Our Thai food is inspired from dishes in central part of Thailand. Japanese ramen is also Chef Tee's specialty that he would like to present with his own way of cuisine. We seek to offer a different dining experience using high quality seasonal produce, and locally sourced ingredients. We hope that you will be indulged from our collection of Thai and Japanese dishes that we have created. Let the sunshine take you to Japan and the moonlight take you to the streets of Thailand.
Thai and Japanese restaurant, although I would say the menu leans more to Thai, with ramen being the Japanese highlight.
Plenty of seating, we visited on a Sunday evening and it was not overly busy.
Food:
We ordered the Lunar wings, crispy chicken wings with a spicy sauce. I could definitely taste the fish sauce in this dish. Was a tad salty for me, could definitely eat it with some rice on the side. Wings were all flats, which honestly was a bonus for me.
Then, as recommended by the reviews we ordered the pa lo stew which is braised pork belly and it comes with a braised garbled hardboiled egg and rice on the side. The pork belly was tender and fatty, the sauce brought notes of clove/cinnamon. Definitely a salty rice-chaser dish, again, a bit salty for me.
Lastly was the pad see you, thick stir fried noodles, you can choose your protein but we ordered ours with beef. I liked that it came with a decent amount of greens too. Deliciously flavored, the texture of the noodles is quite good. Solid dish.
Prices are fair. Service is a bit lacking, seemed like there were only 1.5 servers for 6+ tables.
Still I would return and recommend, a great place for Asian food in this area. There are lots of other dishes I’m interested in trying like the curry and the ramen.
Seating:
Plenty of seating to accommodate big parties and small ones.
In a recent visit to a this eatery, I encountered notable issues. Despite reserving a table for a mobility-challenged guest, the out-of-service elevator was a significant oversight not communicated to us. The food, while well-presented, offered a quirky twist on crab cakes, with crab atop corn cakes. Dishes in general tended towards sweetness, lacking desired spiciness and flavor as one would expect in Thai cuisine. Overall, the experience had potential but fell short in execution, I’m hopeful for operational improvement and giving it another shoot.
I recently visited Sun & Moon, a Thai and Japanese fusion restaurant in San Francisco, and I was blown away by the experience. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the decor of the restaurant was stylish and modern. But most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. The flavors were well balanced, and the dishes were beautifully presented. The menu had a great variety of options, and I can't wait to go back and try more.
I was also impressed by the sports bar area, it was perfect for watching games, and I don't understand why more people don't come here for that. I highly recommend Sun & Moon for anyone looking for delicious food, great atmosphere and an awesome place to catch the game.
This is a cozy Thai fusion restaurant behind a nondescript entrance along the street. The service can be slow, but the food is pretty decent. Drinks are gorgeous, though err on the sweeter side. I normally go for the Thai food, but it's always slightly undercooked. Like the rice can be less moist or the noodles could have adhered the sauce better. Always have a good time coming in with a group though. They have vegetarian options, so it makes it easy to find something for everyone
Staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Super friendly and attentive
Ambiance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very clean. Love the plants and modern furniture but feels a little like a boutique hotel lobby
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation is great but looks better than it is. Everything was cooked perfectly but flavors are a bit off for me. For example, pad Thai has a very strong orange peel taste, corn fritters would have been better without the crab meat.
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while as a fan of both Thai and Japanese food. However, food was not a fusion place like I had imagined. There is Thai food and then a small section for ramen. Despite the good reviews on here, my friends and I had a not so good experience. There were only two people working the whole restaurant front (host, waiter, bar tender, busser), so the service was very slow from the start even getting seated. The food we got (satay chicken and pad Thai) was very mediocre, lacking in flavor. Our drinks (Tom yum cocktail and beer) came out AFTER we were already done eating. The cocktail was so unbalanced and sour, I had to send it back. I puckered at the first sip and the flavor was terrible. The staff wasn't very friendly throughout and didn't bat an eye or say anything when our drinks came out super late. Overall a bad experience, we will not be returning.
