Named after the word for "food" in Thai Language, AAHARN advertises itself as a modern Thai restaurant, offering a menu of authentic Thai dishes in San Diego. We have created an authentic Thai dishes from our high quality imported ingredient from Thailand.
With over 10-year experiences in the restaurant industrial, we selected the least oil cooking method and no deep fried cooking for our menu while keeping menu interested for you to taste and love it.
IT JUST HEALTHIER AND MORE TASTY !!!
See you soon.
I cannot say enough positive things about Aa-harn. We visited the University City location and thought it was cozy and cute. We will definitely visit the Downtown location next. The staff was so helpful letting us know which items could be made vegan and had such amazing recommendations for us too.
In the end we Bangkok mixed veggies, yellow curry, and pad se ew for our mains; fresh tofu rolls, edamame for appetizers, and mango sticky rice for dessert. We were stuffed and had so much leftovers. My partners favorite was the Bangkok mixed veggies and mango sticky rice and my favorite was the yellow curry and fresh tofu rolls. Everything is reasonably priced and incredibly tasty and fresh.
I visited Aa-harn with my vegan partner and the staff were so helpful and nice in letting us know which menu items were vegan or could be made vegan. We ended up with way more food than we needed (but that was nice because we love leftovers)
There are lots of great happy hour specials and great dishes in general. We’re excited to try the downtown location next.
Nice and authentic Thai food. No comment on atmosphere and service because I ordered take out. Food wise is good. Do note the spicy level is really spicy, especially the drunken noodles. Should have gone for medium spicy. Drunken noodle can be better because noodles are abit under seasoned. Phad Thai is good. Overall I like the food.
Great food and very friendly staff!!! Curry is super savory, lamb is so tender, noodles are tasty!
Don't understand why people give one star simply because it's spicy - Thai food is famous for its special chilli, and of course you could do a mild level or simply don't do their spicy dishes:)
What a good find! They are connected to the Koon Thai off Convoy which we stumbled upon a few months ago. They offer similar generous portions, delicious warm noodles, and sweet and creamy Thai tea. This will be a new go to spot for me I think! We got the chicken pad see ew and chicken pad Thai which were both very delicious! They also seem to have a reward system that we signed up for since we will be coming back here a lot.
The food was not bad. Service is a bit slow, and it could use an extra 1 or 2 servers. Place was clean staff was friendly. Food was priced for the area so seems reasonable.
Good selection, generally spicy so discuss with server.

Quite rude!
Pad See Ew is usually my go-to choice for Thai food, but this one was disappointing. The noodles were thin, there were almost no vegetables, and the sauce just didn’t taste good.
can’t even review the food because they ignored us for 15 minutes when we were trying to be seated. restaurant was not busy at all
Very friendly staff, and they were able to customize dishes to your preferred spice level. Very tasty

Thai atmosphere
Very stingy place. The female manager was rude and unprofessional. She said we couldn’t eat inside because we ordered we didn’t specify our call in order, then she went on to try to charge us $3 for extra sauce in small 2 oz. Plastic cup.
The food was mediocre. I won’t be returning.
Incredible quality and very reasonable. Dog friendly too!
First time here and enjoyed very much. The servings are large. Our waitress was great and kind
The food is excellent, definitely a go to spot for any Thai cravings. The service is great, and the ambiance is spectacular
Food was okay. Fried tofu was like shoe leather. The rest of dinner was okay. Not the best Thai food I've ever had.
I have ordered from here 15+ times since moving to the area. The drunken noodles are SO good
Definitely hands down the best Thai food I’ve tried. Their spicy is a TRUE Thai spicy, great for take out or dine in
Very tasty lamb shank
Always get the drunken noodles and cream cheese puffs. Never been disappointed! Love how spicy the drunken noodles are.
