Thai Basil, a Greenwich staple since 2007, serves authentic Thai cuisine in a cozy setting. Our menu features classic dishes prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Really delicious food. I had the fried snapper and fried rice and both tasted so light and fresh. You can tell they use clean oil and quality ingredients. Nothing was too greasy and the flavors stood out. Papaya salad was so yummy. They cater to your spice level. I also had the Bangkok dumplings to start and they were super moist and packed with filling and flavor. Service was great and the restaurant is so cutely decorated. Definitely recommend!
Road trip from Philly, and already planning on how to get back here again. Oh my goodness what luck we found this gem! Best food, best flavors, best everything!! Me and my boyfriend aggressively pointed at it as we ate kind of good. They now have alcohol and the Thai beer was sooooo refreshing. Would definitely recommend the red curry with tofu. Yum!
Seriously the most unreal food. The BEST curry and drunken noodle I've ever had from anywhere. The customer service is 12/10, the music and atmosphere is so calm and serene and the interior design is beautiful. Perfectly situated on the bottom of the avenue. This is our new go to spot for authentic Thai cuisine 1000000%
Amazing food and customer services
Great food and amazing service

Really good food!
i love this place!!! the red curry is fantastic, the service is fast and kind, and when i get takeout it's just as good too!
Excellent service and foods. The staffers are very inviting! We arrived 10 minutes after happy hours and got accommodated drinks with discounted prices, Overall positive experience.
The service was very attentive and friendly and the food was great with a nice level of spice.
Great food, nice atmosphere, fast service and very friendly staffs. This is our second time and will definitely come back. :)
The food is not as delicious as it used to be especially if you are looking for vegetarian options
Nice ambiance and decor, quiet. Excellent service and creative delicious food.
Will come again
Staff is friendly and welcoming, along with a wonderful ambiance. The food comes quickly and is delicious every time I come. I highly recommend Thai Basil for every occasion with the ones you love.
Been coming here for more than 4 years since my son loves coming here. For me, generally I like Vietnamese Chicken, drunken noodle and Pad Thai. However, Today’s Chicken Pad Thai dinner portion was more of a lunch portion.
I did take out and honestly this has to be the least favorite Thai restaurant around. Somehow the flavor fails to impress and tofu in curries are always hard and chewy.
I will prefer other Thai restaurants over this one from now.
Inside was beautifully decorated for the holidays. We had the larb and the massaman which were both delicious and good portions. Excellent service too!
This restaurant is terrible
Loved everything that we tried here. Green sauce is amazing. Must try.
Cozy place with awesome food. ❤️
Great food, very nice jungle vibe. Overall, great place to go to, I highly recommend it
Absolutely absurd. Words cannot express what I am feeling at the moment. I had a very long day at work and decided to order a chicken curry and guess what was missing? The CHICKEN!
My boy ordered chicken curry got curry without chicken.
and potatoes were not cooked.
and the rice smelled funky.
This place always gets the order wrong. Never trust this place
The server was really nice and kind.
Tom Yum Goong was authentic and very good. Thai Cold Coffee was delicious. I will be back for more!
I walk by this place everyday on my way to work. Stopped by on a whim to check out their Happy Hour before catching the train home… I wish I had spent more time! The food was delicious, the venue is beautiful, and the owner is extremely kind. Will definitely be back!
i was seated last minute with a party of 8 and thoroughly enjoyed the food, service, and ambience! The owners were extremely kind and we had a great late night dinner.
I can say with confidence that the food is very good under this new management. The atmosphere is so much cleaner and inviting. I ordered noodles with Tomyam soup for lunch and the flavor is spot on authentic. (having lived in Thailand for many years) Will definitely come back again. :)
Fantastic crispy red snapper!
The flavors were delicious and the spring rolls were delicate and crispy!
The ambiance is beautiful, the food was great, with good quantity. I recommend the fried rice and was happy to see they had vegetarian options and options for orther dietary restrictions
Excellent service and food. Friendly and super efficient staff!
Loved and highly recommend the soft shell crab with black pepper sauce.
The food was ok, nothing special. One thing that bothered me a lot is the service. I was with a friend, he finished, I was still eating, they brought the bill and came back to get paid while I was still eating!!! I felt very disrespected, rushed to finish while the restaurant was basically empty… Not the best experience!
Very pleasant. Very polite. The food is excellent and excellent service.
The food and service here is amazing. I have eaten in a few times and every time I come, the people are so nice. I never feel rushed when dining in. I have also ordered out a couple times and the food is always ready quick and hot. Totally recommend coming in!!
