They have really good food and it is filling. The soft shell crab is good. The sushi seems fresh. A bit on the higher price but you get what you pay for in the portioning. Definitely will return for more.

I’ve always felt like Samurai provides the best value in Monterey County for sushi. The rolls aren’t overpriced. It can get busy at lunch and dinnertime, so be prepared to wait if you aren’t a bit early. I personally love their baked mussels. My favorite rolls are Melissa, Monterey, Diablo, and Oh Shrimp!

Hidden little jem! Come here a lot and always make sure to get the Spicy Chirashi, the appetizer Mussels. Only place you'll find this delicious spicy chirashi and I've eaten all across this peninsula. They have so many rolls, you'll definitely find something delicious here.

This place wins. I got a dinner special. 3 choice plate. It was all really good. From the miso soup to the salad. I enjoyed the hot tea. Staff was polite and helpful.

Food is great and fairly priced. Service is ok they were under staffed for a Friday night. Main courses came in intervals so some in our party were well into their meals before everyone got their food (5 in our party). But it was all really good food. Worth the wait.

I took my daughter for her birthday and had a very pleasant experience. We were waited on immediately and was checked on several times during my visit. Food came to our table with reasonable time..Food was so fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was great. There's a variety of choices on the menu. Ice cream was homemade and creamy. I really recommend this restaurant.

I drove 2.5hr to Salinas, to visit my sister and she took me here. OMG!!!! Friendly service, good atmosphere, the menu.... hold on to your taste buds. HUGE menu and I found that they will modify or make any roll you want. Makeup your own roll and get it posted on the wall maybe even get it on the menu.
If you are ever in Salinas I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. I've been told they even do Korean food?
If your in the area go, you won't regret it.

If you want sushi in a pinch this is the place but I like a meal to go with my sushi. The bento boxes leave a lot to be desired. I am old school when flap meat was used for the beef, it used to be so juicy but now it's a lower grade beef so very tough. The chicken is thigh meat so hard to over cook but it is.

Best Sushi on the whole peninsula!

This was my first time going there. I am glad we went in. We were greeted by a really sweet lady who had a great smile. We ordered the lemon..something roll off of the customer creations posted on the wall. It was very yummy!! We also ordered a sushi box 1. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. We took it to go as we were at an event across the street. It was ready pretty quick. Prices were really good for the portions we got. We were both very happy. The restaurant was very clean. We will be going back to try other items and recommending Samurai to others. Samurai is great!!

I used to come to this shop regularly when I was in H.S(2002ish) Only reason I stopped is because I always feel like I'm treated like a bad guy or a child. I get I look young for a 40 year old ,but I'm far from a teenager. I come from the fine food industry, where hospitality is the main reason folks would always come back...because we treated them like guest, not customers...nor did we stereotype.
Whenever I order I always ask to please not put any topicco aka fish eggs because I'm highly allergic...but they always put them on top of my order... When I try to call back with the same number I made my Togo order with, they wouldn't answer (so I thought maybe because they closed mid day still)...but why would you answer when I called from my mother's phone shortly after my 3 calls beforehand?

I don't complain on reviews and usually give praise to a shop I reviewed... I have a pretty good reviewing record on here.. Im sorry if this upsets you, but I had to figure out another way of getting your attention to my issues every time. I don't like wasting money on something I have to give away or toss out because of a allergy thing.. I hope you do have a better innerstanding where I'm coming from. Peace and I still love you

Consistently good. No frills. Not fancy. Just good food. Each roll has its own distinct flavor. Rolled tightly enough to fit in your mouth. The bathroom is through the kitchen. Again, not fancy. So "go" before you go.

Great service. Sushi unagi hand roll& spider roll were great. Edaname was fine would of preferred maldon salt In stead of Morton's but it doesn't really need salt.

Obviously we are currently living in a rough time, and its businesses like Samurai that are accommodating to the times and offering online ordering. There service is quick and offer up some awesome sushi box specials. If your looking for delicious to go sushi this is the place.

I'm fairly timid when it comes to trying new combinations in sushi rolls. However, this place provided a comforting environment and, most importantly, awesome sushi! I ordered a San Francisco Roll and tried a TNT Roll, and both were very tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere of the place feels very community-oriented, and from what I heard from the friends we met for dinner, the place is almost always packed with people. Whether you want a simple roll, something a bit more complex, or one of the other awesome dishes available on the menu, I highly recommend this establishment!

Awesome Japanese restaurant. Food was delicious. A bit cold though. It was valentines day, and was crazy busy. Maybe that is why it was a bit warm and not hot. Sushi is great with an extensive number of items. I am very sure regardless of your taste you will find something you will love. Varies between hot and mild. But really amazing collection. They also have a dinning area where hot can sit on the floor for full Japanese experience. Staff are super friendly.

A health inspector told me it is the cleanest place in salinas but i have had sushi everyware and this spot is always the best shrimp tempura roll would be my last meal if i had to pick one befor i died
