On the bright side, the service was friendly, and the owner went above and beyond, keeping the doors open past closing, which was a nice touch. Sadly, that level of hospitality couldn’t quite make up for the subpar food. If you’re in the area, it’s okay, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

Even though I ordered take out, when I was eating in the restaurant he offered to fill my water container with ice multiple times. I ordered the pad thai with extra toufu and the portions was massive. You can easily feed 2 adults and a couple of children on the pad thai alone, the taste of the pad thai was really different then most places in a unique way. It wasn't as much sauce as I anticipated but had a good balance. The toufu was also a good bite, only recommendation is I wish the dish as more flavors. A little more peanut and other flavors and the dish would be absolutely perfect.

I don't review often but when I do. Great portions and price. The lady at the counter was super sweet and just told me to please take a seat while I waited for takeout. The ginger in the rice was awesome with well cooked proteins. Little bit of work hei as well for those who know. I really would recommend it.

Came here a couple of times for lunch. The complexity of the flavors and noodle dishes definitely fills a niche in the immediate area. Portions are filling, but the wait time for orders can take a while.

My gripe with the pad see ew is the same gripe I have with all the Asian fried noodle dishes today in the broader area: it needs a harder fry that puts some color on the noodles. Otherwise the dish comes off as somewhat one-dimensional.

I had a wonderful dinner here last night. I started with a complementary soup that was this delicious potato-lemongrass soup; very tasty. The chicken pad see ew was amazing; probably some of the best Thai food I’ve tasted since visiting Thailand. The server was so nice too, we had a nice chat about Thailand and she was nice enough to endure my attempt at speaking some Thai. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Wonderful little place with fantastic thai food at reasonable prices! Went here on Sat evening and were greeted warmly by a kind couple. Massaman curry and tom yum noodle soup were excellent along with smoked salmon fresh spring rolls.

I was craving Asian food and found this authentic thai restaurant across the road from our hotel. It was very quiet for a Saturday night - only 3 tables. The service was friendly, food was delicious - we had potstickers, eggplant stir-fry with tofu, bbq chicken, thai ice tea and thai ice coffee. Large, generous portions for affordable price. Would highly recommend coming here if you are in the area!

I don’t know why anyone would rate this under 5 stars. I’m a flight attendant & specifically overnight here just to eat at Lotus. Lol! I love their chicken ginger stir-fry here as pictured with strips of ginger in it. So good. Everything is so delicious and the staff is so great. Such a hidden gem in the USA. I won’t lie, almost worth moving here for this place. Lol.

The location is almost like a secret;it's below street level tucked away within the square. The price was very reasonable and food was good, but a little too basic on how it was seasoned.

This is a great place. The spring rolls are fantastic. Very fresh and the peanut sauce is extra flavorful. The teriyaki chicken is tasty as well as the eggplant with chicken. Service was excellent as well. It’s a little hidden down below and behind a building on j street. I highly recommend giving it a try.

The decor was nice, and the waitor was nice too. I got the pad-see-ew and it was ok. Unfortunately I was left with a bad taste in my mouth afterwards. For the $14 dish, I tipped $2.80 and the bill came out to $18.64 including tax, but when I looked at my credit card statement I found out that I had been charged $43.84. I called them to give them a chance to rectify it. I was told that it would be taken care of within a couple days but it's been almost two weeks, and I have not heard back from them.

Hidden Gem off the beat path. Authentic Thai cuisine, fresh and flavorful. Try the steam potstickers, they hit. The Pad Thai was delicious, with just the right amount of spices.

Right after my daughter's graduation, we were quite hungry. My daughter had originally proposed a restaurant close to Golden 1 before we opted on Thai food, but then noticed Lotus Thai, which is located directly across from the theater. We ordered a few appetizers, including fresh and fried spring rolls, calamari, papaya salad, and wonton soup. Judging from the pictures we ordered quite a few fried rice items, however several of us had dietary restrictions or allergies. Everything we ordered was delivered quickly, fresh, and delectably. Our server was excellent and very kind. Without a doubt, we'll return and sample more of the menu. We discovered a gem! The overall experience was excellent!

Must be new owner with new chef who doesn’t know how to prepare dishes offered on the menu. Instructions are never followed. I’ve asked for no red onions or bell peppers several times and they just don’t seem to care if a customer has allergies. I ordered a Thai salad, which should’ve came with tofu and peanut dressing. Instead, I received a salad with lettuce, tomatoes, couple slices of cucumbers and RANCH dressing for $12! The chicken noodle soup is deceiving as it did not state that it’s udon type noodles. The spicy bamboo stir fry dish came with mushrooms, green beans among other vegetables that was not described in the menu, hardly any bamboos, and was not even spicy! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE.

We ordered the shrimp appetizer, sweet and sour pork and chicken chow mein. We were not disappointed! Great service, amazing appetizers and main courses. Little hard to find, it's in the courtyard, behind the big buildings, but really worth your time to look. Truly a diamond in the rough.

The customer service was pretty good. Nice staff. The food and drinks on the other hand were pretty bad. Edible but bad. I got the Pad Thai and the tofu was cold and un cooked. The noodles were rubbery. My friend got the Thai Iced Coffee and it was accurately described as tasting like 4 day old coffe grounds with sugar dumped on top. I feel bad but wasn't a great experience.

The best Thai food I've had in midtown Sacramento. They make really good curry if you are a fan of thick versus thin. The drunken noodles were definitely something worth trying if you like to make things up from the normal Thai restaurant you might get food from. The pad see ew was cooked great as well.

I went to taste the food for a decision about catering my father's funeral. The food was delicious. Unfortunately, they brought the food late--during the funeral and the pad Thai was made spaghetti noodles instead of the nice pad Thai noodles I had at the restaurant. It was disappointing and nobody ate it. There were pans and pans leftover. Bait and switch. The egg rolls were nice.

Thai is my absolute favorite food and I have had it all over the world. This place was at best mediocre for what I had. Chicken satay was extremely dry and cut super thin so there was a very small amount of chicken. Panag curry was very watered down. This is a cardinal sin of how to serve a curry. Just way too watery. Maybe 3 ounces of beef in the dish. Small portions over all. Coconut rice was by far the best thing I had and was actually pretty good. Mango wasnt ripe though. Place was not busy at all. Now I know why.

While wandering downtown, we happened upon Thai Lotus. Nestled in a beautiful courtyard, the charm of this little restaurant has earned our respect. Great Thai food! Definitely a hidden gem worth seeking out. I tried the pumpkin curry with chicken from the specials menu not knowing what to expect and was impressed with how it tasted. Boon provided great service and friendly conversation during the meal.
