Cozy venue serving familiar Thai cooking, including noodle dishes, in a laid-back setting.
I’m currently staying at a Marriott Club Hotel, and based on their recommendation, I decided to try this restaurant with high expectations, especially given their description of it being the 'best of the best' Thai food. Unfortunately, my experience was quite the opposite. The chicken I had was greasy and undercooked, which was really disappointing. Additionally, the pineapple fried rice, which is one of my favorite Thai dishes, lacked flavor. The pineapple wasn’t grilled as it usually is, and the rice was overly greasy. I won’t be returning and would suggest taking the hotel's recommendation with a grain of salt."
Came here for dinner with a good friend of mine! I got their duck curry which was pretty good, just slightly too salty for me but overall the flavor is so good. Love the pineapples and slices of tomato in it too!
My friend got one of their fried rices, I tried a little bit of it and thought it was really good as well!
Ordered online and came around the time they estimated. It was off by maybe 5 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. It was a bit narrow so awkward to stand to wait inside. Despite how busy they were, they were very courteous. Food was overall good and I’d order take out again if in the area.
Bright cheerful murals.
Delicious food - tom yum soup, appetizer, green beans with chicken.
Didn't go with 5 stars stars because I wish food came more or less in "order" with appetizers first - rather than last, etc.
Also, tea tasted strange. Maybe a special brew? But not to our liking.
For someone who grew up in a Thai restaurant, I'm rather critical about the ones I try. I've been here twice; the first time for Thai iced coffee (a delicacy in the states) and the second to try the food. I ordered the Duck red curry with brown rice on the side, the bf got duck fried rice, and we shared angel wings as an appetizer. The food was hot, perfectly spiced, though they also provided classic Thai condiments on the side (I used the Thai chili in fish sauce for my curry, and suggested the jalapeno in vinegar to my bfs dish). We cleaned off the wings, perfectly crispy, sweet and savory, and the sauce, while not what I'm used to from my parents place, was still incredible, I could have drank the rest. The curry was wonderful, though I wish they added spinach to it, but the pineapples and red bell peppers were perfect. The fried rice was plain looking, but really quite nice. I would have added the angel wing sauce to the rice, personally, but the over flavors were gentle but still present. I wish we could have tried the roti dessert, as that's also hard to find in my experience. Most things here taste like what I recall from my childhood, and that's a huge deal to me. I will be returning to bring my family and see what they think. If you're looking for solid Thai food, this is an amazing choice.
THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD!!! Thai food is already so good with all the flavors but I’m sad I don’t live closer to this place bc it’s so good. My husband would come here when he was younger for the crab fried rice, which we ordered because I needed to try it. But we also ordered the larb, fried herb fish, yellow curry with pork, stuffed eggplants and the Thai tea. Literally all of it was so good and I’m salivating just thinking about the food. If our stomachs were bigger I probably would have ordered the noodle soup dishes and a fried noodle dish, but maybe next time..however long away that is 🥲
Authentic food. Chicken Pad Thai is a go to for me. The crab fried rice is always great. Angel wings are always satisfying as well. Good portions outside of the really small mango sticky rice. (Which taste amazing) and the Thai tea is a must but ask for less ice. (Also pretty small) I don’t suggest the chicken satay. Fair prices. Cleanliness is fair as well as the wait time. This a very small restaurant. Hardly ever find parking. Staff is very friendly. Highly recommended.

I recently ordered from white elephant and I can't stop raving about their Green Curry and Pad See Ew!
The Green Curry is a flavor explosion—perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The creamy coconut milk pairs beautifully with the fresh vegetables and tender meat, creating a dish that's both comforting and invigorating. Each bite is a delightful journey through authentic Thai flavors.
The Pad See Ew was equally impressive. The wide rice noodles were cooked to perfection, with a lovely char that added depth to the dish. The savory soy sauce complemented the fresh broccoli and tender chicken, making it a satisfying and hearty meal.
Both dishes were beautifully presented and served hot, showcasing the care and attention to detail that the chefs put into their cooking.
If you're a fan of Thai cuisine, you absolutely must try the Green Curry and Pad See Ew

Horrible service. They had forgotten about my order and I waited for 40 minutes for mid-range tasting, expensive pad thai. I do not recommend going to this restaurant.
