The fried rice actually had a good flavor, and it wasn’t bland! ^-^ The pad see ew had good flavor to it too, and it was a pretty big portion! The pho broth also was nice too! Our server was great, and maybe I’ll come here more often!

I’ve gotten take out twice from here and it’s been good both times. This time we got the pad see ew, kra pao fried rice, and calamari rings.

The calamari rings were different from what I would normally expect, but we liked it! The batter wasn’t too oily or heavy and had a great crunch. Kra pao fried rice was tasty, but I did wish they added more basil. Pad see ew was pretty good too.

Overall, I’d keep coming here.

The fried rice was flavorless to the point where you have to add all the sauces provided on the table to give it flavor. The pad Thai level spice four tasted like palm sugar. Pad Thai tasted like literal noodles covered in sugar glaze. It tasted like I was taking licks from the palm sugar straight from the bag. The waitress was very nice and the half atmosphere is what makes the place plus the plate presentation.

The papaya salad was delicious and just the right amount of spicy. Be warned though they put a lot of cabbage at the bottom so you don't get as much papaya salad. The crispy tofu I liked but I wish they didn't drown it in sauce. I prefer that sauce on the side so you don't lose the crispy texture. The crispy pork belly was overly dry and overcooked. It was very hard to eat. My favorite dish is the panang. Perfect ratio of coconut to spice.

My new favorite place in town. The food is delicious. They taste better than they look and they have the best shrimp in a blanket. So far, I've only had good experiences here. They cater to my requests and frequently check up on us. This place is really a hidden gem. Kinda don't want people to know so it doesn't get crowded but my friends kept on asking where I'm eating these food at so I had to share the place.

Broth itself is good but after mixing, other sauces over power the broth. Noodle is on the smaller portion but there are more protein so that made up for it. Good portion for the price. 2 order and a thai tea for around $30 after tax. Restroom is also clean too. Love it.

The food tastes good but for some reason this place after eating makes my stomach hurt so bad. Never have this issue with any other Thai food places.

It's one of my favorite restaurants to eat Pad Thai and fresh spring rolls with best dipping sauce.

5 of us were there for dinner. The person taking the order, came to our table, sat down and put his head on the table and asked what we wanted.
Nothing came out as ordered.
I ordered a number 33 to take home. The online menu 33 is Pad See Ew.
What we got was rice and chicken with some bones. It was pasty, looked nasty and tasted as bad.
When we told them they said the online menu was different than the inside menu. The said people get the wrong order all the time, like it is not a problem.
These people should not be in the food industry. They act like they don't care!!!

The coconut Cafe is a very opened place to eat. Not crowded.. Their Orange Chicken is very soft and has a light crunch to it with the flavor just right.

Super disappointed and probably won't go back. It's really sad that when dining in I get more rice, a bigger salad and 2 pork chops. I ordered for pick up today for dinner and I barely got a half cup of rice with a over cooked egg. A 3 oz ramekin of cucumbers, no lettuce at all for the so called "side salad" and 1 pork chop for the same price i wouldve paid for dine in. The prices posted on the menu from Google the prices are wrong.

This is my new favorite Asian cuisine restaurant. So far I've only had 5 items from the menu, in 4 visits, but every thing is delicious. Highly recommend.

The best combination pho I've ever had. ( better than mr. pho restaurant chain).
Delicious chicken Chow mein, House salad is special, egg rolls are the best, spring rolls are good, fried prawns are amazing, pineapple rice is my wife's favorite.

Ordered half duck! And this is what I get?. Legitimately 6 pieces!. This is definately NOT half duck, of all thai restaurants in merced coconut cafe serves the worst portion can't believe I paid $20 for this crap. I'm so disappointed! this restaurant no longer earns my support. Zero stars if I could! The duck sauce is a joke! Look at what they gave me. What a rip off. Smh

It was my first time there and my first time trying pho, workers looked and gossiped about me and my partner there. They skipped over our table and not once came. Food was amazing but service is horrible.

The food is pretty good! But I have to say my experience about doing a call in ~ I always like to call ahead when getting food for my family since their work is on a tight schedule. I call and was told to hold for a couple of minutes, which I get because sometimes people are busy. But they left me on hold for 15 minutes xD and I already got here, so now I’m just writing this as I wait another 20 minutes for my food. Again, food is great! 10:/10 but just be sure to call again if it’s been past 5 minuets haha, apparently the phone line dropped on their end and not my end, I guess.

They have a reasonably varied menu, including both Thai restaurant standards plus some less common ones. Lots of options Everything we ordered was tasty and enjoyable. Of special note the shrimp in blankets appetizer. The fresh spring rolls and dipping sauce. In fact, their appetizers are so good my husband just ordered apps for his whole meal.

