Cozy, unassuming venue dispensing Thai standards, including soup, papaya salad & noodle dishes.
I had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish tasting fresh and full of vibrant flavors. It also came out impressively fast, which was a pleasant surprise. The lady who served us was not only quick but also very professional and friendly, adding to the overall great atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy another meal! Highly recommended!!!
Pam and the gentleman who answered and took my order were so friendly and helpful. They trusted me to come in such an untrusting place:/). Very good, although I asked for Thai spicy and I could handle it with no flame:🔥 or spicy 🌶️ spicy 🥵… however, it was good and you all were very accommodating. Thank you. 53.00 was a little bit harsh as the duck was very little… but again very good, and thank you..
I am currently pregnant and have been craving thai food nonstop. It’s really close by my work, and ever since the first time I tried their spicy noodles, I come here 3-4 times a month. The lady is so sweet, and whenever I brought my family or coworkers, they all love their food. Their lunch special comes with a decent amount of food, and side salad and one spring roll. I have a pretty high tolerance with spices, and medium (5 out of 10) is usually pretty good. My husband tried 9 out of 10 once because he loves his food extra spicy. He said 7 going forward lol
Thai Pepper is a wonderful eatery in Serra Mesa. Don't let the small size fool you, I've been a few times recently and enjoyed it every time!
On this occasion we enjoyed the chicken satay salad and the beef salad. Both were fantastically tasty!!
Edit- my mom forgot her card so we came back a cpl days later and had lunch again, yum!
This time she had a lunch special, the fresh ginger chicken and it was delish!!
It would normally come with rice along with an egg roll and side salad but we're currently low carbing so passed on the rice.
3 stars all the way. I last visited 9 years ago with great memories. I revisited today and was sad to find out that they have changed owner twice. I ordered my favorite Thai dish- yellow curry. It was good. Portion was much smaller than I remembered. My nephews ordered pad see ew with shrimp and Thai fried rice with BBQ pork. Both tasted more like a Chinese dish than a Thai dish. I didn't taste any Thai spice in it. I could tell you that they put abundance of soy sauce in each dish. The waitress spent most of her time tending to the customers who ordered takeout or came to pick up takeout. It's just not the same as before. I used to look forward to come to eat authentic Thai food. Not anymore. They should just rename this as Vietnamese/Chinese Pepper cuisine.
WOW! I can't say enough good things about this place. The service is so friendly, the food is prompt and yummy. Do yourself a favor and order the coconut shrimp. They were so good that we forgot to take a picture. I am also really grateful from the recommendation from our server to get the Tom Yum seafood soup, that was amazing. As with any other Thai place spot, be careful on the spicy levels as it does run spicy.
Definitely come here! It's a little spot but mighty flavor.
We went in for dinner they were slammed with to go orders. All the tables were free for dine in. The cashier was running the show in the front by herself. Cleaning tables, taking orders, delivering food, cashier and taking calls. She was very sweet and got our orders in quickly.
Pad thai tofu was delicious! The bowl is deceiving it looks small but it's so much food. I also ordered a spicy basil tofu to go. It comes with rice, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms. I tried a bite last night it's so good! It's going to make an awesome lunch today. The thai tea was delicious as well, the tea was nice and strong.
We will be back! Highly recommended for thai food!
This is my favorite lunch spot! It’s always a good deal and the portions are a great size. I’m a big fan of their Green Garden (chicken and veggies) and their Green Curry! But you can’t go wrong ordering anything on their menu. I’ve been going here for over five years and I never get tired of it.
Always perfect 🤌🏽
Had beef green curry at 7 heat level was perfect

Amazing food with family recipes!
100% recommend this place! One of thee best tasting pad thai! I got it with shrimp and a 3 spice level. It was perfect! I'll be coming back!
Cool place for amazing dishes. Spice levels are off the charts 🙌🏽. Yellow curry is my favorite dish and it's easy to order by phone or online. Quick service and the food is always piping hot.