No purpose telling me “the food is coming” only for me to wait an additional 10 minutes for the food to be ready. People who had come in after me received their food first and left before me.

The best Thai food I ever ate!!!! I recommend!
I doordashed my order had the crab fried rice and the pad Thai. I also asked level 8 spiciness and my food didn't have any kind of spice. I like spicy and wanted spicy so I ordered spicy and got plain :(
Food was delicious and good quality. The service was excellent they had an influx of to go orders and a few parties including ourselves dining in and we got great attention and service. Its a gem hidden in a small shopping center. Highly recommend!
I always order food from white elephant and always food picked up on time and today my dinner was delivered I truly appreciate there service
Food is so good that I can't stop eating I will always highly recommend everyone to try at list once believe me you won't back off
Thanks for your good service
Delicious food, lots of veggie options!
Great food always busy great help owners are very nice
Best Thai in town
This review is based on my door dash order: Tom yum shrimp soup with noodles and Pad see ew beef. The soup delivered at the perfect temperature, neither scorching hot nor lukewarm. It had a heavy aroma of lemongrass which smelled great and appetizing. The broth was sour and savory, seasoned just right with a handful of shrimp and scallions for extra flavor. Not too salty, great sipping experience. The egg noodles were a bit dry and scraggly but still enhanced the soup nonetheless. Unfortunately it’s downhill from there as the pad see ew was lacking in quantity and flavor. It was just average, nothing particularly memorable about it, almost like an afterthought. Wish they were more generous with the portion size and cooking it with TLC. Maybe it’s better eaten at the restaurant? I read many stellar reviews so maybe I was doing a disservice by ordering thru door dash?
delicious food 😋 with reasonable prices
Good food, decent pricing.
Super friendly service, good Thai food, very intimate seating
Fantastic food!
Everything is pretty mediocre except for the food. Food is disappointing……We've tried many Thai restaurants, so we've had the best as well as the worst. However, the taste and portion of the two dishes we ordered are way below our expectations. I chose beef for my pad Thai, and there were only five or six pieces of beef inside. The fish dish was supposed to be crispy and flavored with basil, but it turned out soggy and had absolutely no basil flavor. Both dishes were drenched in some spicy sauce, and that's all we could taste. Honestly, this restaurant could do much better and not waste their ingredients on such terrible dishes.
My favorite restaurant, close to my home, all food is fantastic. Good price, you should try them . The owner/ staffs are very friendly!
Jira-
This food is excellent and I can still taste all the great flavors in my mouth even after I'm done eating!!
This is like going to someone's house and enjoying a dinner of family recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation!!
Exceptional Customer Service too 👏
TASTE SO GOOD!!!!!!
Pretty solid place, the food was very tasty.
i’ve eaten here a few times and gotten takeout many more. normally the food and flavor is on point, but not sure what happened with my takeout order today. the pad see ew with tofu was burned, the broccoli was raw, and the noodles all stuck together. the spicy basil chicken is like 50% onion. bit disappointing
This was my go-to. But last time, the wings were super dry, the flavor was meh, and my green curry was super watery and bland. There was suffcient eggplant but 2 or 3 pieces of bland grainy beaf. I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe it was an off night, but this is disappointing. Hopefully, things turn around. Considering the prices, I'll wait to go back.
Very less food for the price. The food didn’t taste good at all. Extremely disappointed with this place
Fabulous little hole in the wall. Small family business I like to support
Best Thai food on the peninsula. They recently renovated and now have cool art on the walls!
Just ate today during a private party..My 3rd time here and the Food was Amazing!!!!
Económico y miy rico.
Really good Thai food in a small cozy setting, but the portion sizes make this place really expensive and not the value it used to be.
This place had the best Thai food I ever had! It was such a great experience. The server was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the shrimp rolls, chicken satay, basil fried rice, veggie Tom yum soup, pad see ew, yellow curry, and jasmine rice. Everything tasted so delicious!!
Asked for utensils on Uber eats at the special instructions and didn’t gave me any how do I’m gonna eat my food while at work, with 2 pens like chopsticks ????
This used to be my go-to Thai restaurant in the area. Unfortunately they've fallen off hard! Flavorless food and poor portions...can't recommend this place...