AMAZING FOOD
Service was fine but the food was bleh! My favorite food is thai food so I always love trying new thai restaurants around town. Theres not much pickins on this side of town so I chose this one but was skeptical because of the already bad reviews. Well they were right. I have never in my life tasted bland thai food. I think its because of the area but still it was weird tasting. I got the panang curry which is the most flavorful thai dish you can get and it was soooo bland. Like no salt or coconut flavor. Just curry flavor BLEH! To add, they sit the rice next to the curry in the togo tray and curry spilled all over the rice making it one big flavorless mush pile. Disappointing but not suprised. I'll take the L. 0/10 don't reccomend!
Very good Thai restaurant. Food tastes great. Vegetarian/vegan friendly. I bring all my friends and co-workers here. Warm environment and staff is super nice and welcoming.
The waitress is very rude, yelling at people to wait outside while it’s not busy at all. And the food was bad.
Just when I needed a quick healthy lunch, very tasty and the perfect portion size for me.
Pleasantly surprised by this place. Had the fresh rolls, red curry and Thai tea. Everything tasted great.
Not happy with this place... that's all I'll say.
OMG! I think it is my new favourite place for Thai food in San Diego which doesn’t hurt my pocket, had generous portion sizes and tastes AMAZING! We ordered Tom yum soup (pot) and chicken fried rice with spice level 3 and it was great. I would keep going back. The place was very pleasant and the staff was very kind to us as we took extra time to order and left after the restaurant closed haha.
Rice s not white w tough texture not smooth soft to chew n swallow.. The curry was watery. Padtai was disgusting in texture n taste…disgusting all around. Will never return ever!!!
Excellent food and efficient service with a smile!
Great Thai food! The best I’ve had in SD. Their Khao Soi is amazing, even as a takeout meal, and the Pad See Ew was also really good. Decently spicy even at the very mild level so be careful with that!
I live in this neighborhood and eat here regularly, and I am still BLOWN AWAY by how good this place is. GET THE KAO SOI! It's a dream come true. The broth is flavorful and creamy, the wheat noodles are hearty and comforting... I can't recommend it enough. The cream cheese puffs and the cashew nut are also excellent. You might consider skipping the thai tea, though, because it's way too sweet. I also like that this place lets me use my own containers when I call for takeout. If you go, check out the wall art - paintings of food with fake food glued to it. This place has a special place in my heart.

Amazing food! Listen to the staff when it comes to spice level and you won’t have a problem!
Awesome food. Super nice folks working there.
Fair price and good taste. Love the fish and the sticky rice.
Very nice staff, food is delicious. Easy parking.

Its delicious!! Really good. Very clean!
Been looking for some great Thai food in the LA Jolla area and we stumble upon this one. Tried it and ordered their Drunken Noodles and Yellow Curry. At first the Yellow Curry lemon grass was very strong but the Drunken Noodles was cooked perfectly and the basil is not super strong. The portions were good and I'll definitely come back again. 👍
This place is the best Thai place I’ve been to. The food, environment, and service are absolutely amazing!
Wow. This is some of the best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand! Really flavorful and well prepared. Will definitely return. Yum!
They always have great food
Food was delicious and the service was fast.
Low-key, yummy spot! We live nearby and came in for dinner, it was very tasty and great price. It can be spicy, so choose your spice level on the conservative side! 5 was perfect for us and we are used to spicy food haha.
Delicious Thai in UTC area.
Great food and very friendly staff!!! Curry is super savory, lamb is so tender, noodles are tasty!
Don't understand why people give one star simply because it's spicy - Thai food is famous for its special chilli, and of course you could do a mild level or simply don't do their spicy dishes:)
Local favorite! Lived in SD for 5 years and have enjoyed many Thai restaurants! This is a great spot! Spice level is the only inconsistency. 7-4 spice level seems to be the same, which is delicious but intense. I think the chef truly knows the best flavor and just be prepared for deliciousness but heat 🔥be humble here with spice and go low
Ordered massaman curry and sweet soy se-ew to-go. Food was packaged well and super flavorful! I appreciated that the woman over the phone double-checked the spice level and made sure we were ordering at the correct location. Will definitely come back whenever we're craving Thai food!