I have got nothing but positive response. Food was great, simple and cozy atmosphere, pick up on time, everything fresh.
Nice place to have lunch
Great Thai food. Weekday lunch specials are delicious with entre, salad and egg roll. Mock duck is a great veg option. Friendly service
Please don’t come and eat here they are not clean. I got food poisoning from this place yesterday
Nice people, lunch special was tasty but a very small serving…
We enjoyed our crispy chicken hot basil and beef pad thai. For a mild heat, crispy chicken was a bit spicy probably between 4-5/10. Good thing it came with rice.
We usually order food during weekends at work. But its hard to order from them on the weekends coz they are close on Sundays. And last time via door dash they won't deliver till after 4:30pm.
Great Thai place we had the drunken noodles and crab fried rice ! Definitely a go to for my family
Thai pepper is a great Serra Mesa local spot. I generally order the drunken noodle with tofu or mock duck. The veggie to noodle ratio is perfect and they cook the veggies amazing. The sauce is well balanced, too. I have yet to try their Thai tea but I am sure it’s great.
Their lunch special is such a good deal. I prefer eating in the restaurant. It’s clean and quick service.

Solid pad see ew with beef, the basil fried chicken is a pass. They have great value on their lunch special though.

Love a community hole in the wall location. If you like spice but stil flavor don't go above a 7 or 8. Food highly recommended and top notch service
I got the pad thai lunch special - it was a generous portion and they got it out to me so quickly! really good and fresh, it hit the spot, just what I wanted.
Veggie rolls are amazing! Orange chicken was light, authentic, and delicious. Sweet sour chicken was chewy but sauce and vegetables were great. The person taking the order was smirking and laughing at me. So weird! LOL
food quality has been v good so far. rich sauces, great flavor.
ambience is average at best.
i never leave reviews on doordash orders but i swear i was having the worst night of my life and the drunken noodles made me smile for the first time the entire night. quite literally changed my life. 100000/10. i shared with 2 others and they all asked me where it's from even after reheating it it was amazing!! i did the 5/10 spicy and its perfect.
Always something good to try
Good food and fast and friendly service!
The Massaman curry is great!
We love the himapan chicken, yellow curry, and garlic beef
One of the best Thai place I've tried!
Mmm, mmm, good!! Doesn’t look like much but the food is amazing!
There’s a lot to like about Thai Pepper Cuisine. The food is fresh, very tasty and with just a subtle uniqueness to it. The prices are reasonable which more than makes up for a no frills, but comfortable, dine-in experience. The service was attentive and quick!
The menu has a lot of options with all the classic staples. We went with the basics – chicken pad Thai and chicken yellow curry. Everything was well prepared and tasty! You can’t go wrong!
It was a good experience! I opted for the Chicken Pad Thai with a spice level of 4 out of 10, and it was enjoyable. I do wish there was more chicken (although they provided enough, I'm just a big fan of chicken – as you can see in the photo, I had already eaten all the chicken!).
They were a bit late with my order, but they handled it so well and even offered a beverage as an apology. I really appreciate their excellent customer service.
I would recommend this place because their service is very good, and the food is satisfying too!
live close to this spot but didn’t know it existed until today! Cheap, yummy, and good atmosphere! Will definitely be coming back for their lunch special :)
We got a few things.. one of those things was the Thai pepper basket… this smelled rancid, I ate one bite not trusting my nose.. mistake… and it tasted rancid… it smelled like a rotten sponge and tasted like what I would think that tasted like…. I had my husband smell and try it… (he never listens to me) he said.. “it must be a spice..” I cook and assured him it was not… he ate maybe 5 bites but agreed it didn’t taste good. .. it was my dish but I refused to eat it… he put it in the fridge just in case.. he got food poisoning and the next day it smelled even worse… it wasn’t the veggies or the chicken but maybe the broth.. either way.. I won’t be going back to that place.. 🤢🤮
This neighborhood spot has become our favorite Thai place! Great food, fast service, friendly people. We tried lots of items, everything is delicious 😊
Love the food and service! Try it 😋
Best hole in the wall Thai place
My go to for lunch special
Definitely come here! It's a little spot but mighty flavor.

