Kao Sook Thai Cuisine is a traditional family - owned restaurant, bringing intricate flavors and wonderful aromas of Thai herbs and spices to the table. Our homestyle setting is welcoming for families to gather, couples’ night out, or a quick lunch break.
Good place in the area to stop by and have lunch. Plenty of parking available. We ordered drunken noodles and spicy basil fried with tofu and some Thai tea. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. Plenty of vegetarian options available. Friendly staff, clean space and quick service.
We got the lunch combo specials. Food was okay. I'm from Sacramento and the Thai food out here has treated me so nice! They give you a vegetarian soup thing. Taste like lemon grass and coconut- not sure I liked it to be honest. The coffee is strong and tasty. Service was quick but kinda felt a bit rushed. Not super busy either.
An unassuming mom and pop kinda place where the staff is incredibly nice and attentive. Food is definitely very much catered toward Americans, but in this area, you can't really blame them. Plus sometimes I kind of do crave American Thai food just like how sometimes I crave orange chicken from Panda Express. My meal was a little too salty, but the lunch special was $13.95 - really hard to beat that price anywhere around here.
This is a good option for people who like Thai food. The service is fast, the food is good. You can request it mild spicy, or extra spicy. I like it extra spicy.
Я люблю pad se ew, но в этом ресторане он не вкусный и Thai iced tea был слишком сладкий .я не смог его выпить. Так же ресторан не доставил не палочек ,не вилки.

The food was good. We ordered it to go. I guess thai food is expensive. I wish I had more money to get more stuff. We got pad thai and potstickers. Pretty pricy but that's scotts valley for ya. :(
Friendly and Quick service. Had the best curry of my life here.
Good food, decent prices, good service. The place is tiny and there's a lot of to go traffic coming and going, but the food and service make up for that.
The Tom, Yum soup and chicken with Thai basil are great, decent ambience, very good service
I get take out here a few times a month. It's a favorite for my family. Always quick, good, and prices are fair.
Best Thai food around. This is our go-to take out restaurant in town. The Tom Yum soup is outstanding.
Great place for local good food.
Great Thai food, honestly some of the best I've had. Highly recommend!
The restaurant looks decent, but I wish that their online order system would remind me to add rice (extra charge) for my chicken basil entree. I also had to ask for utensils for my to do oder. I am looking for better serive for my to-go order.
Excellent every time! The portions are large, food is always delicious, service great and the place is so clean. We have been going here for 10+ years and never had a bad experience.
Delicious pumpkin curry, large pieces of fresh, delicate veggies.
Love the food, flavor, service, and people at Kao Sook! Always a friendly server and the food is amazing!
Yum!

The service was quite poor and unprofessional, the server was talking while waking in a rush when there were just 2 other customers. The servers were talking loudly with the kitchen staff through the window making it unpleasant dinner experience. They even charge for to-go containers!
Mango curry had raw tasteless mangoes, and the noodles were decent. The service was poor, and there was a lot of loud chatter from the kitchen which was quite audible in the dining area. And this place charges for to-go containers, something which I've rarely seen in other places.
The Thai Coconut soup with vegetables was delicious and the sweet & sour dish was also.
Yellow Curry seemed very watered down and flavorless. Besides that everything else we ordered was flavorful.
Just left this place and spent $30+ on Fried rice only. I got highly offended at the way I was just treated like a thief, child and disregarded as a human. I ordered online and waited outside the Resturant at the door for the order to be done. While waiting I watched many people go in and out and simply pick up their to go order. So in my attempt to do the same, I was rudely approached like a thief and treated like I child. The older lady asked for my receipt and then acted as if she wasn’t familiar with her own check out system and made me show her my name, receipt and with an attitude she checked and then shoo’ed me away with her hand. This isn’t my 1st time there. I’ve sat and watched customer come along and simply pick up their orders on another day. Good food but I definitely won’t be back
Tried this place for the first time the other night and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the staff were all very nice. Looking forward to going back to try a few more dishes. I think we've finally found our local spot for Thai!
Great Food!

Rude to doordash drivers, had to wait once for 1hr, had 1 order already ready and didn't say anything and waited for 20 min before they said anything
Great Thai food at reasonable prices.
Great service, very friendly people.
