Best food
This Thai restaurant offers flavorful dishes with generous portions. One of my friends has a shrimp allergy, so we asked the staff about the menu, and they were helpful in explaining which dishes contained shrimp.
We ordered the pineapple curry and fried rice, and both were delicious. The atmosphere is okay, parking is convenient, and it looks like takeout is very popular here as well. I recommend giving it a try!
Pad Curry (w/chicken) at medium spice level, was not too spicy for me and was flavorful. I don't usually eat thai very often, but it's what someone would expect the spice from Curry + flat noodles together. (Sorry foodies, I'm not great at food descriptions! 😅)
I also tried the pad Thai my friend was having and it was miles better than Shuna Thai. I loved how the pad thai came with a bit thicker noodles instead of rice noodles, as I prefer a more chewier texture.
The waiter gave us a free dessert for the 4 of us since we did have to wait standing in line for about 10-15 minutes. It was delightful and I had a pleasant experience there!
Go to place for Thai. Great roti and spring rolls come with plum sauce. Coconut rice was fluffy and mango sticky rice lasted for days. Usually shell out $50 or so and then eat it for 3-4 days for multiple meals. Tofu pad kee mao could always have a bit more tofu. If you are sick get the Tom yum or Tom kha to knock out a nasty cold. Loyal customer!
My Dad loves this place! The eggplant basil with tofu is delicious. Decent vegan options! Always check the to go order, they forgot tofu in the eggplant basil this last time. They seemed a bit busy so it makes sense!
We do order here often, but I am annoyed about the forced tip for a take out order. Shame on you. If you need more money for your workers, adjust your prices, don't hide behind a required "staff tips" item at checkout. Let me choose the amount to tip, particularly if I am doing all the ordering and pickup myself.
Our favorite Thai in the area. We love their egg noodle soup and the fish dishes. But really everything we ordered is great. Staff is super friendly, great service.
Too oily!
Pretty big servings but the taste could be better
Loved food here.
Cambodian Hor Mok w/ Rod Cod is super delish when they make it right unlike my take-out order recently. This is why they get 3 stars for inconsistency.

very unfriendly waiter, answered questions irritably. door for pickup is open, boys quickly cool down. they themselves added the article gratitude plus ask for tips for service that does not make customers happy
Better not to visit this place
This place does prepare nice meals but I usually do doordash with them.
Dishes I have opted for the least amount of spice or no spice, my dish was spicy to the point I could not consume it.
I doordashed just their sweet sticky mango rice dessert and I felt like I was eating a plate of salt. Very disappointing since I have had Thai from many locations in the peninusla and this is the first location to make this dessert with a salty coconut milk which is very disappointing.
I'll have to find another Thai place that prepares the sweet sticky rice mango properly as they sell this dish for about $14.00 and actually prepares the dishes with each modification to spice level appropriately.
Their catfish is my favorite thing to order. It’s amazing
I had Pad Thai with Chicken. It was mostly noodles, about 12-14oz, 5 or 6 cubes of tofu and 3 small slices of chicken, 2 one inch slices of green onion. There was NO peanut topping and NO lemon slice. The sauce was okay, but again it was mostly noodles. I tried Tommy Thai’s because my favorite Thai restaurant in Sunnyvale at Grape and El Camino was closed for the holidays. That one’s worth the trip. This one is a RIP OFF! $21!
Ordered through their website. Waited an hour, said that it must have gotten lost and they would make it fast. 25 more minutes standing in the rain it turned out that they had made someone else's order fast. So 90 minutes later I guess I'm making Mac and cheese for my kids and doing a charge back.

Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The staff were extremely rude, showing no regard for customers. I was treated with complete disregard from the start, and there was an absurd delay both in getting attended to and in having my order prepared.
When I asked how much longer it would take, the server rudely replied that they had no idea and that “everyone waits.” They even suggested that I could cancel my order if I wanted to. Faced with this unprofessional and disrespectful attitude, I decided to leave without waiting any longer. I do not recommend this place and certainly won’t be coming back!
