Homestyle Thai fare is the focus of this BYOB spot with weekly live music & daily lunch specials.
Had a grub hub group order for work. Ordered chicken pad Thai. I’ve had pad Thai from many places but never this bad. It wasn’t even stir fried. No scallions or sauce. Like one bean sprout. Looked to be steamed. Noodles were all dry and clumped together making it almost impossible to eat.
I've been coming back here for years never let us down. We've never seen it busy which is a shame. Stared out with the Tom Yum soup with chicken. Main course was red curry with chicken and brown rice. The serving was enough to fill me up. The waitstaff was friendly and fast. I watched the clean up after a large party left.
Food is mediocre. My coconut soup tasted like the acid of tomatoes so I wasn’t a fan. My pad Thai was lacking flavor. Husband enjoyed his cashew chicken.
We got takeout. They omitted a meal from our order and I didn't notice until I was home. They were very apologetic and when I picked up the missing meal they added some extra appetizers. The food was good. The chicken in my stir fry was by far the best I've had of the dozens of Thai restaurants I've ordered from.
Really enjoyed the pad see ew, and all the appetizers. Typhoon has a good selection of flavors, but milder (less chillies and fish sauce) than one gets in West Coast Thai restaurants.
I wish they had the caddy of condiments you usually find on Thai tables. However, on our requesting it, we did get little plastic containers of chilli oil and chilli powder. No Nam Som Prik Dong though - those delicious chillies in vinegar.
We had wings for appetizer with dipping sauce, delicious. My entree was a salad with seasoned ground chicken called Laab. Also delicious. Had there green ice tea, very tasty. Ended with homemade coconut ice cream. The entire meal was very good. However, there was no atmosphere. There was no air conditioner, the fans were on, and most of the lights off. I had to use the restroom & I noticed the back of the restaurant was being used for storage, cluttered. Again, the meal was tasty, but there was no ambiance. Service was also good
Ordered take out on a Friday night. My usual thai placd is temporarily closed sadly. Food here was ready in 20 min as indicated. Staff was friendly. Not very busy for a Fri night. Parking available in front om main st. Ordered drunken noodles and drunke rice. The noodles were not as saucy as other thai places. The noodles were also more sweet than other places. Also the noodles themselves were not the flat wide noodles that. They werd dull, long, and thin noodles. First time I had drunken noodles w this shape of noodle. The noodle shape was a big disappointment. Drunken noodles simply does not taste well with thin and long noodles. The drunken rice was ok. This place is was not exciting for my taste buds.
I love this place.
Food is really good, the atmosphere is gentle, and the older ladies are very friendly!
We had a party of 6. Great food and BYOB. We had a blast without table clothes.
Food is mediocre. My coconut soup tasted like the acid of tomatoes so I wasn’t a fan. My pad Thai was lacking flavor. Husband enjoyed his cashew chicken.
BEST GLUTEN FREE PAD THAI EVER
Delicious food!!

Food wasn't the greatest. Mango was slimy in the yellow curry.
Excellent food. Their crispy phad thai is exceptional. The sauce is outstanding. Dumplings are great and Royal Golden Palace soup is loaded with shrimp and goodies that make it a meal in itself. The satay and sauces are delectable. Will definitely return.
The food we ordered was excellent. Our waitress, the owner, was pleasant. Will go back for sure!
Our food was NOT good and I am genuinely confused at the reviews that say anything at this restaurant was good. Everything we received was inedible. All of the chicken was rubbery on the outside yet pink/raw on the inside. We ordered it take out and were refused a refund.

Rude response from the staff !!!
Freshest ingredients, layers of flavors! Will be back! BYOB
Best duck ever
Awesome experience with our group of 14! Great food and service.
Like the pad see ew, reliable and consistent
I love this restaurant!!! The food is authentic, the wait staff are funny and kind. I've eaten here at least 3 times in the last month and each time I've been blown away. I've never dined in yet so I can't star that.
Very charming restaurant on Main Street with delightful staff. Good home-style Thai food with good variety. Remember to bring your own bottle or two because they don't sell any alcoholic drinks. They are quite happy to provide the wine glasses, however.
It was a take out order and pad thai was great! Worths the price.. Thanks
Shrimp pad thai was good, golden shrimp could use a revamp. Also, they're byob.
Incredible and fresh food. Service is great. Best in the area......
Super kind staff, nice calm atmosphere, very good food. Mango curry was excellent!
Nice place for having dinner
Food,,,🙂🙂🙂
Nice Mix Falooda
Food is delicious here.
Food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent. Can't wait to return!
One of the best restaurants in the state. Food is lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious. Sweet, attentive staff, and a clean, comfortable dining room. This place has been my family's choice for special occasions, casual lunches and family dinners for over twenty years. Truly a gem!
