An affordable Thai restaurant with good food and friendly service. We ordered a Cucumber Salad, Pad See Ew and Pad Thai. All three dishes were very nicely presented and very good. The Cucumber Salad was generously sprinkled with Bonito flakes, giving it a strong fish flavor. The food was very nicely presented and the restaurant is bright and clean. Access to the bathroom requires a trip through the kitchen.
The food here is fantastic, and the service is solid.
The Pad Thai had a bit more of a tomato flavor than expected, but it was still enjoyable. The Khao Soi with fried chicken was a standout—the broth was creamy, rich, and perfectly spiced. The chicken was well-marinated and crispy, making for a great texture contrast.
We’ll definitely be returning! :)
We just happened upon this place while we were in the neighborhood, and what a treat it was.
The food was amazing! Every dish is beautifully presented and the food is fantastic! I love Tom Kha soup and Khaosoi's version is the best I've ever had.
We were so pleased to find this treasure and can't wait to go back!
Oh, the places you'll go, and the foods you will try,
But none quite as tasty as Khao Soi, oh my!
I ordered to-go, in a box it did come,
And when I opened it up, I was struck by the yum!
The Khao Soi was creamy, with noodles so neat,
The spices were dancing—a wonderful treat!
The flavors were rich, not too spicy, just right,
Every bite was a journey, a taste bud delight.
Even though it was takeout, it still felt like a prize,
With fresh, yummy veggies and portions in size.
So if you’re craving Thai food, don’t wait, don’t be shy,
Head on to Khao Soi, give their dishes a try!
You'll leave with a smile, and your tummy will cheer,
For the flavors of Khao Soi are something to revere!
It's located right next to this church. The Khaosoi was too sweet. I did not order that, someone else I came with did. But it was tough trying to finish it. As a South East Asian myself, probably if you're from that region you may find it too sweet as we are used to more spicy-tangy flavourful profiles for Thai food. However tbh it's my first time trying out this 'Khaosoi' dish so not too sure if that's what it's supposed to be like. It may have been modified & sweeter, less spicy for American tastes but I really don't know. It's good that they have vegetarian options (for me) if you are not too fussy ! :) I ordered the Green Curry with Tofu & Veges it was decent. Good for me although it was rather creamy & I would have preferred some more basil leaves etc. But again the authentic flavour profile might be too strong for Americans. Fishcakes & sweet sauce was perfect! Samosa was good 👍
Very clean, friendly service, and food was delicious. My family and I enjoyed lunch here and it was great for our dietary restrictions. We were able to be nut allergy free, vegan dishes available, and Thai tea was so good! I got beef see ew and would definitely be back!! Tell all your friends 😋
Cute little spot with delicious food. Has a sweet let undertone but very well balanced. Fried tofu, the fried chicken, all crisp and light. The khaosoi was fantastic. Does have a touch of spice, even though not labelled as such (which I actually appreciated). Friendly environment. Will come again!
Cute little Thai place with such kind people running the restaurant. We got there before opening and it was cold, they saw that we were waiting outside and let us in early. The samosas (curry puffs) are one of the BEST I've ever had.
I really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, the food was a bit disappointing. The Pad Thai with tofu was decent but lacked "wok hei", and despite requesting it spicy, it wasn’t spicy at all. The beef Khao Soi was just okay—the beef was a bit too tough. The Thai chicken salad was overly acidic, which threw off the balance of flavors.
Not an expert or anything, but quite possibly the best Thai food I’ve ever had.
Loved everything I ate:
KhaoSoi Shrimp tempura
Tom Yum ramen
Samosa
Garden roll
Pad see eew
A must try
Get eat food and great service.
Lovely place and such a friendly service! The food was delicious. They have the best Thai food in the Bay Area.

service and atmosphere nice, khao soi itself was not very flavorful, same with tom yum ramen. the only positive was the mango sticky rice at the end
YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM soooo tasty
Door Dash - fast and delivered hot
Delicious foot and fast service :)

Excellent food and service. The khaosoi with beef was fantastic and came with a mammoth sized piece of beef. Also loved the Tom yum ramen, Thai chicken salad, and pad Thai.
Nice cozy ambiance, too. The restaurant is small, though, so make sure to book a reservation ahead of time.
Absolutely my favorite Thai restaurant in SF. Great food, very professional service and great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
We had an incredible meal at KhaoSoi! The samosas were tender and flaky with a delicious dipping sauce and the garlic Brussels sprouts were fantastic. The Tom kha soup was the best I’ve ever had- a beautifully flavored broth with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked shrimp! We will definitely be back the next time we visit the city.
