Family-run bar & eatery offering Vietnamese & Thai dishes in relaxed surroundings.
Service was phenomenal, food came out fast and tasted authentic, and would definitely come back. I'm not from around the desert and thought it would be hard to find good Thai food here, but this restaurant really surprised me. I would say it's even better than some of the top Thai restaurants in Los Angeles and Orange counties.
This place knows you want delicious fresh amazing food and that is precisely what is served. Absolutely top food prep and quality in the desert, if you're looking for the BEST thai food, here it is. Expect a perfect blend of flavors, perfectly prepared noodles and soups etc... this place goes above and beyond my expectations. All employees know all to know about spice too so if you're a spice fan, prepare to enjoy yourself. See my photo of the ultra spelicey fish sauce which had salty soaked peppers with ultra heat... along with a 4 pepper sauce platter to add to your food as desired. Outstandingly fresh brewed thai tea with or without creamer... I cant say enough good things about this place.
Pad Thai: perfection. Plenty of protein, not unproportionate. See my photos for the curry and hot sour soup as well, all really high level flavorful deliciousness. ENJOY
Excellent service for my lunch today by Mandyπππ
Wonderful and tasty soup and delicious eggplant with rice and vegetables
Fresh and tasty food!
We definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner
A GEM πβ€οΈ
Why you need to overload with SUGAR everything. Keep it authentic. I understand the demographic in your area dislike some flavors, but then is not real anymore.
Great noodles, curries and fried rice. Best Thai in the area.

Fresh and tasty food!
We definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner
A GEM πβ€οΈ
The food was okay, nothing extraordinary. It was a hot day and the place could be cooler. Service was quick as there were only 2 other tables. We were there for lunch.
Great people here.
Good food. Love it!
Always my go to for Thai, its so good and you get a lot of food, the yellow curry and orange chicken is bomb
Amazing food, every time I've eaten here. My #1 favorite in Greater Palm Springs!
The worst. Wife got sick/food poisoning from the chicken. This was confirmed by a doctor. She was vomiting every 20 minutes all night. Now sheβs bed bound. Vacation ruined.
Best curry Iβve ever had! Rich authentic flavors. Stand out dish.
Everything was delicious. All dishes were solid.
dont understand the high ratings.. the food was terrible and took forever to come out
Dined at the basil, three weeks ago. When we arrived the table they gave us was within a foot of the barstools. Seeing that there was very little room for people to walk by to get to the restroom, we asked if we could have a different table. Only one or two tables were sitting in the restaurant at that time. The waiter said he would have to check. You could tell that they were bothered by it. When he came back, he offered one table only that we could move to. We dismissed this, thinking that maybe they had several pending reservations. Needless to say, the restaurant stayed empty the entire time we were there. Now letβs talk about the food. I ordered a ginger chicken dish. The chicken literally was like leather. Dominated flavor of ginger was all I tasted, I love ginger, however, complementing flavors would have been nice. Left almost the entire dish. But the primary reason I will not return is the long history of the horrific odor outside the restaurant. I have only been here one other time and it was about a decade ago. I Remember when I would shop at Smart and final the sewage smell right outside Le Basilβs door, and the fluid that comes from their building and seeps onto the parking lot. It is still there a decade later, and completely offensive when you walk in the door.
Fortunately, there are many other Thai food restaurants right around the corner.
It has been quite awhile since I have had salmon this tender and finely seasoned. An excellent choice for anyone who enjoys a high quality seafood entrΓ©e. The ambience was refreshingly quiet, and I could actually carry on a conversation without having to raise my voice to compete with all the other tables around us. I appreciate the fact that outdoor dining is back, but the number of people who are just trying to feel normal again by eating out seems to be greatly increased. This eatery was far removed from the crowds of El Paseo and is well worth the money. Very well pleased!
Great food.
Every dish was a delicious savory sensation. Service felt personal. If you love food, you must check this place out!
This is our go-to restaurant for good Asian fusion food alone and with a group. The food & staff are excellent, with a varied menu to please everyone. We especially like the Vietnamese dishes, such as the Bun bowls, that we can't get anywhere else in the valley. Highly recommend!
Fantastic great tasting food one of the best restaurants I have ever been to.
I'll give a super 5+stars plus great food great service..plus the new outdoor remodeling to keep up with their great service and great food.
Service is terrible. Donβt plan on eating with the people you came with because the food does not come out together. One meal will come out then 10-15 min later another meal. Food is good but I would suggest takeout only.
