This cozy bistro creates vegetarian & vegan interpretations of classic Thai curries & spring rolls.
This was some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten! The restaurant is very small and unassuming, but the flavors pack with the punch!!! First, it’s all vegetarian with lots and lots of vegan options! The service was extremely speedy. And the food hit all the high notes! Highly recommend this place. The only downside is that the dining room is kind of small. We were lucky to get a table. But boy oh boy this was one of the best places we ate at during our stay in Los Angeles!! The drunken noodles slapped!
One of the best vegan Thai restaurants in Los Angeles!
My Satay with peanut sauce was delicious!
One of the best I've tried in Los Angeles;
I also ordered a side of sticky rice, since it helps control the spice level for me.
The staff here is WONDERFUL!!
Extremely helpful and they go out of their way to ensure a wonderful experience!
I highly recommend Bulan Thai for a vegetarian Thai food dinner!
I can't recommend this place more!
FANTASTIC FAST AND EASY SERVICE!
Food arrived promptly and it was delicious!
I love how it's centrally located around all the fun spots in Silverlake and Echo Park!
Great to grab a quick bite before heading out to The Eagle or AKBAR.
Very yummy Thai food… reminds me of my home (Portland, Oregon’s) Kati Thai, also an all veg (nearly 100% vegan) Thai spot that is beloved by the community. I had steamed dumplings (fantastic!) and vegan pad see ew with tofu (yummy!). My server was absolutely friendly and even offered to give me extra ice tea to go for the road. Class act. Thanks!
Excellent vegan/vegetarian Thai food. We were able to try new dishes that otherwise aren't options to us at regular Thai restaurants. I was very impressed with the inferno chicken, which was uniquely flavorful. They had an option for mango sticky rice with forbidden rice, which has more fiber and antioxidant content than the usual white rice. Prices were very reasonable, especially in contrast to the popular place across the street. Service was so friendly. Highly recommend! I would love to return whenever we are in the area so we can try more of their food.
Best Thai food in L.A hands down. No contest. All vegan but anyone would appreciate and love this food. Are able to accommodate to gf customers. Left happy and satisfied and can’t wait to come back.
Joy was my server and was and absolute delight. She gives amazing service and is very attentive.
Will 100% be a returning customer and can’t recommend enough. Can’t wait to explore more of the menu.
I got the green curry fried rice, and summer rolls. As you can see i destroyed the summer rolls before even getting a picture.
This is a great food spot for vegans, vegetarians and people who just love Thai food. My sister is a vegetarian and I chose this place place for her but I think I liked it just as much as she did. The waitress was great, giving us all our options and answering questions. We were greeted immediately and the food came out quick and hot. The only negative is the parking but it's no worse than any other parking situation in that area or LA in general. There wasn't anything special about the decor that I remember but there was plenty of people watching from the large window we sat by. I will definitely be back.

Our Los Angeles favorite. Can't beat it!
The only thing that would make Bulan better is if they were fully vegan!

This has been one of my favorite Asian restaurants in LA!! The food is exceptionally delicious and flavorful!! The staff is super friendly and the portions were huge!! Not to forget that the quality is really up to standards!!
Highly recommended!
As a customer, I’m horrified by the way these people treat delivery drivers. I overheard one driver asking to use the restroom due to an emergency. The waitress refused to let them use it citing that the restroom was only for customers despite the fact that they were delivering food FOR their customers. Such inhumane treatment of workers trying to make an honest living is frankly despicable and disgraceful. The owner of this establishment should be ashamed of themselves.
Seriously, this is far the best vegan Thai outside of Thailand. Great staff, great service. My goal is try their entire menu. I have brought a lot of non vegans to this place and it always shines through.
Don’t hesitate to bring your family and friends. It’s seriously fantastic.
I do want to add that to access the restroom, you have to walk a few stairs. Keep that in mind.
10/10 !

Great service! Highly recommand!
Unprofessional service
Amazing Chilli Chicken , fantastic curry. Get the Mee Krob hard to find vegan dish. Street parking only across Erowon
I love this place so much. The food is delicious and comforting and the people are so kind.

Very good vegan options. The mango sticky rice was amazing.
Food was SO good. Everything can be vegan ☺️
This is such a great place! The hot wings are really good, it's crispy and has great texture! Everything was honestly so so good, we got the tom yum, pad see ew with soy duck, hot wings, and mango sticky rice!
They also really cater really well to both vegan and vegetarian diets.
