Saap Ver is an ingredient-focused restaurant introducing lesser-known regional Thai dishes.
Had lunch with a friend here and everything was expected very delicious since we were introduced by one of my foodie friends. The Thai food here were authentic and good since I don’t really eat spicy everything was perfect wasn’t over spiced at all. The only thing I would work on is the cocktails, didn’t taste the alcohol 😅don’t get me wrong I’m also not an alcoholic. Other than that everything was perfect
Very good Thai food without having to go to the TL.
The food portion is large. They are very generous with proteins in their carb based dishes: like fried rice and noodles.
I ordered the crab fried rice and it was huge with lots of crab meat. The chicken wings were also delicious. The Tom yum had large shrimps and lots of veggies. I ordered the duck salad as well.
They also provide lime to squeeze. It is quite loud inside with lots of tv. They have some outdoor seating and parking was easy on a Sunday.
fun atmosphere and delicious food! be warned though - spicy is actually really spicy! 🥵🌶️ overall, i’d come back but get my meal medium spicy only
saap ver damn good: tasty cocktail with right balance of sweet and savory. don’t think it’s worth $13 considering it’s only soju
spicy basil chicken (spicy): really flavorful! juicy chicken with good portions but the spicy was too spicy. rice for $3 a scam though. medium spice is perf!
pad kee mow (chicken, medium spice): another great dish from saap ver, could get spicier next time though
duck curry: creamy and flavourful, delicious curry. duck was well cooked
samosas: solid but could be spicier
Friend took me to try out Sapp Ver Thai!
Two of us ate:
-beef noodle soup $16
-pad see ew beef $16
-wagyu basil tray $30
I personally enjoyed the beef noodle soup and pad see ew. The wagyu basil tray was a bit underwhelming for the value...although flavors were good.
5% SF mandate charge included in bill.
Staff was friendly and attentive.
Street parking only.
The food here is absolutely amazing. This is now my go to and favorite Thai restaurant in San Francisco!
I made reservations for a Saturday night at 6:30pm. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, and our table was prepared quickly while there was a line to get in. Everything that we ordered came out quickly and each plate after another was a hit.
Everything was absolutely delicious!
I really enjoyed the tom saap pork sparerib soup. The soup was rich from the pork ribs with a sour tom yum profile and spicy for medium heat. The crispy pork was delicious and full of flavor with a crispy skin. All of their noodle dishes and fried rice were very flavorful. The north and east Thai sausage was also flavorful, with two varieties of Thai sausages. I also have never tried a Thai crispy rice salad and found it to be a very unique dish that had a nice sour tang and saltiness to it.
All of my friends were stuffed from finishing all of the food and we concluded that we'd be back to try more items. Stop by Saap Ver for some great Thai food and experience!
February 2024:
Stopped by for dinner and ordered the pumpkin curry with tofu and the eggplant with tofu. Both were very tasty and ate it with a side of jasmine rice.
Tried the coconut water which surprisingly was a fresh coconut 🥥. Overall, food was very tasty 😋 and I would definitely come back again for more delicious Thai food!
I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience was shocking. We ordered delivery, and there was a live cabbage worm (yes, it was still moving) in our larb. Honestly, there could have been more – we threw everything out right away without checking the rest. A restaurant that doesn’t take the time to thoroughly wash its vegetables is not a place I’d recommend. Food safety should always be a priority. To make matters worse, when I called to inform them, all I got was a simple “I’m sorry, please request a refund through DoorDash,” with no mention of addressing the issue. Do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere.
Delivery order is long time wite 35 minutes
. Food is hum... just okay not bad not great . i got drunken noodle with shrimp . it s okay
fun atmosphere and delicious food! be warned though - spicy is actually really spicy! 🥵🌶️ overall, i’d come back but get my meal medium spicy only

Came here on a double date. I didn't even know the girl I was meeting but did it anyways. Struck out, but the food here was fantastic.
Price is too high.
Fantastic Thai food! Authentic curries and pad thai, attentive staff, and great vibe
The place skimps on the portions. The following were bad: green curry, cashew chicken, chicken fried rice. Only the pad see ew was ok. Just don’t go here
Was in fact damn good. 10/10 will get coconut water again.
Amazing yummy Thai food. Usually don’t have to wait for a table. There’s loud music and tv playing so not a great spot for conversation. I always come here when I’m in this part of town.
