Easygoing eatery with a patio serving traditional Thai fare with happy hour food & drink deals.
While the food was tasty, hot. The atmosphere there is good and the service was good. It was overpriced. We had the Yellow Curry with Tofu and we split a spring roll appetizer. The bill with tips was $75 bucks for 2 persons. I won't be back to this location. It's on El Paseo, and I figure that's why it is overpriced. I like the Palm Springs location, probably just as high.
We absolutely 💯 loved our entire experience at Thai Smile! The food was the Very BEST we had in Palm Desert! Our server Pablo was excellent too! We absolutely loved their papaya salad, the Phad Thai and fresh vegetables in a most delicious brown sauce and their coconut ice cream was simply heavenly! We will be back every time we are in Palm Desert❣️
Amazing experience!!! We had the spring rolls, dumplings, Tom kha Kai, Kung pao chicken and pad Thai and every single dish was 5 stars! Everything was so fresh and flavored to perfection. Delicious Thai Tea!!! The service was impeccable, all of the staff anticipated all of our needs and were so kind and efficient. Can’t wait to come back!
Go “Thai Spicy” it so gooooood! And very spicy. Thai Smile has been around for a long time (like decades) in the desert. More recently it came to El Paseo, and they continue the great taste/flavor tradition that started decades ago.
Highly recommend the Kung Pow Shrimp. You can get any protein you like for this traditional Szechuan dish. Also love the eggplant, the cashew chicken, and spicy shrimp fried rice. Their lemon grass traditional Thai soups are awesome too!
Off season, call in early for take out. Sometimes it is dead, and the close the kitchen early. The have a great indoor and outdoor seating. Some parking curb side out front, and a large lot in the rear. Also very cool, they have reserved a pick up/short term parking right out front. It makes take out pick ups very easy.
If you view their menu on their website via your phone, the text is blurry. It works on a laptop/computer. But I have screenshot it here for you in high/readable resolution!
Generous with the sauces. And portions. It’s about $23-30 per dinner entree portion. We got kung pow shrimp Thai spicy (included plain white rice), spicy shrimp eggplant, and spicy shrimp fried rice. It was about $94 bucks. And two people could barely finish after an active day hiking, swimming, and tennis.
Highly recommend! Dining in is great too. The staff is warm, and on top of it. Take out is great. The food was ready EXACTLY when they said it would be. Well packaged for the trip home, and perfectly hot and tasty at home.
We arrived at this restaurant later in the day, but the overall experience was extremely disappointing. All of our main dishes took over 30 minutes to arrive, and most frustratingly, we waited an hour for a shrimp chow mein that never came. Throughout the wait, we repeatedly checked with the server, who simply told us, “The kitchen is working on it, please be patient.” Eventually, the waiter admitted the order hadn’t even been recorded. This was incredibly frustrating and upsetting, especially since we had clearly stated multiple times that the dish was for a 3 year old child who had already been waiting for over an hour. Despite this, the restaurant offered no proactive response. When we tried to speak with the manager, she mostly deflected responsibility, saying it’s the holiday season made the kitchen very busy and asking for our understanding. What made matters worse was seeing customers who arrived after us receive their food while we continued waiting. The most disappointing aspect was the manager’s lack of genuine apology. Instead, she remarked, “You’ve taught me a lesson: not to accept large parties during busy seasons.” This left us feeling disrespected and deeply dissatisfied. We traveled from San Francisco to Palm Springs to celebrate the New Year, but this experience ruined our evening both emotionally and gastronomically. We sincerely hope the manager reflects on this incident, acknowledges her shortcomings, and strives to provide future guests with a better dining experience.
We were drawn to this restaurant based on its glowing reviews, and we were not disappointed.
The location was incredibly convenient, with ample parking, making it a breeze to get to and from the restaurant. Upon entering, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff's attentiveness and kindness throughout our meal were truly exceptional. Their service exceeded even the standards of a five-star hotel.
The culinary experience was equally impressive. We indulged in a variety of dishes, including the chicken satays, shrimp blankets, pad thai, som tam salad, panang curry, and house fried rice. Each dish was perfectly balanced and flavorful. Our kids enjoyed every bite, and we couldn't have been happier with our dining experience.
We will definitely be returning whenever we're in Palm Springs again.
Order vegetable soup told them I don't eat meat yet still had piece of meat

Thai Smile easily accommodated our party of 9 for dinner on a busy night and did so with great service and delicious Thai food. It was a great evening out with family.
The food is quite delicious. Don’t be deterred by an unusual mall and restaurant setup. Even the unusual aesthetic of the mall offers an eccentric outing. Friendly.
