Newly transformed to a Vegan Thai restaurant in Fresno!
Wow! Vegan Thai food! I had a hard time choosing from all the amazing options on their menu. I got the yellow curry with “chicken” and it was amazing. My partner had Mongolian “beef” and loved it.
This place has a new name since it changed to an all vegan menu. It’s probably a good decision to rebrand, reading how vicious non-vegans are in these reviews. This place is amazing and the service was lovely.
**The Thai Royal Orchid: A Must-Try for Vegan Thai Food Lovers**
If you're a fan of Thai food or vegan food, or both, then you need to check out The Thai Royal Orchid restaurant. This all-vegan eatery offers a wide variety of delicious and authentic Thai dishes, all made with fresh, plant-based ingredients.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Thai Royal Orchid, and I was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. I started with the fried vegan shrimp which is absolutely my favorite dish. I also love the vegan egg rolls. The Pad Thai was delicious, the tofu was crispy and flavorful, and the sauce was rich and satisfying.
In addition to the delicious food, The Thai Royal Orchid also offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they're always happy to help you choose the perfect dish.
I highly recommend the Thai Royal Orchid to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic vegan Thai dining experience. The food is excellent, the service is outstanding, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.
I especially appreciate the Thai Royal Orchid's commitment to veganism. It's great to see a restaurant that is so passionate about providing delicious and plant-based food to its customers. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic vegan Thai dining experience.
I love this place and kudos to the owner for following her heart and creating an authentic Vegan restaurant. Everything is absolutely delicious and made with love. I visit 2x / week and will tell everyone how excellent the food is. The restaurant is lovely also, with a peaceful ambience and ample space if you are having a larger group. Please give them a try. You won't regret it!
I came here for the very first time last night and I wish I had known about this place years ago, as the food was amazing! It is now 100% vegan, and I believe they are changing their name to Buatong Thai Vegan. I had the yellow chickn curry with rice and veggies. It was so good! Especially on a cold night, the curry was warm a bit spicy but nothing overwhelming. I don't eat a lot of spice, and it was just the right amount. The owner and her staff are AMAZING! We went with a group, and they made us feel so welcomed and appreciated. The atmosphere is cozy. It's the perfect winter eat spot, between the warm, delicious food and the cozy atmosphere, it's where I want to be. The tables are large and made family style. Definitely give this place a try.
This restaurant is now called Buatong. It's now all vegan. We aren't vegan but wanted to try the food. It was very good. We had the usual Pad Thai (tofu) and tried the yellow curry with "chicken". Soo tasty. We will def be back!
Fantastic Thai food. Wouldn’t have know it was vegan if they didn’t say it. Everything was delicious
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had, not the best Vegan Thai, the best overall.
Even better than before they were vegan/vegetarian! Basil fried rice with chicken was delicious and the vegan coconut prawns absolutely blew away my expectations. Tofu pad thai could have been a bit more saucey but I can't wait to come back!
It was delicious! Everything we ordered was just like I like it. It was a little slow, but worth the time.
New name is Buatong Restaurant
No longer Royal Thai. Now Buatong Vegan Thai. Great food. Tofu, vegan chicken, and vegan beef options. Great food! Tried Panang V Chicken and Mango Sitr Fry. Delicious.
This place is a gem with incredible flavors that seem to be one of a kind family recipes. The restaurant used to be called Thai Royal Orchid, but the new name is Buatong. Yes, this is a 100% vegan restaurant, but if you aren't vegan, give it a try!
The lunch specials come with a beautiful array of food. I got the Yellow curry, and it came with a Thai side salad, fried spring roll, rice, AND a choice of chow mein or pad Thai. The chow mein was absolutely delicious and reminded me of the noodles you can get specifically in the Southwest Chinese (Yuunan)/Northeast Indian/Burmese region! Came with so many veggies!
Note that I went on a day where they were short staffed, but everything was worth the wait! Don't let that deter you. Can't wait to go back!
I was excited to try their vegan menu. We were there on a Friday night and it was crowded, which I thought was a good sign. Unfortunately, they were understaffed. I ordered Spring Rolls, my gf ordered Drunken Noodles with “beef” and I had “Chicken” with peanut sauce.