Giving 1 star because cannot give 0 star. We were denied seating twice already. We arrived 1-1.5 hours before closing and were told that they are only taking to-go orders.

Don’t allow seating at 9.25 for a restaurant that closes at 10. Need to update timing
Best authentic casual Thai food in the city. Beware that medium = spicy. Raw shrimp & green curry was so good.
Wow - just ordered take out from here. Not only did the order take over twice as long to come up as I was told it would ( at an early lunch), but I ordered medium spicy. When I got home to eat it, my eyes were watering, I was coughing and my nose was running. I am no stranger to spicy food - Thai ( I eat it very frequently) or other spicy cuisines ( Mexican, Indian), but this was ridiculous! Be forewarned. Google forced me to give a recommendation (and other topics) - I do not recommend.
Got the stir fried squid in yolk sauce, didn't disappoint
Lively place with amazing Thai food, we got really good service . I would highly recommend this place . It almost feels like you are in a club as the music is quite loud , but we could still hold a conversation so it was not too bad. Tried the fresh rolls, pumpkin curry with tofu, veg fried rice and pad Kee mao veg and everything was very flavorful and fresh . Check spice level while ordering , we had a medium on the noodles and it felt a bit more spicy than other Thai restaurants . Try this place , I would recommend it .
This is my favorite thai restaurant in the city. I’ve taken multiple groups here who visit SF and we always leave very satisfied 🤩 The vibes are immaculate and their food has so much flavor (and great portions)!
I’d recommend their pad see ew, thai shrimp paste fried rice, and tom kha 🤤 but you rlly can’t go wrong with what you order here!
We ordered a boat 8 to 10 dishes and all of them were extraordinarily good. Certainly going to be back. An exceptional Thai place in the Bay area!

Great thai food beautifully presented.
Pumpkin curry was amazing, thai ice tea delicious, my server Maytika was very sweet and gave great service! I would have taken a pic but I inahaled my food.
Everything they make is amazing. The name doesn't lie :)
Overpriced for the portions you get.

I was concerned when the green curry wasn't labelled as spicy and sort of rightfully so. I tried the pumpkin curry since if green curry isn't the spicy one I can branch out. I ordered it very very spicy, which the waitress suggested Thai spicy for. The curry had a great sweet flavor, but I would say medium at best for spice. However, when I asked they brought out a small bowl of chopped up bird's eye chilis which I could use to actually make it actually spicy.
Probably the highest praise I can give a restaurant was my order was so good, my girlfriend realized she likes Thai food when she tried some of mine instead of her normal drunk noodles (pad kee mow).
One of the best restaurants in this neighborhood! Great food with a wide selection of dishes. They have lots of gluten free options, which I've found to be safe for me as a person with Celiac. They've got great drinks too, including fresh young coconuts and some super fun cocktails. Always looking forward to coming back here again soon. The only downside is it can get a bit loud inside on crowded nights. Highly recommend!!
Great yellow curry chicken!
Very good Thai food without having to go to the TL.
The food portion is large. They are very generous with proteins in their carb based dishes: like fried rice and noodles.

Food was great, but between the SF mandate, tip percentages based on post-tax+sf ‘mandate’ (junk fee), and the already high prices, I cannot justify going here. That’s not to mention the stare down while calculating the tip percentage
It just leaves a bad taste in your mouth and no amount of good food is worth that. $80 for 1 appetizer and two vegetable dishes!
This restaurant has accolades and makes some of the best Thai food in the City. The only downside is the music can be a bit loud so it’s not the best place for group conversations.
‼️⚠️‼️⚠️‼️⚠️‼️
Am a foreigner + student. At first, I liked the restaurant so I decided to visit regularly.
Realized the bill was consistently 18-20% higher than the food, so I figured tip was already included.
‼️⚠️‼️⚠️‼️⚠️‼️
But on my >10th visit, the server confronted me and gave me a 5 min lecture:
“If you don’t tip, don’t dine in. Just take out next time
Server made clear that they will refuse to serve me if I do not “tip”.
Restaurant already uses dark pattern in bill by having hidden fees (see the other 1-star reviews) yet still threatens customers for not “tipping”.
Thanks, will be having my meals elsewhere next time.
Food was great! We loved the yellow curry and pineapple fried rice. They were able to accommodate our special requests for vegetarian options(without fish sauce).
