The gold pouches were the best thing we had. The food just lacked flavor. I had to even ask everyone how the food was. The 2 stars if for the gold pouches.

Food is great and delicious, we got there around 5:40pm, and tables where empty and it was only 3 occupied but in just a few minutes room was crowded with people and no more tables where empty. We just got there on time to not to wait to be seated. We just ordered 3 things and it was great to share in with us, delicious food and service was okay. Sea food Soup was just amazingly yummy

Was there last night, sorry for the restaurant, business was slow but they close early around 8pm anyways. The upside is that, it is quiet and you can chat with friends and family.

Comfy, industrial decor with delicious food and excellent service! I went with my Grandma and we both have issues with appetite, but not here! We both ate more in one sitting than we have in years. We got the Chicken, peanut, and garlic dumpling appetizer, sizzling beef and eggplant main dishes. Amazing food!

Here to have lunch with friends. First time eating here. First impression was that restaurant is the fresh modern decor of the restaurant. Nice with a Thai culture touch.

Then the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. Got us seated right away upon our arrival even though we had a large group.

The menu is very typical Thai food items. My wife and I got a Pad Thai and a satay skewer. The flavors were very authentic but the chicken was bit dry and over cooked. But the pad Thai noodle was very chewy and the taste was delicious.

Prices are reasonable but not cheapest among Thai food. They are similar to President Thai.

Since we were with friends, no pictures of the food were taken. Only got some signs and decor photos.

Parking is plenty next to the restaurant. Street parking is also ample.

I'm going to echo the other reviews here: I've come here several times in the past and the food has gone downhill. It's just middling now, the beef was super overcooked. The waitress was pretty uninterested in being a waitress. Bad service. I used to rave about the spicy yellow curry chicken. Too bad about all that! Perhaps it’s a change in ownership.

There's a million other places in Pasadena for the same price--go to one of those instead! You will enjoy your meal much much more.

I was disappointed in the food. The pad Thai
Dish was very different than any other pad Thai dishI have had before. Wet and brownish noodles. Slight different flavor.. Just disappointing. The yellow curry was not yellow. It was brownish-orange and very thinned out. I’d asked for mild but it tasted pretty spicy.
The chicken satey appetizer was chewy. The shrimp and crab pot was not easy to eat as the crab meat was difficult to get out from shell.
I had been to this restaurant about 15 years ago with a Thai friend and we both were satisfied with the meal and the atmosphere felt classy. Perhaps it is under new ownership, either way take a pass on this Thai Restaurant.

Absolutely loved the food. The crew at the restaurant are lovely people wait to go back again very soon. You must have is the coconut ice cream.

This has been a favorite of mine for many years. Amazingly, it never disappoints. Saladang food is bold and intensely flavored, with heat moderated to order. Always the best!

I love Thai food and Saladang was one of the best places ive been. From the moment you walk in you're greeted by a nice open space and very friendly staff. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. I cant wait to go back again!

Came to dinner with family that was leaving on a trip out of the country. Sat down at roughly 7:10 At 7:20 server came by and said kitchen closing at 7:30. We put in a dessert. While we were in the middle of 4 entrees and appetizer server placed dessert and check on table and said they were closing at 7:30. Service was incredibly rude. Food was less than average. Zero customer satisfaction. Don't recommend

This used to be one of the best Thai restaurants in Los Angeles. Unfortunately it was sold to new owners and they came and and they aggressively cut the quality. Now it is a shadow of its former self.

We order here Padthai and cashew chicken. It was not as good as it used to be. The pad Thai served was a bit burned and lack of flavor. The cashew chicken is too sweet. We are not convinced that we will come back again here.

Service was so bad. Most of the dishes were good. We had a variety the curries were subpar. The exception was the kombucha pumpkin curry. The green beans with shitake mushrooms was delicious but needed a few more mushrooms. Pineapple fried was exceptional. I got a tofu lab which totally missed the mark. I can't believe they dont have a basic spicy fried rice.

Ordered takeout for myself and some coworkers. Food left little to be desired. The Pad Thai was dry and lacking flavor. For $16, I'd expect more than 3 shrimp in my dish. The iced Thai tea tasted like it was water and cheap powder mix. I had to go back to pick up the teas since they forgot to put it in the bag anyway. Honestly, there are a lot better options in the area and in that price range.