Came to SF for business today and decided to try something new. This place is amazing! Super clean, friendly staff and food is delicious! Just be mindful about your spice tolerance, if you can’t handle “Thai spice” ask for mild. Will definitely return!
Wanted to like this place, unfortunately wouldn’t recommend. I got the green curry. It was watery, veggies were all pretty much raw, and some ingredients tasted not fresh. One of the worst green curries I’ve ever tried honestly. My partner liked his entree, however. He got the fried chicken khaosoi. I also tasted it and thought it was fine. But overall, wouldn’t go back.

Place works wonders with such a small space
This Thai spot is the best in the city! The food is SO good, it's our go-to spot. Every item we've ordered has been above par. We must come at least once per week.
Clean elegant space in light bright calm colors. Delicious Khao Soi - northern Thai style curry noodle soup. Deliciously rich and flavorful. I had the fried chicken Khao soi -the chicken was crispy and hot. Highly recommend this different Thai food experience.
Great food, service. Very nice place for lunch/dinner/date.
Pad thai was great. Server wasn’t friendly at all!

Super excellent food and good service with nice waiter
Good service and nicely decorated space, but I was disappointed by the khao soi.
Good points: nice presentation, fried chicken was crispy and juicy. The fried chicken is the best part of the dish.
Bad points: not authentic. Broth is too sweet, as seems to be the case with so many Thai restaurants in the US. Too much coconut milk. I can't taste any freshly ground spices, spice flavor is too mild, and I suspect they are using pre-made curry paste. While the dish is objectively not bad tasting, if I wanted to have curry with pre-made paste, I could make that at home.
Since the restaurant is named after khao soi, I was expecting more effort to be put into it. And at $22, it's also more expensive than typical Thai noodle dishes.
Honestly so good. Hands down some of the best Thai in San Francisco. Best Tom Yum I’ve had.
Best of the city!
In a sea of average Thai restaurants, this one really stood out
Gem of a place! Clean, friendly and above all delicious fresh food!
I stopped by Khan Soi to pick up some lunch to go. Having never tried their dishes before I just ordered one item, Pad Thai. When I opened the box I could tell that the food was going to be delicious. As another review commented, their food is beautifully prepared and full of nuanced flavor. I’ll be back to try their other options. I told everyone at work about Khan Soi as they deserve the business. They’ll definitely have mine.
The place looks comforting and clean, Khaosoi is a must try, especially the fried chicken here has a nice seasoning and the crispiest chicken I have had here in US. The breast fried chicken somewhat is still juicy and not to dry to eat! Please try! Pad See EW is also really nice and flavorful I love it <3
Simply fantastic. Amazing food. Great service. Authentic and fair prices. Definitely recommend. Thanks everyone who works there.
Super good Thai food!
Thanks Kwan :))
Most delicious Thai food in SF! Authentic flavors, creatively presented. Wonderfully hospitable and friendly staff. Easy street parking on a Monday evening, we booked a table. Thank you Khaosoi!
Love the atmosphere really nice staff, and food, great presentation.
Wish there was a drink menu though
Green curry was phenomenal
Excellent food and good service.
Very delicious and great service ,
We love it thank you.

We love it thank you.
Really pretty restaurant with fun decor (the spoons were little fishes!). It specializes in khaosoi which is one of my favorite thai dishes because it’s a delicious mix of sour and spicy and noodles. I got the beef khaosoi and it came with a huge rib that was slow cooked for 24hours. really delicious meal
KhaoSoi is a must try new restaurant in the inner Richmond. Warm and Cozy Thai comfort food made to near perfection. Everything we tried was fresh and full of flavor and intricate nuance.
The portions are great, the prices are on point and you will not find a better balance of flavor and texture and ambience all in one spot.
Do yourself a solid favor and check it out. I plan on making this a regular stop for sure. I tried several appetizers. The Samosas are so light and fluffy and the Peanut sauce a lovely companion. The cucumber salad was just the right amount of sweetness.
The Thai fried rice with Fried Chicken is some of the best I have ever had. The Beef Khao Soi falls off the bone and dives right into a delicate curry sauce with noodles. Wow!
The Khao Soi Beef was fantastic, with delicious broth, roasty sweet chili oil, and extremely soft short rib. The crunchy toppings and lime were great add ons that brought a lot of variety in texture and taste. The place is nicely decorated with chill recorded orchestral music playing and smells very pleasant from scented candles. Highly recommend for good vibes and excellent food! 👍
This clean , small space serves relaxing vibes and very tasty Thai standards. Tom yum with shrimp was outstanding , shrimp were fresh and juicy. Pad See Ew, the fantastic wok flavor was coming through which for me is a sign of an outstanding Asian place . Fried chicken for my daughter had a nice amazing breading, something like a tempura but a bit thicker, with great seasonings . Great lunch before the Japanese Tae Gardens !