I can’t tell you about the spring rolls since they never came. The Drunken Noodles did not have a lot of flavor and not spicy at all - my gf had to look for chili oil to add (she also picked out all of the fake beef). The Chicken with peanut sauce was too much chicken and not enough spinach. The “meat” is seitan, which upsets my stomach if I eat a lot. I should have chosen a tofu dish. I have eaten there before and the curry with tofu was delicious.
We were so excited to try the new and improved all vegan Thai spot until the service was not servicing. Me and my significant other ordered 2 dishes and 1 appetizer and a larger table behind us ordered shortly after. I was confused at how quickly they served the table of 8 before us 2, as we placed our order clearly ahead of them. We felt as if they wanted to impress them and get a bigger tip from the bigger table. Very upsetting we had to ask for other items that were missing on out table but already made and served to the larger table. Very disappointing because it was only us and the larger table, no other tables for the whole hour we were there.

Glad I didn't write this place off! It's delicious yes its vegan but it's sooooo good! Keep an open mind friends this place it ridiculously good 😄
This still reminds me of old Thai Royal Orchid. A lot of people might hesitate when they hear it's vegan but there hasn't been a single drop in quality. Absolutely fantastic food, service, atmosphere, everything is top notch. Hard to find any other restaurants in this price range that can compete with this!
So, this spot is under new management or renamed- but our experience here was not great. We were 1 of maybe 3 parties in the place. We were initially served 2 things we didn’t order; I tried to say “ I think we ordered the pad Thai” but the waitress was like, oh yea it’s such and such (English is not her first language) so we just said ok. I think it was a veggie Tofu curry, which was YUMMY!- after 2 bites I didn’t care it was probably different than what I thought I’d ordered. But then she came back apologetically, picked up the food, despite me protesting I’d already been eating it. She took it back to the kitchen and I’m
90% sure gave that same bowl of food to another couple who had ordered it.
Unfortunately, the tofu pad Thai we did get was really bland- usually the last thing you’d say about any Thai dish.
The Tom Kai soup was also delicious, to be fair.
Hope they get their act together.
Wow! Vegan Thai food! I had a hard time choosing from all the amazing options on their menu. I got the yellow curry with “chicken” and it was amazing. My partner had Mongolian “beef” and loved it.

Used to be so good! I understand the owners personal feelings went to them becoming vegan but for me the vegan "meat" is just not good. I'm very sad to lose a great restaurant.
Really great foods and fantastic options for vegans!
Wow! I am so impressed with this Thai food. Best phad thai I have had anywhere. Got the red curry and it was mild so ask if you want spicy. Very delicious.
Yes it is vegan and the vegan chicken was amazing. Would have fooled me if I had not known !! I’m not sure how they did that but I’m happy to see that it’s being done.
Beautiful atmosphere and service was delightful.
Take a chance even if you’re not vegan. You will love it!
Recently switched to vegan. Was our favourite restaurant and never got to say goodbye. I have an intolerance to vegan meat and can non longer enjoy the food here. Farewell old friend.
I LOVE the drunken noodles so good and spicy!
I always enjoy coming to this place when I’m in town. I luv the new vegan options too!
They are Vegan now, there was NOTHING wrong with this restaurant till they changed it to VEGAN! Now we were forced to change to a real THAI restaurant!
If you haven't visited since they became all vegan, you're missing out!
Have always loved this place. Now it’s vegan and I love it even more! The food is delicious and the staff is so nice. Highly recommend!
This place is awesome. The service is great; the food even better. If you’re hesitant because it’s fully plant-based, give it a try with an open mind. You won’t regret it!
I ordered take-out for the first time from Thai Royal Orchid. When I entered the restaurant, I was so surprised at what a serene atmosphere they had! I almost wanted to eat my food there instead just to enjoy the ambience. I will definitely visit again for a table because it was so lovely and relaxing.
The restaurant was also very accommodating to my gluten allergy and made sure that my food was safe.
Amazing service, atmosphere, and super tasty food. Can’t wait to visit again in person next time.
It was really good food, all vegan, beautiful atmosphere and really great service. Made reservation for 10 thru Google and we got a private room that was really nice and waitress was super nice.
Had dinner with friends last night at Thai Royal Orchid. We walked in & were greeted & told the restaurant was now vegan. Not knowing exactly what that meant, we decided to try it. We ordered 3 different dishes & all agreed it was the best Thai food we'd had in a long time! Can't wait to go back & try more dishes !!! The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was calming. Do yourself a favor & try this unique and wonderful new restaurant.