What a delicious vegetarian spot Bulan Thai is! My daughter and I went here and love our dishes. So tasty and delicious. We will definitely be back!

I have visited this restaurant numerous times and absolutely love it. As a fan of Thai cuisine, I’m thrilled that they offer vegan Thai food. How wonderful is that? Sometimes I go alone to enjoy some me-time, and other times I bring my friends along. I highly recommend their Panang curry, hot wings, papaya salad, and grilled dumplings. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and you can really taste the quality.
The only downside is that there's no parking available. However, I always manage to find a spot behind the neighborhood. Just be sure to check the signs to avoid restricted times.
Fabulous food, friendly but unobtrusive service, cheerful atmosphere. Nothing fancy but a lovely neighborhood spot.
A few times over the years, I've eaten at Bulan, which has an expansive Thai menu and among the zillion or so Thai restaurants in L.A., is one of the best. The other night, I ordered Garlic Noodles, which arrives in a bowl with the noodles, tofu, beans sprouts, broccoli, etc. separate and you mix it up like Korean bibimbap, the garlicky sauce, the whole thing was delectable. It's on Santa Monica Boulevard across from a busy Erewhon with restrictive parking in the neighborhood adjacent, so you may find yourself dashing across the street to get here, but it's worth it.
BULAN THAI V.K. is a nice little corner Thai restaurant that serve tasty food. It is located on Santa Monica blvd and Manzanita St in Silver Lake neighborhood of LA.
Indoor vibe and design were relaxing and contemporaneously infused with Thai culture. Their menu has a modest food/drink items and competitively priced. Moreover, the entree food portion (e.g., noodles) match the price. We came here to grab lunch and had a Pad Woon Sen (VG), a glass noodle with vegetables and egg; and Spring rolls. Both food items were good.
Service was on point. Staff were amiable and professional. Finding parking in the area can be challenging. Overall, this we had a delightful dine-in experience and enjoyed our healthy meal. I recommend this Thai spot.
Ordered food from here. Curry doesn't come with rice, which I've never seen before in all the Thai places I've ordered from. Also didn't include utensils.
The food was delicious and the waitstaff very kind and patient (it took us a while to order because so many things looked so good!). Thanks!
Omg it’s literally the BEST!!!!!
Delicious vegetarian Thai. Everything we had was fresh and flavorful. Had the empanadas, lettuce wraps, and squash curry. Would absolutely come back for exactly the same meal.
The best Thai vegan restaurant.
They use real ingredients.
Get the fish!
Good place for vegetarians. Parking might be an issue but worth the effort!
Had the mock duck curry. Unbelievably good. Highly recommend.
Bulan is by FAR My All Time Favorite Place to EAT when I’m in LA🍲🌶️🎎 The food is Outstanding and Always on Par! I Highly recommend the Inferno Chicken, Yellow Curry w/chicken, and if you L🥜VE Peanut Sauce Definitely TRY “Under the Specials Dishes” Sizzling Pra Ram Also love the Hot Wings as an Appetizer! We Love You Bulan!
We Will Always Be BACK & Always Recommend You! 🫶🏼😋
I have tried couple of things here and everything is so amazing. They have the best Tom yum soup in LA.
Consistently my favorite Thai food in la (and I’m a carnivore)
So damn good. Love the place. Haven’t had a single bad dish.
Pad Thai: taking off one star for this. They have a tamarind-based sauce, but the overall flavor and prep were totally lacking. Dry as a bone, stuck together, and flavorless. Pretty much just tastes like tamarind paste. Skip it.
Beef and broccoli: very tasty, good garlicky flavor
Iced mint tea: almost flavorless. Would not reorder.
Service: fast and excellent
Vegan paradise for authentic Thai food.
Such tasty vegan dishes, everything was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. 10/10
Great food
My go-to for takeout in Silverlake. Always tasty, fresh, and ready so quickly! It's hard for me to stray from my favorites - green curry roti, busaba pumpkin,, garlic (flat/wide) noodles - But everything I've tasted is pretty delicious. I'm not a vegetarian but I appreciate having an on meat Thai meal sometimes and the faux meets are not unsatisfying. I usually choose the faux chicken. Also, even though the overall atmosphere isn't super fantastic for dining, I love this lamp hanging above the cash register. 😁
Little place with the most delicious food. This is our favorite Thai place that offers gluten free options. We always get the papaya salad spicy, eggplant salad, -and veggies and tofu. Outside of the gluten free menu are their absolutely delicious wings. These are a must have if you are visiting the restaurant. None of their vegan meat products are gluten free though so unfortunately i can’t have them anymore 😞. If you’re gluten free, just ask them and they can make almost any dish you want gluten free (without plant based meat). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I promise you’ll love it!