Excellent food, large portions but I would rather carry out. It’s not meant for a sit down experience but I have to admit I do visit in person because I like my food extremely hot. Protip: try their Cambodian dishes, my favorite is the Cambodian fried rice, full of great veggies cooked to perfection and if you add a protein it’s a meal in one dish
I came here a year ago and the food was good today it was absolutely terrible I don't know if it was even real? The chicken tasted like fake tofu chicken, the noodles tasted like plastic. I have to go back three times and ask for cause and utencils. I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart it's the worst Thai food I've ever had in my life. Also the customer service was terrible. We asked if they deveined their shrimp and they refuse to answer us. Literally go anywhere else.
really disappointed with Thai food
These 2 dishes were unique and really delicious 😋
1. Tamarind crispy chicken with pineapple.
2. Green papaya salad
Good was fantastic! We enjoyed our birthday dinner at Tommy's and will be coming back.
i am a big mango sticky rice lover like i’ve had so many different kinds but this one from tommy thai was actually so bad like it’s bitter and salty and it wasn’t like a good bitter and salty it was to the point where i couldn’t enjoy it i even added condensed milk from my house i couldn’t save it unfortunately 😕😕😕 ( thai tea was fire tho 🔥 )
Lady behavior is not good she has no manners how to talk to the customer
Too much sugar in the food, even the spicy dishes taste sweet
I don't want to judge on the whole dining experience because I didn't have it, I ordered take out. I ordered yellow curry and pad Thai (medium spice). No spice to be tasted or seen. The curry had so many unevenly cooked potatoes I thought they might have been microwaved. The pad Thai was also overcooked and the noodles were all broken into 1 inch pieces.
Granted, it all tasted good, but the details were all missing.
Given that each dish cost near $20, you would expect either more or better. You get neither.
We ordered pad Thai noodles. They were too oily
Best Thai food in the Bay Area! Highly recommend the green curry!
Omg!!!!!!
I came here a year ago with my Godmother. First thing the waiter was very rude( maybe racist? I’m mixed with white Hawaiian and Latina but basically brown, can’t really tell I’m half Irish at all lol), anyway he kept rolling his eyes and rushing me. An older Asian woman ( owner?) also giving me evil eye!? The food was disgusting, Luke warm, very mushy and bland like literally NO flavor whatsoever!!!!
And I actually got food poisoning after that lasted for 2 days 😫 I also noticed lots of flies buzzing around ( they kept the front door open), no a/c so expect to sweat and the last straw was when I saw not 1 but 2 cockroaches, one crawling on the floor, and the other on the wall, if you value quality food, avoid this awful place!! And the decor inside is out of date and very cramped!! Panda Express is just a few blocks away, I recommend that💯🙏
if you want a true thai cuisine experience this may not be the place for you. maybe the chef changed the flavors to suit americans but it was really sweet. they could have done better
!!HORRIBLE PLACE FOR VEGETARIANS!!
This place is horrible for vegetarians especially if you are a Thai food loving Indian vegetarian. We are Indian vegetarians and I visited here with my family. We ordered 4 dishes; they came one by one and 3 of the dishes were contaminated with non-veg. It was shocking for us as the server/chef has no concern of their misdeeds. We have been in the bay area for past 20+ years and love Thai food. This was our 1st visit to Tommy's Thai and the experience was horrible. When we returned one of the dishes after identifying that that it has undesired pieces, they came back after removing the pieces instead of making a new dish without it. We found a few very small pieces at the end...complete crap! I wish we have never visited this place!
very good food
building was cute
default option if i want take out
Love this place!
I ordered a pineapple fried rice, a Cambodian rock cod curry, and a yellow curry noodle soup,
The fried rice was a 5/5. During Covid it was 2, so a big improvement.
The Cambodian fish was a 5, very pungent so you must like pungent food to order it. The yellow noodle sadly was a 2.5.
The portions were generous, the service fast and friendly, the ambience 3.5. The restaurant was dark and I don’t like a dark restaurant. Unclean areas won’t be easily detected as I read somewhere online.