Really good thai food. Crab fried rice was to die for
Great Thai food, with a little more variety than the usual Thai restaurants. Spicier than most places. 3 stars for atmosphere because the noise level is a bit high.
Great selection of simple and delicious Thai food in a fun and casual environment. Loved it!
My favorite Thai place in the city! Authentic flavors, great service.
Food:
- Duck curry was phenomenal, that’s why this is 5⭐️ for me.
- The papaya salad with crab was hard to eat and not my favorite but would be great for those that love fermented seafood flavors.
- Pad see ew was average to pretty good
- naked prawns were good, normal shrimp
- crispy pork belly sweet basil was solid taste but not crispy at all. Maybe they let it sit in the sauce too long.
- the people next to us got the wings and I can’t speak to the taste but I didn’t realize they were wings at first they were so small. Had almost no meat at all.
Drink:
- Saap ver knock-out was solid
- saap ver damn good was really tasty if you like lychee. Whatever they rim it with was a great texture and good sweet and spicy
Service was prompt and did a good job of anticipating needs.
Came out to ~$160 for all of the above. (excepting the wings)
It’s so so good! Chef Kobe makes delicious magic happen. Every time we have friends in town this is on the place to take them to. Highly recommend the Nam Khao Tod and Saap Wings. 👌🏻💯🔥

I always confuse this place with another restaurant across the street. I've done this 4 times...every time it's exactly the same. Grabbed some takeout last night and ordered some thing I've never eaten before. Everything was great. I was super cold and hungry. Food was piping hot and warmed me up quickly. Couldn't eat all that I ordered because I was full...finished it for lunch today and it was still excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Had it for lunch and now I want to go back for dinner. Just had the basic fried chicken and rice with som tum but it was all done perfectly.
Tom saap soup was really good!
We got takeout and tried the chicken noodle soup, the pad see uw, the ginger rice, steamed veggies and grilled bananas. The veggies looked a little dirty/unclean but the pad see uw was good. The way they packaged the soup and noodles was not good - the noodles were so stuck together the first twenty bites were just noodles and no soup. The grilled bananas were awful - we took two bites and threw the rest away. No flavor and tasted not fully cooked. We won’t go back. There’s better Thai food for the price elsewhere.
Interesting atmosphere. The food was good, but a little too spicy for me.
Nice thai restaurant
Super delicious but spicy! I got medium level but we thought it was pretty spicy. Love the interiors!
Too salty
Gen z boring
Loud
Fun place, great food and ambiance!
Highly recommend the salted egg and squid stir fry- FULL of flavor and umami. The grilled pork shoulder was super tender. The wings special was delish! They even halved the wings for you; you get the great taste and texture of a wing, WITH the convenience of a drumstick.
Solid food options with big portions!
Tried ginger chicken rice and BBQ noodle soup. Both delicious although the rice was too sticky and the chicken was mostly skin and bone.
*downgraded to 4 stars after multiple visits as not all items are worth the price. Pumpkin tofu curry for example only has a few cubes of pumpkin and three pieces of tofu :/
Was excited to try this place but man what a let down. I would rather go to my neighborhood Thai takeout down the street for more authentic Thai food.
First let’s talk food. My husband ordered what the menu described as a stir fry noodle with pork. It came out covered in loads and loads of gravy?? Very confusing. I ordered the stewed pork leg rice plate, a little too sweet and very gelatinous with the actual meat being too dry/over cooked. Not horrible but it gets 2 stars given the price. Also I saw the waitress literally use her bare hands to grab a cilantro leaf to plop it onto my plate before serving - no ty.
Service is what this place really lacked. Everyone looked like they were forced to work there. I asked for some popular dishes and the waitress pointed at a few items. I then asked if there’s anything not spicy and she just could not give any recommendations. Strange but ok. The part that really put a sour taste in our mouths is that we walked in with a can of half empty Coke Zero, and the waitress informed us mid way through that outside drinks are not allowed. Ok, fair enough, but what did you want us to do at this point? Either way, we continued with our meal. What really bothered us was when two non-Asian diners sat at the table next to us, holding smoothies from an outside establishment, and nobody batted an eye or said anything to them. What’s up with this double standard? When we asked for the check, they plopped down the bill with a blank expression, then picked up our card with an equally blank expression. Need to say less, after paying $50 just for two entrees, we will not be back. SMH.