The new management nailed it .. The food smells fresh and tasty. It give an authentic aroma. The variety is good . I ordered Thai signature curries which is common in all restaurants as Massaman and Panag .. and standard fried rice with noodles and dumplings. And if you can make these primary dishes right rest of the menu will just follow.
Beautifully prepared, fresh, delicious food!
Staff are very friendly and attentive.: great service and great food! Come check it out!
Best tho food I’ve had the duck was SO good and tender and crispy and the curry was the right amount of spicy with out being to much and the duck spring rolls were so crispy and delicious
Wonderful Thai restaurant! The space was recently renovated and very pretty. I almost always get the duck noodle soup, which is like a warm hug. The meat is crispy and tender, the broth tastes like it’s been simmered for hours and the bok Choi and sprouts round out the meal. I’ve also on occasion ventured to other parts of the menu and every thing tastes authentic and delicious!
Seriously the most unreal food. The BEST curry and drunken noodle I've ever had from anywhere. OB was a fantastic server and the food was amazing!
I’ve tried pineapple fried rice in so many places, this is the best thus far. Absolutely amazing!
Edit Aug 24, 2024:
Unfortunately I have to take a star off my 2022 review. Service and atmosphere is still great, but I believe the new ownership has changed the recipe of the pineapple fried rice & it is a significant departure.
I’d urge ownership to restore the previous recipe if it’s available to them. It will be missed. The current recipe is good, but I can’t say it’s the best like the previous one.
Pleasantly surprised how good the Tum yum soup an the Green Curry Chicken was. The staff were very pleasant and the new owner Nattima is very attentive makes sure every customer is served with a smile. You will not be disappointed. I will be back soon for lunch.
Favorite Thai place in town for years! Best food, amazing and sweet service and the perfect atmosphere always.
Best food place and very affordable! I love this place 🤍
Great food. Even better service.
The beef rice noodle soup was DELICIOUS and I’m sure the other noodle soups were too, although I didn’t order them. The chicken stick was also great. They have no dessert. But that’s fine. I still loved the food!
New management and still delicious
Quality of food is well above par.
My pad Thai was extremely underwhelming. It was essentially linguine in a bowl with no flavor!
The food was scrumptious we will be back soon!
Under new ownership. As a result, at present they don’t have a liquor license and cannot serve. The good news is until the license comes through it’s BYOB (though if you don’t know that beforehand it’s difficult to easily take advantage of; there’s not a liquor store or even grocery/convenience store right on this block).
As for the food, the curry entrees were quite good. However, the quantity of rice provided is far too small, and it’s $2 to get more. Also the dumplings we started with were very bland and disappointing.
This great little gem is now under new ownership and the food and service are both fantastic. I had a salad with tender chicken and an amazing peanut dressing that was superb. The wait staff is super friendly and cute as can be. They also clean thoroughly after a patron leaves which is always reassuring in the Post Covid Phase!
Food was good. Service was cool. Atmosphere was N/A. We were the only ones in house for lunch at that specific time. No complaints I can think of. I will say the spicy fried rice with chicken isn’t really spicy but still tasty more of a pointing out than a complaint. I’d definitely come back to try other options and I WOULD recommend.
We loved everything about this place! The food was excellent, pretty decor, pleasant service. What a gem!
Food used to be decent, not sure what happened, but it's pretty bland and flavorless. Ordered for the first time in a while, now they're sending spam text messages with ads.
I used to say, I've not had bad thai food. That changed last week in Rye NY with a thai veggie red curry prepared so badly - veggies over cooked and mild, when I specifically asked for medium plus hot.
Dark dreary I always have ordered thai food from Bedford Thai in Stamford. On accident the food was placed with Thai basil in Greenwich and thats where my nightmare began. The seafood lobster shrimp and scallop was overcooked and had no flavor but pepper. I know Thai food is spicy but I'm sure your supposed to use more spices than pepper. It was horrible even the soup and the cheese star wonton not fried hard mushy and bland. I will never eat from here again.
My husband and I stopped here on our way to Massachusetts and were welcomed with friendly, prompt service and delicious food.
The fact that this place is located in Greenwich you would think it’s on point with food and service. The food was ok, not the best. I been to other places that are way better. There were fruit flys constantly flying around me and my partner, it was super annoying and made it less enjoyable to dine in. Service seemed annoyed with us, I think this experience at the Thai restaurant will be my first and last time. I will stick to Stamford Thai restaurants.
Ordered Thai Basil to-go and was very pleased with the quality, quantity and flavor of the dishes for a reasonable price.
