All of the fish was noticeably fresh and high-quality, and we were impressed by the presentation of some of their creative rolls. I like that they also serve Chinese and Thai dishes here, and even though we only had Japanese dishes on this visit, we look forward to coming back and trying more. Everything arrived to the table quickly, and the staff were kind and attentive. The restaurant itself had a nice vibe, and we sat across from the sushi bar which was exceptionally clean. I highly recommend checking them out, you won’t be disappointed! Great for takeout too.

Ordered online and food was ready to go right on time nice and hot, got the pineapple fried rice with chicken and a satay mix and let me say my wife and and I thought everything was delicious! You get a big portion for starters and the rice and chicken were cooked perfectly, and the sauce for the beef/chicken satay was amazing, once we get a chance to get a date night in we can't wait to dine in and explore more of the menu!

They offer a variety of drinks at a very reasonable price. These two pictures are martinis that are offered on their happy hour menu for $9 each. The lychee martini was the better of the two. The presentation is pretty, but I still don't understand the reasoning for a sprig of rosemary and a lychee martini. This place was such a pleasant surprise that I brought a friend from work for happy hour one day and colleagues a couple weeks later. For Guilford, you get bang for your buck considering the zip code. I'd recommend happy hour in their small little bar. Make sure to get there early as it is limited in seating.

I've always gotten Eel sushi rolls from them. However, my most recent Eel sushi roll, it was mostly just fatty eel which I did not enjoy one bit. I'll try them again one last time but hopefully the next time I get Eel sushi roll, it'll be better. I had to throw away the last order because it was unbelieveably fatty and not edible for me.

Best Chinese outside of Taste of China in New Haven and Clinton. That said, the spice profile and menu selection is probably better suited to most families at Mr. J's. Bit more $ than the average blah Chinese on the Shoreline. But always excellent.

Did a quick take out after the Guilford Fair. All was very good and I'll make a point to come back again another time.

The sushi here is dyed with coloring and taste terrible. I’ve never had more terrible sushi in my life!

went to Mr. J first time in door seating since covid. It was a joy! Food fabulous, service perfection and new decor elegant. Only disappointment they offer discount for cash and it was not presented. We did not ask did not want to seem petty. will be back on our list for regular go to places!!!

Pricey and sushi rolls not that big, though taste very good. I don’t like paying extra for using a debit card either. But I still try to come for the very good sushi and miso soup, and staff is always friendly

My brother and I sat at the bar and ordered dinner. The crab Rangoons were some of the best I've ever had, not to mention the sushi rolls. Fast service, tremendous execution on all dishes.

The General Taos Chicken is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The American Dream roll is also an automatic order.
Since Covid have only been doing Takeout.

Haven't been in awhile because the quality had gone down hill. They must have gotten a new chef because everything we ordered was very good, and hot. I had General Taos chicken and my wife had a shrimp curry dish. We will order again.

The food is always terrific and the ownership and staff are some of the nicest people around. We are lucky to have such a nice establishment in our town.

Overpriced to what you get. One of the worse General Tsao chicken. I have ever had. Not recommended

Terrible!! Nothing has any flavor. Ordered Mongolian Beef 75 % red onion 15 % green onion and 10% beef. Kung Po Chicken, 6 pieces of chicken and 5 stalks of celery ordered extra spicy. Had no spice at all. Pork Fried rice came as chicken fried rice. Almost zero meat mix with rice A roni. Chicken dumplings zero flavor. Had better frozen from Costco. $60 in the garbage. NEVER AGAIN.

Twice getting sushi and appetizers for dinner and very pleased both times! The spicy tuna and spicy crunchy shrimp roll are delicious rolls that I recommend. Most definitely satisfies any sushi craving someone might have, and their selection of sushi and dishes in general is awesome too!

Our fave Asian restaurant in this area. My son's all time favorite food. He's 13 now and insists on having his birthday meal there annually. Food is very good, I really love the Chinese food and the sushi.

Seafood Udon soup tasted spoiled and salad had 1 tomato and two cucumbers. The rest of the salad was lettuce. The staff were very kind.

Worst sushi I have ever had .. the salmon rolls were all fat. They were thick and chewy.. gross ..
I live in the apartments near by and I love sushi so I figured I would give them another chance .. so another day I ordered a different type of sushi and the eel avocado rolls had pieces of something sharp in them!! I had sharp objects stuck in my throat after eating it and when I was chewing it felt like glass..

The most reliable restaurant in Guilford! They are always open, even on holidays and in the evening. The general Tso’s chicken is delicious. Their menu offers Thai, Chinese, and sushi made fresh. Eat in or take out; it’s always the same good food.

The food was not the best I've had, but it was reasonably priced. I would go back to try other options. The General Tsou's came out at a great temperature, but failed to have the spice I was looking for.

The portion size on the general Tsou's was very large and enjoyable for somebody who likes to have a lot and other dishes came out at similar sizes. This means you really could order one meal and eat it again for the next day. This also means that money is walking out of the door for almost every customer.

That being said the environment was very homey and seemed to be very relaxed. It felt like an Asian bistro, but it lacked a bit of asian decor that I usually see.

Got a to go order and the dumplings were fried, but so greasy they were almost inedible. The garlic Thai shrimp I ordered had 3 shrimp and the rest was green onions, and was $15. The crab Rangoon weren’t stuffed, so they were mainly fried wonton. So incredibly over priced. I would say to just support your small local Chinese food restaurant. You’d get better quality for the price. Do not recommend.

Horrible. Sushi was so disgusting. Seaweed wrap around sushi was BAD. Told the staff about it and they still charged us. Almost walked out. Will never go back. Martini was done horrible also.

So far, I've only had Thai lunch from Mr J's. But if the rest of the menu is as good as the Thai, you're in for a treat. The Tom Kah Kai soup is spicy, excellent, and delicious. The Pad Thai, Thai Ginger Chicken, and Drunken Noodle are all exceptional.

The thai menu seems a little off. The drunken noodles and pineapple fried rice were barely recognizable and had off-putting smell. Was unable to eat. Cashew chicken and spring rolls were good and price was good too! The shrimp dumplings had the same odor as noodles and rice reminding me of a wet ash tray but tasted ok. Im going to chalk it up to a bad day in the kitchen and give them another shot.

Ordered Szechuan beef and simple dumpling appetizer....cost 23$, I expected the food to either be extremely good or be a massive quantity, was neither. It was surprisingly sub-par food(celery? in an already tasteless szeuchan dish made it pretty bad). All I can say is this place is SO overpriced. Food is meh