We have been coming here for years and the food has always been exceptional! It was no different tonight. But the service is simply atrocious, always has been, probably always will be. The appetizers come but before the dishes are removed, the entrees arrive. The table beside us gets the wrong food and the table behind us also has a service issue. No offer to refill our drinks or our water glasses. We make a specific request for refills and it takes an eternity. We ask for extra napkins but end up going to the supply area and getting them ourselves. We are finished dinner but the wait staff is too busy with other tables so we sit for 20 minutes waiting for the bill. The place wasnβt even busy. We eventually give up and head to the till at the end of the bar where an apology is provided and the bill is presented. We pay the bill with a tip and are on our way. The food itself very good but the experience tainted for us and our guests. Rumour has it another location is in your future. Strongly recommend you learn to operate the location you have before you try to expand. You do not know how to run this part of your resturant and you fail to hire someone who does. The person you hired for tonight had no training and no clue what they were and were not doing. Thatβs not on them, thatβs on you.
Food is not tasty.
It took about 30 minutes to get 2 dishes of Pad Thai that we asked to exchange for fish instead of as in the menu with chicken, It was hard and dry, but the charge was doubled.
We also asked a curry dish.
Terrible food! I got food poisoning, DONβT go here. I ordered the orange chicken and was sick for x3 days. It cost me over $1000 to get better and call in a doctor. Ruined my holiday! Please donβt go here. The doctor confirmed I had food poisoning. My husband also didnβt like his food either. Very very disappointed.
We came for lunch, ordered an Asian eggplant with beef, and a yellow curry chicken, added side soup. All are delicious, highly recommended.
Le Basil is my favorite restaurant, everything is sooooooo fresh and made to order
Service is outstanding
Not goodβ about 3 pieces of pre-cooked chicken and was like rubber. I said I didnβt care for it and portion to small and waitress said nothingβ- not going back.
Just wowβ¦. We got the shrimp coconut curry and pad Thai with beef and fried riceβ¦. Food was just perfect. Balanced flavors, fresh ingredientsβ¦ I wish I lived closer to here to come here for lunchβ¦
Wow just sat down for lunch. Oh my, what a delicious experience. Had the Kapow Kai with chicken and basil eggplant. Both dishes were top notch. Excellent service made the experience even better. I'll add photos on the next visit.
I frequent Vietnamese restaurants. I ordered Bun Thit Nuong, rice noodles with pork. I added shrimp for an extra charge, thinking I would get the very common dish Bun Tom Thit Nuong, cold rice noodles with shrimp and pork. I was very surprised to find the pork missing. With only shrimp, the dish was not really satisfying.
Ordered an appetizer togo that took almost 40 minutes. What made the whole situation worse is the couple sitting next to me at the bar ordered two entrees at about the same time which came out a good 10 to 15 minutes before my appetizer! WTH? If you forgot to put my order in, at least let me know or offer me a drink while I wait 40 minutes for a togo appetizer order.
The beef wrapped with grape leaves was actually quite tasty. The dipping sauce was slightly bland but I'm used to authentic food in Little Saigon. The food here competes but the service was horrible.
Just generally not good. βWorld famousβ pad Thai was exceptionally dry noodles. Chef was apparently too tired to cut eggplant up for curry.
Looking for great Thai food? This restaurant is a must-visit! The Tom Ka Kai soup is a standout dish, with a perfect blend of tangy and savory flavors that will warm you up. The fried tofu Vietnamese rolls are a great appetizer, and don't miss the orange chicken or the Bo Lu Lac, a flavorful Vietnamese-style beef dish that's brought out on a hot skillet. The portions are generous, and the service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommended for any Thai or Vietnamese food lover!
Outstanding. Proportions we're adequate. The flavor complexity was amazing and exceedingly fresh. I'll be back.
Wonderful spicy noodle. Worth the price.
We ordered seafood soup for 20.95 , which came with mussels and shrimp. It was pretty bland and a bit hard to scoop with a laddle because of the serving bowl it came in. We also ordered pineapple fried rice which was 22.95. On their menu is says it is serve with a pineapple bowl. It was served on a regular plate. The portion size was small and probably had four chunks of pineapple. The entrees were served first before the soup and salad. We were almost done with entrees by the time the soup and salad came out.