This is one of the worst takeout meals I have ever had. The chicken in garlic sauce was swimming in a disgusting, unflavored broth, the pad thai was dry and had 0 flavor, and the texture and flavor on the dumplings, awful. A waste of $50.
Use to love the pho. Now it’s overly salty and just did not taste right. Probably last time going there again
Very solid 4 stars, would even be 4.5 stars. The tom yum soup is some of the best I've had, the drunken noodles are excellent. Very good service, too. Worth checking out if you are in Greenwich
Food taste old water down , taste of Thai land in Torrington ct. That's real good food. This food I just eat and threw away the rest wife said it smells rotten. Who ever gave this place a 5 star review must not have taste buds or sence of smell.
Horrible service and horrible food - don’t waste your time here
I absolutely love Thai Basil and order from here constantly. Uber Eats will often suggest it to me which I don’t mind in the slightest. Their pad see ew is a perfect blend of salty and sweet (other local places don’t quite get the sauce right). Their version of the dish is one of my favorite foods. I’ve also ordered their dumplings, and a variety of other dishes and I’ve never been disappointed.
We love getting take out from this place. It’s always consistent and they’re great at listening to dietary restrictions. Always appreciate their spice levels. They don’t play! It’s the best thai in the area.
I've been going to Thai Basil for years to eat delicious Thai food. The ladies were great and compassionate. They were really accommodating and wanted to make sure I was delighted with our lunch order. I'm grateful, thank you.
This used to be a Thai restaurant I always recommended, but I think it has gone downhill lately. Ordered simple green salad with chicken and Thai peanut dressing and daughter had a pork dish.
Both had ample meat but dry, and pork was clearly pre-packaged strips of pork with grill marks, tasteless and dry. Noodles good. The peanut dressing was gloppy thick “from a jar” variety. Tomatoes all under-ripe. Daughter’s pork dish came with surprise salad, no dressing, had to request, and served on same plate as substantial pork/noodle dish—couldn’t they have served on small side plate? No knives given but definitely needed to cut up salad and dry meats, had to get up and ask.
Disappointing meal. Stick with ordering standard Thai dishes.
Hands down the best Thai food I've ever tasted. See for yourself. The chicken basil fried rice and beef Pad See
Yun is to die for. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
It's impossible to be as late as they are with delivery consistently. We order for our company & only sometimes would they be on time. What's frustrating is if I ever get my lunch delivered today, it'll likely be frozen and a complete waste of an order.
Love it.
Delicious
Best thai food ever. I have tried some thai across the country but thai basil is the best. Try their red snapper… yummy
They charged me $1 extra for steaming the food even though the order is called steam. The container is mostly white rice ... very little beef and a bit gummy. Broccoli was steamed just right.
Tasty Thai food, was perfect!
The worst Thai food ever. The green goddess fish filet was stale. The fish cakes tasted like rubber . The food was cold , I have a feeling it was reheated. Just disgusting. Never again !
Thai Cafe Miami Lakes’ I miss you.
First and last time ever coming here. The server in the front must have not known that she works in a place of hospitality because the way she handled things was very unprofessional. The food took way too long to come out and was not even good either. Very bad service.
They are very likely to be sued one day as they denied entry to our service animal accompanied by the handler. I don’t know if the owners know the staff is doing that.
Ordered pineapple fried rice and the rice was over cooked, it was very mushy and clumpy. I barely ate anything I just threw the rest in the garbage.
Great local place if you're in the area, food is pretty fresh and tasty but tended to be on the sweet side. I would stick to the tried and true noodle dishes but order tofu or veg as the meats tended to be on the dry side. Also, the shrimp texture was off.
Would order again:
Curry puffs: very flaky and flavorful
Pad thai: noodles were a good texture and flavor profile was right but pork was slightly dry
Pad see eew: great umami flavor but beef was dry
Would skip:
Coconut shrimp: very average and needed salt
Thai bbq pork skewers: again, meat was on the dry side but had good flavor
Yen ta go (pink soup): too sweet
Solid Thai food. Pleasant staff. Well worth a visit!
Nice ambiance & clean. Big noodle soup is big! The bang-box was all delicious plus a dessert, yummy.
Thai Basil sells great food for a reasonable price. I order from here about once a month and enjoy the food every time. My only complaint is that sometimes the portion size seems to vary. I would prefer a standard portion size, especially for the noodles and white rice.
I only went here to try their beef pho.
Needless to say I will not be back. I have never had pho with broccoli and carrots in it. The broth was tasty but wasn’t what I am used to.
Food is eh.