I've never ever had thai food. I tried it for the 1st time today. I really enjoy it. This is my favorite Thai restaurant for. Now. Thank u for this enjoyable experience of tasting your fine cooking.
Low quality. Dish was too sweet, too salty. Feels like amateur cook with no understanding of Thai flavors. Spring roll was tasteless, not.balanced at all. Stir fry was meh. Laab Gai was poor asmmentioned above. Overall waste of your buck
Sister restaurant to Koon Thai on Convoy. Cute interior. Similar recipes to Koon Thai. I got Khao Soi. Good here like at Koon Thai. Not every Thai restaurant offers this Northern dish so I usually order this when coming to a restaurant that does...
Food was amazing! Ordered the chili fish, chicken satay, and spring rolls. While everything tasted amazing, the stand out was the peanut curry sauce they provide for the satay and spring rolls. For sure coming back!
Watery sauce, disgusting and too hot. The staff were ride and aggressive. Never again
Delicious Thai cuisine; love it!
Omg- I REALLY love these cream cheese puffs I had..Delicious !! It's a cool little restaurant & I love the artwork they feature in the dining room. Wonderful papaya salad, & I also tried this wild rice that was different & kinda bland(like rice is)& I enjoyed it. Will def get it again. ( Forgive my atrocious writing. I'm too tired .) Try this place - u will like it
I have tried this place 3x. They are very inconsistent with their spice. I ordered spice level 6 the first time and it was insanely hot. Tonight I ordered spice level 6 and there was NO SPICE. I called to have them correct the order and the elderly lady (owner or manager?) gave me attitude and said 6 was mild. I waited another 20 mins for them to remake the second time I drove back. Curry is super watery anyway. I'm not even mad they can't get the food right, it’s the poor service. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE THEY ARE GRATEFUL TO TAKE YOUR MONEY.
Left “spice 6”, right “spice 7”.
Today is April/01/2022 around 7:00pm to 8:00pm, I went to AAHARN Tai restaurant located at 3324 Governor Dr., San Diego, CA 92122. There is a Asian woman around 30 to 40 years old, around 5 feet 6 inches, her body type average. She has short black hair, cut flush to the earlobe. At the beginning, she from the kitchen came out and talked to people with friendly, she seem very nice at the beginning. She asked people a question, she asked :" Have you been help ?" But after she just ask the question 1 second, she suddenly totally change immediately and yelled loundly with rude and crazy, she yelled:" Get out !" She seem try to kick someone out when nobody did wrong. After we find out she is a very aggressive woman.
She is the person work for that restaurant with rude, crazy and aggressive.
Absolutely terrible, ordered Medium on spicy and the made it un-edible. Absolutely no excuse.
Best Thai food I've ever had. The duck and chili fish are awesome! 👌👌👌👌👌
1st time to drop in from my college kids house down the street, and it was amazing- Shrimp spring rolls were fresh and huge and panang curry chix at level 5 was amazing! Will definitely recommend and return 🇹🇭 🌶❤
Super duper great curry
Ordered panang curry and pad kee mao. Curry was really good, noodles were ok.
Medium level is very spicy, make sure you choose the right spice level.
I really appreciate having good quality affordable Thai food in University City. Aaharn is a sister restaurant to Koon Thai in Kearny Mesa, which has always been among my favorite Thai restaurants in the county. Aaharn has a much more trimmed down menu compared to Koon Thai, but offers the same quality and great service along with ample parking and an attractive interior. The staff at Aaharn have always been friendly and helpful and the portions are quite large.
Amazing and delicious food…they have vegan options too!!We enjoy medium spicy food so felt the food was more spicy for the level(medium and mild for soup) we wanted (hence 4 stars) so would suggest please go one spice level lower!!And would definitely order food again…
Ordered spicy fried rice, a ridiculous amount of vegetables and hardly any rice. I was shocked at the small amount of rice they gave me, won’t be wasting my money again
Drove to San Diego on Wednesday July 14th with my husband and daughter. My daughter and I craved panang curry and decided to order from Aaharn at University City. We ordered panang tofu. The curry was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS 😋!!!! The waitresses very friendly and welcoming. The next time you crave Thai food checkout Aaharn at University City.