Every time I come here the service so great and good is tasty. This time the ice cream was still frozen 🥶 instead of creamy but otherwise everything was excellent as usual. I ordered spicy and still used hot sauce they are very clear that they prepare mild on purpose so as not to overwhelm if you want it spicy ask!
Absolute gem in my neighborhood -- everything is so fresh and tasty
Update: This is my 7th time here and I don’t know what I do would do in LA without this piece of heaven. I swear angels work in the kitchen here 😆
Woah! Trust me when I tell you THIS is the place! My new favorite Thai restaurant in LA. Great from start to finish.
Everything we ordered was delicious from start to finish, generous portions, and I will definitely be back for all the food I didn’t get to this time 😆
It’s the vegan wings for me.
Hits every time.
My favorite Thai food in the neighborhood
Very good Thai restaurant. Highly recommended if you're near downtown LA area looking for Thai food.
you must visit this place when in California.
The food was bland. The PadThai had too much sugar in it. Thr fake fish soup lacked flavor and was boring.
One of my favorite restaurants in LA! The food always hits!! It’s just too good you have to try it for yourself. Nothing is disappointing, each item on the menu is unique and mouthwatering.
Great food at a clean neat corner lot. Wonderful taste in every dishes 👍
A hidden gem not to miss
Did take away for their veggie chicken fried rice which is actually vegan! And chicken is replaced with soy chuck preparation. The flavor profile and spice setting was optimally blended for overall palette. Pricing at par with other Thai restaurants, which is getting expensive generally and quantity is also at par with other Thai joints.
Great for plant-based, especially since it still tasted authentically Thai. Service was quick and very accommodating. Tried the hot wings and orange chicken — highly recommend! Side street parking only so be prepared.
Delicious noodles and amazing vegan options. Great for allergies too
Absolutely amazing food and outstanding service. I am not a vegetarian.
Best Thai vegan ice ever had. Been coming here for years and still drive from Santa Monica because it's so good!!
Orange chicken made me ill, probably from all the grease.
Their volcano vegan chicken was awesome. The Thai ice tea was good as well, all the rest of my food was just average....nothing extraordinary.
This is one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants in LA. Everything I've tried is delicious. I usually order the Pla Plad Prik (crispy fish with eggplant and peppers in red curry sauce), Kow Soi (love the crispy noodles), or a curry. For appetizer the hot wings and corn fritters always satisfy. I generally don't like meat substitutes, but the ones here are grade A. I prefer take-out, but there is ample dine-in in seating. Service is extremely helpful and friendly.
Very good deserts.
Crispy rice and asparagus were fantastic, and our four year old put away almost a whole plate of pad see ew.
Had such high hopes. The old menu was a classic kitchen disasters profile: everything likely went from frozen into the fryer. New menu is baby food. The eggplants are peeled, no fiber. Clearly adapted to SAD. Which is sad.
Great service and food
Hot wings
Green curry w roti
Inferno chicken
Seaweed rolls!!
Very good Thai food. Service is also excellent. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommend you try this place if you are in town and are craving Thai food
The best Thai vegan
Really good food. Will definitely be coming back if I'm in the area
Good food
Good vibes
Good people
Made a reservation for date night on a Friday and had a great time! We got the veggie chicken and veggie duck and we’re happily surprised at how great it tasted. The service was lovely and our waitress gave us great recommendations. Definitely recommend eating here if you’re vegan!
The food, service, and value are incredible; 10 out of 10. We enjoyed the spring rolls, vegetarian fried rice, and Pad Kee Mao.
Loved the food. All the dishes were great and the service was fast as well. Definitely recommend.
I ordered delivery. Sometimes when food is delivered it can arrive quite underwhelming, but I am now happy and full! I ordered the hot wings, grilled dumplings, and green curry with roti. And I have leftovers. :D The curry was delicious! I'd go back for it for sure.
Best spot for vegan Thai food.
Try their inferno chicken in the specials menu, it's really nice.
This was one of the first vegan places in LA to have vegan shrimp as a protein option. It's a great option if you're tired of soy based proteins.
great vegan Thai food options
All the stars! Phenomenal food. We got the steamed dumplings for appetizer and, although small portion, they were incredible! Sauce too! For main course we ordered the orange chicken and drunken noodles. Orange chicken was out of this world! Perfectly fried...I honestly don't think I've ever had anything perfectly fried, thinking back now, after having that. The sauce, amazing with candied orange peel! Drunken noodles seasoned and spiced perfect. Zero excess oil on the plate. Every vegetable on the plate was cooked to perfection. What more is there to say?..Do yourself a favor and go here.