Beautiful architecture with a Thai vacation vibe interior design. Used to visit frequently over 20 years ago for family and friends gatherings. Loved the ambiance, Thai cuisine especially the vegetarian options, and friendly service. A little disappointed with the food during the recent visit after the pandemic. One of our all-time favorite green- curry somewhat has a burnt taste and was not as flavorful as expected.

Truly one of the top Thai restaurants in Los Angeles. We had their Tom Kha soup, Orange Chicken, and Eggplant and chili stir fry with tofu (vegetarian). Everything was delicious. My wife said it was the best Tom Kha soup she's ever had, of probably over a dozen restaurants. We also had a cucumber salad on the side and it was sweet and tasty. Overall a great experience with very good service and fair prices.

Excellent food but didn't get the order right the first time however they gladly corrected the order.

I have not been here in a couple of years and it is nothing like it used to be! Don’t waste your time or money. Thinking the food was worth looking beyond the heavy chemical smell from whatever cleaner they used on the floor. So, we sat outside in the patio. It looks like it the gardening hasn’t really been kept up.

I do not usually leave a review ever but this place deserved one. I came to Saladang based on recommendation and by golly it is one of the worst Thai food restaurants in Pasadena. When I got there it was quiet and not much was going on. I was seated but one could tell the service definitely did not want anyone there. I ordered fried calamari, yellow curry crab fried rice, and chicken pad see ew. The fried calamari was decent so I have no complaints about it however, the problems started with the fried rice. When I bit into the crab, it was still frozen with chunks of ice in it. I then told them that it was frozen and they took it back and reheated it. Once they brought it back, it tasted like it has then been burnt and was basically inedible. The next thing was the pad see ew. It was decent when it was first served as it was actually hot and cooked. The issues arose as it started to cool down, the chicken tasted almost like it had been cooked straight on a gas burner and rubber. The noodles also started tasting like rubber after a while. We complained about the fried rice, but as we ate about 1/3 of the pad see ew I did not really complain about it. The chef came out wearing airpods and seemed like he did not care at all. I do not know if when these positive reviews were written at a different time than when I went, like later in the evening, with a different chef or something but this food was terrible. There are other Thai food places that I can actually encourage in Pasadena like 9&9 or Chim, but this place has disappointed me, especially with the recommendation and the positive reviews it has. This was one of the best restaurants in the United States but I'm pretty sure it was sold! Now is not better than panda express. What a crime.

Well I don't have a good review for this place. Did not eat a lot of the beef in my pad thai as the meat was rubbery. Green curry is tiny I feel a bit cheated. The person at the front treated me like trash from the beginning not sure why I just ordered and stood quietly in the corner. Will not come back and really puzzled at the reviews as LA has so many options.

Called the day before to reserve a table towards the back of the restaurant. We were told no problem, just come in and we'll seat you there, no need for the reservation. There were 5 in our group.
Upon arrival, we were asked to sit at the first table nearest the front door. I told them we wanted the back tables and we had to insist, there were only two tables with people seated in the entire restaurant.
After placing our order, everything from our appetizers , salads , side dishes and entres' we're rudely all brought out at the same time. They couldn't even find the room to put them down.
It was if they were rushing us out. When we finished, only one other person came in to eat.
So it wasn't as if they were pushing us out for lack of room.

Service absolutely sucks. The server was super rude and took like 10 mins to take our order. The lunch special doesn’t have the same dishes that the Saladang Garden (the Garden is better). Their veggie spring rolls are pretty bad, bad presentation, dry veggies and not very tasty. Mushroom sour soup and pad Thai are alright. I would not come back to this restaurant. I would rather go to the Garden.

I hadn't been there in at least three years, and the passage of time seems to have affected the quality of the food. The yellow curry was good but the chicken added to it was not. It was all-purpose chicken that would be added to any of the dishes, and it was not good. Rubbery and with pieces of fat. The restaurant used to be so good. I hear Saladang Garden, on the other side of the parking lot (?), is good. Maybe focus on one restaurant???

I've dined at Saladang a couple of times and really enjoyed it both times. Once for lunch and once for dinner. The salad rolls are amazing (the dipping sauce is tasty) and the spicy green beans with tofu is good, too. They will accommodate vegans and leave out the meat/fish sauce on many dishes. Brown rice, too! Look for the green leaf on the menu.) I highly recommend the food, service was friendly and efficient. I look forward to returning in the future.