We will be back! Highly recommended for thai food!
Always bustin'. Drunken noodle 7 stars. Get it and praise me later.
Great place! Best pad thai and fried tofu.
Best Thia in San Diego!
This is my GO TO Thai restaurant in my area, the eggplant entree, crab fried rice, pad woon sen, and tom ka soup are all PHENOMENAL. Also one of the only restaurants that are open all day, save for lunch hour, and reliably answers the phone. Last time we ordered take out and went next door to the coffee stand, the owner personally walked our food out to us and was so kind.
3 stars all the way. I last visited 9 years ago with great memories. I revisited today and was sad to find out that they have changed owner twice. I ordered my favorite Thai dish- yellow curry. Great little hole in the wall I use to drive right by glad that I stopped in for sure I will be back
Ordered chicken fried rice and it had a strong seafood/shrimp flavor. I hate shrimp! Not only that but the rice was partially undercooked. Still had crispy rice pieces throughout the dish. Won’t be coming here again.
Fantastic experience. We (2) arrived Friday at 7:30. We were seated promptly and the menu was easy to navigate. I ordered beef pad see ew, my friend ordered chicken panang curry, and we shared a chicken larb (with tip, total was $49). The food was very flavorful and the service was great. Highly recommend, I would come back again.
In from out of town, Wife wasn't a big fan of Thai food. However, everything I ate was fantastic! So good were the leftovers the next day. They called when the order was ready (not needed) and thanked us for ordering. Sweet people!
A total disappointment with the Thai curry dish. Please do not waste your time going to this restaurant. The service was horrible and the food nasty. The waitress treated me like I was an inconvenience because she wanted to focus on the "to go orders." I ordered a Thai curry dish, and the veggies were not cooked. When I asked if the veggies could be cooked longer, I was told, "No, that's the way they're supposed to be." When I tried to explain that I was not comfortable with this raw veggie dish and wanted it cooked longer, again the cooks refused to accommodate me. I have not ever felt unwanted in restaurant, but these people did a good job of it. Now I understand now why there were no other customers in that restaurant, only me...live and learn...please do not eat at this restaurant.
Super friendly staff and the food is AMAZING! I live down the street so I’ve become a regular here. Some amazing Thai Food! Try the crispy basil chicken!
Always great quality food and big servings as well.
Shocked! I wasn't sure what to expect! We did take it and it was absolutely fantastic! Great food great price great service!!
Great food I love the costumer service
This place is great although it can get super busy. The food is delicious but if you order over the phone be sure to double check that your order is correct.
We love this spot, its a hidden gem of Serra Mesa. The food is delicious, and they're very quick (we called in an order and our food was ready in 10 minutes). The staff is very friendly as well!
Hidden gem! Great service. I had the yellow curry with chicken. I give it a 10! We will definitely be coming back, many times.
Had company lunch with 5 of us. Lunch specials were reasonably priced, low bill amount surprised us a bit. With tofu as a protein, so many vegetarian options. Cream cheese wontons were hearty and delicious. Tom Kha (coconut soup) was tasty, we shared a big bowl (they brought us smaller bowls - excellent service!) . Yellow curry (mild) was spicy enough for me. Flavor-wise it was OK. Sweet rice mango dessert was a good finisher.
Delicious. Authentic Thai. I had the Thom Yum with noodles and seafood. We ate in. Service was great! We brought a cake for our friend’s birthday. Without asking, they brought us plates, candles, and a lighter! SERVICE! Highly recommended for quick Thai.
Food is amazing and the service is too. Highly recommend this place
First and foremost this place has much more flavorful food than Thai places where you’ll spend 20$ a person and not only that they always have great service with a smile
Great flavors! Highly recommend! I had the pad Thai with shrimp. Very delicious.
