very good green tea if you eat in-house. Highly recommend.

BEST sushi in dare I say lower Fairfield County! Freshest tasting fish, family owned establishment, Sue is so kind and helpful - when I was pregnant she took the time to suggest non-fish alternatives. This was our go-to sushi take out when we lived in Stamford. We have since relocated to Chicago and no place compares to Ocha, even in this city. Highly recommend!!

I wouldn’t recommend dining in at this place, when I went to go pick it up it smelled so bad inside. The pad Thai was decent, but wasn’t a fan of the spicy basil rice

I just deleted my review about the fat salmon because after a few more tries they’ve changed and the sushi was great again. However, the manager/owner told me that the fat is because people like it and she was very rude because of my review. So yesterday was the last time I ate from this place. I worked with customers and that’s not how you talk to them. Never again.

We got spicy tuna roll, amazing roll (there's a reason for this name) and the Crazy roll. Also Copa Catalana for dessert (we share our sushi but not dessert hahaha it is THAT good!!!) Sue is always there to make sure everything is great, she and all the staff are awesome!

I was really looking forward to trying this place because we are desperate for good Thai in Stamford. But we had takeaway from here, and I should’ve known it wouldn’t be good just from the smell it had in my car. I literally said “why does it smell like dog food in here” not realizing we had the food in the back seat. We ended up throwing the entire pad Thai and baby back ribs away - the noodles were completely soggy and they tasted like dish water. The ribs smelled like bad, sour meat. The yellow curry was the most watered down I’ve ever seen, no texture or flavor, just watery yellow liquid. It had this awful, gooey chicken in it that was the same chicken in the tom kha soup - it seemed almost breaded? I can only imagine how long it was frozen for. The sushi was the only thing we ate, and it was tolerable at best. I feel bad posting this but it was honestly the worst take out meal we’ve ever had. Really, really disappointing. If you have a good Thai place in the area, please let me know.

Let me be abundantly clear that if it were possible to give this place less than one star, then I would. My family had a reservation, and when we walked in there, there was only one more family in the restaurant, and they were already eating. Someone seated us at our table, and that was it for about fifteen minutes. No one came to our table. We were about to walk out - and I am now beating myself for not doing so - when someone finally came and asked what we wanted to drink. FFW to the food. Everything we ordered was God awful. The grilled Salmon was like cardboard, and then they drowned it in a sweet slimy sauce.

I told the waiter that I wanted to send it back, and he went for the manager who told me that I got what I ordered and that I have to keep it. I was so upset with the service and more-so the food. I decided that the food and service didn't warrant a tip, so I payed my $130 and left. I could not believe that they chased us down in the parking lot with the receipt, DEMANDING a tip. Someone wrote a review about being treated badly because of race, well I can say that you are absolutely right because I felt the same way.

For everyone who had a five star experience, I am happy for you but this is by far the worst restaurant I've gone to in Stamford. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Holy cow, the sashimi was so fresh and beautifully plated. The Tom yum soup had a bit of a cumin kick to it and was delicious. Got the copa cabana for dessert and it was good. Only downside was the service- only one server for the entire place on a Saturday night so it was slow to get food and water refills.

Really good food! Both the sushi and the Thai curry were shockingly delicious. I am usually quite wary of places that serve multiple cuisines, but this place blew my expectations out of the water! We had the takoyaki and the prospect roll from the Japanese menu and both were excellent. If you are Stamford would definitely recommend a visit.

Favorite Stamford Takeout! Incredible curries, maki rolls, noodle dishes, and hot appetizers (dumplings are incredible). This is just the stuff we have tried! Adapted to the worldwide crisis very professionally, with a great pickup method, very hygienic, and fast. They are so nice on the phone as well! I never write reviews, but these guys deserve it! They have never done us wrong with 20+ orders so far. Make these guys your local favorite!

Completely contactless. Credit card over phone. Pick up at sliding window. Place is so clean I eat out of their packaging. And yes, still delicious. Because really, you can't make shushi.

What happened? This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant but it’s gone hill both in service and quality of food. Nothing tasted authentic, or even had much of a taste at all, is their a new chef? No one checked on us to see if we enjoyed the meal. Such a shame because I was so looking forward to this meal.

100% best sushi in Stamford. The sushi here is delicious, and I've tried everything from the stuff you get at the grocery store to $30 rolls in SoHo. This is the real deal; super fresh, quality fish. The owners are extremely nice and always know my order when I call for take-out. They are very friendly and make the place feel so cozy. The atmosphere is laid-back but nice enough for a little date night.

It was my fiancées birthday... we park right in front (bonus) . We walk in and happily greeted by the Sushi Chef. The sushi bar was our seating choice. The service was immediate and very professional. We ordered the Gyoza dumpling and a couple of their special rolls ...accompanied with a cold sake. Everything was beyond delicious.... The sushi here is incredible. I’ve had sushi in sooo many places, this is one of my favorites. However. The other food is not as good. Gyoza were soggy. Takoyaki lacked dressing/flavor.

The best Thai and Asian restaurant in town! Besides the regular menu, they have special Chinese menu worth you to try every single item! I love their stir fry Napa cabbage and string beans! Be sure to try the Spring Rolls (chicken and shrimp)- handmade and very authentic one!

So good! I am the business owner of a coworking space in the area and every time I go out to eat, I go for sushi. I've tried many different places in Stamford. I don't think any of them so far have measured up to this one. The food is fresh. The service is great. What more can you ask for? I will definitely recommend to my office space members!

Honestly the best sushi! The roll combinations are so creatively paired. I love thier pad thai and a few other dishes. My coworkers and I prefer this spot over any others.

I really like this place. I have been here twice and it hasn't disappointed. The food is good. I usually get vegetarian sushi rolls or any thai curry. My friend got chicken pad thai. It has become one of our fav places in Stamford for good food. The restaurant has nice seating space.

I've been here a handful of times. The service is excellent and I think their sushi is above average. The lady that has always greeted and sat me is so friendly!

I called in a take out order on a Friday night when they were very busy once. I ended up waiting a little longer in the restaurant for my order to be ready, not that I mind because they have a beautiful Arowana fish there that is super cool to look at. Anyways, the manager lady gave me $6 cash when my order was ready and insisted I take it because it took them a while to prepare my sushi. Unbelievable! When have you ever heard of a restaurant doing this?

It is reasons like that that Ocha will keep getting my business I recommend their specialty sushi rolls, you can't go wrong!

I have been coming here for about 3 years. Highest quality sushi in stamford hands down. Always fresh and always extremely professional. I have never had an order delivered late and the prices are extremely reasonable. Prime example of a small business whom takes ownership and pride in details as well as an exerday comittment to customer service. 5 stars!
