Sacramento is a paradise full of mouth-watering Thai food options. One such option is, Thai Lotus Cuisine located in the courtyard of Chinatown off of J Street in Downtown Sacramento. This charming restaurant is inviting with a warm ambiance. The portions are generous and packed with Thai spices. The entrees are incredibly fresh and authentic, transporting you straight to Thailand. The cucumber salad is addictively delicious. Also, the warm porridge will warm your soul. Portions can be shared, so you can try multiple dishes. This is a great lunch date spot, since it's located in the historic Chinatown area. Grab a delicious lunch and then explore the historical architecture and statues. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

I don't review often but when I do. Great portions and price. The lady at the counter was super sweet and just told me to please take a seat while I waited for takeout. The ginger in the rice was awesome with well cooked proteins. Little bit of work hei as well for those who know. I really would recommend it.

Diner Review №3

Came here a couple of times for lunch. The complexity of the flavors and noodle dishes definitely fills a niche in the immediate area. Portions are filling, but the wait time for orders can take a while.

My gripe with the pad see ew is the same gripe I have with all the Asian fried noodle dishes today in the broader area: it needs a harder fry that puts some color on the noodles. Otherwise the dish comes off as somewhat one-dimensional.

Overall: Hidden? Yes. A gem? Debatable.

Diner Review №4

Quiet, friendly service, and yummy curry noodle soup, and papaya salad.

Diner Review №5

Very nice in all respects. The food was delicious and the prices were right. I will definitely be back.

Diner Review №7

I loved the tofu fresh rolls! They were made right then! The tofu was even warm, so good!

Diner Review №8

I had a wonderful dinner here last night. I started with a complementary soup that was this delicious potato-lemongrass soup; very tasty. The chicken pad see ew was amazing; probably some of the best Thai food I’ve tasted since visiting Thailand. The server was so nice too, we had a nice chat about Thailand and she was nice enough to endure my attempt at speaking some Thai. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Diner Review №10

Wonderful little place with fantastic thai food at reasonable prices! Went here on Sat evening and were greeted warmly by a kind couple. Massaman curry and tom yum noodle soup were excellent along with smoked salmon fresh spring rolls.

Diner Review №11

Diner Review №12

Fresh spring rolls were soo flavorful. I really enjoyed it with the peanut sauce. We ordered the red curry and my favorite part was the eggplant in it and also the sauce!

Service was great! They were attentive and available when we needed something.

Overall, definitely some good Thai flavors in this restaurant and worth the visit. You should try!

Diner Review №13

I was craving Asian food and found this authentic thai restaurant across the road from our hotel. It was very quiet for a Saturday night - only 3 tables. The service was friendly, food was delicious - we had potstickers, eggplant stir-fry with tofu, bbq chicken, thai ice tea and thai ice coffee. Large, generous portions for affordable price. Would highly recommend coming here if you are in the area!

Diner Review №15

Very cute place, super nice staff and delicious food!!

Diner Review №16

Every time I go to the DOCO area I see the restaurant sign illuminating the stairs. The sign is just drawing you in to an amazing gem!

Small inside but so much flavor potential. The pad Thai and green curry were on point. The curry came with rice! (big win!)

My husband gobbled his beef pad Thai up in on sitting.

Don't do what I did, which was waited to long to try this restaurant.

Staff were super friendly and helpful!

Food was fast and hot all the back to my house!

Highly recommend!

Diner Review №17

HIDDEN GEM 💎 ALERT! Thai Lotus is great! They are never busy and always friendly! The restaurant is cute, not fancy and the food is always always fresh! I come here for lunch and before Kings games. Super close to the entrance and 25% of the cost vs places in DOCO.

Sometimes the fresh spring rolls with shrimp are tempura 🍤 still hot! Amazing.

Larb is great and I get the Basil Stir fry every time. They do not mess around with the heat, so order mild if you are sensitive.