Consistent fast good food - it is at the end of the day Americanized Thai food but the prices are really reasonable and they have lunch specials. The service and variety is great and the wraps with the lettuce and meat r probably the best. Just a quick and easy meal in an area surrounded with pizza restaurants
My favorite Chinese Thai fusion ever!!!!
I've been visiting this restaurant for last 6 years. The service and foods are great in general. But, one thing I noticed these days is that quantity has reduced significantly for last few months.
Some of the best pineapple fried rice I've ever had. Definitely lives up to the hype. Extremely friendly staff and great dine in experience. Will definitely be coming back when in the area.
We came here cause this place got the good reviews and from Thai person, we order the green curry and tom yum noodle
Green curry has vegetables which shouldn’t be in green curry like string bean etc
Tom yum has broccoli, sweet pea, carrot and it is way too salty , i ask for more spicy but don’t feel it
On the menu, tom yum noodle for lunch is 12.95$ but they make the dinner size for us that charge more ( maybe i should order “lunch” especially on 12 pm.)exactly,
The thai tea is ok
Awesome Thai Restaurant!
Delicious food, Great Staff, reasonable prices.
Delicious
i've eaten at hundreds of thai restaurants. this one is randomly up there. love the food.
Nice and authentic , weekend price is bit high than weekdays
Decent Thai place, with better than average food for the fair price. Service was also good and as well as interior.
Loved it... cozy place to unwind❤️
Food was great and friendly staff
Me and my wife’s favorite Greenwich restaurant
This place consistently makes the BEST tom yum noodle! House made broth, fresh herb. Not too salty
Very delicious! I got their Bangkok Box lunch special, which was good quantity and tasty! Would recommend trying the mango curry
This is a great Thai restaurant in town! Quick delivery and delicious food. Their chicken pad thai is absolutely delicious and I cannot wait to order more items from Thai Basil . Thank you!
Great Thai food.
Tasty thai!
Very small but exquisite restaurant 👌. Love the food. My lady and I will be back.
Consistently the best thai in the Greenwich area.
Great place! Great location! Fantastic food! Excellent pad Thai!
Grenn papaya salad needs tons of flavor
Take-out padsee ew was mostly just noodles, not very tasty. The edamames were tasteless too. My husband enjoyed the fried rice.
Food was average, the service was not bad except for the host that chased us out the restaurant to ask for a tip, when is not an obligation to do so,and on top of that she had the nerve to ask me,if I had never been to a restaurant before, honestly u have to treat a customer nice, and not ask for a tip the way she did!!!
Yes - It was a take out order, so I’ll give no rating for presentation, but...
The Crispy red snapper was anything but crispy - more like an over cooked piece of a tire.
The Wild Boar tenderloin was also anything but tender - just a lot of very spicy pieces of dry meat, resembling old shoe soles...
Never mind that, despite specifically indicating in the order that I would like utensils- a new trend, I guess - whoever genius prepared the order didn’t include them...
I would never order from that place...
I ordered to drunken noodle to go. Unfortunately it lacked taste. I was expecting a savory and sweet dish and instead I got a container of noodles with barely any sauce.
The hospitality here was exceptional until the “sisters” left. Now the service is lacking and some unfriendly staff. The food I had most recently gave me a stomach ache which is abnormal. They’ve discontinued their lunch specials for weekends and jacked up their prices, seems like new management.
Lovely staff and tasty thai food
I love the food here, its worth the short drive.
Their pineapple fried rice is the best in New England!! I drive all the way from New York sometimes just to eat it. The owner and the staff are very friendly.
Great food and great fast service!
My wife likes this place a lot. Most recently, they also promptly refunded a small mistake in a delivery order (steamed instead of sauteed veggies), so we appreciate the service as well.
I love this place! They have been in Greenwich for 10 years plus. They have phenomenal Express Lunch options at an affordable price for Greenwich. Also I am vegan and they can “veganize” most if not the majority of their menu items. The staff are very friendly and efficient as well.
Not as good as I remember. Coconut soup was watery, the papaya salad was bland no flavor and the main dishes were off the mark, how can you messup pad Thai. Would not recommend. Server very attentive, though.
Lovely food
Absolutely delicious Thai food! Unique taste. Great portions and the menu has plenty of choices.
Was ok
Beef Pho is rich in color and flavors. Beef is tender and delicious. Highly recommend. Lunch menu is available.
Great food super charming very cheery helpful staff
I absolutely love Thai Basil! Their food is always so freshly prepared and flavorful. The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly. You won't be disappointed!
At least it could give a bite
We were looking for a good Thai restaurant and came across Asian Thai Basil. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. great Thai food.