Bad service, servers who served us in the beginning seem like they dont want to work there. A server who got our order seems does not know what goes in the food. Before we ordered our food, we asked if there are any sirrantro adds in the food since one of our friends can’t eat sirrantro. She said that none of the sirrantro adds in the food. However, we saw sirrantro in our food. We tried to complain about it. None of the servers were trying to make an eye contact with me. Also, they ignored me even though they saw my hand raising up. They never came to our table for water or anything. I needed hot sauce and pepper, what to expect… keep ignoring our table.. servers seem who joined later were very pleasant. Although they did not make any mistake, i had to complain to them.
I go there often with a large group of people. It was my first time getting this horrible service. Very unpleasant
If they want to continue the business, they should do something with the servers who caused this bad service.

Excellent flat rice noodles, smoky pad thai. Delicious steam rice dumplings called Pun Klip! Very good sticky rice dessert. Warmly recommend, don’t get fooled by the dull outside appearance of the building ;-)

This is a nostalgic place for us. Once very fancy, still not bad, but not much better than those cheap fastfood Thai restaurants. Good atmosphere, large portions and convenient parking are what makes me to still give a good rating.

I returned after being a regular, 10 years ago, and the service was still remarkable and the food was excellent. The Chicken Sate was generously portioned and the peanut sauce was delicious. You must try the Pad Thai and/or the Sizzling Beef as we tried and shared both.

I have eaten at Saladang 1 and 2 for over 20 years and it has never failed in service and amazing Thai food...Love this place...

Easy parking and quiet ambiance. Friendly service every time I’ve dined here, I enjoy each visit. The food is full of flavor and there’s something to please everyone. I find myself ordering takeout after I’ve already dined in. My opinion, definitely beats the overcrowded and sometimes overrated places in old town.

First time and I can say I was not disappointed, i had the yellow curry and the chicken stat with a ginger beer , very flavorful and delicious, I would recommend this place if you want to experience delicious thai cuisine...

Went for the first time today! Was a little enticed by the ambiance and look of the restaurant but was surprised at how mediocre the food was. The Penang curry we had was pretty bad, I would give it a 1/10. The drunken noodle was a lot better, maybe like a 7 or 8. Overall would go anywhere else for some better Thai food! They also messed up my receipt...

Actually they don't have enough sizes to choose from..and one off the ladies that was working in the men's department was very rude When I asked her if she can tell me were was the swim trucks for men..She rely in a very rude mood and she walked to another sales representative and told him very fast to help me because she couldn't understand what I was asking for and beside she said that was not her department..I was looking for a manager.but unfortunately there's no one around..

Worst meal I've had in years and I was so happy to go try it I had Pad See Ew we were the only two people in the whole place when the meal came out it was lukewarm they used just a tiny bit of sauce the chicken was rock hard like it just came out of the refrigerator from yesterday and was not freshly cooked and was not even completely covered with sauce because they use such a small amount the only thing fresh in the meal was the broccoli and it was American broccoli not what they were supposed to use

We had a very average experience here.Nothing special , nothing too bad also to write about.
Half the experience was tainted due to their AC being broken on one of the hotter days of the season. We felt the poor staff was harried too due to this.
Food wise, we had a party of 10 and we ordered a multitude of dishes appetizers,(corn fritter..two out of three were over fried and oil soaked, papaya salad..too much dressing in a poorly selected bowl design that spilt it all over)main course( pad ki mau and pad thai had no flavor ;the panang curry was decent; catfish..overfried, no flavor, insufficient sauce; fried rice no flavor again; the garlic blk pepper chicken and the basil vegetables were the only flavorful dishes)dessert( sticky rice mango, custard and coconut sticky rice...again very disappointing). Nothing stood out at all.
The staff was accommodating and nice but distracted ..maybe due to heat...don't know .
Unfortunately not a very memorable first visit at all.

Overall we love this place. Saladang Song, next door (sister restaurant) has outdoor seating and similar food.

First time trying it and I was not disappointed. I ordered the beef drunken noodles. Good size portion, lots of beef and it was tender and juicy. The egg rolls are good and so was the chicken sate. Definitely will return.

This restaurant was great but since Covid 19 their portions are horrible. I bought stir fry cabbage with shrimp. I got a spoon full of cabbage and 6 shrimp for $16.00. When I got home and saw what I had I was furious and called them . All I got was “you got 6 shrimp “
. I was unable to bring it back but will no longer support their business.

I went there with a friend. Liked it very much. Planning to go again when things reopen properly. They have quite a lot of vegetarian options.