Diner Review №24

Tucked below street level, this Thai spot was hard to find, and unfortunately, it wasn’t quite worth the search. The food was mediocre at best. I had the pad Thai, which came out overly wet and lacked the flavor you’d expect from such a classic dish. It wasn’t bad, but certainly not great. On the bright side, the service was friendly, and the owner went above and beyond, keeping the doors open past closing, which was a nice touch. Sadly, that level of hospitality couldn’t quite make up for the subpar food. If you’re in the area, it’s okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Diner Review №25

This was a hidden gem. The only place open in around there. Very close and the service was wonderful. Very quite and easy to have a conversation. We recommend Thai Lotus Cuisine for the curry.

Diner Review №26

Diner Review №27

Service was exceptional and oh my ,the food! Wow! The spring rolls are wonderful. Prices are very reasonable. Cannot say enough about this place. Go try it.

Diner Review №28

The service was excellent, I ordered takeout but decided to dine in and the man was very easy going and polite. The restaurant looks clean and is a comfortable space to enjoy a meal. Even though I ordered take out, when I was eating in the restaurant he offered to fill my water container with ice multiple times. I ordered the pad thai with extra toufu and the portions was massive. You can easily feed 2 adults and a couple of children on the pad thai alone, the taste of the pad thai was really different then most places in a unique way. It wasn't as much sauce as I anticipated but had a good balance. The toufu was also a good bite, only recommendation is I wish the dish as more flavors. A little more peanut and other flavors and the dish would be absolutely perfect.

Diner Review №30

Food was excellent, only critique is the smell in there was pretty bad, but glad I stayed to try the food!

Diner Review №31

Delicious food. This place is hidden away, but it’s nice, no frills, Thai food. Very casual and relaxed.

Diner Review №32

Amazing food and service!

Diner Review №33

Wife had the red curry. I had the beef stiry fry. Both were extremely fresh and tasty. This was the best stir fry i have had in years

Diner Review №34

Diner Review №35

Excellent! Thank you 😀

Diner Review №36

This place food poisoned me two days ago while the server was pointing out that theres barely any customers as if hes unsure why. Highly currupt

Diner Review №37

Diner Review №38

The food was great! Had the red curry lunch special... and only $11.99. I'll definately come back and tell friends.

Diner Review №40

Amazing chicken Pad Thai!

Diner Review №41

Good bowl of hot pho is the best in. Old winter.

Diner Review №42

Diner Review №43

Been here twice now, I dined in once and did takeaway the other. Both times the food and service have been excellent. I got the massaman curry with chicken as I'm a creature of habit.
Also both times I've been here it hasn't been busy. Show this place some love, it's worth the trip.

Diner Review №44

Delicious food, good service.

Diner Review №45

When I go watch the Kings at Golden 1 Center. I usually either eat inside Golden 1 Center or at Old Sacramento until I discover Thai Lotus Cuisine.

I had dinner here three times in less than a month. They have a simple menu. But everything I have tried is delicious. I like the curry chicken noodles the best!

The restaurant has one gentleman taking the dining room and one chef taking care of the kitchen. They're not very busy all three times when I'm there. The guy who works in the dining room is fast and polite.

The dining room is comfortable and well lit. It is very clean. I enjoyed my meals there. It is much better than eating my dinner inside the arena.

Street parking is available in the area. The parking garage is nearby. But please pay attention the restaurant is behind the building on J Street. You have to walk down a few stairs to find their front door.

Diner Review №46

This place is so delicious! It’s tricky to find it but worth the effort!. The waiter was helpful and friendly. There is ample room but we were there at a quiet time. I will definitely go back again soon

Diner Review №47

I really enjoy their food! We had pineapple fried rice and tom yum noodle soup. Both are very authentic and tasty. It’s a hidden gem of Sacramento (hidden because it is not easy to find the place… it’s not located on the main street)

Diner Review №48

Hidden little Thai food restaurant that is SO good. Make the effort to find it and you won't be disappointed.