The server was sweet and very attentive! The food came quick and was very delicious. A great portion for the price. Will definitely be coming back!
If i could give 10 stars I would. Best veg Thai food, even better than Thailand. Have been eating here since Nat opened on Melrose and I bring everyone who visits LA here. Try green curry and shrimp, Som Tum, Thom Kha soup, Seaweed rolls and of course the drunken noodles.
Staff is wonderful, food is wonderful. Thank you!
Such sweet and attentive staff! The orange chicken is my personal favorite at the banana “egg roll” dessert and mango sticky rice desserts are my favorite!! My 4th visit (once as delivery) and just as great as all the others!
Nice food
You won't regret it. I eat here often and you'll find me shoving heaping chopsticks full of food in my mouth. Absolute best, their vegan dishes are top tier. I suggest their Hot Wings(1-2 person per order) for a starter and Eggplant Lovers (2-3 persons) with Coconut Rice (1-2 persons) for a main dish. Beverage, iced Thai Tea. Everything is made fresh per order.
This place has definitely the best vegan Thai cosine in the Los Angeles area. Our family and I really love all the items we had ordered. Please when you are in the Los Angeles area you must try this amazing food. The service is great as well
GREAT JOB BULAN
We love your food
We had the most wonderful meal here! Two veggies and two carnivores. We shared a selection of dishes which were completely devoured and enjoyed by all. Staff wonderful. Place was buzzing even on a Thursday evening Cannot recommend highly enough! 🤤
Pad thai was delicious ~ the duck was good addition but really does not need!
There should of been more peanuts. Forget the carrots and please add limes at least 2 per order if you want authentic!! Mango sticky rice excellent! Thai tea was perfect! Tom yum was good not great, and coconut rice seemed under cooked.
Khap khun kha🙏🏼✨
The delivery guy was sweet, kind and caring
Orange chicken is so good. The sauce is fresh and light, sweet and very orangey. I have been coming for years and the quality is consistent. The staff are always kind and courteous. Satay is great. Curries are wonderful. My friends that eat meat can't tell the difference.
This is hands down the best Thai food I’ve had in LA, or anywhere in the metro area. Everything I’ve had was good, but I definitely recommend the appetizer tofu with a side of coconut rice. I’d eat here every day if I could afford it!
Better vegan thai than I ever knew existed. Get the inferno chicken and anything that comes with their exceptionally good roti. Super friendly staff and quick service, entirely unfussy and casual, and just phenomenal food.
THAI FOOD x VEGGIE
Immerse in amazing veggie concept and authentic Thai hospitality at Bulan with NO meat • NO m.s.g. • NO trans fats !!
They serve such wonderful Thai dishes that uses delicious imitated meat and fresh vegetables. I didn’t feel like lacking meat in any dish at all so if you’re a meat eater then rest assure.
Some wholesome recommendations below
——————∞——————
Hot wings: Tender wings in hot sauce, super tender that I cried with tears of joy
Inferno chicken: SPICY & sweet, fried with crispy basil
Khao soi: Famous Northern Thai dish but deliciously made the veggie way
Khao man gai: MY FAV ITEM OF THE DAY - it feels like real chicken rice (gai = chicken)
Pla pad prik: OMG this was like real fish (pla = fish) and I LOVE the eggplants here so much
Thai tea: Choose your alternate milk and enjoy fantastic Thai tea
——————∞——————
Parking: Don’t go up Manzanita St behind the restaurant because it’s permit parking only. Instead, turn left downhill onto Gateway Ave and you can find plenty of FREE street parking there.
I've been vegan/vegetarian for most of my life and I can say that this was the best veggie chicken I've ever had. I highly recommend the Orange Chicken! We are definitely coming back here more!
It's too crowded and busy. It took 40 minutes to get a table and they looked upset and bothered when we finally were called in to get a table, we literally only had 20 minutes to eat and they kept on standing there and looking over to kinda hurry it up... Food is great, but its better to order and pick it up yourself.
Great flavours, especially love the vegan orange chicken and the Thai basil.
The place is quite small but service is good and quick turnaround.
No restroom when we visited.