The Pad See You was good, but a bit too salty. The restaurant was busy, but because there was only 1 server, I had to wait for a while to get seated.
The food is good. Nice neighborhood spot.
Absolutely flavorless food, overpriced, and terrible service. 45 minute wait for a takeout entree and they weren’t even busy. I dined there on 1/13/25. I’ll never get that $30 back but I’ll always remember how bad the food was.
Unfortunately gotta give 1 star review, which a rarely give… showed up at 1.18 PM and they refused dine in service saying they are only take out. Mind you the restaurant closes at 2PM
Me and my friends dined in there and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly. The food was amazing. We will definitely be back.
Pad Kra Pow was too sweet for me. Also they could use better plates.
was fire
I'm sorry baby, you were the sun and moon to me.
I'll never get over you, you'll never get over me.
Some of the most delicious Thai food I’ve had in my life
honestly disappointing. pad thai tasted disappointing, the ground chicken larb salad also was super dry and disappointing.
Pretty good. Food was good. Please turn on the AC. Recommend checking table 5m after they get the food because several things were forgotten and we couldn't waive down any staff.
Just wonderful and amazing..
What a beautiful concept of Sun and Moon
The land of the rising Sun for Japan and moon for Thailand
I enjoyed the crab fried rice, mango sticky rice and Thai tea
I love the painting of the sun and the moon 🌚 🌞
Looks like it was just opened a year ago and I would highly recommend it if you want to try Thai street food or Japanese ramen
Of course I had to make the crescent moon 🌙 while I was eating as well 😁
Bon appetit!
Ordered take out Pad Kee Mao Mild. Not mild and very average in terms of flavor. Did not give utensils or napkins, or ask about it. For $22 I expect better.
Riquisimo!
Chicken Larb was SUPER disappointing. Little to no flavor or spice. Just tasted like sautéed chicken with a few aromatics added in. The sticky rice was also really mushy.
Adorable restaurant so I’m sad that the food was less than desirable. I would try it again, just a different dish.
Consistently delicious food! I’ve eaten here several times and I’m always impressed by the quality.
This is a hidden gem in SF:) Love that it’s not too luxurious - you can casually walk in and have a delicious dinner:)

Service is horrible. This is the second time I have eaten here and both times we were completely forgotten about by rude waitstaff. For almost everything, we had to request it ourselves. Can we please order now (after waiting 20 mins)? Can we please have our drinks (after 30 mins)? Can we please order food now (once the drinks came)? Can we please order dessert? Can you please clear these plates? Can you please bring the check? And each time we asked, they barely spoke to us and made it as brief as possible. The food is tasty, but to deal with this two times in a row - obviously it is a sad reality of this restaurant. Would not recommend, and I won't be returning. If you want thai, try Krua Thai in mission! Great food and responsive waiters.
Good experience.
A bit on the pricey side, but it's Thai in San Francisco.
Very flavorful curry. Also very generous mango for the mango sticky rice

While their hours say closes to at 2pm on weekdays, they only take to-go orders after 1:30pm.
I live nearby so I have been to this place many times. I have tried almost all the dishes on the menu and they are all amazing!! Their flavouring is out of this world! Everything tastes very special!
I especially like the chicken wing and kobocha curry. The kombucha curry comes with pumpkin rice which is a nice touch.
Incredible, beautifully plated food - we couldn't believe it wasn't busier. Sun and Moon seems like a hidden gem and we appreciated the intimate, quiet atmosphere. Had such a hard time deciding what to order because everything looked amazing, so I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!
Good reasonably priced food, friendly staff, and good atmosphere. Google sends you to the side door in the alley, the street out front is the main entrance
Amazing pad see ew (with Thai spicy).
I ordered a gluten free Pad See Ew to go, only to find out that my dish didn’t have any sauce in it. If you can’t make a dish gluten free, please inform your customer. I’d rather change my order than get plain noodles with egg, chicken and broccoli.
