I definitely recommend this place! The food was delicious, the service was great and the establishment was clean. We ordered pineapple and yellow curry along with drunken noodles and pad-see-ew and had mango sticky rice for dessert and it was all very delicious with very good flavor. The price is on the higher end, the curry portions were very good, the noodle portions could have been better, overall we had a good experience and a great meal. Gratuity/Tip will be included in the bill with 6+ eating together.

The food is very very fresh and comes out hot! You control the spice level and the service is excellent! There is an extensive menu of dishes I can’t start to pronounce, however they have descriptions and pictures to help with your decisions. I liked Thai food before but after eating at Onny’s I LOVE THAI FOOD! I find myself craving it at least once a week. Try this Onny’s and you’ll never eat Thai anyplace else, it’s that good! And no it’s not expensive but comparable to other Thai restaurants but you get large servings! You’ll fight over the leftovers!

The picture and cultural fact-filled menu alone is an experience! We ordered Mango sticky rice, pad Thai and Mango cashew shrimp salad and honestly the taste was extraordinary...SO flavorful I could have drunk the leftover sauces (I may or may not have from my leftovers.) The Mango cashew Salad especially recommend if you like unique and robust flavors. Sat outside because inside smelled a little off but decor felt like an authentic Thai atmosphere. Flies outside (dont think there is much of a fix for that) and had to ask for a different glass because Mason jar lid area wasn't that clean. Despite all of those happenstance details would 100 percent go again just for the Mango Cashew Salad and Pad Thai!

It is ncie that they also give you a side dish, you can choose from a fried spring roll, fresh roll or salad. I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea, this was very good tasting. The Pad Thai, super nice, crushed it and really enjoyed it.

Had the coconut milk soup.. delicious! My husband had the asparagus and shrimp dish and I had the orange chicken and we both had brown rice. Was so good because it was fresh ingredients. The crab rangoon is so good but it's getting too expensive so we'll have to not order it unfortunately. The other restaurants charge about $8 for the same amount and size.

Onny's Thai Restaurant was great! I'm so glad we found this place. I ordered the Tofu Pad Thai. I was so full but couldn't stop eating it because the flavors were so delicious! Best Thai food in the Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, & San Marcos area! This place is amazing and operated by GREAT people who are professional and courteous. I just ordered delivery from here and we ordered mango and sticky rice and all we got was a wad of rice wrapped in plastic wrap and foil. No mango, no sauce. We ordered fresh veggie spring rolls and the rolls didn't have any noodles in them.

Thank you for the reply Bill. I didn't see that the fresh rolls came with Plum sauce. My bad, but on the 2 other issues. The picture on DD showed the whole mango rice dish so we mistakenly thought that was the dish. The fresh rolls description said there were noodles in it. I can text you the photos if you prefer. Appreciate the reply though.

I have been going to Onny's Thai very regularly for the past 3 years. It's always a treat, the owners are great and the food never disappoints. The Khao-soi dish with chicken is my absolute favourite. The curries are excellent and so is the pad Thai. The crab cream cheese ragoon starters are another favourite. Portions are generous too. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Highly recommended

I had the lunch special yellow curry and it was pretty great. I asked for a 10 on the spicy and it was a little bit too spicy but still totally good. That's what a 10 should be 🙂

They have a selection of craft beer on tap from the stone brewing company.

Also, the lunch special came with a spring roll. A nice addition that most places don't offer.

Onny's Thai has to be the best Thai restaurant in North County. Onny's has great ambiance, service and amazing food. The owners Bill and Onny are extremely friendly. We have always seen them attend to every single customer personally, even on the busiest day. They have a great lunch menu, Happy Hour, and draft beers on tap. I would highly recommend Khao Soy and Drunken Noodles.

I was very disappointed in our waitress. When I ordered 2 dishes she made a face and said "that's a lot". I was sharing with my mom and we also love to bring home leftovers. It made me feel insecure my entire stay. At the end she even commented "You guys hardly ate anything and made another face." The orange chicken was amazing though, best I have ever had.