Tip was predetermined at 18, 25, and 30%.
Overall I gave it a 4/5. I hope next time the restaurant will look brighter
I always drive by this place and it’s busy so it’s been on my list to try for a while and I finally got it as takeout. The Pad Thai was good, though I selected 5/10 spiciness and it was actually quite mild, so next time will maybe go up to 7, but I don’t want overly spicy either. Other than that you get a lot of food for $16 so that’s great.
If you want genuine Thai food, don’t come here. All the food I ordered, they are of the same flavor(probably they use the same sauce to cook all). God knows how much sugar they poured into these tiny plates. Too sweet, too soft, too oily, nothing like Thai, only disgusting.
This is our go-to late night restaurant! The experience is always so warm, cozy and delicious. Everything that we have ever ordered is great! We highly recommend this place!
Good food but the service was subpar. Seemed like the waiter did not want to be there and was not very friendly.
Food and ambience was good but tell your server not to bring appetizer soup and main course together . We ordered soup and chicken satay ( which are appetizers) the server brought main course dish and rice first, then after 5-7 min of us waiting he then brings soup with other main course and more rice We had to tell him to take back the main course so we can have our soup which is in hot pot first . Weird they should have known this or they were just trying to rush us off
Food is consistently great. We’ve only ordered for takeout multiple times, so I can’t speak on the service or atmosphere. However their food is delicious and give generous portions. Their noodles, curries, dumplings, and thai tea are impeccable. It was quite difficult to find decent Thai food in the Bay Area, and Tommy Thai has met my expectations.
Everything was great and very generous portion sizes that you can share
My favorite is Green Curry Pork. I have been eating here over 10 years. Love it. Good portion and great price. I tried yellow curry, Pad tai, and pad see ew. I think Green curry is still the best.
Ugh, I will never eat here again. I have eaten here about 5-6 times and am disappointed every time I do. This last time I went was the worst and I will never return. I worked at a Thai restaurant for 4 years with chefs from Thailand during my college years, so I’ve had my fair share of Thai food. I was craving some pad Thai so I ordered it. Now, if a restaurant can’t make a good pad Thai, literally Thailand’s most known dish in the states, that’s not a good sign. The pad Thai was a soggy, MUSHY, wet mess. The noodles literally fell apart because it was SO soft. You can see the pieces in the photo. The pad Thai sauce also tasted off, like there was ketchup in it. When mentioned to the server, she said,” okay” and walked away.
I don’t typically send back food or complain about it but this was inedible. What you see in the picture was exactly how much I didn’t eat. What made it worse was the lack of good customer service to address the issue. I was with 2 other people who were also extremely dissatisfied with their food; one of them also ordered the pad Thai.
I feel like it’s been hard to find good Thai food in the South Bay. I’m still on the lookout for a good place but skip this one.
Gigantic portions!
Lively environment with positive energy flowing in the restaurant. Good friendly staff. Tasty curries and appetizers. Don’t miss roti.
This I one of my favorites restaurants in the area.
the panang curry is so flavorful and delicious!! also love the coconut rice, it’s the right amount of both fluffy and sticky. everything i’ve tried here is great, only downside is it’s slightly pricey with a side of coconut rice being $4, but you get wonderful food for it!
Very flavourful - highly recommend the curries & noodles.
Food tasted great. Each food can be customized and you can pick which vegetables to remove. Love that part about it.
Big portions Thai food!
Bombastic
I’m glad I decided to try Tommy Thai! I picked up take-out for a party of 6, and everyone had good things to say about the food. Ordering through their website was straightforward, and the dishes were ready exactly when I wanted them. I got 5 dishes (two curries, two noodle dishes, and a fried rice) and it was more than enough; the portions were flavorful and truly generous. Plenty of vegetarian options, too!
Good food ,
Can't go wrong with Tom Kha Gai.
We ordered basil fried rice and salmon panang curry. Not tasty at all. Couldn’t give more than one star. Fried rice doesn’t have any vegetables except some raw bell peppers, only three shrimp in the shrimp+chicken combo protein, seemed I am eating some onion fried rice with a lot of sauces, very much disappointing! Salmon panang curry has good amount of gravy but doesn’t taste good. The pathetic part is you have to take $2.5 rice with the panang curry, no complementary side!