A wonderful "hole in the wall" restaurant. Light and airy decor. Delicious food. Good service. I found it on Google. I have lived in the area for 40 years. Shame on me for having just discovered this gem. They take reservations. Given its small size, I suggest you make a reservation. Alas, they do not sell beer. I expect I will become a regular.
This place is a gem! The food is delicious and well priced, I got the Tom Yum noodle and the broth was flavorful and the ingredients were fresh (note: the broth was a creamy broth, as opposed to the clear broth served at most restaurants, I thought that this gave the dish more depth). The server was extremely friendly and helpful with my husband's gluten allergy. Highly recommended for a casual and delicious Thai meal.
Great food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff
I've been wanting to try khao soi for a while but there is no restaurants of that sort where I live. I stumbled upon this place and I'm blown away. This is the BEST Thai food I've ever had in the US.
Delicious neighborhood Thai spot. Great service and the food was ready within 15 minutes of ordering. I really enjoyed their Beef Khao Soi - the meat was very tender. The garden rolls were fresh and came with a flavorful sauce reminiscent of chimichurri. They also had very good Larb as their special. Will be coming back again.
Cozy little restaurant with good food. 🤙
I first heard of Khaosoi through a social media post and bookmarked it to keep in mind if I happened to be in the neighborhood. I came in on a rainy Saturday with a group of 6 for lunch. Khaosoi is a small intimate minimalistic space with some tables and individual bar seating against a wall. It took a while for everyone in my group to receive their order since it seemed like a very small staff was running operations. I opted for the Pad Thai with chicken. I liked the balance of the sweet and sour for the Pad Thai. I rarely manage to clean my plate, but it makes for a decent filling lunch. I do think it's quite pricey for a plate of noodles though.
This place was delicious. I got the beef; the short rib was about as well prepared as I have seen at most any restaurant in SF.
Very cute place! Server was very nice and attentive, the chicken khaosoi was delicious, and they gave plenty of protein!
Excellent food, not overly salty, greasy, or corn starched; wonderful humble family owners
Curry sauce was okay but the chicken was pink / seemed undercooked. Not a place I would try again.
It's such a nice and cozy kind of place. Great service and good food. I highly recommend this place.
Traveling from Thailand to the US for a month and I couldn't be happier to find this "authentic" Thai restaurant!
Tom Yam Kung and grilled pork tasted exactly like what I've eaten for my entire life in Thailand.
The food was quick and cooked fresh by the owners. Highly recommended as one of the best Thai food in the bay area.
One of best Thai restaurants I’ve tried !! This is small mom and pop restaurant where the couple makes foods and serve . Each dish was so flavorful . I loved how the taste is not giving into American’s taste which often is salty and sweet . My friend who lives in Thailand few months for year said this place is authentic .
So glad I found this place !
Place has just a few tables - but food is soooooo good!! If you like Thai do not miss this place - you can choose how hot the plate is. And no alcohol. If you are around this place (more than 26 years open ) get it and enjoy the delicious food!
They edited the tip to be more x2 than what we left
Food is delicious! We tried different plates, and all of them were amazing! Chef is really kind and friendly.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Hands down one of the best food spots around. Pat see ew was immaculate. Highly recommend ◡̈
Delicious, fresh, authentic. Go get it.
The woman owner helped my friend and I. When I ordered, I asked her a question about chicken and shrimp in the dish. I don't think she understood what I was saying, so her reaction was to shake her head at me like I was the problem, like I was making things too difficult for her.
When I asked for Sriracha or chili sauce, I was brought out some chili flakes.. ok, maybe that's all they have.
When she brought out our check, she was urging us to pay cash which is a cheap thing to say to a customer who just dined in your restaurant. We paid with card like we were originally going to do. We left asap because it was awkward being in there. Poor experience
The Trout fried too dry, and the noodle is very little.
FYI, they’re open again starting today. 4/20 🌲🌲🌲
The food is delicious and the owners are the sweetest people imaginable!
This restaurant is right by my work and it is such a treat to pick up a curry , soup or noodle dish .
Definitely the best Thai food in neighborhood!
Amazing fish dish, very cozy restaurant!