Casual, cute and cool.
Delicious food, welcoming place, attentive service, good prices.
We loved the Pad Gra Pow Beef & the Kabocha curry, deliciously spicy.
Now I need to try every item in the menu, so...
I'll be back.
I order here way too often because the kabocha curry is too good 😮💨 sometimes I'll order a Thai iced coffee or tea and they're both delicious as well 🫶🏼
Food was excellent and ideal for large groups!
This Thai place is new and has metered parking around the block. The ambiance is good but it could be noisy depending on the crowd as the tables are really close to each other. I recommend the salmon spring rolls and fresh spring rolls. The corn crab cake was okay. We didn’t like the Larb gai salad, as it was chewy and stinked- probably some seasoning element. Pad kee mow was good and not really spicy. Mango sticky rice was great! Staff service was good.
Best crab rice ever!
Scheduled a delivery through doordash for 6:45 pm way in advance. The pickup kept getting delayed until 7:15pm, then canceled. Doordash said to call Sun and Moon. I called and Sun and Moon said to call doordash, said they already gave the food to the dasher. Meanwhile I still see a charge on my account pending. Was really looking forward to my food, but they didn't even offer to fix the problem.
Tokyo Tonkotsu broth was so so salty. The kakuni pork was good though. We waited a long time for our food to come.
Food was incredible! Both of our meals were flavourful and balanced. The service was prompt and friendly! Would highly recommend.
Pad Thai and Tokyo Tonkotsu were amazing and reasonably priced.
I really enjoyed my ramen
We stumbled across Sun and Moon while we were looking for somewhere to eat before a Giants game. It is unassuming from the outside and you go in through a funny entrance shared with an upstairs (maybe apartments or offices). Once inside it is cozy and darker lit.
We ordered chicken satay and chicken wings for the kids and green curry and pork belly for the adults. Everything came pretty quickly and water was plentiful. ALL the food was delicious. My green curry was perfectly spiced and so flavorsome. I would order it again in a second. My husband loved his and the kids devoured every bit. I don't think any of us had a morsel left over.
The prices were reasonable too. Highly recommend.
I have been living nearby and wanted some good thai food. I placed my order with them and they told me the total. I got there around 15 minutes later and when I tried to get my food, they said they don't accept $100 bills. After saying I only had cash, they proceeded to tell me they only has $20 in their register. Usually I never use big bills around smaller establishments because I understand, but since this is a restaurant and my change was only around $38 I found that very strange. Taking my business elsewhere because they even proceeded to ask me to manually enter our credit cards number. Disappointed but not surprised another restaurant declining service to paying customers.
Delicious and friendly 😋
Superb. Delicious Thai food and quick service. It was hard to decide on a dish because all the options looked amazing!
We stopped by here right before the SF Giants game (as did several other fans). We figured we'd get a nice dinner for as much as we'd spend at the ballpark--without the long lines. The Pad See EW was really tasty. The Larb Gai Salad could have used more greens.

Lovely flavours and ambience! A Must visit if you like Thai food
My lunch here was delicious. The service was good, despite being way understaffed. Like one server and one runner working the whole dining room. They did a great job even though it was busy, but a lot of time was spent waiting.
Food and service excellent. The top 40 music almost made my food come back up.
Amazing food and cozy place 😍 I had miso ramen and salmon rolls.
Sun and Moon has changed their prices on their menu and what you see on the end check is not the same thing as what they’ve stated on their menu
My friend had a birthday dinner there and staff were so flexible and patient with us (large disorganized party).
In the space that was once the beloved Koh Samui and the Monkey, this is a casual place billed as Thai/Japanese/Hawaiian, but I think it's mostly Thai, and I didn't see any dishes that tried to hybridize cuisines.
There was only one server and he seemed distracted and left us alone for long periods, but we were in no hurry so it was fine.
There were ads for beers based on popular Thai soups, Tom Yum Beer and Tom Kha Beer. I didn't see that on the menu, and probably wouldn't have had beer for lunch anyway, but I will definitely track those beers down and try them.