Not recommended at all!
We are a family from CT and haven’t had this good Thai cuisine in a while!
Tommy hot wings are the best chicken wings ever and I got them at least once a week when I was local. I got these when I was sad, happy, and/or mad - emotional support wings, so juicy and sweet and spicy and crunchy 🫂
Friendly, fast, and delicious food.
This is my favorite restaurant in Mountain View! Tea leaf salad is AMAZING, and all the fried rice specials are very tasty. Huge portions. And the owners are great!
The Cambodian fried rice and green curry were amazing.
TOMMY THAI WAS SPECIAL! I was wondering why there were so many bad reviews after I left. The food was amazing. The service was alright, and the ambiance was nice! I got the Cambodian noodle soup and the pineapple fried rice and both were amazing. The Cambodian noodle soup was absolutely phenomenal. The broth was so tasty and it was a cool transparent! There were so many veggies and so many noodles which I loved! Everything was perfectly cooked and so was my tofu as well. The pineapple fried rice was also amazing. There was barely any pineapple, but the rice was so flavorful and still had loads of everything else like veggies, cashews, and protein which I loved! It was really tasty and there were a couple of crispy rice which was a cherry on top! The portions were really large so expect leftovers. All of the food was also affordable, so because of all this I would definitely reccomend Tommy Thai to others and don't be afraid because of a couple bad reviews!
Veg Panang curry with no fish or oyster sauce is available, also taste is nice.
This is the first place I've been that have separate Cambodian and Thai style foods. It's was a great time with my family. I ordered the eggplant tofu with a side of rice and my sister ordered the Cambodian See-ew. We keep ordering more that I lost track and the portions are very generous. Everything was so delicious that I forgot to take photos until half way through our meal. This place is definitely going to be one of my go-to from now on.
The food at Tommy Thai is delicious! The tastiest restaurant around, hands down. Portion sizes are big so even if it’s a little more expensive than other places, you get more food than other places. And it’s delicious. I’m vegetarian / vegan and they are very amenable to this with a veg section of the menu and are happy to make dishes with no egg or fish sauce. They also have Cambodian specialties which are very yummy: Crispy Eggplant and Cambodian Mixed Veggies. Some dishes are oily, but you can request less oil.
The portion seemed small but surprisingly, it filled us up. We ordered hot pot sized Tom Yum Soup and Bamboo. It was amazing 👏 and the staffs were so nice/attentive to us. She also like to joke around which is fun 😄. I recommend it but it is a little hot/humid in here, even at night. Please ask for ice cold water if you can't handle spiciness or heat. Otherwise 11/10
For delivery via “TOMMY’S WINGS” ordered 2x wings at $14 each. Food was good but $28 for 16 wings!?! Way too expensive. Never again.
Separately: ordered curry, basil, noodles, roti, and satay. Curry is watery, with chili powder that tastes unintegrated; pad Thai had a funky plasticky smell; most flavorful parts of dinner were the little tubs of dipping sauces. Thai iced tea was watered down. There’s much better Thai food at similar prices nearby. Pass.
Tommy Thai captivates diners with its exquisite blend of aromatic spices and fresh ingredients, delivering a memorable Thai dining experience that balances traditional flavors with modern presentation.
Tommy Thai is our local go-to place for ordering Thai food! We love it so much! The take-out portion sizes are generous and all of the dishes that we've tried so far have been delicious. We've ordered from here multiple times when we host folks and don't want to cook ourselves and everyone always has amazing things to say about the food. In particular, the spicy catfish, yellow curry, and pad see ewe are highlights that alway get eaten quickly. Their online ordering is very easy to use and we love the ability to choose both the protein and the spice level for everything.
I got the Pad Thai for takeout thinking pad thai is generally a safe choice but the sauce made me think of marinara sauce mixed with ketchup which is definitely not what I was expecting so I wouldn't recommend
It's not a Thai restaurant.