Can't say anything about their whole menu, but I keep finding myself driving for their vegan hot wings thru the town anytime every time.. and I'm not even vegan nor vegetarian. 🤷🏼♀️ Go figure! One thing, I'm praying for.. please, don't discontinue and don't change the original recipe. Bulan, your Wings are the best!!!!! Love! 🧡
Phenomenal vegetarian thai. The khao soy (Northern Thai) is out of sight. Curries are strong. Noodles sometimes don't hold up for delivery/take out.
Not as good as it used to be.
The food was really lacking flavor and I'm not sure it matched up with the hype...
BEST THAI FOOD EVER.
I legit will drive an hour+ to eat here. I’m vegan and am OBSESSED. Lovely & FAST service too.
I am a vegetarian - so I had to try this. Food was flavorful. Parking can be tough. From the pictures I expected a larger seating/dining are - but it turned out to be quite small.
Definitely a place to try for great food!
Loved the yellow curry and drunken noodles with beef! Best vegan thai that ive had so far
Really nice vegetarian Thai place with an unusually big menu & good service. You can choose the protein for most dishes, which is great!
Got the Tam Khanun appetizer to share - an interesting new dish for us, however, the chili flakes are so spicy that they basically knock out all the other flavors.
Amazing Mushroom Tom Kah (asked for mild spicy) & Pad Kee Mao "Drunken Noodles" with soy duck (taste is pretty close to real duck, texture is pretty different but that doesn't matter)!
My wife got Vegetable Tom Yum & Pad Woon Sen with soy chicken, which both her & I also liked
My friend and I go here every week - sometimes more than once! Sweetest staff, great location, and I usually try to try something new every time and am always impressed :)
Amazing vegan Thai food. Love this place
Excellent service excellent food.
Some of the best vegan and vegetarian food in LA, hands down.
Do yourself a favor and come here. I swear on all that I love, you will love it. Jesus if I lived closer I would be eating that sweet rice and mango daily. EVERYTHING is so delicious you will want to cry. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations.
this place is the best
The food was good. The staff was friendly, quick, and efficient. Seating was limited which I personally prefer during these times of COVID. They had cute little outdoor patio tables with a beautiful view of the Erewhon across the street. Seriously though, the food here is better than anything you can find at Erewhon and half as expensive. The veggie duck was great.
Always good to eat here!
Lots of vegan options, but not much parking and prices have gone up
Great place, fast, amazing vegetarian wings, highly recommended!
The orange chicken thooooo 🤤
Best Thai foodI have ever had!
A-MA-ZING.
This is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Also, the service is top notch. Great prices too.
Absolutely my favorite restaurant in the whole wide world! Bomb! First time to this place and my Lady friend and I ordered the: Crispy fish & Eggplant red curry dish, the brown fried rice with spinach and chicken, mixed vegetables with steak and the jungle curry with duck! Everything was so good and so amazing, like when you order an item if it doesn't specifically have the meat with it, you can order whatever meat that you want; and again everything is vegetarian! I'm 44 my lady friend is much older but we came here as we are health conscious as well as vegetarian. So amazing thank you.
Amazing vegan place
It's a vibe! Yummy eats!
I'm not vegan and this spot was fantastic. Do recommend. You can dine in by appointment.
Excellent service. Tasty food.
Delicious and nutritious
I felt like i was in japan
Very nice building
Look so modern and eastern
My son and daughter-in-law relocated to Los Feliz are highly recommended Bulan for all vegetarian and Thai food lovers. I plan to visit myself in September 🙌
This is the best delivery food I’ve ever had! Excited to try it dining in too! 😋
Beyond impressive! I’ve had this restaurant on my “want to go list” for a long time. Glad to be in LA and able to eat here.
Sitting on the porch, we instantly felt comfortable. Nat the owner was very warm and helpful. She suggested a few dishes that were great! We will return.
Not a vegan but I am a fan of vegan food. I've been feeling under the weather, was craving pho, and tried their 'chicken' pho. It was delicious! Warm, spicy, hearty, lots of veggies, I chowed down and it probably added a year back to my life. The noodles are thicker than your average pho noodles but I was into it. Also their hot 'wings' are incredible, they even have a wood 'bone' in it.
This place is low-key and cozy. The food is amazing authentic Thai. Very friendly and welcoming staff . Great to dine with family and friends
Reasonably priced. The orange chicken and chicken satai are both very good. I like how they serve coconut water.
Super duper!
Best Thai food I've ever eaten! 😍🏆I experienced flavors I've never tasted before. Outstanding!
Small and nice vegetarian and non vegetarian restaurant great food
Love this place! Always quick and very tasty!