Typhoon is a go to weekly for me, at least twice a week I’ll order the Drunken noodles and magic sticks. Soooo good. Parking is hit or miss but I find it best to park behind the building “clock towers lot” and walk through the clock tower building, it makes it quick for me to pick up and go on a busy main st night.
Love the Tom yum soup with shrimp
Crapy parking
Waitress Tata made the experience worthwhile. Otherwise the food was average ( at best) and pretty much no atmosphere but it was a Monday night.
While my sister was visiting from Boston, my husband, son and his girlfriend, and I went here for dinner. Our server was pleasant and friendly.
We like sharing meals, so we got five different meals and shared them. None of them disappointed us. The Laab was delicious with sticky rice. We also ordered Massaman Curry with chicken, , Basil Eggplant with tofu, Duck Curry, and Sizzling Typhoon special dish with chicken.
We enjoyed it all and managed to clean our plates.
It was our first visit but will not be our last.
I still order the same thing Every.Single.Time, because it is just that good! I go with the Kra Tha Thong, which will be the most amazing crab rangoon you ever have, and then it's the Pad Thai for me... I don't know how many places I have had Pad Thai, but there has never been one place that has come even close. Not to mention the Owner, Tata, and everyone who works there really, are just so pleasant... it's been 20 years I have been going here and I look forward to 20 more!
Love typhoon! Awesome food and great service. Always satisfied when we come here.
First time here- went for lunch. My son had Tom Kha coconut soup and I had the Ginger soup both with chicken added- sooo incredibly good; very fresh ingredients. Best soup at a Thai restaurant that I have had; should have taken a pint home with me. Peanut sauce with the tender chicken Satay was divine. We also had steamed dumplings & gyoza- both fantastic. Service was attentive and friendly. Can’t wait to return!
Typhoon is the best food in Middletown! Hands down I would and have eaten it multiple times a week. Get the drunken noodles and you will not be sorry!
Took down my other post!! HORRIBLE!! Take out was disgusting. Staff unkind and unhelpful. Didn’t include utensils like we asked. Fish tasted off and stomach immediately rejected. Dumplings also smelled off. Crab Rangoons did not make the mouth water… massaman curry had pork in it after we specifically asked for tofu in it, as I am vegetarian. The worst Thai food I have ever eaten.
Great Thai fusion good. A bit saucy for my taste but overall really good food and great service, plus it's BYOB.
Best in town
Tasty noodles.
I really love their food and the owner is a really sweet person. All my experiences have been positive. They used to be BYOB but I am not sure if that is still the case
One of the worth pad Thai’s I’ve eaten in a while. Noodles are super overcook. Barely any chicken or other veggies.
Cool place
We just want to try typhoon Thai restaurant today we didn’t like the food it’s below average and the server wasn’t friendly !
Pretty place right in Main Street Middletown. The usual Thai menu. Curry was quite good, as was the drunken noodles. BYOB. Prices were good.
Ordered take out on a Friday night. My usual thai placd is temporarily closed sadly. Food here was ready in 20 min as indicated. Staff was friendly. Not very busy for a Fri night. So rude we just went in with party of 10 and were just ignored….
Excellent food and service
Small portions for price
Really enjoyed the pad see ew, and all the appetizers. Typhoon has a good selection of flavors, but milder (less chillies and fish sauce) than one gets in West Coast Thai restaurants.
I wish they had the caddy of condiments you usually find on Thai tables. However, on our requesting it, we did get little plastic containers of chilli oil and chilli powder. No Nam Som Prik Dong though - those delicious chillies in vinegar.
The drunken noodles were absolutely delicious. The place is big enough to offer space between tables. The waitress was very sweet and attentive.
Do not do takeout from this place unless you’re in the mood to be treated disrespectfully. The lady at the counter was rude, unhelpful, and appalling. It seems they don’t like to do takeaway service yet they have a full take out menu. We ordered two uncomplicated straight from the menu dishes - fried rice and dumplings - but she messed up and gave us shumai instead. Her hostility was more memorable than the bland food and small portions.
Delish food
Spotless clean
Great service
Nice people, good variety, food comes out really fast, and price is not too high.
We ordered the pad thai and drunken noodles. The food was so good we ordered two extra meals to take home. Seriously go here!
I recently ordered pad Thai for takeout. The noodles were dry and bland. I was very disappointed. I very rarely give bad reviews, but I don’t understand how this restaurant is so highly rated? Food is mediocre at best.
Spotless clean delicious food perfect
Ever since Typhoon switched delivery services to delivery.com we have had nothing but problems ordering what otherwise is the best thai food in town.