It has several dishes with Thai names that vaguely recall their origin.
For example: Papaya salad, which is called "Somam" in Thailand.
Well, it's not a Sotam, but a salad with tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts, sliced of carrot , lemon juice, salt, etc.
It's not a salad with the flavors of Somtam, and it's not made in a mortar and pestle.
The Tom-Yam seafood soup reminded me of the Thai Tom-Yam, but the flavors are weak, and the calamari was not chewy.
The Tom-Yam was served without a heating candle as it should be, and within 3 minutes, it was completely cold. In a Thai restaurant, there should be pictures within the menu, and here there were none.
The restaurant also has Cambodian dishes and dishes not related to Asian cuisine.
Price: 1 Papaya salad + 1 regular size Tom-Yam soup + 1 Singa beer cost 50 US$+tip.
We wanted Thai and decided to give Tommy Thai a try. Had chicken satay, pad Thai, and basil eggplant chicken. The place is cute and staff very attentive, but alas the food was good but not great. Both the satay chicken and the basil eggplant chicken were a bit overcooked and slightly tough. The pad Thai was very wet, and quite sweet. Don’t think we’d repeat.
Very good food, the fried Tofu is a must try... yellow Curry is my favorite. Tommy Thai is very busy. Customer service is good but could be a bit more friendly or communicative. A ton of Uber eats drivers. It's definitely a once a month treat !!!
Tasty food, warm indoors, large portions! Open later at night until 11. Will come back if in the neighborhood again!
Good pad Thai, good yellow curry
Good food, great service.
I found lipstick on the glass of water.
The food was alright, but the soup/hotpot seems a bit impractical. They gave us a laddle, which was too big to even enter that hot pot container.
Why is it so hard to find Thai food that isn't dessert sweet in the US? Food wasn't this sweet in Thailand. Don't want to have to wait until I can go to Vegas to get my annual Lotus of Siam fix. Nam khao tod 4 Lyfe!
Such a cute family owned restaurant! We have come here for years and everything is very excellent. The service as also excellent. I highly recommend the pumpkin curry!
This Thai restaurant is truly exceptional; I find myself irresistibly drawn to its fresh, perfectly spiced dishes. Addictively good! I’m going to be back soon!
1. Called to ask if they had any lunch deals, was told yes and there wasn’t a deal in sight.
2. Nobody greeted me when I walked in. I had to walk all the way to the back to get seated, and the woman who was eating acted like I interrupted her when I simply wanted to be seated.
3. Bland and tasteless food.
4. Paid $35+ for shrimp and a drink.
5. Bathroom is OUTSIDE the restaurant.
For no customer service and overpriced/underwhelming food, please come right on through.
Great food
This place is busy during weekends. They've got a lot of vegan options. Do try their soups. They give them in a fancy boiler.
Possibly some of the best Tom Yum soup I've ever had. Perfect level of spice, great flavor profile. Take out was ready in about 10 mins.
Food delivered was piping hot, well packaged, ample servings, and absolutely delicious. The Green curry was well balanced with the coconut milk so you could taste both and it had eggplant and plenty of chicken and other vegetables. It was not too watery. And it was perfect! The spring rolls were medium sized and crispy. And the Pad Thai noodle was the best I’ve ever had! This is authentic, delicious, and fresh food! I could eat their cooking every day!
Dined here recently and overall, the food was pretty good. Had a peculiar experience with one of our dishes — the chicken had an unusual fishy aroma. Although the waiter consulted the chef and assured us it contained no fish, it left us a tad uneasy. To their credit, they were very understanding and removed the item from our bill. Kudos to them for serving us even at 10:30 pm, just a half hour before closing. Good vibe.
Good food. Large portions. It's a small, quiet place. Decent for a small group. The Thai curry could serve 2-3 people.
I got the pad Thai, Good portion size, but food was a little bland and colorless. Not terribly upset about price for a good amount of alright food
Their garlic noodles with pork is oh so delicious. You will feel so good after having that or their Pad Thai, trust me.