Service can also be better. The server did not ask how we were doing or how the food was. He was just dropping off or orders to our table. I donβt think we will be back
Pad Thai - very good but too pricey $18.95 for chicken pad Thai
Panama curry 3 stars- curry flavor not strong
This appears to be a family owned restaurant with very friendly staff. We went for dinner during a busy evening and were told that we can have a table in 15 mins. Even though two tables emptied, it took many more minutes and some prodding for someone to actually clean and seat us. We placed an order immediately before the person who seated us went away. It took 15+ minutes to get water. Food arrived much later. We had the vegetarian spring rolls, panang curry and green curry. The spring rolls were excellent. The panang curry was good but the green curry was a bit runny. Overall above average food but service can be more prompt.
Always a must have for Thai food in the desert
Get the money bags!!
Great food, sometimes a little wait, but always worth it
We ordered panang curry with chicken and with beef. Somehow the chicken one was pretty tasteless. Some shrimp in Spring rolls appetizer was undercooked. And it was pretty expensive. Not impressed.
they took forever to bring our food, people that arrived much later got served before us, waiter with an attitude, disappointing experience, not going back :(
Delicious- good service and really fantastic food. Authentic Vietnamese and Thai specialty cooking. Simple but full of flavour
Food was ok at best. ate it only cause I was hungry π I had came in around 2. When I was still eating someone else came and asked if they had the lunch special and waiter said no, it was only on weekends, another man came out and told that Person they could do the lunch special , but when it came time for me to pay, I paid full price and wasnβt given the lunch special like the person that came 20 mins after did. Lol I was shook . I guess they just pick and choose who can get it? oh well, definitely expected a little more for the price. Was kinda left to myself while everyone else was being attended to. Wasnβt offered water and my food came out before the Thai tea ever came. Thai tea was just thrown together. Paid $26.05 for pad Thai and a Thai tea. Definitely was not worth it. Especially when the person that came after me was given the lunch special price. a little upsetting but itβs fine.
Excellent thai food in Palm Desert. A must try !
Delicious food.
Food here was good, a small menu, but heard of this place from family member, this was a good place to eat!
Had the Asian eggplant with tofu. It was good, I liked it!
Very nice place inside too!
Worst Tom yum I have ever had. Standards are low in the desert.
Amazing. I had the spicy green curry and tempura vegetables. I had to restrain myself from licking the plate clean. Excellent service, decent prices and great atmosphere. This is my new favorite asian spot in the desertt
I couldn't really eat much off the menu because or food allergies but let me tell you! The orange chicken was a delight. I believe they make the sauce for each order because it was so hot and fress that the extra sauce i had on the plate i just smothered my white rice into it. I tasted like a blend of sweet and sour sauce and a zesty orange flavor.
Amazing food and excellent service from staff.
We have been going here for years. We love this place. They have great Tom Kha kai and they donβt use MSG.
Authentic Thai food I've ever had in US. Despite a long wait.
Probably the worst bowl of Pho I've ever had. The broth lacked flavor and tasted like it came out of a can. I added a star for my my wife's chicken dish which was good but way overpriced. Service was friendly, however the wait time for our food in a nearly empty restaurant was excessive.
Service was slow. My food arrived cold. They took so much time warming it up that everyone else was finished with there meals. Waiter Unapologetic.
True Thai experience wonderful food!
Iβve lived in cities all over the world, and I have visited many, many other cities - multiple times. And Iβve had Thai food in essentially all of them.
This is probably the best Thai food Iβve had, and I would never make that comment lightly. Whatβs more, the food we had was home delivered. Extraordinarily good! Congratulations to this family run restaurant! Keep doing what youβre doing.
The food here is always delicious and fresh. It didn't seem too crowded for a Saturday night but they were short staffed(as is most places these days) but they did their best to make sure we were taken care of with friendly smiles.
You can't go wrong with anything you order.
Tasty food, good portion size, friendly. Would definitely go back.
Best thai food in the valley and good atmosphere.
Small oriental restaurant located in Palm Desert. Good food. Can be busy at times.
Missed this restaurant so much. Been away 2 years. Filled up on appetizers and delicious asparagus and lobster soup. Fresh egg rolls, stuffed chicken legs, etc. Plum wine too. Next time I want one of their Curry entrees, sooo good .Loved the decor and the neighborly vibes
Good food!
Good Southeast asain food. Nice bar setting and variety of cocktails and liquor.
The food is good the customer service needs to get worked on.
Great food but they need more staff the service was very slow
Don't sit in the outside area; they may forget you. Expect to wait 90+ minutes for food to arrive during busy periods
Freshest food Iβve eaten in a long time.
Had the orange chicken and appetizers.
My three other guests were satisfied with
Their orders also.
Good food, & friendly staff!
