The place is small but nice, the food is good and the service is good. Thai pai 51 enough for 2 people. Crispy chicken 71 good but a little too fried. The 2 time we came I ordered yellow curry and I loved it, really good. The 3 time I came there I tried tofu soup and I think the number 70 ram pram something like that I don’t remember the name it was with peanut butter sauce and my husband tried red curry and it was good

Service with a wonderful smile and it only got better. Huge selection of appetizers and main dishes along with a nice selection of desserts. Our waitress was very attentive and always smiling. The dishes we had were made with fresh meats or seafood and vegetables and the sauces were full of flavor. Their menu is available on their website so check it out. We're fairly new to the area so thanks to Groupon we found this place and we're glad that we did as we will certainly be back.

What an unexpected surprise! My son and I were heading somewhere else for dinner but found they were closed when we arrived. Got on google and found this place was just a couple miles away.
What a menu, so many delicious sounding dishes - I took the green curry with squid recommendation. delicious, hot and fresh! My son had the beef pad thai - was just how he liked it! The appetizers we delicious and interesting - thai sausage and I just was too curious not to try the stuffed chicken wing (as pictured, also had fried green beans on the side)! Don't let the book be judged by the cover here. A clean shop and very friendly folks. I can't recall a more varied menu and food that was cared about in the kitchen! Worth a trip! Definitely.

The best Thai food I’ve ever had. Wow, I tried some of the specials, the gyoza dumpling soup and the Panang fried rice with crispy chicken. Wow, I was blown away by the flavors. The service was excellent, it is a small restaurant that seems to do more takeout than dine in, but we really enjoyed our dine in experience. We got some great recommendations from our waitress. Highly recommend trying, we will be repeat customers for sure.

The vegetable dumpling soup exceeded my expectations.

Wouldn't say it's anything special. Not the worst I've had, but also far from the best. Service was a bit flat and uninviting. Tempura stuff was greasy and heavily coated. Got up-charged for dinner even though was clearly seated and started to order at lunch time.

Love their Red Curry Chicken. They read order notes and my picky self appreciates that.

A six year follow-up: we still visit Mae Kong and for all this time the food and service is consistently great. This is another example of the terrific restaurants in New Britain.

This has been my favorite Thai restaurant in New Britain/surrounding towns. The food is delicious and authentic - the staff and owner are so sweet. There's really nothing I've ordered that has disappointed me.

Mae Kong is an amazing Thai restaurant. I am a regular customer there for lunch. There is a large menu with very many delicious options. The taste is less Americanized than most local Thai restaurants. The owner is very friendly and will keep you coming back. I have many recommendations other than the standard favorites you might order.

Papaya salad ( Thai or Lao style, both are amazing)
Laab beef (Lao style, probably best dish on the menu. I recommend with sticky rice on the side. If you want rice you have to order separately)
Fried Thai sausage appetizer
Tod mun pla ( fried fish cake appetizer)
Pad me talay(spicy stir fried ramen noodles with seafood)

I posted about them years ago, but it looks like google cleared the reviews. This place is awesome, their pho has so much flavor and stays super hot if you get take out. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awesome and the staff makes you feel at home. And their desserts are to die for, you have to keep coming back just to try them all!

My family and I LOVE this restaurant so much! In fact we travel 30 minutes from home just to eat their food! We have tried other Thai restaurants but none compare to them. Not to mention their service is phenomenal! We won’t go anywhere else for Thai ❤️

Hands down WORST Pad Thai I have ever had.

Pho is Amazing!! And I've had my share of Pho throughout the DMV and parts of Hartford Ct. We have also tried a few appetizers-summer rolls, egg rolls and Gyoza dumplings which are very delicious. Looking forward to trying more items off the menu and supporting another great Local NB business 😊

Lunched here, delicious. Had Fresh rolls and wings for an appetizer followed by Thai Green chicken curry with rice. My husband had a hot and sour soup.

I ordered a beef salad absolutely WORST food ever. Three TINY bites of lettuce and a bunch of inedible meat. Full of grizzle fat and so tough you couldn’t chew!! Worst Thia food EVER!!!! I would not give my dogs this horrible meat! See in photo attached.

There's better Thai places out there. They served over fried samosas, and coconut soup that tasted like sweet and sour soup. The lady that served me told that the coconut soup supposed to be orangey and tangy. That's bs!!! Please don't come here at all cost. I can recommend better Thai places. Please don't come here. I'm very disappointed with this so called Thai place. I had to run to another eatery, because the food wasn't filling. Very highly disappointed!!!

Classic Thai restaurant with Laotian flair!! Mae Kong is consistent on flavor and offer a lot of unique dishes. I only get to visit the area once every few years and it never fails they remember me every time. The flavor is always on point!

The server even help us out on what to order since me and my husband are VEGAN she told us we can make anything on the menu just for you. You can’t beat that kind of service. Pure perfection.

Food is great but wait is awful (weekends/holidays). If you go I strongly recommend going on off hours or call in an order way in advance. Both times we came here we waited almost two hours for our take-out order (when told it was a 30-35 minute wait). The food is good if you don’t mind waiting for it.

The owner is super sweet and always treats us right when we go. Tonight she told me how much she loves talking to her customers and doing the waitressing to help grow her business. She and the staff deserve it to grow and succeed because the food is always good, the atmosphere is cute (a mix of Thai/Laotian design with whatever holiday is coming up) and the staff is great.

My wife is from Thailand and I lived there for several years, so we are always looking for authentic Thai/Lao food. We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday evening (yesterday) and ordered several different dishes. My wife said the Lao style papaya salad was the best she had ever had including in Thailand! Warning: The level 3 chilli was perfect for us, but may be too spicy for some. The chicken larb and whole red snapper with spicy sauce were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The Thai iced tea with fresh lime was very refreshing. We ordered 5 different desserts, all of which were delicious. The wait staff (the owner and her niece) were super friendly and passionate about their food. It's a fairly small place and there wasn't an empty table by 6:30. Overall, this is truly the best, most authentic tasting Thai/Lao food we have had in America.

I have yet to have better Red Curry anywhere else. Their Beef and Meatball Pho is also spectacular.

Love, love, love their food! I ordered their Red Curry and it has to be one of the best coconut curries I’ve tasted. Our server Jolina, was kind, accommodating and very personable. The food came relatively quickly as well. This will definitely be a go to spot for me.

I had the Panang curry, it was amazing as it came with vegetable tempura on top and I have never seen that before. Absolutely delicious!! You must visit this place if you are in the area.

Small, pleasant atmosphere and delicious food which was served quickly. Prices are a bit high but not outrageous. Would absolutely eat here again.