They shouldn't be able to call themselves "Thai Smile".
The Palm Springs one is 1000% better. It actually has flavor. The pad thai was bland and the red curry was watered down yet again. They should have never moved to El Paseo. I thought i would give them another try and I'm just left disappointed. I will not be coming back to the El Paseo one. Palm Springs original you win!
We had a tremendous meal and the value is spectacular. We did not have a reservation and it became very obvious that they needed our table asap. (We were only there for one hour and five mins). Although we were rushed (was not even asked if we wanted dessert), you cannot be too upset as the food was spectacular.

Today we went to the restaurant and we have been waiting for one meal for almost one hour, and the conversation we had with manager and waiter was frustrating, the manager had a bad attitude and keeps making excuses, this ruined our day to be honest, i wish they can have better attitude at least but keep making excuses... also the food is a bit of off putting, its not that good
Very tasty!
Always a favorite of mine! Good Thai food and friendly service. Items on the lunch menu are really a good deal.
We did take out but all the food was amazing! Highly recommend. Big portions too!

I don’t think I’ve ever felt so welcomed by so many wonderful, gracious people! Sitting outside and enjoying this delectable food was a real treat!
Always good!
Tell me here to eat very often and find the food and staff are just great.
Oh My God !
This is the best Thai food in the world . Absolutely SUPERB !!!
I have eaten at both locations, and the one located in Palm Springs is better.
Food was the best, lots of flavor and the special ginger sauce was the best
We absolutely 💯 loved our entire experience at Thai Smile! The food was the Very BEST we had in Palm Desert! Our server Pablo was excellent too! Our rule of thumb is to give a restaurant 3 tries before leaving a review. We haven't been here since they opened because the food never really improved and leaving reviews wasn't a thing back then. Our normal Thai Restaurant is closed because of summer, so we decided to see if Thai Smile had improved. Unfortunately, it has not. First, I want to say that Pablo, our server, was outstanding so this review is not a reflection on him. The review is solely on the food, prices and atmosphere. If you like paying top dollar for subpar food then this is your restaurant. We ordered the Thai Smile Appetizer Combo, the papaya salad and the Kee Mao. The entire appetizer combo was fried and mediocre. It's a shame because they had an opportunity to deliver a sampling of their menu to get you excited about the main courses. Instead of making it mouthwatering, I felt like I nuked some egg rolls in the microwave. Our next course was the papaya salad. This salad's texture reminded me of eating jellyfish at a sushi restaurant. The papaya was tasteless and the sauce was nothing. There was no spices or any kind of seasoned sauce to elevate the salad. It was like eating rubber bands dipped in a bland juice. When the Kee Mao arrived we were hoping for something tasty to recover our mediocre dinner, but it wasn't much better. The Kee Mao had some flavor but the unseasoned, overcooked beef ruined the dish. We paid $94 including tip for this meal. If you're looking for a pretentious, overpriced, subpar dinner then Thai Smile on El Paseo is your place! There are so many better Thai restaurants in the valley. It's a shame the good restaurants close for a month during the summer. If you must try Thai Smile, I recommend the Palm Springs location. It's not as pretentious and the food is better. If it wasn't for Pablo's hospitality, we would have walked out. Unfortunately, the people leaving 5 star reviews clealry have not experienced good Thai food.

Great Thai food in a nice setting
Great food and friendly
Staff. The water actually taste good. That’s important. We will be back.
Thai Smile is one of the most consistent restaurants I have ever eaten at. I am here for lunch quite often, and the food is always prepared exactly the same way. The servers know me and remember my normal choices, which makes the experience quite pleasant overall.
The food isn't entirely authentic, mind you. Their stuff is made a bit more sweet than most other Thai restaurants. That said, it doesn't mean I don't like the food. I am especially a fan of their garlic chicken, and their version of Kung Pao is delicious. Their Tom Yum soup is definitely a little different, too, lacking the usual strong tangy lemongrass flavor usually associated with it. They have changed this classic soup enough that it, while similar to other Tom Yum soups, has its own unique flavor that is really great.
So, if you are looking for a pure Thai experience with 100 percent authentic food, this isn't necessarily the best choice. Nevertheless, the food is delicious if you are willing to give it a chance, and the friendly servers make the dining experience here a true pleasure.
Complete lack of food personality. No spices and cook as if someone was forced to. Tasteless like a hospital meal. Please put some pride behind your food.
Wonderful people and service. Loved it! Very beautiful gesture for my bday.