Super dirty ac intake was just covered in Deep dirt Everything had dirt on it. Cobwebs 6ft long hanging from ceiling.

I previously did a review about a year ago; I needed to update it as the place has gone down hill. The food is inconsistent, it's hard to get through on the phone and the service has become trash. They used to be so friendly and caring, idk what happened or what is different now. Tonight I ordered food for my family. My son went to pick it up and when he got home it was the wrong food. They told me if I wanted my order I'd have to keep what we have and come back to pay for the correct order. That doesn't even make sense. We couldn't even eat the food that we had possession of. Make it make sense; lose a long time customer and waster or give away such a large order. They bc outpace taken the food back and thrown it away or applied the cost of that food towards ours. We used to go 2-3 times per month, now we go every few months because the food and service changed. Now we won't ever return. Rude! Rude! Rude!

I love to order from here when Im craving fried pork belly, papaya salad, and sticky rice. The food hits just right. Their service here is good, and the waiters and waitresses are friendly. Prices are not bad, affordable. Its a great plave to get Thai food especially on this side of town.

Pho broth was tasteless. Broth was not made properly—nothing more than salty water. Def not cooked as bone broth should be. Super disappointed. I understand that it is a Thai restaurant and I should have ordered better and stuck to the Thai curries. Pho should no be on the menu as it shortchanges the Vietnamese cultural dish from its original amazingness.

Portions are very small. Service is limited and cannot be attentive beyond taking the order, delivering food and printing the check.

I work out at the gym in the plaza, so I go to coconut cafe after my workouts, it’s amazing! I order the chicken pho & sometimes invite my grandma, which we’re able to split one bowl. The staff are very attentive & helpful.

Coconut Cafe is one of my FAVORITE Thai places in Merced!! The Pad Thai and sweet mango rice is my go-to for dinner and dessert. Both are shareable portions (I can only finish half of each). Highly recommend~

Best pad thai in town! Portion is great, me and my wife share one plate all the time and will get full. Yeaaa staff are not super talkative and bubbly but I'm not here to talk, I'm here to eat. And they are attentive and do smile and very accommodating when they do mess something up. (Not saying they mess up all the time.) Definitely check out this spot.

Very good food. The service on the other hand… not so much. Unfriendly, and inattentive staff. Our food also took very long to arrive. Pho usually doesn’t take 30 minutes to come out. With that being said, I would return and just hope the staff is more attentive.

Excellent place!!!!! Authentic Thai flavors and I liked the setting it was comfortable 😋 I got seafood pho broth was excellent and seafood was fresh. Aldo got shrimp salad spice and taste was amazing. I also got pork belly but it was to over cooked the crunch was that of 3 day old pork rinds it was way to crunchy .

Ordered the Korean BBQ based on a pic that they posted on Instagram. It was described as charbroiled. The char was inconsistent. Only 1 piece was charbroiled the other pieces were pale and appeared to be not fully cooked. The salad that it came with in the picture was a full salad, and my salad consisted of a couple of pieces of cucumber and a few shredded carrots. I did enjoy the sticky rice!

Horrible customer service, my husband and I drove 25 minutes to eat at this restaurant. We went inside and waited 5 minutes for the lady at the counter because a person needed to pay. She then said we’re only doing take out orders and it was 7:55pm when she said this but it’s advertised the restaurant closes @ 8:30pm, keep in mind it’s on a Friday night.And then we said “well there’s over 40 people here and half of them are not served”. It’s just me and my husband. We already told them we drove 25minutes so we are not getting take out can you just serve us. The person in charge said “the kitchen said no” but isn’t the kitchen the ones cooking the food? Then we asked for the manager or owner and they said they do no give out that information. We mentioned we were going to leave a bad review and the lady said “fine then do so”. Hours are hours we got there 40 minutes before the restaurant closes and we’re only two people . None of this makes sense, your employees just don’t want to work. I would’ve given 0 stars but I couldn’t.

It was ok. The server needed to be friendlier, she got the orders wrong, the food was marginal but palatable, and the music was so loud we were yelling so.we could hear each other. It wasn’t a nice relaxing meal like we wanted. It was Friday; maybe with more servers, it would have been better.

Went to Coconut Cafe with my best friend who has numerous food allergies. The chef came out and discussed a meal she could prepare for her. The meals and service were excellent.

We had the worst larb ever at this Coconut Cafe. They thought I ordered raw larb, so they mixed it raw. Then they realized that it was supposed to be well-done larb. They fried the dish to make it look like it was well-done. All the seasonings were mixed with it and fried. It became fried beef and tasted horrible. It tasted nothing like well-done larb. My kids got their orders, but they missed my wife's order. We had the worst experience at this place. That was our first and will be our last time eating there.