UPDATE:
1) Crab Fried Rice? Definitely worth it, even if $35.
2) Pad See You with Beef, Pad Kee Mow with Prawns (I get it mild or just slightly spicy) - a very safe choice, and very good.
3) I sometimes order from here for delivery, and when I do I sometimes get green curry. I heat it up again and it's also very good.
Staff are friendly, and I didn't think that they were understaffed when I went as a group of two.
***
Food: Generally will be around $20+ with tips, around $25+ if you also order drinks. I was a bit surprised at $35 for crab fried rice. It was super cold, so I ordered ramen (though it's not really thai food). My Tonkotsu Ramen ($19) was very good. I think everyone in the table was pretty happy with the food they got.
Service: I think they might have been slightly understaffed, though they probably didn’t expect a group of 6 people on a Thursday night. They didn’t provide chopsticks for ramen so I had to ask for it (you can’t really eat ramen with a fork), and I realized that I also didn’t get a spoon so I had to ask for that as well. They were nice enough to bring hot water when I asked for it in the beginning.
The vegetables rolls were a flavor trip , the crab were also nice and the broth of the ramen were immaculate
We came here for a friend’s birthday and it was pretty good! The Kabocha curry was super good & unique and the fresh coconut water was amazing. Super fresh and sweet. The only cons were the Pad See You was a bit bland in my opinion and the service got pretty slow once they got busier. Another thing to note is that they don’t do anything for birthdays in case you’re coming in for one as well.
Great Thai place with a really beautiful interior. The chairs were really comfy and it was a great place to grab dinner with a friend to catch up. Would definitely come again! Food was also delicious.
Very generous portions for one person! I got the Spicy Miso ramen, and since I was craving some rice, I got a side of sticky rice with kikurage mushrooms. Also got a hot matcha to drink. The ramen broth was very flavorful and perfect for a cold, rainy night, especially paired with hot matcha. The caramel egg was just amazing - I would order one on the side if I got something on the menu that doesn't have a caramel egg in it already! There was a lot of chashu pork in the ramen, so I had enough leftover pork, rice, and mushrooms for next day's lunch!
Don't let the entrance might put you off - it's quite nice inside!
Fantastic spot, perfect service, food, and atmosphere. This really is a top restaurant on my list now.

Defiantly, the best Tom Yum ever! Delicious food!
Great place to eat some elevated Thai food. Though it's definitely on the expensive side. The price justifies the quality of the food though. They're delicious.
I got their crab fried rice, and it was amazing. Lots of crabs indeed, like what the menu says. Their Massaman Neua is also great!
Love the food, fast delivery
Love the place!! We come here very often. The food are authentic! I think this place is THE BEST in this neighborhood.
Very disappointing and unauthentic Asian fusion food. Only came because there’s no other good Thai food nearby.
Ramen and Caltrain fried rice were too salty and barely edible.
Corn crab cake was mostly fried corn that was overly oily (oil temperature not right) and bland crab meat with zero seasoning.
Also waited 40min for the fried rice, we were already done eating by then 🤨
3 stars are for the menu creativity and nice decor.
Would not come back.
Love this place!
No flavor in the chicken pad thai and it was overpriced for what the portions were. Not impressed. Also no napkins or utensils in the bag. Go to the thonglar. Cheaper and better
The food here is pretty good (albeit not super authentic - there's a difference) but the service was quite lacking. The waiters were not very accomodating in terms of where we wanted to sit despite openings and when I asked to split CCs one of the gentlemen was incredibly rude about the whole thing and gave me a death glare. I even offered to tip extra to make up for whatever minuscule difference in processing fees but instead he was like do it my way or leave. That service interaction left a really bad taste afterwards. Like cool man I know the customers aren't always right but this is no way to treat us
Love the experience, my Thai friend was very satisfied and got to introduce us to some yummy Thai food, I am definitely a fan of Thai food now...