I liked the food but that's been one of the worst services I've ever experienced. Not shy in showing what guests they prefer to serve and which color to ignore.
I thought we were over that.
Walking in... There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant and the server kept pretending to look around us before helping us. Had to ask for water, napkins, menus and chopsticks. I ordered food that came out ten minutes after people that arrived ten minutes after we did received their food.
The server then made sure to check in with all the other patrons how their meals were, multiple times. If you are guessing if he checked on us... The answer is, of course not.
Everyone else that came to the restaurant received prompt service and with an actual smile... Except us.
The only thing that I could see that was different was I was the only black person in the restaurant. My fiance is white.
If I could give zero stars I would.
New owners and new things on the menu. Still tasty but I miss the pumpkin curry!
This is the best Thai restaurant near Santa Cruz. The Thai fried rice was tasty and properly made. The fried shrimp rolls were also great.
Really tasty food. Atmosphere so so...
Wonderful food and service. The bathrooms are nice and clean.
Easily 1 of if not the best thai place in santa cruz , I haven't been to Thailand yet but I'd still consider this to be if not the most authentic then at least top 3 most authentic Thai places in Santa Cruz definitely great service here....
A bit pricey, but delicious!
Nice ambience. Very tasty food. Eggplant delight in chef’s recommendations was really good.
Really good food and a nice atmosphere. Everyone seems to know everyone else and the staff is very friendly. Their Thai iced tea is one of the better versions I've had.
Good food with fast and friendly service. Great place to grab a quick bite for lunch or dinner. Take out is also a great option. Parking is not a problem, plenty of spaces.
Food was very blank.
Fresh food. Good options for vegetarians
Not so great, very limited veg option and taste is bland for both veg and non-veg.
Best Thai food in the area.
My favorite Thai place! The coconut milk soup, Pad Thai & curries are the best. The service is also very friendly, one of the waitstaff remembers my preferences even though I don't go for months on end. FYI for those with children, there is a painting with a topless woman in the restroom - I don't mind but some might.
Very friendly service and tasty food!
Passed through on our way back home and loved it. Service and food were 5/5.
Friendly staff, tasty dishes and reasonable prices. Exceeded my expectations
First time here and it was delicious! We got the curry, pineapple fried rice, veggie pad Thai, and the coconut water was fire! Definitely need a full tall glass of it. Highly recommend sweet and sour sauce w the chicken satay.
The staff working there were vary nice and professional, as well as a wonderful environment to enjoy your food.
Decent thai in Scotts Valley. I often get the fish cakes n green curry. Had the Tom Ka soup which was quite different for a change. Only minus got rice for 2 =6$!!! I wont do thst again!
Good service.
Lad Nah
The best Thai food I’ve ever had, eat here multiple times per week and they know us and our usual order. They are so kind and helpful. Absolutely recommend to everyone!
I recommend their noodle dishes and special plates. The curry here is not quite rich enough with coconut milk, but the other menu items still make this place a very worthwhile option. The staff is great. The lunch combination is a staple.
Great Staff and amazing food. Kao Sook does not disappoint. If you want a recommendation and don't mind some spice, I always go with the Pad Kee Mao and Spicy basil fried rice :)
The best of the best of the best. My favorite Thai food in the county - possibly my favorite Thai food of all-time.
Staff is kind, patient, and the food never disappoints.
I am not normally a Google review writer, but here I had to. Friendliest service, most delicious food - and very good prices. When I am back in the area, I will be sure to visit again. Thank you!!
We eat here regularly and always enjoy our meals. For our 50th wedding anniversary we had Kai Sook cater the dinner party. We were so happy with the results. The guests loved the food. They had food ready on time and gave good advice beforehand. We highly recommend this Scott’s Valley Thai restaurant.
Large portions for the price!
Ordered a Tom Yum Soup with seafood, and one Pad Thai with chicken and one with beef. Was very happy with the Tom Yum, as the seafood was full of variety and flavor. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai (both chicken and beef) tasted very dry and definitely were missing something. I had to throw both Pad Thai’s away...
A great Thai food place! I love the environment and food!
I recommend the Mee Pad (long noodles with sprouts, lettuce, carrots, and other vegetables. You can pick your choice of meat!) I also extremely like the Fried Banana ice cream! The combination of ice cream and fried banana is delicious!