Delivery.com has repeatedly had late deliveries, and on one occasion cancelled our order that was already 4 hours late because they "refunded" the cost and it wasn't worth it to them to deliver it anymore. (HINT: We never got the refund or food).... they frequently don't have drivers to deliver the food and won't tell you until an hour after they've charged your account. When you call their customer service, they frequently are rude and I've even been hung up on by one rep because we just "had to be patient" when our order was 2 hours delayed. This same rep then canceled the order with no refund after she hung up on us.
Typhoon is a wonderful place to eat (in person) but their delivery is just overall not worth the extra cost.
Many of Typhoons entrees and salads can be made gluten free, but if you have celiac always make sure you use your nima sensor to confirm its gluten free, we have occasionally had cross contamination with their crystal dumplings ( but no kitchen is perfect)
Service and food were fantastic
Always great....like lunch time better because portions aren't as large
I’ve ordered the same dish (Pad Thai) on two separate occasions within one week of each other just to make sure that this is a fair review and unfortunately each time the dish has had mediocre flavor and not nearly as spicy as I would like it to be or as I have had many times before at other Thai restaurants even though I request the highest spice level which is Thai hot, I even asked for a side of extra spice powder and applied it all and it still was what I would consider mild in spice. Over all it’s ok, just nothing to write home about.
Food is great, delivery.com is just way too slow. over 2 hours from the time I place my order to when it arrives. the food arrives hot, so I don't think it was sitting that long, but still. I keep trying to have a relaxing dinner before running my DnD campaign and this delivery is more stressful than if I just fought with the parking downtown myself....
Highly recommended
Excellent service
Excellent food
Beef Satay
Tom yum spicy soup
Pad Thai
Green curry
Love it!!!!
Their food and service are always excellent ! Go Typhoon...
We ate inside for the first time in the pandemic. Food here is excellent and service is great!!
Owner and waitress were very sweet.
The food was subpar.
We checked the reviews and wanted to try, well for all that are raving about this place. Please go eat some other ti places then come back here and you'll understand.
Update- even during a pandemic they still offered takeout and they still are the best! So thankful to have such quality food and the best staff so close by!
Eat in or take out it’s delicious either way! Added bonus is it’s BYOB! Great options even for vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free. I love that it’s quiet and they play good quality atmospheric music (unlike some places that always play obnoxious distasteful music!)
We go here whenever we have the opportunity!
Best Thai food. Wonderful owner and waitstaff.
My husband Walter and I have been customers at Typhoon for 12 years. It is our favorite place to get takeout, and we miss being able to dine in! The food is delicious and fresh, with large portions that sometimes can make one meal into two! The people at Typhoon are the sweetest, especially the owner.
Everything we ordered except the rice was bad. My daughter said her chicken tasted funny and I smelled it and it had gone bad. Unfortunately my other daughter had already eaten several bites of the rancid chicken. We all stopped eating then but still felt stomach sick. Do not eat here
We ordered as a group from work in high hopes that the food was good an tasty. Once we ate the food it was awful it tasted old and it was nothing compared to original Thai food. One of my co-workers ordered drunken noodles with beef it smelled an tasted awful, nothing like authentic Thai drunken noodles. We were very unsatisfied with the taste of the food. To be that expensive for low quality food is outrageous. Won’t be eating here again.
One of the best places to eat!!
Wonderfully warm atmosphere and staff. Food is scrumptious.
Best Thai in town.
Always great food.
Love the Drunken Noodles and the Laab.
Tata is the best and always accommodating.
Must try it if you're in town.
Everything was great!
Very good
Typhoon is the best Thai restaurant around! Way better than Thai Gardens and it is better priced. Proprietor is an awesome and sweet lady. The restaurant is BYOB and I have never ordered anything from there I didnt love! Been a patron for a decade. You must try the drunken noodles!!!
NOT KID FRIENDLY. Came here before we went to KidCity Museum, which listed on their website that this was a kid friendly restaurant. I already spoke with KidCity about that. Waitress was clearly aggravated that my 2.5 yo was walking around the restaurant even though we were the only people there as we arrived when they opened at 11:30am. Waitress was huffing and puffing that my son was climbing into another booth and sat on a chair at another table. She told my son to go sit at his table. When I ordered our food she was rude. She shouted what kind of meat twice while ignoring that I said I didn’t want certain vegetables (many curry dishes at restaurants are served with eggplant). Didn’t notice their sign till I was leaving that states kids are always welcome however public manners are expected. I took a picture of their sign but don’t see option to post here. Good luck finding a 2 year old who sits still during their meal. Too bad.. I love Thai food and food was good but will never return or recommend due to poor attitude.
Awesome!!!