Great local Cafe for Thai style food

I finally got a chance to try this place. It was delicious! I had a vegetable stir-fry lunch with shrimp and a side of sticky rice. Excellent! My friend had the yellow curry dish with duck breast. 😋 The place was very clean and the staff was wonderful. I will definitely be back.

Food was not great.
Pork chop was bland, burnt and overcooked. You can taste the burnt lemongrass on the pork chop. The egg was also overcooked. There was no cucumber in the cucumber salad.
Thai beef salad was disappointing, beef was overcooked and chewy. I asked for spicy level 7, and it was mild ar best. The beef slice was also bland.
Only good thing was the sauce for the salad and the Thai tea.

Just went there for dinner, asked for the last booth and was refused. There was one table which we were seated at. The hostess didn't seat the single gentleman before us so we were forced to give up our table. I was extremely hungry and pregnant....will NEVER go back there again. They are rude and unprofessional. Beware, it's dark in there too...bot inviting at all.

Excellent pho and roasted duck here. The duck tasted really good, which might be the best one I have even had in US. The Thai tea was great as well. The candy after dinner was really surprising to me. 宏源 is a very authentic brand of Guangdong China. Interesting that they have this. Good for Merced.

This is the newest Thai restaurant in Merced. I fallow the chef not the restaurant when I look for great food. This chef named mom has been recruited by every Thai restaurant in Merced to get them going and train the cooks. She is the best and she is here now. I can guarantee you will be amazed by her skills. Come see for yourself. She has been feeding me for 25 yrs and I challenge you to find an Asian chef that can beat her. My bet is you don't. See for yourself and let me know if you find better. Again I bet you don't.

Generous portions. The panang salmon was great. The pineapple rice was out of this world. Please change your cleaning products. The smell from the spray wrecked havoc on the magnificent meal coming out of your kitchen.

It's nice to have a new restaurant in town! I've been there once and would definitely go back. The food was excellent, very fresh and hot, with a lot of interesting flavors. My only criticism would be that our dishes didn't come out all at the same time...they were pretty spaced out. We were eating family style (sharing dishes), but if a group were eating entree-style, that would be pretty annoying to have some practically done (or having to wait) while someone else was still waiting to be served.

Read the reviews and decided to try it out today. I love eatting pho from different restaurantes, but this pho didnt hit the spot. So im only basing this off the pho lol. The area is very nice and clean also really quiet compared to other pho spot. So any pho person out there, i wouldn't recommend this spot for "pho" but other then that 3 star!

What a fantastic Thai restaurant there are a lot of Thai restaurants in this town which are pretty good. I believe Coconut Cafe takes the cake in my opinion the best for your fine dining experience.

Ordered some Tom yum soup and yellow curry to go. Order was ready within 15 minutes. Not gonna lie, I was not expecting such delicious food! Merced just didn't strike me as a Thai cuisine kinda place.

If you're hungover and need a quick cure, I highly recommend this spot! The staff was super nice as well! My only warning would be that the food is prepared very (temperature) hot, practically boiling. It took a long time for the soup to cool down to be able to eat it.

The food here was very good! I ordered the red curry chicken and the shrimp pad thai. They were both very flavorful. I also ordered blended thai tea to drink and it was excellent. My husband ordered the mongolian beef and he loved it as well.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was excellent. I ordered Mongolian beef, which was very flavorful, though not at all spicy like Mongolian beef is usually supposed to be. The egg rolls were excellent. Wife loved her Pad Thai and her Red Curry. Definitely going on our list of places to revisit. 👍🏻

Food was delicious, but there was quite a wait. They are short-staffed like all other restaurants in town.

Not a good experience. 20 minutes wait was prolonged to an hour, while I was waiting other costumers came in and were served. My order was a take out, that could be fun reason but my money and time is as valuable as others as well.

I've only tried it once as it's brand new so I don't know it well enough to rate it higher. Service was nice, food didn't take long and tasted good. There's a nice variety of desserts and Asian drinks as well.

A very nice thai, southeast Asian restaurant in Merced. The food was quite good, service very friendly and the facilities were clean and spotless. A hidden treasure to most Mercedians I suspect.

I must say I’m very disappointed in the portions at this place. Two adults and one 10-year-old child, three dishes, $50 later and we’re all still hungry. The three entrées we got were so small it wouldn’t have been enough to feed one person. The chowmein dish literally was so small, ridiculous portion for the price. The cucumber salad was more like thin strips of cucumber that was soggy, Inedible quite honestly. The asparagus was tiny and looked like a side dish, not an entree. I suggest to look elsewhere. The flavor was good, but like I said again, the portions were very, VERY small!