Very decent Thai place with lots of Burmese and Thai options. Food quantities are good and prices are quite decent.
Brought visiting professors from Peru -- went over well; everything was perfect and everyone is happy
The food is flavorful and fresh. Absolutely loved it! Can’t wait to try their papaya salad.
Rude food server
Decent quality with big portions to go
I really appreciated this restaurant. The food was amazing, some of the best Thai food I've ever had, and on top of that, the service was so kind, generous, and attentive. I appreciated that the most. Thank you for caring about your customers!
Please go back to the original recipe for the crispy chicken. I ordered it 2 days ago and the texture/taste was different and disgusting. Chewy, not crispy at all. Would love to give 5 stars but let's see what happens when I order again.
Great Thai food! Food portions are plenty as well so I feel it’s quite reasonably priced. They have a range of 1-9 in spice levels and the 9 is pretty darn spicy. So if you’re looking for spicy Thai food at a reasonable price this is your best shot!
Only downside is the restroom is outside and could be maintained a bit better. Was still fairly clean and usable though!
Rude customer care and not cleanness.I found one fly in food
I threw up after eating pad Thai. My family also felt uncomfortable after eating pad Thai.. Be careful of the food
The good restaurant was good, ambience maybe needs to worked on a little, otherwise it's good. The food was also good and the portion was excellent. We have good taste in thai food so we tell that it was a little bland for our taste. But none the less it was good. Should give it a try.
Open late and always welcoming.
The food is really good, it's a little bit expensive in the end. The service varies, they can be a little curt sometimes when talking to you, or take a long time to prepare something. They messed up our order and added egg when we said no egg. We like this place
Teq leaf Salad is the best
I had pineapple red thai curry and rice. The food was really delicious.
Authentic and lip smacking thai/asian food. Have had thai red/green curries as well as the Malaysian curry here and keep coming back for more.
Decent thai food. Tried the vegetarian options a few times. The fresh spring roll is good, the red curry was good but a little oily. The same with the spicy basil fried rice which was also oily.
Food was good and first time tried Thai cuisine, many items were really good, please try spring rolls it was very yummy. The restaurant staffs are polite and served us fast. I will recommend this place to anyone. All the best Tommy Thai..
I have only dined inside once. The food has been great every time I have ordered it to go! I was happy with the portion sizes compared to similar restaurants, which seem smaller. Their Pad Thai comes with tofu, even if you order the meat option. I ordered beef Pad Thai and it came with beef AND tofu. Something to be aware of if you are not a tofu fan.
I was very disappointed with the food. I have eaten pad Thai, fresh rolls, and tom kha soup at countless Thai restaurants in the US and beyond. This may have been the worst experience I've had with all three of those things. Not only were the ingredients strange and it tasted bad, I had an upset stomach from it as well. I was looking for a less expensive Thai restaurant since my favorite one recently raised its prices, but I guess you get what you pay for.
After getting hit by covid on the way back from Miami, Tom kha soup really hit the spot! This is our favorite Thai place and it helps that it's within walking distance. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Love the currys but I always make my own rice at home. Also the appetizers! To complement my soup I got the tea leaf salad as well.
Super convenient and fast. call to order and pay upon pickup.
I made a reservation and went there but there was a power outage. They failed to let me know which would have saved me a trip from San Carlos and prevented a fender bender incident in the dark parking lot.
Huge portions for good price
Pretty meh all around.
Very nice people here … owners and staff. Friendly and humble. Cozy and warm with plenty of heat in winter to enjoy food without being cold. I loved my Cambodian dish Salau Machu Ktis ($17) which is vegetarian that has pineapple, carrots, zucchini, baby corn, mushroom, ma-am, kefir lime, lemongrass, broccoli, coconut milk, and tofu. It was a very generous serving and I was full after eating half of it without rice (which is extra) and had the rest to take home. The ambience is warm and quiet and with no music blaring. I love the quiet and was able to enjoy watching or listening to something on my cell phone. It’s nice they have both Thai and Cambodian food. Parking is easy as they have a lot.