I really wanted to like this place since it's a short walk from my apt. The food was good but they really need to increase their service staff numbers. There was only one server working when I was there on a Wednesday evening. Because of that, getting the servers attention was not easy.
Wonderful food
This place is a gem. We decided to try it out of blue and were pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity of food.
I thought the food was great! I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, and my friends got the pad see you. Both were delicious, and the service was great too! The food was pretty affordable as well
Great location, views outside, and good choice of Thai and Japanese food. All items we ordered were good and with decent portion sizes also. Service was reasonably quick also. We just felt it was a little costly overall, but that could be because of City and location. Definitely worth checking out.
Really good Thai food, the yellow curry was delicious and all the food was very flavorful. Even the sticky rice for dessert was delicious!
Super yummy
I just love this place .
The decorations and the food are amazing.. we were 5 and all the plates were delicious .
Sun and moon definitely is a restaurant I’ll come back.. is perfect for enjoy a dinner with friends or have a date 🫶🏻..
also the guys who attended to us were really good.
Ramen was meh, the spicy salad was okay.
V good! A bit hot inside but if you drink ice water it's okay.
Great presentation and service. The food was ok though. It was either too sweet or salty
Portion is good, environment is decent too. More on the pricier side for Thai food
Very delicious Thai food served.all the items we ordered was testy and liked by family member also
Small place in the financial district for some Thai grub. Staff is super nice. Ambiance is also good, music makes it even better. Had spicy basil with chicken and mango sticky rice with Thai iced tea . Food was quite mouth watering and little spicy but iced tea have just enough sweet to compliment it. Had a great time, will come back
Food came out pretty fast, quality was even better. Highly recommend
The worst experience I ever had!!!
When they brought me my order the meat smelled so foul, it was disgusting to eat. I ordered spicy, and they put so much pepper in the food that it was unbearable to eat… and I love hot and spicy food.
I barely ate anything, yet still payed for the food since they took their time to make it. It was $18 for the disgusting food. I left $0 tip. I then checked my card and they charged me $28, apparently they tipped themselves $10. Horrible, horrible experience!
맛있고 짜요
crab fried rice and salmon rolls v yum
My favorite Thai place in California! The service is great tol
The pad see you was not great, tasted extremely sweet, not much other flavors. Not worth the price I'd say.
Great food!
Best Thai food I have had in San Francisco
Fantastic spot. Friendly, efficient service and amazing food. Will definitely be back!
Thai and Japanese. It's one of the few restaurants open in this part of soma still desolated from COVID. Not always great food. The edamame soy beans I ordered still had ice on them, from the freezer + microwave treatment they got.
Very good Thai food. Many thanks.
Wirklich gute Spicy Miso soup. Habe ich so noch nicht in Wien gefunden.
These folks had excellent food and great service. I'd really like to help them out as well because they're very friendly and it seems that restaurants like this are struggling right now in our city just trying to pay rent and hire good people. I would highly recommend giving this place a try
Pretty good
I’ve been this Thai, Japanese and Hawaiian fusion place twice. Vibe is perfect. Food, dessert and drinks are all tasty. Alamo fried chicken and crab fried rice is our favorite. Ramen is too salty. They’re short of staff but staff are helpful and nice. The best thing is there’s no need to wait for seats at all.
v expensive, v delicious lol come here with ya fam
Beautiful space and delicious food!
It was our first time eating at Sun and Moon and wow, were we impressed. I’ve tried dozens of Thai restaurants in San Francisco & always on the lookout for new spots. This is by far one of the most flavorful, authentic and delicious Thai cuisine I’ve had. The flavors were incredible, portions were great, spice was perfect (Thai spicy and it was perfect) and very kind service. We got the Pad See Ew, Kobocha Curry, Pad Gra Pow & Papaya salad and each dish was so tasty - 10/10! Worth the drive across the city :)
I am very picky with food but this is the type of place I come back to regularly. If you’re in the area you have to try it out