Food is great and love the TLC added to every dish when there might be a modification to the item in the menu. Delicious
Friendly ang staff! Good food, good place!
The service was fast and the restaurant was clean. Unfortunately, the food was exceedingly bland. I ordered the lunch special; red curry with chicken amd fried chicken dumplings. The dumplings were almost tasteless, the soup was salty without delivering much flavor beyond that of broth, and the curry was mostly coconut milk. At thirteen dollars, it would have been a reasonable price for decent food, but for what I received it was still too expensive.
Food smelled good. Need to try it
We love Typoon! Always an amazing meal!
Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Bland not even close to “spicy”. Ordered Tom yum noodle soup with beef...maybe 4 pieces of beef in the entire quart of soup. Drunken noodles with beef again, beef virtually non existent. Chicken pad Thai was ok but not even close to spicy, very bland. If you’re looking for a pile of bland noodles with vegetables then this is your place. Will never go here for Thai food again.
We love typhoons! Excellent food and service. The pad golden noodle meal is my favorite.
BYOB beer and wine
Great service
Typhoon is by far the best Thai restaurant in the Middletown area. Delicious food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices and quick service all add up to a great dining experience. Can't wait to go back!
Good food.
Best Pad Thai I’ve ever eaten. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Every interaction I’ve had with the owner has always been a delight.
This place should be so much busier for how good the food is!
Food and service we're excellent an the prices were very reasonable. We were six people and everyone spoke highly of their dish, in a couple of instances as 'best ever'. We will definitely go back.
Great little place!
Very nice service, clean restaurant but the food was only ok.
Good food
Friendly waitresses , great food, neat and clean. Linda Gumkowski.
I LOVE this place. The waitstaff are super nice, and the food is consistently good. I like the red and green curries, the thom yum soup, the pad Thai, the Thai iced tea, the spring rolls, etc. It's not too expensive and they have some lunch specials during the week that make it even better of a deal. I go here once every few weeks. Good for dates or bringing groups for birthday parties and such (I'm pretty sure it's BYOB)
Glad we stumbled upon Typhoon when we looked up "Thai Food" in a few towns along our route. Delicious food and quite the selection! We enjoyed the varied cuisine and laughed that we had Vietnamese (appetizer rolls), Indian (Massaman Curry), Thai (Drunken Noodles), and Taiwanese (bubble tea) all at the same meal. We were there at an off time (3:30pm) but staff was attentive and courteous. The only problem was that half our tapioca boba (bubbles) were as hard as rocks :(.
Food is average. I find it difficult to find authentic Thai food in the states
It was ok. Nothing amazing. Coconut soup was good. Pad Thai was too sweet.
I was completely impressed with the service and Omg... THE FOOD.. HANDS DOWN AMAZING FOOD.. BEST THAI I EVERY HAD..
Small portions. Kind of a bland taste. Best Thai place ever is MaeKong Thai in New Britain. Large portions, bold, enjoyable, fresh flavors. The definition of Thai food. I've probably tried 6 other Thai restaurants in Connecticut and nothing compares to Maekong Thai.
Amazing place! Fab atmosphere, love the food. BYOB is awesome.
They are food Wizards!!! 😀
Great restaurant. Food is always hot and fresh vegetables. Wait staff is very accommodating and friendly.
Great food and nice ambiance.
Great place. Great food.
Soooo good! Lunch special awesome..
Ran in 10 min to 3 hoping to get lunch and they were very quick, though they reminded us that the cook leaves at 3. Lunch menu was good and price was reasonable at $7 for most dishes (chicken, veggie, etc.). Food was good, though portion was on small side even for lunch. We did not get meat dishes, but at $10, i hope the portions are bigger. Thai tea was good, though again with ice in a fancy cup, tea was done in few big sips. Can't say much for service, it wouldn't be fair, as we ran in late and put them in a rush, but they were prompt with everything.
All the food we ordered was absolutely delicious! We went on Halloween, and TaTa was so funny and kind. We will absolutely come back again!
quirky owner, love her personality great food
The BEST Thai restaurant in town! Almost all dishes can be made gluten-free. Delicious food and amazing service.
Our visit to Typhoon was very enjoyable. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! We tried the Vietnamese Spring roll for an app and found it to be so fresh it was really good. We went vegetarian style and it was so good on its own it really didn't need shrimp. Entrees included Garlic Pork & vegetables along with Cashew Chicken and veggies. Both were delicious and we each had a different side of rice, 1 brown rice & 1 fried rice. Both were equally good. Only our 1st meal there but we will be back! Definitely recommended
Great tai place and prices
Think my fish was frozen for $20
Rich food with good portions with great service! Water never ran low! A little pricey but worth sharing with friends and family.