Delicious food and friendly atmosphere.
Tom yum soup is the best that I have ever had. Service was awesome too.
Curry was outstanding. Great flavor and service
We have been going to Le Basil for many many years, and the quality and hospitality have always been superb. For sure, one of the top asian food places in town.
Food is super and we had returned the second day.
Staff is very friendly. Food was great.
This is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant in the valley. Make no mistake Thai food is one of my favorites so it's definitely a treat for myself or with company whenever I get to eat at this restaurant.
Oni (pronounced O-Knee , and I'm not sure if I spelled that right either) is a very attentive and charming waiter. I haven't been here in about 3 years and when I stopped in the other day he still remembered me which of course feels great. In a nutshell the service is stellar.
The food is absolutely fantastic. There's so much flavor in these dishes I wouldn't even know where to begin. Honestly I love Thai food as I previously mentioned and while there are some good Thai restaurants in the valley, this place just seems to take those extra steps that reward the palate with uncompromising flavor and texture.
I can honestly say I've never had a bad dish here, not even close.
Whether you're in the mood to have one of your Thai favorites or try something new I highly recommend this restaurant whether it's just a lunch or dinner for yourself, a very nice date, or if you want to hang out with some friends this place has the atmosphere which can provide all of the above.
Cheers & Bon Appetit!
Great Food. Great Service. Great Ambiance. I'll definitely return.
We LIVE for the fresh rolls, dipped in their delectable peanut sauce mixed with their INCOMPARABLE house-roasted chile paste (trust me, NO one else's is worthy!). I've never deviated from the phenomenally delicious Asian eggplant, sometimes with shrimp (always cooked to plump perfection), often without, but always eggplant (I'm the type who tries something else and, if it's good, fine, but who is SO remorseful if it isn't as good as my tried-and-true fave). My husband's favorites are wide-ranging, but he's always very pleased. They cook everything with pride of ownership -- and that says it all.
It's nice but the prices here are a little steep for the portions that you get. The food is still good though
Over all really poor experience. Ordered over the phone and our order was incorrect and was troublesome to amend. Staff did not want to correct. Food was cold once we finally received the correct order. Later in the night felt extremely sick in my stomach as well. Would not recommend.
What an awesome dining experience. The food and staff are absolutely perfect. Delicious menu. Drinks are great. I really enjoy this restaurant and highly recommend it.
Egg rolls were good. Chicken yellow curry was too sweet, same with orange chicken and pad Thai lack of flavor depth andπΆοΈ. Overall it was ok.
Always extremely fresh and delicious.
Seriously a very good experience. Staff was perfect. What I mean is the followingβ¦
They politely checked on me while I was on the phone. Provided an appropriate amount of time for me to read the menu.
When I stressed I had not been here before and was not sure what to choose, I was greeted with a few questions and provided options.
Food was served promptly, however not too fast after my order as to say, we made your meal fresh not provide you something that was already prepared.
Portion was healthy but no need for a box.
It was closing time and I did not feel the pressure to leave. I didnβt even realize it was closing time actually.
In my opinion one of my best nonchalant, accidental experiences Iβve had at a restaurant. I have spent the night in 46 states and 7 countries and I will be back here.
Nice Thai Restaurant being my first visit I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered a Thai Coffee and it was refreshingly different. I then had Panga Curry (sp?) and was disappointed how bland it was, but I failed to request medium spicy. The curry had a fair amount of chicken, I counted 2 or 3 pieces of bell pepper. I couldn't recommend this dish.
I'll go back and try it again to be fair.
Green Curry was a very delish dish
Food is delicious!! Nice, quiet little place... The only reason it's not 5 stars is because you have to flag someone down to order. The wait staff doesn't check on the tables enough.
Delicious. I had the duck.
Comfortable good portions fantastic flavor, nice people.
Absolutely delicious food. Family owned. Been going there for 20 years.
Great authentic food and great service
Its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good and the rice is amazing π€©π€©π€© so is the pad Thai and the tom Kha soup is just..... No words to describe the taste. (That's how good) how is it not popular yet and not all over the world........???
Everything was so good!
I've eaten here a handful of times and each time it's delicious and the service is great. Orange Chicken, Low Mein, Beef & Broccoli= highly recommend !
Delicious food, great service. Extensive vegetarian options available. Beautiful patio.
I get cravings for the food at Le Basil restaurant! Try the spicy noodles with chicken or the curry. Great local business! Patio seating. Ample parking. Right next to Smart and Final.
