The coconut milk is overpowering and artificial tasting. It tastes so strong for how thin the texture is. We sent it back and got the regular spicy seafood and realized it’s the broth that’s the problem. It has no flavor except for the kaffir lime leaves. The fish in the soup does not taste good either. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a spicy seafood soup. We didn’t order any other plates except for steam rice so can’t comment on those. Our first and last time here.

Always feels like eating home-cooked food! There's ala carte, and there's ready to eat food on display.My fave is their fried rice with shrimp paste and stir-fried pork and Chinese broccoli. And, don't miss to try their sweetened cassava. Reasonably priced meal. Very clean, enough parking spaces. Accept cash only.

Cashew Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, and Pork Ribs are all straight fire. Thursday for a limited time they have Spicy Chicken that is well worth it. Bring cash and you're golden. The hole in the wall might not have the best service but the cheap price and great price has had me coming back over and over again. They are legitimately the best Thai I've had and I drive a hour just to have it.

I used to come here for about 20 years with my family. But throughout the years so much has changed. The food portions got very smaller as well as the Thai iced teas! They used to use longer cups now it’s small cups. The decline in taste and quality has also dropped. My family and I try to give this restaurant more chances but this will be the last time we go. The soups taste like water before it would have that coconut thick milk. The meat also tastes very old/expired. No more. I would recommend Rincome. They have good Thai food there:)

I came here in 2002 for the first time, my children were 2/3 years old,, and still we always eat here at least twice a month, and tried other Thai restaurants but,, always. Come back here,, even my children now on their 20s still come here,

This was the worst Thai food I have ever bought. They gave me what seemed to be boiled chicken. I didn't know they only accept cash so I went all the way to my bank to come back and be served garbage.

I love Thai food and usually am not able to find amazing Pad Thai like I was able to find here. Eating Thai food at different places in the valley has made my taste very picky, and this is one of the spots that I really like.

My family has brought us here since I can remember we absolutely love khun kao, my children love it now to, our favorite is always and will always be #77 mint garlic chicken it's absolutely delicious the staff is friendly and familiar and it's a great place

I went there tonight for take-out. A bit of a wait as they were extremely busy. I enjoyed their chicken satay with the peanut sauce and am hooked on Thai tea. Very friendly staff.

Update: they have not been open for months and I would not be surprised if they decided to once again postpone when they will open back up again from being on vacation.

Have called multiple times during the past few days during their open business hours and not one time have they answered. How am I supposed to be able to place an order ahead of time if they never seem to answer the phone, they just let it continue to ring.

Horrible costumer service! I called and placed my order for pick up they said would be about 30 min so i got there 30 min later and my food wasn't ready they still had me wait for an additional 20 min before I walked out without any food! Never going back if i order for pick up is should be ready by the time they tell you not have you keep waiting around

I have been going to this restaurant on and off for over 25 years. It's my favorite Thai restaurant. The soup with chicken and coconut milk is the bomb. I believe it's called Tom Kha Gai, though I have to get it mild. I usually order rice on the side and mix it in. The owner told me the restaurant has been there 37 years, which would be 1984.

Great Thai food and wonderful customer service. Need to go and try their food. Good servings as well.

Loved the service, food (beef panang) was amazing, tea was on point. Thank you for a great Thai dining experience during this Covid pandemic. Face masks required.

They told me it would take 25 mins to make my food. I coordinated with someone so that they would get there and simply pay, pick up the food, and carry on with our day. 50 mins later the food is still not ready. When I called to see it would be long they responded with “do you want it or not?” I would not recommend ordering over the phone with them. I’m glad others had a good experience but I’m disappointed in the customer service. Next time say something like, “it’ll take anywhere from 40-60 mins” instead of lying to the customer.

Excellent taste. Suggest, American fried rice, fresh or deep fried catfish, Tom yum, pork leg stew, fried pork ribs, krapow talay etc... The price is still below $10 per dish, while others jump to $13. Went there on Saturday lunch, so busy. Take some dessert home. You will enjoy it.

Hmmm I guess I haven't posted a review here for Khun Khao, so I'll have to remedy that. I've been a customer for more than 30 years. I don't live in LA anymore, but when we find ourselves in LA we always stop by there. The owner still remembers us and treats us like friends. But the food. Best Thai I have had anywhere. OK so I haven't been to Thailand but I've been all over US and Europe, and Khun Khao is #1 in my book. There are two dishes in particular that I get every time. One is Cashew Nut Chicken. I guess plenty of places make this dish good- but still Khun Khao stand out. The other dish is Kua Gai, also known as Guay Tiew Kua Gai. It's a noodle dish that is similar to pad see ew. This stuff is AMAZING. I am told it is a common Thai street food dish that you can find everywhere. But not many Thai restaurants in the US make it. I've found 2 in the Bay Area that make it- but neither of them are very good. The Kua Gai at Khun Khao is PHENOMENAL. Trust me- go try it. Everything else we've had is good (my wife likes their deserts) but I never get anything else there. On top of this, their prices are very reasonable, portions good, and the staff friendly. It's a small restaurant on Roscoe Blvd in Panorama City. Not the best neighborhood and it's just a small spot in a nondescript strip mall. So don't go for the ambience. But do go for the food. You will thank me.

Great authentic Thai restaurant. Kenny, the owner, is a great guy. Many items here on the menu you can't find at your normal local Thai restaurant unless you're in North Hollywood which has a plethora of authentic Thai restaurants. At most Thai restaurants everything is made to order. There are some dishes at Khun Kao that they prepare ahead of time and give the food more time for the flavors to mix. For that reason I love the yellow curry chicken here better than any place else. They also have these incredibly good spicy chicken wings called prik king pi gai that will knock your socks off if you try them. Unfortunately they're only available one day a week (Wednesday) and tend to sell out fast. Get them if you can!

My family has been dining here ever since I could remember so ~20 years. The food is some of the best Thai food in the LA area. The staff is very friendly and some have also been with the restaurant since I was a kid. The only downsides I can think of are the shrinking Thai tea portions and sometimes slow service.

My favorite dish is the #67- the spicy seafood combination ( stir fry) I suggest order it mild if its your first time trying. I order mine medium. (Spicy is way too hot! Hotter than habanero pepper!) They also make a soup version of this. I haven't tried it though.
I've been here at least 25 times and I get the
#67 every time. Why do i get this every time some might wonder. Its because Ive been to at least 5 other thai restaurants for this dish,(Santa monica ,Pico-Robertson area, El segundo, West Hollywood, also a thai place directly across the street from here, and that was only because I came here on a Monday. They are closed on Mondays!
They all pale in comparison to this place ! The only other item I've ever tried was the beef broccoli.

This is my local family owned Thai food restaurant and food feels home made type of deal and service is just as good especially cuz owner is at the front and center , watching, directing and guiding his crew or maybe they all family but he makes sure you get what you came for .