If you have been thinking, I wonder if that Thai place is any good? Wonder no more! It's so good! We got it to go. I had been craving peanut sauce so I had a praram with chicken, I went mild because I wasn't sure their version of mild lol. And it was great! I could have gone medium for spice level for sure. We also ordered the himmaparn medium spice and it was delicious! The coconut shrimp and the cream cheese wontons were also fantastic! Can't wait to try it again!
You will glad to made a stop here! Great food and glad to see they are taking a week long break! We will miss our great Thai food, but glad you folks are having some time off. We will see you when you open up again.
WOW! I can't say enough good things about this place. The service is so friendly, the food is prompt and yummy. Do yourself a favor and order the coconut shrimp. Staff was super nice. Prices were fair. My new Thai spot for sure
Love the yellow curry lunch special
The peanut noodle is >>>>>>
Had a work lunch here. Good prices for the lunch combo, and the curry had a good kick.
I feel like most Thai places are excellent at the core curry and pad Thai dishes, but this place truly excells at the other ones as well. Pla lard chili is amazing and I would highly recommend it.
It tastes authentic Thai. Try the Thai tea as well.
Awesome staff and one of my favorite Thai places in San Diego! I love the Panang Curry and the fresh rolls. Parking is easy for dine in & take out. One of the best restaurants in Serra Mesa
So good!!! And the staff so friendly
This beautifully decorated Thai cuisine experience ranks high among the tasty eateries I have had the privilege of finding in San Diego. Their Red Curry and Pad Thai come beautifully balanced with a wide array of fresh vegetables and a well versed spice range. I would highly recommend coming in to try their timeless menu.
This place is so awesome. Great prices, great food, clean can sodas for customers. I always get chicken wings and more rices for my family and it's alway well done with freshly cooked rice. I appreciate this place and there service.
It was Good!
I ordered the Chicken pad thai with spicy at level 4 out 10! It was good. I wish there was more chicken. (They gave enough but I really like the chicken lol) in the photo, I already ate all the chicken!
They had my order (just a couple minutes) late but they were so nice about it and offered a beverage to say sorry. I really appreciate their good customer service.
I would recommend because their service is very good and food is good too!
I’m craving this place right now! I haven’t lived in San Diego for 3 years but used to come here all the time. I always got the same thing and they knew my order. They are friendly and clean. I miss this place so much. It’s the cutest little shop. You can’t get Thai food like this in Phoenix
The food is great! The service is A1!
Pad Thai to die for! This place is a hidden gem that I wish I had found sooner!
Always great pad thai and panang curry!
Best Pad Thai in town! Also amazing portions and great service!
The worst place, their customer service is the worst
The best
Friendly staff, good prices and great food. Update: they have stepped up their takeout game, slightly changed a few things and it's def better now. The lunch specials are a great deal.
Finally I've found a great Thai place! Had to drive a little ways for it but will again and again. The place around the corner from us doesn't compare to Thai Pepper.
I love this restaurant for Thai food! I always get the drunken noodles and sometimes the pad Thai and it's consistently delicious! The folks who work here are always so sweet. A great hole-in-the-wall for lunch or dinner!
Excellent
Delicious pad thai and so much more!
The best Thai food I've had in San Diego
Noodle dishes are perfection!
This place is amazing.
Crying tiger beef! The best I've had so far.
I don't really like Thai food, but my husband finally convinced me to try this place and I was absolutely wowed! I had the veggie chow mein and it was incredibly delicious. The flavors were so special, and all of the veggies were cooked right. My husband had the chicken pad Thai and that was also really good.
Good stuff
Staff was super friendly and food was tasty. It's very dated and kind of old ambiance. I normally overlook this, but would have appreciated knowing this up front as I took a business colleague here and would have chosen another place that had better atmosphere had I known. Ordered a side of pork and we got a mostly fat pieces. Granted this was off the menu. The thom kha soup, lard nar, and panang curries all had good taste.
High quality and reasonably priced. I usually go with my family of 5 and they serve us larger portions family style. I have never had less than a pleasant experience there. Thai Pepper is a great local gem.