What a little gem! The food here is delicious! Total mom and pop place, literally! Walked in based on recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! Had the shrimp calamari curry, sooo good!
Very authentic and tasty! Recommended!
Outstanding local Thai restaurant run by an elderly Thai couple. Very unassuming, it looks like a home at first glance. Small and cozy. The decor is unique to say the least, but fits with their branding. Food is superb, service is kind, and orders are timely.
Amazing food
Wonderful service
Very family oriented restaurant
Great atmosphere
Consistently good food. I like how they use their spices. Fair prices & nice service.
Very tasty Thai food. A hole in the wall thai food joint. Very warm and welcoming couple who run the restaurant Food tasted ery authentic and delicious. Portion sizes were generous and prices were very reasonable too. We really enjoyed our food. Thank you
Yummy🥰👌we loved everything about it all!!! 🏴🇬🇧🐯
Great little Thai food spot. The food is very very good.
delicious! I felt at home
Run by the owners.
In and out in about 20 minutes.
Worst veggie pad Thai I’ve ever had. No peanuts, no lime, and a sauce so spicy I couldn’t eat much of it. MANY other places in the city that are much better.
Very authentic and tasty. Loved the place.
Delicious!
Excellent staff and the food was fantastic! Great veggie options
Small, hole in the wall restaurant. No beer or alcohol being sold but tasty Thai food.
Authenticate delicious Thai food
I live in San Francisco, CA but based on Google reviews I decided to drive out to Los Angeles with my husband and try this place out.
The owner advised us on what plates would b best to ty out for our first time. We had a soup, red curry and chicken with peanut sauce appetizer. (Don't remember dishes names, sorry). It was incredible!!! By far the best Thai food I have ever had !! Highly recommend !!
Great local place, always delicious
Pad Thai, Thung Thong, Choo Chee 😁
Consistently great little family-run spot. If it's crab season (in Winter), don't miss the crab fried rice.
Great little hole in the wall, super stoked to check out the rest of their menu!
We got the Thung Thong, Vegetarian Pad Thai, and Panaeng Saty Jay. The Thung Thong is crazy, I highly recommend getting them even though they are a bit greasy. The Pad Thai wasn’t exceptional, and had a lot of cabbage that I wasn’t too enthused about. The Panaeng was amazing, we got it spicy and it didn’t disappoint.
Looks like they’ve got a bunch of other great stuff too, I’ll be back.
Wow, great find! Got the spicy red curry salmon, papaya salad, spicy broccoli and black mushroom veggie sauté and a noodle dish with gravy and tofu. Best Thai food I’ve had in a very long time. Will be back soon.
Absolutely delicious every time
Really great local Thai spot. Owners are very sweet. Got the pad thai and mango sticky rice dessert.
Favorite Thai restaurant in the Richmond, excellent veggie curries and pad Thai. Quick and easy service.
Great food, glad it was open!
Great business. Amazing food and atmosphere.
Awesome vegan and vegaterianan
Delicious food.
I love this place! It’s great food for the price and good sized servings. My go to is the rad na. Delicious!!
Delicious mom and pops type if thai food.
The food was delicious, large and inexpensive. Authentic thai kitchen in a family runned restaurant. The best thai food in a long while
This is a special place! I love the personal family touch and appreciation of Children's art. The food is really good too
Had a great lunch there yesterday. I had 32 which is shrimp and squid with peppers and onions in a nice, light black bean sauce. Absolutely delicious. The squid was so tender. My only complaint is the amount of meat and the overall size of the plate was a little skimpy.
Beautiful family run hole in the wall. Amazing food and service!
Food was great! The portions were just on the smaller side.
D e l I c I o u s
Nice place....good food.
Great spot in the neighborhood for some quick take-out!
Affordable, great Thai!
The fried rice was delicious, and the decor was adorable!
Yum.
We stumbled upon this place while walking down the street looking for a place to eat for lunch. It’s a very cute & unique Thai restaurant- named after their son Tawan & full of his drawings! Fast service & very welcoming, not to mention the red curry was delicious.
The best (and spicy!) Pad kee mao in the city. Noodles are flavorful unlike the bland ones in most other thai place. But beware it can be very spicy. I have yet to find a equivalently good alternative and I've been looking for 3+ years! It's a small family restaurant, small space and not very busy in the restaurant usually but they do a lot of delivery and takeouts.
Amazing food, absolutely love this place!
Such a beautiful and lovely restaurant to find in San Francisco. Very nice ambiance and homely food. Their pictures on the walls and as well as their Menu book is impressive. We have been to this restaurant for Vegetarian Food and we are very much delighted with their food.