This place’s prices are all wrong on their website and apparently have been for months (they told me on the phone that they are aware). When I realized after I got back to my hotel that they overcharged me, I tried to call them and wouldn’t answer my cell. However, when I called on my hotel phone, they answered (they said they just have been busy but I called several times). Food is also greasy and not that great. Don’t eat here unless you want to pay 30% more than what their menu states.
The kitchen is excellent but the bar needs to prepare delicious drinks
I eat here every time I visit my mom (probably 5 times per year), and it's wonderful. I've had just about everything on the lunch menu and highly recommend the curries and stir fry. I've visited Thailand and find this food authentic yet great for the American palate.
OK for Americanized Thai food. Tom kai soup was good but pad Thai lacked flavor and texture. Service was excellent
I absolutely love Thai food and this was One of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever eaten eaten at. Delicious
I ordered a yum yai salad and satay chicken to go. Food tasted great, but my one complaint was that I only got 2 pieces of shrimp in my salad that was $20. For only 2 items my order was $40 I think it’s expensive for what you get which was mostly lettuce.
Authentic Tai food
Always a great experience, great food and service.
The meal was very good and the service was generally ok BUT I did not get the rice with my meal. I asked the waiter to please bring it but he did not. I asked 2 other people for it but it still didn’t arrive. No one came to check on how our meal was. I finally got up and chased a waiter down to get my rice. It’s a small thing but it shouldn’t have been that difficult.
Absolutely love Thai Smiles. It is a perfect location to sit by the sidewalk and watch the parade people and cars go down Passeo Drive. The food I was served was outstanding and beautifully presented. The portions were absolutely spot on for a lunch. And I cannot wait to go back to once again and experience Thai Smiles. I highly recommend it.
Been going here for years and years. It's really tasty food. Their tom yum soup is divine.
Great food, friendly service, great location
Really good selection of Thai food. Great flavors. Friendly staff.
Came here for dinner at 8:00 and was told the kitchen is closed yet the restaurant was busy and the stated time of closing was 8:30. So disappointed. Man at front desk was rude.
We have been eating at Thai Smile for over 20 years, starting in Palm Springs. We love the food, the service and the atmosphere. It's always an excellent experience and the staff is warm and friendly. Thank you Thai Smile.
This is a trap! This is not authentic Thai food at all. I will not come back.
Went here at 7.35 and they said they were closed when the time of closure is 8.00pm. They refuse to use side entrance for wheelchair access either in the phone.
In a word, yummy. Very helpful staff. For those with sensitivity to too much spice / heat, order 0 stars with heat on the side. My 1 star pad Thai made me sweat, but I loved it.
Great Thai restaurant with excellent service and amazing authentic Thai food. We came in on a random week night and the restaurant was pretty busy. We did not have to wait for our food, and were always helped by the service. Totally recommended restaurant!
Good stuff
we were seated and the area around us was run down in need of painting and chairs the were all scratched up. We sat at the table for ten minutes----they poured us water, and servers walked past us time and again and no one came to ask if we wanted a drink or to order dinner. We walked out and there was no apology or concern. We would never return again.
It was Christmas Day and obviously everything was closed. My wife and I were touring around Palm Desert and late at night realized we would not be able to find any place that would be open. Luckily we drove by Thai Smile and saw open doors and Open sign! Called in, placed the order and bam! Delicious fried rice with shrimp with great portion! We were really happy to have found this place. Would order from them again whenever in the area!
Outstanding service ! Highly recommended!
The best Thai food.
We were drawn to this restaurant based on its glowing reviews, and we were not disappointed.

We will definitely be returning whenever we're in Palm Springs again.
Oh my gosh, this was an amazing place. As we looked out the window at night raindrops were falling out of the tree. The inside was well done and everything seemed just right.
Really nice atmosphere. Nice staff. I went for lunch. food was pretty good. I’m a bit spoiled after living in Chicago and visiting Thailand. $20 for lunch special doesn’t seem that special. Probably better off just ordering a regular entrée you get more food.
Love the pineapple fried rice and Penang curry! One issue we had was our takeout pineapple fried rice was missing the cashews, the best part. They were apologetic and would make right next time but check your order. Will be back next spring
We had to sit outside area because it was really hot inside the restaurant and it was cooler outside, The what I would call pot stickers were delicious, The cashew chicken dish was kind of flavorless a lot of green peppers but not a lot of flavor My husband had the combo with shrimp and his had a lot more flavor so we kind of split the dishes and the Jasmine tea was delicious too We definitely go back and try something else,
The style inside of Thai smile is so beautiful!!! I was treated as soon as I walked in and right away was brought a cold glass of water. This was a very great experience for my first time at this location. :)
Our favorite Thai restaurant in the desert!