Diner Review №49

Food was great and service was better! Great spot! Had the red curry.

Diner Review №50

Diner Review №51

Good place to eat Thai cousins

Diner Review №52

餐馆不临街,位置不太好找,但是做的菜味道不错。

Diner Review №53

I don’t know why anyone would rate this under 5 stars. I’m a flight attendant & specifically overnight here just to eat at Lotus. Lol! I love their chicken ginger stir-fry here as pictured with strips of ginger in it. So good. Everything is so delicious and the staff is so great. Such a hidden gem in the USA. I won’t lie, almost worth moving here for this place. Lol.

Diner Review №54

Perfectly cooked fried rice wow

Diner Review №55

Diner Review №56

Great food at reasonable prices. Fast, pleasant service.

Diner Review №57

So fresh and delicious 🤤

Diner Review №58

Mediocre Thai restaurant, meh

Diner Review №59

Salad offered for lunch was absolutely inedible. Basil Stir Fry was above average.

Diner Review №60

Tastes so good!

Diner Review №61

Clean restaurant, quick food prep, friendly service, reasonable prices and decent portion sizes. The drunken noodles were yummy. Will return next time I’m in Sacramento.

Diner Review №62

The location is almost like a secret;it's below street level tucked away within the square. The price was very reasonable and food was good, but a little too basic on how it was seasoned.

Diner Review №63

This is a great place. The spring rolls are fantastic. Very fresh and the peanut sauce is extra flavorful. The teriyaki chicken is tasty as well as the eggplant with chicken. Service was excellent as well. It’s a little hidden down below and behind a building on j street. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Diner Review №64

Seated quickly, great pad Thai, warm atmosphere.

Diner Review №65

I order spicy thai fried rice with this milk tea! For take away
The food is delicious, large portion! They even provide me few others spice & chilli oil to spice it up a bit! Out of my expectations, no wonder why my coworker told me they are good! Highly recommend, wish I could find this out earlier!

Diner Review №66

Diner Review №68

Diner Review №69

Diner Review №70

The decor was nice, and the waitor was nice too. I got the pad-see-ew and it was ok. Unfortunately I was left with a bad taste in my mouth afterwards. For the $14 dish, I tipped $2.80 and the bill came out to $18.64 including tax, but when I looked at my credit card statement I found out that I had been charged $43.84. I called them to give them a chance to rectify it. I was told that it would be taken care of within a couple days but it's been almost two weeks, and I have not heard back from them.

Diner Review №71

Diner Review №72

Hidden Gem off the beat path. Authentic Thai cuisine, fresh and flavorful. Try the steam potstickers, they hit. The Pad Thai was delicious, with just the right amount of spices.

Diner Review №73

Excellent!

Diner Review №75

Right after my daughter's graduation, we were quite hungry. My daughter had originally proposed a restaurant close to Golden 1 before we opted on Thai food, but then noticed Lotus Thai, which is located directly across from the theater. We ordered a few appetizers, including fresh and fried spring rolls, calamari, papaya salad, and wonton soup. Judging from the pictures we ordered quite a few fried rice items, however several of us had dietary restrictions or allergies. Everything we ordered was delivered quickly, fresh, and delectably. Our server was excellent and very kind. Without a doubt, we'll return and sample more of the menu. We discovered a gem! The overall experience was excellent!

Diner Review №76

The best place to go to get a good meal!!

Diner Review №77

Diner Review №78

We went there because the map said it was open. However, we got there and it was closed.

Diner Review №79

Green curry was the best I've ever had in a Thai restaurant. Great service and fun trip talk to. Definitely will go back when in the area.

Diner Review №80

The food is SOOOO GOOD! We’ve been impressed!

Diner Review №81

Diner Review №82

Diner Review №83

Thai basil fried rice and egg rolls are the BOMB! The staff are really friendly as well! They make it a very welcoming environment.