An excellent meal for a greater price!
Great tasting food, price are very reasonable!!
Super delicious food, very reasonable pricing. I visit often, never disappointed.
Delicious! Penang Curry with shrimp was fantastic!
Honestly really average, located next to this smoke shop, pretty tiny place. Food is simple and standard maybe the selection is just too wide. But everything is just okay. It's not bad, but not amazing.
Thai pepper always good
Tiny but delicious! Had the massaman vegetable curry and it was perfect, big chunks of vegetables with a fantastic coconut sauce. Service was very friendly and quick. Would recommend to anyone looking for great take-out or a quick dine-in in this neighborhood, will visit again.
Loved it. Great food. Good customer service too.
Had the kra pao with pork. Loved it! Lovely hosts too. One of my favorite Thai places in San Diego.
The Tom Kha soup is the best I’ve had!
And I’ve been on the search for a while now!!!
Excelente pineapple fried rice
This place is a great little hole in the wall restaurant. Cheap lunch specials, great staff and awesome yellow curry.
This is my second visit to this restaurant. I was sufficiently satisfied the first time, when I had a wide noodle dish, to return and try again. Since I don't eat meat, I can't comment on the carnivorous varieties but I enjoyed the noodle dish here very much. The lunch special also comes with soup, which they can provide without w/o chicken broth. One of the best things I can say so far about this restaurant is the service, which is always phenomenally friendly and relaxing. Today I diverged from my vegan diet and had the Drunken Fish on the lunch special. The quantity was very generous for a lunch special and the meal was great. I asked for no spice and it still burned my mouth but was not too hot to eat. Overall, this appears to be a good restaurant with good prices, generous portions, and great service.
Sorry to say, I actually forgot what I ate here a few weeks ago but wanted to come back and leave a review. I believe this is a family-owned restaurant. The food is authentic and very good and the lady who waited on me was sweet. I will definitely be eating there again and try to add more info later about the menu.
Great food, excellent flavors. Quick service too.
Love this place for take out
Standard Thai cuisine at a good price. Our meal was pretty good, no complaints, but not the best I’ve ever had either. Solid 4 stars, would go again.
I previously gave this restaurant a five-star. Upon revisiting with family members a couple a months later, the food that evening didn't taste any where close to the first time. The food tasted terrible and they got the spice level all wrong. I'll return but anytime soon.
The food was delicious. The only issue was the wait time/service. Took a very long time to get our food but the food made up for it.
Update: have been back a couple times, and the wait time is still extremly long but the food quality has been sub par. Will not be going back.
Delicious! Traditional Thai favorites in a cozy neighborhood location. Super friendly staff too.
Good Thai food
Excellent food, and wonderful staff!!
Very good food that is fresh and tasty. I had the crispy basil chicken and my husband got the beef curry with potato and we shared veggie spring rolls. The food was so good my 5 yr old son ate the curry.🙂
Good service and real Thai food
This is a slightly above average Thai place. The inside can seat a lot of people, the menu is pretty extensive, staff is okay. The prices are average.
I ordered the spicy noodles to-go, and it was prepared pretty fast, although there was only table occupied. It was a good portion, the noodles were fresh, and it came with onion, bell pepper, carrot, and basil. These noodles were pretty spicy, and I asked for a 2 spicy, but I think just the way it's prepared is sufficiently spicy.
Overall, this would be a good choice for a meal, plus there's lunch specials.
A simple and unobtrusive storefront belies rich and fantastic flavors all provided by attentive and friendly staff. Simply stepping inside the restaurant you can smell the fantastic cuisine. The menu is robust, providing all sorts of options, while the pricing is surprisingly good. They offer lunch specials on weekdays as well. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and definitely a worthwhile restaurant for a lovely meal.
Great food ,small intimate atmosphere great people
Small restaurant with good flavor in the food.
Amazing lunch special! This is my favorite lunch spot in this area. Great food and service. Try the green curry and drunken noodles.
Comida muy rica, mucha variedad y buen precio