Had the five spice pork leg with rice, it was filling and very tasty.
Ordered PadThai which was horrible, it had some weird smell of spoiled oil
Amazing food and service was immediate. Really take care of customers with a good family atmosphere. Make sure you let your host know what spice level you like.
Delicious, affordable food with attentive service and fun decor! My family and I love Saap Ver. After visiting family in Bangkok, we came back really missing Thai food, and the food at Saap Ver was exactly what we were looking for. Tasted just like the food we had had every day in Bangkok. Even medium spicy is quite spicy, so beware! We love their papaya salad, their tom yum soup (so prawn-y!), their red curry, their fish cakes - they do the basics super well. Can’t say enough positive things about this place.
We visit this place quite often given the proximity to our home and affordable food rates. It's always been a really pleasant and good experience visiting this place to enjoy good thai food!
Violently disgusting and unhealthy.
Great Thai food and good service. Music was a little too loud like going to a club not a restaurant:( I would go back with some noise canceling earphones ;) ha
Best Thai food that I had in Bay Area !
Excellent yellow curry. Fantastic fresh rolls. Fun atmosphere, very attentive staff. Decent drinks. A little pricey for what it was.
Overall the service and the food were typically good Thai food. The appetizers were the best part of our meal. We especially liked the samosas. The dishes were spicy and not very advanced from a taste perspective except for the spice. The food was fresh and well cooked.
The major reason that I am giving it 3 stars is that it is too loud in the restaurant. It was difficult to hear the people at our table since there was so much noise in the restaurant. Because of this, I would not return here.
Great place to get great Thai food! Went for a friend's birthday celebration! Fun!
Delicious Thai food at s reasonable price
The food is not great but suppose it's passable. Mostly it was way too expensive for what it was.
Red Curry Beef : This was ok; perfectly bog standard. The fact that it's $19 ($16 + $3 rice) makes its value proposition pretty poor though.
Saap Wings : God no. Do not recommend. The saap seasoning isn't anything special. The fact that they give the half/split wing (ie, just has one bone) didn't improve this dish. The wings I had were also apt to have the bones break apart; this didn't do it for me at all.
Ordered pad see ew with chicken for pickup, huge portion that 2 people could eat. Wow simply delicious!
Authentic quality food indeed
Ordered-green curry with beef and thai ice tea
The amount of chicken in the Yellow Curry is ridiculous. If I wanted a Vegetarian Curry I would not add chicken to it. It comes with huge pcs of Potato and almost none meat. Disappointing.
Ambiente agradable y destacado menú con opciones muy variadas
The staff is very nice but the food is disappointing. Also could use a wider plant based selection.
Very good food and great vibes
Pretty good! Some nights are way too loud, but it almost has a club-y vibe after a certain time
Ordered 3 dishes last night, 1 of them a hotpot chicken soup dish, which cost $18 before taxes and had literally 6 tiny pieces of chicken in it and came with no rice. Flavor is pretty authentic but don’t expect anything of substance in your meal.
I had pad thai for pick up and it was the worst pad thai I have ever had. No flavor just a lot of noodle. I could have made the same thing in 2 mins.
Divy Thai restaurant with fairly loud music. Food is decent
Firstly, I like Thai cuisine.
But here, none of the dishes tasted good. Starting with Thai iced tea (How can this taste bad?! Yes but here, it did) until the dessert, nothing tasted good. Overall service was good, but since the food wasn't satisfactory at all, will not be returning.
Delicious authentic Thai food with a fun and culturally festive atmosphere.
Best thai in town!!
Review from 2022: Very sad to report that the food has changed. Their dishes used to have more depth and flavor, but now it is just sweet. It feels like they have changed the spices. Maybe they have a new chef. The chicken in our flat noodle today felt like cardboard and old. We told the server about it, server took it away and gave us a new plate, but chicken was still not fresh. Their papaya salad used to be so fresh and flavorful, but now it lacks flavor and freshness. This place used to be my favorite Thai place in the bay area, but not any more. 2 stars because their staff members were very nice and friendly.
Review from 2021: One of the best Thai food in town. Did lunch and dinner here a couple of times and we also did a catering for our wedding party and all our guests loved their food. Salted wings and thai herbal sausages go so well with beer. Som tam and padseew beef are also great.
Nice food but had to leave because they play club music really loud. Would be nice if there were some tables where the music wasn’t so loud.