Not a ton of good Thai choices in this area, but this one is great and our go to for Thai food. Food is consistently good. Be warned their medium spice might not be your medium spicy. 🔥
Delicious Green Curry and Fried Tofu!!
Good service and good food
Good service. Very polite. Excellent food.
the food was very blend. service was slow - I care about the taste of the food more than the service and it was blend. Most items were around $15. It is a cheap option, but not very flavorful.
Not super good with Thai food but great value for the price. I found thier Thai iced tea to be a little too sweet… Tom Kha soup was great IMO, and mango sticky rice was good imo with lots of coconut milk and slightly sour mangos but lots of mango

Hmmmm not impressive vs price
If you live near this place and you’re craving Thai food, nothing wrong with going to White Elephant. Cozy vibes, concise menu, good service, nice home-style fare. Always remember to ask for the sauces because the base seasoning is very mild.
But, not worth going out of your way to. The flavor profile is average to below average and not wholly appealing visually either.
The green curry fried rice for example had a nice aroma, but the taste was very subdued and wanting. The tofu texture was good but could use more seasoning and more veggies could have incorporated into the dish. The chili powder helped immensely. I wouldn’t mind if I had another curry to eat the fried rice with, but the dish was unable to stand on its own.
Tasty food and incredibly fast service!
Good Thai food for this area. Portions are smaller, so you may need to order more than normal.
I ordered pad Thai. The noddles seems to have been half boiled. I didn’t like the taste too. Quantity was ok
Overall, hit and miss. It's a little shop that has no frills mom and pop vibes. An hour before closing and it was still super packed. The single server was SUPER busy but I don't blame him. My tom yum noodle soup was delicious but the pad mee was something I could have thrown together at home.
Food: 6/10
Service: 5/10
Vibes: 4/10
Value: 5/10
Not great experience overall.
Authentic and delicious
Worst Thai food I had in a long time. Pad Thai noodles were overcooked. Cheap cuts of chicken in all dishes -expected better for the prices they charge. Sause in the panang curry is runny and bland. The curry had unpleasant huge chucks of ginger and lemongrass . Egg rolls were ok.
Best Thai spot around! Love the crab fried rice. Their that iced tea is so yummy.
My recent favorite place for Thai food. Very authentic, reasonably priced, and good portion sizes.
I ordered the cashew nut and it was the worst Thai food I’ve ever had in my life. All prawns and only onions for veggies. Awful
This is my new to go spot for Thai food. Their food are so tasty with the high quality. The price is reasonable. They offer good services.
Delicious food. Good portions. Reasonably priced.

Excellent Thai food. Very popular neighborhood restaurant. Another good meal tonight.
Rica comida!
Great food - very flavorful
Delicious Penang chicken curry delicious panang chicken curry
Excellent 👌 food and service!
Veggie options are okayish
Was so disappointed, was visiting from out of town, they were near SFO. Ordered from the hotel. When I arrived the whole road had restaurants and they had by far the best business was really looking forward to the dinner. The pad Thai was over the top too sweet to taste anything else. Basically rice noodles, chicken & tofu. I had said no onions but had expected bean sprouts, peanuts, some veggies. The chicken salad was even worse, again we had said no onions, OMG must have pulled out a 1/2 cup of onions, real small portion and meat must have been the scraps they couldn't use in the satay all fat and gristle.
The people were nice and friendly and working hard the reason for 2 stars instead of one.
Portion size a little on small side.
Bought Yellow Curry which seemed to have thin broth & only had sparse amounts potato & pea (didn't see any other veggies).
The Green Curry had a good amount of eggplant and basil & was really good.
Place is a little cramped and there’s a tiny waiting area so you’re basically stuck waiting outside.
Other than that the food is really good and the staff are friendly and great.
I always get their curry it’s really good and the portions are adequate.
I tried their pad Thai, panang curry and chicken Wings.
It doesn't give an authentic Thai food taste.
Panang curry contains too much watery, uncooked chicken.
Pad Thai was tangy flavour.
Average food
Not friendly costumer service waitres very rude !!!!! Food not good !!! My first time coming to this place drove from San Mateo, very disappointed , this people don’t understand that as a costumer we have the option to many other places to go eat and when we bring our business to you , and we should be treated with respect , be friendly to your costumers , we are paying you we are not beggars!!!