Delicious food
Great authentic Thai restaurant, our new staple for take out. Best Thai food in San Diego by far!
My favorite Thai restaurant for take out! Great value for money and amazing flavors. Highly recommend their curries and soups!
(My experience dining outdoors here during the pandemic restrictions wasn’t remarkable; not sure if it’s any different now.)
Wow! What a pleasant surprise! Aaharn Thai is tucked in the corner of a strip mall but was in the right place at the right time for me. I stopped in for lunch and was totally impressed by the food! My compliments to the chef! My wife had the Pina fried rice and I had the Tom Kha Noodle Soup. Outstanding! I recommend Aaharn Thai!
I had the most delicious Tom Yum here!
Great food, great service
Cosistantly good Thai food! We’ve been going here since it opened in University City and haven’t been disappointed yet, even with their take out during the pandemic. They let you “customize” your dish for ingredients and spice level to satisfy the whole family. I’m really glad they opened here!
Ordered panang curry, Pad See Ew and Red curry and asked for medium spicy which we usually do at any Thai restaurant. After taking a bite it felt like it was spice level 15. Horribly awfully spicy. Threw everything out. No one ate dinner tonight 😡
Went to the Stone Brewery tap room for dinner and a show. This is an option for food to be ordered to the tap room. Ordered chicken and edamame. Chicken and sauce was pretty good, edamame was cold...all of it. The location is literally in the same building as the taproom.
Very good Thai food in University City.
Good price and HUGE portions. Really like the panang curry.
The food is BOMB!! Green curry hits the spot. Great service super nice, & good pricing.
I got Curry Kit from AA-HARN at University City.It comes with two pack of curries and one pack of noodle I chose yellow curry and red curry. It’s the best quality Curry kit in affordable price....Quality products with quality functions.Taste is delicious 😋
Thanks for patronize with us🙏
I did not want to give them a bad review and went back twice to work something out.
My hand for reference and I have small hands. This is the smallest portion size I have ever seen for Larb, at least 1/4th smaller than any I have ordered all over the country and in Bangkok. I should have rejected it but I was hungry and on a time limit.
It was also a different price than listed on the plack and was told it was the old price, sorry.
Being 1/4th the standard size is just infuriating and ridiculous.
This Thai place is next to the UC Sprouts . It has decent food. .. convenient if you live in the area.a good duck curry, pad Thai and the usual fare
Love this place. Cute, cozy local Thai place
Everything was outstanding.
Excelente!
Just OK for me
Our mild pad Thai was almost too spicy to eat. If they were more consistent with the spice, I would eat here more often as it is one of the few restaurants in University City.
Found my new favorite place to eat out. Good food and very good prices. It's a quiet little restaurant and has great service. Highly recommend.
Great food! Authentic taste! Great service! Great ambiance and atmosphere! 👍 A must for anyone who loves Thai food!
Great food
What a gem of a find! Dropped in randomly because I was shopping late next door for groceriesm. Didn't have high expectations and was blown away. Maybe my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego. Everything was so fresh and delicious it was amazing. I had Tom Kah soup and spicy beef salad and both were absolutely top quality. In particular the beef in the salad was grilled so perfectly it was like getting the best piece of barbeque steak but with all of the spicy Thai goodness added. I love this dish almost always at Thai places but I don't think I've almost ever had the beef grilled quite so perfectly.
Service was great and the atmosphere was more modern and classy than I would have thought from a place in a shopping center.
I will for sure be back to try some other dishes.
BTW, I chose "mild" when she explained the spice levels and I can say that it's definitely a "spicy" place. My spice level is normally a medium and I'm glad I ordered mild. Plenty of kick even at this level.
Hot and spicy - NO JOKE. Delish Thai food!!! Lunch specials and a limited happy hour too.