Seriously $55 for supper tough beef drunken noodles, rubbery calamari and fried shrimp??The beef drunken was tough cause he dropped the beef in boiling water then tossed it into the sauce ,i know this cause i got there early and saw him do this. Super bland on every dish , i get calamari cause it can be tricky but the beef drunken noodles is another story.

Please do better with the green curry. I used to love your green curry but the last two times have been disappointing. The last time the cook overdid it with the cornstarch and this time it’s super watery. Please use limited starch and more coconut milk again. Eating this was so disappointing.

Onny's Thai is a quaint restaurant that serves delicious Thai food. The 'Drunken Noodles' were fantastic and the Thai Tea was some of the best I've had. Don't forget to try the spring rolls and crab rangoons!

Every aspect of the restaurant is perfect with nice servers to many items to choose from. It's my favorite Thai restaurant.

Great food, front of house seems like she doesn't want to work. Calling in is pointless as someone answers then hangs up. They also state they close at 9, yet arriving at 8:30 front at house claims they are closed. Some change in staff would do great for this local gem with great food.

Moved to San Marcos a year ago. This place is across the street. It’s so good! Onny is so sweet. She always chats with everyone. The food is always great and very reasonably priced! The service is always great. So friendly. Best Thai food in the area!

Pretty nice thai food and friendly server. Having the option of brown rice to choose from is definitely an added plus. I got the red curry with chicken at level 7 spiciness and it wasn't overly unbearable, so for folks who (think) they can take spicy can crank it up a notch. The mango sticky rice looked weird at first glance, but it is a solid mango sticky rice after all. All in all I can recommend Onny's Thai Restaurant.

I came in from out of town and decided to grab dinner from this place. Food is really good but the white guy and the front desk is SO UNPROFESSIONAL!
He reprimanded the waitress, within a ear shot of customers, spoke about his frustration with the work he does daily, and when that wasn’t bad enough he was eating when new customers walked in and told them to sit wherever they wanted. I sat there for twenty minutes. As I stood up to leave, he finally asked me if I was being helped 🤦🏾‍♀️

This was our first time here, we are always looking for places like this that are family owned and operated. I had the chicken drunken noodles and my wife had the chicken panang curry. They were delicious. We were told by our waiter they had half priced spring rolls which we ordered. They were really good. We will definitely come back for more.

I've been to this place several times in the past during lunch with coworkers and I always liked my food, but this time I had just come back from a trip to Phuket, Thailand where I had Pad Thai almost everyday and let me tell you... Their Pad Thai was just as good! A little on the pricey side, but delicious. I'll be back again.

I got the tilapia and shrimp with brown rice. The tilapia was not overcooked and well seasoned. I thought there was too much sauce. I don't like the fish or veggies drowning in the sauce like that. The shrimp was bomb! I think they sauteed the veggies separately from the shrimp. It was one of the most tastiest shrimp I've ever eaten. Kinda taste like it was smoked! It was ridiculously good. When I'm back in the area, I would go back for the shrimp. You can find it in the appetizer section. So goooooooooood. The tall Caucasian male server was horrible at his job. It would took him forever to bring me water and then forever to bring me a straw. Forever to take my order. My appetizer came out after my entree. The restaurant was not full and it took almost an hour to get my food. If you're starving, go elsewhere. Unless, you want your patience tested.

Fresh ingredients and amazing menu. We loved every bite. Patrick and Pattie were as friendly as you could ever want in your servers. They were so attentive and on the ball. We will definitely come back!

We had a wonderful dinner. The menus are very cool. We had spectacular service! We shared green papaya salad (perfect, not too sweet!), tom kha soup (lots of yummy veggies! and great flavor), pad see-ew (delicious) and massamum curry (which was great, but they did over cook the tofu, but the rest of it was great). We'll definitely be back!

One of the best experiences

Went there on friday 14th of October at 9.10 a guy was ordering in front of me, waited my turn than she told me sorry we are close I pointed out that it says 9.30 on their door on Google and yelp and she said it was before covid. I asked why the guy in front of me got to order and she just said sorry.
I don't think this is the right kind of customer service the kitchen didn't looked already closed down and even if it was true what she was saying you should honor the opening hours posted on your door!

3 stars because there was no music. Very very quiet. Small, nice. The crab ragoons are good.