I went here on a whim, without reading that this place was vegan. Man, I'm so glad I came here to have the food!! I ordered egg rolls, Tom Kha, Panang Curry, basil Fried Rice, and Drunken Noodles. Wow I am so impressed. The panang curry was the best i have ever had!!! The only item that I ordered that was like a 4/5 was the basil fried rice. Nonetheless this is THE best Thai Food I have had in a while, and I will definitely be coming back!
We ordered the wontons and chicken pad si-ew and side of sticky rice TO GO. I was surprised to see that the entire menu is now completely vegan. However, the 10 wontons (appetizer) were very dry; alone there was no flavor; together with the sauce it tasted slightly better. I was barely able to chew through a few; tossed the rest. Not sure if this was a one time occurrence of them being in the fryer for too long or their usual consistency… I was very disappointed. The chicken pad so-ew was good.
LOVE THEIR VEGAN FOOD
I'm so happy they are all vegan this is what Fresno needs! I hope they stay forever 10/10 and we got the vegan prawns, yellow curry with vegan chicken, and the chow mein with vegan shrimp. All so yummy! Cant wait to go back they legit have so many options
ALSO THE DECOR AND AMBIENCE WAS SO AMAZING they have such cute lovely decor I felt so comfy and uplifted! (๑¯ω¯๑)
We just got back from dinner and it was amazing! We are going to make this our weekly spot and I can't wait to bring our friends. There aren't that many places that are vegan in our area, much less ones that I feel like our meat eating friends would love too. It's been awhile since I've found a place where I just want to work my way through the whole menu, I'm delighted!
Great vegan food. Will definitely return.
What amazing vegan food! My 8 year old let us know she like the panang curry better vegan than non-vegan. Delicious & the egg rolls and fried banana with coconut ice cream was amazing too. We will be back soon!
This place has the absolute BEST Thai food, AND is vegan now which is amazing for the fresno plant based community.
Awesome spot for take-out but has such a cool vibe inside - perfect spot for sit-down dining as well.
Everything is vegan now...... But it's so goooood.
We had Tom Ka soup, mango Salad and green curry with Tofu.
The owners are trying to revamp the place and draw a new crowd.
Everything is made fresh and you can tell. You won't feel so heavy afterwards either!
We'll definitely be back 😉
Used to always eat here until they went vegan.
Delicious, vegan thai food! The tofu green curry and the vegan chicken pad thai were favorites.
The food is delicious and service is friendly
I love this place and kudos to the owner for following her heart and creating an authentic Vegan restaurant. Everything is absolutely delicious and made with love. I visit 2x / week and will tell everyone how excellent the food is. The restaurant is lovely also, with a peaceful ambience and ample space if you are having a larger group. Please give them a try. Run don't walk this is the best find ever! My parent's are meat eaters and they even loved it.
Thai Royal Orchid is excellent. It was amazing before it went vegan and now it’s 10x as good! Recommend the tom yum soup, curry, fresh rolls, and peanut sauce, but you can’t go wrong.
Vegan Only Restaurant
Under new management and now only serving vegan! 😱 Food was not tasteful at all, bland, and lacked any flavor. There are plenty of better Thai restaurants around than this one. We won’t be returning!
Tried to do take out today and was informed they’re under new management and that they’re now only serving strictly vegan. We’ve been going here for over a decade and loved their chili jam squid, garlic chicken and combination fried rice.
So sad it was sold :(
Good food
Good place to eat. Nice ambiance decor In restaurant. I recommend this place. They have a great selection of Thai food. Good service and fast! I Love the papaya salad the chicken Pad Thai, and Satay. This is my Favorite thai place in fresno!
Delicious food. First time doing to a Thai restaurant and it didn't disappoint. I highly recommend it!
This place was OK. I ordered the crab ragoons - didn't really have much crab, if any at all and it was really sweet. I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate, that was just ok, a bit of a disappointment to me as it was lacking flavor. Then had the nerve to charge me $1 for a small sauce cup of liquid Teriyaki sauce on the side. The server was nice, but I will not be retuning.
Awesome
Delicious food BUT I gave them 4 stars because they really skimped on the veggies in my pad see ew. I had two pieces of broccoli in my whole container. :c
A family-owned Thai restaurant with unique Thai inspired dishes.