Wonderful atmosphere. They are fully open with great out door dining experience with heat lamps so you stay warm. Waiters and manager is very friendly and tried their best to accommodate to your needs. Very wonderful people!
Possibly the BEST Southeast Asian dining in the Valley! The owners are always nice and the service is great! I've tried yellow curry at well over two dozen Asian restaurants across the country and Le Basil has some of the best yellow curry I've ever eaten!
This is one of my top 3 choices for restaurants and the entire desert.
Great food, great service. One of our favorite restaurants in the desert.
It was wonderful π
WOW. I the old location in redlands was our go to Thai place and we were so sad to see it close. But we finally were able to make it out to palm desert and get takeout from le basil here. We were not disappointed! Even with all the memories and hype from our memories of the old le basil, it exceeded expectations.
To start, the fresh rolls are incredible. The lettuce is crisp and everything tastes fresh. The peanut dipping sauce is incredible and complements it perfectly. Highly recommend! (We got ours with tofu instead of shrimp)
We got both the panang and yellow curry with fresh tofu and they were both incredible. I prefer the brown rice to the white rice at least here. The brown rice has more substance and is more of an heirloom/wild rice compared to traditional brown. The curries were both smooth and great consistencies. Not watery at all
All the noodles we got were yummy, but the pad Thai in particular stole the show. It was saucy, flavorful and tasted great. The pad see ew is a classic and was lived by everyone. The spicy noodles (pad kee mao/drunken noodles) were good but definitely took a step back from the other two. Not because they were bad but because the rest was just so good!
Super excited to know le basil is still doing what it does best. Highly recommend!!
Flavorful, Good service, they were very careful with 5 vegetarian in our party. Fried rice was yum, each dish was so flavorful and the servers were very nice.
The food here is always on point!
I've been eating at this restaurant for over 10 years and I'm never disappointed plus the service is the best! Two thumbs upππ
Always great amazing food and service! Vietnamese grape leaves wrap appetizer is fun!
Excellent, tasty, authentic Thai food, prompt, friendly service, beautiful shaded dog friendly patio, and if you are so inclined, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options!
Fresh rolls with extra peanut sauce.. Yum!
Best pad se ew ever! Excellent place for thai tea as well.
Awesome Red / Panang Curry!
Lunch menu food was very good and the staff was very nice! Thai iced tea was also very good. Would recommend coming here for some authentic SEA food
Good food and good customer service!
Always has great food and awesome service. It definitely hits the spot for lunch or dinner any time of the week.
We picked up for dinner for tonight and we will have enough for tomorrow! Every item was absolutely delicious and the best weβve ever had. Just the right amount of seasonings, spice, and not greasy. We had chicken in caramel sauce, Pad Thai, mixed vegetables, and green chicken curry with brown and white rice. Incredible dinner. π Thank you.
Good food. Easy to go π Love those fresh spring rolls! Yummy.
Real life chef here...OUTSTANDING food and even better owners and staff. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. A favorite of mine is the crispy fish apple salad!
slow paced restaurant, nothing special.
The ambiance is very subtle I love the lamps and lightning when you are in this place you can not tell the time it seems is night and the menu has a variety of delighted Thai food i have tried the shrimp coconut soup , they bring you a big pot which is lighted up with candle fire in the center to keep it warm is good for sharing up to three people or if you are hungry you can have it all!!:) the Pad Thai is garnished with cilantro peanut butter dressing and the meat of your choice and the noodles are made of brown rice . The food is fresh and the service is good I would recommend this place for lunch or dinner you don' t need reservation the time I have been there I just walk in
Pho and orange chicken are amazing!
The food is very good but my 2 stars are only for the unpleasant attitude I noticed from one of the employees. I won't say which one but I will say he is probably the youngest person there. Oh well
Sorry but this not the place for good Thai food. Not hot and really boring food.
I love the variety you can choose from and fresh Thai iced coffee is the best in town.
The best authentic Thai restaurant in Coachella Valley! The owners Tor and Orn will accommodate what you need even it's not on the menu!
My daughter loves their yellow egg noodles which they always make it special just for her.
Great experience. Food is always tasty and usually awesome service.
Great Tom Ka Kai soup. Delicious Pad Thai. Friendly service.
We had an incredible dinner here and will definitely return. Try the green curry, pad see ew and the fried banana dessert.
Amazing. Truly a neighborly hidden gem. First time dining and won't be the last. Excellent food! Wonderful ambiance and great service. A must on your dining experience.
Great phad thai noodles
Food is always yummy