The best delicious coconut soup

Onny’s drunken noodles are my favorite in all of SoCal! I loved takeout from here so much that I did dine in and it was even better with the ambience and super friendly staff!

Tom Yum soup was outstanding!

Took 30+ min to get the food and they do not have enough servers. The same person is taking orders, cleaning tables and serving your food and preparing to go orders. Aparently there is another person cooking. Food was OK but was expecting more for that high price. You also pay extra for chicken or rice in some dishes.

Great family run place. Son up front making sure to get you just what you want. Great food fresh and delicious. It’s a thia place. You’ll get what you expect.

Sesame chicken and shrimp fry rice is a great combination. The service was very good. We will visit again.

Had to wait 15 minutes past the provided pick up time.
When I was already 5 minutes away I received a call that they forgot to put the soup in the bag.
They were very friendly and apologetic.
What frustrated me the most though was the 15 minute wait after arriving at the provided pickup time.
The food itself was good but not hot anymore after the back and forth.
I’ll keep looking around for my Thai food place.

Awesome food, the fried banana coconut pineapple ice cream is the bomb!

This evening was our first time to dine here. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. We ordered Tom Yum soup, fried spring rolls and pineapple fried rice. Everything was fresh and hot. The flavors were good but not the best we’ve had and that’s the only reason I didn’t give it a five star review. There was plenty of food for two and we ended up bringing home about half of the plate of fried rice. We would come back, but probably try some different dishes next time.

I came at 9 when their hours say close at 9:30 and once I entered the employee told me "sorry we are closed." If this is a matter of the employees not getting paid to clean up after closing time then the owners need to pay the employees for clean up time. If it isn't about that, then you just lost paying customers. I was getting to-go food and only a small amount.

Went there a 30 minutes before they closed. They are a little short staffed but Bill the manager said he would seat us. We ordered appetizers, 2 entrees, soups and a meal to go. The food was all amazing. The coconut milk and wonton soup were out of those world. Salt and pepper shrimp appetizer was perfect. This food was better than any other Thai restaurant we've been to. You have to try this place. I forgot to mention that all of the service was helpful and kind. Our new favorite place.

This place came highly recommended so we went for dinner on a Friday night. There was no wait because we went at 8:00 p.m. but the place was still packed.
The owner and husband of the head chef greeted us while we were eating and he was wonderfully kind. Everyone who helped us including our server was so fast and efficient and friendly.
Pumpkin curry, the salt and pepper shrimp and the garlic pepper chicken. Everything was incredible. I've been to many different Thai restaurants and this was exceptional flavor!

Staff is kind and friendly. Good energy however, I ordered the drunken noodles and fried calamari. They say you get what you pay for but the Calimari was so far the worst I've ever had. It was like fast food quality. Paid almost $13 for a ridiculous amount of over cooked over fried dry Calimari. All pieces where the same. The noodles where ok but too salty and too much garlic. I won't be ordering from here again.

Best Thai food around. The owner is a culinary artist that is always trying to improve every dish. The pineapple fried rice (with brown rice) is my favorite!

Everything is made fresh, and the flavor is fantastic, especially the tofu. The tofu has this wonderful grilled/smokey taste that I can't get enough of.

The customer service, however, consistently frustrates me. If it weren't for the quality of the food, I wouldn't bother returning. But again, their food has me hooked.

Should change hours to say open til 9. Tried to order food at 9:09 and they said had to have order in before 9 and this is on a Friday night. I thought I finally found a place open past 9 so I could have Thai food after work. Seemed like I could order 20 minutes before they closed but I guess not.

My boyfriend and I decided to come here after seeing all the other amazing reviews. Our expectations were already high and they did not disappoint! It’s owned by the sweetest couple. Bill was so welcoming and helpful, Onny was also so sweet and her food is definitely the best Thai food around. We ordered the pineapple fried rice (so delicious) and the chicken pad thai. We also tried the coconut soup and my boyfriend melted in his seat. Overall 10/10 experience. We were too full to try dessert but we will be coming back for sure! Thank you so much bill and onny!

So here we were, on the road and hungry for some kind of curry. Caught this place on the corner and decided to try it out. Turns out, we made the right move.