I love this place. Their seasonal pumpkin curry is excellent.
(Actually visited this restaurant last night/10-15-22)
Small friendly Thai restaurant. All orders are made fresh at time of order.
I am a vegetarian, and they were very nice in accommodating my "no egg, fish, or oyster sauce," in the making of the Pad see ew dish I ordered. I also had fresh/raw veggie spring rolls. The spring roll filling was made with green cabbage, cucumbers, carrots, and red onion- very very good. Then again I really like fresh spring rolls. I just added some of the red chilli sauce and it was a delicious dish pair with the Pad see ew. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, my order was for take-out (I ordered it on the spot), and the whole process took only about 15 mins from order to me walking out the door with the food. Very friendly and quick service.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
👍👍👍👍👍
😋😋😋😋😋
There are so many good Thai restaurants in Fresno, and while this isn't my favorite, it is the one I probably end up going to the most. The location is accessible, they have some tasty options for people that may not be as adventurous and they have respectable levels of heat in their food.
Very good! Friendly staff, fast service, good prices & yummy food! We’ll be back!
Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere, staff are delightful. A great place for a special occasion. Their signature dishes (ex: Crispy Squid Chili Jam) are deliciously unique.
Really good food must try if you love Thai...good job
Great food and staff
Their green curry and chicken satay is absolutely perfect! All the flavors are lovely.
Favorite go to other than pho and my grandparents really love coming here, they always make it a point to bring family that come from out if town here and there is something for everyone here!
Good food and service.
Delicious and authentic. The Sweet Rice is to die for.
Delicious food great service
Been coming here for 20 years cuz the food prepared here is addicting...flavorful like no other Thai Restaurant Ive been to in Cali.
Our favorite Thai restaurant. Thim is so sweet as are all the
people working there. Good food too.
Ordered the duck curry and literally got 3 small pieces of duck, literally less than an ounce of meat and paid 20$!! This place is a rip off and straight thrash, they should be embarrassed as a business.
I am in heaven, the red curry was fantastic. The tom yom soup was perfect. They even let me do a half order. My new favorite thai food restaurant hands down. Cant wait to try more dishes. Service was extremely friendly as well a clean amd sanitary atmosphere.
Love this place. 😀
Always friendly and nice. Quickly makes take out or nice atmosphere inside. My favorites are eggrolls, garlic chicken, tom yum soup, anything with their peanut sauce. Yummy desserts too and homemade coconut ice cream!
Great food. Very authentic curries that reminds me of Thailand. Great service. We'll be coming back
Coconut prawns were ok, the pad Thai was dry and no sauce. We asked for more sauce and they gave us sweet chili sauce.
Good food and good service. Will be back.
Phad was cooked perfect, take out order but not all clumpy. Basil eggplant was just the right amount of spicy.
First time trying this restaurant and I ordered the royal noodle dish. Tastes very good. Will order again.
This place is phenomenal. Definitely the best Thai place I have been too so far (I’ve been to at least 5 different Thai restaurants here)in the greater Fresno area. I will update this if I have found a better place. The prices are decent and the food is excellent.
Best Thai restaurant ever!!
Great food and kind staff!
Really good food
My dish was supposed to have veggies, and had hardly any. It was also extremely salty.
Very disappointed.
I really wanted to love this place because the woman who helped us was so sweet. Unfortunately, the Tom Kha Ga was way salter than any I've ever tasted, and the curry was too. They both lacked that well balanced, sweet and salty flavor that coconut Thai dishes usually have. Also, the curry had some type of vegetable that was way too difficult to chew. I think it may have been a certain type of bamboo. I usually love bamboo, and very much enjoyed the tiny slices, but the bigger ones were sifted out and thrown away.
I will come back here. Clean, relaxing and top service. Food was excellent
Full variety of curry and wide variety of food. Very authentic. Loved it.
Thai Royal was okay... the taste of their food was kind of bland.
Excellent Thai food and very nice staff.
I will not buy food from here again. Food taste and flavor not to my liking.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Fresno! Great food and portions for the price, and they're very friendly both over the phone to order and in person when picking up. They appear to have been taking Covid precautions seriously all along as well.
Our favorite takeout restaurant with a good cuisine.
