I will start by saying I have been to Thailand twice, including Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket, to taste some real Thai food. I have family that lives in Thailand and had a few food tours and really got to experience great Thai food.

This place totally floored me with the flavors and the freshness of the food. The flavor was perfect in the beef stew, and the al dente fresh veggies were great. The peanut sauce on the chicken satay was just spot on and original. It made all others I have had inferior. It just had a better texture and flavor.

The service here is great, and they were on top of everything I needed. The chef is beautiful and sweet and absolutely creates a special experience with every dish. I can't wait to go back and to take my family when they visit.

I really can't recommend this Thai food experience enough.

BEST FRIED RICE EVER! We came for a weekday lunch and ordered the Pad See Ew (best I've ever had) and the Thai BBQ Ribs. We couldn't stop eating the fried rice, it had such amazing flavor. I typically drown my rice in soy sauce and this dish didn't need any at all. Really pleasant atmosphere inside, attentive staff, and very kind owner/chef Joyce. We were even offered moist towelettes after eating the ribs, as well as iced tea/thai iced tea directly from the owner. Such a lovely surprise from this new restaurant. They have a lunch menu also, plenty of parking right by. Would absolutely recommend and we will definitely be back!

I had the Panang beef stew and it was delicious. Everything was excellent. The sauce, the meat, the veggies. Perfectly done. The atmosphere is also very nice and the service was friendly. So happy to have this in downtown Upland.

I cannot sing praise enough! I ordered the salmon sashimi salad with Wasabi sauce. Delicious! My boyfriend order the barbecue chicken, which came with sides, and it was beyond amazing (especially with the sweet and sour sauce!)

And no matter what: get the mini puffs with the curry essence and beef. Crispy and light but flavorful.

The atmosphere is small and intimate with only 8 tables.

Don't let any of this fool you about price either! Reasonably priced at about $20 a plate with enough to share. The owner is a wonderful woman and she and her staff absolutely deserve every ounce of praise. They have been open for 4 weeks and I recommend you get here before word spreads and there is a line out the door.

As a foodie I'm thrilled to find a new place where the flavours tantalise my tastebuds. I can recommend the Panang Roasted Beef Chuck Roll and the Braised Beef. Incredibly tender and unique in flavour. The chicken pot stickers are handmade. I won't be able to order them again from anywhere else. Great place for a relaxing meal.

First time here and I'm thrilled to have found such fresh and flavorful food, excellent service, and a beautiful atmosphere! I've missed Joyce's cooking for over a year and will return often for her wonderful food! If you're new to Joyce's Thai cuisine, I recommend the curry puffs, fried rice, curries, & banana dessert. Then return to try everything else!

My sister and I had the pleasure of joining our Mother's 'Out to Lunch Bunch' at Patra, a charming new Thai restaurant in Downtown Upland, where we enjoyed a great lunch. Notably, Patra’s restaurant just six weeks old, boasts fine dining with owner Joyce Patra personally preparing all dishes from scratch. She offers sake, beer and wine and specialty teas. As well as Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite. I enjoyed the Thai green curry with chicken and white rice, delicious! I can’t wait to go back. Check out her website for the menu. All the ladies loved the variety of dishes they ordered.

My parents introduced my Salt Lake City-based family to Joyce's first restaurant, Bangkok Blue, in La Verne 20 years ago. We followed her to 50-Fifty in Claremont when she relocated, and continue to be delighted now by Patra in Upland!

My kids grew up adoring Joyce's amazing dishes and genuine warmth, and my family regards her restaurant (wherever the incarnation) as the gold standard for authentic Thai and Asian Fusion cuisine.

Both of my parents have passed on, now :( Joyce recently - and graciously - hosted our 40-person extended family dinner at Patra in honor of my father. She placed the utmost importance on providing excellent fare and a welcoming, caring, elegant atmosphere to all of us guests - a fitting tribute to my parents' enduring love of her fine food and companionship.

This was such a fantastic find last night for dinner at Upland. We were on our way to one of the many bar restaurants on 2nd Avenue and parked behind the buildings to walk around. This is when we ran into Patra dining and decided to try it out. The inside atmosphere is very relaxing and soothing which is a perfect backdrop to the wonderful dishes that are offered. I had Pad See Ew and really enjoyed it while my wife had the salmon with coconut curry sauce and said it was delicious. The portion sizes are very large and you will definitely walk out with a box to continue enjoying the meal the next day. This is the same owner who had the 50-Fifty restaurant in Claremont and we always enjoyed that menu. I highly recommend this restaurant as an alternative to the other offerings in downtown Upland. We will certainly return to make our way through the other menu offerings!!