The staff is extremely friendly and ready to set you up with anything you need or want. The curry was absolutely delicious. We had Panang curry with beef, Yellow curry with chicken and one with shrimp, Massaman curry with beef, chicken satay, fried tofu, and spring rolls. Of course there was white rice and brown rice.

Now if you ask what we like best...we have to say ALL OF IT. The quantity and quality was well above what we expected. To ne, quality overrides quantity any day of the week. They give both. If there is one thing I would complain about it's we live too far from Onny's Thai Restaurant. This would be a regular stop for us without a doubt.

By the way, everything is packaged up perfectly. Not one leak anywhere and they double bagged when needed so we wouldn't worry about a bag breaking on us.

I highly recommend a stop here if you're ready for some excellent Thai food. Enjoy!

Hands down - the absolute best Thai curry around. It’s the ONLY place that has been able to reach the spice levels I look for. Every time I eat here, my mind is blown with how amazing their meals are. And not to mention, extremely friendly staff. I switched debit cards not too long ago, and accidentally left home with the wrong one, and embarrassingly wasn’t able to pay for my meal. They didn’t even miss a beat. Very politely told me no big deal, just come back tomorrow and pay. Love this place!

Whenever I get to choose where we eat, I choose Onny's Thai. Such a friendly and welcoming environment with great food. Unfortunately it's hard to go with big groups, because there are only small tables, but it's perfect for a group of 2-4 and maybe 5. Highly recommend!

The food seems good but I'm not a great judge of Thai food. My issue is I've ordered here 4 times, once for a large business lunch. The problem with the other 3 times, I've ordered 3 to 5 lunch specials, specifically mentioned it was the lunch special, and still charged $3-4 more than the advertised $8.95. I figured the first 2 times maybe I ordered wrong or I was going off old menu. This time, I specifically said it was the lunch special twice and when there, saw the window and stating $8.95 Lunch Special, still over charged. Yes, I should have said something when there but I really hate any kind of conflict. And frankly the extra $9 bucks was worth what would have been an embarrassment. Third time was definitely not a charm.

food was ok but average...the service was not very good...was ok but probabaly better service at Denny's, the ladies were slow and pushy...they just dumped plates on our table and expected us to pass out to each other...just not very relaxing.

This is an excellent local restaurant. Service here is, quite frankly, terrible. But the food is worth it all.

Very disappointed in my order this time. I have ordered from there since they opened. The portion size this time was half of what I normally get. A $12 soup should be the entire container . Not sure if I am going to invest in them anymore.

Order pad thai beef, red curry chicken and yum beef salad. Pad thai and curry was good, beef salad felt rush and ingredients wasn't up to par. We were a family of 7 but first dinner guest for the evening. Notice a customer or 2 walk out, need more than 2 server for a Saturday night evening. Below average need room for improvements.

On the floor service here has always been really quick, but the servers can only go as fast as the kitchen. Appetizers come out fairly quickly, however the main dishes take a little longer than normal wait time. The quality of the food is delicious so if they need to take more time in the kitchen to consistently produce quality dishes than I get that. Otherwise the speed of the kitchen is my only complaint on the main dishes.

Delicious, healthy, friendly, fast, and frugal-friendly. To-Thai-ly awesome! ;-x

Good food, but not great

Finally a place that makes "Thai spicy", "12/10" spicy enough for me! It's a strange complaint for sure, but I seem to never be able to find a Thai, Indian, or Chinese restaurant that will prepare their food SPICY enough for me. When I say 12/10, I'm not joking around or speaking out of hubris. I enjoy eating fire. FINALLY I found a restaurant that takes me seriously when I say, "My tastebuds are broken; I need it spicier than you can even fathom to enjoy it." THANK YOU, Onny's Thai Bistro for taking this white girl serious in her quest for heat!

Food and service was great. It was our first time there. We tried the pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles and chow main. Spice level was appropriate to what we requested.

Excellent food. The restaurant itself is small and cozy, and the staff is genuinely friendly and fun.

Good place. Not too expensive and good variety.

Great food yet every time I go, it smells of sewer.
EDIT: Since this review, I have been back several times and the smell of curry has a welcoming presence. Changing my review from a 3 to 4.