This is a great place for Thai food. Food portion is just right, full of flavor and is authentic. Though be warned the spicy dishes are spicy, my son who likes it hot wasn't able to eat a dish with the hot factor of 5 out of ten and he eats ghost peppers! When I get Thai this is my spot!
Good Thai food. Nothing special but if work unfortunately brings you to FresNo and you want some Thai close to your average hotel then this is the place.
Absolutely delicious pad Thai and egg rolls. Highly recommend!!
Vegan friendly...They always go above and beyond to satify their customers. Everything in their menu Is delicious and very authentic. I've tried other Thai Restaurants in town and they don't even compare. Some of my favorites are their vegan tofu fried rice, basil fried rice, phanang tofu: Tofu Phad La Nah and gold bags... I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting some delicious authentic food.
This was probably the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. I decided to try it based off the good reviews and oh man were they WRONG! I got the red curry with chicken and my boyfriend got the shrimp fried rice, neither were edible. My CHICKEN curry reeked of a pungent fish odor (maybe too much fish sauce?) and it looked and tasted like it had been sitting around all day as opposed to being made fresh. My boyfriend’s shrimp fried rice also had a strong fish odor, which initially made us thing the shrimp was bad. Either way, we were only able to stomach a few bites of our meals and had to just throw the rest out, wasting a good $40. We also got some egg rolls and those were actually good though, so thankfully we had a little something to munch on while we waited for the pizza we ordered to show up after throwing out the horrible food we got from this place. DO NOT EAT HERE. STRAIGHT TRASH, LITERALLY!!
Too expensive
Great food and service
Drunken noodles with shrimp!
As always, delicious food and great service
Be careful of the spice level. It goes from 1 to 5. Great dishes.
Great service and food
Great!
Buena comida
The family and I love this place. This spot is my favorite Thai restaurant in this area, a must try. Great food, good portions, and friendly staff.
Consistently good!
We love Royal Orchid. The food is excellent, well priced and easy to adjust if needed for my wife who is vegan. They are very knowledgeable about their dishes and everything is made fresh. They have been very accommodating when it comes to substitutions to make a dish vegan. Plenty to choose from and very quick to process orders. Usually only 15-20 minutes from the time of order. We go here about once a month and it's not remotely close to my house. But well worth the drive.
Friendly, quiet, peaceful
1. We tried calling and it kept saying you were busy. We tried again after a while and still nothing.
2. We were given little rice. It looked like rice that they left in the pot since this morning or something. We weren't even given one cup of rice. We were given rice for birds. We had to literally make our own rice to make up for the entrée.
3. We had more potatoes than meat. I had 5 little beef. Not worth the price.
4. The lady was nice. I just wished our meal was just as nice.
This place is seriously authentic Thai. It is so good. The tofu phad thai is my favorite.
The food was very good. I live in Clovis and I will return for the food
Royal orchid has been our favorite Thai food in fresno for years ... 4 stars only today because we had a dish that was a bit burnt and we had to toss it .
Other than that awesome food and awesome service always a good experience 😀
The staff is friendly and the food is good.
This place has really good Thai food and thier portions are great as well. Very friendly atmosphere.
Kind staff, supersonic speed service, scrumptious dishes, clean and well decorated.
First time visit to Thai Royal Orchid and enjoyed every dish. It was great! Really worth a try.
This place is very good!
Awesome food... I am here for the first time and love it!!!!
Good place for a spicy dinner
Good food can't wait to go back.
Flat noodle pad sew was too sweet, and that's tasteless (not authentic from Thai)Tom yam soup was just average and i didn't taste lemongrass at all , and too bad they use fake crab meat.the taste literally not as I expected. I don't think I can come again..sorry
The food here was bomb!! And all the workers we encountered here were so very kind!🙂 We ordered crab rangoons, peanut sauce chicken, Mongolian beef, pad thai and fried rice. Each of those items were so good and flavorful! Also the restaurant was pretty and clean so that added to a nice dining experience. I definitely reccomend this place to anyone who likes Thai or Chinese food and I totally want to come back!
Food was decent priced, but severely lacking in flavor... the wontons were suuper bland and overcooked... overall will not be returning... what a shame...
Good food and very friendly staff
Great food with nice service
Got the drunken noodle and while it had spice, it was severly lacking in the flavor department. so disappointing
My family and I have been going here for nearly 20 years, always has the same excellent quality in both food and service.