Very good service, food delicious... will come back against
Came here and got pad thai with chicken and thai iced tea and gyoza.
I thought the lunch special came with the appetizer, but on the bill, they charged me for the appetizer. I didn't care to let them know, but at least people will know for next time.
The thai ice tea is not good at all. I wouldn't recommend it. Literally no tea flavor. Too much milk, overly sweet, and too much ice.
The pad thai was good. I got it mild spicy 4 and that might be too spicy for some people. Because the drink was overly sweet, this dish didn't help at all. I felt like the dish was on the sweeter side. Chicken was cooked as expected for this dish. Flavorful, just wasn't authentic. One nice thing they add to the dish is a fried dessert (i think the filing was mango).
Service was excellent.
I may try something else but as of now, low priority that I will come back here on my own.
Excellent, highly recommended. Personally I love the red and Penang curry. The table loved the Thai fried rice.
This was the first time I visited a Thai restaurant and I had one of the best fried rice. Beware of the spice level as I tried medium spicy and I was crying on my way out. But it was worth it. You should definitely try the Thai Ice tea.
great food, nice cozy atmosphere, very spicy
Pretty place and friendly staff. Chicken was dry and tuff. Will not return.
Good spring rolls
The interior decoration and Menu presentation are neat, but the food is mediocre. If you are expecting authentic Thai food made from scratch, then this is not the place. I suspect they have all pre-made bases which they customize with the protein choices and spice level. We ordered Tom Yum Soup, which was very salty and Sour. The orders were messed up even after double checking. The noodle dish was bone dry, all veggies in the curry were mushy..Would not go back!
Food is tasty! Prices reasonable
Since I am a frequent visitor to Thailand and love Thai food, I was excited to go to this new Restaurant in my neighborhood. I have eaten at hundreds of Restaurants in Thailand but this is the first time I was in a Thai Restaurant where I was given a Wine menu first. It is very rare to see Wine served with Thai food in Thailand. I ordered one of my favorite very common Thai dishes because I love the flavor and the large flat noodles. To my disappointment it was served without the large flat noodles. Flavor was ok, but it sure didn't taste like genuine Thai Pad See Uwe. This may appeal to Americans who have not tasted real Thai food and enjoy wine with dinner, but if you are looking for an authentic Thai dinner experience I would stay away.
t
Delicious food AND good service! Great to have a good restuarant near home!
Terrible service. Possibly understaffed, either way, took me an hour and a half to get a single curry and some spring rolls.
Ok, they’re in the back corner of a mall in the wasteland that is University City (connect both sides of Regents already!) but this place is great! It’s Thai food and there’s lots of Good Thai food in San Diego, so you already have an idea of what’s on the menu but everything is made fresh and tastes great! Lots of vegetables too: I had a squash curry and it was served with bell peppers cooked but still firm and crispy. YUM! You can even get a quarter of a duck (not just sliced duck like at Spices, but duck, on the bone!) I think I still prefer Amarin in Hillcrest but when you factor in how much easier it is to get to AAHARN you’ll come back again and again :)
Coconut lemongrass soup excellent. Mixed vegetables with shrimp was great with enough left over for lunch.
The service was extraordinary
The food is delicious and presented beautifully. The interior is calm and decorated nicely.
Fair prices. They also have take out
Parking is easy. Easy to find on Governor near Sprouts.
I will recommend this restaurant and most definitely return.
Love this place. It's our new go-to restaurant and delivery. I like that we can order a different level of spiciness for each dish. My mom can't tolerate any spice and she's able to eat Thai for the first time.
Started coming here to dine in and get take out during the soft opening in June when some of the menu items were not yet available. Finally was able to order our traditional favorites in July. It was worth the wait to get the Pad Thai and Basil Chicken. Every dish we have had was spiced perfectly per their choice of 6 levels. Khao Soi curry noodles is a dish we have never had in 20+ years of Thai dining and is now on our list of favorites. The staff is very friendly. The room is beautifully decorated.