Always delicious and great service!!
They put heaps of cilantro on fried rice dishes which is overpowering. Also they put a whopping 4 pieces of pineapple in the pineapple fried rice. Just terrible.
I don't know what happened here...maybe a new cook or 2?
My mushu was pre made huge burritos that just got sogged in the barely edible mushu.
Who pre makes mushu roles?
It was awful. Tom Kah was just as bad.
Peanut sauce in tom Kah Kai?
This place used to be my go to.
No longer.
Fantastic food and excellent service
Never disappointed...love everything about this Thai restaurant.
Muy buen sabor 👌 la cómoda Tailandesa
Always great food
Wrong thing Again. How can there really be such a disconnect with what had been ordered and what’s placed in a bag???!
*Added bonus this time; plastic in the wrong food.
Deliciously fresh food. The fresh spring rolls were very good, shrimp was perfectly cooked. The red curry with pork was nicely spicy. Will definitely be back.
Mediocre food, slow service
Please include the cold peanut sauce for the bean sprout salad.
Pad Thai is heavenly!
Great lunch specials. Order before 1:45. Served with soup or salad.
MEH…..I had their yellow curry with chicken for $17🍛. It was average and the ice tea didn’t have a very strong flavor. True Thai ice tea has a very strong and bold flavor.
The yellow curry has good flavor but was very watery based compared to most places. Overall I would say it’s not worth the $2.00 up charge of average curry price just for the location.
I will give it one more try and do the Pad Thai next time and see if it’s any better.
Delish authentic Thai cuisine. Spring roll appetizers notable. Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice dishes excellent flavor and prepared perfectly. Mango Bangkok cocktail yummy.
Excellent Thai food while we watched the antique cars on cruise night on El Paseo Drive
I've been to a lot of Thai restaurants, this one's really great!
Mistakenly stopped for dinner without reservations, oh dear!
The "greeter" was appropriately rude, but sat for dinner anyway. Looking back we should have just left.
Ok, small lunch portion. Food was too sweet for my taste. Have had better
Everyone raves about this place, and now.... well, we went at 615 PM on a Tuesday night and got turned away... Full for the night!! Luckily our friends got there early and were already seated inside. Food was great, service wonderful, it's packed so it's loud. Make your reservation right now!!
Awesome food use to go when they were in La Quinta off Hwy 111 years ago!! By far the best Thai food with one other location in Palm Springs!!
Decent Thai food and excellent service. Nice little patio to sit on and enjoy the evening.
Please just font seat at the bar they take forever to make drinks
Great food
Visited Thai Smile 3 times during our stay, service is excellent and the Pad Thai and coconut shrimp were delicious 😋
Best Thai food ever!
Amazingly attentive and helpful staff. Our waiters menu suggestions were all very delicious. Definitely recommend.
Excellent service, decent food, fried rice could be more dry and done better. Fried spring rolls and curry are delicious!
Interesting foods. Was expecting higher quality, though.
Tasty food, good service, fair prices. It was a great lunch.
We very much enjoyed the Panama curry as well as the garlic chicken.
We will be back.
OMG, what a find. Best Thai food in palm desert for sure.
Wished it was more authentic Thai.
We dined here with the four of us. A friendly welcome and promptly seated.
Glasses of fresh chilled water were served.
Menu has a lot of tempting dishes to chose from.
We first had a serving of the springs rolls and a serving of dumplings. The spring rolls didn't do it for us and they were pretty cold inside. However the dumplings turned out to be a great choice.
Our meals were all very pleasant and good sized servings. The ambiance is quite nice.
Service was attentive.
Best food and great outdoor seating. Excellent service and super nice!
I did takeout but the host staff was very social as I waited for my order.
Lot's of restaurants and shopping
We love the Pad Thai! The wait staff are always very friendly and go out of their way to make your experience a good one.
Very good lunch. Open air was very nice.
Good good but nothing super awesome. We ordered vegetarian dumpling and tofu pad Thai. They were good. Staff is super nice.
Nice location and super friendly staff. Unfortunately, the chicken on the pad thai was dry and my friend ordered his with tofu and they gave him chicken instead.
Thai Smile of Rancho Mirage is excellent! Thank you for a delicious meal!
Dined with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Since when does Pad Thai come with cheese? My first time ordering and last. I only ordered because I’m local. The sauce is supposed to be spicy but it’s tart with no spice. Sad Thai food. Chicken was dry and tasted old. Hopefully I won’t get sick.