One of the best places to eat!
Elephants served here.
The stuffed eggplant was good and the fried fish was also well done. So good was good. Dine in experience was disappointing. There are so many flies! And the waitress talks over you and brought me the wrong drink and then never returned with the right drink. And then when it came to the check she'd come back repeatedly asking if there's anything else only to remember we asked for the check. So it was like living in deja vu. No parking so must find a spot on the street although it seemed like there was plenty of residential street parking.
Great food! Don't underesstimate the amount in the to-go containers. it's a lot more than you'd expect! Definitely looking forward to coming back. My default is the Pad Thai with Chicken and Pad See Ewe with Beef and Silver Noodles. Enjoy!
Great flavors. Got all veggie options.
Pad thai could 7se a little more sauce. But def great Thai flavors.
Went here for dinner. Ordered the spicy eggplant with beef and pork belly. The place wasn’t too busy when we got there. I asked twice for spicy for the eggplant and when the food arrived the food wasn’t spiced at either dishes we asked for. Regardless the food still tasted good, but didn’t have the kick requested multiple times.
The food was delicious as usual.
I was on vacation in South SF and looking for someplace open and close to the hotel I was staying at. I found White Elephant Restaurant and I a glad I did. I ordered Pad Kee Mao, Jasmine rice, stuffed eggplant and mild basil duck. My favorite was the stuffed eggplant (stuffed with fish paste with prawns in a green curry sauce. I had never had a dish like this at other Thai restaurants and fell in love with the flavors. Will be marking this spot on my places to eat in SoSF. It's a quaint but is roomy.
Home made food!
Great variety all around, fell in love with this place and literally went 3 times in a week
Food is fantastic! Will be back for more...😍
Good food and delicios
Good service; Spicy Basil Chicken is my fave but I’ll ask them to make a bit more spicier. Their Rotee is delicious for dessert; recommended & definitely will come back. Good customer service is also a plus!!!
Food is really good. Loved the Tofu deluxe!!
Good eatery. Decent food. Try their tamarind fish, it's very tasty. I highly recommend it!
Great little place that has been here a while. Good menu selection and kind service adds up to a yummy dining experience.
Good foods but over priced for the portions
I’ve eaten at White Elephant a number of times and the food is really good. Pre-COVID, when you could actually dine in the restaurant, the portions were generous and you could actually share. Now that everything is to-go, the portions have literally been cut in half. I ordered the spicy bamboo basil dish with beef and was so disappointed when I got home to find only a few pieces of meat.
The food is delicious, and real Thailand prepared. Small place but it's clean and all the staff are polite and courteous. I recommend this place for small or medium group. But because of pandemic, limited for sitting capacity.
Great Thai food
Delicious thai tea
Great Thai food in SSF. Amazing pineapple fried rice.
my go to thai place now that my place in San Francisco is closed. I'll drive to get my spicy basil bamboo calamari and tofu...8/10 spicy with steamed rice noodles not rice and prawn rolls...mmm bacon wrapped shrimp wrapped in wonton skin
Order to go. Got a garlic noodle meal and my wife got pineapple fried rice. Ordered and food was ready in under 5 minutes.
That should have been a red flag. Her rice is old and dry, my noodles and meat have no flavor. Noodles taste like they were boiled and thrown on some bland veggies and meat.
Highly disappointed and I love Thai food.
Great flavors
One of the best Thai restaurants around here! Try the mango sticky rice for dessert
Consistently good but casual.
Best Thai Food! Great customer service!
Ok.
Surprisingly good food for such a tiny, out of the way place.
Food was very sweet. Too much sugar imo.
Excellent pad thai!!
Every single dish we got here was DELICIOUS! Even my 2yr old loved it. We came right as they opened, and there was a short wait by the time we were leaving.
I love this place! Food is amazing! I usually come here for dinner and it is always packed! Which is a good sign that this place is good!
Best Thai food in South City!
Sea food Tom Yum is great!
Good food!
Great curries spiced to your request. Tasty sticky rice dessert. Consistently good.
Pumpkin curry with chicken was delicious
Food is delicious. Staff friendly
This place makes the best green curry I've ever had. Top stars for kind service, and downright addictive food.