Wonderful! Clearly well loved, the friendly staff were familiar with several of the other customers who came in to get their dinners (that the restaurant has regulars is always a good sign). We ordered a Thai tea with pearl to sip as we waited for our food, the Yellow Curry with Chicken, and Pad Kee Mao with Pork.
Thai tea was balanced, sweet and creamy and the boba were delightful. The Yellow Curry was tasty and the steamed white rice (on the side) was very nice with it. The Pad Kee Mao says spicy, but, I found it to be maybe a low medium spice level and if I were to order again I'd ask for it a little hotter even. That's not to say that the flavors weren't incredibly enjoyable. Because they were. Loved both of our dishes. There were such generous portions that my wife needed me to help her finish hers and I couldn't finish both mine and the remaining of hers.
Good Tom Yum soup, I'd prefer pork but choices are chicken and poison (tofu). Basil pork was tasty, my coworker ordered brown rice so I will do that next time. They put rice on top of entree so all for it on side if you don't want it mixed. I got the combo of 6 and 29, grilled pork was small portion, but tasty. They use pork loin which to me is less flavorful than other cuts. I'd love to be able to order dark pork and dark chicken. Try it.
Excellent thank you
Absolutely amazing! Everything on their menu is delicious.
Food quality is great, the curries (especially the pumpkin) are very flavorful and we're full of veggies and the chicken ordered. Tons of care was put into the packing of the food, which made it easy to transport home. Also the team there made pickup super easy and fast!
I absolutely love this place. The Man my husband spoke too on the phone was very kind and professional. If you like spicy 🌶 this is the place. The Combo seafood Pad Thai and spring rolls are To die for. We will be returning.
Fresh spring rolls and Pad Thai on a hot summer day, so refreshing! Takeout was super easy!
Discovered the gems of Thai food,
Great Thai foods, superb quality, fast service, you won’t be disappointed,
Would go back for more any time we are in the area,
All great qualify and beyond, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
DELICIOUS!
The best Thai food ever! 💜💜💜💜💜
My review is this: Yum, yum.yum-yum-yum-yummy and mostly yummy with great portions of yumness.
Very great food.nice atmosphere great service . My favorite Thai spot in Santa Cruz county.
Best Thai food in town, hands down.
Our favorite thai food place. So good!
We went in to eat tonight and sat down. We waited for water and a chance to order. Another couple came in after we were seated. The waitress seemed to know them. Brought them water and took their order. We decided to leave and go to ABC Chinese down the street. I called to explain why we left and the waitress explained to me that we had arrived AFTER the other couple. POOR service. We have been in before but I think I'm over this place.
Really great food and great service would definitely recommend.
We always go back to Kao Sook because the food is so so good and the people are so friendly and caring.
A hidden gem in Scotts Valley. Great food and wonderful staffs!
Muy buen sabor de comida
Eat here maybe once a week. We just love love love it. Especially the fresh rolls.
Fresh. Love the panang curry
Amazing restrant

Coconut seafood soup is excellent. Friendly service.
Great food and service
Food is great. We shared the dishes around and all were excelkent
This is the Thai restaurant I go to all the time. Best in town!
Just shut up and get the pumpkin curry. Amazing.
I eat here every time I'm in town and enjoy the excellent staff and their service.
The food is awesome and I have many favorites on the menu including the yellow curry, pad se ew, mee pad, tom kha soup, and the house salad with peanut sauce dressing.
The quality and customer service is too good.
Great food. Great price. Ordered take out for my family, because the other Thai place in SV was closed, even though the hours stated they were open. I drove all the way down from Bonny Doon. I didn't even know Kaosook existed. Super happy to find this place, we will be coming back again.
Great food, great service!
I love this place! The food is excellent everytime. Probably the best restaurant in Scott's Valley. Also, reasonably priced!
Wonderful staff...great food....love this place
Delicious and authentic Thai. Everything, from the sticky rice, red curry, tom kha ghai was delicious. Wish we lived closer!
Always has delicious food, my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. I also give Pacifc Thai Santa Cruz 5 stars but Kao Soon is still my favorite, I love their curries and their sour soup is the most flavorful I have had. I highly recommend it
Good Thai food. Best Thai in Scotts Valley.
Cozy environment and great food!