Excellent food! Great service. Will definitely come back.
Deliciosos platios recomiendo las Angel wings appetizer, la encargada es amiga de mi esposo muy amable pero el personal pecimo.
Amazing Thai food with an abundance of staff to ensure drinks are refilled and all needs are met. You gotta try the Pad Thai (sweet orange noodles with shrimp + your choice of meat), Pad See Ew (thick, wide noodles like Pad Thai), and Yellow Curry (not spicy).
Best red Curry in the Palm Desert area! The waiter Jeff was very professional and helpful. I will be a regular customer.
One star because it keeps happening. Courtney was less than helpful.
There is a Huge difference between Tom Kha Kai like I asked for and Tom Yum Kai that has tomatoes. I spent 60 dollars to watch my family eat without me. Again.
Salty as...
Busy, place convenient location but it is worth the wait. The food is absolutely scrumptious and looks and tastes like thai food not like Chinese take out. Very good menu with a lot to offer and prices are very reasonable.
Great food
Fantastic Staff
We had the coconut shrimp and Mu Shu Pork. Both were outstanding!! Excellent service. Nice environment inside or on the walkway.
Ok Thai, nice location
Easter Sunday thinking we would have a delightful meal and enjoy our day. Instead we listened to screaming children non stop who were not asked to stop by their parents or management. The children were not crying but screaming high pitched at the top of their lungs. Funny? Not! Bad management.
Great food. Wonderful staff and super service.
This place was absolutely amazing. The food was great especially the dumplings and the chicken satay, it was so moist and yummy. My 11yo daughter loved all of it and she is not the type for Thai food. I would 100 percent recommend this place!
We had Thai Smile for dinner tonight and it was delicious! Easy to order for pick up, curbside parking and it was ready when we were told it would be! We had the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Pad Thai 😃
Food and service was EXCELLENT. Food arrived to our table fast and piping hot! Service was extremely friendly and efficient. This was my first visit but won't be my last. I'm very happy this restaurant was recommended to me and encourage you to give it a try...every sauced entree was so tasty and the soup of the day was scrumpdelicious...the spring roll was perfect! Can't wait to go back!
Food is disgusting..seemed old..I don't believe it was freshly cooked...I believe, it was frozen , then they heated it up, and served it..It was mushy...the bell peppers mushy, looked like a frog swamp?, the shrimp were scarce, I ordered the seafood platter..never again..and this is my 2nd time; giving them a try...
I ordered late... just ten minutes b4 closing, (yikes) - well not a problem! The very kind and confident owner graciously took my phone order but not before a quick check with the kitchen to make certain they could accommodate. And they did! The tom kah gai 4 entrees, the chicken, the beef, shrimp & the scallops, the vegetables and the tom kah gai soup were to die for. Every bite was heavenly - The ingredients were of the highest quality, fresh and perfectly balanced. A tiny bit pricey, but so worth it. Easily the best Thai food I've had in over a decade.
One very very small disappointment was in the use of white button mushrooms in the Tom kah gai, I expected, I think, shitake or champagne? Still you guys knocked it out of the park. Cheers!
Great food and food and excellent service
Very good food. Moderately priced. Service was excellent
Had lunch and dinner at Thai Smile Palm Desert. Tom Yum soup is so great. Thai Basil chicken is also very tasty. Service is excellent and very friendly. Love this restaurant!! Recommend it.
damn i haven't been here before but it better be just as good as palm springs. 🤨🧐 anyways im coming here in a few hours, so hide your toilet paper because im gonna do something devious. 😈
Oh delicious! Extensive menu, great service and we keep going back to experience a yummy dinner!
Best Thai in the desert. Seriously.
Poor service and oily food.
Food is always delicious, full bar, outdoor seating.
Just got some takeout from Thai Smile - El Paseo location. We thought it best to get take out since everyone seems to have some COVID-19 variant lately! 😕 BTW, Tristan, who took our order via phone, was awesome. They were quoting an hour + for pick up, and he said he’d call me if it was done sooner… and he actually did!
I’m mid-meal and had to post a review before I forgot! Everything we ordered is fantastic!! I had the yellow curry and my guy had pad Thai. My nose is happily running, and my tastebuds are bursting with joy 🤩. This will be our go-to Thai from now on.
Glad they were open Christmas. Awesome service, delicious food!
One of my favorite spots when I go to the desert. Amazing tom ka and you have to try the mee krob!
Great staff, great service. Fried rice was awesome. Drinks were great and priced well. Worth a trip, we will return.
Had lunch food was good, but took 30 minutes and it was not busy.