Diner Review №84

Diner Review №85

This is a hidden gem!! The owners Panh and Tina are so friendly and the service is super efficient! Nothing but smiles, joy and amazing food fill this place.

Having lived in Thailand for several years, I am.always on the lookout for amazing Thai restaurants. The food was amazingly fresh, had great flavors and they kept true to the traditional dishes which is much appreciated. Don't forget to try the papaya salad 😋 it is a must have!!

Diner Review №86

Must be new owner with new chef who doesn’t know how to prepare dishes offered on the menu. Instructions are never followed. I’ve asked for no red onions or bell peppers several times and they just don’t seem to care if a customer has allergies. I ordered a Thai salad, which should’ve came with tofu and peanut dressing. Instead, I received a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, couple slices of cucumbers and RANCH dressing for $12! The chicken noodle soup is deceiving as it did not state that it’s udon type noodles. The spicy bamboo stir fry dish came with mushrooms, green beans among other vegetables that was not described in the menu, hardly any bamboos, and was not even spicy! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE.

Diner Review №87

Excellent service and even better food! The best fried rice i’ve ever had!

Diner Review №88

We ordered the shrimp appetizer, sweet and sour pork and chicken chow mein. We were not disappointed! Great service, amazing appetizers and main courses. Little hard to find, it's in the courtyard, behind the big buildings, but really worth your time to look. Truly a diamond in the rough.

Diner Review №89

The customer service was pretty good. Nice staff. The food and drinks on the other hand were pretty bad. Edible but bad. I got the Pad Thai and the tofu was cold and un cooked. The noodles were rubbery. My friend got the Thai Iced Coffee and it was accurately described as tasting like 4 day old coffe grounds with sugar dumped on top. I feel bad but wasn't a great experience.

Diner Review №90

Order multiple items in a group. Everything tasted the same. I guess it's under new management but they didn't update the menus? Would be better if they had more Isan food

Diner Review №91

The best Thai food I've had in midtown Sacramento. They make really good curry if you are a fan of thick versus thin. The drunken noodles were definitely something worth trying if you like to make things up from the normal Thai restaurant you might get food from. The pad see ew was cooked great as well.

Diner Review №92

With the new owners in place this Thai Lotus has improved tremendously. Please come here with the mindset of slowing down from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Take in the ambiance of the environment and be swept away by the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen.
Service here is Top Notch which is rare in this area, you are not just another lunch or dinner patron, you are a guest/family.
Each dish is hand crafted with authentic Thai ingredients. I enjoyed the drunken noodles with chicken, each bite was better than the next, while my daughter had the Tum Yum soup which taste like medicine in a bowl. Add Thai Lotus to your favorites list today. Thank Me Later.

Diner Review №96

Diner Review №97

I went to taste the food for a decision about catering my father's funeral. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, they brought the food late--during the funeral and the pad Thai was made spaghetti noodles instead of the nice pad Thai noodles I had at the restaurant. It was disappointing and nobody ate it. There were pans and pans leftover. Bait and switch. The egg rolls were nice.

Thai is my absolute favorite food and I have had it all over the world. This place was at best mediocre for what I had. Chicken satay was extremely dry and cut super thin so there was a very small amount of chicken. Panag curry was very watered down. This is a cardinal sin of how to serve a curry. Just way too watery. Maybe 3 ounces of beef in the dish. Small portions over all. Coconut rice was by far the best thing I had and was actually pretty good. Mango wasnt ripe though. Place was not busy at all. Now I know why.

Service was rather slow. I specifically asked for my dish to be extra spicy. I don't think it had a milligram of capsaicin in it.

I was here with my friends, ordered for fried rice and noodles and requested for eggs on the top. We got our order without the eggs in it and when I told the Waiter named Bool that he missed out on eggs he got agitated and told me if I don't like the food I should go somewhere else and not come here. Good Suggestion Bool, you are a Gem waiter in this Restaurant - Suggestion accepted.
